Jariss
16-06-2007, 16:18
Style -5 (or whatever max defense is)
Lineup 5-4-1

Coach- Maru Hiniru age 56 Coach of the Jariss Spiders High School soccer team and so the most experienced soccer person on the isle. Very conservative in nature and playstyle. However he managed to adapt well to the new playstyle of the rest of the world and was named All Star Coach of the Baptism of Fire. he led the team to a respectable nine points in the qualifiers earning a good deal of respect for the team in the process, highlighted by the 2-0 shutout win over Commerce Heights. They also managed to bounce Turruth Gordor into the CoH after denying them the win needed to clinch an automatci qualification to the Cup proper.

G- Tali Vindu age 18 (starter) Captain of the Spiders and according to Hiniru she’s the best keeper he’s ever coached. She had one bad match against Geisenfried but otherwise gave up two or fewer goals in her other matches.
G- Aru Treni age 24 (reserve) part time member of the police and fire department he is the keeper for their squad and the only other decent keeper on the isle. he bounced back from a poor BoF to be solid in his limited role in the qualifiers.

F- Minna Dawo age 20 (starter) The Jariss Spiders all time record holder in goals scored with 10 in her four years, Minna was clearly the choice to start for the team here. Minna was far and away the leading scorer for Jariss in the Cup proper and is expected to do the same here.
F- Konu Zaryi age 28 (reserve) Holder of the old scoring record with 8 before Minna broke it has taken time off from his father’s fishing boat to join the team. Graduated from Bigtopia University with a degree in marine biology. Had a couple of goals in his one start at forward.

M- Leni Banama age 35 (starter) The best player in Jariss soccer history according to most Leni was a force on both offense and defense making him a perfect midfielder. Had a couple of goals in the qualifiers.
M- Tranae Vyrroi age 21 (starter) Showed up at the tryouts despite being on the rugby team in high school and somehow made the team. She has the legs to keep up on the field but her actual skill is a bit shaky at times.
M- Joa Giranu age 18 (starter) part of the Spiders squad. Good ballhandler and passer, he will keep things steady in the middle. recently he agreed to join the Cafundeu EC Elville squad as part of Jariss' continuing expansion onto the world stage.
M- Andre Miware age 30 (starter) this tour guide discovered he hadn’t forgotten everything he knew from his days with the Spiders and made the team.
M- Gia Banama age 26 (reserve) wife of Leni Banama, she earned her own way onto the team even if some feel she’s there to keep an eye on her husband’s roving eye.

D- Kalo Yannia age 31 (starter) a good defender back in his days as a Spider though some feel a leg injury a couple years back has cost him a step.
D- Fya Panai age 18 (starter) the best defender on the Spiders she was a clear choice to make the team when Jariss was announced to enter the WC for the first time. Had a very solid qualifier after a spotty BoF
D- Goru Lyani age 19 (starter) This Spider graduate was bored working at his father’s farm and jumped at the chance to go see the world in the Cup. Goru was also named as the Jariss player to accept the Errinunderan offer to spend a year at the Ellery Camp in Errinundera. Also named to the BoF All Star team
D- Larri Weque age 34 (starter) Another returning star who hadn’t kicked a soccer ball in four years, this former two time best defender of the Spiders managed to recall enough of his game to make the team after the tryouts.
D- Datu Kippo age 26 (starter) This lifeguard was a bit of a surprise starter after skipping high school to surf for four years. Somehow he impressed Hiniru at the tryouts and made the team.
D- Relao Yashi age 18 (reserve) The last member of the current team still in high school, but coach Maru thought it would be a good experience or him.

Ulzaxid is glad to accept the offer to the cup of harmony, but still request teams help them come up with names for their team members.

With Ulzaxidians not having names in a traditional sense, nor having football in the traditional sense, all players have copied names from famous footballers to name the squad, hence the names. By studying the list of hall of fame players it seems that strikers are more important hence the 1-3-6 formation.

Special Notes about Ulzaixds:

They aren't human or from earth. In other words they are aliens. And strange ones at that. A full Ulzaxid is made up of five different organisms morphed together. The five component parts are organisms similiar to a monkey, dolphin with gills, an eagle, a ferret and a slime mold. In full on form they are very large, fast, strong and dangerous. With claws and wings for flight. Fortunately they won't be using such full morphs during the competition. But rather smaller versions. All morphs contain at least the slime which can secrete an enzyme which allows them to morph together. They can morph with any organism, so if they are under attack at home matches will do so in self-defense. And considering they could kick the crap out of people anyways, I'd recommend against starting trouble in Ulzaxid. Ulzaxid stadiums are specially constructed to have special seating areas for each of the base organisms as well as morphs. So there are eagles sitting on poles above the field, a special pool area for dolphins and so on. The slime molds are telepathic so the coach and team don't make any noise during matches. At away matches the spectators will also be completely silent. At home matches the base forms of eagle, ferret, monkey and dolphin will make noise.

Clearly such a species won't be defecting to other countries. If you are interested in having a player of fan morph together with an Ulzaxid that might be possible. TG me. Other than that no one will be coming to Ulzaxid as a defectee. All Ulzaxids can brain share so they can all speak English or any other language as necessary. So anyone is availabe for interviews.

The 혜성즈 (Hyesūŋjī) once again request entry in the Cup of Harmony.

New Manhattan is the forum account used for the NS nation Commerce Heights, which is a façade for an in-character nation, the Unified Capitalizt States. The nation Commerce Heights JSY represents one of two football associations based in the UCS, and should be called by its in-character name, 자스연 (Jasīʼyūn). Where non-Latin characters are not desired, it should be called Jasīʼyūn; where diacritics are not desired, it should be called JSY.

CAFUNDÉU'S TEAM FOR THE CUP OF HARMONY

Style: +4

MEBACK ANNOUNCES THE SQUAD

(Lasft, Cafundéu) – After the disappointment of the bad campaign in the qualifiers, not qualifying to the World Cup, the team comes to play the Cup of Harmony. In the rankings, the team is the best of the competition, but maybe the impact of the bad results in the WC qualifiers can affect the team form. Caio Meback, the temporary coach, sent the same team that played the WC 35 qualifiers.

Meback talked about what he is expecting: "Now the team got used to my style, and must show some work to the supporters. We must battle for the title, and seriously look for the victory in all the games. We can do that, so our objective is the first place."

See the list of the 23 players:

Goalkeepers:

1-Luís Octávio Andrade JÚNIOR (Team: A.F.F.)
Height: 205cm - Weight: 93kg – Age: 23 years old
The “slim barrier”, as he is called, won a place in the starting team and is now a key player. He had some wonderful seasons playing for A.F.F., and is known as a calm and concentrated goalkeeper, who can save penalties and is in the right place in the right moment. His reflexes are also excellent. He only needs to adapt himself to the tough games of Alfredo Neves.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B - Morale: B - Form: A

12-Ney MATOGROSSO (Team: CR Submiria)
Height: 196cm - Weight: 100kg – Age: 27 years old
Ney Matogrosso plays in a medium team of the first division of the league. He is a good goalkeeper, good in one on ones, but poor in saving free kick and in leaving the goal. But he usually plays very well in important games. Some players think that he is strange, as he has makes some strange rituals before the games and wears one boot of each color during the game. He also has a strange hairstyle.
Rating: C - Team Relationship: C - Morale: A - Form: C

22-LAURO Navarro Vasconcelos (Team: Pernetas EC)
Height: 186cm - Weight: 72kg – Age: 22 years old
One of the most promising goalkeepers of the last five years, Lauro left Penders and joined Pernetas EC, where he sent the starter keeper, Sedoso, to the bench. With excellent games, helping the team to win important games, he won a place in the National Team. He is a young and eccentric goalkeeper, who likes to take free kicks too, but he’ll have little opportunity in the team. He is also very intelligent.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: A

Right Defenders:

2-Leonardo Macedo de Mattos "LÉO MATTOS" (Team: A.F.F.)
Height: 168cm – Weight: 72kg – Age: 20 years old
A fast, intelligent and offensive full-back, who can play in both sides of the field, although he prefers the right side. He lacks some defensive abilities, so he suits better in an offensive strategy, as he is very fast and has good passing and shooting abilities. He is very young, so is still unexperienced. He has developed a lot, and now is surely the best full-back of the whole National Team.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B– Form: B

16-Vinícius Nogueira COELHO (Team: Petardos S/A)
Height: 173cm – Weight: 77kg – Age: 24 years old
A player who showed some talent for many years in Pernetas EC, but just now got a chance to go to the National Team, something that happened just after he was bought by the billionaire Petardos S/A. He is an extremely fast right-back, with average passing, but good positioning. He also likes to attack and take corner kicks, and he can be a good weapon for Cafundéu.
Rating: C – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: B

Left Defenders:

6-ANDRÉ LUÍS Di Natale (Team: Atlético Jutense)
Height: 176cm – Weight: 76kg – Age: 29 years old
André Luís is already an experienced player, who played for many teams of Cafundéu. He didn’t go to the National Team before the arrival of the new coach, who like his style and watched his good performances when he was playing for Central United. Now, he has a chance to show his quality. He is a technical defender, who passes well the ball and is good defensively too.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: C – Morale: A – Form: A

13-Ray KIRS (Team: Petardos S/A)
Height: 173cm - Weight: 70kg – Age: 33 years old
Ray Kirs is one of the players that lost some space with the arrival of the new coach. He has great vision, passing and tackling, but isn’t the same from the last cups.. He lacks some speed and is extremely tactical, and his team mates respect him. He still has the confidence of the supporters. He doesn't like to talk to the media and to the press and trains hard.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: C - Morale: C - Form: B

Central Defenders:

3-EDUARDO MONTE Castelo Casagrande (Team: EC Elville)
Height: 172cm - Weight: 70kg – Age: 19 years old
One of the best surprises in the team. Eduardo Monte was just a promising youngster of the Sub-23 team, but he impressed the whole world with his speed and perfect long passes. He defends well, but needs the help of a more experienced defender, like Becão. He is extremely happy with his current life, and is ready to play well as a starter of the National Team, even being very young.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: B - Morale: A - Form: A

4-João Chico Tripa de Boi "BECÃO" (Team: Ranca Toco)
Height: 190cm - Weight: 102kg – Age: 32 years old
Becão plays with much will and using all his strength, so he is feared by the attackers. His tacking is awesome and his passing is good. But he is very slow and can't finish well, unless he uses his head to try to score(he can use his head well – and he scores a lot of goals this way). He obeys the coach and is now the official captain of the team. Talks a lot in the media and is a hero in his team. He is considered the second strongest player in Cafundéu and one of the most determined too.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: B - Form: A

14-Pedro Jorge Nascimento "ALEMÃO" (Team: Central United)
Height: 192cm – Weight: 98kg – Age: 25 years old
Another player that got some success recently. He is happy to go to his second World Cup and wants to use his good defensive abilities, his strength and his good heading ability to help the National Team. Can be the starter of the NT if continues improving, but it doesn’t seem the case right now.
Rating: C – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: C

20-José Augusto Marques DORIVA (Team: Cafundó do Juta)
Height: 182cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 23 years old
Much people don’t think that Doriva is good enough to play in the National Team, but the coach likes him, so he is here. A solid defender, does his job well, but nothing special. Passes well, but doesn’t score goals often. Will be just an option in the bench, as he isn’t as good as Becão or Eduardo Monte.
Rating: D - Team Relationship: A - Morale: C - Form: B

Defensive Midfielders:

5-Mukulaiê Bakarangobadah Zulaiêká "ANORMAL" (Team: SC Lasft)
Height: 220cm - Weight: 132kg – Age: 25 years old
A monster in the field, Anormal has a strange past. His father is a famous scientist, and his mother is unknown. Many sources say that Anormal is an experience made by his father, but this is only a theory. Anormal is young, but surely the best player of the team. Taller and heavier than any other player of the team, he has more abilities than anyone. Great physical strength, very fast and is good at everything(heading, shooting, passing, tacking). His only weakness is that he doesn't want to hurt his opponent, so he tries to get the ball in a gentle way, being dribbled sometimes. But everybody loves him and he'll surely play all the games.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A

8-Gabriel Pereira BARBOSA (Team: Petardos S/A)
Height: 178cm - Weight: 77kg – Age: 27 years old
Barbosa was just a reserve player of Dunboor FC until the injury of De Bois. He entered, and didn't leave. He is extremely good at creating plays, and is a good dribbler. His defensives abilities are good too, but he often attacks and doesn’t goes back to the defense to help. Now he is a starter, after he went to Petardos S/A
Rating: B - Team Relationship: A - Morale: B - Form: A

21-Gleydson Jassin Lopes "NEGO GUERREIRO" (Team: Dunboor FC)
Height: 188cm - Weight: 90kg – Age: 22 years old
Another strong defensive midfielder, Nego Guerreiro has good technique too, and can create plays for the team. He was playing for A.F.F., but his contract expired and he decided to join Braddock’s Dunboor FC. He is considered a natural leader, someone who can be the captain of the team (but he isn’t). He avoids confusions, but is very determined and fights for every ball.
Rating: C - Team Relationship: A - Morale: B - Form: B

Neutral Midfielders:

18-Carlos FALCUS (Team: Petardos S/A)
Height: 168cm – Weight: 65kg – Age: 27 years old
Falcus is a very solid and intelligent player, who can create some very good plays and goal chances. He is also a good free kick taker, and has good tactical knowledge. His current form is not so good, so he can stay on the bench. His passes and dribbles are his strong point. Now that he is one of the key players of Petardos S/A’s team, he is famous and respected by everybody.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: C

23-Georgious METIR (Team: Cafundó do Juta)
Height: 176cm – Weight: 81kg – Age: 28 years old
Player with indigenous origin, has technique and likes to predict the actions of his opponents, dribbling them. He scores lots of goals in the league. Reporters say that he isn’t a friendly person, and he doesn’t talk very often, even with his team mates. When playing, he obeys all the coach’s orders. He is now back in the National Team, after being out of the last cup’s squad.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: D – Morale: A – Form: B

Attacking Midfielders:

10-DÁRIO dos Campos Salles (Team: Atlético Jutense)
Height: 168cm – Weight: 64kg – Age: 23 years old
Dário was one of the “Galáxia SC wonders”, five players of the Fourth Division team that surprised the country. Now, in Atlético Jutense, he is having very good performances, using all his scoring and dribbling ability to help the team, and went to the National Team. He is also good at passes and set pieces, but isn’t good at defending. He improves every year, and now is a starter in the team.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: A

15-Ricardo Steppt KLIEK (Team: Dunboor FC)
Height: 166cm - Weight: 68kg – Age: 26 years old
Kliek is another player that lost some space in the National Team. He is a very offensive midfielder, and doesn't defend. His passing, dribbling and finishing are OK, and his heading isn't so good. But he is very creative and can make good plays and create a lot of goal chances for his team mates. He can also get lost balls, that were almost leaving the field, reaching it with speed. He is also very funny and likes to make jokes and to provoke the opponents. He isn’t happy to stay on the bench.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: A - Morale: C - Form: B

17-Leandro Keller ASSIS (Team: Petardos S/A)
Height: 174cm - Weight: 76kg – Age: 26 years old
Another hard working player, that suits the style of the coach, Assis left Atlético Jutense last year to join Petardos. With his fighting spirit and his good passes, he became one of the best players of the team. In the country’s team, he is ready to do a good job, and can use his speed and his vision to do it. He is also a friendly person, but doesn’t talk much with his team mates.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: B

Attackers:

7-TALES Cassiano Assunção Sobrinho (Team: Cafundó do Juta)
Height: 179cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 23 years old
A player who has developed a lot during the last years, Tales support the other attackers, and can make many assistances. His main objective isn’t to score goals, but sometimes he uses his good finishing ability to do that. He is also very fast and has good passes, but wants to stay away from set pieces. He became a bit arrogant after playing well for the National Team and changed teams, but still has the confidence of most of the players. He’ll be a starter in the team. He likes to talk with the media.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: C – Morale: A – Form: B

9-RENÁRIO de Arruda Santos (Team: Ranca Toco)
Height: 162cm – Weight: 71kg – Age: 34 years old
A legend who isn’t in good form and is unfit. His abilities aren’t the same, but he is still one of the most deadly strikers of Cafundéu. His chip shots are lethal and his positioning very good too. The only problem is his physical situation, but he seems ready to play in the competition. He now is a starter of the team.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: C

11-HEITOR Abbade (Team: A.F.F.)
Height: 178cm - Weight: 72kg - Age: 25 years old
He doesn't score the same amount of goals that Ijak or Renário score, but he has a very good finishing too. His heading isn't accurate and his dribbling is far from perfect, but his passing is good. He likes to press the opponent defender and try to take the ball from him. He also can create some goal chances. When he is not playing he works in the CCFM judging the referees, and has a good future as a player. He also has a good relationship with the media.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B - Morale: B - Form: A

19-Ivan Moutinho Gomes "FLECHA" (Team: SC Lasft)
Height: 164cm - Weight: 60kg - Age: 20 years old
The most promising “wonderkid” of Galáxia SC, Flecha has more technique than the near-retired Renário or the arrogant Tales, but is too young to hold the pressure of playing in such an important competition, so he’ll stay on the bench. Main responsible for the rise of Galáxia in the lower leagues, he is now in SC Lasft. His best friends in Galáxia, Rato, Carlos Magno and Ferreira, can go to the National Team in the future, but now only Flecha and Dário are in it. He is really fast (his nickname means arrow in english) and has a good finishing, but isn’t too good in making assistances. Is a player to look in the future.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A

Staff:

