WorldVision Song Contest 2

Banners hung from windows, dangling over tilting streets. Welcome to Merano, Welcome to WorldVision, and even ""¬$ greeted the visitors.

"We're honored to be able to host this event..." The city's mayor was renowned for his ability to put the maximum amount of rhetoric into the minimum amount of space. "...We hope to cherish the value of free speech..." He snuck a surreptitious glance into the booth where Zwangzug Broadcasting personnel were testing their bleep machines. "Best of luck to all performers!"

The flat stage was at the front of an auditorium cleverly shaped like a whole note. It had a crescent shape, broad in the back and narrowing to two points on opposite sides of the front. A line of dancers could arc across the back, or a rock band could set up a drum set off to one side. The mayor stepped back, behind a semicircular curtain, and made way for the first performers.

Jawalski: So here we are. Another WorldVision Song Contest, another mess of crap songs and messed up point distrubution.

Wiadzase: So, you accuse this of being filled with bad music, yet you have not heard even one song. I've heard some are actually decent.

Jawalski: Well, okay, it's true, you can't really make accusations about something you know so little about. However, we can take a look at the last song contest, which we had the "honour" of hosting. It was a total crap-fest. We had lots of useless love songs, Fascist war songs from Strator and Skgorria, Lovisa's repetative pop/dance song, and our own song sucked too. Hell, the only good song was Ironwell's "Melt the Ice Princess Heart".

Wiadzase: Yes, you are right about all that, Contest 1 was a mess. However, this is Contest 2. We are allowed to hope that this contest will be better then the first. Who knows, maybe our wishes will actually come true.

Jawalski: Okay, I'll see then. After the first three songs we'll prolly have some clue. i'm telling you though, this is not looking good.

Bazalonia

Graham Keneddy was backstage... taking deep large breaths, performing in the Signing Bazalope was nothing compared to what he was going to be doing now. Performing before countless millions and if not Billion of people as this was being broadcast through out many nations.

He had done all the final preperations made everything was done and ready the only thing left to do was to step out onto the oddly shape stage and start.

"And coming onto the stage, from Bazalonia is Graham Keneddy and his song 'Another Stupid Love Song' "

"Thank you, before I start I'd like to say that this song comes from the heart..."

The music started to play, electric guitar, bass, drums, and flute started to play in soft tones, reminiscent of what one would expect from a love song. While the music wasn't identifiable as any particularily known song it certainly captured the spirit of the genre.

Graham started, and started singing slow, his melodic tones echoing out over the audience.

At nights I laid in bed
Thinking of my life
Knowing that inside me
lay a dark pit inside

It was then for the chorus that music changed it suddenly ramped up into a full rock song even the flute getting in on the act.

Graham took the Mic from the stand that it was standing on and rocked out to the chorus.

[chorus]
But this is just another stupid love song
the same old stories told in the same old way
I wish there was some content but no.
This is just another stupid love song

A small instrumental took the tone of the piece of music back to the same style as it was before Daniel returned the mic to the stand and continued on with his dreamy melodics

I dreamed of the one
who would fill my life
with sunshine and rainbows
but no, she was not found

And then it went back to the chorus, this time Graham threw the entire microphone stand off stage with the microphone on stage. Don't worry the microphone was already broken anyway it was only there for theatrics as he had been radio mic'ed up before.

And so the same instrumental returned Grahams to his sedate melodic start now swaying as indeed he did not have a microphone stand in front of him so he could act as if he needed it.

And then I saw my dream
floating down the road
and straight into my heart
I know that she's the one

This verse was filled with emotive hand gestures and same screwed up face emotionally charged faces that everybody seemed to have making a mockery of them by taking them to the extremes for parody.

and so the chorus once again hit in as it always did and indeed focusing the listeners onto the parody that this song was. As the chorus ended the instrumental started to occur but something was different... the music was turning ... Angry... and so was Graham.

but my heart was broken
my love was returned
to me unopened, oh.
She ripped my heart away

The verse was filled with the expected angst and then returned to the chorus... but this wasn't the end of the song a bridge would link this chorus to the next part of the song.

Love songs they're all same
using the same old lines over again
going done lovers lane
it is enough to make you insane

The style of the bridge was still heavily rock and obviously showed the artists contempt for them.

The bridge moved the chorus onto the Coda of the song to finish the song off after an instrumental solo by the flute.

For this is not just another stupid love song
another love song
This is not just another stupid love song
another stupid song

As the coda happened the song wound down. Infact the last line was totally acapella and wasn't sung but was rhythmically spoken

And with one final comment Graham said "Stuff you Love songs." and went off stage.

Who was singing for Bazalonia? "Charlie Daniels" is the name of both Bazalonia's last singer and Corneliu's singer this time around. "Another Stupid Love Song" was signed up with "Graham Keneddy" [sic].

Emperor Boston and his wife, Empress Christine walked into the arena, taking a seat in the VIP area, along with their first son, Prince Jenson Maximillian Palmer Boston.

They were, happily, well in time for the Bostopian act.

[Christine] So, like, we aren't competing tonight are we?

[Boston] The country us, but us personally, no.

The baby gargled in what sounded like appreciation of this fact.

[Christine] Cool! Why'd the country vote for a song about calling for peace anyway? Aren't we like totally militaristic?

[Boston] We still are...but since Outer Sygon collapsed, we've got no enemies...we're allied to Vladmiristak, so much so Jense took Dr.Vlad's first name as one of his two middle names. So yeah, more people like peace now.

[Christine] Ohh yeah. He slept the whole way, can't get him to sleep now.

[Boston] That's good. It stops him from waking up halfway through and crying his head off.

The narrator's voice rang out across the arena

"And now, the Bostopian entry, A Soldier's Love, by Chris Keane!

The WorldVision stage cuts to darkness, before a bright white flare shoots up toward the rafters of the arena, before falling back down, showing a darkened battlefield. On the screen behind the stage, a caption comes up "Ventelsbirth, Adoros, 2003".

The camera pans furthur down, revealing the stage has been turned into a trench, and focuses in on a soldier in the Bostopian army, while the battle rages on on the screen behind him.

"Sometimes I wonder why the world is all only dark
Sometimes I wonder why the country she must call
And yet I see, though I know why we come
Sometimes I wonder why wars must still be fought

Why we fight, for our kind, when we are different only outside
Inside our bodies we find our hearts
And with it beats a love that none could part

Left behind, she is why, the reason why I fight inside
For my love, my one true love, to give her chance to survive
Those warm brown eyes, the long brown hair,
She gives me the fire in my soul

Why we fight, for our kind, when we are different only outside
Inside our bodies we find our hearts
And with it beats a love that none could part"

The song breaks into a heavy instrumental, while the battle behind intensifies, before the chorus kicks in a minute later

"Why we fight, for our kind, when we are different only outside
Inside our bodies we find our hearts
And with it beats a love that none could part

Why we fight, for our kind, when we are different only outside
Inside our bodies we find our hearts
And with it beats a love that none could part

The song slows down, and the main singer is joined by a children's choir

"The wars we fight, affect us all, but still we heed the call
For those at home, we fight for them,
The ultimate sacrifice we make
But there's hope, that when we fight, it's the last war before peace"

The lights in the arena fade out, before the video screen shows a brown haired, blue eyed girl sitting at home with a picture of the soldier in the song. The doorbell rings, and she goes over and opens it, and we see the soldier at her door.
Khenas
16-05-2007, 23:36
Sijana Desari and Nifeti Rellale were waiting behind the stage, not even sure is they were ready to perform their song. After all, for Khenas' national song selection, all they had to do was to send their song's music video to the broadcasting company. This was not it. The song was going to be performed in front of thousands of people, and a TV audience of millions of people. However, that would not change the order of performances, theirs was next.

