The Great Monty Python
17-12-2006, 00:06
The GMPFC (The Great Monty Python Film Committee), the Capital City of Piemon and the FAME Awards (sponsored by the "Ministry of Silly Walks") present....

The Piemon International Film Festival

The Piemon International Film Festival will be held from the 6th January to 12th January.

ALL FILMS/PEOPLE MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 6TH JANUARY!

Original Announcement

This an announcement about the upcoming "Piemon International Film Festival", that will be held in memory of the late Sir Edward Ross who was one of the pioneers of The Great Monty Python Film Industry, with his first film, "Tea Maker" (1 BP - Before Python) being "one of the most accurate descriptions of the backstabbing, deceiving world of cinema".
There will be Classic Films, Current Films and Experimental Films shown. These shall all be judged in the prestigious Film Awards for Making Excellence (FAME awards). We will need the entries soon, so prepare to show off your films in style in the coastal town of Piemon in the almost complete, open-air Piemon Arena.
We will accept all films from almost any nation, no matter how old they are. This is a film festival that does not only recognize mainstream movies, it finds out about older movies and people who have contributed to any section of film making, so prepare so send your nominees in before January 6th to create a shortlist.

About the Festival and Piemon:

This is a film festival in which almost anyone can take part in and come to, including international leaders, members of government and people with major contributions to the arts. Held in the wonderful coastal capital of The Great Monty Python, Piemon, with many spectcles such as the 10,000- 100,000 seater Piemon Arena that has now been completed, and a Museum of Python Heritage, including the resting place of the dead parrot. Also, the is the former bases of the Judean People's Front and the People's Front of Judea (who have both now moved to the nation of New Jeruselam for religious reasons) as well as the Castle Anthrax (There is a dress code to go into the castle, as you have to wear no clothes to be admitted). Many sandy beaches are waiting for you if you wish to relax and cool off.

The actual awards and opening and closing ceremonies shall be held in the Piemon Arena, with some select films, while the main screenings of films will be held in the Silly Walks Amphitheatre, based on original Greek designs from 400 BP, but upgraded constantly to remain up to date.

Accomodation, Major Restarants and Transportation:
The "Lumberjack Lodge" is just one of the vibrant hotels surrounded by secluded forests and to eat out, I would recommend the "Fourchette Malpropre", with the fantastic boeuf en croute and the pheasant à la reine, with the sauce being one of the chef's most famous creations.
You can travel around in many forms of transportation, such as by bus, plane, bicycle, taxi or limosine but all other cars shall made illeagal for the duration of the festival.

The Great Monty Python

I am submitting a film to be entered into the FAME Awards on behalf of Sir Edward Ross.

Title: Tea Maker

Awards Nominating for: Best Picture, Best Classic Picture, Best Original Score, Best Comedy and Best Documentary

Director: Sir Edward Ross

Runtime: 132 minutes

Country: The Great Monty Python

Language: English

Year Made: 1 BP

Genre: Documentary / Comedy

Rating: R+15

Major Cast List: Edward Ross (as himself)
Other Cast Members are not allowed to be named, but includes Directors, Actors, Extras and Producers, all playing themselves.

Plot Outline: This follows a year of Edward Ross's life, when he was a tea boy on many different films, and he is in the room and overhears many comedic and real events, such as fake rumours being spread about the actors from the extras, bribing the director for extra lines and producers trying to make more money with a flop than they would with a hit.

Director: Sir Edward Ross

(If any) Songs Written by: N/A

Music Composer: Arthur Ewing

Why the film should be nominated for these awards:

Best Picture/Best Classic Picture - Because it was a film that started the booming Great Monty Python film industry. It's use of comedy in real situations prompted comedians such as Sasha Baron Cohen and Monty Python. Also, it had a humorous take on the film industry that prompted many other film makers to start a career in a job that was then known to be dull and boring.

Best Comedy- Many people had done stand up acts before, but the film takes comedy into the real world, with real people being humiliated by comedy.

Best Documentary- Before this, documentaries were just archive footage with a voice-over attached. Now this film gets real life and makes it funny.

Best Original Score- This film had music that was made with just one instrument, but layered notes reused different times. Also, Arthur Earwig used music that fitted in with different situations, was quite new and different when made.

This can also be used as a guideline for people unsure about what to write.

Title: The Lord of the Twins

Director: Richard Bigg

Runtime: 117 min.
Country: Spruitland
Language: English
Year: Last year, whatever that translates to in silly alien calendars.
Genre: Action/Adventure, Special Interest
Rating: G in Spruitland, R+18 in the rest of the world.

Major Cast List: Sherri Love, Richard Bigg, Gary Girth, Miranda Bend, Sophie Blue

Plot Outline: When Julie (Love) and Jenny (Love), simple farm girl twins, take a break from life at the marihuana plantation and visit the big city, little do they know it will change their lives forever. They are spotted by the all-seeing eye of Mohnor (Bigg), a wealthy televangelist with an unsatiable passion for Twins, who sees them as the missing pièce de résistance of his collection.
Chased by Mohnor’s minions, Julie and Jenny embark on a journey through Spruitland. They are swept from one perverse adventure into another, until they realize there’s only one thing they can do. They team up with a healthy cable repair guy (Girth), and visit Mohnor in his mansion (with swimming pool, jaccuzi, sauna and beach volleyball court) in the hills, to free dozens of naked Twins from his evil spell.

Nominations + Motivation:

Best Film: Breaking box office records and DVD sales all over Spruitland, surely so many viewers can not be wrong. The Lord of the Twins is an engaging story that leaves no man untouched. A very high production value and gripping performances of the entire cast make this an unforgettable movie experience.

Best Original Screenplay: Richard Bigg. Behind all the amazing cinematography, the true reason why this movie reaches inside you and changes you forever, is the strength of its story. LOTT deals with a topic that is close to all our hearts: hot, nude twins. With surprizing twists and unpredictable turns, it takes you on a ride that surpasses your wildest imagination. Oh yeah, and there’s something about good vs. evil as well.

Best Director: Richard Bigg. It becomes clear from the opening scene that this movie is the work of a man with a vision, of a man with the ability to touch our deepest emotions, to see what lives in the heart of the common man, and translate it to the screen.

Best Actor: Richard Bigg. Never has a movie villain been portrayed so compellingly. While Mohnor is clearly a man with a great evil in his every atom, one can not help but to identify with the desire and motivation of this character.

Best Actress: Sherri Love. In a truly memorable double role as Jenny and Julie, a pair of simple farm girls who need to reach deep inside themselves and overcome many huge, throbbing obstacles, Love will have you weeping, screaming, cheering and panting at the movie screen.

Best Supporting Actor: Gary Girth. With apparent ease, Girth brings the role of Cable Repair Guy to amazing new heights. Over and over and over again. Until you think he really doesn’t have anything more in him, and then he surprises you with yet another splashing scene. Respect.

Best Supporting Actress: Miranda Bend. While having limited screen time and no actual dialogue, Bend’s double role as the mute, obedient twins who overcome their unquestioning obedience and prove to possess a remarkable physical and mental agility was simply breathtaking.

The producers will gladly allow the movie to be shown during the festival. Cast members are also available for live performances, both public as private.

