Zwangzug?

For all teams, please read below about posting rosters:

Number of players: mininum of 15, maximum of 25

RATINGS: you have 45 points to "spend" on the team's ratings. Each catergory is from 1-10 points.

(EXAMPLE: TEAM A
STARTERS: 5
RELIEF: 8
HITTING: 7
POWER: 10
SPEED: 5
DEFENSE: 10)
Under this example, Team A's starters will usually last 5 or 6 innings. The relief is good, but could allow a few runs. The team will get good hits, many homers, a couple of steals and have few errors.)

(EXAMPLE: TEAM B
STARTERS: 10
RELIEF: 10
HITTING: 10
POWER: 10
SPEED: 3
DEFENSE: 2)
Under this example, team B's starters will work into the 8th or 9th inning, the relief won't give up many runs, and they will score a ton of runs and have many hits, but will have many errors and is slow on the basepaths.)

Also for your park/stadium a rating of -1, 0 or +1 is needed. This will help determine the scores more accurately.
-1- PITCHER'S Park, (fewer runs scored)
0- Neutral (average runs scored)
+1- HITTER's Park (more runs scored)

One final thing for RP purposes:

If you RP before me you may:
CHOOSE MY STARTING PITCHER: Y/N
CHOOSE MY RELIEF PITCHER(S): Y/N
CHOOSE HOW I SCORED: Y/N
EJECTIONS: Y/N
GODMODE: Y/N

Have fun and see you at the WBC2!!!

(ooc: Gonna get this right, If you host, you can't host for the next 2 WBC's)
Az-cz
08-06-2007, 08:07
Az-cz signs up to defend our crown. Depending on the internet situation and other things we MIGHT also be able to host.
Iansisle
08-06-2007, 10:40
The Longshoremen will give it another run-around.

Iansisle Longshoremen
Starting Pitching: 10
Relief Pitching: 7
Contact: 8
Power: 3
Speed: 9
Defense: 8

Keys to winning: overwhelming starting pitching, speed and experience on the basepaths, solid defense.
Weak points: pop-gun offense needs to concentrate on small ball, relief corps is mediocre if starter gets into trouble.

(-1, pitcher's park)

As always, the only restriction on godmoding with my team is that I have to get a chuckle out of it. If it's funny, it flies. End of story.
Milchama

We sign up again and ask where we stand as semi finalists considering apparently we don't have a ranking.

Also shouldn't higher ranked teams get more points to spend?
St Samuel

St Samuel sign up
Zwangzug

(Poor Milchama, left out of everything...:P)

Uh, us again. Do we put rosters and everything in this thread?

I assume Qazox will send the 45-point scorinator to the host(s), whoever it/they turn out to be?

And Milchama, I'm guessing that the point breakdown is more of a style modifier, and that rankings for previous success will be factored in in other ways.

Sorry Had Wentland on the brain, Milchama should be tied for 3rd, sorry.

And Milchama, I'm guessing that the point breakdown is more of a style modifier, and that rankings for previous success will be factored in in other ways.

As for point One, I had to send my other computer's hard drive out a couple of weeks ago to be fixed and that is where the scorinator is, so unless I get it back soon, i can't send anyone a copy of it.

And for point 2, Yes it is a style modifier. IF the host(s) want to they can allow returning teams to add a point or two, It's really up to them.

And for Rosters/ Stadiums/ Ratings, please hold off until the RP thread.

I'm getting internet installed at my house on Friday. If I get a scorinator I could start on Monday. Would that work? I'd need an explanation of how to use it, but should be ok.
Qazox
19-06-2007, 07:01
Az-cz, the scorinator I had for the first WBC was lost when i had to send my other computer out to be fixed. So I can't send you or Zwangzug one to use. but here's basically how I did it:

For either team's runs:
A: Road team
B: Home team

{1/2 A's Hitting(squared)/ (B's [Starters+Relief/2]+def/2)}

IE: Team A's hitting is 8
Team B's Starters is 5 Relief is 6 and Def is 10 and plays in a Hitter's park (+1)

[(8*8)/2]/[(11/2)+(10/2)]= (64/2)/(5.5+5.0)= 32/10.5= just about 3 runs (round up or down as needed)

Hits are the above formula plus the following

*(9-stadium rating)}/3

3*8/3= 8 hits (oncea gain round up or down as needed)

For Errors:
[B's def (10)/ (A's Power*A's speed)]*9 (for innings)

10/ (7+5)= 10/12=(.8333*9) = 7.50 That number was how many innings before an error occured, so in this example, team B wouldn't commit an error until the 8th inning (Round down for below X.50 and up for equal to orabove X.50)

The RP bonus threw me off, as I just added it to either the home team or road team, (depending on who Rp'ed). I added it to the road's hitting after multipling and dividing (ie: 64-->65) and for the Home side I added it to the defense (10-->11). That's one reason I had so many realtively low scores.

Feel free to make any changes that you may need to make it better.
Az-cz
19-06-2007, 07:56
Huh? Where are the random numbers in that? How hard would it be for you to throw that in an excel sheet for me? Making scorinators is not a strong point of mine.

I don't particularly care to host...If Qazox explains the scorinator a bit better I could possibly code it into Works Spreadsheet for Az-cz, however.

I do think that the current scorination is too much, and that a simple score would be better. It would allow RPers more freedom to choose their scoring, errors, etc. I'd be willing to make a scorinator that would just output scores (and have someone else use it), but the statistics given probably wouldn't help: we'd need more along the lines of a simple style modifier like the World Cup.
Az-cz
19-06-2007, 14:34
I'm willing to host. I'm fine using Qazox's format or a different one. So long as it's got a random factor, an RP factor, a way to deal with home bonus and style, and rank from the last tournament it's fine with me. As for scheduling and what not I'll try to get that all set up as soon as I have a scorinator.
Az-cz
21-06-2007, 13:51
Anybody able to get a scorinator together for me?
Zwangzug
21-06-2007, 16:48
I've got a tentative scorinator (read: ZWCOS ripoff) that I can send to Az-cz; extra innings seem to be the most subtle difference between soccer and baseball. Oddly enough, there's no mention of them in Qazox' post: how did you generate the line scores?
Az-cz
21-06-2007, 17:01
Alright. Sign me up to host then. Zwang, TG me on nationstates and I'll send you my e-mail.

I'd like to have 24 teams. So anybody who can scare up 1 or 2 more signups would be great. If need be I'll have Ulzaxid sign up so we just NEED one more although two would be preferrable.

Also how should I handle my games? Do you care if I scorinate them?

The line part is part of what makes baseball scores unique. Baseball of all the sports played on NS is a uniquely statistical game so I think the scores should be treated with those statistics.

Maybe you don't have errors or hits but at least have the innings where everybody scores that's so key.
Az-cz

Mil,

My hands are tied by the scorinator. I'll do whatever it let's me do. Also at this point I plan on scorinating my own matches unless someone has objections.

For extra inning games, I just used dice to be honest with you. As for the line scores, Made them up. As i've said in a couple of other threads, had some stuff to get through, and I apologize if my explanation here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12786917&postcount=30, didn't help at all. Somehow it worked, and it got wiped off my computer when i had it fixed a couple of weeks ago. So i apologize again.
