The Premise:
A war between dark and light is being waged in the shadows of the bustling midwest metropolis, New Salem (fictional). Unknown to the general populus demons, vampires, necromancers, and werewolves are very real and infiltrate every aspect of life, including the local government, religious institutions, mafia, and police. Using humans as pawns, these monsters are slowly but surely pulling New Salem into darkness, creating a hell on Earth. Thankfully, a secret branch of the Catholic Church- working with a collection of other religious groups- has stepped in to counter the growing demonic threat. Under the leadership of the brilliant, though ruthless, Cardinal DeGrasse, these defenders of light fight to keep the presence of the dark invaders a secret.
Ok so thats the basic idea...Now for where you fit in...
Each RPer can play both a badguy and a goodguy, and note that the good guys need not be Catholic, or Christian, or particularly religious at all. Likewise, baddies need not always be demonic in the popular Christian understanding.
Its pretty open ended, be creative in character creation.
Goodguys:
Name: Andre Cardinal DeGrasse
Age: 52
Nationality: French
Appearance: Tall, slender with grey hair down to his shoulders and a sharp pointed beard with bright blue eyes. He wears the traditional black cassock with a scarlet waist band.
Abilities: Ability to repulse and/or destroy the undead or demonic based on the depth of his faith
Bio:
DeGrasse has held his post as the Prefect of the secret Catholic sect the 'Knights of White Fire,' for over fifteen years. He is devout, strict Catholic who, unlike many members of his organization, has managed not to become a fanatic. He is respected by non-Catholics, but is usually veiwed as arrogant by those who know about the demonic threat and have not joined the Roman Church. With his sharp mind and almost ruthless pragmatism, he is a serious threat to the followers of darkness.
'Knights of the White Fire'
Headquarters: Our Lady of Serenity Cathedral Rectory (an old apartment building next the the Church)
Details: The Rectory has a secret basement with living quarters, library, chapel, and an armory for those who fight the supernatural threat.
The Knights of the White Fire employs not only Catholic clergy and faithful lay people equipt to fight demons, but also those of different religious denominations and rogues, mercenaries, and mages with a vendetta against the undead.
Heroes do not need to know about the supernatural at first, though some should. If they do know about demons, they need not be part of the organization run by the Church- they could be freelancers or rogues or mercs...
Religious figures (priests, rabbis, ministers, ect)
Mages (be creative)
normal humans (guns and shtuff)
Badguys:
Name: Legion
Aliases: Alex Krane; many names with the initials AK.
Age: ancient
Race: Demon, shapeshifter
Appearance:
Usually appears as a handsome, tall, slender, pale man with dark hair and shining grey eyes wearing a silk white suit and black tie. His most common non human forms are snakes, a raven, or a giant centipede.
Abilities: Shapeshifting, tele/pyro- kenesis (very powerful)
Bio:
Once cast into a herd of pigs by Christ Himself, Legion is a powerful agent of darkness. Cunning, seductive, and wildly insane, Legion has only recently appeared in New Salem, and though he has seized control of most of the demonic factions and Vampire Houses, his intentions are unclear...
Baddies could be corrupted or crazy humans, evil sorcerers, vampires, lesser demons in human clothing, or other agents of the dark side. they are all on the same side, though they may not like each other.
Dark Alliance
Headquarters: Hotel Nero, Uptown New Salem
Details: a luxury hotel known for its celebrity guests, Hotel Nero's top floor is a demonic equivalent of the Rectory's basement...except it is much more modern.
Badguys can be really whatever you'd like them to be, provided you dont god mod.
Sorry for this intro being so muddled, its been a long time since Ive RPed so cut me some slack. Also, all suggestions and ideas for this RP are welcome, nothing is really set in stone. All i ask is that you use common sense when making your char, pls dont be god moddish.
Sounds interesting.

King Arthur the Great

Good to see an old face OA. Consider King A in!!
Now let's see, what can we do this time around:
Name: Vincent Fabrizio
Age: 35
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 180 lbs
Eyes: yellow
Hair: short black hair
Occupation: Game Warden
Classification: Lycanthropic Werewolf, a born shapeshifter that can assume one of five forms at will. Fully human, Feral human, Man-Wolf Warskin, Wolf/Hound, and Full wolf.
Strengths: Stronger and faster than the normal human even in full human form, posses keen sense of smell and hearing once in feral human skin, and a high regenerative factor in the warskin only.
Weaknesses: Wolfsbane poison, silver stakes/mercury, highly aggressive in warskin to the point of loss of any self-restraint.
Notes on the three intermediary shapes: The feral human skin could pass for a normal human, but generally has more pointed teeth, yellow eyes, longer and sharper nails, and in males, scraggy facial hair. The Wolf/Hound skin is a slightly deformed wolf that maintains the eye color of the human, and has a somewhat reduced snout, as well as larger upper body, that betrays the human within the otherwise normal wolf. The Warskin is a 7-foot tall, humanoid creature with a wolf's head and long arms, capable of traversing and fighting as both a human and a wolf thanks to a pelvis that allows the joints to slide. In this form, the ability to lose control comes quickly.
Bio: born to a family of Italian werewolves, Vincent left New York seeking riper hunting grounds since his father showed no signs of dying within the next century. Coming to New Salem, he found himself one of the relatively few werewolves in the area, and set himself up in one of the more stable parts of town. When two pairs of brothers moved too close to his territory, he approached both and told them to back off or fight. The stronger pair chose to fight, but Vincent killed them. The other set of brothers decided not to take their chances, and submitted to him, making him their alpha. Since then, his pack has grown to about ten werewolves, taking the area of New Salem that includes part of the commercial district at one end, to the abrupt wilderness just outside the city where some of the wolves lodge.