Title: THE NIGHT SANTA WENT CRAZY
Award(s) Nominating for: (BEST Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Special Effects, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor)

Runtime: 1hr:58min (118min)
Country: QAZOX
Language: English
Year Made: 37 AM/ 1917 Qazoxian year
Genre: Genre: Drama (Sub Genre: Horror)
Rating: R+18 Worldwide/ NC-14 Qazox
Major Cast List: Santa: Kyle Torver; Mrs. Claus: Rene Higgs; Dr. Juila Guila: Drew Sandler; Jack the Ripper: Adam Barrymore
Plot Outline: Santa Claus has a nervous breakdown on Christmas Eve and checks himself into an Insane Asylum. Its up to Dr. Juila Guila and her controversial Memory Holographic Projector to find out what's wrong. What she finds is a jumbled mess of memories, most of which seem to point out that Santa's not as nice as every one believes.
(TAGLINE: HE KNOWS WHEN YOU'VE BEEN BAD OR GOOD...BUT IS HE?)
Director: BRIAN HOROWITZ

Why the film should be nominated for these awards:

Best Director,This is Brian Horowitz' first foray into serious films, after spending the last 7 years shooting music videos for Rappers.

Lead Actor: Kyle Torver, best known for his starring role in the long time Qazoxian sitcom, What the Hell?, finally breaks free of his type-casting as a "whacky-neighbor" for the last 12 years. Has won the Golden Calf and Goran awards for this role. The brilliance of his switching from Jolly to Psychotic during his breakdown, and his portrayal of a man pushed too far by his grief, earned him many critics awards as well.

Lead Actress: Drew Sandler in her debut film delivers a powerful performance as the doctor that has to deal with Santa's breakdown, and has to delve into his dark secret past in order to save Christmas. Was Nominated for a Goran, but lost to Hallie Burton's Mrs. Dingus in Mrs Dingus' Wild Ride.

Supporting Actor: Adam Barrymore has appeard in over 70 films, and delivers a bravado performance as the true source of Santa's breakdown, Jack the Ripper, whose murder of Mrs. Claus started Santa upon his dark path.

Supporting Actress: Rene Higgs, despite only appearing for a total of 15 minutes during the film, this actress, as Santa's one and only love provides a wonderous performance as she was Santa's concience amd guide, until her shocking death.

Best Special Effects: From the seamless CGI of the North Pole, to Victorian London, to the interactions of the Holograms, this film truly shows what a 30 million Zaq (ooc: Qazoxian money) budget can do, and does not dissapoint.

Best Film: Set a new Qazoxian record, beating out "Dude, Where's My Ox?" by taking in over 189 million Zaqs at the box office. Also set records across the Q Continuum for box office revenues. Won a record 9 Golden Calfs, and 8 Gorans.

Best Screenplay: Brian Horowitz not only directed this film, but wrote it as well. His dive into the inner workings of a man pushed to the brink by guilt, grief and anger, plus the redemption Santa, were so well written, the book based on the screenplay shot up to #1 on the Qazoxian Times bestsellers list, and stayed there for 15 weeks.

Title: Forgetting Hope (in English) /Vergessende Hoffnung (in German)

Award(s) Nominating for: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Drama, Best New Picture, Best Special Effects and Best Foreign Language Film

Director: Malcolm Dibley (Assisted by Hans Slovak)

Runtime: 153 minutes (2 hours 33 minutes)

Country: The Great Monty Python

Language: German (with English Subtitles)

Year: 37 AM

Genre: Drama/Action

Rating: R+18

Major Cast List:
Hope Glauben: Elspeth Cameron
Felix Widerstand: Kenneth Colley
Karolina Engel: Avril Stewart
Albrecht Hartmann: Mark Zycon
Viktor Glauben: Neil Johnson
Martina Glauben: Daphne Darling
Sara Glauben: Anna Lanski
Sylvia Glauben: Joyce Pollner

Plot Outline: When Hope is born into a world of fascist poverty, no-one can help her. Her single father, Viktor, an alcoholic, drinks to ignore that his wife has gone and has left her. While her sisters remain and put up with the abuse and violence their father gives them, Hope leaves to try and start a new life. But she doesn't know that she is heading into a worse place, an authoritarian and controlled nation where teenagers are being swept off the streets to advance puberty and create Aryan race of fighters. Does she turn back? Does she turn herself in? Or does she turn herself into someone she's not?

(If any) Songs Written by: N/A

Music Composer: Daniel Armstrong

Plot Written By: Malcolm Dibley (Translated by Hans Slovak)

Why the film should be nominated for these awards:

Best Picture/Best New Picture/Best Drama: It's deep and advanced plot follows the story of one person to show what would happen if no one had any freedom, and if they wanted a "perfect" world. This is the première of Forgetting Hope, so there are no stats about nominations or awards or box office records, but there is a powerful film that will really show the brutality of a controlled world.

Best Foreign Language Film: It's a film that anyone can understand, even without the subtitles, as you can see in the beauty and time taken with each and every scene and the actors expressions and how they say the lines.

Best Special Effects: This film had a small budget for special, computerised effects, because the producers mainly spent on the set, but they had some money left over for visual effects, such as when the oil tanker exploded. I think we should get the award because we used our resources and small budget well.

Best Director: Malcolm Dibley- For an English director, who can only speak basic German, creating a big film with a strong plot was a very hard challenge but with fluent German, Russian, French and English speaker Hans Slovak ready to translate, Mr Dibley can choose the shots and what it looks like, without worrying about the German language.

Best Original Screenplay: Malcolm Dibley/Hans Slovak - Malcolm Dibley wrote the script and plot in English, while Hans Slovak translated it into German. A fantastic joint effort, to create an excellent script that includes a secret resistance force rising up against the dominant force.

Best Leading Actor: Kenneth Colley - Kenneth plays Felix Widerstand, another teenager who is 19 years old who is against Hartmann's ways of ruling, so he set up a resistance to counter his ways and when Karolina introduced Hope to him, after not thinking much of her at first, he eventually lets her into the r. He tries to negotiate by putting his team undercover into government, but will he be forced to use violence?
He can play a leader very well, despite of his age (he is actually 18 years old), but you may know him from the theatre musical "Spamalot", the nation's favourite musical.

Best Leading Actress: Elspeth Cameron - What an actress. She plays Hope Glauben and is even younger than Felix, at 13 years old, and her emotional battle with her father was very well portrayed and you can really believe in the pain that she faces. You follow her all the way through the film, and really get to know her. She has been an extra on many films and television shows, and can actually speak German.

Best Supporting Actor: Mark Zycon - He plays the dictator Albrecht Hartmann who wants to create mighty fighters quickly so he can have a big army rule all nations. He absorbs the role, and as it his his first film role, before just doing voices for animations, he has done very well.

Best Supporting Actress: Avril Stewart - The 14 year old resistance fighter Karolina Engel, is who Avril plays. Karolina acts like a tomboy and will do anything to reclaim and save her family, as anyone who oppresses what Hartmann is doing, like Engel's family gets captured. She managed to escape and now works with Felix and other freedom fighters who are all in hiding or are working undercover. This is Avril's first professional acting role, only appearing in school plays before.

All the actors will be appearing in a promotion for the festival, and would any other actors from any other films like to take part?

Title: Extinction
Director: Andrew Trendwood
Runtime: 133 minutes
Country: Bazalonia
Language: English
Year: 37 AM
Genre: Sci-fi Thriller
Rating: +15R
Major Cast List:

David Kantwell as Captain Robert Ford
Wolfgang Omozer as XO Trevor Lents
Julia Romera as "Joan"
Jonathon Ecklton as Private 1st Class Gunther

Plot Outline: A Spaceship that has no home; hurtles through Space, the BSFS Trivali contains the only known survivors of the human race as a not fully understood global catastrophe, known as "The Reckoning" destroyed everyone else. After years of manging to eek out an existance in the unknown frontier that is space, however they soon learn that Something is trying to finish the job. and whatever it is is on their ship.

