The European Islands greet you!

Greetings! I am the official ambassador for the Disputed Territories of the European Islands. Our goal? To unite the smaller, weaker nations in Northern Europe to form one large and powerful union! This idea was formed when diplomats from several different countries met and agreed that they should combine for their own safety. We have just recently been formed, and unfortunately, some of the nations don't agree with our ideas, so some of our territories are disputed. But we have not given up hope that someday we will become a fully functioning nation!

We look forward to becoming a part of the United Nations, and having a say in the future of our world. If any European countries need assistance in war or political situations, do not be afraid to telegram us and ask for help! I admit we are a bit...unorganized at the moment, but that will not stop us from helping a friend in need!

We would like to ask, what does your nation stand for? Also, we suggest you stay out of the united nations, as they are a threat to national sovereignty, and simply cannot be trusted.

We stand for the unity of mankind. We believe that all nations can overcome their differences to unite one day. Are voting is also compulsory, so that all people will have a chance to voice their opinions.

This makes little sense. If your intent is to give everyone the ability to express their opinions, simply allowing voting is enough to that end - forcing people to vote, on the other hand, may well lead to some less-than-desirable consequences wherein people begin to resent your forcing of them to "pick a side", to use the vernacular.

Yes, but as one of our advisors pointed out, some groups tend to vote more often than others, making it uneven. Besides, some potential voters may forget to vote or not be able to reach the polls in time.

There has to be a reason for the groups that vote less-often to do so, though. Rather than attempting to enforce such an idiotic policy, why not pour your tax ducats into finding out why this occurs.

That is an interesting idea, but unfortunately, as I have mentioned before, there is much distress in our land at the moment. Some of the countries that have joined our union have people in their lands that insist on remaining individual nations. We have also donated much of our copper coins into Law and Order to preserve peace in our country.

Perhaps once these issues have been resolved, we'll take your advice, but for now, compulsory voting seems like the best option.

Yes, but if you force evryone to vote, the people who would normally not vote, as they have no opinion on the situation, would select the person they vote for merely by the roll of a die. I'm not sure that's very representave, as to me, it just means the leader is chosen by lottery. That cannot mean the nation will go well.

But how can someone not have an opinion on the leader of their country? Our people are fiercely patriotic, and according to statistics we have collected, over half of them in the elections.

Yes, there are people who do not care about how their country is run. We are also sure that not all of your citizens are fiercely patriotic, as it is impossible to have everyone in a country thinking the same way. Also, a high voter turnout does not mean no "donkey votes".