Never mind, didn't fully read first post, here's my good guy:
Name: Desmond Bayne
Age: 25
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 205 lbs.
Eyes: Grey
Hair: medium reddish-brown
Occupation: Business Consultant
Classification: Magus, member of the Order of the Cloak.
Strengths: strong magic user, certain spells and rites have imparted flight and very slightly increased levels of physical performance
Weaknesses: Mortal human, must recast healing wards within one day of sustaining injuries. This is long and laborious, tending to require bedrest, and is only useful if he isn't already dead.
Bio: Desmond comes from a line of Cloak bearers, descended from one of the original men that received a quarter of Christ's cloak at the Crucifixion. As such, he is a natural mage, though he is not above utilizing spell books for direction, experimentation, and research. He was born in New York, and his father is currently one of the four guardians, placing Desmond next in line to take one of the seats of the council.
Desmond grew up in as normal a childhood as one can have in New York, and went through school with good grades, eventually earning an MBA and working as consultant for firms in need of serious overhaul or solutions to impending crises. Desmond came to New Salem, under pretense, to open a firm for a city that was drawing in new companies. In reality, Desmond's father, an old friend of DeGrasse, sent him to assist what DeGrasse described as an "urgent problem."
Interested, will have to think about character thought.

Great to see you guys again. KAG, I assume your werewolf is a badguy, correct? Or, on the badguy's team at least... Id love it if you had a good character too
Any objection to a nominal bad guy working with a nominal good guy?

Right: Werewolf=really bad dude. Selfish powerplayer that would see a chance to be a certain demon's "best friend" as a golden opportunity.
Oh, and the good guy is up, the son of one of DeGrasse's old colleagues.
Old Atlantia
28-02-2007, 03:07
Nice characters, KAG. Accepted. Id like to see some tension between the mage and the clergy, since they approach the supernatural from two different angles... and mages would be veiwed as easily corrupted by the clergy, whether or not that's true.
King Arthur the Great
28-02-2007, 03:16
I guess, though Bayne is a practicing Catholic. His father owns one fourth of the the cloak of Jesus, and Desmond is essentially the next in line to get it. Much of the magic he works stems from willpower and certain ancient Christian practices that the Church forbade in hopes of not leaking out powerful tools to their enemies. Still, I can work a pretty large sense of honor and slightly reduced sense of diplomacy when it comes to dealing with DeGrasse's secretaries.

EDIT: Instead of reposting, I decided to edit this post.
My idea for a character. Picture made using Heromachine (http://www.ugo.com/channels/comics/heroMachine2/heromachine2.asp).
Name: Kendrick
Age: Mid-30s
Race: Human
Appearance: Picture (http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w75/kalathash/kendrick.jpg)
Abilities:
- Skilled gunfighter & martial artist
- Mild psionic powers. His telekinetic and telepathic abilities are usually too weak to be of any use but his precognition often allows him to sense a person's actions a second or two in advance, which proves very useful in fights.
Bio:
A quiet, serious man, Kendrick operates as a freelance assassin. Is willing to take any job, provided that the money is good and he isn't required to do anything other than assassinate the target.
Has been aware of the existence of dark powers and monstrous creatures in the world for some time, but has yet to side with or against them.
Always carries two semi-automatic pistols on his person.

'Twas the idea. Since he is already a heartless assassin, he will be more easily persuaded by the demonic side.

28-02-2007, 03:45
sounds good to me....the more evil the better
Name: Mandy Grant
Age: 20
Race: Human
Appearance: Average height, under clothes highly muscular, pale skin, black hair worn in emo fashion(in fact generally emo appearence save for lack of piercings), dark blue eyes.
Abilities: Encyclopedic knowledge of supernatural, photographic memory/perfect recall, higher levels of skill(strength/speed/ect) than most trained people but still only human, ruthless.
Bio: Born amongst a family that combated the nether creatures and powers and was quickly viewed as a prodigy. At the age of sixteen, she returned from her first solo mission to find that a coalition had taken the opportunity to hunt down and butcher her family. After returning the favour she sought the last one which lead her to Akira believing that he was the one she was after. Finding that he wasn't, she agree to work with(use) him to find the one she was after.
Rating: 45-51
Name: Akira Ayrae
Age: 200(vampiric), 20(human), 220(total).
Race: Vampire
Appearance: Slightly above average height, average build, grey eyes, fairly light red-brown hair, moderately tanned.
Abilities: Standard vampiric traits(magnified quite a bit) with a decrease on many of the traditional weaknesses. The sun will still burn but with proper preparations can be tolerated for periods for example.
Bio: By vampiric standards Akira is an infant with powers beyond his years. His sire was one of the earliest generations and thus the blood that flows throught Akira is remarkably potent compared to even his seniors. Over the two hundred years of his vampiric existance, he has amassed considerable political and financial capital. He doesn't talk about his motivations or early years as a vampire but it is believed that his sire revealed something of the future that guides him.
Rating: 49-55
Rating is general good/evilness, one being angel, one hundred being demon and the average human falling into the twenty to fourty level.

