Second WorldVision Song Contest (sign-up, wide open)

So, this is baisically like eurovision. Same basic structure, although this is on NS, and nations of any region can join. If you do not know what Eurovision is, you can find info on it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision).

How does this work: Everyone signs up in this thread, like you do for a world cup (simple "we sign up" post). then in the rp thread there will be 2 waves of rp's. In the first, posts shold give a description of the national final, and show the title of the nation's song and its artist. In the second wave, everyone posts their show. This should include what happens on the stage and that kind of stuff, and must include the lyrics, unless you post a video, wich gives you the ultimate nerd award, or post an MP3, which will put you close to getting the ultimate nerd award. Do not use artists/songs that exist in RL. Voting will be done IC, so you shoulld post your votes in the thread at that time, the way its done in eurovision ( giving the best songs (in your opinion) points, the best 12, second best 10, then next 8, then 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.

No, I will not host, I'm looking for some-one else do this.

Official Communique of the Freethinker Broadcasting Corporation

We are delighted to be able to request the participation of a song and performing artist(s) from the Freethinker Commonwealth in the 2nd World Vision contest. We hope that, although we are new participants, that we can add yet another cultural experience for viewers and judges alike.

We would also like to state that with our state-of-the-art broadcasting facilities, multifractal media reach, unequalled venues, music loving population and party atmosphere we offer ourselves, unless it happened to be decided otherwise, as hosts for this illustrious event.

Yours sincerely

bumpage.
Bostopia
15-04-2007, 15:40
Bostopia would like to enter for a second time. Fortunately, the Emperor and Empress will not be out to win the kiddie vote this year, due to a number of spectacular non-political entries back home in Bostopia that therefore don't need rivalling by another ideology.
Rejistania
15-04-2007, 16:34
Rejistania signs up! Han'xen!
Wentland

We're not sure if we'll let you in. We do not want another fascist song, and thus will keep you out unless other countries signed up so far think you sould be let in.
The Freethinkers

OOC: So how do you wanna decide who hosts? Looks like we have a couple of volunteers for that. As for Strator, well, may as well the bugger in, free speech and all. Hell, if thats the crap they like there then why not.

"Holy fuck, no!"*

~ Kevin Ulbricht, upon hearing of the Strathorian intention. Abovementioned comment was recorded and sent to whoever's in charge, too.

* Not that anyone would have a problem with a fascist song, per se. But many have a problem with Strator...

Due to the difficulty involved in transporting our contestant to the World Vision Song Contest #1, The FBWVOC has decided to not enter this round of competition. However, Fattyboland still regards itself as one of the World Vision Family so we would still like to broadcast the competition and still be involved in the the televoting procedure - if this is possible.

I'm going for 20, but if we don't have that many in some amount of time, it might start earlier. I don't think a sign-up should be closed after just 4 days.

Why is the voting limited for participating nations only, considering this is based on Eurovision I would have thought that it would have been allowed for all nations that broadcast WorldVision.:(

It isn't that way with Eurovision Either. It's limited to participants there as well, except nations in the Final can vote in the semifinal, and vice-versa.

no need for the OOC tag. posts in a sign-up thread don't have to be IC.

Zwangzug would host the contest in Merano (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Merano), which certainly values its music (even if it doesn't necessarily value its country). If we're doing ideological themes, (like peace last time around) we'll support free speech. And the right of the excessively-free-speakers/singers to be eliminated, as it were.

Not much more to say, really. Hosting seems to be a largely ceremonial duty. If it comes to bumping and making sure numbers are added up right, Zwangzug can do that too.

Bazalonia will if selected to host the WorldVision:

1. Have the contest hosted in the National Theatre for the Performance Arts in Drago. Competitors may perform on either the main stage or a dias in the middle of the Audience

2. Will make it known how many people have performed and have yet to perform, and voted as wel asl keeping the score card updated. All this will be on the first post of the performance thread

3. Will create the national finals and also provide same standard of information for national finals (i.e.) who has posted and who hasn't

Official Communique of the Freethinker Broadcasting Corporation

Dear Sirs,

It has been decided for the moment that the FBC will withdraw its bid to host the competition due to the perceived insufficient time for preparation given the relatively lack of experience in hosting such an event on an international scale, and though the groundwork has been laid for a future bid we do not feel fully confident we can provide the level of support needed to host the competition.

Therefore we have elected to withdraw our bid to host this event, and insytead place our full support behind the Bazalonian bid, confident in their capacity to pull this show off. The Commonwealth will still be sending a performing act and will also participate in the final voting.

Yours sincerely

The Freethinker Broadcasting Corporation

(Yeah, other RPs and upcoming exams are gonna prevent me giving the time necessary to do this properly. Work I did do for this bid will form the basis of our bid to host a third incarnation of this event. Sorry all)
