The Free Land of Deitus is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The tiny government juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Social Welfare, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A large private sector is led by the Furniture Restoration industry, followed by Door-to-door Insurance Sales and Basket Weaving.

Crime is a problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Deitus's national animal is the badger, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the rune note.

In the Course of events it sometimes becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the bonds which connect them with another and for them to assume the separate and equal status to which they are entitled.

We hold it as self-evident, that men are created in equality, that they are endowed with certain Rights, that among these are Joy, Freedom and the ability to life without fear. — That to ensure these rights, Governments are instituted, deriving their powers from the consent of those they govern, — That whenever any Government becomes destructive, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new Government.

Prudence dictates that Governments should not be changed for light causes. But when a long train of abuses are carried out against the welfare of a people, it is their right to throw off the shackles of Government, and to provide new Guards for their security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of this People; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government.

We, therefore, solemnly declare, Deitus is a Free and Independent State, absolved from all Allegiance to any former nation or kingdom, and that as a Free and Independent State, it has full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Things which Independent States may do.