Looks fun. I'd like to join, but the vampires I RP are kinda odd. When I initially created my nation, I wanted to be able to use them on not just fantasy threads, so I had to somehow make them functioning biological organisms. So they're a bit less scary in some ways (moreso in others) than the traditional strigoi vamps. I'd also like to RP my character being a sort of "free agent" at the beginning.
Old Atlantia
28-02-2007, 21:49
Well, Id rather the vamps in this RP be demonic or supernatural in origin... and they'd certainly be evil- whether or not they were out for themselves or working under Legion. Feel free to jump in though, Id be glad to have you on board...
Callisdrun
28-02-2007, 23:23
I kinda prefer RPing my CDian moroii, who would logically be kinda in the middle at first, since most of them would regard both human attempts to eradicate vampires and vampiric attempts to make humans into chattel to be evil, as moroii make up about 15% of CD's population and are largely integrated with the rest of society, and are not inherently evil more than others really, though in foreign lands circumstances often force them into that percieved role. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't participate in this, since I guess humans = good and vamps = evil is a bit black and white for me. I think it's just ever since AV4 and TSE3 ended, I've been wanting to be in another vamp RP.
Old Atlantia
28-02-2007, 23:30
Well, this isnt taking place really in the NationStates world but in a version of our own. New Salem is a (fictional) American city in the midwest. I think it would be out of place in this rp to incorporate a nation of vampires. However, i would be fine with third party Vamps (and they could be different in terms of powers and stuff from regular vamps, but still supernatural)... perhaps a clan or House that refuses to join with Legion but cant, for obvious reasons, join the humans?
It might be a good idea to make New Salem a city in an alt-form of one of our nations as the mods have been starting to go after rp that are not based in/related to the NSverse.
Callisdrun
01-03-2007, 01:18
Well, CD isn't a nation of vampires so much as a nation with them. They're by no means the rulers. I dunno. Whatever I guess.
King Arthur the Great
01-03-2007, 01:59
OK, so then make up some characters that aren't your CD vampires, but rather go along the lines of Stoker and the classic strigoi. Not everything has to include your CDian characters.

Name: James Heward (pronounced hew-ard, not he-ward)
Age: 22
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 212 lbs.
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Dark Brown
Appearance: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h297/Aenimus/OfficerHeward.gif
Occupation: Police officer.
Classification: Human
Strengths: Marksman, decent hand-to-hand skills, able detective
Weaknesses: Mortal. No magical talents. Has above-average, but still human limits to his stamina and ability to take punishment.
Bio: Heward comes from a long line of police officers, most of them serving with the NYPD. He was destined to be a cop, and he loves his job. He was born and served 2 years in New York, but was recently transferred to New Salem after the PD needed to replenish its roster, because of the deaths of several officers.
Heward has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a specialty in mythology - a subject that has always fascinated him. James fits in well in his new home, and has made friends with the other officers of his department. In his free time, he researches the mythology of New Salem's inhabitants at the library, and plays ice hockey on a local team.

Alright, accepted. Though Id like a bit more back ground.
These bios are NPCs that can be controlled by me at first, and eventually by everyone and are meant to help draw different characters into the story. Feel free to make up useful NPCs if youd like.
Badguys
Name: Special Agent Carson Creedy
Age:46
Race: Human
Appearance: Brown hair, sallow skin, dark eyes. Sloppily dressed in cheap suits and cheaper ties. A chainsmoker, Creedy is known for his nasty, yellow teeth.
Occupation: FBI agent, corrupt, working for Legion to help cover up demonic activities and murders
Bio:
Creedy's occupation says it all.
Name: Rev. Victor "Sunrise" Reynolds
Age: 50
Race: Human
Appearance: Well dressed, blond hair in a pony tail, tall and thin. Attractive, thanks to extensive plastic surgery.
Occupation: A televangelist with an almost cult following among many of New Salem's fundamentalists, who ignore rumors of his mob connections, drug abuse, and various affairs. Reynolds is in fact in league with Legion, who makes sure he is well supplied with cocaine and mistresses.
Goodguys:
Father Richard Sullivan
Age: 60
Race: Human
Appearance: Grey haired, wrinkled, with a ruddy, alcoholic complexion and sharp green eyes. Wears a battered brown trench coat and a normal priests outfit underneath
Occupation: Excorcist
Bio:
A demon hunter who has seen, and stood against, the full depth of evil, Fr Sullivan is a cigar chomping, bitter alcoholic who is, however, an unparalleled exorcist. He and Cardinal DeGrasse have a solid, if tense, working relationship but Sullivan views the Cardinal as a snob and DeGrasse views Sullivan as an unbalanced drunk... both have a point.
Police Chief Patricia Ryan
Age: 42
Race: Human
Appearance: Cleancut, thin, with red hair and blue eyes. Usually wearing her police uniform
Occupation: Chief of New Salem Police Department (NSPD)
Bio:
One of the few uncorrupted officers on the NSPD, Patricia quickly ascended the ranks thanks to her flawless record and Cardinal DeGrasse's political manuverings. She discovered the existence of vampires as a young detective on a homicide case, and has been one of the Cardinal's chief allies ever since.

