The Elsani City States

The Elsani, as tied down to one place as they are now compared to their wandering past, it's only natural that some desire to return to that era of freedom, from binding agreements, from responsibility, from the hassles of the more 'civilized' peoples. To that end, there are many little Elsani 'outposts' spread out all over the place for some of the species and individuals that cannot resist that lure, and who feel that the Habitat is too..restrictive. Exploration is a natural, second nature issue to them, and in one of these communities, on a seemingly barren, far away rock, Exploration is taking a backseat to the creeping feeling that someone, something is watching.
The group, or rather, clan of people that would be called Dwarves in other cultures are no strangers to the dangers of mining on alien worlds, but even they cannot quite come to terms with what is happening. The tiny collection of buildings they had carved into the face of this world had been, according to some of their higherups, invaded. While the less paranoid of these pioneers made use of their ties to those of the Elsani that had some degree of 'dem mind powers', They were still unable to understand the true nature of what had been causing /plantlife/ to erupt in patterns from the walls of their new homes.
Ideas on dealing with this incident were bounced around, and after some arguing, and cursing they all agreed to look into-or at least give the appearance of looking into, the causes of it.
More than one of the stout folk noticed the patterns of grasslike things creeping along the walls and through their equipment formed what appeared to be symbols in some arcane language long forgotten.
Eventually, even through all of the stalling tactics and general indifference from most, Laaran himself took notice, and knowing that this was out of his, and his peoples range of skill, sort help from certain friends.
A small message, and a recommendation to pass it on to those in the know...
Friends, Despite the resources at my disposal, a seemingly minor incident with a few of the people that depend on me has, well, spun out of control. It is my duty to ensure their wellbeing, however, I feel that I am incapable of doing so in this instance, and that certain among you can provide help here.
This..thing, or things, of some description, are interfering with that duty, and even with my abilities, I know not what it is or the extent of the damage it can cause. Thank you in advance for your help, and advice, in wishing to see a quick resolution to this.