Songs Written and Composed by: Alfred Heatherton
Screenplay written by: Edgar Lei and Racheal Blomington

Nominations:

Best Director: Andrew Trendwood, Despite the meshing of these two Genre's the director has infact unified the Sci-fi aspects with the Thriller aspects so convincingly and so uniformly that it is like its it's own Genre. Also the direction and quality control that Andrew has placed into the film makes it all feel as if anthing could happen at almost anymoment.

Best Leading Actor: David Kantwell, David Kantwell, fleshed out the character of Captain Robert Ford bringing a life to the character, the emotion of this character is protrayed so well while still acting as a rock for all the other characters to rely on throughout the film.

Best Supporting Actor: Wolfgang Omozer, In a step away from his comical area of specialty Wolfgang Omozer was a weird choice by the Director but it paid off, showing his serious side Wolfgang pulls off a harden combat verteran with all the experience needed to be able to kill a person 100 different ways with a single blade. It is infact due to this character and his battle-sense of humour, humour that most people would find disgusting, that provides the needed release of tension every so often in the film.

Best Actress: Despite only appearing as a Hologram Julia Romera, plays her part well, Understanding the technical details and anything that she can quantify or use a formula for she presents as totally clueless in regards to many of the more aspects of relations. Which she does to a tee.

Best Picture/Sci-fi/Thriller: A Cunningly crafted well paced Thriller with elements of Sci-fi so finely interwoven into the scene and the script that the beleivability, or lack their of, of the various sci-fi elements never. The balance is very good as it builds the tension to well past nail-biting and then releases it, making good use of Wolfgang's comedy background to acheive this at times. Up until the final scene where everything is resolved, expect to go through a rollacoster of twists and turns with many red herring clues buried with the real clues as to what exactly is happening and then even at the end... expect the unexpected.

Best Special Effects: This movie is well endowed with Special effects from the final battle scene to the myriad of futuristic devices onboard the ship to the spaceflight and space itself. This movie had an extremely large special effects budget and with most of the work being based digitally and using the latest in technology (including the PhysiK chip) It shows in the detail and quality of every single one, however while managing to keep the attention on the human (and potentially non-human) element of this movie.

Why the film should be nominated: The film is a beautifully moving story about a young hero's struggles to fight against a corrupt society and help an impoverished people. Title: Just Another Day at the Office
Director: Florida Hampton
Runtime: 115
Country: Bazalonia
Language: English
Year: 33 AM
Genre: Action
Rating:+15R
Major Cast List:

Mary Knotoss as Helen Degeneress
Matthew Alex as Agent for Organisation #1
Richard Engle as Agent for Organisation #2
Barry Humphrey as Agent for Organisation #3 (BSIO)
Julian Rather as Ronan Degeneres

Plot Outline: When Helen, a woman who works for a large ficticious bank, gets thrusted with a briefcase, her life suddenly goes from dull and boring to dangerous and exciting as 3 different organisations try to get the case from her. One of them, is the BSIO, the Bazalonian Security and Inteligence Office, but can they be truly trusted? Managing to escape situations with her quick logic and extreme dexterity Helen must work out what secrets the briefcase holds, who she can trust and still still survive at the end of the day when everything is said and done. For Helen, this is not Just another day at the office.

Songs Written by: Daniel o'Stone
Music Composer: James Keel

Nominations:

Best Picture/Best Clasic Picture/ Best Action: Not *just another* action film that contains no plot and loads of explosions and wacky stunts the "Just Another Day at the Office" builds greatly upon the character of Helen and the reasoning behind the action. Also containing elements of a thriller in determining exactly which organisation is out to kill Helen. This movie draws you into the world that it creates and you take each step of the journey with Helen as she reveals the secrets of the underworld.

Best Leading Actress (Mary Knotoss): Capturing the view of life of the Character, when Helen is pushed she pushes back harder. Unwilling to relent nor waver under preseure from what seem immense Odds, Mary Knotoss Brilliantly plays the unwilling but determinedly strong heroine completing her tasks. Mary provides the character with great personal strength, supported by her religious beliefs. manages to get through the many deadly and dangerous situations that arise usually by the skin of her teeth. However the unwillingness to be put in the situation she finds herself in continues to crop up throughout the story.

Best Director: The stunning visuals of this movie are not the result of special effects, most of the stunts where infact done by the character's themselves, of course after a long and intensive course. What makes this movie standout is it's cinematography, creative uses of angles and positioning, as well as scalings make the stunts appear much more dangerous than they really were, (mainly closer as well). This would not have happened with the inspiration of Florida Hampton.

Best Original Song: "Hero for a Day", a song thatis used during the movie when Helen was setting up and leading the various agents into a trap. A longer version also played during the credits as Helen returned back to her life in the bank. The work had not changed but Helen certainly has. It's up-beat music tempo and words of encouragement and strength seem to hint that anyone casn be a real hero should they know the right thing to do and persue it doggedly.

Title:The Prop
Director: Andrew Trendwood
Runtime: 1 hr 55 minutes
Country: Bazalonia
Language: English
Year: 21 AM
Genre: Comedy
Rating: +15R
Major Cast List: Wolfgang Omozer as Hector Davidson, Reginald Santini as Agent 42 and Arnold Ruzzwald as Agent 255
Plot Outline: A Theartrical Propmaster, Hector Davidson, has been tasked with supplying props for a hideously bad and over the top sci-fi theatrical production which requires the creation of a time machine prop. Not finding anything that fits what is required Hector Davidson build his own time machine prop out of house hold items which turns out to be an actual working time machine. He discovers this but has to hide the truth about his creation from not only the people involved in the theatrical play but 2 bumbling government agents stumble across it during the plays opening night. And so Hector must do his job as propmaster, ensure that it doesn't go off during the middle of the play and ensuring that the agents don't catch a wiff that something is up. This leads to many comical situations. Sexual References abound.

Songs Written by: Manny Jefferson
Score Composed by: Blake Rosse

Screenplay by: Lucas Jamieson and Wolfgang Omozer

Best Comedy/Clasic/Picture: Wolfgang Omozer shows his immpecible comic timing throughout this movie, the situation varies dramatically in a few seconds through various comic tehniques. "And the Space Belle Tolled" and it's own sense of absrudist humour. Audiences may not know which way is up as the goalposts are frequently changed but despite being upside-down or topst-turvey the audiences still laugh as anything.

Best Leading Actor: Wolfgang Omozer, Wolfgang is the one that makes this movie shine, his reactions, his expresions and his pure fear and desperation throughout provide the solid comical backbone where all the site-gags and jokes get hung off.

While this film has heavy use of special effects 12 years is a long time in the Special effects industry and so The Prop will not be entered into the Special effects Category.

OCC: There seems to be some confusion about the schedule. The schedule is only a layout of the days right now, it doesn't have set dates at the moment. Please vote for what dates you would prefer to hold the festival on. The schedule in the 2nd post has been deleted.

There is also an RP Thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=511344) for those interested. It could increase your chances of winning a FAME Award.

I am just adding "The Prop" and "Out of Sight", from Bazalonia and Quakmybush respectively, to the list.

