Joint Press Release by the Pantocratorian Cricket Board and Rugby Union Pantocratoria

War is a human catastrophe and the greatest tragedy of our era. Wars may be caused by any number of events, decisions, and national emotions, but the root cause of these all is lack of understanding between the men and women of the nations of the world. This lack of understanding is what makes such inhuman devastation as wars always are justifiable to the populations of the nations of the world. Lack of understanding between governments, but most importantly, lack of understanding between ordinary people. Only when ordinary citizens of one nation don't understand that the citizens of another nation are ordinary just like them, have the same hopes and fears and aspirations, the same basic human needs and desires, can the cold, casual brutality of international politics thrust two nations into that greatest of all human tragedies, war.

For all the differences between the Empire of Pantocratoria and the Republic of Iesus Christi, and there are many differences, for all the criticisms of governments, the ordinary people of both nations, like the ordinary people of every nation, share so much in common. By no means the chief amongst these, but perhaps the least controversial, is sport. If there is one thing which people across the world can unite to enjoy, it is sport. On the sportsfield there are no politics and nations, only athletics and teams. On the sportsfield there are no creeds or cults but the rules of the game and the spirit of sportsmanship. We can all unite in our love of sport.

The peoples of Iesus Christi and Pantocratoria share, in particular, a love for the games of cricket and rugby. We have issued this press release to advise that the Pantocratorian Cricket Board and Rugby Union Pantocratoria have arranged with their Iesian counterparts two international sports tours to take place over the next two months. It is our hope that these tours will not only gratify fans of both games in both countries, but will foster a better understanding between the Pantocratorian and Iesian people. We hope that our humble games will help people to see beyond their prejudices and preconceptions at this difficult time in history.

Rugby Tour Arrangements
The Iesian rugby team will tour Pantocratoria, playing five international games with the Pantocratorian rugby team, and a yet to be decided number of games with various regional teams. International game fixtures are as follows:

*New Rome - Isaac V Stadium, January 13
*Adrienople - St Constantine Football Ground, January 21 (Louis XVI Memorial Public Holiday)
*Demetriopolis - Angelos Stadium, February 9
*New Constantinople - Despotic Arena, February 17
*Adrienople - St Constantine Football Ground, February 24

Further fixtures will be announced by Rugby Union Pantocratoria as they are arranged.

Cricket Tour Arrangements
The Pantocratorian cricket team will tour Iesus Christi, playing five international test matches with the Iesian cricket team, and a yet to be decided number of test matches and one day matches with various regional teams. Fixtures will be announced by Cricket Iesus Christi*.

Team selections for the Pantocratorian teams will soon be made and announced by the Pantocratorian Cricket Board and Rugby Union Pantocratoria, and for the Iesian teams by their Iesian counterparts.

We are both sickened and appalled by the fact that the Pantocratorian government can participate in this horrific act of showcasing and collaboration with the terrorist organization currently billing itself as a legitimate government of Iesus Christi. As we all know all too well, totalitarian 'governments' very often use sports and show-business to promote themselves abroad. The actors and sportsmen are usually held on a 'tight leash', with relatives at home kept hostage to prevent them from defecting – and often, people without families are simply not allowed to go abroad. Those who are so allowed are often escorted in their journeys by an officer of the 'government's' secret police. Such was the way of the Soviet Union – likely Iesus Christi does so as well.

Any Iesian going abroad is likely not an 'average' citizen, but more like a willing or unwilling collaborant of the Iesian government. We must all unite to stop Iesian propaganda and self-promotion, we must do what we can to weaken Bridgette Iesus' bloody regime in every form. While military intervention is currently out of reach – due to the likely incredible loss of civilian life – it would be at least the moral duty of foreign governments to end diplomatic cooperation with the Iesian fascists.

As such, we ask the Pantocratorian government to deny all visas from Iesus Christi, to evict all Iesian ambassadors, to deny Iesus Christi trade and diplomatic recognition.

Any foreign policy that involves cooperation with Iesus Christi's current band of illegitimate rulers is a policy of failure.

The Allanean response to the announcement of sports tours between Pantocratoria and Iesus Christi is as is lamentably often the case, predictable, zealous, and in its way, shockingly naïve. It betrays a strong ignorance of the exact intricacies of the Iesian situation, considering it directly comparable to other situations because of the relative lack of freedoms granted by the Iesian government.