Coach: Caio MEBACK (Former Petardos S/A coach)
Height: 177cm - Weight: 76kg – Age: 42 years old
Alfredo Neves was fired during the World Cup qualifiers, and Caio was hired. But he won't stay for long time. When the Cup of Harmony finishes, he'll be replaced by another coach, as he signed a contract with Central United for the next season of the National League. He is a friendly coach, who likes an united team, with the players helping each other. Sometimes he's viewed as a coach that doesn't take risks.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Confidence: C

Assistant Coach: POLEGAR
Height: 152cm - Weight: 64kg – Age: 35 years old
Polegar was just a common physical trainer, but Erasmo Carlos Jowenguard decided to give him the job of assistant coach. He'll leave with Caio Meback too. He is friendly too, but efficient. The only problem is that he is very inexperienced.
Rating: C - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Confidence: D

Spy: PAI Oxossi de Guibar DINAH
Height: 158cm - Weight: 64kg – Age: 86 years old
Pai Dinah(or Pai Oxossi) is the spy of the team. He says that he can discover the most deeper secrets of the opponent talking with the opponent players and using his secret talents. He is a very strange person and many people say that he is crazy. But he does his work well, and most of the times he discover the secrets of the enemy.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: C - Morale: B - Confidence: B

Physical Trainer: GIOVANNI Vital Mendes (Former Dunboor FC)
Height: 190cm - Weight: 92kg – Age: 44 years old
Giovanni is a normal physical trainer, and does well his job. The players have a good relationship with him and he has the confidence of the board. He was a boxing champion, but already retired. Has 8 children and 4 of them want to be boxing fighters, and the other 4 want to be their managers.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: B - Morale: B - Confidence: B

Entertainer: SERGINHO MALLANDRO (Former TV Gazeta)
Height: 175cm - Weight: 88kg - Date of Birth: ???(above 40 years old)
The players and the staff need to be relaxed to play all the games. So, Serginho Mallandro's job is to make jokes, play games and help to make everybody happy. Sometimes he can be a bit annoying with his phrases like "Glu-glu", or "Bilu-bilu tetéia" and other ones, and even the directors don't like him very much, but he will stay with the NT. He also works with the female NT.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: D - Morale: B - Confidence: D

Doctor: Dra. SILVANA CELESTE (Former Juta Hospital)
Height: 164cm - Weight: 52kg – Age: 40 years old
A very famous doctor in the sporting area, Silvana is ready for any problems. Is well paid and got this well deserved position. She has some problems with Serginho Mallandro(she hates his bad jokes) and the masseur Ulisses Carambola is at her command. Cafundéu can sleep safer with her. Is the sister of the doctor Luana Celeste.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: B - Morale: B - Confidence: A

The Directors:

Director of the NT: Counselor-Minister of Sports Erasmo Carlos JOWENGUARD
Age: 83 years old - Time in the job: 18 years
Jowenguard's family is one of the founders of the CCFM. He was the president of the CCFM for 30 years, but health problems made him renounce. Now, without problems, he has the job of director of the National Teams(less important), but he still has great influence in the CCFM and in the CFFC, choosing the NT coach and changing some things that he shouldn't change(I won't give any details about it). After the team failed to qualify for the World Cup, he became the Counselor-Minister of Sports, but decided to continue being the Director of NTs (he could be the president of the CCFM again if he wanted).
Rating: A - Influence: A - Morale: B - Confidence: A

President of the CCFM: MIGUEL JÓIA
Age: 48 years old - Time in the job: 6 months
After Cafundéu didn't qualify for World Cup 35, the supporters, angry, rejected the presence of the Counselor-Minister of Sports Samuel Makas in the position of President of the CCFM. The Emperor sacked Makas from the government, and from the CCFM. New elections were held, but only Miguel Jóia applied for the job. Jowenguard was offered the job, but he declined. So, the player agent Miguel Jóia became the president of the CCFM.
Rating: B - Influence: B - Morale: A - Confidence: C

The formation:

Traditional 4-4-2. Offensive right and left-backs. Barbosa often helping the defense. In the second half, Meback can put one more attacker to transform it in a 4-3-3.

Style: 4 to the attack.

Estresse Intenso
17-06-2007, 01:43
Landau Institute's selected doctors for the Cup of Harmony

Style: -2

Estresse Intenso is a very dangerous and difficult place to live. Its citizens have to support all the stress resultant of a society that is near to an anarchy. The country itself doesn't have a National Team, but there is one place that has, the only place that doesn't have the pressure of Estresse Intenso's way of life.

Many people from Estresse Intenso succumbed to the stress. Most of them became crazy and couldn't live in the country anymore. So, they went to the Landau Institute, where the stress can be controlled and any craziness signs can be controlled by the many doctors that live there, employed by Doctor Rogério Landau.

All the players of Estresse Intenso's National Team come from the Landau Institute, and there they can train 12 hours per day, every day. But this time, after recent failures of a team composed by patients, Doctor Rogério Landau decided to pick the most respected doctors of the Institute (those who can play well football) and created a team composed by doctors and professors.

Because of this entirely new way of choosing the players (all the players will go to their first international competition), Estresse Intenso has a completely new style, more defensive. Please note that most of the players are old. This is because someone can only be considered a doctor after intense study, and the minimum age is of 23 (but few are able to become doctor at this age).

To become a professor, the doctors need to keep studying, and only after a specific number of services made for the Landau Institute, a doctor gets this title (it takes approximately twenty years). A professor works together with the commanders of the Institute. The title would suggest that he would start acting as a teacher for young doctors, but this isn't the case.

So, see the Doctors Team of Landau Institute, with their specialities:

Goalkeepers:

1- Professor Dráuzio VARELA: one of the most respected doctors of Estresse Intenso, has a strict relationship with Doctor Rogério Landau, president of the Landau Institute.
Occupation: Cardiologist
Age: 60 years old

12- Doctor Ânderson MALVINO: a doctor with good sense of humor, nice with his patients. Some doctors don't like him, as he is too much popular with the patients.
Occupation: Endocrinologist
Age: 38 years old

22- Doctor CLÊMER Otário: a bit dumb, this doctor often needs assistance to assist his patients. As he talks with the oldest patients of the Institute, he has great knowledge of the place.
Occupation: Geriatrician
Age: 26 years old

Right-Backs:

2- Doctor Cecília BATISTA: very friendly with both the patients and the other doctors, she surely is ambitious and easily gets what she wants, as, for example, a place in the National Team.
Occupation: Hematologist
Age: 25 years old

21- Doctor Fernando SOUZA: a rude doctor. The patients fear him and want to see him far away from them. But the truth is that he likes his patients, but doesn't have the courage to reveal that.
Occupation: Nephrologist
Age: 42 years old

Left-Backs:

3- Professor Ricardo RODRIGUES: another respected professor of the Landau Institute, he works alongside with Varela and Landau. He is a quiet and shy person, who has great respect for his friends.
Occupation: Pathologyst
Age: 72 years old

13- Doctor MARCELO OLIVEIRA: not too famous in terms of medicine ability, but very famous in terms of football ability. He is fast, passes the ball well, and can play some games.
Occupation: Infectiologist
Age: 27 years old

Central Defenders:

4- Professor Jesus BANGU MELO: right-hand of Doctor Rogério Landau, he makes miracles in the defense. With ability, he can stop the most deadly attackers, but doesn't have much speed.
Occupation: Psychiatrist
Age: 57 years old

6- Doctor Thiago CABRINI: one of the most intelligent doctors of the Institute, but considered selfish by his patients or close friends. Will be a starter, but can finish on the bench.
Occupation: Oncologist
Age: 52 years old

14- Doctor Sílvio MORAES: he is calm and never discuss with anyone. He likes to help people in need, and loves his job in the Institute. Can get a place in the starter team.
Occupation: Dentist
Age: 50 years old

20- Doctor Wellington QUEVEDO: a doctor with little patience. Agressive, he already sent three patients to the surgery room after discussions. Because of that, he is close to be a patient too.
Occupation: Psychiatrist
Age: 43 years old

Defensive Midfielders:

5- Doctor César ZETTI: the most compassionate doctor, he has good intentions, and wants to recover all his patients. Unfortunately for him, he isn't a famous doctor, although he is a good football player.
Occupation: General Practitioner
Age: 38 years old

15- Doctor Juan Carlos GARRIDO: came from abroad, so he still has difficulties to communicate. Has good football abilities, but he is mysterious, and some doctors don't trust on him.
Occupation: Surgeon
Age: 51 years old

23- Doctor Maria Lopes DOS SANTOS: not sociable, Maria doesn't like to talk with other people, only concentrating on her studies. She wants to be a professor soon.
Occupation: Pharmacologyst
Age: 46 years old

Neutral Midfielders:

7- Professor ALINE Felipo: Aline is the wife of Doctor Rogério Landau, and one of the founders of the Landau Institute, so he is very important there. She dribbles well, and has an excellent long ranged pass.
Occupation: Psychiatrist
Age: 50 years old

17- Doctor Roger ESPAGUETE: Espaguete is another young doctor that is not famous because of his abilities in medicine, but in his abilities as a footballer. He is a good set pieces taker.
Occupation: General Practitioner
Age: 33 years old

Offensive Midfielders:

8- Doctor Letícia SABIN: personal assistant of Doctor Rogério Landau and fanatic for football, Sabin is the best player of the team. She is very polite and beautiful, and likes to talk (she can't stop talking).
Occupation: Neurologist
Age: 24 years old

11- Doctor Joel NAVARRO: Navarro is hard-working and determinated, and works a lot in the Institute. As a player, he is ferocious and good at starting plays.
Occupation: Gastroenterologist
Age: 52 years old

16- Doctor GEDER Aparecido Cruz: Geder is completely naive. The other doctors easily deceive him, and he has many problems because of that. When he is playing, he is excellent in aerial balls.
Occupation: Rheumatologist
Age: 36 years old

Attackers:

9- Doctor Bernardo MATOSO: a real footballer, Matoso has an excellent positioning and finishing, being dangerous inside the area. As an doctor, Matoso has great talent, and is improving with speed.
Occupation: Pulmonologist
Age: 25 years old

10- Professor Luís Fernando CADETE: was called up because he created the idea of a team composed of doctors. He is an average player, and good at long ranged shots. As a doctor, is nearly retired.
Occupation: Neurologist
Age: 76 years old

18- Doctor Marcelo TOSTÃO: blind of his right eye, Tostão is good at computers and in dribbling his opponents. In the Institute, the most famous doctors despise him, and he doesn't like this situation.
Occupation: Anesthesist
Age: 44 years old

19- Doctor Lara SCHOPPE: the most athletic of the players, but not too good in the field. In tougher games, she can be a good option, as she is resistent. She prepares the other players too.
Occupation: Physiatrist
Age: 39 years old

Coach: THE MACHINE: The Machine is a machine that analyzes the game, sees the best places to attack or the weakest links of the teams and gives orders to the players through earphones.

The Formation: 4-5-1 defensive (Style -2)

Cameron Miller F - A Scientist Footballer, when he is not at home fiddling and creating inventions, he is on the soccer field. Sometimes he melds the two and has been known to occasionally fit performance enhancing devices under his clothing.

Jacob Hunt F - Likes to go naked everywhere... especially on field. He only wears precisely what he has to obey local nudity laws. Of course in all home games he'll naked on the pitch.

Jaden Jackson F - Has a weird fascination with animals, particularily eating them.

Matthew Wright F - Is slightly psychotic though under his meds he is an effective footballer, though once he is off his meds he can act well, like a demon.

Aidan Stewart M© - The more sane sensible one of the group and the captain, has a great football mind but dosn't have the international experience to back it up yet.

Kyle Rogers M - Kyle, is actually the Bastard son of the great lion. Though at the moment no one knows it. Well someone does, but not Kyle.

Xavier Carter M - A gun nut, who collects them. He likes to get guns from all around the world. Though while he likes guns he never brings them with him overseas.

[NS:]The HURD

The HURD signs up for the Cup of Harmony.

Anyone, who RPs before the HURDish weblogs leak the news may do the following: blatantly godmode, employ extreme sillyness, and even do a normal match report. In short: he may do whatever he likes, but funny RPs are encouraged.

The GNUs of HURD:

The GNUs are robots of the Schneier class. They are borderline sentient and 'speak' American Sign Language. None of the individual GNUs has a name except for the goalie, who is links and his substitute, who is lynx. Other HURDists have names if they refer to other GNUs but they seem to change and depend only on the position a robot play on the field. IE: if #4 (mozilla) is substituted out, his replacement becomes mozilla. All names of the GNUs are those of web browsers:

Goalie: links (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Links_(web_browser))/lynx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(web_browser))
Defenders: dillo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dillo), w3m (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W3m), bobcat (http://www.fdisk.com/doslynx/bobcat.htm), arachne (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachne_(web_browser))

Recently our football team has recieved a request for an interview between Ulzaxid Marc_J._Floren and a Milchaman reporter. We were more than happy to oblige and here is the transcript of that conversation:

Milchaman Reporter: Well considering it's not your real name why did you choose of all strikers in World Cup history to take the name Marc J. Floren?

MJF: Well I didn't choose it actually. The coach was looking at the list of hall famers and found Floren listed. Because of his relative recentness it was easier to get information on him and it's a grand sounding name, no?

MR:Yeh it most certainly is, have you done any research on him, do you feel like you can live up to his legacy?

MJF: I haven't done much research on him, no. My understanding is he scored some crazy goals at the end of his career, but other than that no idea. As for living up to his legacy, no way. If we played in full morph form I'd surpass it easily, but in the form we use it's just too difficult.

MR: What do you mean full morph form?

MJF: Well Ulzaxids are made up of five different organisms coming together.
The forms we actually use in every day life is all five forms joined together but in that form we're over 10 feet tall, super quick, strong and can fly, along with our telapathic abilities it would give us quite an advantage so when we play we only use two or three forms morphed together

MR: Most definitely. So with form impairments in mind how do you think Ulzaxid will do in the CoH and you personally?

MJF: Well we've struggled so far in general. After strong play in our first AOCAF, we've found it tough going in the cup itself I think we're all just hoping to make friends none of us are really soccer players and the team is fielded as a diplomatic endeavor more than anything

MR: So then no competitive instinct at all?

MJF: Not much. You have to understand the history of our race.

MR: Which considering I'm a milchamian journalist I don't, explain.

MJF: We're telepathic morphs. We share memories with the members of our morph and as young ones we practice mind swapping so we can experience events from the point of view of everyone involved. Not to mention telepathic conversations and what not. We are individuals, but in a very different way that regular humans are. As such competition is much different for us.

Me: So then what is competition?

MJF: Well most of it is self-competition. Of course we have sports and games and things to maintain our physical condition. But much more important than beating others is improving yourself.

Me: Aha I see now. I also see you're being summoned thank you for the interview.

MJF: You're welcome.

We appreciate the questions from the Milchaman reporter and hope this leads to a stronger relation between our two nations. As such we will also be keeping the Marc_J._Floren name for next cup. We are still looking for names to be used next cup. Any submitted names would be greatly appreciated.

The Islands of Qutar National Squad
Player Profiles

Ben Foster
A very experienced keeper from the lower leagues, captained Cërë Phoenixes to the final of the QFA Cup and was denied the lifting the trophy by a suspect penalty decision. A competent keeper and a strong leader expect the defenders to get a earful if they slack up.

Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 29
Club: Cërë Phoenixes

John Campbell
A one man wall, although not quick on his feet not many players can get past the giant that is Mr. John Campbell. Unfortuanatly his style of defence can lead to more yellow cards than normal though he rarely gets sent off. Surely to be a strong presence in the back four.

Position: Defender
Age: 23
Club: Fratton F.C.

Richard Cruise
A former Premiership player who left his club at the end of his contract in disgust at the control manager's had over the players, the only one in the squad with previous expierience at the international level. A fan favourite but his form of late has people questioning his starten eleven status.

Position: Defender
Age: 26
Club: Tyndall Athletic

Jeremy Stark
A man who proves that defenders can have flair, his inspired runs down the pitch have given his team some very valuable goals. Unfortunalty his brilliance is also his downfall, his runs can leave the defence vulnerable and open to attack. Against stiff competition in the World Cup his style may weaken the team as a whole.

Position: Defender
Age: 23
Club: Embley Park

Richard Watt
The oldest player on the team and has played under Davies at club level and is used to his style, and solid defender and can move up the wing to support and attack but can track back quickly when needed so his absence is not noticed. Will work well as captain leading from the back and can expect respect from the rest of team.

Position: Defender
Age: 29
Club: Cërë Phoenixes

Stephen Kojak
A swift man on the wing can leave defenders and midfielder's in his dust, unfortuanatly can burn himself out and is a might unpredictable. When on form he can be a force to be reckoned with, however when off form can be more of a hindrance than a help.

Position: Midfielder
Age: 22
Club: Fratton F.C.

Greg Richards
An experienced man in the middle and should perform well with his teammate Simmonds, and defensive midfielder who should be able to cover the midfield when the team pushes up. A safe choice from Davies and should add some stabilty to the team in its infancy.

Position: Midfielder
Age: 27
Club: Cërë Phoenixes

Trevor Simmonds
A solid man in midfield and shows Davies' intentions for this world cup, as Simmonds generally plays a defending midfielder and along with Greg Richards should from a solid defensive core in the midfield. Can set up opportunities and can see ahead and deliver a crucial pass when needed.

