Five billion dead in Space-faring Accident
Alabamian Survivors

Nearly 5 billion people have died in the largest space-faring accident known to man.
Foxtrot news reporting. In a trajedy of unprecidented proportions, only the Alabama colony, a few spaceyards, and the off-world colonies of Crazed Marines have been spared. Early reports indicate a quantum singularity forming inside the colonies and the ship hyper-colliding with the Iwo Jima colony, destroying the others in the resulting explosion. With the orbital Stargate destroyed as well, chaos is bound to run rampant in the outer colonies. It is not known if humanitarian aid will come or not. More to report when it comes in.

As far as I can gather, your nation timed out due to inactivity. You can submit a Getting Help Page (http://www.nationstates.net/71262/page=help) request to have it resurrected if you want to.

OOC: My first country (Crazed Marines) did time out, but I received a 3-day forum ban that would not lift even after 3 months so I'm just started anew. I might later rez CM but I will probably just use this account for a while to fill in some RPs.

Huh. Let me check that for you; if I recall correctly there was some trouble with forumbans not lifting automatically at one point.

Hawking Astronomical Monitoring Station: Outer Edge Paradise System.
A massive flash of light occurs on one of the monitoring station screens. Ahmed Ohyes spills his coffee and blinks several times.
Self replicating von neumann probe in sector five, six, and seven have gone dead.
Ahmed rubs his eyes. And tries to get several napkins to wipe the coffee which has spilled on his tunic.
Ahmed, "What was that."
Artificial station intelligence, 007, "We have confirmed a singularity event on a massive scale, we believe this may lead to the formation of a white hole. There are not likely to be any survivors. Station dispatching hyperspace jump probes for further evaluation."

OOC:Thanks Tsar. I owe you one.
IC:
The Alabamian colony limped forward to New Exodus for repairs. Without those repairs, life support would be lost within three days. Something, however, was wrong. New Exodus was not where it was supposed to be, and the docks that survived weren't capable of handling the repairs. An emergency distress signal was sent out to all allies, but almost all were months away...too far to do anything but pick the bones clean.

What looked like several cylinders exited hyperspace near the singularity event. They were scientific exploration drones covered with instrument packages. They were there to observe the massive explosion. This could lead to advances in the science of the Commonalitarianism. A chance to observe a singularity event was a very rare occassion. It could lead to advances in the physical sciences and astronomical research that would mean breakthroughs in technology for the Commonalitarianism.
The drones were equipped with a very advanced communication suite, something called a "Bell Quantum Tunneling Ansible" that worked on theories of simultaneity in particular spin irregardless of distance.
They hadn't expected to receive a distress call of any kind. The event looked like it had completely destroyed any civilization that might have been there. When they started receiving signals from a human colony, they routed them to the scout service, a primarily deep space exploration service. They were not equipped for rescue missions or long distance cargo supplies, but they had ships that could travel long distances very quickly. They might be able to offer a minimal amount of help.

The Outer Colonies were in disarray. Outside raiders had hit many. Reach and Sigma Octagnus were untouched though. Their large sizes and heavy military presence kept them mostly intact. A rescue party was sent but it would take at least a week to reach the SOL system.