While there is a possibility of state coercion of the Iesian sports teams, there is a possibility of state coercion in all such activities, and incredible as it may sound, it seems unlikely that the Iesian government – comparatively ‘laid back’ by some standards, is over-concerned about such matters beyond a desire to prevent defection.

What is more, it is immensely unlikely that the Pantocratorian cricketers will come to harm at the hands of their hosts, and even more improbable that the Iesians are likely to be harmed by theirs. Consequently, there is no specific reason to disbar either tour save a vague suspicion of coercion by the Iesian government (I’m betting on the Iesians anyway).

I myself have seen ( http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11911387&postcount=2 ) and enjoyed numerous tours by Iesian theatre companies, especially notable being ‘Golgotha’ and have every intention of visiting one of the games in Pantocratoria, though not necessarily ‘officially.’ Despite its current problems, there is much to laud about the culture and yes, even society, of Iesus Christi, and the expansion of contact with the world beyond its regional neighbours is to be encouraged as a means of preventing such a nation being maligned as a pariah. A denial of the validity of a nation’s art – and of its more kinetic cousin, sport – is a denial of the ‘humanity’ of its people, and as such utterly reprehensible.

It is unfortunate, and yet my Secretary of State was unable to respond to the Elenaran's message in person – as a matter of fact, I prohibited her from doing so due to the fact her personal religious beliefs would contravene what I consider to be her duty in this case. I would like to assure you, however, that Victoria delivers her sincere apologies for contravening your opinion. If you, indeed, listen to prayers, you will find her as pious a servant of yours as she usually is.

As for myself… as President of the United States, I may only restate again - a policy that doesn't at least try to bring to the removal of the illegitimate 'government' of Iesus Christi is a policy of utter moral bankruptcy. It is a policy full of fail and lose.

Tell her to quit grovelling and stick to her own reasoning. Also tell her that the Iesian dictatorship is a ‘Micky Mouse’ organisation that still has to contend with the Catholic Church, and isn’t half as capable as you think it is. There used to be a sizeable government in exile, after all, before some nation who shall remain nameless managed to get it slaughtered.

In response to the official announcement by the Department of State on the matter of the sports tours arranged by Rugby Union Pantocratoria and the Pantocratorian Cricket Board and their counterparts in Iesus Christi, the Imperial Government wishes to clarify that it has played no part in organising these sports tours, which are entirely the initiative of private citizens and organisations.

The Imperial Government regards the Government of Iesus Christi, however objectionable it may be to the United States or other nations, as the legitimate Iesian Government. Further, even if it did not, it is the opinion of the Government that it would have no grounds to refuse to grant visas to Iesian athletes who have committed no criminal wrong-doing and who individually pose no threat to Pantocratoria or its people.

Finally, the Imperial Government rejects the idea that peaceful diplomatic engagement cannot be a force for good in Iesus Christi. The recent bloodshed between your own nation and the nation of God's Own represents too high a price paid in innocent blood for any reasonable government to regard another such war as an acceptable solution to the perceived objectionable nature of foreign governments. The Imperial Government further finds it hypocritical that a nation itself closely allied with totalitarian regimes, as the United States of Allanea is, would condemn Pantocratoria as failing in its moral duty for its foreign policy in regards to the Republic of Iesus Christi.

We find it particularly laudable that the Allaneans are condemning the citizens of Pantocratoria for sharing their love of sports with the people of Iesus Christi. Again, yet another show of Allanean hypocrisy and ignorance. Do we need to continually remind Alexander Kazansky of their own crimes against innocent civillians throughout the history of the United States from its small beginnings until now? Or of the Allanean government's complete ineptitude in diplomacy, and severe lack of common sense?

In the meantime, we find a schedule of friendly sporting events to be perfectly excusable, despite the opinions and propeganda that the Kazansky administration seems to enjoy spreading. Which we might note that the Unione of Capitalizt States tends to care very little for; we are reasonably certain that the Pantocratorian government tends to hold this view also.

I would like to personally recommend that that the Kazansky administration think before issuing such provocative statements - if they have the capacity to, that is.

Keep your noses out of Pantocratoria's business, and we will continue to keep our noses out of yours.