Still, with little time left to do anything else, they just went onto the stage to start their performance, hoping to get 12 points from at least one country.

"Taking the stage now, from Khenas, are Sijana Desari and Nifeti Rellale, with their song 'Zalwe'."

This world is full of chaos
There's just no other word to use.
We are lost and have we have no place
So help us get out of here

Or we will have to fight!
Zalwe! (Fight!)
A Zalwan far walek ha a (I fight for my own cause)
So we will have to fight!
Zalwe! (Fight!)
A Zalwan far llewi le swit (I fight for just one world)

Nie mamy dużo czasu
Mozę uratujemy świat
No nie wiemy jak to pójdzie
Ale to dobry pomysł

(We don't have much time
Maybe we should save the world
Well, we don't know how it will go
But it's a good idea

And that's because
The world is not good for us
Not good for you or for me
There must be something to do
We can not just stay back here
We can not just feel good now
We clearly need to get back
It's time for us to rise up

So we will have to fight!
Zalwe! (Fight!)
A Zalwan far walek ha a (I fight for my own cause)
So we will have to fight!
Zalwe! (Fight!)
A Zalwan far llewi le swit (I fight for just one world)

Ses Fasenes
As Tilwans le swit ha hos
As Fasenes nie sa li
Ne sa farle ne prane
Problas ha politika
Rases Zalwanes ne saltens
Problas ha essa walke
As essi Posetans Zalwans

(you know
We live in a world of chaos
We know it's not good
It's not because it cannot be
Political problems
People fighting in the wrong direction
The problems are much to large
We really need to fight)

Zalwe!
We really need to fight
Zalwe!
Zalwe!

Zalwe!
Maybe things will then improve
Zalwe!
Zalwe!

Zalwe!

Graham laughed as he saw the Bostopian Entry on stage... "A love song right after my song... Someone's got a sense of humour." he continued laughing.

He was however completely unaware of a mix-up that nearly had him being announced as Charlie Daniels, the man that represented Bazalonia with his Love song in the first WorldVision, perhaps this was caused by the late entry of another person with the same name, perhaps the information they had was old.

Who knows but Graham was blissfully unaware of the bullet that he had just missed.

"Though for a love song, It's not too bad... The Bostopians certainly have a knack for staging."

Adel Musescu was a short woman and very thin. She was a product of Romescu's propaganda accadmeies where the pupils learnt nothing but porpaganda, her head was filled with nothing but Romescu thought. However Romescu had been over thrown in a revolution last month and executed by fireing squad after a hasty trial. But with the insistance of her manager she was to sing her original song
Romescu the Sun of Lerasia.

Because of this descision 2 Lerasian news channels had boycotted her section of the competition by blacking it out or playing a rerun of another contestant. Adel was deeply demoralised but with he long shimmering black dress she walked out on stage with a smile on her face, she flicked back her long black hair and stood up to the mike,

The auditorium was now swelling with a very upbeat, fast paced tune. you could clap to its quick beat.

Her voice came into the music, it was kind of operatic, powerful and mezmerizing

Oh Lerasia we have him
Romescu the enlightened leader
how the sun sets by his command
and rises when he wakes!

Oh Ro-mes-cu
The s-u-n of Lerasia..
We Love him like a fa-th-er!

We, The people follow his lead
His trumendous voice commands us....

(At this moment a group of Lerasia Human rights activists at the back of the auditorium began to hold up a sign's saying NEVER, NEVER ANOTHER ROMESCU! and HE IS DEAD! DONT REVIVE HIM!) Adel blocked the small upset out of her mind and continued on with the song

ugh.....The Dawning of Lerasia
Is when we followed his lead
Lerasia saw light when he arrived!

Oh Ro-mes-cu
The s-u-n of Lerasia..
We Love him like a fa-th-er!......

Adel's manager was gesturing to Adel to get of the stage, the demonstrators were now making up thier own words to the song
Oh Ro-mes-cu
the demon of the world
we killed him because he fucked our land!

The music melted away
and Adel quickly scurried off the stage her face was red, her career as a signer was over the moment she was ordered to sing that song.

back stage
Adel: What the hell happened!? where did those people come from!?

Manager: I called security they should be taken away, maybe you can finish....

Adel: You fucken idiot! you ruined me! why did you make me sing that song!? I know you want to win this competition just so you can go back to Lerasia and thank Romescu for it, you are only doing this for Romescu! Well he is dead now! and Fien has no hope of ruling all of Lerasia! Fuck this you can sing that fucken song!

Adel stormed off in her large shimmering black dress and out of the door. The manager was left standing with nothing now what, i guess we are disqualified if our singer just storms out of the competition

Widzase: Okay, your three songs have passed. Five have as of this moment really. So, what are you thinking, how do you expect this contest to go?

Jawalski: All the songs were crap. All of them. Bazalonia's was rather stupid. Bostopia's was a rather stupid love song.

Wadzase: That's Kind of Ironic to see one just after a song that talks about how love songs suck.

Jawalski: Yeah, I know, but we did not choose the order of performances. Anyway, I think I should get back to what I think about the songs.

Wiadzase: Okay.

Jawalski: Okay, so then we have Khenas's song, "Zalwe" it suffers from rather terrible songwriting. Maybe they should have chosen a selection process that did not involve a uninanimous selection, so maybe the would have a better song. Then some Lerasian singer takes the stage, singing stupid dictatorship propaganda. The human rights activists in the stands chose to make up their own lyrics. They were much better I have to say, but that stupid Musescu seemed to have a problem with it.

Wiadzase: Well, some of us can't help being brainwashed by some idiot dictator and his schools, which only don't talk about anything except why one should worship their country's government. This makes me even more happy that we are living in a democratic nation who's citizens aren't required to go to brainwashing centres.

Jawalski: Yes, there are some countries that do bad things. However, while not as much of a problem as Lerasia, Lovisa is definately a black spot in this world. Not with their government or anything like that, but with their songs. Really, all of their entries into this contest have been stupid dance songs. This contest and the last one. Really, has any good music came out of Lovisa? At all?

Wiadzase: Let's see, lots of Lovisan Songs Have been played on Radio Z today. They all sucked. So I guess the answer is no.

Jawalski: Thought so, anyway, who's terrible song is going to be next?

Wiadzase: Don't know the exact order. However, we'll be up after a few more songs.

Jawalski: Uh.. Yes... Our Song. Well... Vilvek is a good band, so i think it will be a good song, but I wonder how they were willing to risk losing their cred by going into this contest. Let's just they do well.

The three girls known as Decorus, representing St Samuel, Iyla aged 18, Sophia aged 18 and Samia aged 19 are singing the emotional yet upbeat song, Embrace the love. A song about the pain and suffering in the world and the hope of uniteing all.

59803

"Singing Embrace the Love, is Decorus of St Samuel."

I was born into
A world of hardship
When the skies are grey
And I feel the worlds against me
I look above and prey theres something better
For love must endure
My heart is my only weapon

Embrace me, embrace my soul
Embrace the love I have

If I could live
In a world without poverty
Where every man
Is an equal and immortal
Where love prevails all
And neighbours are brothers

Embrace me, embrace my soul
Embrace the love I have

For too long
Prejudice is a language
No more can I
Stand by and listen
Too much hatred
Will be the end of time
So why must we endure this everlasting pain
I want my children
To live in a world without fear

Embrace me, embrace my soul
Embrace the love I have

Father and son
Sister and brothers
Mother and daughter
Black or white
Christian or Muslim
We all bleed the same

So please, for the sake of god
Embrace me, embrace my soul
Embrace the love I have

The Sultanante Abu Hana's entry, Yousef Al-Bikouri is singing 'Sailing home,' a catchy cheery song with Arabic precussion sung in Yousef's home language of Arabic with some Latin about how he yearns to be home and how Abu Hana is viewed by others. Yousef is pictured below in one of his typically loud outfits.