Position: Midfielder
Age: 24
Club: Cërë Phoenixes

Krieg Kennedy
An important player in the squad Kennedy can turn a game on its head with a clever run and a pinpoint perfect cross, should be able to hold his own on the international stage. His only downfall is his passion can overide his common sense which can lead to show downs with the referee and the referee is generally the winner. If he can keep his passion in check he should prove a key player.

Position: Midfielder
Age: 29
Club: Portchester Town

David Alston
If you haven't heard of this man you must have been out the of country for the past three months and cut off from all media. The man who has quit his Premiership club and is sueing the P.L.A.M. for damages and is seeking a criminal case against the P.L.A.M. for restricting the freedom's of players in Qutar's top league. In addition to being the man thousands are rallying behind he's a top class forward and should support Cartwright well as well as getting a few goals himself.

Position: Forward
Age: 21
Club: None

Richard Cartwright
A bright young talent who's spend most of his career in Nebuleux, but don't doubt his passion and dedication to The Islands of Qutar apparently when he got the phone call telling of his place in the national team he went running around the neighbourhood whooping loudly, unfortunately he'd just got out the shower to answer to call. Watch out for this player he could very well show himself as the next Ali or Armaos.

Position: Forward
Age: 20
Club: Richerenches

FAWA announces Western Afghanistan squad for Cup of Harmony

MANAGER

Khuhekhezal Muhammad
A longtime striker for Nine Columns, the most popular team in the country, Muhammad is a celebrity figure in Western Afghanistan. He also has extensive experience as a manager, having been the top man at club side Ghavvasa for three years, before his appointment as national team head. Most football fans in Western Afghanistan are strongly behind Muhammad, but some football media pundits have criticized him for his recent shenanigans at the Baptism of Fire (Baptism of Frost) in Errinundera.

GOALKEEPERS

1. Khilen Fahifa (Age: 27) (Club: <on loan to> Clube Comercial (Cafundeu))
A seasoned veteran, Fahifa has held the honour of national team captain for over seven years. He is a formidable presence between the posts, and his outspoken leadership ability both on and off the pitch led to his appointment of captain of Herat club side Mardom Yek, though he has now left the club. He reportedly has a close relationship with the Prime Minister.

19. Ali Muhammad (19) (Ghavvasa (Western Afghanistan))
A young talent who rose to the position of top keeper for Ghavvasa at age 17, and who earned his first caps for the national team during WC35 qualifying while filling in for a struggling Fahifa.

22. Ali Hanijule (18) (Nine Columns (Western Afghanistan))
The youngest keeper to ever hold the starting keeper’s job at Nine Columns Athletic. Hanijule has always worn the number 22, in honour of Wahab Rajikh, the late Nine Columns goalkeeper.

DEFENDERS

3. Sherer Inu (19) (Nine Columns (Western Afghanistan))
A skilled tackler, Inu has proven himself the best right back in the Afghan Premier League over the course of the last two seasons. His youth leaves something to be desired in terms of composure; his exuberance tends to leave open spots in the defense, which Western Afghanistan cannot afford in a 3-5-2. Luckily, his skill is unparalleled.

5. Zalakh Ruburirin (26) (Nine Stars (Western Afghanistan))
The only Nine Stars presence on the national team. However, he has been occupying the spot of centre back for years, due to his massive size and heading ability. He captained the Lightning Warriors to a first-ever second-place finish last year, and has reportedly been a player of interest at Nine Columns, the more popular Q’an Coliseum occupant.

8. Qishuhuje Zuneh (20) (Ghavvasa (Western Afghanistan))
Ghavvasa FC’s pacy left back. As the most controversial man in the starting eleven, he continues to be under enormous pressure to outperform the man whose job he took, Assef Zushe. He was a little-known practice squad member with the Orange Aquatics until, like many other young talents, he was spotted by Khuhekhezal Muhammad and promoted.

12. Shabun Rushenaqud (28) (Pesarast Xanto (Western Afghanistan))
Represents Pesarast Xanto’s only choice for the national squad. Unlike most of the rest of the Sorkh-o-siahe, he is extremely slow but brutishly strong, in keeping with typical characteristics of Pesarast Xanto players.

14. Assef Zushe (27) (Herat Jadid (Western Afghanistan))
For years, a fixture at left back on the national team; but Khuhekhezal Muhammad has announced that Zuneh will assume the role.

21. Likhehikh Jakhazakhad (24) (Nine Columns (Western Afghanistan))
A solid and brauny centre back, Jakhazakhad has not missed a match for Nine Columns in over three years. Though this is his first stint with the national team, he will likely see some time, as he his a fan favourite.

MIDFIELDERS

2. Muhammad Zuled Muhammad (20) (Ranca Todo (Cafundeu))
A spectacular playmaker for Ranca Todo, he was been voted Nine Columns Athletic’s most popular player by fans two years in a row, before he was transferred to the Cafundese club side. He is a super talent and set-piece king who may continue to be in the sides of international clubs. Manager Muhammad’s 3-5-2 essentially rotates around the effectiveness of Z. Muhammad’s explosive ability: if he isn't successful, the whole squad is not successful.

6. Nefe Huzish (19) (Ghavvasa (Western Afghanistan))
Another speedy facet of Ghavvasa’s offensive unit, Huzish was expected to be named to the national team starting 11 the moment his old manager was given the title of head trainer. His pure defensive ability will give Western Afghanistan a well-rounded talent in the centre of the midfield, particularly if he has used at defensive midfielder as expected.

9. Sohrab Nukhadufil (18) (Nine Columns (Western Afghanistan))
Youngster who outplayed Qeshelu to pick up the position of left centre mid. Extremely fast and extremely explosive, the national team hopes that he will continue to score goals as he has been, with two crucial goals to save a few points in what would otherwise have been a gruesome qualifying.

11. Iji Muhammad (28) (Ghavvasa (Western Afghanistan)) <Captain>
Ghavvasa has always enjoyed the presence of Iji Muhammad on the starting eleven of the national team. He has played at left wing ever since the creation of the national team eight years ago, and though he is not a superstar, he is always an pacey and solid threat.

13. Khuq Nakhar (34) (Herat Jadid (Western Afghanistan))
The longtime captain of the popular club side Herat Jadid, Nakhar has never earned a cap with the national team due to his very poor pace. However, Manager Muhammad has offered him a spot before the aging veteran’s career ends.

15. Ruzikhuduq Jun (29) (Mardom Yek (Western Afghanistan))
An aging facet of Mardom Yek's midfield, Jun is never a disappointment to watch due to his constant antics. He has been known for years for his laziness if Mardom do not play well, and for his periodic rows with managers. However, he is not without skill, and when his Mardom teammate Qeshelu was sidelined, Jun, who has recently been appointed the new captain of his club side, was the obvious replacement.

16. Muhammad Ramat Muhammad (20) (Ranca Todo (Cafundeu))
A hot-tempered and physical midfielder, Muhammad has gained notoriety not only for his playmaking ability at left wing, but for his string of red cards in the APL - but it remains to be seen if he will clean up his act in the much more foul-strict Cafundeu First Division. He was an excellent replacement for I. Muhammad during the latter's injury.

17. Ali Qer (26) (Sagaye (Western Afghanistan))
Sagaye FC have been playing in the Afghan Premier League for the first time this season. However, the club has always been in the public eye because the national team’s premier right wing was effectively born and raised in the Dogs’ youth system.

20. Uzib Hirir (29) (Daru Khuneh (Western Afghanistan))
Daru Khuneh’s captain has never turned many heads in the goalscoring department. However, his charisma and leadership are significant skills and have earned him a spot on the national team.

23. Amir Ena (16) (Nine Columns (Western Afghanistan))
Ena's absolutely raw unparalleled talent brought him to Errinundera for the Baptism of Fire, where he seared opponents for 5 goals. Though he seemed to struggle more during qualifying against more well established teams, he will surely continue to mature and grow as a talent. He will actually be seeing time in the starting eleven as a forward.

FORWARDS

4. Assef Rushufi (20) (A.F.F. (Cafundeu))
A young but vastly talented and physical striker, Assef Rushufi rose to fame at Mardom Yek before being purchased by defending champions Nine Columns three years ago. After three years with the Lions, during which time he was the scoring king of the Afghan Premier League three years in a row, he was bought by Cafundeu club giant A.F.F. and will hopefully continue to excel next to the superb Heitor. Rushufi is without question the best player on the Western Afghanistan squad.

7. Nakhufani Jafeshijish (29) (Nine Stars (Western Afghanistan))
Even though he has continued to excel as the lone striker for upstart APL success Nine Stars, it was with clear hesitation that Khuhekhezal Muhammad called Jafeshijish up for the national team to be Iqu Afi's replacement. This, however, is not due to a lack of talent on the part of Jafeshijish, but more due to a history of resentment between Muhammad and the Nine Stars organization.

10. Jafaje Zekhesha (27) (Sagaye (Western Afghanistan))
With Sagaye’s promotion to the Afghan Premier League, top Dogs goalscorer Jafaje Zekhesha gained enough attention to earn a spot on Khuhekhezal Muhammad's team. He has struggled, however, both with the national team and with Dogs.

18. Muhammad Izi Muhammad (18) (Sagaye (Western Afghanistan))
Zekhesha’s young counterpart at Sagaye, Muhammad is the only non-West Afghan-born player on the squad. He was born in Bettia to a West Afghan father and Bettian mother, and only moved to Herat after his parents’ divorce.

Starting lineup, changes will be announced in RPs.

1. Fahifa

3. Inu 5. Ruburirin 8. Zuneh

17. Qer 2. M.Z. Muhammad 6. Huzish 9. Nukhadufil 11. I. Muhammad

23. Ena 4. Rushufi

JARISS FREE PRESS
“A Free Press For a Free land.”

Today fresh off an impressive debut on the international stage, the Jariss team has now found out their opponents for the Cup of Harmony tournament made up of the most impressive non qualifiers of the World Cup itself. To have been invited has been a great honor for our team even though they find themselves the lowest ranked team in their half of the draw. However, unlike the WC debut, Jariss is no longer a distant also ran that everyone expects to beat. In fact they have been moved up to 59th in the world from their pre cup ranking of 102nd.

This rank finds them right in the middle of the thick of the fight for one of the four qualifying spots. In fact all but one team in the group is ranked above 40th meaning that seven of the eight teams will be very evenly matched. 21st ranked Cafundeu is expected to have little difficulty advancing to the quarterfinal knockout stages. Now with midfielder Joa Giranu going to play for one of the Cafundeu local squads it will be interesting to see how the match between our two teams plays out.

Coach Maru Hiniru for one was pleased with the group draw. “ Its nice to be considered in the hunt right off the bat here given the tightness of the rankings. And its an honor to be one of only two teams from our Baptism of Frost group to be invited here. I’m sure Western Afghanistan will be looking for a rematch down the line after we knocked them out of the BoF. But its good to see how far we’ve come in such a short time. All these teams are new to us so I hope our defense will be able to surprise a lot of them with our tenacity. It should be fun win or lose and be good experience before the next World Cup.

The betting has been fast and furious at the Grand Hotel casino. As expected Cafundeu is getting heavy play to win the group and the tournament though Commerce heights JSY is also getting some support though in some cases it seems bettors thought they were betting on the #4 team in the world that we faced in the qualifiers and not the JSY entity. The Isles of Qatar in the other side of the draw are currently the third choice of local bettors and Turruth Gordor gets some support despite local dislike of their tactics as the #4 team. None of the other teams have been getting more than 5% of the vote with Jariss at around 3%.

Now with the matches starting this evening it will be interesting to see how much Jariss has learned from the Cup itself when they face Estresse Intenso, the 4th seed in the group. As always our fans are hoping for an exciting low scoring match where they hope our defense will be the difference in getting off to a good start here in the Cup of Harmony.
Bostopia
20-06-2007, 14:48
Kyla Marr, the new (clothed) presenter for Channel 9, is stood outside the hotel where the Bostopian squad are staying in Jinkton City.

[Marr] Hi, I’m Kyla Marsh, here in Jinkton City, Quakmybush. The organisers of the Cup of Harmony, Quakmybush, have released the groups and fixtures for the upcoming tournament.

Bostopia have found ourselves drawn against Sativaville, who were in our qualifying group for the World Cup. Bostopia drew 2 – 2 with Sativaville in Port Flamerty, before losing 1 – 0 in Sativaville. Of course, that was new manager Kelly Firth’s second game in charge.

The other teams in the group are Jariss, Atheistic Right, Ulzaxid, Cafundéu, Jasi’yun and Estresse Intenso. Cafundéu are widely predicted to be outright winners of the tournament, let alone the group, and with Bostopia, the current holders kicking off against Cafundéu, both sides will be hoping for a good start.

Not many are predicting Bostopia will hold onto their trophy, but luck smiled on the team last time round, especially with the penalty shoot-out win against Kiryu-shi, and fans back home and here in Quakmybush will be hoping for another win.

Bostopia’s fixtures look like this.

An on-screen graphic comes up

MD1: Bostopia -v- Cafundéu
MD2: Bostopia -v- Jariss
MD3: Bostopia -v- Estresse Intenso
MD4: Ulzaxid -v- Bostopia
MD5: Bostopia -v- Jasi'yun
MD6: Bostopia -v- Atheistic Right
MD7: Bostopia -v- Sativaville

As you can see, Bostopia have difficult opening and closing games, so the middle run of fixtures will be important.

And with that, it’s back to Jamie in the studio.

WKTV Presents: Half-Assed Jackson

Darius Half-Assed Jackson

“Hey whassup DAWG. This be Darius Half-Assed Jackson. Listen, y’all, I apologize for us not being in the right studio today – we are on location in Revana, Quakmybush, boy! Unfortunately, my f#&kin manager, man, he so cheap he booked us to shoot from this alley, man! There be a homeless guy under my desk. Ah! Mutha$%ka, quit clawin at my leg. Damn. Anyways, I’m just here to talk about some recent issues dat I been going through, as well as the group draw for the Cup of Harmony!

“Yeah, man, so get this. I think I’ve talked about this on my show before, but f%&k it. I got this pet alligator, right? Yeah, he name LaBrandon. LaBrandon, he cool, though, he ain’t gone bite nobody, cuz he a baby. Yeah, he a cool muthaf%&ka. Here he is, in fact!”

<A full-size alligator casually tramps across the set, slowly eating a human leg.>

“Aw, look, he found hisself some lunch! Nothing like delicious homeless people in an alley, man. Anyways, so I gots on the airplane to fly my ass over here, and I sets LaBrandon up next to me… and you know we flyin coach cuz like I told you, my manager he a cheapass. Anyway, LaBrandon gets all cranky cuz he tail ain’t fitting in those damn small-ass seats. So get this! Some f%&kin stewardess comes up to me and tells me that alligators are being increasingly used by terrorists, and that she has been asked by the flight marshall to boot me off the flight! I said, ‘girl, just cuz I from Western Afghanistan don’t mean I’m no terrorist! That’s discrimination!’ And, of course, y’all know dat you don’t want to get in trouble for discrimination these days.”

<Awkward pause while someone coughs.>

“Anyways check dis s$#t out. We got lucky this time around, with the draw, dawg. Man, was dat s#^t off-balance. Look at the other group. Without exception, all eight of those teams could get out of the group. I mean, the odds ain’t good for Jariss or Ulzaxid, but they ain’t bad, and you never know, dawg. My predix are as follows: I like Cafundeu to win the group, man did we screw them over in the qualifiers, they gon’ be out to win this cup, and I like JSY to nab second- they had a rough qualifiers but they due for a rebound. Then I like Estresse Intenso and Sativaville to pick up 3 and 4 respectively. But who knows, Bostopia are the defending champs, so they might get out too.

“Anyways, we cool though, I think. We should be able to clear this group no probs. I like Kiryu-Shi, who have some experience in this tournament, to take the top spot. I’ll take Swilatia for second, Turruth Gordor for third, and my f$*kin beloved-ass Sorkh-o-siahe to take fourth, boy! And I guess The HURD land in fifth, but a distant fifth, man. S#&t.”

Kiryu-shi Prepares for Second Shot at the Cup of Harmony

By Michio Hibbert

Revena, Quakmybush Following another finish just falling short of qualifying for the World Cup Proper, Kiryu-shi expects some success in their second Cup of Harmony, the well respected invitational tournament for non-qualifying teams. The tournament, held in Quakmybush this year, will include two groups of eight teams, with the top half of each group advancing to the knockout stages. Kiryu-shi will play it’s seven games in Revena, against a wide range of teams, from the strong robotic squad from The HURD to the strong newcomers from Western Afghanistan. The Dragons will have to play well if they wish to emulate the success of their last Cup of Harmony trip, when they finished in second place, losing to Bostopia in the finals. Bostopia is also in Quakmybush, although they will be playing their matches in Jinkton City, leaving the possibility of another Bostopia-Kiryu-shi final. First, however, Kiryu-shi needs to finish in the top half of the group stage.

____The first match they will play will be against The Islands of Qutar, a team ranked 58th in the world following qualifications. They finished in a distant fourth place in group nine, behind three really strong teams. They play with a very neutral 4-4-2 formation, strong at both attacking and defending. The midfield battle will be key in order to have a shot at winning this opening match. The second match, against the dangerous Western Afghanistan, is a battle of two of the brightest new teams in International football. W.A. is currently ranked 62nd after a slightly disappointing qualification round. They finished with two wins and in second to last place in a tough group two, but they are very explosive, and can put points up on the scoreboard in a hurry. If Kiryu-shi plays their style of defense, they should be able to capture the victory in their second game. Turruth Gordur will be their third matchup. Ranked 38th in the world, just two spots above Kiryu-shi, they appear to be at a similar talent level. This could be a very good match for spectators. Kiryu-shi will pass the halfway point with a match against one of the favorites from the group, The HURD. The robotic team is ranked 34th in the World, and lost in a playoff match to Qazox, that knocked them out of the World Cup. They will be dangerous to play against. Bushes Been Quaked, a nation affiliated with the hosts of the tournament, will be Kiryu-shi’s fifth opponent. They will likely have the home crowd behind them, making for possibly a very difficult game. They are ranked 53rd. The second to last match will be against Swilatia, a dangerous squad ranked 46th in the world. Kiryu-shi will close out against Keyne Island, who had a very disappointing qualification bid, as they finished with only one win and four points in their group. They are the lowest ranked team that Kiryu-shi will face in the group stages, at 110, and Kiryu-shi should be able to manage a win against them.

