Velocity: A vector quantity which refers to "the rate at which an object changes its position."

A peaceful, quiet Saturday afternoon. A highway dotted with light traffic. It is the standard mid day, Saturday, just outside of Northampton, Imitora. A true international city, one that has been described as a mix between Tokyo, Miami, Los Angeles, Houston. On the cutting edge of entertainment, nightlife, worlds apart from the benign. Northampton is not only home to some of the most intense night clubs, concert halls, shopping centers, and architecture that borders on fantastical. It is also the self proclaimed home to one of the world's most misunderstood and maligned past times.

Power: The rate at which work is performed or energy is transmitted, or the amount of energy required or expended for a given unit of time.

The black Porsche 997 Turbo shot across two lanes of the highway, the rear fascia missing the front bumper of a large eighteen wheeler by a not more than a ghost's whisper. The far from stock three point six liter box six, powered by two variable vain geometry turbos, pushed the limits of its aerodynamic body, shooting it far past the century mark. Very few of the roads in Imitora had speed limits, but there was still that unwritten socially accepted speed that few vehicles broke. Most of the traffic hovered somewhere between ninety five miles per hour and one hundred and ten. The Stuttgart Shooter out of Zuffenhausen was pushing past one sixty five, and still moving.

Acceleration: A vector quantity which is defined as "the rate at which an object changes its velocity."

Far in the left lane, no more than five yards back from the Teutonic Terror, was one of Toyota, Aichi's best. The Royal Sapphire Pearl 1998 Supra Turbo, equally far from stock, raced on behind the Porsche. The large single turbo wailed, each shift producing not only the harsh whistle of the blow off valve venting excess boost to the atmosphere, but also running the car rich. Each time the throttle closed, fuel that survived the ignition process was shot out though the exhaust manifold, hit the superheated stainless steel of the down pipe, ignited, and sent a ball of fire screaming out the tail pipe.

Speed: The rate of motion, or equivalently the rate of change in position, many times expressed as distance d traveled per unit of time t.

The two cars were engaged in just one of the many battles fought daily in Imitora. Every hour of every day, two or more drivers took to the highways and streets of Imitora, held a finger high to the law, and turned the public streets into their own grand prix. These two were no different than the others. Each had stratospheric power levels, and equally stratospheric top speeds and acceleration numbers. Each driver piloted their car with an expert flair, testing the physical limitations, and pushing past them. At just under two hundred and five miles per hour, the black 997 had a clear lead on the Japanese beast. The battle, for now, was over. However, many more would come later that day, as they did every day.

If I had all the money I'd spent on cars...I'd spend it all on cars.

There are numerous car shows. Gatherings where manufactures come together and defend parting your wallet and money for one of their vehicles. Shows where the merit of driving a luxury car, a sports car, or the economy grocery getter is never questioned, where the newest technology in the automotive market is show cased with super models. Shows where fancy concepts are put on turntables and scantily clad members of the more tender gender wave at on lookers.

There also a number of parties. Fancy dress diplomatic affairs where the most powerful people in the world gather to talk golf scores. Internationally acclaimed parties off the coast of Spain or in some of the more western Eastern European nations where world famous DJs gather to share their skills. Massive concerts where world famous bands raise some money for a charity, and make themselves looks good for the less well monied.

Then, there is the Imitoran Festival of Speed. A two week long, 24/7 affair where all of the above, and then some, comes out in force. It is not a party. It is not a car show. It cannot be defined or reigned in by such terms. No, it is an event.

Fourteen days worth of the hottest cars in the world, the hottest music in the world, and hottest women in the world. Tuner cars modified by those who think that there is no such thing as fast enough. The top production models offered by manufacturers displayed to wet the appetites of those that can, and can't, afford. A non stop party atmosphere, with every type of music desired being offered. A contest including best of show, best tuner, and the like, that offers more than just money, but respect, to those that win. And for the first time in its well storied history, the Imitoran Annual Festival of Speed is no longer an invitational event. It is now internationally open.

OOC:
Ok, so, I've decided that with all the people on here that seem to always be involved in racing type RPs, or car manufacturing (seeing as a nation can be plenty involved in such on your regional pages) and the like, lets have a car show. But regular car shows (I go to them all the time) are boring. When Hot Import Nights popped up, they almost had it. But it’s just too short. A day to check out all the cars and party? Screw that. Let’s go for two weeks.