Official Allanean Response to Pantocratoria

Frankly, we are surprised that the Pantocratorians would resort to such overt ad hominems. The moral failures of the Allanean government – of which chief is the failure to remove the governments of all Reich regimes – are completely irrelevant for the discussion. Even if Allanea were to go mad, institute National Socialism, and join the Reich overnight, it would still be your moral duty to oppose Iesus Christi.

As a matter of fact, Allanea has caused the removal of multiple tyrannical states and their replacement with democracies – most recently in British Londinium/Eurasia, where such a thing was carried out without a shot fired, by the mere threat. How many people has Pantocratoria brought freedom to? Oh, that's right.

Zero.

The staff at the Pantocratorian Embassy to Allanea could frame no effective response to Allanea's reply to the Ambassador's letter for the simple reason that the ignorance it betrayed of Pantocratoria's foreign policy and the history of that foreign policy demonstrated that it must have been the work of a junior Department of State underling, not the Secretary of State herself, whom the embassy staff assumed remembered Pantocratoria and Excalbia's toppling of a genocidal regime in Espario several years earlier, Pantocratoria and Excalbia's ousting of Upper Virginian dictator General Altman and the assistance they rendered in creating a stable democracy in Upper Virginia, Pantocratoria's assistance in the rebuilding of Marlund and in protecting Marlund's fledging democracy from insurgents of all sorts after The Resurgent Dream toppled the white supremacist regime there, and so on. And of course, this was saying nothing of peaceful diplomatic efforts in which Pantocratoria had never fired a shot but rather brokered arrangements whereby Knootian troops and neo-colonial administrators withdrew from Tanah Burung, and through which Pantocratoria assisted the people of Saxmere to obtain a degree of self-determination which balanced their desire to remain within the Confederation of Sovereign States with their desire to be free from some of the more onerous meddling of their central government. It would've been utterly pointless, in the face of such ignorance, to point out to the author of the note the embassy had received that Pantocratorian troops had fought against the troops of the Reich long before Allanea started lobbing nuclear missiles about the place, fighting in defence of the Republic of Syskeyia when it was first invaded.

No, to reply to such a childish note obviously not written by the Secretary of State herself but by some petty bureaucratic functionary would simply be a mammoth waste of time. Nobody whose opinions actually mattered in the Allanean Government could be so ignorant, it was reasoned.

Michael blinked when he recieved some sort of a reply from the Allaneans. Lost without words, he too like the Pantocratorians found the logic behind it vaguely... childish? Not like them, he didn't dismiss the message to have not come from Victoria herself; it was more of a matter that this seriously represented the amount of brains and logic the Allanean government had. And he laughed out loud especially when he noted that they had picked on something even more rediculous - something in the order of a typo.

A response was drafted back to the Allaneans, made on open channels so anybody musing possibly could see. It was simple however, and mostly to make of a mockery of the letter Michael had recieved.

The first Pantocratorian cricket supporters to arrive in Iesus Christi have reported that they are “stunned and delighted” by the “Glorious paradise” that is Iesus Christi.
Coming from a land where pagan faiths and metahuman influence have been sadly been allowed to take some hold, the Pantocratorian tourists have seen Iesus Christi for what it is – A Christian paradise where humans are free of metahuman slavery. We can only hope that one day the Pantocratorians will see that total rejection of metahuman liberalism can save them, for there can be no negotiations with the legions of evil - Only through purity and devotion can victory be achieved.

…..and dear reader it should be noted that the Pantocratorians are a sensible people at the core. They haven’t been fooled by the metahumans enough to include any of the animals in their sports teams.
The metahuman is a mongrel, a defect of nature that pollutes the world. Peigín Ní Ríain was growing more and more nervous. She wasn't the first Commonwealth "national" to visit Iesus Christi. Those nut jobs from WACC had come back and spewed fascist propaganda which hardly anyone but their supporters took seriously. A few Finaran businessmen had gone to arrange financial deals as had a number of diplomats. But all of those trips had been 'safe.' Ní Ríain was a critical journalist from a legitimate part of the free press in Finara, the Lion's Voice and, although she was in part coming to report upon the actual fortunes of sports teams, she was also to report on the political and diplomatic significance of the entire exchange and, although her visa was well in order, she did not enjoy quite the same semi-diplomatic protection of the Pantocratorian players and reporters. For such a person, Iesus Christi was a scary, dangerous place.