____If Kiryu-shi looks forward to the opportunity to attempt to win this tournament again after coming so close the last time that they played in it. They are the third best team according to the ranks in their group, but making it to the next stage is no sure thing, as they will face many challenges from teams hungry to have success after failing to qualify for the World Cup. Another solid performance will boost Kiryu-shi’s reputation as one of the fast rising teams in international soccer, and could boost the national soccer program to lead them to qualifying in the next World Cup.

NOW IS THE TIME
Cafundéu's National Team plays wanting the title

Cafundéu's group of the Cup of Harmony was released. There are two groups, which seem to be equal in difficulty. Although the team avoided the dangerous team of Kiryu-Shi and the destroyers of the qualification for World Cup 35, Western Afghanistan and Swilatia (this without mentioning the nearly-qualified teams of Turruth Gordur and The HURD), the team will face the current champions Bostopia, Sativaville, Commerce Heights JSY and... you'll see soon.

The coach Caio Meback was asked about the group, and he only said: "We can't choose our opponent or hope to pick an easier group. If we are here to win, we need to overcome all the difficulties. If we are the favourites or the best team, as some of the national and international media say, we can't try to avoid other teams." The team seems strong, but its form isn't so good, something that must change, as the competition isn't easy.

Here are our opponents in the group:

Jariss - just appeared in the international football in the last Baptism of Fire, but had a good campaign there and managed to get points in the WC qualifiers. Some may consider it one of the weakest teams of the group, but caution is necessary, especially with the EC Elville midfielder Joa Giranu.

Atheistic Right - a team that had many problems with Cafundéu and suffered some huge losses against the Monopolists. But this doesn't change the fact that they're battling for a good campaign and seem able to qualify at least to the next stage.

Bostopia - the defending champions are willing to win the title again. This time, they are even more prepared to do so, and, in my opinion, will certainly go to the next stage.

Sativaville - experienced in the Cup of Harmony. The team reached the playoffs of the World Cup qualifiers, which we didn't, so they may be in a better form.

Ulzaxid - an impressive team (at least at looking) which had an excellent Baptism of Fire but had difficulties in the qualifiers. It's an unpredictable team, so surprises can appear.

Commerce Heights JSY - another team that will probably go to the next stage, is ready to give work to the other teams, especially Cafundéu, maybe even fighting for the title.

And...

ESTRESSE INTENSO - fate finally gives us a chance to destroy those ridiculous Republicans, who hate our Emperor. Unfortunately for them, their country is now a chaos, and doctors will be playing the games. Doctors! Look at their situation. Now is the time to show them which is the best country, and I'm sure that the game between Cafundéu and them will be one of the most disputed and with some confusions. Our biggest rivals, inside and outside the field.

TIME FOR DOCTOR ROGÉRIO LANDAU'S TRADITIONAL SHORT COMMENTS

Yes, and this time the president of the Landau Institute (not of the country, only of the Institute) will comment about Estresse Intenso's opponents in this Cup of Harmony (best campaign of the team was a 4th place):

Jariss - they are playing well recently, but we must defeat them if we want to qualify.

Atheistic Right - surely one of the teams battling to go to the next stage, our game will be an important one.

Bostopia - the defending champions are here again. Why do I have the feeling that this group seems extremely difficult?

Sativaville - another difficult opponent! With the quality of the group, maybe neither of us will go to the next stage.

Ulzaxid - hmm, it seems a good opportunity to get some points. I think. Their players have some abilities.

Commerce Heights JSY - just when I thought that there were no other strong teams... I repeat what I said about Sativaville.

Cafundéu - oh, no... (thinks for a moment) ... oh, yes! This is a great opportunity. With everybody saying that those futile Monarchists are the favourites to win and blablabla, a victory against them and we'll be respected! And with a win, we'll show them which is the better country! That's our chance!

"Gah, we didn't get what we needed from the World Cup!" exclaimed Mouse who was very disappointed that their plan for world Domination had failed.

"Well, you know we still have another The Cup of Harmony, AFA has stupidly accepted the Quakian invitation, We just have to time a home-made bombs at the right places at the right times and *boom*.

The fall of the religious conspiracy will be for once and all.""

All of the rightists in the room chuckled, they knew how to make home-made bombs and could do so from chemicals found at many local supermarkets... The question was, what would they target and do the Quakmybushian authorities have any clue as to who or what is going to be targetted?

MEanwhile back in Atheisitic Football Association headquarters...

"This is great, we came so close to be able to Qualify for the World Cup, the Cup of Harmony should be a sinch."

He was rubbing his hands together, excited about the prospect of the Cup of Harmony. Another chance for the team to pit itself up against others and show the world once again just what Atheistic Right is made of. Unfortunately he didn't realise just how much would be shown.

On his desk , a very neat desk was a lone piece of paper, it had the group that Atheistic Right was in and this was the document he had

Jariss
Atheistic Right
Bostopia
Sativaville
Ulzaxid
Cafundeu
Commerce Heights JSY
Estresse Intenso

Atheistic Right vs. Commerce Heights JSY

Capitalizts, totally aware of the benefits of a free society uncluttered by concern for "the battler", The rightists should still be able to dominate against this capitalizt team.

Estresse Intenso vs. Atheistic Right

Stupid Quak-doctors, totally un-aware of the benefits of such an atheistic and free society, if the guys in the lnuatic asylum can't handle it well, that's evolution for you. They drop out of the Gene Pool... Good riddance. Idiots.

Atheistic Right vs. Sativaville:

Potheads, nice potheads, that are cool dudes to hang around if they are high when they play who knows what insane plays they might come up with.

Cafundeu vs. Atheisitic Right:

The Monopolists, these guys can do some damage if we are going to have a decent chance to defeat we need to pull out all the stops against this team... and I mean ALL the stops.

Jariss vs. Atheistic Right:

Walkover team, not even worthy of even analysing them

Bostopia vs. Atheisitic Right:

Home of Kelly Firth, who doesn't like Kelly firth these guys have a good football team and a drop dead gorgeous naked chick for their coach. These guys are almost unbeatable.

Atheistic Right vs. Ulzaxid:

These are aliens, pure and simple, they don't quite have the down pat yet but we like their morphing... perhaps someone can... take a sample. easy win.

The top 4 teams in each group progress to the knockouts... This might well be where AR is knocked out once again but we should at lest make the quarters.

[Parriff] seven Llamas and a camel all escaped unharmed. And now, with news of Kelly Firth’s first victory as Bostopia manager, it’s Kyla Marr, in Jinkton, Quakmybush.

The screen switches to a shot of Kyla Marr who’s stood in the hotel in Jinkton city where the Bostopian team are staying

[Marr] Thank you Jamie. As you just said, Kelly Firth’s first victory as Bostopia manager came just three hours ago as Bostopia beat Cafundéu in a battling one-nil win against a strong side. The half Vladmiristaki, half Bostopian Aleksander Cripps scored in the 29th minute with a headed shot following a cross from the right hand side of the pitch. It was a rare lapse in defending for the Monopolists as Cripps was left free to burst into the area once the cross had been played, losing his man and heading the ball into the bottom right corner, past the stranded Júnior in goal.

With me now is Kelly Firth.

The camera pans left to show Kelly

[Marr] Thanks for joining us, Kelly.

[Firth] No problem.

[Marr] Well, your first win, and against a team like Cafundéu. You must be very pleased?

[Firth] I’m very pleased with the performance, especially from our defenders, they did well against the piercing attacks Cafundéu tried to bring us. Those guys can really run with a ball at their feet, Dario in particular, and when Flecha came on it made things harder for them.

[Marr] So, with our next game against Jariss, will you be hoping to use this performance to bolster the team’s performance?

[Firth] Well, they’re understandably very confident about the upcoming run of matches, but we won’t be letting that go to our heads.

[Marr] On another note, how have the shall we say, more established foreign coaches accepted you, coming from journalism into managing?

[Firth] Well, I have a great friendship with Dazza Dallas, who I’ll be visiting once this tournament’s finished, and Cafundéu’s Caio Meback, also a new manager, came to see me before the game and wished us good luck – a bit too much maybe.

[Marr] Well, thanks for your time Kelly, and good luck for the next match.

[Firth] Thank you, and thanks to the fans for their support.

[Marr] Back to you, Jamie.

Manager Hawdon nee Rahim was contemplating some of the marijuana some of his players had gotten from some of the players from Sativaville. The players reported that they were told it was a "wicked good time" and that if you "smoked a bowl" you'd feel like "totally groovy and stuff" but you'd "totally get the munchies". While they had done enough research of human culture this was still his first chance to hold an illicit substance. The Ulzaxid physiology didn't really allow for illicit substances. The slime part of the physiology simply didn't have the right biological mechanisms to undergo drug induced highs or lows or any of the other effects drugs provide. So coach Rahim was confused as what to do with it. Still it was a good sign that his players had progressed in making friends enough to acquire the stuff. And the lab back home would be interested in analyzing. So they were making progress on the main front. The task of winning games still eluded them, but it wasn't a big concern. What was a bigger concern was that they were running out of time to get teams to suggest names for the squad. They were hoping that maybe they played Bostopia they could provide some names for the squad.

Following a poll in the Daily Mail, a national newspaper of Bostopia, the players listed below were chosen by the Bostopian people to be put forward for the Ulzaxid squad.

Steven Serring (MC)
Jamie Trent (SC)
Brandon Dingaer (SC)
Frank Mirring (SC)

We hope the players who use these names show the same spirit of the Bostopian footballer, from our Sunday morning leagues in cities, towns and villages across the nation to the Professional level.

The Jariss team comes back into the locker room after their 1-1 draw with Estresse Intenso feeling pretty good about holding their own with a higher ranked team once again. Now the defending champs Bostopia loom next in their sites.

Fya Panai: <singing> Not losing again uh-huh. Now we get to play some real D here.

Joa Giranu: Well they did score once though…

MInna Dawo: Yeah but I took care of that goal quick enough.

Fya: OH sorry about that mister high and mighty rich guy playing for Cafundeu. I bet you told them all our plays before you left.

Joa: Did not!

Goru Lyani: <softly> Finally, she’s bothering someone else for a change.

Fya: What was that Goru? Making wedding plans with freer already?

Goru: <sighs>

Tali Vindu: Well we didn’t lose, that’s good I guess.

Minna: <hugs Tali excitedly> oh my god. You’re not all grumpy after you gave up a goal for once. She’s cured!

Tali: Well… <sees Gia Banama start to get up> um, yeah all fine now. Heh heh.

Leni Banama: Well we just got the defending champs next. That should be a good game. I bet they’re a bit upset that they’re here again having to defend their title instead of being in the World Cup.

Fya: And they’ll be even less happy once we beat’em!

<team cheers>

Coach Maru Hiniru: OK everyone settle down. Fya quit picking on the boys.

Fya: But…but.. you weren’t even in…

Coach Maru: Fya, when DON’T you pick on the boys?

Fya: well….

<team laughs>

Coach Maru: OK good work today against another higher ranked team than us. Get used to the situation because this time no one in the group is below us so everyone else out there is looking to get wins off us. I think we’ll just have to ruin that train of throught won’t we?

Team: Yes Coach!

Coach Maru: Now I think we’re going to catch Bostopia at the right time. They just knocked off Cafundeu that everybody had winning so I bet they’ll be enjoying that win and look at our match as a nice relaxing one to come off that win into. They probably think it was nice of the schedule makers to give them an easy match after their toughest one. I bet they feel the rest of the group will be all downhill from here for them. We’re just going to have to toss a wrench in their plans won’t we?

Team: You bet coach!

Coach Maru: Once again everything will come from our defense. None of these teams ever face a team that plays a good D like we do. It always throws them for a loop. On the other hand we’re used to seeing all these crazy attacking teams by now aren’t we? Its no big deal anymore.

Fya: Attack all they want but they’re not getting’ through!

Coach Maru: That’s right Fya. We will shut these teams down and we will make the top four, just like where we are now. Now EI was a decent defensive team and the scores showed it, a taste of home with a home like result. Bostopia on the other hand is one of those offensive teams. But let me remind you, they;’re only somewhat attacking so they do remember how to play some defense at least so this could be tricky. Just wait for the counterattacks Minna and you’ll be fine.

Minna: Will do Coach!

Coach Maru: OK hit the shower. Nice start to this cup, a point against a higher ranked team. Now keep up the hard work and we’ll be finding ourselves in the quarters where anything can happen.

OH NO, NOT AGAIN!
Bad result worries country

http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1650/cerrojc1.jpg

The bad form of the team continues. With a more offensive team, built by the new coach Caio Meback, Cafundéu started the Cup of Harmony with a loss against Bostopia. Bostopia can be considered the biggest threat of the Monopolists in the competition, and this bad start wasn't in the plans of the supporters and of Caio.

As said before, Bostopia was our most difficult opponent, so Cafundéu can have better performances against the other teams. After the Cup of Harmony, the country will get prepared to host the next World Cup, so a good campaign in the competition can be good to attract investors and sponsors for the biggest football competition of the world.

Maybe the new formation isn't the ideal for the team. Since the beginning of the game, Cafundéu attacked very much, but there were many missed passes and few finishing opportunities. The defense was working well, but wasn't able to stop Cripps, who headed the ball and scored the goal of the game. Cafundéu didn't have enough strength to react.

Some players were really worried with the situation. Bostopia was clearly the stronger team in the game, and only two or three players of the Monopolists' team had a nice performance. The best chance of Cafundéu came in the last minutes of the game, when Heitor received the ball inside the area and shot. The goalkeeper saved.

After the end of the game, the coach Caio Meback said: "We didn't expect that, maybe we should. We really need to return to the good form to try to win this thing. We need investors and sponsors for the next World Cup." The next game will be against Ulzaxid. A victory is necessary, and Meback will make changes to go after it.

Kiryu-shi Dominates First Match

By Michio Hibbert

Revena, Quakmybush Kiryu-shi’s midfield was at top form to start the Cup of Harmony, as the Dragons cruised to a three nothing shutout over a solid squad from The Islands of Qutar. Qutar, who started with a 4-4-2 formation, was a fourth place finisher in their group, and with a 59th overall rank, could have been a challenging team for Kiryu-shi. However, the Dragons dominated possession and shots on goal for the entire game, and are off to a flying start in group play.

____The match started off well for Kiryu-shi, as they immediately gained possession of the ball and got into a good rhythm early. Hard, accurate passes connected various Kiryu-shi players as they tested the Qutar midfielders. Although the opposing players didn’t do a bad job covering and marking the Kiryu-shi players, the perfect passes couldn’t be intercepted, and no one took bad risks dribbling the ball. The first opportunity came after a solid buildup in the 8th minute, when Hellen Gandy’s looping pass surprised the Qutar defenders, and dropped right in front of Isaac Levi on the right wing, nearing the corner of the pitch. Levi’s no look pass behind him let Pat Mayberry knock the ball in front of the net, where Garret McGee headed a ball towards the net. However, the ball went just over the post, disappointing the excited Kiryu-shi fans. Ben Foster’s goal kick, a booming shot downfield, gave Qutar their first chance of the day. However, Doug LeBlanc won an aggressive challenge against Richard Cartwright in the penalty area, and Kiryu-shi went back to building up their attack. The first goal arrived in the 15th minute, delivered off of a brilliant volleyed shot by Gandy. The magnificent goal came just after another McGee shot just missed, this time hitting the right side bar. Gandy was just in perfect position to capitalize off of McGee’s miss. The only downside of the first half for Kiryu-shi came in the 31st minute, when LeBlanc, in another aggressive encounter with Cartwright, was shown a yellow card by the referee. No one, not even the usually argumentative LeBlanc, disputed the call. Kiryu-shi had was able to fire many more shots in against Foster, but Foster looked very good, deflecting and stopping all of the shots on goal throughout the rest of the first half.

____The second half looked to be a replicate of the first half, as Foster was showing off his skills against Kiryu-shi’s barrage of shots. In the 53rd minute, after a particularly acrobatic save from a shot by Mayberry, the entire stadium gave Foster a standing ovation. However, he appeared to be growing more and more frustrated at the rest of his team. His aggressiveness cost him in the 77th minute, leading to another goal from Gandy as she flicked the ball over him as he charged out towards her. The final score came in the 88th minute from a hard shot by Garret McGee, making up for his earlier misses.

____Kiryu-shi will face Western Afghanistan next, a really strong attacking team. Kiryu-shi’s defense wasn’t tested much today, so it will be interesting to see how they deal with W.A. W.A. didn’t do well in their first match, losing two nothing against Bushes Been Quaked, but they still are a dangerous opponent. Currently ranked 62nd in the world, they are a team on the rise, similar in some ways to Kiryu-shi last year.

Nukhadufil's Mistake Exemplifies Ugly Match

The Avalanche of Mummies, despite their accomodations in the beautiful city of Revana, are not going to sleep restfully tonight.

