Twin Phoenix Imperium

It was the biggest discovery in the history of the Interstellar Exploration Fleet. Not since leaving their birth-planet* had Imperial citizens set foot on a living world - and this one was covered in life.
Normal procedure was simply to drop an observation satellite into orbit and then take it back home a few months later for analysis, but Captain Varthasha had to see this planet for himself. Using powered-armour suits to protect themselves from any hazards, a few of the crew were exploring a dense jungle. Among the group were Felvorn, the ship's exobiologist, and the Captain himself.
"Reminds me of the domed forest I grew up in", remarked the Captain. "My parents were foresters, you see".
"Really? I would have loved growing up in the forest", Felvorn replied. "I always enjoyed the school trips".
A few moments of silence went by as they continued walking, observing their surroundings.
"I suppose the rest of the crew must be pretty jealous of us being the first to set foot here"
"Not as jealous as the ships surveying the system's other planets", Varthasha said with a slight smile.
Their conversation was suddenly interrupted when the Captain received a message from the ship: "Captain, an unidentified ship has been spotted entering the system".
Varthasha paused for a second, almost disbelieving his ears. "Did you say an unidentified ship? Out here?"
"Yes, Captain".
It couldn't be. Was this the TPI's first encounter with intelligent alien life? Back in Athalathar's star system, an unidentified ship meant simply that - an Imperial ship that the sensors did not have adequate data to identify. For reasons that were primarily historical, protocol demanded that they regard unidentified ships as potentially hostile, but no-one ever expected more than a refinement to the identification systems to result.
"Send a craft to pick us up immediately!" was all that the Captain said.
OOC:
This is basically an open sci-fi RP. I'm looking for someone to take the part of the unidentified ship. Other nations can take part too, but I'd prefer that no other nations take the role of explorers.
If there are any questions, please ask :) (hopefully I will be able to answer!)
* Please note: Their birth-planet is not the same as their homeworld. Most imperial citizens live on the homeworld, Athalathar, but their species originally came from the birth-planet, Iezmor.