Ní Ríain set her book down as the plane began to descend towards St. Augustine. She looked intently out the window, more or less ignoring the ordinary jarring of a descending airplane in favor of her anxiety about all the things which could happen if she didn't handle this situation with due care.

The blue funnelled ship shot over foam crested waves, cutting a great arrow behind its trimaran hull of white painted steel, portholes of slightly concave shape in lofty arches lined the ship just above the waterline, and wider, panoramic windows made up the viewing surfaces higher on the vessel as it clipped over the seas at a tremendous turbine driven pace, towards its distant destination.

Official Foreign Ministry Comment on the Pantocratoria-Iesus Christi Rugby Union/Cricket Tournaments:

The Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom welcome the recent announcement on the sporting fixtures that shall be taking place in the Holy and Most August Empire and the Holy Empire. The Communist Party of Otiacicoh, acting in its role as vanguard of the Proletariat, welcomes any move that seeks to reduce the mulitude of devisive tensions that currently hold our world under their combined sway. Such an act is one that can only be applauded by all right-thinking nations who seek security and peace over bloodshed and loss.
While the Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom does accept, in principle at least, the concerns of the current Allanean Administration, it would remind the United States a line in the sand still remains between participation in sporting matters and open support of a foreign regime. The Party believes that Pantocratoria is still safely on the former point and a good many fathoms away from the latter. Sporting fixtures took place between the Soviet Union and America during the Cold War yet few would argue that this was palable to the moral collapse of either side in face of their foes.
Sport should be, and should remain, as free as possible from the overt face of politics. To that end, therefore, may the best team triumph in either category.

After walking through a labyrinth of cameras, troopers with dogs(that sniffed at her constantly) and metal detectors Peigin finally got into the airport itself. The airport was almost totally empty..few people travel to Iesus Christi.
Despite the few arriving travellers, dozens of troopers carrying machine guns in their hands wondered around the arrival area..in fact the entire airport had more of a look of a militarised base than a airport.

All arriving bags were x-rayed as they were taken into the terminal, with two women sitting by the machine that scans the bags looking unapologetic as they scanned the arrivals belongings.
Since none of the bags set off any beeps in the machinery, Peigin was allowed to collect her bag walked right through to customs area.

The tourists are here and the nation is buzzing. Over 100,000 fans greeted the arriving cricket team as they arrived lining the roads to get a glimpse of this team of foriegn warriors.

Manuel de Barveul and his men were surprised by the size of the Iesian crowds. They expected that the stadiums would be sold-out but it nothing had prepared them for as many people again lining the streets, not even to see them play, but just to see them. It was obvious that international sports tours from outside the Reich were not common occurrences in Iesus Christi. The crowds were at once intimidating but also welcoming and even inspiring. It certainly gave the Pantocratorian team the impression that it was doing something very important by agreeing to play the tour.

There were no enormous crowds to greet the Iesian rugby team at the airport or at the hotel or at any place before their first match. There were, of course, the usual die-hard rugby fans searching for autographs and photographs with the Iesian players, but they never numbered more than several dozen.

The crowd at Isaac V Stadium however was enormous, numbering over 110,000 all told. The Iesian contingent was small but vocal, as one might expect, and the Pantocratorian spectators were not as partisan as many sports spectators were anyway. Consequently, the applause for the Vipers as they ran out onto the field was every bit as loud as the applause for the Kataphracts. The captains of each team assembled in the middle with the referee for the coin toss, which the visitors won, before each joined their respective teams, which lined up on the field for their national anthems, facing the Imperial Box.

The Imperial Box was a structure which dominated the stadium, taking up enough space to accomodate at least another 200 fans in regular seats. The Imperial Box was draped in purple silks, dressed with ostrich and peacock feathers about its trim, and the Imperial coat of arms was mounted on the front in the centre. A dozen trumpets played a relatively simple tune to herald the occupant's arrival - too simple for that occupant to be the Emperor.

