In Bloody Character View on the NSUN

Discoraversalism

OOC: I tried to ask this question on the NSUN forum, but they didn't seem capable of responding in character. What is your representatives various IN CHARACTER VIEWS on the NSUN?

IC: Disco U #98W#$% steps out of the cloning vat, checks his assignment report, and realizes he is being sent to the UN. He sees it as a suicide mission, but this clone was built not to question orders during it's first week of assignment. The Free Land of Discoraversalism withdrew from the UN recently, dissatisfied by how poorly the NSUN represented the views of the global body politic. Only a small portion of the worlds countries are represented by the UN, and the NSUN has little influence outside the UN.

Alexandra Yashiro leaned back in her office... she looked at the voting results of the latest Resolution and gave a hearty laugh.

yeah, right... like they can enforce THAT...

she thought back to when she was first assigned to this post. the dreams of shaping the world into one force, the consolidation of ideas, technology and even dreams that would trust man beyond the stars...

then she found out that people here only voted to put themselves on the moral high ground... to be able look down on those 'Rogue' Nations from their self built pedistals... they voted for things that made them look morally superior with no thought to the consequences of their actions.

Lifting her glass in salute to her National Flag, she downed the amber liquid in one gulp. She forwarded the results to her Nation's capital and wondered just when they will notice the alliances they made outside of the UN...

The thought of the Great NSUN not knowing what was going on under their noses made her grin.

she received the reports sent to her... the disputes the "Shadow Triad" (an alliance of Junii and two other 'Rogue' Nations) resolved, should they become public, would prove that the NSUN really didn't know what they were doing.

She glanced at the clock...

Now her job to play the loyal UN Ambassador and attend another 'Debate' and listen with great concern as the next Resolution is hashed out...

this time a repeal of another resolution... more tail chasing... more things to keep her amused.

Janvier Solana stared out of his offices window to look at the setting sun. He had a copy of the latest resolution that had been passed on his desk and had been perusing through it.

"Another good idea, albeit a little hard to enforce." He looked quite contemplative and a little tired "I think i'll go pay a visit over to the Stranger's Bar" he thought. Then he walked out of the room to the elevator.

"...and no other group has even a fraction of the membership as the UN. The fact that the various representatives from Discoraversalism refuse to accept this plainly obvious fact doesn't change a damn thing. Nor does their continued petulant whining."

“We of the Orion Empire enjoy national sovereignty, and so we are not involved in a group which passes initiatives in order to indirectly rule over nations, especially when the individual nations display how powerless the UN actually is by disobeying the foundations of the group itself. The United Nations is for those who don’t know how to lead, or don’t bother to try. It is ineffective at best.”

Simon Blue considers the question. "I have to agree with Dargan Zaraad. The UN is a minority, but it's still bigger than any other group I know of. It doesn't have any military clout, and its economic clout is less than it should be because of all their bickering. But it does seem to have political clout.

Also, the NSUN does have some influence on non-UN nations. Awhile back, someone had the bright idea to reduce trash by shooting it into space. The space-faring races went ape over that one, including the ones that aren't in the UN. And if any of those disarmament proposals ever passed, that could change the balance of power in several areas, affecting non-UN nations that way.

I'm glad Sirat is not in the UN anymore. Its resolutions were bad for my country. But, I have to say, the UN booze is better than anything Sirat has"

Simon takes another swig from the bottle he's holding.

IC: The NSUN itself might not have much military clout, but a great many NSUN members are militaristic, and they run their warfare according the NSUN rules of engagement it seems.
