A Unusual Prince (Open)

Yvresse as a craft world was a strange place, on the one hand all where born equal, it was ruled by a Council of Farseer’s who where drawn from all aspects of society. Yet, at its core was a Nobility, Nobles, and Princes who ruled territory’s the size of City States upon the mammoth Craftworld. Entire Domes where ruled over by these Prince’s Tens of Thousands of Souls owed fealty to these Princes. They formed a unique layer of status within Yvresse.
The strange contradiction rested with how these Princes came to be, it was not an inherited position rather each of the Paths within Yvresse had expanded rights over various areas of the craft world. Holding the right to appoint gifted members of their path to the position of Prince, or another lesser title of nobility, a title they would hold until and after their death.
There are many such noted individuals amongst Yvresse society, Iyanna herself prior to becoming a Farseer was awarded the Title of Prince, amongst the Path of the Companions-of -the Many. ‘Ruling’ over a smaller City State noted for its, liberal, attitudes to, well everything, as befitted a population owing fealty to such a Shrine.
Jelthier was about to be raised to the position of Prince. During his time amongst the path of the consort he had served faithfully, and true. His companion had enjoyed years of pleasure, and faithful attention. Indeed as befitted this path, he had been her closest confidant, the person turned to in the darkest hours, and first person she shared her successes with. In short Jeltheir had reached the pinnacle of his path; most importantly however he avoided the pitfalls. He enjoyed his Patron’s complete faith and trust, and been told secrets late at night, things usually told only to one’s partner, and yet no love was shared between the two. Neither forgot the nature of their relationship. Now that he was leaving that path behind, he was leaving her behind; she would gain another companion and go on, as would he.
His service had been exemplary, and so he was honoured, to become Prince Jelthier of Nathan a bustling metropolis of 1.5 Million Souls, for whom he would gain control of a measure of their successes and failures via tithes. He was about to become a very rich man by the considerations of the Yvresse. Perhaps he thought, I should take a consort
More importantly he was at a loose end, he ruled over some 1.5 Million souls, (in theory)he was a prince, and he had just finished his path. As a Prince it was traditional for him to be allowed a year before starting a new path, or becoming an outcast… For the past few days he had been debating matters for himself… Yvresse had often kept it’s Monarchical roots separate from it’s public face, with the spreading importance of the Mon-Keigh in Yvresse affair’s this irked him. He was a Prince now, full of fresh Pride, yet outside of Yvresse he would be seen as little more than any other Keigh.
To whom it may Concern
I write to you on behalf of the Prince Jelthier of Nathan. A Prince of the Yvresse peoples, Lord of the City state of Nathan by the grace of his actions. Wishes to visit your nation. To perhaps bring back to the Keigh of Yvresse a greater understanding of your peoples.

(OOC mainly this is open ended, in recent discussions with Ctany it was decided the Keigh are a very monarchical peoples. Their head God was a King, they sacrifice the Young King, every where you look high ranking Keigh are called Prince. So how did they earn that title? Just randomly deciding they where a Prince seemed weird, yet inherited titles seemed out of character considering the Path system, which tends to make everyone equal.
Instead therefore what if Titles came about for success within a Path system, and gave rights. So here we are a newly minted prince. (Yes anyone asking he became a Prince for basically being a Concubine. Iyanna became a Prince for being a little less picky than this guy….) Ideally I’d like to visit a monarchy to start establishing where such people might be in societal pecking orders, but I am not too picky. I’d also not mind having him visit nations Yvresse hasn’t too much contact with; this might be a way to establish contact after all. This is a new char and I am very open in how he goes.
One last thing, while he officially ‘Rules over the city’ he has very little actual power, outside of his cash flow, he’s no more powerful than the Welsh assembly.)
Your Honor,
I would be most honored if his Royal Highness came to Kurona. We are a peaceful nation with limited technology but we are still freindly and always looking for freinds. If you land in The Republic of Kilovary, or the Empire of Yurka, I can personally escorte you back to Kurona by boat. It's not that far thus the journey will be short compard to most other destinations. I am prepared to give him a taste of all we have to offer.
Truly,
Princess

Should your Prince Jelthier of Nathan be interested in learning of other nations then he would be welcome should he decide to visit Theao. Should he be interested, we would be honoured to provide transport.