So this is where you all come in. I want people, who are interested, to join in. You can enter one (or more) of your nation's tuning companies. You can enter a privately sponsored car. If you have auto manufacturing companies, go ahead and bring them in too. If you just want to walk around and enjoy the party and sights, feel free.

For those entering cars, be them production models, tuner house cars, or cars that your character (someone has to be a driver) personally owns and works on, just toss up a description of the car (maybe why if any reason they chose to build it), and what category it belongs in. Categories are as follows:

Production: Basically stock cars that come out of a factory. Or a farm house, or where ever. These aren't privately owned cars, but basically the manufacturer brings the car to show it off.

Euro Tuners: Mid level, and a few upper level, tuned up Europeans. BMWs, Audi/VW, some Porsches, Mercedes Benz, stuff like that.

Asian Tuners: Same as above, but for Asian cars.

Muscle Cars: Pre 1980 American made. Your big blocks, SBCs, 'Maros and Mustangs, the like.

New Muscle: Post 1980 American Made. Everything from Ford Escorts to tuned up Corvettes.

Supercars: Stock and modified super cars, ultra exotics and what have you.

Lifestyle cars: For all the fans of chromed out, big wheeled, ten thousand dollar sound system, fancy paint cars. These can be any make, but they are more designed for show than go.

Concourse: Old cars. Like, real old. Like 1930s old. But look good. Basically, cars that no mere mortal can afford. Not that many cars at this show are gonna be like that anyways.

There is more than just the car show and party, mind you. There will be contest and events that go on as the show does. Remember, its two weeks long (RP wise), so there is plenty of room for things to happen. In my next post, I'll describe the area at which the event takes place, as well as any other details needed.

Also, I would like to add, as I have said, this is more than just showing off cars. There will be time for guest speakers, conferences, open forums for discussion, good stuff like that. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away, and let’s see if we can get this going.

His Royal Highness is most welcome at the Festival of Speed, and space will be made for his vehicles.

Information regarding the lay out and tabel of events of the Festival will be made public shortly. However, at the request of several individuals, the Festival Committee is now releasing the list of major Imitoran tuners that will be represented at the Festival:

Bat Shit Crazy Tuning- Don't let the name fool you, BSC Tuning is one of the most serious Imitoran based tuners. Focusing on taking high end exotics from Italy, BSC Tuning has made a name for itself on the theory of there exists no such thing as too much power. While numerous BSC cars will be represented at the show, a Twin Turbocharged Ferrari Enzo Ferrari and a heavily modified Maserati MC-12 will be brought specifically by the shop to show off their skills.

Northampton Import Automotive Specialists- THE Imitoran speed shop, NIAS has been around for as long as anyone in the game can remember, and most likely longer. Starting out as a simple tunning shop in Northampton, NIAS grew to a full lifestyle store. Some of the most powerful cars of all makes in Imitora have had their work done at NIAS, and will be represented heavily at the Festival.

Spartan Tuning- Even in Imitora, muscle has its place. Spartan Tuning has taken one of the most iconic American automobiles, the Chevorlet Corvette, and turned 'Vette tuning into a true art form. From the classic lines of the first C1, all the way to the power house super car that is the C6 Z06, Spartan offers near any modification a Corvette owner could ask for.

New Owl Customs- New Owl Customs is an off shoot of the original Black Owl Customs, a high end tuning boutique that cattered to the super rich. New Owl takes it a step further, and tosses the idea of car tunning out the window. Working much along the same lines as companies like Gemballa, Ruf, Alpina, and Maybach, New Owl Customs makes very unique, one of a kind automobiles. Not only will they be represented by a number of very satisfied customers, but they will also be holding an open contact session.

Psychosis- Psychosis is a relative new commer in the auto tuning game in Imitora, but has come out strong. Specializing in an odd, yet pleasing blend, of BMWs, Porsches, and Maseratis, Psychosis is shooting to be the new signature tuner in Imitora, and globaly, for these brands. In attendence will be shop owner and CEO Ryan Fortier, as well as his head tuning specialist for Maserati and Porsche. He will also be using two of his own, self tuned cars, to represent his company.