59804

Sailing home
Sailing home to Abu Hana
Sailing all the way
For I love my realm
Every grain of sand
I love you Abu Hana

I have travelled the world
Yet my heart is drawn home
For I miss my beloved land
Where the sun blesses the earth
I cannot stand a minute longer
To be away from her

Heyyyyyy
Sailing home
Sailing home to Abu Hana
Sailing all the way
For I love my realm
Every grain of sand
I love you Abu Hana

People say our country smells
Others say it sucks
But I love the smell
A smell of oil and sucess
Foreigners say our people
Are rude and arrogant
Selfish and humourless
But I say to the them
I love my Abu Hana

Heyyyyyy
Sailing home
Sailing home to Abu Hana
Sailing all the way
For I love my realm
Every grain of sand
I love you Abu Hana

I've travelled the world over
Where Im seen as a wondering fool
They all tell me
Why do I miss my home
They say it's grubby piss hole in the desert
The ass end of no where
But what the hell do they know
It's an oasis of lush
A paradise of the desert

Heyyyyyy
Sailing home
Sailing home to Abu Hana
Sailing all the way
For I love my realm
Every grain of sand
I love you Abu Hana

The Merano residents clapped halfheartedly as Red Knight took the stage. They had the same nationality, after all...

...and as soon as he tore into his first riff, they were assured that the similarities ended there.

"Watch the meteor sear the sky
Who'd be surprised if we all would die?
And why?
Many long names, no time to cry

Hear harshness from the raging chords
Go ahead if you want to praise some lords
Forlorn
Lost in an impassionate play

I beg to wake from this nightmare and deviate
The sun dawns on a burning planet with no mate
On a dance by

Feel the beat of the timeless creed
As we all seek to fill some deep need
And bleed
Lines between us, funded by greed.

Can you censor me anymore?"

In the booth, the personal "bleepinator" hurriedly hit the large red button in front of him. In reality, he was pleasantly surprised that the singer had lasted as long as he had without swearing.

"Does this constitute an act of war?
My words
Are isolated, cut off from the world

I beg to wake from this nightmare and deviate
The sun dawns on a burning planet with no mate
On a dance by"

He paced around, hitting his guitar at random intervals. When embarrassed city council members looked like they were about ready to escort him off the stage, he leaned into his microphone. Throughout the loud feedback, his scream of "The representative from the bleepinator booth has the floor!"

Having not expected this, the bleepinator eyed the microphone that had somehow been placed in front of him. Quickly deciding that it would be a good idea to change the tone somewhat, he tried to put a humorous lilt into his voice.

"Heil hyphens and all that good stuff
Many still toe the party line
Incidentally promoting free speech-
Criticize it and you'll be fine.
Buzz buzz goes the microphone
This isn't really under control.
Trials by fire or infernos
Could just hurt your immortal soul.
So...yeah.
So...yeah, can I stop now?"

Eagerly, Knight launched into a reprise of the chorus.

"I beg to wake from this nightmare and deviate
The sun dawns on a burning planet with no mate
I beg to wake from this nightmare and deviate
The sun dawns on a burning planet with no mate

This is our world in a dance by!"

[Brinfield] And that was the entry from Zwangzug, very impressive I must say, especially the use of the bleepinator. Well, I've just been handed this from the BTV Monitoring Station, and we can bring you a bit of the comments made by the Swilatian commentators...

All the songs were crap. All of them. Bazalonia's was rather stupid. Bostopia's was a rather stupid love song.

Well, that's not going to go down well back home, especially seeing as how Swilatia hasn't even had THEIR entry yet. Well, let's have a look at the songs we've heard so far...

Bazalonia was up first...

But this is just another stupid love song
the same old stories told in the same old way
I wish there was some content but no.
This is just another stupid love song

Another sound entry from the Bazalonians, Keneddy's song taking an ironic look at many of the songs in the WorldVision, not lest ours...which was next, but we won't talk about it. You'll have heard it enough on the radio.

Then next up was Khenas...

So we will have to fight!
Zalwe! (Fight!)
A Zalwan far walek ha a (I fight for my own cause)
So we will have to fight!
Zalwe! (Fight!)
A Zalwan far llewi le swit (I fight for just one world)

A rather patriotic song, one that wouldn't go amiss in Bostopia, except for the bits not in our language. A song that should do rather well! Then we had the entry from Larasia, which was tainted by protests from groups who were against the previous Government in the country.

Next up was Lovisa but we hear there's some controversy from their entry due to rule contradiction.

The entry from St.Samuel did well, Bostopian voters may look to reward their performance in the World Cup and Cup of Harmony - which we won, I hasten to add - with a number of points in voting.

Abu Hama had their entry next, another patriotic theme, likely to win votes based solely on the guys outfit, which was rather loud should we say.

And with Zwangzug being already mentions, this gives me time to shut up ready for the next video promoting Zwangzug itself.

Lights off.

Ninety seconds to re-decorate the stage - whoever's torturing him- or herself by watching the contest on TV is treated to a quick biography of The Cherry Poppers' four members: Tim, a tallish figure with a permanent stoned-out expression on his face, famous for having had exactly one romantic relationship so far, and for avoiding spanish classes whenever possible; Meyer (Nobody ever uses his first name, which is rumoured to be unknown even to his parents), a somewhat 'Heavy' type of person with a tendency of bringing porn videos to his arts classes; Christian, who is apparently suffering from anorexia, and Michael - the tallest of the bunch, and also their most skilled 'Dancer'.

The band has no history as such - it formed about four months ago, when they decided to try and get into the World Vision contest, and will presumably collapse in roughly two weeks' time. And with none of its members even being eighteen (Although they're all edging close to it), there isn't much else to say about them - whatever screentime remains is filled by seconds of a lava lamp showing off.

Lights on.

Costumes or dresses, the band does not use - they're standing there on the stage in perfectly casual clothing, and little else. Great effects are unseen, too - the show's meant to be spartan.

Tim's at the keyboard, which is good - he can actually play it. Meyer plays the guitar, while Christian goes for the drums (Again, it is rumoured that they decide who plays what by rolling dice). Michael does what he does best - fail at singing, and pelvic-thrusting at the audience.

And with one of those pelvic thrusts, the song begins, starting with a low, slow drumming and some nice keyboard/ guitar tunes before reaching its fast-paced, almost comical self.

The night it is quite nice
With alcohol and mice
She is drunk and she is happy
And you tell her she is pretty
But in your mind you know quite well
That this is nothing but a game
For all you really want to do
Is to make her bleed

Make her bleed
Make her bleed for it
Make her bleed
Make her bleed for it

She is young and she is pretty
And too drunk to notice you are crappy
Innocent like Angel's dust
And blonde too, it'll be easy
You have your chance, you use it now
Right back home with her in tow
For all you really want to do
Is to make her bleed

Make her bleed
Make her bleed for it
Make her bleed
Make her bleed for it

When you see her in the morning
And your heart begins to beat
When you look into her eyes
And you know you were the first
But the bloated form there on your bed
Looked only half as big when you were drunk
And you realise too late
It was all a big mistake to

Make her bleed
Make her bleed for it
Make her bleed
Make her bleed for it

Michael's voice is rather high - puberty's clearly not entirely over for him - and his rather... 'Colourful' and exceedingly bright clothing adds to the rather nonserious touch of the entire performance (Although the other members of the band look slightly more serious. But then, maybe some people like Michael's colourfulness), nevermind his 'Suggestive' (As in, blatant) gestures, which pretty much amounts to what he considers 'Dancing'.

