The clink of a champagne glass among the obelisk corporate towers, fireworks popping over the suburbs, and pots and pans clamoring over the farmland. No major celebration in watching a clock's hand pass over a single point, a few lights and a few drinks but nothing more. This pair was far removed from any celebration. Sacha flipped quickly through the Annum. A grand clock somewhere in the fortress struck midnight, a dull resonance running through the stone walls and echoing in the hallowed chambers. Ludvik made love to his cigarette, cancer dripping from his lips. Faraway fireworks painted their faces with random colors, faint popping scrambled for attention.
"What are our options?"
"Famine."
"Too soon."
"Disease."
"Jordan would want to be involved, we're not speaking."
"War."
"Fine. Don't involve me."

Why: Attacks on Fodist assets in the Klatch Coast have evoked a response from the national administration. Throughout the past month at the Fodist military base of Meyer, KC, there have been bombings, supply raids and unprovoked fire upon personnel, convoys, and the Meyer base itself. The Emperor has released an official statement declaring a 'War on Terror.' The Streitkräfte is expected to mobolize armed units.
Within the recesses of the VIS, the reports from the state of Fodmodmadtol were received with, well, surprise. Fodmodmadtol was far away from Vrak and kept a very low profile in the affairs of the Klatch itself, even though it was a full fledged member state. This also meant that the Vrakians had little knowledge of the insular Fodians. Thus the report , as some hoped, would offer a glimpse into the inner workings of that particular state. The brief report was carefully scrutinized and possible courses of action were put forth. Since the Vrakians already had a sizable fleet dispatched due to the Squall Straits fiasco (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=508111), they would be given an additional task to carry out. As well, the Vrakian keys were ordered to make themselves available to their Fodian counterparts in order to find out what exactly was transpiring in that far away state. At the back of everyone’s mind was what would be the reaction of the FKC president?

Technically the States could do what they liked, within reason...
This was the line the new Presidency was taking. Fodmodmadtol could charge about shooting at whatever it liked, so long as they didn't shoot at someone the Presidency was trying to butter up... And so long as nobody tried to attack Klatch, in which case they would leap to the rescue of the Fodish Government (whether or not they actually needed rescuing, but it never hurt for the JDF to fly the flag).
So the Presidency sat silent and didn't interfere.