The Imperial Government had advised the Emperor not to attend earlier that day - up until that point, whilst being non-committal, the Emperor had leaned towards attending the match in person. After some of the international reaction to the tour, the Imperial Government was concerned that the Emperor opening the tour's first match would be construed as governmental support. Neither, however, did the Emperor nor the Imperial Government want to be seen to disapprove of the tour, and thus a member of the Imperial Family was sent in his place. Thus the trumpets heralded the arrival of the fifteen year-old Princess Zoë, who carried herself in a regal manner which belied her natural insecurity at finding herself in front of 110,000 people as the temporary centre of attention. Out of view in the shadows at the rear of the box stood Sir Constantine and the Princess' security personnel. Zoë waved to the crowd in a fashion similar to her father's wave, and remained standing for the national anthems of both nations.

A well-known Pantocratorian pop diva sang "God Save the Emperor" and then "Immaculate Mother, We call upon thee" surprisingly competently, and then play began...

The crowds swamped the cars carrying the touring team to the cricket ground, with desperate Iesus security personal trying in vain to keep back the autograph demanding fans.
“Manuel de Barveul! Sign my hat! Plllllllease!” The teen in his Iesus youth uniform stuffed his hat in Manuels face – apparently the faces and names of the Pantocratoria squad were well known by the Iesus fans.

The Mary Queen of Victory Cricket Ground(MQVCG) was a sell out. 200,000 people were crammed into the grounds to see the first test between the two nations. Throughout the country every viewscreen was broadcasting the match live to enthralled crowds who hadn’t been lucky enough to get tickets.

Matthew Iesus (Lord Protector, President, First General of the Iesus armed forces, Former Captain of the Army First XI) bounded down the line of players, joking and shaking hands with them all.
“Fine weather for it isn’t it Captain! I’ll give you a friendly warning………Our spin bowlers favour the morning dew! Watch ‘em!” Matthew Iesus gave a cheeky laugh and grinned like a child, his black uniform a stark contrast to his boyish laughter.

The two anthems were song by the Iesus youth national choir, but the Iesus anthem was song by the entire stadium..their arms raised in stiff fascist salutes as they song their national anthem.

The Iesus rugby team stood like soldiers, giving the absent Emperor and the Princess the fascist salute as she entered. Naturally they sung heartily along with their own national anthem….again their arms raised in salute along with the small group of Iesus fans in the stadium.

The Iesus Captain Douglas “Grunter” Kelly led his players like it was battle. Sport was a serious business in Iesus Christi and they weren’t going to ‘play nice’ – far from it. The Iesus rugby union competition (like the cricket comp) was a cut throat competition with no prizes for second, for Iesus sports teams sport was war by proxy.

The prop Thomas O’Shea personified the Iesus attitude in rugby. He was big..strong and not too smart. He gave the impression that he’d be hit about the head once too often as a child and now was applying those childhood life skills to the game of rugby. He wouldn’t be personally happy till he had some opposition blood on his jersey

It is the sad decision of the Iesus Christi government that due to recent events and the clear breakdown in security in Pantocratoria, that the tour is canceled.
This decision has been thrust upon us because it is now apparent that the safety of the Iesus players cannot be assured. We deeply regret the decision but until Pantocratoria security reaches an acceptable standard it would be negligent of us to allow our citizen to be exposed to such clear danger.
We wish the citizens of Pantocratoria every blessing of Our Saviour Jesus Christ and wish them to know that this decision was forced upon us because of their own governments lack of action, leadership and insight…it is now clear that whether the government of Pantocratoria believes it or not..they are indeed at war with the forces of Metahumanism and its insidious protestant allies.
We lament for our friends for you are no longer masters in your own home, thus we pray that Our Lady intervene for you.

Jane packed the last bag, zipped it up and smiled. It was almost time….

After much planning the Clarkson family was now ready. Through the grape vine Jane Clarkson had learnt that she and her husband Thomas were on the list for an upcoming ‘dissident crackdown’ ..so they’d bribed and begged and after much heartbreak they’d managed to get their names on the list for a plane to Pantocratoria. Theoretically they’d be their to watch the rugby…the reality was they’d use it as their one chance to avoid the horrors of the upcoming crackdown..the tour would save their lives.

They listened in numb horror as the news of the cancellation of the tour came through, husband and wife holding each other closely as the dire implications washed over them. Little Alice gazed up at her parents, sucking her thumb as their world fall apart.

Jane choked back her tears “Oh God Thomas. What will we do? How could this of happened?”