And after a last series of pelvic thrusts and other suggestive gestures (Which happened throughout the entire song), the performance ends, with the last thing to happen on the stage being Tim producing a joint - he needs to chill out for a bit after his performance - right after receiving a longish and rather intimate french kiss from the technically heterosexual Michael, who's clearly excited by the whole event - the first time they've performed in front of a real audience -, and turns around one last time, waving at the audience and shouting "WE LOVE YOU!" as loud as he can, orange letters on his pinkish-red-blue-yellow-radioactive-green shirt pulsating with joy.

Then it's over. Finally.

The WBC orchestra still did not know what song they were to play. Pop Radio wanted something upbeat and, well, poppy with some half-dressed strumpet warbling along. The Light Programme wanted a ballad, sung by Esmond Larbey, who had several hits fifty years before but who was still quite sprightly. The Classical Selection wanted a movement from a symphony by Sir Stewart Wallace featuring a bass bassoon.

The only thing on whicn they agreed was that is should not be Da Shiznit with his garage stylings.

Different songs were rehearsed and in the end a coin toss had Esmond Larbey as the man in the hotseat.

So, when called upon to perform, Wentland TV viewers heard a familiar voice introducing. "Ladies and gentlemen...this is WBC. "

The fanfare for the evening's programmes sounded and segued into something smooth. Then Larbey came in with his lounge singing.

"Away, away over the sea
My love knows no boundary
I'm dreaming of my lady
Who's lying there waiting for me..."

The music swelled to a crescendo of strings.

"I must flyyyyyy...
Into the stratosphere...
Don't know whyyyyyy...
I must be out of here...
To be with my girl...
She is my world...
I'm going home...
My heart is unfurled..."

Larbey was then astonished by a collapsing guitar riff and loud bass, and saw stage right popstrel Daisy Dell enter wearing what looked like a vest and belt. Ever the professional, Larbey looked on interestedly and tried to make it all planned, as Dell shouted out the next verse, but from the woman's perspective.

"Long, how long must I wait...
My love is on his way...
I'm dreaming of my man...
Who's coming to get me someday..."

Larbey tried to hide his distaste for Dell's mangling of the tune and decided to get things back on track. He joined in the chorus, to make sure at least half of it was in tune, and for the instrument break grabbed hold of Dell - despite the 40 year age difference - to waltz with her.

"What are you DOING??" he hissed sotto voce, keeping up a smile for the camera.

"That was boring, old man. Needed to spice...What the hell's THAT!!"

Elliott Vernon, famous bassoonist, had invaded the stage with a bassoon and was laying down a phat bass jazz freestyle over the mix of gentle strings and raucous guitar.

"Keep smiling, young lady...it may make it look like it was all planned..."

"Yeah, we might get away with..."

"YO YO YO Dis be da man! Keepin it real wov da sex appeal! Bitch ho ass is kickin it class! Dis are da Shiz and you knows what I is!"

Larbey blanched. "Oh God. "

Dell had the right idea. "I'll sort it. "

She grabbed her mike back. "My love is a gentleman...he doesn't treat me like dirt... "

Shizzy wasn't going to be outcooled.

"Yo' man is a dirrty pimp...yo' the bitch he's gonna hurt..."

Larbey now got involved.

"Don't call me such names...don't treat me like dirt..."

And Vernon trilled a bassoon signature over it all.

Then it went downhill. As Larbey tried to wrench the mike back from Da Shiznit, Dell grabbed the bassoon and swung it at the rapper. She missed and wiped out Larbey, and stood there in shock. Vernon cried out "my bassoon!!! My bestest bassoon!!! What hast thou done, strumpet?"

The orchestra, bemused, played louder to drown out the front of stage scuffling. The Dell-tones also increased the volume as a panicking WBC executive signalled for the curtains to draw signifying the end of the song. As the sound reached a terrifying crashing crescendo and Dell, Vernon and Shiz rolled around on stage, the lights went down and the crowd applauded politely.

And slowly, a shadow went to the stage. Suddenly, lights illuminated him and he began to sing.

We got it on most every light
when that sun was big and bright
it was a supernatural delight
everybody was dancing in the sunlight

we got
everybody here was out of side
they did not bark and they did not bite
they kept things loose they kept it right
everybody was dancing in the sunlight

dancing in the sunlight
everybodys feeling warm and bright
its such a fine and natural sight
everybody was dancing in the sunlight

we liked our fun and we never fought
you cant dance and stay uptight
its a supernatural delight
everybody was dancing in the sunlight

dancing in the sunlight
everybody was feeling warm and bright
it was such a fine and natural sight
everybody was dancing in the sunlight

we got in on most every light
and when that sun was big and bright
it was a supernatural delight
everybody was dancing in the sunlight

dancing in the sunlight
everybody was feeling warm and bright
it was such a fine and natural sight
everybody was dancing in the sunlight

There is no time limit, and I don't know what one would even do, since all you really see here is lyrics. However, songs shouldn't be unreasonably long.

The lights went out and the stage was covered in complete darkness. Suddenly a drum started beating regularily and with every beat a spotlight lighted one member of the band. after everyone appeared in the spotlight, the stage was lit and the background showed an ehila~oan settlement in the jungle and the middle of nowhere.

Hila~n started creating a rythm over the drum with the Sahama lyle, an instrument, which looks like a bow. Seljen and Relui~l on the drums adapt their drumming to increase in complexity. Tiray and Hilji start singing together from both sides of the crescent-shaped stage:

Ina, Sala min'isa'tes kije naiji'ra
Savar'tan ve Emujene min'ahira veka.
Ina ve Sala min'xan sidekhir ra veka altena.
Sa~edi hi kali mi'hasim het hakim 'ahira.
Meva, keva, min'ki janek'he'ny min'lil najny'ta
'sidekhir'ra sa~edi hi kali tavema hena
Sinha ve avina min'kaiji'han janek'ra
Halujamkansa mi'hetaki min tesha'ra
Ina, Sala min'xan 'sidekhir kali tavema hena

(Ina, Sala leave from their home village
because the hunger and the desperation ravage
Ina and Sala plan to find the best place
Sa~edi hi kali lacks all things ravaging
Mother, father know that the 2 children have no chance
to reach Sa~edi hi kali in the jungle
cold and heat fight the two
Halujamkansa (the God of the insects, spiders and other small animals) attacks them
constantly
Ina, Sala plan to find the city in the jungle)

The text, which is normally in ehila~oan was translated into English for the international listeners:

Ina, Sala leave the place the statues of their Gods stand,
leave the village the kalesa on to faraway land
Hope of finding one of the places no hjemu will see
the place which people of ehila~o say is called Sa~edi hi.
When subjected to nature some animal's prey
the children looked up as the drums came to play:

Ha~o La Sen changed the rhythm gradually. Hilji starts chanting the chorus:

Han! Han'iln! Han'iln Sa~edi hi kali!
Come! come on! Come to Sa~edi Hi kali!

While Hilji repeats that, Tiray starts singing (the translation appears in the background):

Meve'il! jilih'sejil! / nilhet'aru kynha alna!
(Pay Attention! This is bad! Nothing is as easy!)

The drums and the sahama lyle slided into the stanza again. The background shows thick Radjavedan jungle.