This still open? If so I got a character:
Name: Fang-Grinder
Age: Horribly Ancient
Height: 4'8 crouching, 6'2 standing
Weight: 300lbs
Eyes: Glowing Green
Hair: None
Appearance: http://www.bungie.net/images/Games/Myth/Gallery/ConceptArt/M2_Ghol.jpg
Occupation: None
Classification: Ghol
Strengths: Incredibly strong and fast, can climb like an ape and is quite skilled with his khopesh.
Weakness: Superstitious, animal-like mind
Bio:
During the age of Atlantis...
As the wicked Fallen Lords cast their malignant shadow unto the realms of free men, terror reigned the land! The armies of darkness pushed relentlessly westward, halted only by the valient fighting spirit of brave men! But even the most courageous of defenders might find their boldness lacking when confronted by such a hideous enemy! And of all the foul and profane fiends who served the Dark, few were feared and hated more than...
Fang-Grinder!
Dreaded Fang-Grinder, whose very name stuck fear into even those who rallied round him in battle! Called the "King of the Ghols" and "the Black Dog of the Hill Lands", he was the greatest and most terrible of his kind!
Vicious Fang-Grinder, whose fury proved the doom of countless heroes, and upon whose head was sworn many a solemn oath for revenge! But no matter how many blades were pledged towards his ruin, he remains a scourge to men everywhere!
Until at last tales spread through fearfull villages and rumors were whispered round lonely camptires that Fang-Grinder could not be slain by mortal man at all!
There were those who said that he was a creature born and blessed of the blackest sorcery, nursed on the blood of innocence defiled!
Other claimed he was but a phantom beast, the ghostly avenger of all Ghols slain in battle...
Who but with a glance...
Could freeze a man's soul!
It was a moonlit autumn night at the Battle of Grimace Point that Mauriac of Madrigal saw his fellow perish, fallen by Fang-Grinder. His warrior's vows forgotten, he fled in terror, such was his guilt and shame!
No one truely knows why Fang-Grinder spared Mauriac that night, though most western lore agrees that it was out of weariness from a long day's slaughter! Some chronicals, however, speak of a spark of mercy that may briefly flicker in even the blackest of hearts...
Soon Fang-Grinder and his underlings were on the move again, marauding as they went, perhaps summoned by one of their Fallen Lord masters!
As for Mauriac, lost and alone, he wandered the hill country for a time, an aimless rogue warrior, unable to come to terms with his disgraced honor.
He blamed himself for the death of his comrades, though there was little he might have done to aid them, inexperianced and outnumbered as he had been.
It is in the nature of Ghols to be savage and brutish, although they are not thought to be inherently evil in and of themselves, their allegiance to the Fallen due more to ignorance and sorcerous deception! But Fang-Grinder ruled as do all tyrants, through fear and brutality! It was well known that he feasted upon his victims, but few would scarcely guess that he was so depraved as to devour his own kind...
But his depravity knew no bounds...
In the end even his own cohorts abandoned him in miserable terror...
For they now know that truely none were saft from Fang-Grinder's insatiable lust for blood! As they fled he cursed their feeble hearts...
Reveling in his awesome hideousness, he gorged himself on his grisly repast, and from that day on he roamed in solitude, his monsterous atrocities unabated, his awful legend growing greater still!
And now we come to the tale of how Fang-Grinder, the infamous "King of the Ghols", met with his own grim demise as told in the Total Codex itself!
In those days as the war raged ever west-ward, old rivalries were forgotten and new alliances formed, and so it came to be that the fir'Bolg, renowned for their archery skills, came to stand with the newly formed legions against the Fallen Lords!
It was under gloomy skies that a troops of fir'Bolg marched east-ward on a mission through unknown lands...
A small band moved ahead of the main force, unaware that they were being watched by unfriendly eyes...
Fang-Grinder made short, bloody work of the four archer scouts...
But their comrades were not far behind, and their retribution was as sure and swift as their aim allowed!
At first he faced them, but their numbers proved far to great! Under a torrent of arrows he took flight!
Far into the night they pursued him, piercing him grievously on all sides!
Finally in a slimy bog did he elude them, but their wrath had taken it's toll, for he know that lest he soon reach his Fallen Lord masters his fate was sealed! From far away he heard their call, their dark sorcery beckoned with promises of rejuvination!
In a trance-like stupor he struggled through the swampy mire, many times before he had been wounded unto the brink of death, but he had been re-stored, his power and malice exalted!
But this such time was not to be, for between him and his masters now stood Mauriac of Madrigal! And at long last the evil fortunes that had so vehemently smiled upon dread Fang-Grinder now turned away. Fierce to the last, he fought viciously and very nearly prevailed, but his doom was at hand!
For it was a mixture of his weakness from his many arrow wounds and the courage of Mauriac that thwarted him. Such was Fang-Grinders's bane!
Thus did Mauriac of Madrigal regain his lost honor and for this deed his fame spread far and wide. As for Fang-Grinder, his skull and bones were much sought after by those that study and practive the black-arts, for it was said they held certain sorcerous prosperities.
And indeed they did. For Fang-Grinder had been brought back to life by a dark and arcane ritual that had taken place within the city. Deep within the sewers Fang-Grinder roams, leaving his caves to kill. Now New Salem hunts for a serial killer, when little do they know they should hunt for a monster...