The City State of Nathan produced a large amount of tithes, which was held in between princes in trust. For the last Thirty years no Prince had of Nathan had existed and so Jelthier was able to afford a few luxuries upon achieving Prince Ship. The first of which was his ‘Yacht’ slipping the mooring aboard the mammoth Craftworld of Yvresse it headed quietly into the web and the long journey to Sol.
Onboard the Craft Jelthier leaned back, around him moved the silent shapes of his crew and new servant’s. It should have been perhaps a strange experience for the man; a few weeks ago he would have been amongst their number after all. Yet this was the Path system, at the moment they walked a path of service, uncovering a part of them that obeyed another based purely on social standing, experiencing such things. In time it was possible Jalthier would walk besides these people on another path, their equal on the path but here outside of the path he was a Prince.
As a Prince of the Path of the Consort, he was attended by others who still walked that path, as they did honour to him. It made the journey seem far shorter, still eventually they reached Earth and the vessel began the arduous process of landing upon the planet. As it did so he prepared himself to meet with the princess, rising languidly clothing was brought to him, rich silken robes and fine gemstones adorned his body, most catching of all through was the stone tucked away barely peeking out from under the clothing he wore, old and time worn it was his constant companion, looking around his staff they all carried such an item.
With a clap of his hands the Eldar had brought to him a box, a quick examination of its contents and then he smiled before passing the box back to the Consort who had brought him the box. Then it was time to leave and meet his host, the crafts sleek form that had seemed seemingly almost one piece cracked open, and a ramp lowered, the alien material of Wraithbone would, he thought to himself, draw a suitably appreciative audience, it was time to make his entrance.

((OOC One note very few (read two) people ICly know the real space location of Yvresse. The messages are sent from Haranshemesh Mars (Otherwise known as Tor Yvresse-Mars) it’s a minor point but I realised some confusion may exist. As I have said this is a new char and I am still looking for a picture to use as inspiration for his appearance, so the description of his features will have to wait till my next post))

All citizens of the Yvresse Craftworld have an open visa to visit the Craftworld of Aelosia, just tell your Prince he is free to visit anytime he wishes, and that we actually are interested to show him our feudal and aristocratic system, to compare with his own, alongside the many wonders that we have built so foreigners can enjoy them with glee.
I wish to personally meet the Prince, and share with him both our similarities and differences.
Lovingly
Aliria.

The Aelosian people had been friends of the Yvresse for a long time, despite some awkward times now behind them, it had been a productive relationship for the Yvresse. This meant that the Prince Jelthier could hardly expect to send a reply to their Everqueen via his Consort, by any measure of it, the Council would expect and demand of him to answer such a message himself.
To Her Highness the Lady Aliria, Everqueen of Aelosia.
Your Royal Majesty. Words alone cannot express my pleasure at your reply, and your invite. I of course shall attend your Craftworld, and look forward to the day of my visit fondly and with great anticipation.
The Prince Jelthier of Nathan.
Preparations were made to an extent, in preparation to host the visiting guest, including discreet research into any unusual biological, cultural, linguistic or social traits that might present complications.
A short reply was sent to the tune that they were happy to host the Prince and that they were certain he would find his trip most interesting.
ooc: Then just assume the vessel was passing by Haranshemesh Mars, so as to avoid any clashes.

The H.M.S. Raven escoted the ship into the harbor. It was Kurona's oldest ship still used for cerimonial occasions such as greeting visitors. The weather had been calm, unusual for the Xanadouien sea. Tomoyo stood and gave a bow. "Your Highness, welcome to Kurona."