Nenriva'anik'han, mi'shensa, mi'sil
"il'oki'anik'ra il'uti ve il'sejil
il'sanja ti, 'mesu'sedit il koleni njinji!

(Neneriva came down, he shouted he screamed
You are among the low, you are strongly limited and bad
your life is short your vision is dim, you think with your hands
How do you plan to reach the city?
Isa, Sala looked (around) did not know the right reply
Isa stepped forward and carefully tried to improve their chances.
My Kansu, Your Kansu, the Kansu of the jungle,
he Kansu of light and of things does not differ.
One world, one kansu, Jaortirkansa and Relekhakansa,
this makes it possible to go to the city in the jungle.)

Nenekansa was stunned by the words quiet and clear
he said to fair Isa: "Come with me, my dear!
You prove yourself worthy the and wise as can be.
Leave Sala and come to city of Sa~edi hi"

The refrain again started:

Han! Han'iln! Han'iln Sa~edi hi kali!
Come! come on! Come to Sa~edi Hi kali!

Meve'il! jilih'sejil! / nilhet'aru kynha alna!
(Pay Attention! This is bad! Nothing is as easy!)

"You leader to places where no one should be
for sure you won't bring me to the Sa~edi hi
An act of compassion this surely can't be.
Cause I am to Sala what he is to me
If you want this cruelty you go home alone.
But without dear Sala I am on my own."
The treacherous spirit it flew off in shame,
And Isa and Sala thanked the glorious name.

The journey would be long but then, you will see,
they both will reach the city, they call Sa~edi hi.

the refrain was played once again but the song then ended , due to the length-limitation, Ha~o La Sen could not tell the entire story.

Wiadzase: So, we're almost done with the songs. how's this contest been going?

Jawalski: Better then last year's, but still terrible. So many songs are terrible, you can'r tell how our points will be distributed. The poll results cannot be predicted, because the songs we've heard so far That's most of the contest are almost equal. At being bad, that is.

Wiadzase: How so. What makes them so bad?

Jawalski: Well, we have lots of sloppy songwriting this contest. Zalwe, and Make her Bleed are the songs i'm talking about with this, they are both messed up. I don't know who wrote the Khenian one, but Make Her Bleed was by some crappy high-school band.

Wiadzase: Wasen't the Khenas one just written by two pissed of Khenian students? And yes, those two songs sucked balls. The other ones besides Lovisa's, though, what about those?

Jawalski: Well, we have silly musical rants, annoying love songs, generally annoying songs, the list continues on. How our country is going distribute points is an enigma. At least we have a vote, so I don't have to position these. Anyway the next song is coming up, and i think it's ours!

Wiadzase: Yes, it is ours, we should go and see it now.

Jawalski: Yeah, so, um, bye.

"And now, the Swilatian song, Cheap Love, by Vilvek"

Every day is the same
she's following me
like there's nothing else for her to do
like there's no-where left for her to go
like she dosen't care if the world should end

Why won't she leave me me alone?
Why won't she realise
that

I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to leave me be
I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to stop this game

Anywhere that I go
she's right behind me
She doesen't care that she should stay back
She always sends me all this useless trash
She always needs to be there to piss me off

Why won't she leave me alone
Why won't she just go home
'cause

I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to leave me be
I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to stop this game

Anywhere I go
She's right behind me
Everything I do
She's always watching
Every week, every day
It is all the same
No Matter what
She's still waiting there

And it seems that she'll never know
Yes it seems that she'll never know
that

I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to leave me be
I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to stop this game

I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to leave me be
I don't need this cheap love
I just want her to stop this game

I don't need this cheap love
I don't need this cheap love

OOC: Am working on it, finished exams yesterday so finding myself finally with the freetime. Expect something this weekend at some point.

Edit OOC: Apologies for the wait, between illness and exams NS has had to take a little backseat...anyway, on with the show.

IC:
Four rather strange looking people walked upon stage to waiting instruments as the lights descended and change to resemble the pale orange haze of a clear evening sky. A reasonably attractive woman, raven-haired and surprisingly fragile looking, save for inch long fangs that appeared plainly whenever she spoke (and for some those would only add to her beauty) picked up the microphone as her band mates behind began a soft, almost acoustic melody. She began...

"I’ve been waiting for so long,
Wandering under silver stars,
Following the distant beat of your heart,
No matter how far,

“I have wandered beneath woven clouds and
Far off shores, lost to,
The memory of you,

“Many dangers that I faced,
Silent shadows over me,
I followed still, onto you,
Distant promises still held true,
On these lonely desert nights"

A pause in lyrics as a slowly rising instrumental, as the lighting rises to simulate a rising sun, the tempo becomes faster and the sound more haunting still.

“I have seen, I have known,
Far off to where you roam,
Places untouched, virgin sands,
Feeling cold, unknown lands.”

“Do you not remember?
How could you forget?
Do you not see my face before you,
With every footstep?”

The lead singer then spoke, a yelled word into the microphone, “Alone.” then she merely slide back into the lyrical chorus.

“Many dangers that I faced,
Silent shadows over me,
I followed still, onto you,
Distant promises still held true,
On these lonely desert nights"

One last heavy acoustic instrumental run, lightning effects flash across the stage, and the chorus rises once more, far faster and far louder than before…

“Dangers that I faced,
shadows over me,
I followed still, onto you,
Distant promises still held true,
Lonely desert nights"

Khenas Royal Music Board

So, here we had it, the songs of the WorldVsion song contest presented. Now, it's time to score them!

Yes, um... how is this done.

Well, we put them in some order, based on which ones are better, then the first gets 12 points, second 10, third 8, fourth 7, and the down to 1, the remaing ones get no points.

Okay then... Maybe we should start thinking about what songs besides ours are good then.

Well, we've had Zwangzug, Swilatia, Abu Hana, and Linker Niederrhein with good songs.

Are you kidding me? Linker Niederrhein and Swilatia had terrible songs!

I agree with you on both of these, but Swilatia deserves some recognition, since they are our neighbours. Keep them up there.

Okay then. We have something down. Zwangzug, Swilatia, and Abu Hana in the top 3. but what order?

No. Swilatia goes in fourth, getting 7 points. We find another country that can go into the top 3.

Linker Niederrhein?

You're kidding, right?

Only a little bit. Still, we need to assign the places quicker, we've only got one day before the contest results are shown quicker.

Well, I don't know about good songs that much, but lovisa needs a low spot. Preferably no points whatsoever.

Yes, I agree. Let's hope they get a total of 0

Okay, what about the rest of you

(every-one agrees)

Alright. another spot taken care of. Now let's get back to the top 3 thing. Who should get the third spot in it?

Forget the third spot. We just need more songs to get points.

This would be easier to rank if we have all the entries into it though.

Okay. Can't we go with my original Proposal.

No. Neither those 2 are good enough.

Who Do you suugest then.

Rejistania?

Okay. So now for the order. My proposal is Zwangzug, Abu Hana, Rejistania.

I support this, just so it doesn't get too chaotic.

Wait, shouldn't Rejistania be higher?

Fine.

I will change my support here, so it says close

Alright then. Zwangzug, Rejistania, Abu Hana. Now we're starting to get somewhere.

Wait... Bazalonia didn't make the top 3?

No, they are not good enough. We can give them six points if you want though.

I accept, considering this might be the highest you're willing to give them. So, What else do we have to deal with.

Well, the remaing two at the bottom could be Lerasia, and Linker Niederrhein. one with one, one with none.

Lerasia gets it. I guess that means One for Linker Niederrhein.

No! Linker Niederrhein deserves at least two points.