He accepts and can get the documents back, but he discovers that the company’s intentions are evil and somehow linked with some people that disappeared after seeing a show of one of the most famous magicians of the country, Relâmpago, who created all the tricks of his show, who can be involved too. Everything gets worse when the woman who stole the documents(Cristina Marçal) was killed, and that he is the main suspect. Now he must decide if he’ll deliver the documents and respect his word, or if he’ll investigate it to do the right thing.

Songs Written by: Leandro Mordaz and Rafaela Serqueira.
Music Composer: José Camargo Úrsul.
Plot Written By: Paul Badder.

Why the film should be nominated for these awards:

Best Picture/Best New Picture/Best Action: It’s a very interesting film, showing the corruption of the police of the city, that is influenciated by the company to chase Ivan and an interesting history, simple but interesting and full of action. Ivan’s doubt about what will he do, divided between keeping his word and doing his work, even knowing that he is working for an evil company, or investigating the actions of his employers to do the right thing, against the police and betraying the ones who payed him.

Best Foreign Language Film: Many countries will identify themselves with the city shown in the film, with the corruption and the depreciation of the human rights. It’s also a film that most people will enjoy, as it isn’t very difficult to understand and is well made.

Best Special Effects: Thanks to the giant budget for special effects, the producers of the film could create spectacular scenes, using all the modern technology for high quality and realistic effects, as the film has a lot of action. The chases and the explosions are very detailed, and the scenery is also very detailed and beautiful.

Best Director: Fernando Mendez Sodré – Sodré had lots of problems with the government and the police to make this film, as it shows something that happens in some places of the country, where the big companies control the police. But even with enemies, he had the courage to make this film and transformed it in a good film.

Best Original Screenplay: Paul Badder – One of the best writers of the country, Professor Paul Badder was able to unite action, mystery and politics to create this fun and provocative film, that doesn’t show a hero. Ivan Rassel is just a common man, who has to decide between doing what he promised or doing the right thing.

Best Leading Actor: Eric Grandus - Grandus is very famous for his evil characters, but this time he is playing the detective Ivan Rassel, a decadent detective who wants a new case at all costs. The film shows what are Rassel’s doubts, and Grandus makes an excellent work showing with his performance all the difficulties of being an enemy of something more important than him. But he isn’t good only in these scenes. He is also great in the action scenes, and showed extreme ability in fighting and in other scenes. He is 51 years old.

Best Leading Actress: Luciana Medorato – Letícia is a very important character. She is the assistant of Rassel, and the detective asks for her advices many times on the film. She shows all the knowledge of the character with a very calm and convincing performance, being the responsible for most of the changes that happen during the film. Luciana also shows that Letícia is worried about Ivan, and she wants him safe. She participates in few action scenes. She is 32 years old.

Best Supporting Actor: Alfredo Czics – The most mysterious character of the film, Relâmpago, is a very intelligent magician who can create new tricks using simple ideas. His show is one of the most famous on the country. When Ivan starts to investigate him, he is extremely cynic and arrogant. Alfredo can show all the sarcasm and selfishness of the character, and most of the people that saw the film became very impressed with him. He is 48 years old.

Best Original Song: “Juiz Implacável” – This song was written and interpreted by Rafaela Serqueira, a famous singer. The song was made especially for the film. It’s language is portuguese, but has a very nice instrumental part in the middle of the song. It’s a fast song with good lyrics.

* This film can be shown at the festival.

(OOC: no problem about the foreign language film nomination being rejected, I just didn't know exactly how a film could be considered foreign. And another thing: please just remove Alfredo Czics from the list of Best Supporting Actress. He must stay only in the Best Supporting Actor list. thanks.)

Cafundéu's second nominated film:

Title: The Lonely Millionaire (English Version) / O Milionário Solitário (Portuguese Version)

Director: Paul Badder.
Runtime: 130 minutes (two hours and ten minutes).
Country: Cafundéu.
Language: Portuguese (with English subtitles or English Version).
Year: 7 years ago(30 AM).
Genre: Romance.
Rating: G.

Major Cast List:
Ernesto Alamedas as Mark Manei
Fernanda Duarte as Carla Pinheiros
Bárbara Aparecida Cruz as Janaína Vasconcelos
Paul Badder as Mr. Danúbio
Luísa Mendes as Gleide Massa (the maid)
Priscila Tarnivelle as Harolda Pinheiros

Plot Outline: Mark Manei is a rich businessman who is married with the selfish Janaína Vasconcelos. He knows that his wife is only married to him because of his money, but he doesn’t mind about it and think that his relationship with her is very good. Mr. Danúbio, his best friend, and Gleide Massa(the maid) are worried about Manei’s life, as the businessman works all the time and doesn’t go out very much. One day they convince Mark to spend one week alone in another city, to relax. In this week, he meets Carla Pinheiros, a simple woman. He falls in love with her, but she is exactly the opposite of Janaína, only wanting a quiet life. They decide to stay together after the week ends, and Mark separates from Janaína to stay with Carla. Janaína becames furious and start trying to get Mark’s money, while Carla has difficulties in adapting to the life of Mark. Will Janaína find a way to get the money that she wanted? And will Carla adapt herself to the businessman’s life?

Songs Written by: Luísa Mendes.
Music Composer: Karl Schnafner.
Plot Written By: Paul Badder and Simon Gaspar.

Why the film should be nominated for these awards:

Best Picture/Best Classic Picture/Best Romance: The plot is very interesting and some moments of the film are very touching. Mark is a man who thought that he had all that he wanted, but he didn’t realize that his wife wasn’t the companion that she should be. When he went to another city to relax, he discovers that he can have a real companion, and Carla is the one. He gains more life, more will to live and fight for his happiness.

Best Director: Paul Badder – Badder decided to make a simple film using his own resources. All the money spent to make this film was given by Badder. He also knew how to explore all the scenes of the film and how to extract the maximum of the actors.

Best Leading Actor: Ernesto Alamedas – Alamedas wasn’t very famous before this film, but he made a great job. As Mark Manei, he represented very well the character of a rich businessman looking for someone special. In the scenes where he discussed with Janaína he was great too.

Best Supporting Actress: Bárbara Aparecida Cruz – As the “villain” of the movie, Bárbara really seemed selfish, despising Carla and wanting the money of Manei. Janaína Vasconcelos, her character, has a very strange mood, as she sometimes is very calm and sometimes very angry.

Best Original Score: Karl Schnafner – Schnafner made a great job creating many slow music for this film. He also made a theme for Manei’s corporation that illustrated very well the style of his work. Also the music made for Janaína and for Carla represented very well the characters.

* This film can be shown at the festival.

Best Director: Mun Na-çun managed a small budget but made it look large, he made the movie very suspenseful and scary, he did a great job in developing characters in the movie.

Best Leading Actor: Craig Briggs played a deranged serial killer hell bent on killing over 100 people. He plays the character perfectly, with a tonne of emotion going into every scene.

Best Song: "God Can't Help You Now" By Black Children. At the climax of the movie, this song is blaring, the thrashing guitars, heavy bass and amazing drum beats gets the movie-goers excited.

Best Special Effects: With a limited budget, the special effects experts made everything almost look real. Many people puked at the sight of the ghastly images, thinking they were real. The blood was some of the most real looking in the world.

Here is some more information about some lesser known awards, that there are no nominees for, so sorry Az-cz. Any film can win these, and they are organised by the festival, not the FAME Awards:

Best In Festival: This Award is decided by the panel of the festival, and this is the only film that can have only one recipient.

"Sir Edward Ross" Lifetime Achievement Award: This is judged by the jury of the festival, to the person, family for series of films that has made the best contributions to film.