Accepted, Zambistan. I dunno if the history really fits, but I can get over that. Interesting character...
The RP will start tonight
Zambistan, so basically he's a feral/animalistic/primitive killing machine?
Also, a fatal injury(for a human) will still kill(unlike a were/vamp which need to be practically torn apart to be killed using conventional methods)?
I can see so much fun in boom-boxes and high-powered strobe lights.

Age: Donovan appears 22. Soas'Atael is, in reality, much, much older.
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 233 lbs.
Appearance: Soas'Atael in human guise (http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h297/Aenimus/sid-vicious-nb.jpg)
The demon within (http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h297/Aenimus/thumb2.jpg)
Another picture of it (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c1/Hr1-chatterer.jpg)
Occupation: Gangster/Demon
Classification: Demon in human guise
Strengths: Incredibly strong, persuasive, absolutely ruthless
Weaknesses: Is arrogant, occasionally kills those that could be assets, has a continual thirst for suffering (both causing and recieving)
Bio: Soas'Atael has been around for millenia. According to legend, he was birthed by the savage torture and execution of a thousand druids in ancient Brittania. As such, he has always revelled in suffering and death. Soas'Atael came to New Salem in a quest to further his experiences.
Donovan Crowley led a troubled life. The victim of child abuse, raised in a working-class family, he always wanted to be a gangster. When he turned 14, he had his chance, and led a short career as a criminal. Crowley joined the Irish Mafia when he was 18, and became a well-known and respected soldier. However, when he was 22, he crossed paths with the newly-arrived Soas'Atael, and met his very slow, anguish-filled demise. Soas'Atael took the young man's perfectly flayed skin and the memories within the poor man's broken mind, and assumed his identity.

Zambistan, so basically he's a feral/animalistic/primitive killing machine?
Also, a fatal injury(for a human) will still kill(unlike a were/vamp which need to be practically torn apart to be killed using conventional methods)?
Yes, just like that. And he can only be killed one way, which I shall reveal later.

Interesting enough in its own right, I've been looking for other Modern Fantasy RPs which may allow magic but my problem is that my concept for my characters are frankly based on magic girls taken slightly more seriously but still in essense following many of the conventions (at least from some sources more then others). Basically any character I put forward is likely to be a girl barely in her teens with a magical alter-ego completely with appropriate dress and magical weapon... not the most subtle thing, thats for sure but generally they make some effort to hide their presence. From then on it's a high-magic affair balanced strongly by a strong sense of morality limiting exactly what they would do, where other characters in the RP are innately lethal any character I can put forward will do their best to win without causing serious harm if they can help it, which means damage resistant (read vampire and the like) could probably shrug it off alot better.
So not entirely sure, I'll have to read more into the thread and the see if there is any way I can actually justify involvement given the nature of my of my characters, thats assuming it isn't outright banned for being the over-the-top amusement they are for me.
There is room to tone down I suppose, older less powerful mages from Midchildia at least have more utility and sense, but they aren't as fun.
Edit: Hm... can add a badguy too, oddly that allows for something a little more reasonable I guess, though probably not worth it without the possibility of a goodguy.

Id like to keep the tone of this RP rather dark, and though we could use a sorceress i think if she was too over the top that it would be inappropriate. However, I'd love for you to join with a toned down, darker character.

Officer Ryan MacNelson
Age: 26
Race: Human
Appearance: Thin, tall, buzzed blond hair, blue eyes. Wears police uniform.
Occupation: Officer of the NSPD
Bio:
Heward's partner. Has been on the NSPD his entire career, is somewhat more experienced than James. He's a bit lazy when he can afford to be, but is still a competent and reliable officer. Is also reluctant to use flattery on his superiors, which is the main cause of his failure to rise through the ranks of the NSPD.

