Guenva: This is Guenva Monty, but just call be Guenva, because i dont like my last name at all, so i just like to be known as Guenva. Team Cuban Sunrise is seeking to dominant a very tough field including a well-known Ritican Wind. With me is the Cuban Sunrise skipper who has a little to share with us about the opening race to be held in the Northern Waters of his home nation. How are you Bartolomé Luis Domingo?

Domingo: Well thanks, yourself?
Guenva: Better than most son! So lets let the International audiences learn abit about the new sensation team of Cuban Sunrise. You have amoungst the best resume here on tour, your team is young & talented, what do you think of the competition?

Domingo: Two words! Very tough! Ritican Wind is my biggest worry with their talent, but so is Team Valencia from nearby Ciego de Avila, especially in the quick Harbour circuits, they are well known, but anyone out here has a chance.

Guenva: What do you think of the first race? Its a big one, 500 nautical miles! Are you prepared?

Domingo: Hopefully we are prepared for this opening race, a big one as you mentioned. I think it will be a challenge, but its been reported that we should have some very fine weather in the next week, but its these next couple of days that we should be watching, because the weather can change quick. One of the crew Rodrigo Garcia said the race is 4 laps from the western tip to the eastern tip of the northern shores, so we feel confident, because we race that circuit maybe ten times a year & over the last few years, we have had extremlly good success, but team Valencia have had some good ones here, in some International Cups between our nations.

Guenva: Do you feel confident. On a scale of one to ten, what do you feel your are in confidence?

Domingo: We all feel confident to some extent, its a big one so theres a bit on the line, plus its an opener. I think my crew would agree with maybe a six or seven.

Guenva: Well thanks alot for your time & good luck tommorow!

Domingo: No problem, thanks!

Team Valenica gained momentium when they placed tied for second, in the opening race for the season tour after a 2:06:40:10 for the 500 nautical mile offshore race. In the race across nearby San Monticaz, on the final leg back, Valencia had a good lead only to be hit hard by a hard win, that slowed them dramatically, however it was only a brief hit & they pulled through, but Ritican Wind, who many suspect will be a big hit for the season, was just to quick, gaining nearly an hour in-front on the last 75 mile strait.

While, Valencia narrowly missed a win, the team celebrated their good success with a large party on the northern shores of San Monticaz, where thousands gathered as well as the media, as the first race won over 25 million viewers world-wide, especially in both San Monticaz & our nation of Ciego de Avila, where sailing is regarded by our people as the #2 National Sport.

As the Corsairs pulled back into the dock they hitched her to the moorings with care. Each member ran their fingers across the railings ad they stepped off. The old boat was a little rusty, but then again so were they.

The team went off for the pub to share stores of things past, and things hopefully to come.

Cuban Sunrise, a successor from Cuban Sunset has managed to do quite well in the first two races held in its own national waters with positions of tied 3rd & 4th added to its resume.
While Cuban Sunrise managed to finish in the harbour race at 4th place completing the circuit in 3 hours, two minutes & 14 seconds, Team Bostopia had a close win with a record 2 hours, 57 minutes & 31 seconds, some 3 minutes faster than the record held by Freedom Fighter III, a San Montican keelboat that had recently "retired".

Cuban Sunrise is seeking to add a title in the third race in some more familiar waters in nearby Ciego de Avila Race 3 - Where? Ciego de Avila Southern Ocean. Type? Offshore race. Distance? 200 nautical miles. Estimate Time? 1-2 days?. Total Purse? $1,000,000 (First Prize - $450,000)
looking for a possible win to progress up to the top of the money list where rival Ritican Wind, a now famous due to its title & its tactics on the water. Although a title is well earnt, harbour races dont offer much in money & due to that reason, the title isn't really deemed much. Everyone is seeking that "Big One" they call a Offshore title with hundreds of thousands up up for first place.

At the close of the second race The Corsairs were ecstatic, tied for third.

"Not to bad, eh?" Jack called from the rigging, "You know Claus, this rusted out dingy just might see us through this thing."

"Rusty?" Claus snapped back.

"Relax Cap'n, just relax." Janet said to the old sailor as she came up from the bottom deck, she patted his shoulder as she told him, "It can't rust Jack, it's made of wood you daft college boy. If anything it's knotted and moldy!", as she ran to the dock, hopping across the deck.

Uri and Jack fell over laughing before they could finish tying the boat to the moorings. Claus just stood there shaking his head.

"You know, I never had to put up with this aggraivation in the Republican Navy, the men under..."

In unison the other three cut him off and said.

"My command listened to every order without fail and always had the utmost respect for their ship and captain."

"And you've never had this much fun before, now admit it old man." Janet called to the old man from the dock.

All he could do was nod in agreement and laugh with them, together they would prove what the old ship could do.

As the old boat crossed the finish line the Corsairs erupted in cheers of victory.

"I knew my old girl had it in her!" Claus exclaimed as he patted his faithful old boat. "All we needed as a little luck, which I can attribute to....."

"Dont' you dare try to tell us that old Navy hat of yours won this race you old sea dog." Uri said, Cluas had been wearing his old Republican Navy officers cap since day 1 on the circuit.

As they pulled into the dock victorious, the lads hitched the boat up and hopped off. Janet ramined on for a brief second and clutched the wedding ring around her necklace, the last memento of her lost love.

"I hope you were watching this one."

"Janet!" Jack called from the dock, "Are ya coming?"

She looked back at her team, "Sorry, just daydreaming I guess."

The Corsairs locked arms hand headed off to town, ready to celebrate thier good fortune. In unison they sang.

"Save the last pint for me boys, save the last pint for me.........."

Rosette wasn't doing bad at all. She had scored 4th this time.

"Not bad for a farmer huh?"

"It's certianlly impressive sweetheart."

"Ever since I had to be pulled from the jaws of the raging sea and lost, I've felt like a failure. Now I have a chance."

"Come on Rosette, I don't see you as a failure. You and Joshua are lucky to be alive. "

"I know but still I really would have liked to have won that race. If we can win this, it'll give the girls someone to look up to you know."

"Ah you know the girls love you anyway."

Rosette looked at the girls who were both sleeping.

"Now they will be able to admire me. I always admired my mother because of her sacrafices to raise us. But I need a legacy."

It was early in the morning as Claus roused his teammeates.

"Come on you layabouts, it's morning! Time to prepare for the next race!"

The rest of the crew, who had not had the privilege of rousing at 5 in the morning every day were less than pleased.

"Claus, it's 5:30 in the morning!" Uri protested.

Janet threw a pillow at the old sea dog, "We're not in the Navy! Lemme sleep."

"Precisely!" Cluas exclaimed, "We're in the wrong mindset. We've been so close to victory but have only tasted it's sweet nectar once. The Republican Navy has one of the greatest win-loss records in the world. We should bring that kind of....."

Jack just turned over as he told his faithful captain, "Then sail the Tartarus but let us rest."

"But I made bacon and eggs. For optimum early morning energy."

Janet looked him dead in the eye, "You live, but only because of bacony goodness."
