Good people, last week, upon the announcement of the marriage of my son, Prince Marcus, to the beautiful Lady Shaeyalla or the Mage's Guild, I mentioned a tradition. This tradition states that the current ruler of Relannae will endow upon the people, a gift.
I have thought long and hard over the last week, deciding if it would be safe to give the people of our world, the gift I have in mind.
This gift is more for the people who live outside of our borders on this world, since we have had use of it for many millenia.
I finally came to a few decisions simultaneously.
1. As of now, the Imperial Ministry of Health has been ordered to produce large quantities of a certain series of drugs. These drugs have not been needed by our people in over 80,000 years, since it's benefits are passed down to each generation in the DNA of the parents. These are a class of drugs we call Anagathics. There are basically 3 different kinds which were commonly used.
Type 1 will slow the aging process in any living organism that the drug is specifically tailored for. With this drug, it is possible to extend the human life span to over 500 years with repeat doses.
Type 2 Anagathics will freeze the aging process of any organism that it is tailored for at the age the organism was when the drugs were administered. This drug may be administered only once and it's effects do not diminish since it does permanent alterations to most of the body's major systems as well as it's DNA.
Finally there is Type 3. This is the most sophisticated and hard to manufacture version of the drug. With type 3, once administered to an organism which it has been specifically tailored to, the drug will actually revert the aging process to the point at which the subjects body was at it's physical peak. This varies from person to person, but is usually between 20 and 30 years of age physically. The actual age of the person does not matter. This version also has some other benefits. As stated, the effects will filter down through the parents DNA to each successive generation, endowing all of the subjects descendants with the same benefits.
Additionally, the drug, which is actually a very specialized engineered virus, will perminantly balance the subjects metabolism. The body will no longer produce more fat cells than it needs no matter how much the subject eats. The body's immune system will become much stronger and will be able to defend against new and unfamiliar viri and bacteria, much more quickly. Muscle tone will improve without the need for exercise. In short, it will render the individual clinically immortal. The subject would now only be able to die of accident, injury or extreme medical conditions. Also the women of our new home will appreciate one additional benefit. Their normal monthly cycles will no longer be nearly as severe and will primarily consist of a minor headache. There is one minor side effect to taking this drug. about 8 hours after taking it, the subject will begin to feel flu like symptoms which will last for an average of 2 days and will spend most of their time sleeping as their DNA is rewritten.
Our Foreign and Health Ministries will work together to decide which nations can safely be entrusted with these drugs. We will not impart them to nations which are guilty of war crimes, or who simply aren't responsible enough to be trusted with eternal life.
All medications will be manufactured within our nation and hand delivered and administered by our personnel to those who will receive the treatment.
Final say on just who will receive treatment from those nations we approve will firstly be determined by that nations government then individually by each individual. The treatment will not be forced upon anyone.
2. This second decision is difficult as well. With the administration of Anagathics, the worlds population will quickly begin to mushroom. As a result, overpopulation could be a major problem. In our early history, we had a similar dilemma. However, necessity being the mother of invention, the potential danger spurred us on to develop many of the interstellar travel technologies we have today. Nations wishing the anagathics will also be offered some of those technologies as well as star data we accumulated on our journey to this world. There are many worlds capable of being colonized with a minimum of effort out there. This is a suggestion, but early on, we only gave the anagathics to three groups of people, those serving in the military, those who performed critical job functions and could not be replaced, and those who volunteered to colonize other worlds. We found the Anagathics to be a very major part of the incentive packages offered to would be colonists.
Our engineers will teach those of other approved nations the various apspects of interstellar travel. Everything will be covered but here is a partial list.
Propulsion technology (Probably particle wave drives to start)
Temporal and Domensional Stabiization. (To keep yoou from slipping in and out of time portals at speeds past light speed)
Polarized energy shields (To keep you from becoming swiss cheese from interstellar debris)
Hyperlight Communications (So you can call for help if yoru screens fail and you have been turned into swiss cheese)
Interstellar Doppler Navigation systems (So you know where you are)
Particle Weapon Technologies (So you can turn any large navigational hazard into swiss cheese)
Hydroponice and on board animal husbandry (So you can make lettuce and swiss cheese)
Materials Sciences (Needed for hull and structural construction)
Basic Spaceframe Design and Construction (See above)
There will probably be many more classes added to the list as time goes on but you get the idea.
We will not be providing raw materials for these projects, but we will help on a consulting basis for any problems encountered which were not addressed in the courses.
Note that the technologies we will be giving you will be enough to construct hyperlight interstellar cabaple ships with a maximum speed of about 500C or 500 times the speed of light. This should be sufficient to allow your new ships to reach the closest of inhabitable worlds in a minimum of one month. We will nto be giving out technologies such as our Dimensional Space Time Resonance Drive. Nations on this world simply do not yet have the base technologies to eve experiment with these technologies safely. During it's development, over 100 dead worlds which were being used as experimental stations, were totally destroyed with not so much as a proton left to mark their passing. When the time is right to share those technologies, we will consider it, under close supervision and on a dead world far from here.
ALso initially, we will assign one or two of our military craft to escort the first few flights made by other nations, in order to make sure that the crew can safely be rescued in case of an emergency. I would also like to suggest that before launching any craft you may build with these technologies, that you allow our engineering services personnel to perform a thorough inspection.
I hope I am making the right decisions here. Our people will be placing a great deal of trust in those nations we assist. We sincerely hope that that trust will be justified.:p