@Zambistan: I think it'd be good if you made a goodguy. perhaps a sorcerer or something- very cabalistic and pagan and anti-Christian-who has come to New Salem hunting the Ghol? He and DeGrasse- once they meet- could be sort of allied rivals, because of their veiwpoints. I like the idea that the ghol- and this goodguy if your decide to make him- are from a different dimension (not in a sci-fi sense), that somehow Legion summoned Fang from a different universe. This sorcerer could be a dimension traveler, hunting the last of the ghols? In reality, this wizard and DeGrasse would be serving the same God- since He created both realities- but simply have totally different conceptions of him and thus be rivals. Just the same as Legion and Fang serve the same Evil, though from two different perspectives.
Just a suggestion, think about it. I like your villain BTW...very depraved...very Lovecraftian.
Zambistan
04-03-2007, 00:06
Thanks. If you think he's depraved now, just wait until he starts his church.
Perhaps when the cult gets a little bigger, an age old foe could try to stop him. But I don't think he would be "good," but rather "indiffrent." He wants Fang-Grinder dead because the ghols could be try to awken Kthon. Thus another Great Old One could come day and aid in destroying him...by any means neccessary. What I'm trying to say is I want him to be beyond "good." Play the lovecraft card a little more. :)
Old Atlantia
04-03-2007, 00:14
Well, it's up to you about the second character, sounds good to me...though, I'd like you to try to adapt the lovecraftian stuff (w/o giving it up, at all) to the more traditional stuff thats going on in the rest of the RP a bit more (vampires, Christianity, demons, ect). I still think we should go with the dimension-traveler idea however...that would make Fang's history a bit more involved with Legion's scheme.
Zambistan
04-03-2007, 00:22
I do have one question. What if Fang and his cultists summoned a demon? Maybe Belial? Would that be ok?
Old Atlantia
04-03-2007, 01:01
Later in the RP. I think it would be cool if the summoning rite took a long time to complete, and needed humans to be "harvested" over the course of several weeks. The actual summoning should take place once the game really gets under way. Also, Legion is a pretty powerful demon himself...so he'd probly be aware of it and need to approve it.
Now if only DMG and Bastit will show, then it's a party.
I is here.

Villain I could do, (seeing as the one I've just done is surprisingly suitable) but it wouldn't fit what I'm looking for I think lacking my main concept and the reason I wanted to mess about with magic.
No worries. Got to look around and test the water. Thanks for entertaining the idea but the more I think about it the less appropraite my characters are.

Though I should know better then to advertise in other peoples threads, for what it's worth that thread is still in early days and I'm not closing it anytime soon... that said, it's really down to the individual as to whether they think they can fit themselves in, the thread is designed in such a way that it's surprisingly easy to start and frankly people seem to be posting close to once a week so I doubt it's going to be running off any time soon... but I won't go on about it at length in anothers thread, if you're interested still feel free to TG me and I can help with any issues you may have, otherwise it's entirely up to you, I know I don't like RPing in too many threads myself as it's hard enough to push myself to do stuff as it is.
To keep on topic; I like the idea of this thread and if I'd found it say three years ago when I was roleplaying similar story lines in Iuthia I would have jumped on it... but I'm in a wierd phase and wanted to play about with something silly and fun and as pointed out in a world of darkness like setting of the righteous fighting the damned behind the masquerade of everyday life, magic girls with bright flowing atire, flight and their magic powered by love really would harm the feel that the OP is looking for.

And yeah, this is MT Good v Evil
Name: Scarlett the Demoness
Aliases: Scar
Age: Since the Dawn of the Middle Ages
Race: Demoness
Appearance: Image (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/Scarlett.jpg)
Though she cannot change her appearance per se, she can make a few adjustments including making her horns disappear, enlargening her body, and adding an additional two arms. In normal shape and size she is roughly 5'6" and wears quite revealing clothing, though her fragile appearance is anything but a reality. On the back of her right shoulder blade there is a small red symbol of demonic nature.
Abilities: Slight morphing, Manipulation of Fire, Teleportation
Bio: A demon from the depths of the last circle of Hell, Scarlett is a deadly seductress with no compassion for the lesser races.
Name: Brother Tristram
Age: 33
Nationality: Italian
Appearance: Image (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/Cloak.jpg)
A powerful figure at 6'4" with a muscular frame. He remains in his cloak-habit at all times. His body is covered in religious tattoos from his neck down.
Abilities: Repulse the demonic with his faith, etc.
Bio: A monk of the church, he has long served God in more ways than one. Morality has long since been obscured in the name of divinity and he has no problem with collateral damage in his work. He serves the Church dutifully and takes orders from those in the upper echelons battling against the coming demonic uprising. Some might call him mad, others a fanatic, but he doles out divine justice without prejudice.

Name: Carl Arkan
True Name: Caerongorob
Age: Ancient
Appearance: In human form, has black hair combed back and barely oiled, has piercing green eyes, and a goatee. Tends to wear a black suit with a red tie.
Large, 6'3, medium muscular build, but much stronger than he looks due to the limitations of human build.
His demonic form is about ten feet, his back bristling with spikes and jaws of dagger-like teeth. Atop his head are a crown of horns.
Abilities: Money, Has own Mercenary force, gunslinger, illusionist, strong, hard to kill (demonic armor/aura tends to keep most bullets from penetrating)
Bio:
Carl has been around for a very long time, always springing onto the Mortal Realm every so often to wreck havoc and learn about the goings-on.
Thwarted most of the times, barring a few deadly wars and events that were somewhat bumped into action due to the meddling of Carl, he has finally manifested himself in this more modern age. Easily climbing the ranks of the business world due to his many teachings and past experiences, he amassed himself a fortune and bought many large estates and his own personal mercenary force that was meant to ignite a world war, however, should other matters give him more pleasure, he may use these mercenaries for those purposes...
How's that? Mind you, I'm a bit tired so there may be a few mistakes in there lol.

