Firm's Stocks Soar
Up and coming design and construction firm, Alon Construction, has seen its stocks soar as thier unique and original building designs sweep the country. Where traditional architecture uses stone and pyramid designs, Alon has challenged the status-quo with thier bold biological concepts. The typical Alon home design consists of a large root, spiraling out of the ground, topped by a hollowed pod or series of connected pods. To the naked eye, it looks like an otherworldy mushroom atop a spiralling trunk.
Yesterday, Alon was confirmed as the fastest growing company in the Commonwealth. This comes at a crucial time when General Labour Incorporated is set to suffer greatly from the expectd anti-slavery laws. Economic analysts are hailing the rise of Alon Construction as a saviour for the Commonwealth's economy.

Massive resignations rock the Commonwealth:
In a suprise move, the majority of the Commonwealth senate has resigned. Political analysts have been left stumped. The boldest venture a guess that this is somehow related to the anti-slavery legislation from the Chancellor that was expected to go to vote next week.
Senators offered no comment as they filed out of the capital. A press release said that the 11 Senators who resigned will name thier successers in the following days.

New Senators Announced
In a Press Conference today, the 11 resigning Senators announced their replacements. In a bold, and still not understood move, 11 of the Senators have replaced themselves with political newcomers. Most are relatively unknown individuals, but suprisingly, Yitzhak, CEO of General Labour, has filled a seat. Each of the new Senators has connections to the Commonwealth's major corporations. This has stirred up controversy within the nation.
The Chancellor, when asked about the situation, confirmed that while the Senate had been seperate and unrelated to the corporations, there was no law against it. In an unusually candid move, he went on to state his suspicions for the corporate move. "General Labour has had a falling out with the Chancellory over the anti-slavery laws. I suspect this is Yitzhak's move to block the legislation. I think this is a good sign that the corporate control in the Commonwealth should be reigned in. I wonder how much Mr. Yitzhak had to pay [the Senators] for them to resign."
When asked what this would mean for his anti slavery laws, the Chancellor offered no real comment, but said he would study the situation closely.

Chancellor Challenges the System with Anti-Slavery Vote
Chancellor Elkanah announced today that his anti-slavery legislation would be postponed two more weeks, but would indeed go through. Since the political fiasco in the Senate, most analysts have agreed that the anti-slavery laws were dead in the water. However, the Chancellor has implemented a long unused, and all but forgotten law which allows the Chancellory to send legislature directly to a popular vote by the people.
Senator Yitzhak refused comment but was visibly angry by the move. Political commentators warn that this is the beginning of a change with regards to Senatory power. They say that once the populace has the taste of a popular vote that is not a referendum, they will demand that right be exercised more. This will effectively limit the Senate with regards to legislation. The move has increased the Chancellor's stagnant popularity by an enormous percent, possibly garaunteeing another term in next years elections.

Public Vote met with Resistance
Voters were met outside polling booths by armed militants intent on preventing a vote. The Chancellor responded by dispatching his personal guard forces, as well as police. Fighting broke out, and several armed men were arrested. Shots were fired, but no one was seriously hurt thanks to the lack of non-lethal weapons in the Commonwealth.

Gangs admit Senate Connection
Gang members who initiated violence at polling booths have been interrogated. Some have confessed to being hired by Senate aides to stop abolitionists from reaching the polling booths. The Chancellor has called a meeting of top aides, as well as the head of the police and military to a conference to discuss the Senate's moves.

The Votes Are In!
The votes are in, and the people have said no to slavery. Analysts say this will mark a new age for international acceptance, and a good step forwards for the nation. This comes amid more violence from armed militants and gangs, now thought to be in the employ of a corrupt new Senate.

Capital on Lockdown as Violence Flares
More violence has erupted in the wake of the successful public vote. The capital was placed on a tight curfew and lockdown after a homemade grenade was thrown at the Chancellor's Hall. There have been reports of firefights breaking out between militants and police.

Chancellor Dissolves Senate
In one of the most suprising moves of the last few weeks, the Chancellor has ordered that the Senate be dissolved. He has declared a state of emergency within the Commonwealth and has ordered a military sweep through the capital to remove militants.
"The recent resignation of the Senate and the subsequent appointment of Corporate individuals shows clear corruption and perversion of the office of the Senate. That, and the connection to the waves of violence unleashed upon Commonwealth citizens, has lead me to order the Senate to abdicate and the Senate itself to be dissolved for the time being. We will cleanse this Commonwealth of corruption!"

Military Assaults Militants
The Commonwealth Military Contract (CMC) has executed Operation Sieve. The purpose of this operation is to clear Senate-affiliated militants from the capital and subsequently the entire nation. Early stages of the operation have reported success, with most militants laying down thier arms when faced with the military.

A Socialist Commonwealth?
Political Analysts and Scholars are forecasting a stark governmental change in the coming weeks and months. With the corporate corruption in government now brought to the forelight, many suspect the Chancellor will nationalize crucial industries while passing laws to forbid corporate interests in government. The responses have been lukewarm at best. Most say they would not object, but are very skeptical of any system fundamentally altering the government. "The Chancellor will have to walk a fine line on this. He is a man of the people at the moment, he shouldn't destroy that trust with foolhardy moves."

From FOEnet's World Labor Report:

"This could indeed be a great turning point for the people of Nephtali. The next logical step would certainly be signing on to the International Fair Trade Agreement (http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/CACE/index.php?showtopic=536), if not outright Coalition of Anti Capitalist Economies (http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/CACE/index.php?showtopic=2) membership. International allies and trading partners who will encourage the Commonwealth's path towards social justice is just what the Nephtalians need in this crucial time of transition."

From the Vigvar Daily:

Socialists on our doorstep?

Has Chancellor Elkanah conducted a socialist revolution in Nephtali? Such is the question many ask as the nation is going through some drastic changes in its government. One can be sure that Vigvar shall be watching the situation with particularly keen interest, especially as the events come in the aftermath of Foreign Minister's Khat visit to the Commonwealth in order to convince the local leadership to abolish slave trade.

As such, it remains to see what course Nephtali shall take and what Vigvar's reaction, if any, shall be. One does know that Taraskovya's relations with socialist countries has traditionally been cool.

Chancellor Denies Socialist Claims
Chancellor Elkanah has denied rumors that he will be instituting a Socialist reform in the commonwealth.
"It is true that for the immediate future, there will be extensive government control in the offending corporations. However, be assured that when the corruption has been eliminated and this crises has ended, the government will relinguish those controls. New laws will be drawn up to wrest political power from industry and return it to the people."

Violence Ended
There has been an eerie calm over the capital today. CMC soldiers still patrol the streets, but the gunshots and explosions which have been so commonplace over the last week have subsided. Police and military forces alike breath a heavy sigh of relief.