On his own he might not stand out too much he was dressed almost conservatively, his clothing long and flowing, and dignified, it was his ‘companions’ that drew the attention of the viewer. Each was dressed in clothing that was almost indecent, certainly highly revealing. Each outfit at first was seemingly chosen at random until a closer examination, not a single colour or fabric found on the, almost lingerie outfits worn by his companions, was not found on the man’s own clothing, nor where any colours repeated. Gemstones where a common feature on every one of the entourage from necklaces, and bracelets and other pieces. Each of the women seemed to have more… Jewry than seemed sensible and it seemed almost impossible that they could move without making a sound, and yet they did.
As they left the craft the man smiled a moment at the Princess and bowed his greeting, his features where sharp, yet in truth he didn’t stand out. He was almost plain, for his race, sharp angular features, the pointed ears of his race, a lithe, if athletic body. Yet somehow he moved with a grace that drew away from his plainer facial features, with a confidence in himself.
‘Your Highness, it pleases me greatly to be a guest of your peoples.’ His tone was lyrical if a little slow at times, as through he where carefully selecting each word, from a language he rarely used. ‘May I present to you a token of my esteem and thanks for your invitation.’ Turning to one of his companions he spoke a short sentence in a language that managed to be both musical and harsh. When he finished the woman stepped forward gave a small bow, and presented the box to the princess for her examination.
In itself the box was stunning, made of wood, and hand-carved, inlaid with silver, and other stranger metals, it bore a likeness of the heavens as seen from a distant world. Giving the Princess a moment to admire the box it was opened. Inside lay clothing, richly made, a few smaller cases, that contained oils and scents from a hundred different sources, some simple perfumes while others where more personal oils. At the bottom of the box sat a single bottle of some sort of wine, dust covered it still, and it seemed of great age.
‘I trust this meets with your approval, I apologise of course should I have acted improperly for your peoples traditions however.’
As he spoke the woman stepped back, awaiting a moment to pass the gift over to one of the Princesses party.
Tomoyo admired the box and the gifts inside. Very nice gifts such as perfumes which she smelled a few. "Thank you. Thank you very much. Koji-sempai dosmandana. Xchimonihe Ħshi zeur?"
"Ħai."
The man she was speaking too bowed and took the gifts. "Koji-sempai will take the gifts to my chambers, once again I welcome you to our fine country, and as our visitor I will let you call the shots. What ever you like it is your choice. I also don't imagin you know Kurma, so it's best to stay with me or an interprater."

Pausing in thought Jelthier considered the situation before nodding to himself. ‘You are correct I do not speak your local tongue, I speak very few languages outside of Eldarin the language of my people. As for what I would like to do in your fine nation, I am unsure, I have spent so little time amongst the Craustarid, pardon humans.’ While attempting to appear like a fish out of water, Jelthier had actually been very careful in his selection of words, his slip up was a minor one, and indeed, almost a compliment, the Eldar had two words for humans, Craustarid was the species name they gave them, and was used rarely, usually the Eldar referred to all the races other than themselves by one word, Mon-Keigh.
That word had connotations that could be seen as an insult, it was a word that spoke of a desire for the extinction of the race, of the lack of any intrinsic value, the word Jelthier had used on the other hand, had fewer such connections, more importantly. An observer of the Eldar would recognise this, in many ways he was perhaps testing his host’s and their reaction. It was unlikely his host spoke Eldarin, it was a difficult language to learn, full of metaphor’s and subtle meanings carried by body language and tone of voice. A subtle inflection change could alter he meaning of a word drastically, but his host might have heard the Eldar speak to others before, and been expecting the other word.
‘So in my ignorance I cannot suggest a specific thing I would like to see or do, perhaps then something a little more generic? I would like to see… what you feels defines your people culturally, what makes you unique and sets you apart as a people, what are you most proud of…’
"Well come and we will go into Sonomi."
She beckond him to her private carriage. "This is our largest port city and is the only trade port in Kurona. Much of that is due to our long isolationist stance but that is slowly fading away. Sure it's bustling now but one Fall it was ravaged due to relentles bad weather. And now were moving along open country path, Kurona does have a lot of farms, and there is one there now." They entered the capital city. "I know we looked lost in time, again isolation we haven't really modernized and frankly I don't see a great need to."
"We'll be ariving on the Palace Grounds soon your highness."
"Thank you. Anyway Kurona has very vast country sides from east to west. Anyway, welcome to our palace, I would imagin you would like something to eat."