Today they watched their Western Afghanistan be outwitted by a Bushes Been Quaked team that took their chances when they had them, and capitalized on Western Afghanistan's numerous mistakes. The Bees have not been expected to fare well in the tournament, but if the side is going to get out of the first round they need to beat the inexperienced clubs like Western Afghanistan, and indeed they did.

The Sorkh-o-siahe, on the other hand, find themselves in poor condition, and fighting an uphill battle as Kiryu-Shi, Swilatia, and Turruth Gordor are still to come.

The match itself was a veritable disaster; seven yellows were handed out by referee Van Der Lei, five of them against the West Afghans. However, the most notable booking of the night was Sohrab Nukhadufil's 56th minute red card. Having already picked up a booking earlier in the night, his second put Western Afghanistan at ten men, and this finally gave the conservative Bushes Been Quaked attackers a chance to win.

THE MATCH
9th minute: Nukhadufil tried to stretch a long ball down the flank to his teammate Iji Muhmmad, and the ball was quite nice, but Johann Horabik slid in late and Nukhadufil fell to the ground. No found was given at all, which outraged Nukhadufil. Ten seconds later, a lob was floating back to the Nine Columns midfielder, and when he went up for the header his elbow not-so-accidentally caught Horabik in the face. The yellow came out, and Van Der Lei's pocketbook opened for the first time on the night.

18th minute: Inu tried to chase a ball headed out of bounds, which BBQ defender Nikolaj Grišin was shielding, and brought the latter man down. The foul wasn't terribly worrying at first, but the Cafundese referee flashed the yellow anyway. When Grišin was slow to get up, however, and had to be substituted 9 minutes later, the card looked fair in retrospect.

45th minute: Bushed Been Quaked picked up their first yellow as the teams were leaving for half time. As Ditmar Marino and Sergej Arenskij were leaving the field, Muhammad Zuled Muhammad came over to the two and said something nonchalantly, but with a smile on his face. Whatever, it was, Arenskij was not pleased, and shoved Zuled Muhammad in the chest. Van Der Lei was merely a few metres away, and wouldn't stand for it.

56th minute: Nukhadufil went in for a reckless left-footed tackle near midfield, trying to win a loose ball. Korn-Hofbeck was the BBQ man trying to win the ball, and even as he was still following to the ground, Van Der Lei knew what he had to do. The yellow came out, then the red, and Nukhadufil was escorted off the pitch. This mistake proved to be the one that broke Western Afghanistan's back.

71st minute: Reeling on the defense, Khuhekhezal Muhammad pulled Amir Ena (who had just been booked, to boot) and brought in the latter's Nine Columns teammate, Likhehikh Jakhazakhad. Though this seemed at the time an intelligent substitution, Jakhazakhad proved to be of no usefulness immediately, picking up a yellow card near his own area.

79th minute: Trying to find a shot on goal, Marino appeared to have an opening, and gave the ball a smart touch towards the far right post. But Ruburirin wasn't smart enough to stay away, and ran into Marino's back. Van Der Lei whistled for the penalty; Tamm took, and his nicely placed chip to the upper right fooled Fahifa. One nil Bushes Been Quaked.

81st minute: Just seconds later, right wing back Konstantin Leskov broke entirely free of a lazy-looking Zuneh, and easily dribbled Fahifa to play the ball into the back of the empty net. Two nil Bushes Been Quaked.

Exhausted and clearly in no position to come back, the rest of the match was a drag, with the Bees controlling the ball almost constantly.

Khuhekhezal Muhammad, speaking with the press after the Bushes Been Quaked loss, discussed the upcoming match against Kiryu-Shi.

"That was emphatically not was I was hoping for. But you know what, I can't blame our fans, and there were a substantial number of them here today, and I can't blame our team either. A couple guys did some dumb stuff, but overall you have to say that the Bees just played their game and hit us when we blew it. I'm not angry at Sohrab for picking up the red; frankly, I'm not sure about the second yellow myself. Western Afghanistan has a very good diplomatic relationship with the nation of Cafundeu, and I don't want to disturb that, but I have to say that I truly and deeply took issue with several of the calls that Van Der Lei made today.

"If there's a guy I am perturbed with, and that's if, it's Zalakh. I know that the guy has been playing his behind off at Nine Stars, and he's started every single game for the national team for well over a year- the guy is tired out- but that still doesn't excuse giving up a penalty at a time like that. He just needs to sit down, recover, and be ready to play again when I ask him to. In the meantime, I'm going to be offering that centre back position to Jakhazakhad, who didn't have a great game, but I can tell his confidence is high after winning the APL with Columns.

"No, Jun will not start. I know that scoring a hat trick in the West Afghan Cup final is a big deal, but I don't feel comfortable just throwing a skill position guy into the lineup without him having any experience at all on the national team level. You'll see Hirir at left-centre mid against Kiryu-Shi."

JARISS FREE PRESS
“A Free Press For a Free land.”

Today our Jariss squad had a tough time with the defending Cup of Harmony champions Bostopia as the champs cruised to a 2-0 win over the local team. With Minna Dawo stymied time after time as she tried to push things to the net, Jariss was unable to get much going on offense and soon enough that led to Bostopian goals, one in each half. This loss drops Jariss to 6th of the eight teams in their group with one point and a -2 gfoal differential. However their best chance for a win comes up next as they face 57th ranked Ulzaxid, only ranked two spots ahead of our Spiders.

Coach Maru Hiniru was realistic after the match. “Well Bostopia is first of all a good team, one a few people thought would make the Cup proper this time. This is still our first run through in any international plying field so we’re going to have a few growing pains as we work our way up the ranks. The kids are playing well and remember, going by the rankings we are supposed to finish last so anything beyond that is a success in my book.”

Coach Hiniru also announced one change for the next match. Wishing to give Tali Vindu a bit of a breather after a couple of tough matches, Coach Hiniru has named backup keeper Aru Treni will get the start here. Treni did well in his two starts in the Cup proper and is confident going into his first Cup of Harmony start.

“Hey I’m not here because I’m a bad player you know. Tali’s our girl, I’m just going to give her a breather. I’m looking forward to facing Ulzaxid because hey, I never faced them before. This is what makes these things fun, seeing people you’d never run across otherwise and the more different styles we can see the better we’re going to be so we can qualify for the next World Cup.” Treni said confidently when asked about his start.

Experts are saying this will probably end up in another 1-1 draw for the team as neither squad has looked very strong out of the gates.

McGee's Early Free Kick Jumpstarts Easy Win For Kiryu-Shi

Today's disastrous match against the strong young Kiryu-Shi team ended with a final scoreline of three-nil.

Western Afghanistan found themselves with less than 34 percent of the ball on the game, an astonishing statistic, but not a surprising one when one considers the match itself. In addition to the three goals that the Sorkh-o-siahe allowed, there were nearly half a dozen other close calls that Kiryu-Shi nearly put away.

Assef Rushufi found absolutely no time on the ball, as the steady and confident Kiryu-Shi defense gave Western Afghanistan's midfielders an extremely difficult time of trying to feed the A.F.F. striker.

The very cold and hard turf at the stadium in Revana didn't help either; both Amir Ena of Western Afghanistan and Hellen Gandy of Kiryu-Shi had to leave the match in the first half: Ena because of a tumble he took going up for a header, and landing on his neck, and Gandy because of an awkward landing on her right knee, as the hard ground seemed to worsen the impact. Though both players are not expected to miss much time for their respective clubs, both managers had small complaints to make about the pitch after the game.

THE MATCH

4th minute: After winning the ball from Kiryu-Shi, Sherer Inu looked to play a long ball up the wing. Though he might have found an open Ena, he opted to pass the ball up to Nefe Huzish, who had far less space. Huzish somehow managed to find room near midfield, and dinked a lob near the top of the area, where Ena and Pruet went up for a header. Airborne, Ena wound up on top of Pruet, which earned in a foul in addition to his painful-looking fall to the ground. The injury proved to not be serious later on, but Zekhesha came in three minutes later anyway.

11th minute: Zekhesha wasted no time in making a mistake. From about 30 yards away from goal, Kiryu-Shi striker Garret McGee had dribbled Zuled Muhammad and looked ready to pass across the pitch to find a racing right wing, Pat Mayberry. But Zekhesha slid in, and the pass was blocked easily into a charging Fahifa's hands. Though it looked as play might continue, McGee's slow (and rather dramatic) recovery earned Bettian referee Theo Stregardt's attention, and Zekhesha went in the book.

12th minute: With Diamanti laying the ball off very nicely, McGee slammed a curler toward the far right post. Zuneh got in Fahifa's way as the keeper was trying to make the save, and the ball drifted into the back of the net. One nil Kiryu-Shi.

22nd minute: A scrap near the top of the Western Afghanistan area resulted in Huzish winning a ball and playing the ball out to Qer on the right. However, Kiryu-Shi mid Hellen Gandy went in to try and pluck the ball away at the last second, and missed. She landed on her right knee, which seemed to roll underneath her. Though it later was confirmed to be a mere sprain, Gandy had to leave the match.

45th minute: Gandy's substitute Patrick Mann received a nice cross from Diamanti at the top of the area and brilliantly flicked the ball over his head so that he could play the ball to his right foot. The ball bounced once, unseen by Inu, and Mann volleyed the ball violently along the grass into the lower right corner. Fahifa was furious at Inu as they went in for half time, but it didn't take away the goal. Two nil Kiryu-Shi.

58th minute: Diamanti made one of Kiryu-Shi's only mistakes of the match by bowling over Qer went chasing down a ball near the touchline just minutes after half time. The foul wasn't serious, but apparently it was enough for Stregardt to flourish the yellow.

80th minute: After easily controlling the last third of the game, with the Sorkh-o-siahe looking very tired, and very unaccustomed to the cold, defender Doug LeBlanc managed to find himself in great position for a corner coming in from the right. Though Fahifa could see it coming, and tried to lure LeBlanc into heading the quick lob at the far post, where Zuneh was well-positioned, the Kiryu-Shi man tapped the ball over the West Afghan keeper's head and into the near corner. Three nil Kiryu-Shi.

A VICTORY TO RELAX THE TEAM
Team wants to keep good performance

http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/7200/semttulosp5.jpg

After the first game against Bostopia, when the team lost the game by a result of 1x0, the team continued its campaign in the Cup of Harmony against the creatures of Ulzaxid. Cafundéu played Ulzaxid before, and won twice. This time things weren't different, as the team played well and was able to score five goals.

The result was good to give some peacefulness to the team. The players and supporters were nervous and worried, as the team was collecting bad results in the last competitions. But this victory isn't sufficient, as it was needed. The Monopolists must continue getting good results, if they want to return to the path of success.

The game was very offensive since the start, and both teams tried to score. After twenty minutes, many chances were seen, but no goals. Flecha was the responsible for scoring the first goal, shooting after getting a rebound. Five minutes later, Anormal scored with a long range shot. Before the end of the first half, Flecha scored again. Ulzaxid was able to score in the last play of the half, with Callum_Banda. The game was very good, but wasn't so equal, as the result pointed.

The result was already very good for Cafundéu, winning the game by 3x1. But Caio Meback wanted to keep the offensive style of the team in the second half, and made no changes. In the first minutes, the team had to stop some attacks of Ulzaxid, but soon took the control of the game again, scoring a goal with Dário. The team controlled the ball, and Dário scored again after the middle of the half to end the result, in a good game of the Monopolists.

Caio Meback seemed relieved after the end of the game, and said to the reporters: "That's the team that I wanted to see. Good to see. But we need to play the other games. Hopefully we won't return to play badly, it would be very sad." The coach will probably make some few changes to suit the team better to the opponent, but nothing radical.

The Cafundéu referee, Van-Der-Lei, whistled the game between Western Afghanistan and Bushes Been Quaked. He did a good job, although he had to show many cards to the players of Western Afghanistan. Their referee complained about a sent off, and the referee said: "It was Natália who warned me about that incident." The linesman Natália Campos said: "I did the right thing."

[Marsh] Bostopia today kept on course for advancement to the next stage of the Cup of Harmony, courtesy of a win over Jariss.

The first goal was scored early on, when Aleksander Cripps made a run into the box but chipped the advancing keeper from a tight angle. While it looked like the chip was badly misdirected, it was actually a stunning move, leaving Harry Auderrie to do nought but calmly head the ball into the back of the empty net in the 5th minute of play.

Jariss pressed on throughout the match, with Minno Dawo being awarded the “Best Opposition Player” Award by the Bostopian squad for that players efforts in attempting to bring Jariss an equaliser, and then later on, attempting to bring them back into the game.

The second goal of the game came in the 79th minute, sealing the win for Bostopia. Substitute James Harriff, of Caflin City FC, hit a thunderous thirty yard effort with his right foot into the top-left corner of the goal, leaving a diving Tali Vindu no chance of stopping the goal-bound effort.

Our next match is against Estresse Intenso, a team made up of doctors who are likely to play in styles reminiscent of Cafundéu, considering their geographical proximity. While they may be seen as the lesser of the two nations, Bostopia have learnt by their 5th World Cup not to underestimate any opposition.

And with that, it’s back to Jamie Parriff in the studio.

Kiryu-shi Soars In Their Second Game

By Michio Hibbert

Revena, Quakmybush Kiryu-shi won their second strait match, in a game eerily similar to their first match in this year’s Cup of Harmony tournament. The score, three nil, was a replica of their match against the Islands of Qutar, but this time it came against Western Afghanistan, a recent Baptism of Fire participant. The Kiryu-shi midfield had another dominating performance, even with an injury to Hellen Gandy around halfway through the first half. Western Afghanistan also lost one of their better players early on, when Amir Ena collided awkwardly with Matthew Pruett and came out of the game in the 7th minute.

____Kiryu-shi wasn’t as dominating right out of the gate as they were in their first match, as Western Afghanistan came out attacking the Kiryu-shi defense. However, after the forward Ena was hurt and replaced, momentum swung back towards Kiryu-shi. Ena’s replacement, Zekhesha, led to the first opportunity and goal of the game when he blatantly fouled Garret McGee as McGee was crossing the ball into Pat Mayberry for a good scoring opportunity. However, McGee was able to score anyway with a beautifully placed shot past the W.A keeper following a nice pass from Diamanti from the free kick in the 12th minute. Gandy hurt herself just 10 minutes later spraining a her right knee, an area where she has had problems in the past. Patrick Mann came in to replace Gandy at the head of the midfield and proceeded to have a very good game. He contributed to many of the attacks that Kiryu-shi launched against W.A. and his performance reached a climax with a goal in the last minute of the first half, when a beautiful pass from Diamanti found Mann isolated in front of the goal after a lapse in concentration by the defense. Thus, Kiryu-shi was able to close out the first half on a positive note, with the score two nil.

____For most of the second half, Kiryu-shi played a more conservative game, eating up the clock as they kept possession of the ball, passing the ball through their midfield. Although Western Afghanistan pressed hard, they couldn’t manage to take the ball away from Kiryu-shi. In the 58th minute, however, Diamanti made a mistake, one of his only mistakes of the game, when he committed a vicious foul, earning him a yellow card from the referee. However, most of the second half showcased the ball control skills of the Kiryu-shi midfielders. As the game wore down, Kiryu-shi’s stamina began to shine, and they were able to move the ball up and down the field at will, it seemed. In the 80th minute, after forcing a corner off of a Western Afghanistan defender, Kiryu-shi struck for the third time. This time it was Doug LeBlanc breaking at just the right time to reach Pat Mayberry’s cross and heading it just above the outreached hands of W.A. goalie Fahifa to make the score three nil. Kiryu-shi closed out the game, keeping the shutout.

____With the win, Kiryu-shi is in first place early in the group stages, with six points along with a goal differential of plus six. However, they will have to continue to play solidly if they hope to qualify for the knockout stages. Their next opponent is Turruth Gordur, who’ve played solidly so far, winning a game and drawing a game making them the second place team in Kiryu-shi’s group. They are ranked just ahead of Kiryu-shi in overall rank, and it would be a great win for Kiryu-shi if they were able to pull it off. Gandy will likely miss another game, with Mann filling in for her again.

OOC: Count this for The HURD please. I was logged in incorrectly.
IC:

The GNUs tried their best but still Zuse always felt as if his programming was inadequate. He was near resigning his position. He thought about the Cup of Harmony so far. For some reason, he thought of a certain song from the tenGooz while the scenes passed by his mind:

Well I heard that life`s a gamble
So I thought I`d hedge my bets
Put half my chips on health food
And the rest on cigarettes

The team thought it was clever as well, but you can not hedge a result in soccer. The rather defensive approach versus Turruth Gordur was a disaster. He saw dillo not being able to stop Draco Glaurung, and the shot which threw the ball and goalie links into the goal. The 0:2 was a justified result.

They said a storm was coming round
I did not agree
There were clear skies fars the eye could see

Of course against Swilatia, it all was different. The GNUs dominated the humans. "konqueror conquered the game" as some bloggers commented on his 2 goals. It was a great result for the HURD. But still, in review he feels as if he should not have celebrated that much with the team. He should have spent time implementing and testing some patches instead.

Don't be surprised by what you read
Or see on the tv
Cause history repeats itself with regularity

The third match was like the first to a certain degree. the GNUs had problems to get into the game and did not manage to do anything good in the attack. They did 'hedge' the 0:0 however this time.

