Newly published books from Ariddia:
The First Diaspora, volume six: Due North
by: Stéphanie Dargile
Originally published in the Wymgani language, volume 6 of The First Diaspora is now available in English. Volume 7, Return to the Unknown, has been published in Wymgani but not yet translated.
The First Diaspora is a series of eight novels (sometimes called The Diaspora Octology), works of fiction grounded in detailed historical study. Each novel focuses on one or more fictitious Indigenous Ariddians living in a key era of exploration and migration in Ariddia's pre-colonial history (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/History_of_Ariddia), and spans one individual lifetime. These characters often interact with real historical characters. Volume 1 (Newborn) deals with the arrival of the first Pacific Islander settlers in the Ariddian Isles three thousand years ago. Volume 2 (Once More Unto the Seas) looks at the Wymgani's first discovery and exploration of continental Uhuhland, about a thousand years later. Volume 3 (Speck Beyond the Horizon) is about the colonisation of the island of Lwellsl, a century after that. Volume 4 (An Impossible Voyage) will consider a Wymgani journey to Antarctica in the early fourteenth century, and is expected to offer arguments supporting the view that this journey did indeed take place. Volume 5 (Strange New World) will focus on a fictitious companion of arguably Ariddia's greatest explorer, Wa We (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Wa_We) (14th century). Volume 6 is about the Wymgani voyage to the (future) Ariddian Arctic Islands (fifteenth century). Volume 7 (Return to the Unknown) deals with renewed Wymgani settlements in continental Uhuhland in the early 17th century. Finally, volume 8 (Home Beyond the Waves, currently being written) will be about diasporic Wymgani today.
Like most works of historical fiction, this octology is considered to be of great historical accuracy, and a ressource for students of Ariddian history, as well as being a fascinating and well-written work of fiction.
Stéphanie Dargile is a Professor of Foreign Literature at the University of Rêvane (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/University_of_R%C3%AAvane), and is an Indigenous Ariddian.
Il voulè bén suhl
by: Chal Uolo
There are relatively few books published in Lank Jan (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Lank_Jan), a pidgin Indigenous Ariddian language derived from French, and spoken only on the island of Se'asho. Il voulè bén suhl is a book for children, an effort to promote literacy in (and general usage of) Lank Jan among children within this linguistic community. The book links culture to language, developing a story derived from ancestral Wymgani tales: the story of a man who questioned community values and believed (mistakenly) that he would be better off living in isolation, relying on no-one and without anyone relying on him. Local authorities have helped distribute this book widely around the island, hoping to encourage children to read in Lank Jan.
Every Citizen is a Man
21-03-2007, 19:12

The first book ever published in Every Citizen is a Man, the legacy of the Men's entry into the only sexist sporting event in the world proved the supremecy of the citizen's ideals, not only hosting, but reaching the finals of the tournament which the women use to preach their sexist beliefs in a direct attempt to draw glory from the globally harmonizing and sexual accepting NationStates World Cup. The book, not released in the country, has been shipped to distributers worldwide to spread the knowledge of the nation and the travesty that is the Womens World Cup for all to see.

Unfortunately, the Nation of Ariddia purchased every copy produced and locked it away in their national vaults, not wishing for any other nations to have a leg up on them in the race to create new topics.

Two rather absurdist books published recently are:
2007, by David Parne
A narrative from the perspective of a time-traveller from the year 2007 (the current year being 1495) attempting to convince authorities of an impending dystopica, with the desired effect being the enaction of enough change to eradicate the future that the narrator came from. It is presumably a novel, but Parne is unavailable for comment.
Horizontal Asymptote, by Kate Travers
A young-adult novel detailing a high school math team historically second place to the same rivals in their division. In the first season after their longtime coach's retirement, they have the chance to finally take first, but the prodigies that lead the team guess that the former coach would be devastated if he could have led them to victory by sticking it out for one more year. A comic attempt to throw the final meet of the season follows, meeting opposition from the senior captain who wants to win in her last chance.
SPOILER:
They are able to slide into second, but the captain finds out that the first place team had actually cheated to win, and is faced with the dilemma of whether or not to tell her teammates. The book ends on said cliffhanger.

The Village Bike and the World Cup 33 by Wastle Wastle
A summary of the World Cup 33 and the capers of Dazza Dallas during the World Cup 33. Dazza fans will be happy there are some rude photos of Dazza in this book. A perfect gift for the football fan, male ones that is. Also includes the happenings in Az-cz and a lot of Bettian coverage as well as tragedy of Nedalian team.
Dazza's guide to dating by Dazza Dallas
If you're a single woman, this is the book for you. The Village Bike knows all the tricks to get any single woman get that man you want. It's not for the women who wants to the simple things - it covers the basics and the stuff most Christian women want to keep away from. So, if you are single woman - get it. It is an extreme book with some things many women will not do but this is Dazza book. Dazza has tips for couples for keeping the sex life alive too, so couples can use it.
How to be a man by Manfred Mann the Man
Yes, if you're a man - or want to pretend to be one, don't buy this book. The biggest macho tripe I've ever read. Manfred wants his women barefoot in the kitchen and the right to beat his wife. If you are macho, then this is your book but honestly this book should be named "I'm a macho pig". For those who hate women, this is the book for you. I prefer a Dazza book anytime. I'm a male but I don't know what this manning yourself means - I hope it does not mean what I think it means.