Looking over the carriage a moment Jalthier turned to his companions and whispered something once more in that unusually lyrical and yet harsh language before entering the Carriage. At his words all but one of his companions turned to re-enter Gauthier’s private vessel, the one remaining woman leaped up gracefully into the carriage, as she did so, the hem of her outfit rose slightly revealing a little more of her body, before almost she lithely entered the carriage herself, smiling at the Princess in a manor that was… a little too forward before settling back comfortably in the carriage.
As the journey commenced and the Princess explained some of the history of her people Jalthier nodded, ‘My people too prefer to keep outsiders away from our homes, to avoid unfortunate contamination culturally, and spiritually. I can therefore understand the lengths you go to yourselves.
Entering the city itself Jelthier was careful to keep his opinions guarded, for the Yvresse through it was hard to really see the difference between what many humans considered backwards and modern. So he simply decided to tell the truth, ‘I really can’t tell too much, it’s a very pleasant city, I am unfamiliar with the architectural style through, and it seems familiar through.’ As he spoke the woman by his side leaned over to whisper something in Jalthier’s ear, her tone was low and sultry, after a moment a moment Jalthier smiled in answer.
‘I really must apologise, my Consort here remained me of my lack of manners in not introducing her…’ as he spoke his explanation the woman by his side giggled, making it clear that was not what she had been whispering. ‘May I present Maevin, a walker of the Path of the Companion-of-one. I suppose in your language the closest parallel would be my Concubine.’
As they arrived at the Palace he nodded ‘Yes indeed I would enjoy the chance to take refreshments, Maevin here through should speak to your chef, to avoid any unpleasant surprise regarding diets.’ This was a rather polite exaggeration most human foods where edible to the Eldar, but they enjoyed an increase in the number of taste buds,, and as such powerful tastes tended to overwhelm the palate, on it’s on this was not a problem, but it did mean the Eldar preferred their foods lightly spiced.
Several plates of food were placed down in front of him, plates included steam vegies, fruit, and tender meat

Jalthier managed to eat the assortment of foods before him without once touching a utensil or plate. Besides him throughout the entire meal, pressing herself so close to the Eldar she practically melded into him was Maevin. She fed him the entire meal with a mischievous glint in her eyes, sometimes insisting he close his eyes and guess what he was eating. Othertimes she dipped her fingers into the various sauces and held them out to him for Jalthier to lick them off, it was all in all a highly suggestive display.
Despite this presence, and her occasional whispered comment he was careful to keep the majority of his attention on his hostess. ‘So tell me about your people, you said that you have just started to leave a long period of isolationism, what brought about this shift in policy? Was it need, or a major social upheaval?'
"well it was mostly my father that started the end of isloation. He felt it was pointless to remain in isolation with our economy the way it is. Still many were skeptical including my self once I took over. But since the Kurona Storm and the nuclear attack against us, I've felt it neede be that we break off our isloation, and make freinds to help us when we need it."

Nodding his head at the Polite moments Jalthier’s companion leaned over to whisper in his ear something, which caused him to chuckle somewhat before lightly smiling. ‘My consort here reminded me of Haranshemesh. When he who was a Council Melian first High Farseer of Yvresse first looked upon Sol, he came to a realisation, and the outside world is far too vibrant a thing to ignore. We Kionash, needed to claim our rightful place within it, yet like your people, we do not take well to legions of foreigners, and outsiders.’
For a brief second a disdainful look crossed both the Eldar’s faces before they continued on. ‘So it was he arrived at a solution, the colony of Haranshemesh, it is a part of, yet not a part of Yvresse. Open to all, and a place where foreigner’s can emigrate, with it’s own semi-autonomous government, a protectorate if you like of the Council’ Looking a little confused for a second he fidgeted as his companion held a glass to his lips allowing him to take a drink, before he continued. ‘So anyway, Haranshemesh allows us to mix with the Foreigner, goods can be shipped there, Embassies opened there, and access to the government achieved, all without needing the foreigner, the Mon-keigh, to go to Yvresse proper. Have you ever thought of something similar, opening a Foreign Quarter where the business of trade can be conducted without the problems of the outsider tainting your culture?’
"No I haven't really. That has been one of my concernes it tainting of our culture. I like the way Kurona is."