Also new awards, that have not been mentioned before, will be announced later today at about 10:30am today (OOC: In the RP thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=511344)).

Also I would like to remind participents that:
*Up to five films can be nominated from each nation.
*The poll will close on the 31st December at 11pm (GMT).
*I need to know who and how many people are coming to the festival from each nation. Up to 300 tickets can be given to each nation. A separate thread will be created for ticket allocation.
*(OOC: The RP Thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=511344) is still open!)

That's quite enough threads on this subject. We understand that you're excited about your idea, but four threads is overdoing it. And that doesn't count the thread advertising this thread that I already deleted. Chill out, wouldja?

And another thing: please just remove Alfredo Czics from the list of Best Supporting Actress. He must stay only in the Best Supporting Actor list. Please put in the "Best Original Screenplay" list the name of Paul Padder for his work on "The Detective".

Done. Sorry about the mistake.

Bears Armed
22-12-2006, 17:49
Bears Armed will be submitting a film that we already entered unusccesfully in
Baranxtu's Golden Tiger Award (http://z10.invisionfree.com/IDU/index.php?showtopic=910) contest for ‘Best Foreign Movie’ earlier this year...

Title: ''The Bad News Bears: Running The Roads!"
Awards nominated for: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Leading Actor (Greggo), Best Leading Actress (Ursula Black), Best Supporting Actor (Arrahd o Matt-Greenwoods), Best Documentary, Best Original Song ('Running The Roads'), Best Original Score, Best Romance, Best New Picture.
Director: Raggurr o Westwood.
Runtime: 210 minutes (but designed to be shown in 3 parts @ 60, 90, 60).
Country: Bears Armed.
Language: Ursine, with subtitles* (for the version sent abroad) in English.
Year made: 36PY.
Genre: Documentary, Romance, Thriller.
Rating: PG-12 in Bears Armed, probably +15R elsewhere.
Major Cast list:
Greggo = himself (leader of the Bad News Bears),
Ursula Black = 'the Girl'
Arrahd o Matt-Greenwoods = Marrgur the Teacher
Ripper = himself (one of Greggo's lieutenants)
Basher = himself (one of Greggo's lieutenants)
Urrgan o Wildwoods = Sherrif Urrgan of Reeds-dale.
Plot Outline: This is a dramatised documentary about one of Bears Armed's largest & most notorious biker gangs. It tells the tale of an eightday in the lives of a troop from the 'Bad News Bears', and how their actions during that time affect various outsiders including a corrupt sherrif... There's a romantic/tragic subplot featuring a biker girl (simply called 'the Girl', played by an actress named 'Urrsula Black' whom I forecast we'll see much more of in future) and a schoolteacher who's drawn into joining the gang so that he can be closer to her...
Director: Raggurr o Westwood.
Songs writen by: Jaggurr o Westwoods.
Music composer: Jaggurr o Westwoods.

Why the film should be nominated for these awards =
Best Picture / Best Director: Raggurr has achieved a wonderful blending of fact & fiction here, showing how the cycle gangs work without glamourising them and creating a really thrilling story at the same time.
Best Leading Actor: Despite this being his first appearance in front of the camera (apart from in 'mug shots'...) Greggo manages to shift seamlessly between filling his normal role as this troop's real-life leader and acting that role in the fictional scenes, and projects an aura of brooding toughness & danger -- contained by a keen sense of personal honour -- that has already made him a heart-throb to many people since this film's release.
Best Leading Actress: Ursula Black, also in her first professional acting job (because Raggurr specifically wanted an unknown face for 'the Girl', fills her role so convincingly that it's hard to believe she's neither a biker nor in love with either of the male leads in real life.
Best Supporting Actor: Arrahd o Matt-Greenwoods, a veteran actor, brings his experience into play as the lovelorn teacher who finds true love in middle age. The scene where he sacrifices his life to kill the sherrif, so that the Girl can escape with Greggo whom she's decided she prefers to him, must not be missed.
Best Documentary: We just think that it is...
Best Original Song: 'Running The Roads' became an immediate hit when the film was released, and was actually considered as a possibility for our entry in the [2nd] NSvision Song Contest.
Best Original Score: Jaggurr adds traditional Ursine motifs to the Human 'Rock' style that the gangs like in a way that appeals to members of both peoples.
Best Romance: (See the arguments for 'Best Actress' & 'Best Supporting Actor'...)
Best New Picture: Well, it is new, and with everything that it's got going for it...

(This film can, and we hope will, be shown at the festival.)

(* Unfortunately a few of the subtitles involve minor translation errors, such as one in which Greggo describes his modified bike not as a "chopped hog" but as a "spam" instead, although some outsiders have found these amusing rather than jarring...)

Cafundeu
23-12-2006, 14:38
Cafundéu's last nominated film:

Title: Irritating Traveler (English Version) / Le Voyageur Irritant (French Name)

Award(s) Nominating for: Best Foreign Language Film, Best Original Song, Best Musical, Best Comedy, Best New Picture, Best Original Score and Best Animated Feature(if it’s possible to be nominated to three genre categories – if not remove Best Animated Feature).

Producer: Jacques Alívio.
Runtime: 99 minutes (one hour and thirty-nine minutes).
Country: Cafundéu.
Language: French (with Versions in other languages).
Year: Last year.
Genre: Comedy/Animated Musical.
Rating: G.

Major Cast List(Voices – can change depending on the version):
Marcel Lasleville as Phillipe Catastrophe
Sofia Nerri as Camille Ágreau
Dante Duarte as Zezinho
Arthur DeMarch as Mr. Coitado
Natalie Petrot as Mrs. Coitado

Plot Outline: Phillipe, Camille and Zezinho are friends, and they decide to go spend their vacations in a luxurious hotel near the beach of a strange country. When they reach the hotel, Zézinho(the “irritating traveler”) starts to deceive his friends with tricks. Phillipe and Camille don’t imagine that Zezinho is deceiving them, and they believe in Zezinho’s lies. In the middle of the film, Zezinho starts to prepare tricks for Mr. and Mrs. Coitado, who he met at the hotel. After many jokes, Phillipe, Camille, and the couple start to distrust that somebody is boycotting their trip. Zezinho makes Phillipe and Camille believe that Mr. and Mrs. Coitado are the guilty ones, and makes Mr. and Mrs. Coitado believe that Phillipe and Camille are the guilty ones. Then, they start a war of joking tricks until they discover that Zezinho is the one to guilt. All the scenes have lots of music created for the film.

Songs Written by: Group Les Musiciens.
Music Composer: Isidoro Baramés.
Plot Written By: Jacques Alívio and French Produtions.

Why the film should be nominated for these awards:

Best New Picture/Best Foreign Language Film: It’s a very fun comedy, for all the families. The quality of the animations is very good, as the government helped the French to do their work. Zezinho is an unique character, who likes his friends, but can’t resist the urge to deceive them and create a confusion when they should be having fun(Zezinho is having, but not his friends). The creativity of the productors is well explored, and all the music give the movie a nice atmosphere, as the characters sing in most of the scenes. As a foreign language film(French), it can be well accepted in many foreign countries, as is a film that can be enjoyed by all the cultures.

Best Comedy/Best Animated Movie: The scenes when Zezinho develop his plan and the war of joking tricks are very fun. Also, all the music of the movie have some kind of humor. The animated characters are very detailed and we can even get details of their history. Their face and body expressions are also very realist.

Best Musical: All the songs explore well the theme, and the actors’ voices are very good, as they can sing very well. Most of the songs are humorous and related to Zezinho’s tricks. During an important scene, a song comes to illustrate all that happened in the scene, making the movie more understandable.

