WorldVision Song Contest 3 singups (wide open)

So, this is baisically like eurovision. Same basic structure, although this is on NS, and nations of any region can join. If you do not know what Eurovision is, you can find info on it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision).

How does this work: Everyone signs up in this thread, like you do for a world cup (simple "we sign up" post). then in the rp thread there will be 2 waves of rp's. In the first, posts shold give a description of the national final, and show the title of the nation's song and its artist. In the second wave, everyone posts their show. This should include what happens on the stage and that kind of stuff, and must include the lyrics, unless you post a video, wich gives you the ultimate nerd award, or post an MP3, which will put you close to getting the ultimate nerd award. Do not use artists/songs that exist in RL (parodies are okay, as long as enough is changed). Voting will be done IC, so you shoulld post your votes in the thread at that time, the way its done in eurovision ( giving the best songs (in your opinion) points, the best 12, second best 10, then next 8, then 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.

The steam coming out of the little teacup in front of the indendant seems to curl up in very pretty little rings as it rises thorugh the sticky air of LNR's wet-and-hot summer, followed quietly, ponderously by the intendant's tiny, dark eyes, his nose taking in the smoke's funny smell.

He inhales the smoke, briefly wondering what exactly is in there - but eventually he ceases to care, and just starts to type.

The Post-German Republic - which is to say, Radio Twenty-Oh-Oh-Two - YOUR Station for Transcendental Teaparties - is most certainly interested in participating in the contest (And we'll try to avoid bands such as the one that caused the last embarrassment), and while we're at it, we'd absolutely love to host the event, too.

Our hosting bid is mostly based on our station's closeness to the local football club's stadium - they may be a third league team, but the stadium's still spacious, and with the effects of global warming having kicked in a fair while ago, the risk of an open-air event ending in rain is pretty low, anyway.

Besides, the underwater ruins of old Hamburg are pretty to dive in (Some very pretty fishes there. The colours - just amazing), if any visitors or artists have an interest in such, and we're a pretty laid-back country, as far as sex, drugs & rock'n'roll are concerned - we're certain that any guests will just love it here.

The event would be moderated by Miss Sabine Franke, renown for her cleavage as well as for her, ah... Occasionally cynic attitude, and sufficient media coverage is, of course, a given - despite our abysmal performance the last time around, WVSC 2 was a great success over here (If not necessarily for the intended reasons), and we hope to further increase this popularity.

Yours sincerely,

~ The Radio Twenty-Oh-Oh-Two Staff - YOUR Station for Transcendental Teaparties!

Message sent.

And from the outside, the dull thuds of the drums can be heard, eternally in the background, only occasionally rising to crescendos of sheer noise, deafening the drummers, and drowning out everything else.

Dictator Buck stood at the window, admiring the imposing sight of the Insurance World offices his window offered. He snapped his fingers.
"Servant!" A uniformed man scurried into the room.
"Sir, I resent you calling me......." The man was cut off mid-sentance.
"Silence! Servant, type me up an email." Buck boomed.
"I've got a name, you know." he said under his breath. "Yes sir, right away!"
"Right, Bomble will this year enter the WorldVision Song Contest! We, as a strong, united land, shall band together once more! We shall turn on our TV sets, tune into channel one, and back our boys (or girls) fighting to gain a prize so prestigious, so....."
"Should I be writing this down?"
"No, you fool! Oh, I forgot what I was going to say! Ok, type this...."
There was a brief silence.
""Bomble is in.""
There was a longer pause.
"Is that it?" Said the uniformed man. "You could have done that yourself!"
"I know, but I get confused with these machines. I never have understood them. You know, in my day we......" Buck turned from his gaze from the window and saw an empty room.
"Youngsters these days!" he said...

Just a thought on the hosting rights, why not give it to the winners of the previous competition like they do in the real thing.

With the ahead of schedule construction of Fattyboland's first international airport (Vina International Airport) we are now in a position to enter a contestant in the 3rd WorldVision Song Contest. Not only is our fair nation interested in participating in the WVSC, we would also like to place a bid for the hosting rights of this competition. If we were to win the hosting rights, the event would be held in the Vina Entertainment Centre in the captial city of Vina.
http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/6821/proposal2x3iz7.jpg
The VEC has a maximum capacity of 25,000 - with seats being allocated proportionally to guests from participating countries based on populations. Giant screens will also be set up across the city for those unavailable to secure an in stadium seat. There will be enough accommodation for all international guests, with the majority staying in the VIA Hotel, The Grand Mercury Hotel, The Sentenial Plaza Hotel & The Regency Hotel. Extra public transportation services will be running during the comeptition not only for services to the VEC but across the entire Vina public transportation to encourage international guests to get out and see the sights of Vina. Fattyboland are serious about becoming a significant part of the MEDC of Nationstates and we feel hosting the WVSC will help us in reaching our goal
FATTYBOLAND 2 HOST THE 3RD WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST !!!!
Kura-Pelland
10-06-2007, 10:59
Kura-Pelland will participate; selection show 'This Is Our Sound' will determine the entry from a selection of six through a nationwide online vote, and will be aired soon on the country's leading television channel NTV1, who will also broadcast WorldVision itself.

Kura-Pelland also wish to declare their interest in hosting the event in the 24,000-seat Unity Arena in the capital city Trilan. The building forms part of the Unity Complex that serves as the focal point of the city, the new united capital of a country that was previously divided into two by the Mura River; the border city of Trilan, a war zone for some years, has been redeveloped totally as the capital of a united Kura-Pelland and the Unity Complex is at the centre of this. The arena lies on the west (Kura) side and is a stark glass cube; a 68-storey skyscraper immediately west of it is linked to an identical tower across the river through an aluminium bridge, also going over the Arena and the identically-sized Unity Museum on the Pelland side.

Inside, the venue is well-equipped for a major international event; the stage will be placed at one end of the venue and will feature a large rear-projection video wall. The stage itself is glass; LED lights and plasma screens can be placed under this stage for additional lighting as desired, with the likely setup for WorldVision being plasma screens along the centre of the stage and LED lights either side. Other lighting patterns exist, though Kura-Pelland has fairly stringent regulations on the use of strobe lighting and as such few strobe lights exist in the venue (and those that do are restricted to 3 cycles per second).

As befits such a central venue, hotels and transportation links are no problem. The international airport is linked to the city centre via a maglev system, the entire journey takes just nine minutes and the central station is just 350m from the Unity Complex.

We hope that our bid for hosting the 3rd WorldVision Song Contest convinces enough of the participants that Fattyboland is ready to host such an international event. Even if we are not successful in our bid we are grateful that we have the opportunity to apply to host and we are happy in ourselves in the amount of pride and dedication we have used so far.

Nice! How did you make that?

Very simply
I just found a cool background
then i found the Eurovision logo
stole ... i mean borrowed the heart ( i had to invert it cause it was black originally )
then i just found a similar font
and layered it over - resizing the heart to the right size
see, very simple :)
