Greetings world.
We are the People's Republic of Doqistan. The people who were living in the area have gotten together to declare themselves a new country, and at the same time, found a new region, called the United Republics of Earth. We are a democratic state committed to the ideal of individual freedom, unoppressive government, and a publicly owned economy which exists for the benefit of the people.
Our factbook entry reads as follows:
"The Most Serene Republic of Doqistan is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 54%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Furniture Restoration.
Crime is totally unknown. Doqistan's national animal is the rabbit, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Doq."
We encourage all interested to make us your allies. Our population will be forming into a self-defense militia, and we will be publishing a map of our national territory shortly.
