Artificial Principality

The name of the Celestial Principalities signifies their Godlike princeliness and authoritativeness in an Order which is holy and most fitting to the princely Powers, and that they are wholly turned towards the Prince of Princes, and lead others in princely fashion, and that they are formed, as far as possible, in the likeness of the Source of Principality, and reveal Its superessential order by the good Order of the princely Powers.

~ The Celestial Hierarchy, Areopagite

The dreary sound of a soprano so bitter yet so sweet, singing in the native language, seemed to reverberate in the entire room. Somber and melancholic the music and her voice, even as it reaches its peak. Only to gently end, without gratuity.

A completely encased room, save for the door; It was not particularly effulgent, yet that was its primary purpose; function. The walls were painted uniformly in a cream, the ceiling white and the carpet a deep blood red. In the middle was only one chair, velvet and well kempt. Seated in that lonely chair, a tall Caucasian female, invariably connected by dozens of neural uplinks lining her spinal column and neck. Her head was encased in a helm-like mask without holes to show her ‘eyes’, showing only to the world a faceless column of composite material.

Her name inscribed in the plate, in her native language: Anzhelika.

She was clinically immortal, her ‘skin’ and ‘body’ only a mere cosmetic housing for the life support systems and slave intelligences that all linked to her brain, bathed in a nanobot soup that kept her mind intact. Whether or not she was truly alive anymore was a question only her creator, proverbial father, could have answered, and he is dead, long dead. She is not emotionless, however, as she has to keep a moderate stance towards people; she just seems so cold when she is engaged in every other task. She sees what no one person sees in entirety, the bitter world she governs-- the nationstate.

As incomprehensible as her being was to unaugmented sentient organics, diplomacy required a tangible form. Her preferred avatar, in hologram or the net, was that of a noblewoman not unlike her ‘body’, not particularly draped in jewelry, save for an opal white gold necklace. Her ivory formal dress was modest to her figure, but at the same time so intricately done in detail, trimmings and all. Her flowing straight hair moved effortlessly as her avatar did, and her face of a young lady in contemplation.

Lost in herself.

Overview: Codedate: 0102930

The nationstate had suffered a collapse of its interplanetary resources as a result of frequent infighting and the loss of trade, investments. Subsequently the Cimmeria Mars colony and its corresponding fleet elements and assembly/staging area has been abandoned in 0101566. Since, off-world presence and much later on even regional presence of the nationstate had diminished almost to the point of non-existence. Eventually half of the remaining fleet elements in warships were converted to purely peacetime duties such as mining. The Citadel ship itself was eventually scrapped, serving as material for smaller more logistically viable ships.

On-world the archipelago went into stagnation. It was not a case of economic depression, but rather a lack of political aim, and previous oversight that had diminished its resources to more pressing needs.

However, research on neural net and neural net interfaces never ceased throughout, still apparently funded by the need to manage drone networks as well as automation of manufacturing and commercial functions. As the process of augmentation and the materiel became cheaper, the cybernetic society of the state flourished, shuffling the stagnation of humanity to escape into neural net. Complications that would naturally arose from two different kinds of humanity in a society were averted, for the most part. The society of augmented humanity and humanity was stable, even at its worst, but it was out of being civil—suppressing open enmity out of fear of government retribution. Reproduction diminished, but was still existent, intercourse for the most part replaced by gene banks that held enough genetic diversity. Efficiency became the primary issue, which drew interest in a cybernetic government.

Enter the cyberstate;

In 0102090, AI Anzhelika (Anzhela) came online, hybrid of (corrupt data: continue? Yes.)

and multiple slave intelligences. She was the first and apparently to be the last presiding chairperson of the nationstate. The pervasive eyes of her numerous slave intelligences monitored every aspect of the nationstate both in reality and the net; though the councilors of each individual island of the archipelago still had the power to overrule her if need be, her efficiency was unquestionable. As the councilors aged, their usefulness diminished, and thus after evaluation of the AI they have decided to retire and their positions be declared obsolete--void.

Present day.

Cold is the only constant. Isolation needs to end eventually.

A marakushev sat in the urban tundra outside, the descendant of a bastard child between an arctic fox and a junkyard dog, and licked at her chops before being caught by a passing drone and carried away.
