San Montican Players William Munez III & Dominic Towers are the most likly out of all the San Montican players to win the first even of the tour.

Looking at the stats, Munez III has a scoring average of 69.46 playing at San Monticaz National Golf Course a course that oversees several events on its layout on the San Montican tour each year. Munez III has played on his own national tour & has won twice, with 3 top 5s in the last 8 times he has played at SM National.

However Munez III isn't the only one that has a large possibility. Dominic Tower's game is very much suited to the course that is made long, plenty of bunkers & the speed (medium-fast) is what he grew up on for the past 10-15 years.

The course is looking great, especially the length which due to International requests had to be reduced to 7,252 yards, because the limit is 7,500 yards. Theres a few holes out there that are fidly with two par 4s reachable from the tee, the 4th is only 301 yards long while the 11th is 289 yards long, but theres a difficult par 5 14th out there, longest on this tour playing at 598 yards, that often plays into the wind.

San Monticaz National has already greeted players since yesterday with two practise rounds already been held ready for a dramatic round 1 tommorow.

The weather has been said to be fickly with chances of some good rain, but theres no chance the greens will get much faster, because of predicted rain & the speeds were purposly slown down to see if players can even be challenged by slower greens rather than the typical fast-super fast greens that are shown throughout many nations.

Some 225,000 plus people are expected to come through during the event with some 75,000 tickets brought already for tommorow's round.

We shall wait & see what the worlds best can offer on one of the 'fickled' courses in San Monticaz, a world reknown nation with over 14,000 golf courses.
Ciego de Avila

Ciego de Avila will be having a strong presence and it will be felt! Around half the field is made up of Citizens from Ciego de Avila & with the three best players Anthony Swain, James O'Meara & Brett Webb, Ciego de Avila's International Golf Rep will hopefully double.

Ciego de Avila, like San Monticaz has strong golf in its culture, however dispite such a large interest of golf, only 5,517 golf courses cater for the estimated ten million that play golf each week not to mention the tourism game which is involved with golf.

Swain, O'Meara & Webb are most known for their not only being young but their array of talent & skills on the course. They are the 'Scotts, Garcia & Villegas' of Ciego de Avila International Golf.

All of our golfers involved in tommorows round have praised the current course conditions, but they do know of possibilities of some wet weather especially during the first two rounds. We have also praised for such a "unique" touch in green speed, challenging us with a different speed instead of as mentioned the typical super-fast speeds we face in many tournaments.

Ciego de Avila will be broadcasting each event in its nation thanks to a deal with San Monticaz & hopefully look forwards for many seasons to come, & possibily a host nation for the NS CC 2!?!?

Leading the San Montican pack of players are the stars Munez III & the Long O'Meara. Both are sitting on a good comfortable score at 10 under, both shooting in the mid-60s thanks to two wet but good rounds.

Round one was hit by a good few showers during the morning, but began to dry in the early afternoon, when the majority of the field including the above began their rounds.

The second round was rather sunny, with a sun shower around noon, but the course is looking greener than the practise rounds & due to the soft greens taking even the worst shots, especially on par 3s, nearly every one scored a decent round.

O'Meara was the only player from San Monticaz, also the only player to call the host course his home course to post a bogey-free round. He began with an eagle 3 on the short 2nd par 5 491 yards, firing to within 15 feet with his faved 3 Iron, blasting in a slow putt. He than birdies holes 9,11,12 & 18 with putts all from within 12 feet. He was lucky to save par on the dangerous par 3, 14th 203 Yards after a 5 Iron downwind flew the green & into a deep pot bunker. He then managed to clear the large lip of the bunker but had 30 feet left of green, which he made the putt just (It hung on the lip for a few moments before popping in).

Munez III enjoyed 8 birdies & a bogey in the final group for round 2. Despite not being the best putter so far this event, 3 birdies came from off the green. The first was a bunker chip-in from 30 feet, followed by a pitch from light rough 30 yards & a chip from 10 feet on the fringe. He however went pin-hunting all day finding the pin 13 times to within 12-20 feet range, missing several times which would have given him easily a low 60s round.
Ciego de Avila

Ciego de Avila tour sensation Brett Webb had made a charge in Round two to gain a three shot lead following his seven-under par round of 65 to go to fourteen under par. Webb managed 6 birdies, an eagle & bogey on the day.

Much of the media was puzzled how, Webb such talent, but little experience managed such a round. It wasn't pin-hunting as some of the San Montican players favour, but mearly the aerial game-drop any putt on the green in game, which gave hime at least 5 birdies. His eagle came from a fringe chip from 45 feet on the 18th par 5.

Dispite nearly perfect conditions the majority of the field didn't manage well. Munez III was the best san montican player for round three following yet again another round in the 60s. He could only manage four birdies & bogey on the last 6 holes.

Long-hitting O'Meara shot a three over par 75 for the round to fall back to seven under par for the tournament, some 6 shots off the pace.

Conditions have been set to be fine & sunny with a cool southern breeze, a regularity for the course during the warmer months.

Course conditions were the hardest for the final round. More rain whipped the course, breezes swept the course & sun came some where in-between.
Only a couple of players scored a decent score. Munez III & O'Meara both had a shot at the lead during their rounds, but failed to meet as such.

Munez III could only manage a one under 71 with three birdies & two bogeys all on the back nine, which was hit by mostly winds. Munez later said he made a fluke birdie on the 18th par 5. After a downwind 297 Yd drive & a 4 Iron into a green bunker, Munez III chipped to a devastating 40 feet from the bunker & was left with a long putt for birdie, which somehow flew right to the hole, Munez III later confessed 'i had no idea of the break, i read it back to front, it was really tricky so i just putted long & hard & boom, i made a birdie & got a tied for fourth.

James O'Meara spend most of his round continually putting for birdie, making 5birdies & a double on the 18th par 5 following a drive into the water & a 3 putt. O'Meara however dropped from contention despite such efforts during his round.

O'Meara & Munez III are both said to stay at the Club for more practise before they head to the other side of the city (second largest in San Monticaz - Pop 8,235,000) for the Classic before they head overseas. Munez III said he needed to nail more putts, while O'Meara said he needed more greens & better recovery. They are all vitals for the next course to be played in San Monticaz.
