"Hit"

WHACK!

"Miss"

WHACK!

"Hit"

WHACK!

"Hit"

WHACK!

"Miss"

Carmine drew a breath as he held back on his next strike. Training was not as easy as first thought, but he was still committed to what he had first set out to do. He flashed a look at his instructor, who stood emotionless.

WHACK!

"Hit"

He flashed a grin.

WHACK

"Miss"

That grin turned upside-down quickly as his eye caught at the time.

"Thats it," his instructor announced. "You have done well today."

"I did alright," cursed the Secretary-General.

"No, youre doing better than most at your level. I expect that with your level of committment, we should see some dramatic improvement in the next few months," the instructor grinned this time. "Within a few years time, you'll be world class."

Flaring his nostrels Carmine snickered, "Then I will have to improve quicker."

The instructor shook his head, "I'll be back next week, until then, Godspeed SG"

"And to you too," Carmine shook the instructor's hand.

Turning to watch the instructor leave, he quickly set eyes back on the avatar which was still projected. Grinning inwardly, he put his gloves back on and prepared for some 'additional' improvement.

WHACK!

A few days later, and a degree of private surgery was being undertaken. A team of the nation's best doctors and nurses, they worked over Goodchild's open skull albeit in secret. Having signed government sponsered documentation, kissing and telling would be met with fatal concequences - and the lives of their families, should said actions be followed with less than welcome concequences. They operated, at least medical science had made its advancements enough that most mistakes could be reversed. That said, these were the Unione's best, they didnt make mistakes.

Installing an Electronic Brain Enhancement Cell was actually easier than it sounded, it was simply a matter of attaching the right nerve endings with the device, so that the EBEC would connect with its owner's conciousness. With it, power of the brain was multiplied, making things like memory loss and mental disease correctable. Also with it, came the ability to communicate with other EBEC users, among a various amount of other physical enchancements also.

With the ability to calculate things five times as fast, getting the latest model of EBEC was certainly something to boast for - the cost not. Advantages in mind, said units were only available to the highest of government and government leaders. Older models were released to the public, with certain functions disabled or modified.

Of course, having an EBEC installed was somewhat of a risk - especially if the government was listening to and recording your every thought.

Public demand was not especially high.