Is this suppose to be like the Dresden Files? If so I have an idea for a character….
Badguy
Name: Anton Corvinus
Aliases: Victor Van Garrett, Heinrich Stemberg, etc.
Race: Lich
Age: Medieval age
Appearance: His true form is a hideous mummified corpse dressed in wizardly robes and a black cloak and red glowing eyes. He however employs various illusion spells to conceal his form when out in public. He normally looks like a small scholarly man wearing a black business suit. He has green eyes and black hair that is normally slicked backed. He usually does not appear threatening but is much stronger than he looks.
Abilities: Anton can raise the dead into zombies, He can cast black energy orbs at his opponents. He has a wide knowledge of necromancy and is considered a master in these black arts. He is virtually impossible to destroy unless his Phylactery is destroyed. (His Soul Jar) He has money and can employ human mercenaries and assassins.
Affiliations: none (Anton is self employed, He styles himself as a business man and tries to avoid dealing with other magical creatures in new Salem. He is however thoroughly evil as he uses his zombie minions to achieve his own personal ends. He also has ties to various crime bosses in New Salem.)
Bio: Anton was born in Germany back in the days after the Holy Roman Empire started to collapse. He lived as a peasant in one of the many counties that spanned the area now known as Germany. He learned the dark arts of necromancy at the feet of corrupted wizard that saw potential in Anton. Anton learned everything he could from his teacher and left his farm and wandered across the lands of Germany learning more of the dark arts. He lived a very dark life dealing with the many demons and corrupted wizards and learned how to put a cork in death itself. He ritually bound his soul into a enchanted jar and now his body is impervious to death. (He can be destroyed but his body will magically reform within a three days upon the spot of death, unless his soul jar is destroyed.)
Anton for several centuries grew tired of wandering the lands and purchased an estate in Germany around 1852 and began to isolate himself from the dark forces in Germany. He started various businesses and made his own private multi-million dollar corporation called Lichencrest Industries around 1922. His company has branched out to other countries making Anton very wealthy and powerful. He has moved to New Salem to “retire” from public life and to expand his ties into the shady crime underworld of New Salem…
Goodguy:
Name: Don Vincent Cappaletti
Age: 35
Race: Human
Nationality: Italian/Sicilian
Occupation: Don of the Maggolzetti Family
Abilities: Head of a crime family, skilled with a garrote and handgun. He has money and employs various criminals to do his bidding for the good of the neighborhood.
Affiliations: The Maggolzetti Crime Family, The Catholic Church.
Bio: Don Vincent Cappaletti is a powerful crime boss located in New Salem. He has been actively resisting Anton’s attempts to takeover his family affairs. He has ties to the catholic church and is a deeply religious man. He believes in protecting his neighborhood and provides his special protection against the various evil elements that would seek to prey on his charges. His family is rumored to be involved in various crimes from extortion, armed robbery, union racketeering and loan sharking.

I figure Don Vincent Cappaletti would know about DeGrasse and to avoid suspicion from his many enemies he could probably meet DeGrasse in confession and the two could work in private from there.
Anton will probably living in some expensive mansion on the outskirts of town with his private entourage of zombies and human security personal. He will probably work with other dark powers via human representatives and he may send his personal assistant to meet various crime figures and thugs to ensure his control over the criminal underworld of New Salem.

It seems to me that Hansia's characters seem to step a bit out of form. A rich demon with an "army" of ghouls, zombies, etc. that is attempting to take over a mafia head's family? @Hansia: DMG has a point. It's okay if your lich has relatively weak henchmen, but an army is a bit much. As long as this background stuff is more creative than godmoddish its okay. Also, your character would eventually have to submit to Legion, the head badguy
As for the mafia boss, two points:
DeGrasse is rather pragmatic, and would see the mob as the lesser of too evils. But Ive also made it clear that he does not condone the crimeboss, or like him...