Well the moral of this story
Might be very hard to tell
But whatever you set out to do
I hope you do it well

The next matches will be very important if the GNUs do not want to go home after group stage. He feels somehow gloomy. This is the problem with HURDish work: it is not just an occupation, it is something, you care very much for. He stops musing and returns to his computer.
Jariss
23-06-2007, 11:48
The Jariss team is back in the locker room celebrating their 1-0 win over Ulzaxid on a surprising late goal by Leni Banama. The win, the first of the CoH for the islanders, allowed the team to keep pace with the leaders despite still being in sixth place. However they also managed to close the gap on first place Bostopia from 5 points back to only three.

Fya Pania: Hey Tali, Aru got a shutout today isn’t that great?

<Gia Banama rolls her eyes as she hears Fya>

Tali Vindu: Yeah, he played great, he should start next match too I think.

<Gia smacks Tali upside the head>

Tali: Ouch!

Gia: What have I told you about this lack of confidence in yourself? Aru had a good game today sure. But you had to face two veteran teams. Uzlaxid isn’t that much more experienced than we are. You’re getting the start next match so pick up your head and start getting ready for Commerce Heights JSY.

Goru Lyani: Hey we beat them once before so…

Fya: Dummy, that was Commerce Heights, this is like their little cousins or something.

Tranae Vyrroi: So that’s even better, if we beat the big cousin the little cousin should be easier right?

Goru: Yeah Tranae is right.

Leni Banama: Hey let’s get back to the important stuff here. Hey Minna looks like I outscored you today.

Minna Dawo: I know, that’s not right. I’m gonna have to score three goals and get one of those cap tricks Coach talks about to make up for this!

Joa Giranu: Hat trick you mean.

Minna: Hey caps go on your head too, same thing.

Gia: Really Leni, you’re twice Minna’s age, do you have to act the same way as the youngsters.

Leni: Hey I’m much younger than twice Minna’s age, besides it didn’t make a difference to a young’un like you when you agreed to marry me Gia.

Gia: Honestly, you always act the age of the youngest woman in the room.

Leni: And that’s why you love me right dear?

<Fya looks on wondering how she got left out of this teasing of people this time>

Coach Maru Hiniru: OK everyone settle down, Fya…

Andre Miware: Nah Fya was ok today coach it was martial bliss today.

Coach Maru: Well I guess you two are allowed that sort of thing Leni and Gia. OK back to the match, great job today. Aru you’ve really come along since the BoF, great work today. We won the match that even the experts agreed was our best chance. That means Tali is going to be well rested for CH JSY. Which I should remind you is NOT the team we beat in the qualifiers.

Goru: We KNOW that coach. <rolling his eyes>

Fya: <in a loud whisper that everyone could hear> Yeah as of five minutes ago.

Coach Maru: Ok,ok. In any case, they’re another top team, third seed in the group so we’re going to have to play another good match. No time for breaks in this run. Now they’re third right now and the second highest scoring team in the group right now. Its going to be a tough one for the defense but I know you’ll be ready for them. In fact we’re catching them at a bad time. Cafundeu just pounded them 4-0 and that was the first goals they allowed in three matches. So expect JSY to be looking to take out some frustrations on us. Our job is to make them more frustrated. If we can get a win here then suddenly we’re back in the top four and in position to move on.

Minna: They who would we be facing?

Coach Maru: Let’s qualify first then worry about that. But right now I don’t know who has been watching the other group but your old friends Turruth Gordor is leading there. I know you people want a piece of them again. You made up for the first beating by knocking them out of the Cup proper with the 2-2 draw the final day. So now you know they have to be worried about us if we play them again. But first of course we need to qualify. It looks like it is going to be a six team race right now, but thankfully we’re one of the six. Now hit the showers and get ready for another big match against JSY.

JINKTON CITY, QUAKMYBUSH—The numerous complaints by 자스연 (Jasīʼyūn) supporters about Capitalizt SLANI being awarded the States’ automatic qualification slot for World Cup 36—in the words of manager Mitchell Ramírez, “simply because they’re funding the Cup”—were finally silenced on a sunny day in Jinkton City, on which the team were resoundingly defeated by Cafundéu. The men in white seemed powerless to put the ball past Monopolists goalkeeper Luís Octávio Andrade Júnior, who managed eight saves during the match.

Cafundéu started off with a bang, taking the ball from the center spot to the goal in the first eleven seconds of the match—for which Tales Cassiano Assunção Sobrinho recieved the credit. From there, things would only get worse for the 혜성즈 (Hyesūŋjī). Striker Oriala Nisauä, though he played well in the open field, was able to strike the ball with stunning accuracy throughout the first half—into the goalkeeper’s hands, the posts, the crossbar, the stands, and even the corner flag on one attempt. In addition, Tales extended the Monopolists’ lead to 2–0 in the thirty-eighth minute with a thirty-meter lob after Leon Petersdorf had ventured too far from the goal. The second half was not much different—goals from Georgious Metir and Dário dos Campos Salles rounded out the scoring, and the 자스연 (Jasīʼyūn) still failed to find the back of the net. The match ended four-nil to the Monopolists.

In a post-match press conference, Martínez was surprisingly optimistic. “The best thing about a loss like this is that it’s extremely difficult to do worse in the next match,” he said, smiling. “Though we may be a bit more cautious and it might not be a high-scoring battle, I fully expect this team to crush Jariss.”

THAT IS THE TEAM THAT THE COUNTRY WANTED TO SEE!
Convincing positive result against Commerce Heights JSY

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/2014/0379506800vp0.jpg

The victory against Ulzaxid was good to give some motivation for the players, but not sufficient to stop with the supporters' complaints. With this situation, the team faced the talented side of Commerce Heights JSY, leaders of the group at that time, needing a positive result to show the supporters that the team returned to its old form.

In an excellent game for the Monopolists, the players gave a message to the supporters and to the media, with a 4x0 win, more than enough to show that Cafundéu is looking for the title. If the team continues with the good form, our citizens can hope to see a strong team in the World Cup 36. Cafundéu's victory also made the SLANI supporters smile.

The game started with Cafundéu. In a fast attack started by Dário, the ball reached Tales, who inside the area, shot the ball with effect, scoring the goal. After a fast goal, the Hyesūŋjī tried to react. But the attacks weren't so good, and the Monopolists didn't have much defensive work to do, as the opponents were missing many passes and finishes. Tales was able to score again, taking advantage of the bad positioning of the goalkeeper.

Caio Meback was clearly happy with the good performance of the team, and decided to keep the same formation in the second half, only making changes in the players. And the changes were excellent. Anormal found Metir in an excellent position. The midfielder, unmarked, scored the third goal of Cafundéu in the game.

Commerce Heights JSY didn't have much to do, losing the game by a big margin. The team even tried to score, but few balls reached Cafundéu's areas. Grabmann made a good shot, but Júnior was able to make an excellent save. Finally, Dário ended the result, receiving the ball again from Anormal, dribbling two opponents and shooting to score a nice goal. Ha Sūŋ-yun even had a chance in the last minutes, but missed it.

In the end of the game, the coach Caio Meback laughed and wanted to give interviews, just to say: "Now, what do you think? Let's forget the horrible campaign of the qualifiers and focus on the Cup of Harmony, a competition that we can win. I know that I'll leave the National Team when this championship is over, so what is better than to leave as a champion?"

Spiders in Trouble

After today’s tough 1-0 loss to Commerce Heights JSY where a scoreless tie was broken up on a JSY goal at the 81 minute mark, Jariss is now in danger of not making the knockouts. Despite a strong effort so far, this second loss leaves Jariss in difficult shape with three matches to go. Still at four points and seeing fourth place Estresse Intenso at eight most agree it will take at least two wins for the team to have some chance at moving on. Most likely it will take three.

However hope is not entirely lost just yet. Next on the agenda is 50th ranked Sativaville who currently sits at six points in fifth, two points ahead of the Spiders. A must win game for both teams if they wish to stay in contention so expect this one to go down to the wire. But as Sativaville the third lowest seed in the group, this is seen as a winnable match for Jariss. After that they go up against the pointless Atheistic Right who are having a tough run so far sitting dead last on goal differential. This is another matchup that some think is a winnable one for the Spiders to give them two wins in a row if things work out right.

Unfortunately the light at the end of the tunnel is the Cafundeu juggernaut heading for a collision on the final match day where Jariss will probably need at least a point to stay in the picture. Despite a one goal loss to Bostopia it looks like Cafundeu is the best team out there being the four goals scored ahead of the next highest scoring team in the entire Cup and nearly doubling the next highest in the group. Add to that a puny two goals allowed and you find a goal differential nearly three times that of anyone’s in the group. Clearly if things come down to this final match Jariss will need some sort of miracle to advance. Their best hope would appear to be if Cafundeu has clinched a spot and plays a lot of the reserves to avoid injury.

On the other hand a loss or even a draw in either of these next two matches will all but finish Jariss’ chances making the Cafundeu match pointless. So these next two matchdays will be huge for Jariss’ chances to advance to the knockouts.

From the desk of assistant coach, Marina Scots-Willis.

We are in a slump right now, but all is not lost. In our first two matches, we played amazing football; we have the capability to play winning football against the best of teams at any time, but we somehow manage to lose our focus in certain games. To be fair, I suppose, we played well for the most part against the HURD, besides Jon Crow freaking out at the begining of the match and completely falling apart against the robots. I guess we never really knew the extent of his non-technology ideologies, but I digress. Reviewing our tapes from ealier in the Cup of Harmony, our midfield is really the key to our success. Considering we only have one forward, our attacking is more effective if we build up our attack rather than counting on quick counter attacks to create chances. Against good attacking teams, our defense should be more aggressive to attack and steal the ball. I know that this is a pretty big change in our entire philosophy, but looking at the results of the past four games, it is completely true. Just look at the possession percentage in the first two games. We need to be the team controling the pace if we want to win on a consistent pace. Our counter attack used to be able to confuse opponents only cause we were a new team, and no one knew what to expect from us. However, the more and more we play, the less effective our tactics become. The counter attack is not, in any way, a consistant method of producing goals. Controlling the entire pace of the game, focusing on controlled attacks rather than lucky outbursts are going to have a better long term effect on our team. I believe if we talk to the team about this, we will be able to improve the overall quality of our play. It may not come right away, but if we use the models of our first two matches in the Cup of Harmony, we should be able to transform our team into a better overall club. We need to get our three central defenders to cover more territory when the other team has the ball. They need to be out there making plays rather than sitting back and waiting for the other team to make a mistake. With five defenders, we have enough players to get back and make up for mistakes. Maybear and Dia need to slow down the pace more often. Our team is talented enought that we can score if we set up the correct plays, we do not need energy absorbing runs and counter attacks to score. We can press and poke at their defense, finding holes and weaknesses, if we control the ball like we should be able to. So, yeah, coach, I suggest we set up a team meeting to discuss my plan; I'm pretty optimistic about it...

CAFUNDÉU'S ATTACK SEEMS UNSTOPPABLE
Team has the best attack of the whole competition

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/1629/imagemiz7.jpg

Cafundéu is the worse nightmare of Atheistic Right. In the qualifiers for World Cup 34, the Monopolists simply dominated both games with large victories (scoring seven and eight goals, winning by a difference of five goals). And this game Cafundéu got an even better result. Although the team scored less goals than in the previous games against the Atheists, this time the margin was of six goals, in an outstanding 6x0 result.

Those who criticized the team, now have to praise it. With three impressive victories, the Monopolists continue fighting for the title. The next game will be against Sativaville. If the attack continues to score a lot, the opponents won't have much chance. The defense is playing well too, and because of that Meback will probably mantain the team.

This time, Cafundéu took more time to score the first goal. As both teams are very offensive, in the first minutes Cafundéu had some work to contain the attackers of Atheistic Right, especially Miller, who used many equipments in the game, including a whistle that imitated the referee's one (confusing the players). The first goal was scored by Renário, who headed the ball inside the area after a crossing made by Dário. Heitor scored the second goal minutes later, taking advantage of a mistake of the defense.

In the second half, Cafundéu showed all its power, scoring a goal in the second minute, with Heitor again. This time, he dribbled two players and shot in the left side of the goal. Atheistic Right had a good chance with Rogers, but Júnior made an excellent save. In a counterattack, Tales was fouled inside the area. Penalty kick. Heitor took it well and scored another goal for the Monopolists.

But more goals still happened before the end of the game. Anormal tackled an opponent and shot from outside the area, as usual, scoring a goal. Heitor was able to score his fourth goal in the game, receiving the ball from the captain Metir (after Becão's exit, injured), dribbling the goalkeeper and shooting. The ball hit the post and Heitor shot again to score the goal. Six goals, and more three points.

Of course the players, staff members and supporters were commemorating. Caio Meback said: "Ten goals in two games against good teams. I guess that the formation is perfect and our new offensive style suited well the team. More victories will come. We're in the right path, the path for the title, and I don't want to abandon it."

Bar of the Portuguese-killer is now visited by football fans

SUPPORTERS FROM OUTSIDE THE INSTITUTE START TO SEE THE GAMES

The people that live outside the Landau Institute usually don't like the National Team, as it's fully composed of players from the Institute. But now the citizens are starting to like the NT, and some bars are showing the games by nearly-broken televisions. Of course there are many people that still didn't like the team, but the good start in the Cup of Harmony is changing this situation.

DOCTORS STILL DIDN'T LOSE IN THE COMPETITION

And the start was really good. Draws against Jariss and Bostopia, and wins against Sativaville and Atheistic Right put the team in the fourth place, with chances of qualifying for the next stage. The doctors still didn't lose, and they hope to continue with this form, to try to defeat the big rivals of Cafundéu.

The best player of the team so far is the young doctor Letícia Sabin, who is controlling the midfield. But the Professor Jesus Bangu Melo is the main responsible for the defensive efficiency of the team. The Machine was improved, and now it can create better strategies for the team.

“Hey whassup DAWG. Aw s@#t. Man, look at where we at. Yeah, I mean I'm glad as hell that we got four points and s%#t. But we in the doghouse after losing to Swilatia, man. We have got some problems on the defense, man. Yo Khuhekhezal been keepin' Jakhazakhad in for too long, man! He ain't as good as Rubu! This is f#%kin ridiculous! But anyways I apologize, I be digressin. Glad to be here reporting from Revana - I have a special interview today with captain Khilen Fahifa."

Fahifa: "Salaam alaykum, Darius."

Jackson: "Sup. Now, here's what I want to ask you. You've been having some serious problems in the goal, lately, dawg. I mean, we managed to get five goals so far, which ain't great, but ain't too bad, but we been leaking goals like a cheap maxi pad, boy! Eleven?! That is f#&kin unacceptable!"

Fahifa: "Well, I personally don't want to lay the blame on anyone personally, both for the sake of the team and for the sake of honesty. I don't want to single anyone out, and I also truly believe that I am responsible for a lot of the goals that we've allowed so far."

Jackson: "Dawg, that's bulls&*t, you been playin' yo ass off. It be Jakhazakhad's fault. He ain't done s$&t at Nine Columns in all he time there-"

F: "Well, I don't want to put all the blame on-"

J: "Aw, HELL NAW, dawg, you do not want to f%&kin interrupt me!"

F: "Sorry."

J: "Now. Before I let LaBrandon loose on yo stupid interruptin ass, I have one more question. Do you think your performance has been so bad that you is gonna be removed as the captain?"

F: <pause> "I don't know, Darius."

J: "Well I do! LaBrandon, this muthaf#$ka interrupted me, get yo ass in here and raise the ROOF!"

<fifteen minutes later on Sport Authority, a regular WKTV talk show>

"We are saddened to report that Khilen Fahifa has been seriously injured within the last ten minutes, he apparently was attacked by an alligator on the set of Half-Assed Jackson. Though we don't know how severe the injury is, we know three things from the Sorkh-o-siahe trainer. One: he's not dead. That's good news, wouldn't you say, Dave?"

"Absolutely, Mike."

"Two: he will be out for a significant amount of time due to severe lacerations on his right leg and arm. He will almost certainly not be available for the upcoming match against a perpetually angry Turruth Gordor squad, and Iji Muhammad will have to fill in as captain. To make things worse, Khuhekhezal Muhammad has said firmly that Jakhazakhad will stay in. That's bad news, wouldn't you say, Dave?"

"Absolutely, Mike."

"Three: Dazza Dallas might be pregnant with a West Afghan baby! Or she might not be! That's ambiguous news, wouldn't you say, Dave?"

"Absolutely, Mike."

Kiryu-shi Edges Back Into Top Four

By Michio Hibbert

Revena, Quakmybush As this reporter has been bedridden the last few weeks and unable to attend Kiryu-shi matches, he has been trying to piece together what happened from the noises that come from the hotel rooms around him. Although he hasn’t been able to figure out the results of the last two matches, it seems as if the Kiryu-shi team is currently in fourth place in their group, although it seems likely that they don’t deserve to be there. The general consensus seems to be that Kiryu-shi players are dirty cheats that do unimaginable things to their mothers, as well as themselves. In the last match, against Bushes Been Quaked, it seems as though Kiryu-shi initially were losing one nil, by brilliant play by their opponents, and the match was going to be an obvious win for Bushes Been Quaked. However, due to dirty playing by Kiryu-shi and tremendously bad refereeing, Kiryu-shi scored two goals in the final fifteen minutes or so, one by Hellen Gandy and one by Pat Mayberry. Gandy’s was obviously offsides, while Mayberry’s was just not fair. But, with the win, Kiryu-shi is apparently barely in fourth place. They will likely need to win their next two games, against Swilatia and Keyne Island, in order to stay in position to make the knockouts.