Best Original Song: “Guerre de Plaisanteries” – This song is of the clímax of the film, when the “war of jokes” start. It’s a very fast and nearly all the actors participate on it. It shows the mood of the characters involved on this scene. Most children like this song very much, and even the older ones seem to choose it as they preferred one in the movie.

Best Original Score: Isidoro Baramés – He was involved in the creation of all the songs of the movie too, but his work in the background music is simply outstanding. He selected well the right moments to put the right music. Many of his music are based in the older comedy movies’ music, but he managed to add a personal thing in all of them.

*This film can be shown at the festival.

Title:

"DRAKLYN"

Director: Jeffrey Breeze

Runtime: 195 minutes(3 hours and 15 minutes)
Country: New Propagandia
Language: Xanthonian(English subtitles avaliable)
Year Made: 34AM
Genre: Fantasy, Action
Rating: R+15
Major Cast List: Hylix of Gainom, Luke Pyre, Sean Derris

Plot Outline:

Lykih the Bortogii is an orphan and the only surving member of his tribe, which was wiped out in a flash flood. He moved to and grew up in the town Caldero(modern day Gainom), pocket-picking on the streets. As he got older he eventually led a gang who were the menance of the town. After his latest robbery of a Noble's Manor went wrong, He and the rest of his gang were caught and all but Lykih were publically executed. However, aware of his skills, Lykih was given a deal. He would be let go and his past crimes would be forgotten if.. He slays the Draklyn, a fierce Demon that lives at the top of Killpeak, it has been terrorising the village and surrounding tribes.

Both deals were execution but seeing as the Draklyn would have a chance of escape Lykih accepted. But the he found out that accompanying him would be the town's best Warrior, Zenitrix the Great. Lykih and Zenitrix must navigate around the Xantho peaks, through the Senederi Forest and to the furthest north of the Xantho peaks - Mount Killpeak. Numerous dangers await them, Demons, Monsters, Disasters and rival Tribes. But, if Lykih slays the Draklyn, will the town of Caldero really keep their word?

Music Composer: Terrus Censor

Why the Film should be nominated for these awards:

BEST PICTURE: This film has set the bar for the New Propagandian scene, being a true classic. It was number one in the New Propagandian scene for two months, with pretty much every citizen in the country watching it at least once. The DVD sold brilliantly and so did the soundtrack. Draklyn is a compelling story, the Xantho Peaks Legend brought to life with nearly no piece left out, thus the long Runtime. With the best special effects of it's time and excellent acting, this is a movie you don't want to look away from and can't forget.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Draklyn is based on, and is the most popular Xanthonian Legend, how an Orphan that no-one cared about and was left to provide his own sustenance suddenly become Caldero's biggest hope, for the Draklyn would destroy Caldero and the other tribes in two winter's time. It taught that you shouldn't judge someone by wealth or strength. With plenty of action mixed with drama as Lykih and the Bortogii's past is explored with lots of fantasy and folklore, this is truely a classic and worthy story.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE: Killpeak Laments. The final battle music as Lykih and the Draklyn fight to the death, with Demon's appearing to defend their Leader and a major battle scene of Humans vs Demon's, this music is dramatic and suits the scene perfectly. It gets every moment right, with drumming and trumpets at the start to violins at the end all excellently played, this score is the most played track on the official soundtrack according to a survey done independantly by the Movie TV Show "Lights, Camera, Critics!".

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: You don't need words the enjoy Draklyn, just to enhance. Breeze directed the film so that you could understand it just by actions and expressions, even the flashback scenes you could tell what was going on, when Lykih was given his deal, the camera made it obvious what they were talking about. Draklyn is a one-in-a-million film and made better by the fact that it is excellent, even if you don't speak Xanthonian.

BEST FANTASY: Draklyn has such a vivid fantasy world, it's the kind you dream of but never see. It's full of Demons, the Draklyn, the Qudin, Guijon Klaich, and as Lykih races through the forest the tree's whisper, they think of their own actions. It has more imagination than Dwarfs, Pixies and Fairies, while it's darker edgier and more sinister it still keeps it's originality. The Owl with a Women's head that haunts Lykih and Zenitrix as they go through the Senedri Forest, and those noises that sound like a baby crying in the night? Those are usually the one's at the top of the food chain. Magic, Demons, and things both ungodly and odd, Draklyn has it all.

BEST CLASSIC PICTURE: Draklyn is the first of hopefully many classic New Propagandian films, and it got the ball rolling. Draklyn really was a great boost to the industry, for inspiration alone, this should be seriously considered for Best Classic Picture. While not that old(only three years ago it was released) the acting is sublime and ultimately Draklyn can be seen as a bar for movies that to be truly classic, they must at least reach Draklyn's level or go higher.

Name: Jeffrey Breeze
Film Worked on: Draklyn
Roles: Director, Writer, Casting.
Award Nominating for: Best Director.
Why this person should be nominated:

This man made Draklyn what it is, also writing the Legend to Movie translation script. He decided to completely stick true to the Legend as best that he could, even convincing the Producers to make it in Xanthonian to make it even more true to the legend. He get the absoloute best out of all of the actors and Draklyn wouldn't have been what it was without him hands down.

Name: Hylix of Gainom
Film Worked on: Draklyn
Role: Lead Actor(Lykih)
Award Nominating for: Best Lead Actor.
Why this person should be nominated:

Draklyn made Hylix a star, and New Propagandia's first actor sensation. But it was mutual with Hylix making Draklyn a classic, the New Propagandian audience had never seen a thief played so well, and when Lykih was stabbed in the right rib, Hylix sold it so realistically you would have thought he really did get his right ribs broken to do it properly. He got the reaction in scenes just right, admitting sometimes that he had trouble getting out of charector after an excellent performance. By being training in Xanthonian Mountain Combat by his Father as a Child he was able to do his own stunts and stayed true to what Lykih said Zenitrix "If you aren't flawless, you aren't good enough."

(I would like you to show this film at the festival as it is the New Propagandian scene's current premier film but I understand if it is too long.)

Altanar will be submitting one film for the festival:

Title: The Long Trip (Ishkala Verikala in Altanari)

Award(s) Nominating for: Best New Picture, Best Original Score, Best Documentary
Producer: Meliath Kreshkal.
Runtime: 1 hr 45 minutes
Country: Altanar.
Language: Altanari (versions in other languages available).
Year: 2006
Genre: Documentary
Rating: PG-12

Major Cast List:
Marisal Celekath

Plot Outline: The Eagle's Backbone Mountains in Altanar are notorious for being incredibly rugged and nearly impassable. The Long Trip chronicles Marisal Celekath's quest to be the first person ever to successfuly hike from one end of the deadly mountain chain to the other. Celekath filmed the movie by himself as he was making the trip. The attempt lasted half a year and covered over 500 miles of some of the most rugged and inhospitable terrain anywhere, with incredible dangers and temperatures ranging from over 110 degrees high to as low as -15 below. When Celekath successfully completed his quest, he was hailed as a national hero.

Score Composer: Ilana Herilas.

Why the film should be nominated for these awards:

Best New Picture: The film provides incredible thrills and spectacular natural cinematography, while chronicling the struggles of one man to survive dangers most people would not be able to endure. It is an inspiring and uplifting film that renews one's sense of what an individual can accomplish.