Well, I might give them two points, If you can name another song to get one.

Wentland. Just listen to their song. You should have also seen their affairs behind the stage!

Okay, Wentland for one. Any-one object?

Not me, i didn't even know what to do with that one.

Okay, Now any-one know what to do with the last 3 songs?

What countries we those again?

Bostopia, St. Samuel, and Edward City.

Okay, we'll put it in this order, just to get this done.

Alright, it's in, now we have our full list. Wow. That took qute long.

Indeed. Maybe in the next contest we should a have a vote?

A vote?

Guys, let's leave that discussion for later. we need to submit these scores.

Reporter Kelly Firth is sat in a booth (naked, as usual) - with a live image of Fort Boston behind her. The windows on skyscrapers twinkled in the night as the light of car headlights streaming past them on the raised motorway flashed by.

[Firth]Hello, I'm Kelly Firth, and this is Channel 9 bringing you, the viewers of WorldVision, the points, LIVE from Fort Boston, Bostopia.

With 'nil point', it's Lovisa, Linker Niederrhein and Abu Hama. One point goes to...St.Samuel. Two points to Swilatia Three points to Edward City. Four points to Wentland. Five points to The Freethinkers. Six points go to Lerasia. Seven to Zwangzug. Eight to Rejistania. 10 points goto...Khenas. And with twelve points, and with the most votes from Bostopia, it's Bazalonia!.

That concludes the Bostopian vote, full table below!

12 - Bazalonia
10 - Khenas
08 - Rejistania
07 - Zwangzug
06 - Lerasia
05 - The Freethinkers
04 - Wentland
03 - Edward City
02 - Swilatia
01 - St.Samuel
00 - Abu Hana
00 - Lovisa
00 - Linker Niederrhein

[Brinfield] Well! The Bostopian voters obviously not impressed with Linker Niederrhein's immorallity-sesh there, nor the rather multicultural lovey-dovey let's all love each other and the world's problems will go away from St.Samuel. The Abu Hana entry only seems to have gotten votes to keep Lovisa from getting any, posting an entry they didn't bother making themselves.

And then the usual bunch, but Khenas pulling on the strings of the Bostopians, with a song extolling the same virtues Bostopians have. And of course, our good friends Bazalonia, with a wonderful song there, parodying our own, but doing as well as it should do.

"...and we have the totals from Zwangzug voters, who may have proven themselves to be actually intelligent."

"Hey, they gave us the current administration."

"How should that comment be interpreted?"

"However the interpreter desires."

"Let's see...in last place, no surprise: Lovisa!"

"You almost sounded happy when you said that."

"At least we get them out of the way. With a sizable edge over Lovisa, but still not getting any points from Zwangzug: Linker Neiderrhein."

"At least they bothered to come up with something unique."

"And third from the bottom was Swilatia, with one of the smallest margins, and what a disappointment: the difference between any point at all and nothing, which is what they're getting."

"Shouldn't the gap between twelve and ten points, say, be more disappointing, as there's more of an absolute difference?"

"This is not the time for mathematics."

"Nobody ever told me."

"So, just barely nudging out Swilatia for a sole point was Abu Hana."

"Above them, with two points, Edward City."

"St Samuel gets three."

"And Khenas gets four: nice message, though. It's proven to be popular among fans of Zwangzug's...entry."

"And speaking of political rebellion, Lerasia got five points. Zwangzug support is overwhelmingly behind Adel and the protestors, and supports their movement against dictatorship."

"Six points for Bostopia."

"That high? I think some people were biased just because it was so early."

"Meh, well, it's got the words "sacrifice" and "hope". They'll swing some idiots' votes."

"Anyhow, seven for the last-minute entry from The Freethinkers, in the other extremely close vote."

"Just getting eight over them was the Rejistanian entry. The language's intricacies are intriguing many in Zwangzug, even if they don't know what "karela" has to do with anything."

"With ten points, the Wentland entry, mostly from people mourning the desecration of the bassoon."

"And those that thought it was about the World Baseball Classic."

"Them too. So with twelve points from Zwangzug, demonstrating the glory of brilliant parody: Bazalonia and their stupid love song!"

"Congratulations to all performers. Well, except the Lovisans."

"That is how the Bazalonian public voted, thank you Bazalonia now, to our judges. What do you think of the scores and why did they fall as they did?"

"Well Anthony. The Bostopia entry combined great sets, showmanship as well as a good song and quality technical singing to get the top spot here, Added to the Irony of them singing second behind us and the topics of the songs."

"As for Freethinkers, we don't know much about them but I don't know I think the voters just identify with the song..."

"Zwangzug... The Home entry... An unusual song that had the singer rail against censorship of songs with the 'Bleepinator' and with the guy in the Bleep box do his own Solo. I don't think that the Bazalonians agreed with the topic but the song was seemingly attractive for it's unusual qualities while still being a good song."

"St. Samuel, Not really much to say here... A good song that probably shouldn't have been quite as high."

"Swilatia... A song about a stalker.. and how unwelcome it was despite the apparent "shallow love" that the stalker had. A certainly good insight into the world of famouse people with stalkers."

"Rejistania, I don't think many Bazalonians got this one, odd Rejistanian Grammar and Mythological references got in the way of this one, It should have got more but unfortunately the topic totally threw many people.

"Khenas... Zalwe... Fight. While the topic of war is currently a dirty subject in Bazalonia I think this song also deserved to be better, however, it depends on how you read it, fight against the wrongs and ills in the world did get a strong vote I would suggest and so these factors I think alomst balanced out."

"Abu Hana, Patriotic song basically saying how great Abu Hana is without actually informing people about the nation itself... Claptrap song."

"What can one say about the Wentland song... Too Chaotic... While The Zwanzug some was slightly chaotic it was organised chaos... Where for some of this staging it didn't seem to have any organisation at all. Though if it was all done on the spot... Props for the singer for dealing with it all."

"Lerasia... Would have been a good song despite obvious propoganda, I think these guys deserved more but the protestors spoiled it. Which personally I find distasteful. Their issue isn't with the singer so why should they spoil her performance."

"And then we have Edward City, Lovisa and Linker Niederrhein I think the voters made a good decision here, and whil I probably would suffle these guys around a bit... it wouldn't matter. No points for all."

Wiadzase: So the Swilatian side of the scoring came just came in. Have you seen it set?

Jawalski: Yes I have. I wouldn't say it was that Surprising, I was definately glad to see Lerasia and Lovisa got 3 points. Too bad Linker Niederrhein isn't on that list though.

Wiadzase: Well, it was obvious that crazy teenagers were going to be voting for this song, if even just to keep it from getting null points.

Jawalski, Yeah, there result with 3 points was rather surprising. However, with all the other bad songs in the contest, some them wold have to get points. Just listen to Abu Hana's song if you don't believe me.

Wiadzase: Okay. Howeve, we must not fix our entire discussion on the bottom of the table. Let's move on.

Jawalski: Okay. I could say I'm surprised with Rejistania and Freethinkers getting so little points, and Wentland getting so many points, but there just isn't so much to discuss here.

Wiadzase: No, not even the rather chaotic performance of Wentland's song.

Jawalski: Well, It was rather chaotic and everything, and I think thats what got it the points, but there isn't really that much to talk about with it.

Wiadzase: So, where, then? To the top?

Jawalski: What do you mean the top?

Wiadzase: The song with 12 points of course.

Jawalski: Okay, what would that song be?

Wiadzase: The Khenian song, Zalwe.

Jawalski: Why am I not surprised?

Wiadzase: Well, there are many reasons why this could have happened. However, I would be willing to bet tha while it was a good song, the main reason was the Khenian ex-pats in this country.