RENÁRIO SHINES IN ANOTHER EXCELLENT WIN
Once again, team scores six times in one game

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/425/2491093935garg7.jpg

And Cafundéu continues to show an excellent football. One more time, the team defeated Sativaville by a large goal difference (six goals) and continues in the second place of the group. With a series of big wins, the team really is one of the favourites to win the title. The attack is the best of the entire competition, with 21 goals scored in only five games, more than four per match.

And this couldn't be a better time for the Monopolists to be motivated and strong in the competition. The next game will be against our biggest rivals, those stupid Republicans of Estresse Intenso. The doctors are being lucky in the competition, and still didn't lose. Well, this ends now, as Cafundéu will probably destroy them, as it's the better team.

The game against Sativaville started slow, but soon Cafundéu controlled the midfield and created good plays. After missing some chances, Heitor was the first to score, getting a rebound after a corner kick. The second goal didn't take much time to appear. This time, Ray Kirs shot from the left wing, and the goalkeeper couldn't catch the ball. The defenders started to complain with the goalkeeper, who was very frustrated.

Still in the first half, Cafundéu could score more two goals. One was scored by Anormal, who headed the ball after a crossing made by Léo Mattos. And the other one, scored in the injury time, happened after an intelligent play made by Metir, who dribbled an opponent and passed to Renário, who had no difficulties to score.

For the second half, the coach Caio Meback decided to make all the three changes, to see how the team would react to a new formation. The results weren't so bad, but the performance in the first half was better. The team scored two goals. One with Renário, who got the ball inside the area, dribbled Kogan and shot to score. The other one with Heitor, heading the ball after a mistake of the defender Ota.

In the usual interview after the game, Caio Meback's words weren't much different from the ones of the last games. He said: "I expected a win, but not with this result. The players are impressing me and this is good, I must say that I'm proud of their work. I know that the game against Estresse Intenso is important, as they're our main rivals, but we need to stay calm and think that this is a game like any other."

In terms of disasters, this one is right up there with Krakatoa.

It all started on Matchday One, with a 6-0 (six!) defeat at the hands of Swilatia. Yes, Swilatia, the nation even the first-timers get to laugh at.

Then there was the 4-0 defeat against Qutar. OK, we expected this one, but still, ten conceded in two games is hard to take.

And now, four more defeats later, here we sit, right at the foot of the table.

Screw you guys, we're going home. And we're taking the fans with us; don't come back in a hurry.

Jariss
26-06-2007, 13:24
The Jariss team is already in the locker room after their 1-1 draw with Sativaville as Coach Maru Hiniru stands at the interview area for some post game commentary which usually gives the team time to annoy each other until he returns. However this time Coach Maru told the team to make sure they are watching for today’s comments. As the team gathers around the TV the questions begin.

Reporter_01: Coach Hiniru, how do you feel about today’s match and your team’s elimination from the quarterfinals?

Coach Maru: Well because of today’s results we’ve assured ourselves that we can’t finish last and can still have a shot at fifth if things go our way. And since we were the bottom seed of the group that’s considered a success in my book.

Reporter_02: But that would mean you would have to beat Cafundeu in this final match. Despite being second in the group everyone thinks they will win it all the way they are playing 5+ goals a match the last three. Your team doesn’t have that many the entire tournament. Surely you don’t think your team can pull that off?

Coach Maru: Actually I’m glad you brought that up because yes I do think we can beat Cafundeu and in fact I’ll make a guarantee that we will.

<The Reporters sit in stunned silence as cries of horror can be heard faintly from the Jariss lockerroom>

Reporter_03: What possible reason do you have to say anything like that Coach Maru? Have you been drinking?

Coach Maru: <Laughs> Not at all. Look at it this way. This is our Cup of Harmony championship right here and Cafundeu just wants to get through the match healthy for the knockouts so I don’t think they’ll be taking any major risks out there. Then you have to think their legs are getting tired from all those shots and goals they’ve been making since the first matchday. And most importantly, of the teams they’ve beaten who among them is serious about playing defense like we are?

Reporter_02: Well Estresse Intenso plays defensively and got pasted 5-2.

Coach Maru: Well yes they have a defensive feel to them but defense is everything for us. We attack only when we’re sure we have a good bid in the works. I think we’re going to confuse Cafundeu because we don’t leave all sorts of openings to exploit when we go on the attack. They’ll have to work much harder than they’re used to and as this match is all but meaningless except for positioning to them are they really going to want to go all out in this kind of match. And besides we have a secret weapon as well.

Reporters: What is it?

Coach Maru: Um “secret” means I’m not saying. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to get my team ready for a big upset.

<Meanwhile back in the locker room>

Fya Panai: We’re doomed! They’re going score 50 goals because Coach pissed them off!

Tali Vindu: Maybe more! I knew coach hated me.

Goru Lyani: Hey what’s his secret weapon does anyone know?

Minna Dawo: Dunno is he bringing another player in?

Leni Banama: Nope its against the rules to add players after the tourney starts.

<Coach Maru enters the room>

Fya: Coach why did you say that? Cafundeu’s gonna kill us now!

Coach Maru: I see everyone’s forgetting something that we have that none of these other teams have.

Team: What?!?

Coach Maru: we have an expert on the Cafundeu team here.

Tali: Who?

Coach Maru: Joa?

Joa Giranu: What?

Coach Maru: You’ve spent this season on EC Elville right?

Joa: Yeah…

Coach Maru: So you know these guys better than anyone else out there because you been up against most of them right? Heck Eduardo Monte is your teammate there.

Joa: Well yeah but we lost a lot.

Fya: Yeah but you know all the secret tricks they like to use so spill it so we can beat them!

Joa: Well ok. Eddie likes…

A massive silhouette filled the corridor leading to the Turruth Gordur dressing room. The hulking figure laughs quietly to himself and enters the dressing room. Almost immediately all the players drop what they are doing, even the naked female players who are in the middle of getting dressed. Turruth Gordur Manager Gorgol “The Butcher” Harad’s presence commands everyone’s attention.

“That is what I like to see! You came down upon the whelps of Western Afghanistan like a ravenous murder of crows and ripped them to shreds! 4-0… It should have been 8-0! But, no matter. Those four goals by Draco were blistering shots served up well by your combined efforts. Go ahead! Savor the fresh blood of fallen foe! “

The team roars back in unison, “Turruth Gordur!”

The Butcher nods, laughing and roaring back, “That’s right! That’s right! You are a pack of seriously badass motherfuckers! Don’t let up now! I just heard that Jariss was actually looking forward to facing us!”

The whole room erupts into laughter that shakes the room and ceiling. “Those bastards actually think that we care about their dog and pony show? They couldn’t even survive the Cup of Harmony!” laughs The Butcher. “Listen to me! If we ever get another chance to play those weak little lambs I want you to pulverize them. Hurt them so bad that they’ll need to recruit new players. Do not give them a moment’s rest. Do not even let them take a breath of air without getting in their face!”

The team roars back in unison, “Turruth Gordur!”

“In fact…I will schedule a friendly against them as soon as we get the opportunity,” he says growling quietly. “But, for now, we have one more group game… Swilatia is up next. You know what to do. You’ve been doing it all tournament long. Show them no mercy whatsoever. Play smart. Play strong. Leave them a tattered mess.”

The team roars back, “We shall not be stopped!”

The Butcher grins and nods. “Badass… Simply badass.”

Kiryu-shi Draws, On The Edge of Elimination

By Michio Hibbert

Revena, Quakmybush Kiryu-shi, after starting the Cup of Harmony very strong, have been struggling to gain points in the last few weeks. They’ve only won one out of their last four matches, and are currently sitting in fifth place in their group, just outside of qualifying for the playoffs. They had an opportunity to get into better position entering the final round of the group stages, but they managed a weak looking draw against Swilatia. Swilatia came into the match with the same record as Kiryu-shi, although with a much better goal differential. Kiryu-shi played a conservative game, hoping that they would eventually wear Swilatia down, but the Swilatia players were very tough, and the game ended with both teams still possessing identical records.

____Kiryu-shi started off the match without Hellen Gandy, who’s still suffering from a nagging knee injury that limits her mobility as well as her kicking ability. Emily Boyle was the starter at attacking midfielder instead, assigned the duty of keeping Kiryu-shi’s pace throughout the match. Although Boyle seemed to do what she was assigned to do, the strategy of the entire team seemed flawed, as they weren’t able to get any great attacks for most of the entire first half. Meanwhile, Swilatia was pressing forwards to start the match, attacking Kiryu-shi players aggressively whenever they got a touch on the ball. In just the fourth minute, Swilatia created an excellent chance that was just thwarted by an excellent effort by Isaac Levi, who swept down from the right side to clear a ball that was already by Jon Crow and rolling slowly towards the back of the net. Swilatia kept pressing and creating chances while Kiryu-shi just barely kept the ball from crossing into the net. However, in the 38th minute, Kiryu-shi couldn’t hold on any longer. Iverson made a bad tackle a couple of yards outside the penalty area creating a good chance for Swilatia to score. The free kick was a beautifully place cross in front of the Kiryu-shi net. Many players from both sides converged to try and get a head on the ball, but the final touch went to a Swilatia player whose deflection just got past Jon Crow’s outstretched arms to put Swilatia up one nil. The rest of the first half was uneventful, as Kiryu-shi’s defense tightened up and Swilatia eased up a little bit.

____The second half started with Kiryu-shi playing ball control utilizing their players in the midfield, as they tried to gain back some of their confidence and sharpness to get a rhythm together. Swilatia looked as if they were letting Kiryu-shi keep possession, as long as they didn’t approach too close to scoring. This made for a really slow fifteen minutes at the beginning of the second half, with no shots or corner kicks for either side. In the 62nd minute, however, Swilatia seized an opportunity to increase their lead. After a sloppy play by Diamanti, where his weak pass was intercepted easily, Swilatia broke out to for a fast counter attack. They appeared to be on their way to scoring another goal, with Kiryu-shi’s defense caught off guard and out of position, but Doug LeBlanc stormed downfield and used his tremendous speed to cut the ball out from under the attacking Swilatia player. LeBlanc then made a quick turn up field and used his adrenalin to keep him going as he dribbled the ball past the halfway line, churning past opponents before passing the ball to a wide open Emily Boyle. She received the ball, cut past a defender and made a quick accurate pass back to LeBlanc, who was still in an all out sprint. He took a shot with his first touch, but it was deflected off the knee of a Swilatia defender and the ball was knocked off above the goal, leading to a corner kick for Kiryu-shi. Mayberry took the kick from the right side, and arced a long ball across the net. The cross had incredible spin and several players misjudged the ball; jumping only to have the ball keep on curling over their heads. The ball came down in front of Diamanti, who was completely alone on the far side of the goal. Diamanti was able to trap the ball and aim it strait into the lower corner of the net, to even the score. After that goal, neither team was able to create another good chance, and the game ended in a one one draw.

____Kiryu-shi is currently in fifth place in their group, but they still have a good chance to make it into the final tournament. Their group has five teams grouped around three points, which means that no team has a guaranteed playoff spot going into the last round of matches, and six teams still have a chance to make it. Kiryu-shi will play their final game against the winless and pointless Keyne Islands team, and if they win, they should make it into the final round. However, if they finish in either third or fourth place, they will have to face either Cafendeu or Bostopia in their first matchup, two teams that they would love to not play. Hellen Gandy will sit out for at least another game for Kiryu-shi, with Boyle getting another opportunity to start.

THE EMPIRE PROVES ITS SUPERIORITY
Time to laugh... Estresse Intenso loses the game against us

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/15/semttulouo0.jpg

That was the game that the supporters wanted to see. After waiting for a long time, finally Cafundéu would be able to face Landau Institute's team in a football game. Of course the Monopolists were the favourites, and because of that the faith in the team in the streets of the country was extremely high. The rivals changed provocations, and, when the game started, everybody was very nervous.

In the end, the real footballers defeated the doctors. It was an easy game, but because of the rivalry it had some violent moments, with two players being sent off. Cafundéu started the game losing, but in the end could easily dominate and attacked a lot. Later, the Emperor made a public speech, saying that the result showed the Monarchy's superiority.

Now, to the game itself. In the first minutes, Cafundéu controlled the ball possession and attacked well, having some chances, especially with Anormal and Heitor. Estresse Intenso had only a good counterattack chance, with Matoso. But minutes later, Landau Institute's team surprised. In a fast attack, Bangu Melo crossed the ball and Matoso shot. The ball hit the tree's head, which was inside the field (the tree is E.I.'s mascot) and returned to the area. Sabin got the rebound, shot and scored the goal.

The ridiculous goal angered the Monopolists, but in the first attacks after the goal, the goalkeeper Varela made some very good saves. But he couldn't hold Cafundéu for much time. Metir passed the ball to Barbosa, who invaded the area, dribbled an opponent and shot to score a goal. Two minutes later, Anormal headed the ball in a crossing made by Dário and scored the second goal. Still in the first half, Heitor made an excellent pass to Dário, who shot with style scoring the goal. Before halftime, Bangu Melo was sent off because of a violent foul.

For the second half, the coach Caio Meback made two changes in Cafundéu. In the side of the crazy Republicans, a strange machine was talking with the players, giving orders to them and gesticulating (yes, with its arms). Later, the doctors put their earphones and returned to the game with one change. And it worked. Sabin crossed the ball to the area and Cadete headed to score the goal. After scoring the goal, the old Cadete had a muscle injury and had to leave the game.

But the result was still good for the Monopolists, who changed passes in the midfield waiting for the best moment to attack. Sometimes Estresse Intenso could start a play, but they weren't dangerous enough. After the middle of the half, Flecha appeared. He scored one goal dribbling three opponents and shooting with strength. Later, he scored another goal, this time shooting from outside the area. In the last minutes of the game, Léo Mattos was sent off after kicking the opponent's chest.

After the game, supporters invaded the field to commemorate and to criticize the tree, which had to be protected by the police. The coach Caio Meback said: "A game between rivals, very exciting and, what is better, a good result for our team. We're qualified, but we must go after the first place of the group, so I'll use the main team. Only Léo Mattos and Kirs won't be able to play, but we have the right replacements."

The CCFM, in an official letter, declared that the goalkeeper Fahifa, of Western Afghanistan's NT, should go to Cafundéu, to complete his injury treatment in his club. "Our infrastructure is better, and, when he finishes his treatment, he can start training in his team, which is Clube Imperial (he is there on loan)", said the letter. The CCFM also found strange the declarations of Maru, who talked about a "secret weapon" to be used against the Monopolists.

Hiniru Resigns

In a surprising move Jariss national coach Maru Hiniru has resigned his post as team cvoach after the team's crushing 4-0 loss to Cafundeu in their final match in the Cup of Harmony. When questioned about this decision Coach Hiniru cited his recent press actions as the reasons.

"I'm supposed to be here making things easier for the team as they travel to places many of them would never see otherwise having spent time overseas myself. Instead i found myself putting additional pressure on the team by making guarentees like this last match which backfired miserably and reflects entirely on me. The team is a good bunch of kids still learning their way around the intenational scene and don;'t need their coach firing up the opposition or making any crazy demands of his players.

"The team has done very well in its first action and i hope to be able to watch this team continue to improve and someday qualify for the World cup itself. But they need a steadier hand on the reigns than mine. So the best thing i can do is step down before i make things any worse." Hiniru explained.

The All Star coach of the Baptism of Frost now leaves a huge void that most in Jariss do not think can be filled. While names are being mentioned from the other local team coaches none of them have Hiniru's experience overseas. Some think a foreign coach might be the best choice while others are looking for a more local choice. More on this as it developes.

ANOTHER BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE
There is no doubt now that Cafundéu fights for the title

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/8035/semttulowb6.jpg

The last game of the group stage was important for Cafundéu, as the team had the chance to finish in the first place, having more motivation in the last games of the competition. And, once again, it was the day of the attackers. Caio's strategy doesn't give much chance to the defenders to score, that's why players like Becão and Léo Mattos still didn't score, and why the strikers scored so many goals. But everything is working well until now.

In the game against Jariss, Heitor, who didn't score in the game against Estresse Intenso, scored three goals. The other one was scored by the young and talented Flecha, who became a starter. The only sad news was the injury of Metir, who left the field after suffering a violent foul and will be substituted by Kliek or Falcus (probably Kliek, as Falcus isn't fully fit).

The game started and Jariss defended well. In the first attacks, Cafundéu tried to use the centre of the field, using the speed of Flecha and the good positioning of Heitor. Anormal's strength and Dário's technique helped the team in the play creation. But, after many attacks, the defense of Jariss continued holding well the opponents. They even had a chance to score. The ball went to Giranu, but his shot was horrible.

After noticing that the centre wasn't the best place to attack, Meback sent Coelho and André Luís to attack using the wings. In the first play, Coelho crossed the ball to Anormal, who headed it to the goal. The goalkeeper made an excellent save, but Heitor shot in the rebound and scored the first goal. The second goal was scored in the last minutes of the half, when Heitor invaded the area and shot with strength.

Caio made no changes in the team for the second half, but he had to make a change in the second minute of the half. Metir was going to score a goal, but Lyani slided in his legs. Penalty kick, yellow card to Lyani (he deserved a red), and Metir had to leave the field injured. Kliek entered in his place. Heitor took the penalty and scored the goal. The last goal was scored by Flecha, who invaded the area, dribbled Lyani and shot when the goalkeeper was leaving the goal.

After the game, Cafundéu's plans were achieved. The team ended as the first placed in the group stage, and would play Bushes Been Quaked in the quarterfinals. Another good thing was that Estresse Intenso didn't qualify. The coach Caio Meback said: "We finished the first part of the Cup of Harmony. There are more three games between us and the title, so we need to get back to work."