Best Original Score: Ilana Herilas - This gifted composer uses her music to set the stage for the nearly impossible quest that Celekath undertook. Her sweeping, orchestral score ranges from haunting and frightening to soaring and empowering. The music deftly matches the ups and downs of Celekath's efforts, highlighting the dangerous moments where Celekath's efforts (and life) nearly ended, rising to the triumphant moment when Celekath finally reached the end of the mountain range, above Altanar's capital city, and descended to a hero's welcome.

Best Documentary: Armed with just a set of cameras, Celekath captured the natural beauty and dangers of the mountains with a keen eye few could match. Without the benefit of a huge budget or special effects, Celekath let the world around him tell the story. His film also provides a view of scenery and amimal life that few have been able to witness in such stunning detail. Celekath also chronicles the lives of small bands of hardy tribes of people that manage to survive in these mountains, living under no authority but their own and that of their harsh home. His film provides a view of a world few will be privileged enough to witness.

This film can be shown at the festival.

Title:

"TEN DAYS AND COUNTING"

Awards Nominating for: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Drama and Best New Picture

Director: Ricardo Gregosa
Runtime: 157 minutes(2 hours and 37 minutes)
Country: New Propagandia
Language: English
Year: 37AM
Genre: Drama
Rating: R+15
Major Cast List: Luke Pyre, Horació Sanchez, Gaius Caldex, Emily Cross, George Vilner

Plot Outline:

In an emergency news broadcast, citizens find out that the World has only ten days to live before a titanic comet wipes it out. And it can't be stopped. After a while spent in sorrow, with no future to plan for, New Propagandians start wasting money and fulfilling their desires, what they'd always dreamed of as we see what happens to the city of New El Dorado when it's citizen's have ten days to live. Adrian Wolman(Pyre) and his five friends rush a stage prepared for a rock band and play live infront of a sell-out 5, 000 crowd(though by not necessarily friendly means). Aldo Eridinya(Sanchez) decides to use his inheritance to live like a King for his last ten days.

Meanwhile Dennis Holt(Caldex) realises his prediction has come true and escapes the Insane Asylum to try and preach his rantings that he claims will save the world. Victoria Roads(Cross) decides to be free of the Female inequality that strifes New Propagandia and runs away from home, to experience the rights that Women are so often not allowed. Meanwhile Thomas Wings(Vilner), an old age pensioner, claims that this is just the Propaganda that this nation is famed for and decides to live life as normal. New El Dorado quickly descends into chaos, after all. When there's nothing to stop you but approaching death, chaos can only ensue.

Music Composer: Roy Gilton

Why this film should be nominated for these awards:

BEST PICTURE: This movie is like a window into another dimension, one where the World is said to be going to die. The camera work is flawless and the acting is superb. This movie really gets to you, when the tragedy's occur it pulls at your heartstrings, when comedy ensues you burst out laughing. And most importantly at the end it leaves you worrying what may happen if a comet really is predicted to destroy the earth. Ten Days and Counting makes you want to see the whole countdown, and at the end makes you hope that Wings is right and the comet really is propaganda.

BEST DRAMA: As people attempt to survive the chaos as the police become overpowered and rules are forgotten, as Holt walks through the ruined and burning city you can't help but gasp as a Man mourns his dead family, who were lost when a mob surrounded their house and burned it to the ground, weep as the Police finally kick into action, but only eight drunk ones who "save" the crowd from Wolman and friend's guitar playing and won't listen to reason, loading to a shoot-out and mass murder. Meanwhile the house-burning mob fueled by more drunken leaders decides that Erindinya and his family have it too good and make a move on his mansion. But finally the suspenseful moment as people gather around the city centre at six o'clock to countdown to the end of the world.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: With a unique idea well-executed, this really does have "Original Screenplay" written all over it and it very much can qualify for the Best of the best. The writers not only took a unique idea but put it on a canvas and mixed it with drama and chaos, then added some comedy and shock, creating the perfect screenplay for a movie, making more of a rollercoaster, like the one of life, only gone horribly wrong.

BEST NEW PICTURE: Ten Days and Counting takes a unique concept and turns it into something eye-opening, with very good cgi moments, this movie is recent-age excellence in acting and execution. There hasn't been a movie that caused as much of a stir in New Propagandia since Draklyn, and it really explores how shallow human beings can be when they have nothing to do but follow their very dreams and ideas themselves.

Name: Ricardo Gregosa
Film Worked on: Ten Days and Counting
Role: Director
Award nominating for: Best Director
Why this person should be nominated:

Gregosa took the batter the writers and casting had put out for him and made a beautiful cake with marzipan and icing on top. He inspired the actors and got the best out of them, though he has taken a pounding from the media and citizens of New Propagandia for not only taking the daring move to star a Female(of which are currently oppressed in New Propagandia) in a leading role but also giving the women ideas to seek better rights. Of course, this prompted several Feminist strikes as they are spurred on by the movie, and Gregosa has even been threatened that his license to Direct may be revoked. However, directing a film that inspires the Nation and causes mass riots that aren't to do with getting rid of the movie is no mean feat, making Gregosa a star Director in New Propagandia.

Title: The Religious War
Director: Artas Dironior
Runtime: 3 hours, 43 minutes
Country: Yafor 2
Language: Jakallan
Year: 37 AM
Genre: Historical (sub-genre: Drama)
Rating: +15R, for medium violence, sexually suggestive scenes
Major Cast List: Corvan Ji'id, Artas Dironior, Clia Franeria (female), Jarin Vanema, Ruhania Kudra (female), Haem Kortus
Plot Outline:

Artas Dironior stuns in his directorial debut in the historical adventure The Religious War. It tells the story of the Late Jakuriat Emperor Giron III (Vanema) and his quest to obey the High Korut of the Jakallan Faith (Dironior, in an excellent performance as always) to destroy the heretical Asim Poloar (Kortus). The story is further complicated by the fact that Poloar's sister (Franeria),one of the emperor's mistresses, is also the wife of the general that the emperor has assigned to the task (Ji'id) and that the emperor's most favored wife (Kudra) knows that only bad things can come out of this liaison.

The story begins with the emperor as a young man, being taught in the ideals of the Jakallan Faith. He is a willing convert, and though his playmate, the general later assigned to the war does not believe in some of the more far-fetched aspects of the religion, he does. Their tutor, a strong, dark, and seemingly-trusting man assumes the throne of the High Korut, the highest office in the Jakallan Faith. As the film skips twenty years, one is left with the feeling that something has to go wrong. And something does.

The film then shows the marriage of Franeria and Ji'id. They are shown as happy, but as the camera pans onto Vanema's face, if is full of anger and grief. It is obvious that he covets Franeria, despite the fact that he has his own beautiful wife on his side. The next scene shows Vanema and Dironior together discussing the Poloar rebellion. The High Korut speaks frankly to the emperor and then tells him to attack the enemy leader. The emperor, seeking to kill two birds with one stone (and get his friend's wife) sends Ji'id to fight the enemy.

The battle scenes seem strained in the movie. Haem Kortus, in a cameo role as the infamous Asim Poloar, is usually the focal point for the quick scenes of battle. The rating comes in the aftermath. Ji'id is thunderous as the general who does not wish to fight, the general who hates his enemy. This is his movie in its entirety. There have been movies about the romantic story of the Poloar insurrection, but few focused on the general himself, preferring to take the heretical bandit's point of view or to follow the story at home.

