What is a MUSH?

MUSH is a server platform used to create multi-player, text-based environments. MUSH stands for "Multi-User Shared Hallucination". MUSH is part of a family of similar games. The family as a whole is referred to as the MUD or MU* family. Other members of the family include MUX, MUSE, MUCK, MOO, and a few others. The basic function of all of these programs is the same, but each uses slightly different commands. A comparison would be word processors. Word and WordPerfect are two different programs with different commands, but they both serve the same basic function.

What can I do on Nationstates MUSH?


Create a character and roleplay the character representing your nation.

Create an embassy on Embassy Avenue representing your nation in International City (Contact Athel)

Hold a diplomatic conference at the International Conference Center

Socialize with other diplomats and characters

Build your nation so that people can access it from the International Airport (Need MUSH Experience to build yourself)

I dn't think many NSers have heard of a MUSH.

Last time I had a pretty good result, but it took awhile for people to realize

I got so far as to creating a nick, but it wouldn't let me take "Bostopia" because it was an illegal or already taken nick.

In a much confused state, I gave up.

I am aware of MUSH, but I prefer to engage in forum-based RP. I'm too busy editing my NSwiki entry to conform to NPOV :rolleyes:

If anyone is wondering what they can do with Nationstates MUSH it is very cool because it is like an interactive environment with numerous "rooms" that are areas, so for instance you can create an embassy with an Courtyard, Ambassador's Office, Conference Room, etc. or a residence. Each room is like a chatroom, but easier to move around and speak in and there are MUSH-wide communications (like paging which is like private messaging)

Currently the main area of Nationstates MUSH is International City, an international extra-diplomatic area. Here you can meet with other representatives and create your embassy on Embassy Avenue.

The emphasis here is on character roleplay, though you can come just to chat.

Also if you have experience in a MUSH or MUD you can build areas of your nation, with an International Airport in your nation linked to the International City Airport so that people may come visit your nation

It does not seem to be getting much use, should I just close it?

but it seems way to difficult

especially because i have no idea about MUSH and all the links on that site u suggested dont seem to exist anymore