Jawalski: Yeah. Too bad Zwangzug get less points this time, because of this. Their song was better this time.

Charlie daniels took to the stage and with a wave of his hand, his most favorite tune began to play. At just the right note, he started to sing:

The devil went down to Georgia
He was looking for a soul to steal
And he was in a bind
'Cause he was way behind
And was willin' to make a deal.

When he came upon this young man
playing a fiddle and playin' it hot.
The devil jumped up on a hickory
stump and said,
"Boy let me tell you what:

I bet you didn't know it
but I'm a fiddle player too,
And if you care to take a dare
I'll make a bet with you
Now you play a pretty good fiddle boy
But give the devil his due
I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul
'Cause I think I'm better than you."

The boy said, "My name's Johnny
And it might be a sin
But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret
'Cause I'm the best that's ever been."

Johnny you rosin up your bow and play your
fiddle hard 'Cause hell's broke loose in Georgia
And the devil deals the cards
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold
But if you lose the devil gets your soul.

The devil opened up his case and he said,
"I'll start this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips

As he rosined up his bow
And he pulled the bow across the strings
And it made an evil hiss
Then a band of demons joined in
And it sounded something like this

When the devil finished Johnny said,
"Well you're pretty good ol' son!
But sit down in that chair right there
And let me show you how it's done!"

Fire on the mountain, run boys run
Devil's in the house of the rising sun
Chickens in the breadpan, picking out dough
Granny does your dog bite? No, child, no

The devil bowed his head
Because he knew that he'd been beat,
And he laid that golden fiddle
On the ground at Johnny's feet
Johnny said, "Devil, just come on back
if you ever wanna try again.
I done told you once,
You son-of-a-gun,
I'm the best that's ever been!"

He played:
Fire on the mountain, run boys run
Devil's in the house of the rising sun
Chickens in the breadpan, picking out dough
Granny does your dog bite? No, child, no.

All throughout the song, he was doing hand motions and singing with as much passion as any of the contestents were singing. When he finished the song, he smiled as the applauds overwhelms him and he bows continously.

Your rules did not stipulate that it had to be made up.

Read it and be shocked.

How does this work: Everyone signs up in this thread, like you do for a world cup (simple "we sign up" post). then in the rp thread there will be 2 waves of rp's. In the first, posts shold give a description of the national final, and show the title of the nation's song and its artist. In the second wave, everyone posts their show. This should include what happens on the stage and that kind of stuff, and must include the lyrics, unless you post a video, wich gives you the ultimate nerd award, or post an MP3, which will put you close to getting the ultimate nerd award. Do not use artists/songs that exist in RL. Voting will be done IC, so you shoulld post your votes in the thread at that time, the way its done in eurovision ( giving the best songs (in your opinion) points, the best 12, second best 10, then next 8, then 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.

As for being late. Sorry but I have a fucking life.

"And we're back from the voting! According to the latest news, the Ministry of the Interior has received well over a million complaints about 'Those Fuckheads' - that is, The Cherry Poppers - representing our country, and as far as the already received votes go, the public relations effect seems to indeed be negative. However, this hasn't stopped The Cherry Popper's fans from celebrating their idols anyway, has it, Francis?"

Images change, now showing a mildly chaotic outdoor location, where something akin to a deeply alcoholised orgy is in progress. Which, in fairness, is more interesting than the stage in Zwangzug. And that redhead to the left is quite pretty, too... Especially without her top.

"Indeed it hasn't, Lisa, and as you can see, nobody seems to mind the crushing defeat of The Cherry Poppers on the internationa- Ah... Miss, I'm sorry, but I'm on air right now... No, no, you may NOT go there... No... This is Francis Beaucoup, live from the part- No, Miss, I'm sorry, but this is not-"

The image once more show's Lisa, in Zwangzug. Rather less interesting, but it's probably for the better, anyway.

She seems to be mildly disconcerned, but she eventually regains her composure. "In any case, the votes.

"Null points go to Lovisa, Edward City and Wentland, for being performances made of epic fail.

"One point goes to Lerasia, because they sucked slightly less than the other three. Which is... Unimpressive.

"Two points are for Khenas - Slightly less bad than the rest.

"Three points go to Bostopia - professionally done, even if not really LNR's taste.

"Four points are for Swilatia - apparently some people could relate, although the party outside seems to suggest the opposite.

"Five points go to Rejistania - Apparently bonus points for using their native language... I didn't understand a word.

"Six points go to our host, Zwangzug - apparently a solid performance, and I'd agree with the notion.

"Seven points go to Abu Hana, and I'm left wondering... Why? Some people...

"And finally, we come to the top three. Drumroll... Hello, drumroll, please?"

A drum rolls. Literally. Across the floor, right behind Lisa. She looks rather annoyed.

"Assholes. Anyway... Eight points go to... The Freethinkers - I'll spend this moment to accuse everyone who voted for them being into BDSM with anthropomorphic, uhm, things. St Samuel! A sound, if rather conservative performance.

"Ten points go to... St Samuel! A sound, if rather conservative performance.

"And twelve points go to my personal favourite... Which you all can guess, given that they're the last ones remaining... Bazalonia! Congrats!"

Fadeout. Lisa keeps talking, but it is no longer broadcasted.

And because the text makes identifying the winners mildly difficult, here the list in short:

"Three points, Abu Hana. Fun stuff."

"For Four points, Khenas. Who knows why."

"Wouldn't say no Nick."

"Niether would I"

"And Eight Points to Rejistania, the completely non-understandable song that we assume was actually a masterpiece. I'm sure we'll be hearing that tune on chav and chavette's mobiles from tomorrow onwards.

"I've already got my shovel and the shallow graves ready Nick."

"Ten points for Bazalonia, well, it certainly wasn't the fantastic crapheap that was pretty much everything else. I mean, the guy looked like he gave a shit."

"Indeed Nick..."

"My name is John."

"I don't care Nick. Who got twelve?"

"Twelve Points goes to...Bostopia!....Waitaminute. That song was shite....How the hell...."

"Look, as was said before roughly sixty percent of our audience is high either from alcohol or narcotics, it was very pretty visually. We're not assuming musical tastes defines our audience or reasons for voting. Well, this wasn't as bad as it could have been. Lets go grab a drink."

"One point go to the nation of Lerasia.
Two points for, excuse that horrible pronunciation: Zwangzug
Three points for Wentland,
Four points are assigned to Bostopia
Five points go to Edward City
Six points for Linker Niederrhein" (he pronounces this one very rejistani: Lin-keCH Ni-e-deCH-he-in)
"Seven points for Bazalonia
Eight points, from Rejistania to St Samuel" (he spells "St" (as "Se-ti") since he is not aware of the meaning "Saint")
"Ten points go to... oh, I think I lost the cheatsheet... Let me make something up on the spot: The Freethinkers

[ooc: the Edward City song seems to be a very slightly reworded version of the Toploader crass-ic "Dancing In The Moonlight". Given that marrying a member of that group turned Gail Porter from the fittest bird in Britain into a bald fatso with depression, it does not deserve ANY votes.]

The studio cut to Anna Kumble in the WBC Centre.

"Hi, I'm Anna Kumble, captain of the Wentland Women's Football Team, and I am here to present the votes of the Wentland jury!!!"

The camera panned back to reveal thirteen members of the Wentland women's World Cup squad in full kit sitting on chairs waving.

"And we are going to demonstrate the votes for each country by utilizing buckets of water!!!"

The squad suddenly bolted upright. "What?" yelled Amber Hodgkiss. "We knew nothing about this."