Character Name: Joseph Winter
Race: Human
Class: Soldier (Left Service)
Heigth: 6'1''
Eyes: Blue
Hair: White
Nationality: American (Parents were English Immigrants.)
Weapons: M-4 Carbine, Franchi SPAS-12 Shotgun
Bio:
Jospeh Winter is a former United States Marine. He grew up in New Salem, and odd occurances we're dialy for him. Not much scares him. He went to West Point after high School, was promoted to First Liuetenent upon graduation and earned the rank of captain in combat. He left the service upon news of his parents death. What struck him as odd was, although the medical report stated natural cuases, the doctor informed him that his parents were drained of their blood, possibly by a serial killer that had been stalking the city. Two weeks after his parents death, he recived a notification from the United States military, his actions had put a significant dent in a terroist faction in the Middle East, and he was now a war hero. Two days later he was apporoached by two people. On was a man named Anderson Keller, he kept to the shadows when he talked to Winter. Another was some priest, representing the "Knights of the White fire" Not wanting to be caught up in anything at the momnet, he declined both offers, but stated that he will get back to them. Now, more and more people are dissapering off the streets. Both representatives apporoached him again and told him that time was running out. Two hours later, screams were heard in his neighbours house. He grabbed hs shotgun and dashed over. What he saw disturbed him, a person, mora like a wraith, stood perched over the corpse, suking blood from a neckwound. Not taking any chances, Joseph fired his shot gun at point blank. The thing merly turned towards him and hissed. And so began the mad dash to the "Knights of White Fire"

I don’t see a problem with a Lich disguised as wealthy businessmen having a small entourage of human guards protecting his personal estate. He would not have his zombies shambling around the grounds. They would most likely be hidden inside his home guarding the inside of his estate. The daily devilry will not be done by Anton personally he would rely more on his henchmen (most likely human) to do his dirty work. Anton goals for controlling organized crime is rather simple, Anton is very greedy and power hungry. He is always trying to find ways to increase his personal power. This is just a way to increase his influence and power. I mean when you are an undead monster living for centuries, life can get very boring without some distraction to keep you busy….
As for the crime boss and church alliance. I don’t see any problem with that at all, I mean the mob and the church have always been considered rather tight nit in Sicily. It was one of the primary reason why my character is a Sicilian. It means he will be more religious in his personal background..
@Hansia: DMG has a point. It's okay if your lich has relatively weak henchmen, but an army is a bit much. As long as this background stuff is more creative than godmoddish its okay. Also, your character would eventually have to submit to Legion, the head badguy

I never said, that Anton had an army of henchmen more like an entourage of 20-30 zombies/humans. As for the submitting to Legion. Anton despite his greedy and hedonistic nature is also very frightened of passing on to the next world. If he believes that Legion can destroy him permanently . Anton will quickly submit to his will…
Vincent is a religious man but his morals are a little crossed and he will not hesitate to kill his enemies in cold blood. Vincent is also a little nervous about his time of judgment so to speak. This will make him more willing to work with DeGrasse but that does not mean he will take being insulted lightly. He has a reputation to maintain in order to stay the head of his crime family.

Yes, I will need your characters for the introduction post. I plan to have Anton and Don Vincent meet each other for a sit down. The peace meeting is going to fail and the two sides are going to have to fight it out. This will mean that both sides are going to take fatalities and that is something Anton is looking forward to....
Vincent is going to need help in defeating Anton's undead servants and thus he will ask Cardinal DeGrasse for help in his fight against the undead scourge and Anton’s necromantic activities may draw Legion's attention or one of his underlings..

Don't matter to me. How ever a demon is summoned from another realm/underworld.
Obviously not a phone call - something mystical.

"To the wondrous toilet of the netherworld!" says DMG's demoness (don't remember her name).
*Flush Flush Flush*
Carl and Alex stand by, plungers in hand.
"She's coming! Get her!" *starts plundgering(??) away*
lol, I don't remember her name either...
Oh wait - it just hit me: Scarlett
Seductive Scarlett...

lol
I knew a few Scarlettes. One that got a bit more closer than the others was a real small asian girl. Cute too.
Edit: That's not what I was going to talk about...
This question has been bugging me for several days:
Wasn't there a screaming woman in front of the church? Isn't someone going to help her recover her child?

OOC: Would it still be ok if I joined, I've been looking for a good fantasy thread like this for a while, I'd really appreciate it if you let me join up!

While he was hunting alone one night at the age of 17, he returned home to find his parents dead, his mother's head decapitated, and a stake through her heart, and his father riddled with silver bullets and gashes on his torso, and his home on fire, he immediately fled the scene... he survived deep in the forests of transylvania, living in a small cave populated by bats, and hunted with the wolves during the night... now he has recently reappeared in New salem as a vigilante. (Could he maybe be following the trail of zambistans guy?

According to the front page, it's closed.
I know, but I'd really like to get into this thread! I like it.
Well, it is up to OA, but this has been kind of slow as of recent.
I've read and that is some excellent roleplaying y'all have done there!
Aye, but nobody has posted in a week.
I think I'm just gonna post on the IC thread anyways, kinda as an "audition" for my char, see if he likes it, I've been thinking of having him just stop by a blood bank (he doesn't like to bite humans) and just buy a blood bag, and drink from it, then he goes to the hotel nero and (graphically) kills some of the bodyguards on the floor karne was staying on? Maybe he could get into a brawl with King Arthurs werewolf dude. I dunno.
I don't know... feels kind of dead now.
If you're looking for a good and active zombie thread, I just joined one, I'll recomend that the GM for it will let you in. ;) Here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=522577) is the link.
Eh, thanks, but I don't like zombie RPs that much.
Alright, I'm ready to declare this dead - I am removing it from my subscriptions.
