"The multiverse, vast and populated by an innumerable diversity which had for so long eluded the comprehension of the human mind. Even Earth had it's own secrets, private to the average eye. The dawn of interplanetary travel has--" The inorganic voice was interrupted by the hand of one of the most prominent neuroscientists in the cyberstate, Dr. Viatka Sakharusov, whose neck, spine and head was evidently covered with neural implants and datajacks.
She seemed cold, and distant. Her voice almost like the monotonous tone of a pure artificial intelligence. "Don't go into your routine introductions and tell me who the subject is, please."
"Certainly, doctor." You would have noticed that he paused, were he not a cybernetic drone easily capable of search functions. "Cerra Makrayn-Ikolev, Revenian heritage of course. Her potential is most significant amongst the hybrid populace, but even then is merely a fraction of what reputedly a true member of her father race could be."
The doctor scrutinizes the woman; lanky frame, silver eyes and she bore absolutely no trace of augmentations cybernetic or otherwise. She lay in the quarantined room, unconscious--sleeping at the moment. What she was, was perfect specimen, almost too perfect. "Did she or did she not come with her own consent? Command realizes that it is quite difficult to reason with Revenians about our experiments, especially with their pro-organic stance?"
"She came of her own consent at the reward we were offering," The drone addresses her question promptly, "She was told what we are to do-- to try to determine the degree of psionics her breed is capable of, effects of neural augmentation, etcetera. She has also been informed as to what rather negligible but nonetheless risks to permanent brain injury she is to take. She agreed to every last detail, even repeated twice."
Viatka touched her face as the drone went on. Yes, but I still don't believe she had a choice in the matter. Not with the current social welfare system. Poor kids, born as 'accidents' from the Revenian observational post's personnel. Mothers can't raise them alone. Fathers won't take them in even as half-Ascended. Orphanages can't support everyone. "I will have to confirm that when she is actually awake. I do not intend to have an international incident on our hands." True, her stature and voice was as impartial as any scientist would ever be, but she was a mother. It was inherently disagreeable to her no matter how much of her is non-organic.
"Poor kids, born as 'accidents'--"
In her subconscious mind, Cerra heard small fragments of the thoughts of the people of touched her, melding fresh memory into dreams; Of cybernetic worlds and peoples, creative brains replaced by cognitive machines. Consciousness is merely a loose term, defined by the position of the core of the being, be it in reality or the cybernetic world. False divinities of worlds they create within the artificial world, within a world of false divinities.
Viatka turned away from Cerra and tended to MRI imaging of her brain, and thus the dreamworld went on as is, for an indeterminate time yet.
OOC:
It's open, in a sense. Researchers, drones of a more scientific nature and other personnel of the like. Revenia gets priority, if he wants individuals to participate as such or as investigators.