"Oh, hush up, it'll be fun!!!!

"Anyway, the Wentland votes are as follows.

"One point to...Khenas!!!"

From offscreen someone threw a bucket of icy water over Sammie Grady, who let out a yelp of shock. "Auugh!!! I didn't know I was Khenas."

Amber Hodgkiss was suddenly smug. "I did. And I'm Freethinkers, no-one's gonna vote for them. Woo!"

Anna shushed her.

"Two points go to...LOWER NIEDERRHEIN!!!"

From offscreen two buckets of water flew towards Thalia Pellegrini. "OWWWW!!! That's cold."

"Three points go to...look out, Rosie..."

Rosie Dougall flinched.

"...ABU HANA!!!!"

Rosie Dougall relaxed as three buckets hit her team-mate Gwennie Saunders. "Brrrrr..."

"Four points go to...SWILATIA!!!!" And four buckets followed for Rosie's other team-mate Becki Stephens. "Auuughh!!! You could have warned me...an icecube got my glasses..."

It was about now that the WTV audience spiked amongst males aged 15-34 as word got around.

"Five points go to...LERASIA!!!!"

Kirsten Cassidy did not flinch. She stood up with "bring it on!!" actions. But the force of five buckets of water flung her back to her stool.

"And the six buckets, er, points, go to...ST SAMUEL!!!!"

The six buckets went to Rach Horne, who pretended to swim through the chilly deluge.

"Seven points to...REJISTANIA!!!!"

"Oh, no..."

Kaz Flack cowered as she had thought she might be safe. Alas for her it was seven times as bad as it was for Sammie O'Grady. She emerged spluttering when the buckets stopped.

And the remainder were looking very nervous. Except for Amber Hodgkiss, who was looking confident.

"Eight points go to...BAZALONIA!!!!"

"Auughhh..." The cry came from Rosie Dougall who finally caught up with her team-mates.

"Ten points go to..."

Lisa Clark suddenly felt a chill of fear.

"...ZWANGZUG!!!!"

Lisa Clark suddenly felt a chill of water. "AAARRGGGHHH!!!! That's FREEZING!!!!!"

And now only three remained. Luisa Matsushita and Katie Barnfield were cringing. Amber Hodgkiss was calm.

"And the twelve points go to..."

Before Anna Kumble announced a vast tidal wave of freezing cold water came from offstage and soused Amber Hodgkiss. Who was swept off her stool in shock and disgust.

"...FREETHINKERS!!! That concludes the votes from the Wentland jury."

The dry squad members were dancing around in each other's arms.

"And we can't let Lulu and Katie off the hook, can we?"

They froze in horror before freezing literally as a couple of dozen buckets of water were hurled in their general direction. Much to the delight of the other squad members watching.

"Well, goodbye...I've enjoyed it..."

As Anna Kumble was signing off, about a hundred gallons of freezing cold water descended from the studio roof right where she were standing. "AUUUUGGHH!!! You PROMISED..."

Who gets 7 points?

Also yes... EC's song is eerily similiar to the song wentland pointed out... The question is ... is it close enough to breach the rules?

My first song in the first NSVision was a rip-off of "What About Me?!" however I pretty much I used that song as in inspirational (and musical base) to work from I think only a line or two in the chorus would have match the real life... EC's song has just basically changed Moonlight into sunlight... which ... yeah a high percentage of word for word.

On a side note, is everyone okay with my parody?

Yeah, i'm fine with it. However, I don't think EC's song is really that much of a parody, It's just "Dancing in the moonlight" put in past tense, and "moonlight" swapped for "sunlight".

"Just getting eight over them was the Rejistanian entry. The language's intricacies are intriguing many in Zwangzug, even if they don't know what "karela" has to do with anything."

mi'najny sikire karela
She'dares/takes her chance [for] improving cautiously.

Karela as adjective can mean defensive or cautious.

Lerasia was last active within 12 hours: I don't know how it could have missed my telegram.

Cutoff line of a day from now, totals final then no matter what?

baisically you submit a (orginal) song, and we vote on it. You can't go into this one, but you can sign up for the next.

Hey, it's too late to disqualify you, and you're still not at 0 because for IC reasons I will not withdraw my points.

"We announce something now, don't we?"

"Yeah."

"What?"

"Um...a moment of silence in honor of Aaron Stelcchio?"

"Yeah right." (It may wish to be noted that in Zwangzug, requests for moments of silence are generally responded to by moments of silence-but only in dumbfounded attempts to determine the requester's sanity.)

"Oh. So...the announcing of the scores?"

"Yep."

"Who won?"

"Well, it was a close race. We used a spreadsheet to tally them up-"

"A spreadsheet?" The councilmember put his head in his hands.

"Er...perhaps we were supposed to announce that nations are cordially invited to double-check our math."

Wiadzase: So, how was this year's contest? I know I hated it.

Jawalski: I hated it. Seriously, I can't find any good songs, and you know who wins it? Bazalonia with their silly rant.

Wiadzase: Okay, the songs are not that great, but still, wht's so bad about Bazalonia's song? It makes a good and true comment about the songs in this contest and the last one. And there were other things to this besides the songs. Like, for example, the show that Wentland put on when giving out their points.

Jawalski: Yeah, that was good. Maybe we should get the SBC to do something like this!

Wiadzase: Okay, however, talking about it on TV isn't that convincing. We should move on. Any other songs, scoring events, or results you would like to talk about?

Jawalski: Well, I still can't believe our own country gave 12 points to that horrible song from Khenas! It must be the ex-pats!

Wiadzase: yeah, it's probably them, but don't worry that much, it's not like there were that many better songs to give 12 points to. But, yeah, Zwangzug deserved it more. Still, Lovisa even finishes with 0 points!

Jawalski: Yes, Lovisa, okay, too bad Edward city does not meet the same fate.

Wiadzase: Well, you can't really say that much about this WorldVision's scores, almost all the songs suck. Let's just wait and see if next year's contest will have bettter songs.

Also, I'd suggest bolding the originality rule in the next signup thread, as people don't seem to understand it.)

When Graham Keneddy heard the results he pumped his fist in the air andscreamed "Yeah!" it was good to win, and good to finally beat those damned Rejistanians too. Not that he had anything personally against Rejistania, just their recent dominance of the international song contest had started to give them giant status... and he was the giant killer.

Getting up on stage to aceppt the award he made a brief speech.

"Variety is the spice of life... and I like my life ~spicy~." It couldn't be classified as a speech but he said this line and stepped down... wondering what the future would hold for his career

The rejistanis were a bit disappointed but in the green room, they would not show it. The rejistani tradition dictates self-control (the only exception to the basic law to remain in control of yourself and not to show strong emotions is sekhika). Hila~n, Hilji, Relui~l, Tiray, and Seljen congratulated Graham Keneddy, Then, Seljen sad something in Ehila~oan: "One always meets twice in life and then we will see again!"

(Wait till the next sign-up thread goes up (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=529294), and comment there.)

In contrast to Swilatian views that this time was as bad as last, more of these songs have enjoyed popularity in Zwangzug. The votes cast roughly reflect the level of interest. "Another Stupid Love Song" is a wild favorite. The Wentland entry, while not played on radio very often, is viewed online rather often. Rejistania's long-term effect may be more in inspiring study of the language. 7 The songs from The Freethinkers, Bostopia, Lerasia, and Khenas are somewhat popular among "niche" groups, though not as popular nationwide as "Another Stupid Love Song". None of the other songs are very popular.

Just to let you know, Jawalski and Wiadzase just present their view. They in no way represent the opinions of all of Swilatia.