Kiryu-shi Crushes Opponent, Makes it into Knockouts

By Michio Hibbert

Revena, Quakmybush Kiryu-shi, for the first time in weeks, looked like they had a dominant team on the pitch as they crushed the depressing Keyne Island squad seven nil to close out the group stage of this years Cup of Harmony. Keyne Island barely showed up to play, and with no supporters in the stands, they looked completely disheartened and lackadaisical, playing some of the worst football Kiryu-shi has ever experienced since their Baptism of Fire run before their World Cup 34. Two players for Kiryu-shi had hat tricks in the first half in the most one sided half of football Kiryu-shi has ever played.

____Keyne Island started off in a 4-4-2 formation, although the team didn’t seem to have any real tactical strategy or cohesive plan. Kiryu-shi came up playing aggressively as they didn’t seem to believe that Keyne Island could continue to actually play that bad throughout the entire match. They were proven wrong. The scoring started in the fourth minute, as Mayberry dribbled down most of the right side, slipped into the penalty box and laid off a nice pass back to Emily Boyle, who scored her first goal of the competition. She doubled her contribution just three minutes later, when she scored on a rebound off of a Garret McGee header that hit the cross bar. Kiryu-shi dominated possession, as Keyne Island didn’t seem to bother attacking Kiryu-shi players with the ball, they mostly just hung back and tried to clear the ball out if it came near them. After several more close chances for Kiryu-shi, Garret McGee scored his first goal of the match in the 14th minute, volleying a cross that came in from Isaac Levi. Kiryu-shi went into a relative lull after that, not scoring again until the 29th minute as they calmly kept their possession without pressing as hard. In the 29th minute, Emily Boyle single-handedly took on several Keyne Island defenders to score her third goal of the match, as she really stepped up to fill Hellen Gandy’s shoes. Pat Mayberry got his second assist when he spotted Gregory Iverson in the 35th minute open outside of the penalty box, as the defensive midfielder got into the scoring mix with a explosive shot into the back of the net to make the score five nil. In the 38th minute, McGee scored off yet another cross from Pat Mayberry for his second goal, and then finished off his hat trick in the 43rd minute after a clumsy play by the Keyne Island keeper. The final score after the first half was seven nil.

____The second half was more or less pointless, as Kiryu-shi seemed to be running drills as Keyne Island hung out and talked with the ref, trying to get him to cancel the rest of the match. Any remaining fans left the stadium by the 50th minute, as did the reporter. There was no more scoring, and the game ended a bit early.

____Kiryu-shi will look to take on Bostopia in the opening round of the knockouts, the team that they suffered a dramatic overtime penalty kick loss too in the finals of the last Cup of Harmony. Bostopia is once again a very strong team, who match up well against Kiryu-shi. It should be another close, exciting match, and as Kiryu-shi has improved since their last time playing Bostopia, they hope that they have a good chance of winning and advancing into the second round of knockouts. Hellen Gandy will sit one more day, as Emily Boyle will try to build on the best game of her international career and win another match. Kiryu-shi will need to have strong play from their midfielders, who need to be able to control ball possession and keep Bostopia from getting the ball and creating chances.

ONE MORE VICTORY, CAFUNDÉU GOES TO SEMIFINALS
This time, team wins by a difference of two goals

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/3355/brascu7.jpg

Cafundéu reached the knockout phase of the Cup of Harmony. The first opponent of the Monopolists was Bushes Been Quaked, a team that had some difficulties to qualify. In Cafundéu, the morale and confidence was high, and the team played really well. This time, not a big win, but still a good result, as the competition is reaching its end and now the games are becoming more and more difficult.

Meback mantained the same formation, but didn't send the full-backs to attack very much. Instead, he decided to release Becão to attack in the corner kicks. An intelligent choice, as Becão is very efficient when heading the ball. In the end, Cafundéu didn't have much problems to defeat Bushes Been Quaked.

Cafundéu started the game with a fast attack. Dário dribbled an opponent and shot to the goal. The goalkeeper made a good save and sent the ball for a corner kick. Kliek took the corner kick, the defense cleared, but Anormal took the rebound. The midfielder ran over a defender, made a beautiful dribble against Lev Petrovič Elʹcin and, when the ball was still in the air, he shot, scoring the goal.

After such a fast goal, Bushes Been Quaked had to attack to try to recover. But the team missed many passes, and the best chances came with Horabik and Marino. But the good defensive work of Anormal and Becão, and the good positioning of Júnior stopped them from scoring. The first half ended, and the things didn't change much in the second half.

In the second half, Cafundéu's main objective was to keep the ball possession, holding the opponents. Sometimes, the team attacked, and very well. In a chance, Flecha invaded the area and shot. The ball hit the post. Minutes later, Heitor received the ball outside the area and shot. The shot wasn't much strong, but it hit Tamm and deceived the goalkeeper. It should be an own goal, but the referee awarded the goal to Heitor.

After scoring two goals, Cafundéu didn't see much need in scoring more, so defended for some minutes. After noticing that Bushes Been Quaked didn't seem dangerous, as it is a defending team, the Monopolists returned to attack, but without much strength. In the last minutes, Becão headed the ball after a crossing from Kliek and scored a goal. In the last minute of the game, Eduardo Monte tried to stop a crossing, but scored an own goal.

The victory sent Cafundéu to the semifinals of the Cup of Harmony. The coach Caio Meback was delighted, and said to the media: "Our performances have been solid, and this is essential. Now that we are in the semifinals, we need to keep our team organized and our tactics must be efficient, so the trainings will be very important." He was going to say more, but Barbosa jumped on his back to commemorate.

Now, the team faces The HURD, a team of robots. If they have the same quality of that machine of Estresse Intenso, Cafundéu can easily win, but unfortunately we don't know the real level of quality of those robots. In the other semifinal, last competition's runner-up Kiryu-Shi faces Sativaville. In my opinion, Kiryu-Shi faces us in the final, but I'm not Pai Dinah.

Mo' money, mo' problems

Okay, HURDists and HURDettes, we acually made it to some form of post group-stage match and emerged a victory. now I think we should collectively ignore that this is in the Cup of Harmony and not in the world cup. The match against the <curses the lack of a decent IME and resorts to c'n'ping> 혜성즈 was a close one but the robots had the upper end eventually. During half-time, the mascots of the GNUs, a group of galapagos penguins waddled onto the pitch and curiously examined the area. The penguins seemed to inspire the GNUs to a scoring frenzy. They scored 2 goals in the next 3 minutes. The frenzy might have continued, but then, a group of symbols of libertarianism entered the field. a herd of porcupines. Not only did they confuse the sensors of the robots. They also pierced all the available balls. I have no idea why the capitalizts use such destructive mascots for their political ideals. Someonne had to run to the nearest sport equipement store and buy a new ball - and then someone wanted to sue that person because the replacement ball did not have the names of the sponsors. Moneygrabbers! The capitslizts eventually stopped the threatening and started playing again. They now did control the game better, but they did not manage to catch up. The match ended 2:1 for the HURD!

Revenge is Sweet For Kiryu-shi

By Michio Hibbert

Ruckus, Quakmybush Two years ago, Kiryu-shi was just finishing out their first year of competitive international football. After winning the Baptism of Fire and doing decently in the World Cup Qualifications, they found themselves in their first Cup of Harmony in Turori. They did pretty well, beating significantly better teams a few times and finally found themselves against Bostopia in the finals. Winning the match would mean Kiryu-shi would’ve really given Kiryu-shi a feeling of legitimacy and belonging in the international soccer community. They fought hard keeping Bostopia to a two-two draw after regular time ended. It was still tied after overtime, three to three. Both teams were exhausted going into the penalty shootout. It was a pretty bad showing, and Bostopia won the shoot-out two goals to one.

____Kiryu-shi has played a very up and down Cup of Harmony thus far, losing focus at times and losing pretty winnable games. However, with the rematch against Bostopia, they played very good football against a very good opponent. Kiryu-shi was determined that the team of the unaging 11 year olds would not knock them out of the same tournament for the second time in a row. Bostopia has played pretty well during the Cup of Harmony, finishing second in their group behind the powerful Cafendeu squad. With five wins, a draw and a loss, they had a better record than Kiryu-shi by three points, although Kiryu-shi had a goal difference of 12 to Bostopia’s six. Bostopia had survived on defense, allowing just five goals in their seven matches.

____Both teams started the match off slowly, gently moving the ball back and forth the pitch, trying to gain insight into their opponents strategy, avoiding over committing and leaving holes for their opponents. Kiryu-shi’s players played back for the most part, with Emily Boyle and Garret McGee the only two players who were really forward a lot. Boyle made a lot of runs down the field, but no one could get the ball to her, and she was often closely guarded by several Bostopia defenders. She wasn’t playing at the same pace of the rest of her teammates, and often looked as if she were playing forward instead of in the midfield, not getting back on defense fast enough. However, Kiryu-shi managed to prevent Bostopia from creating any chances either, until the 34th minute. Matthew Pruet slipped and fell backpedaling, creating a huge gap right in the center of the Kiryu-shi defense. A Bostopia forward almost put the ball away into the net, but Jon Crow made a tremendous reflex save to knock the ball out of play. That shot opened up the game a little bit, as both teams started to play more aggressively and create chances. Boyle got a few good shots off, but none of them managed to cross into the net, and by the end of the first half, she already looked exhausted from making all of those runs downfield.

____For the second half, Kiryu-shi started off with Patrick Mann as their attacking midfielder instead of Boyle, while Bostopia kept the same formation and lineup. In the 51st minute, after more fast paced football, Bostopia finally went ahead. A beautifully placed ball from Freddi Marsh fell just behind the Kiryu-shi defense, leading Harry Auderrie perfectly. The forward was able to easily slip the ball past Jon Crow for the first point of the match. Kiryu-shi started to attack very aggressively to try to get the match tied back up, as Bostopia fell back to defend their lead. After several close attempts, Kiryu-shi broke through the Bostopia defense in the 72nd minute, as a beautiful play by Pat Mayberry left several defenders in the dust, with Mayberry alone the right wing with the ball. He made a beautiful cross into the middle where Garret McGee, using his height advantage, headed the ball into the net. The rest of the second half was a tense affair, with neither team able to control the ball for long. The whistle finally blew to end regulation time with the score still tied, one to one.

____During the first fifteen minute overtime, neither team looked comfortable enough to score any goals. Players were tired and their legs looked heavy, and neither side could manage any good chances. After the first half was done, Kiryu-shi replaced Garret McGee with the veteran Hiro Mason coming in in place of Garret McGee and Carmen Chow replacing Giancario Diamanti. Bostopia also made a few moves, replacing some of their weary players. The moves looked as if they paid off, as both teams looked rejuvenated with the fresh legs running up and down the field. Six minutes into the second overtime, Kiryu-shi struck, when Chow dribbled into the penalty area and tapped the ball back to an open Mason, who sent a nice shot into the lower left hand corner of the net to put Kiryu-shi up by one. However, before Kiryu-shi could regroup, Bostopia struck back, Auderrie scoring his second goal of the match after a long run up the center of the pitch. Neither team could break the tie for the rest of the overtime.

___For the second time in two matches, Kiryu-shi and Bostopia found themselves in penalty shootout against each other. Kiryu-shi’s lineup had Mason, Mann, Mayberry, Iverson and Chow, but they only needed the first three. Mason, Mann and Mayberry all converted their chances, while only one of the first four Bostopia players did, with some excellent guess work by Jon Crow in goal. Kiryu-shi won the marathon of the game, and with it, the ability to move up to the next round in the tournament.

____They will face Sativaville, who defeated a strong Turuth Gordur team to make it into this stage of the knockouts. Sativaville finished fourth in their group, and are currently ranked 50th in the world, behind Kiryu-shi. However, they are in no way a pushover. They qualified for the World Cup as recently as World Cup 33, and they are a strong all around team. However, if Kiryu-shi plays well, they should be able to win and advance to their second strait Cup of Harmony final. They will face either Cafendeu, the strongest team in the Cup of Harmony, or the HURD, the dangerous robotic team that scares keeper Jon Crow. Either would be a difficult game to win.

IT'S TIME TO FACE THE FINAL FRONTIER
Just one more win needed to win the title

http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/674/imagemro6.jpg

Semifinals of the Cup of Harmony. Most of the citizens of Cafundéu were in front of a television or were listening to the radio, to follow the team in the difficult game against The HURD. The offensive team of Caio Meback showed some wonderful performances, winning games by large results and scoring many goals. The supporters were anxious to see if the team could mantain the good work.

But the supporters didn't suffer much in the game. The Monopolists once again had a magnificent game and defeated the GNUs scoring five goals. Heitor played very well, scoring two goals, and Kliek and Becão scored one. Tales, who entered in the game in the second half, scored the last goal of the game. Another big result, to motivate the team to play the final, against Sativaville. In the last game, a big 6x0 victory. Can Cafundéu repeat the performance?

Meback's first strategy was to use long ranged passes to find Flecha in the attack. As Flecha is a very fast player, he could use his ability to appear in front of the defenders to try to score. But it didn't work. Dillo and bobcat did a good work in the defense and could start some good counterattacks. Júnior had to make some good saves in the first half. Cafundéu could score only after the thirtieth minute, with Kliek, taking a free kick from outside the area.

In the last minutes of the first half, Heitor turned things better for the Monopolists, scoring the second goal of the game, taking advantage from the bad positioning of w3m. When the teams returned to the second half, the supporters could easily notice that Meback wanted more goals, as both Renário and Tales entered in the game.

The HURD's robots couldn't hold the pressure. Cafundéu started to create fast attacks, using the wings and the centre, and two robots collapsed and had to be substituted. Another one had a breakdown and was substituted too. Cafundéu scored another goal with Heitor, dribbling arachne before shooting the ball. After the third goal, the Monopolists continued attacking, but the goalkeeper links made some good saves.

But links couldn't save Becão's header. After a corner kick taken by Kliek, the defender jumped high to head and score the goal. The situation, which was already difficult for The HURD, became even worse when one robot had a malfunction and started to collect garbage on the field, ignoring his duties of player. Another one got stuck in the grass, and stayed there until the end of the game. In the last minutes of the game, Tales scored the last goal of the match.

The game ended, and Cafundéu could commemorate another good victory. This time, the coach Caio Meback was calm, but still excited with his team: "Only one game left. This game against The HURD was simply fantastic, the players really did their best. Of course our opponents had some problems, but our whole team had a good performance. Well, let's try to win this title!"

Minutes after the ending of the game between the Monopolists and The HURD, it was discovered that Sativaville defeated Kiryu-Shi in the other semifinal. The news were considered good, as Cafundéu defeated Sativaville in the group stage, and will be able to use its best players in the last game of the competition.

CAFUNDÉU WINS THE TITLE WITH AN OUTSTANDING CAMPAIGN
In the Final, the attackers had a secondary role

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/2554/semttulouu6.jpg
Players lift the trophy

The last game of the competition, a game that would decide a title, the Cup of Harmony. Cafundéu, the best team (in the rankings) that didn't qualify for the World Cup, had lost only one game in the competition, and would face Sativaville in the final. Sativaville finished in the fourth position in the group stage, and suffered a huge 6x0 loss against the Monopolists. So, Cafundéu was the favourite to win the title.

During the campaign, Cafundéu scored a lot of goals. The attackers played really well, while the defenders didn't have much opportunity to score. Only in the knockout rounds that Caio Meback changed the strategy, giving more freedom to the defenders, who started to score too. In the final game, the attackers didn't score.

But the midfielders did, and because of that, Cafundéu won the game and the title. The citizens of the country commemorated going to the streets with shirts and flags, shouting and singing the country's anthem. TV channels stopped their programs to show the commemoration of the players in the field, who danced, threw shirts to the supporters, and stole the wig of the man that gave the trophy to them. The party was complete, and, when Cafundéu players return with the trophy, the supporters will be waiting for them.

Cafundéu started the game with an offensive strategy, as the attack was working well and because Sativaville didn't have a good defensive record in the competition. And it didn't take much time for the Monopolists to score. Nearly the tenth minute, Heitor shot the ball to the goal. The goalkeeper made a good save, but Dário got the rebound and shot to score the goal.

The game seemed easy and the team relaxed a bit, holding the ball in the midfield and attacking less. Because of that, Sativaville was able to grow in the game, and scored a goal. Copp was fouled inside the area by Becão, who received a red card. Dejohn took the penalty kick and scored the goal. But Cafundéu reacted fast. Anormal shot from outside the area and scored a beautiful goal.

Before the end of the first half, Cafundéu continued attacking, and scored the goal in the fortieth minute. Tales made an excellent pass to Dário, who headed the ball to the goal. The goalkeeper saved, Léo Mattos shot the rebound, the ball hit the post and went to Dário again. The midfielder shot, the ball hit the leg of the defender, the post and returned in the goalkeeper's head before entering in the goal. 3x1 for the Monopolists.

Cafundéu returned unchanged for the second half, but less offensive, of course. But the team didn't stop attacking, and had some good chances with Heitor and Flecha. Sativaville had few chances, and in most of them a wrong pass happened. Then, in a free kick opportunity, Kliek scored the last goal of the game, and the players just waited for the final whistle to commemorate.

Caio Meback talked with the media: "We won! Now I can leave the National Team calm, as I know that I completed my mission. Now let me commemorate!" He went to commemorate with the players, who went to the cameras only to say "I love you, mom! (or dad, or sister, or brother, or wife, or son, or daughter, or dog, or parrot, or sofa)" or "I knew it!." End of the Cup of Harmony, with the victory of Cafundéu