And therein lies the genius of The Religious War. It has the story and complications, the death of the heretics, the madness of the emperor, his drive for love, the general's lasting strength, and the climactic scene at the end where he murders his friend in the full view of the highest temple in the land. But its greatest strength is that it renders the characters of history in full view, of all their faults, strengths, and hatreds. It is a drama, a story of the human soul, of what depths it will go for religion, love, and hatred. It is an amazing journey, with a powerful central performance by Corvan Ji'id, who is developing into an excellent actor. Jarin Vanema takes his character in all its strengths in an award-worthy performance, and the movie is completed by excellent direction and series of strong supporting performances.

BEST PICTURE: [read the review...I mixed it in there by mistake]

BEST DRAMA: The film provides a window into the torn human soul. It shows the dangers of religion and love and their benefits. When the film reaches its climax, one is drawn into the story of the character and that is where is film holds on. It is story set in history, one of war, but it it a drama of the human soul and its transformation. It is a story of men, not so much of war, and that is where it deserves its classification as a "Drama".

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: It is in Jakallan, the language of the Late Jakuriat dynasty. It is an excellent film and the choice of language, the rhythmic flow of the Jakallan language, and the way the words are used make it deserve this nomination.

Name: Corvan Ji'id
Film Starred In: The Religious War
Award Nominated For: BEST LEADING ACTOR
Why the person should be nominated: Corvan Ji'id rules the screen in The Religious War. He is absolutely astounding. He shows the full range of human emotions from across the spectrum, is entrancing in the way in which his uses his body, and proves that he has learned from his early days as a young actor. He seems haggard and dark, a character torn between his love, his marriage, his religion, and his emperor. Ji'id shows that he has become one of the greatest actors in Yaforite cinema with a dominant performance in The Religious War.

Name: Jarin Vanema
Film Starred In: The Religious War
Award Nominated For: BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Why the person should be nominated: Jarin Vanema is a force to reckoned with in the new movie The Religious War. As the emperor, he is unbending, strong, and utterly astounding, playing the role of a man easily lead by love and religion. It is a character that is totally different from his own life, and yet he is very believable. His eyes are dangerous, cold, and frightening. Those scenes of the film where he stands alone, looking at the destruction that he has wrought, are among the most powerful in the movie.

Why the film should be nominated:

Best New Picutre/Best Picture: This film shows off one of the last ideas of Sir Edward Ross, before he passed away, in style. This is one of the films he always wanted to make, but he waited until the best technology was available to do so. He put a lot of time and effort into this, and he hoped that every scene the thrilling action sequence in Sullivan's efforts to break out, to the personal emotions that he faces are shown in the brilliant Dwaine Dreamer's talent should make it Ross's final triumph.

This film was supposed to be released last year, but with Sir Edward Ross's death the producers delayed it, and eventually decided for the film's premiere be at the festival.
Best Original Screenplay: He wrote his mainly in cafes and hotel rooms when he was touring TGMP, and he watched it turn from a simple idea into what could be a world wide blockbuster. This is a script he spent his life working on, and he was not disapointed as he had wrote in many memorable quotes.

Name: Arthur Ewing
Film worked on and what role he had on the film: Divide (36 AM) - Music Composer
Award Nominating for: Best Original Score

Best Original Score: His was one of his first big budget movies, but he didn't get rid of his world-renowned creativity. The main title music was completed purely out of computer sounds, old and new, and only used the Gumby International Orchester when he needed to.

Name: Dwaine Dreamer
Film stared in and what roles he had on the film: Divide (36 AM) - Actor as "Sullivan Corey"
Award Nominating for: Best Leading Actor

Best Leading Actor: A 20 year old actor, Dwaine was plucked out of theatre bit part roles (in plays such as "Resting or Dead?" and "The Comedy Boys") when he recieved a call from his agent to go to the auditions, as he fitted the description. His acting skills were put to the test but he progressed succesfully to eventually get the part. Also, this is one of his more serious roles seeing as he has only appeared in comedy.

This film can be shown at the festival. It will also be this film's premiere.

"Following the Dream"

Awards Nominating for: Best Picture, Best Classic Picture, Best Director, Best Leading Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Best Musical, Best Drama
Director: Stewart Knowles
Runtime: 165 minutes(2 hours and 5 minutes)
Country: New Propagandia
Language: English
Year Made: 35AM
Genre: Musical, Drama
Rating: +15R
Major Cast List: Harry Yeovil, Majdy Ghasaan, Sean Derris

Plot Outline: Based on a true story. Enter the wrestling scene in New Propagandia, the number of people who don't watch it can be counted on one hand. Like Football it's storming the nation, as promotions spring up all over New Propagandia, one man has a dream to start his own. Jamie Bowyer(Yeovil) has been a fan all his life and runs a fledgling online shop company. One day he decides to trade it all to have a go at chasing his dream, and starts his own promotion, the Neo Proffesional Wresting Federation. With his online company funding him Bowyer gets hold of the top stars 1PW and tries to get them all in the same event together. News spread quickly and soon Bowyer was contacted by the former Kroy(Derris) who retired due to a horrible leg injury, who says that he'll help get the stars over, and give him the experience in the buisness lacking in the NPWF.

The first few shows go ahead to a great reception, it cost alot more than Bowyer expected but though startled he continued on, but meanwhile the other companies react to a new hit. Wajeeh Umaarah(Ghasaan), owner of a small but fledgling promotion despises Bowyer and the NPWF and openly verbally abuses them. Bowyer continues on, despite the ever growing cost, but then Umaarah, fed up with the shockwave made by the NPWF sabotages it's biggest show and starts rumours about NPWF crumbling and Bowyer being a drug addict and putting up his house for mortgage.

Then the empire to-be crumbles as interest rapidly declined as fans believed it was a sinking ship Kroy packs in leaving Bowyer with a massive bill that he didn't realise it was as big. Bowyer had lost just about everything, will there be a miracle for him or will he take the one thing he has left to lose?

Songs Written by: Nikos Decius

Music Composer: Tyrone Kendal

Why this film should be nominated:

BEST PICTURE: Following the Dream miraculously managed to stay afloat during the flood caused by the shockwave that was Draklyn, and was the first possible challenger at that time, Following the Dream literally made just about every audience cry and seethe with rage at the satanically evil Umaarah, completely showing everyone what it really means to be a drama, with the powerful influence of a musical with it and very believable acting. This film is an emotional rollercoaster and truely deserves every success it has.

BEST CLASSIC PICTURE: Following the Dream is a classic, you won't get much better drama and acting than this. You want to weep for poor Jamie Bowyer, destroy that damn Umaarah and feel the aura of despair as Kroy leaves Bowyer in the lurch. Not to mention the outstanding production values, that despite being a film released two years ago still puts recent films to shame in comparison.

BEST MUSICAL: With classic songs such as "Living out the Dream", "Sabotage" and the end song "The Truth about Life". The latter being an inspirational song that touched that nation as Bowyer realised that the truly brave people keep going in life, instead of taking their own and ended up smiling proud of how much he accomplished, heck he had even the legitimate top-dogs of the New Propagandian circuit so worried they'd had to sabotage him. In the end he lost his buisness and was in terrible debt, but he'd lived his dream and someday. He was going to get out of the red and into the black. Also boasting an impressive chorus cast, trained in the best Musical Theatre school in New Propagandia, Cronom Culture and Arts Acting school's Musical Theatre section.

BEST DRAMA: The anger, the emotion, the ups and downs don't just go through the actors, it transfers to the viewers. It's almost as-if the actors aren't actors - they're hosts to raw emotion that flows through the viewers. It's a Rollercoaster ride as Following the Dream shows life, in song and driving in the fast lane!

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Written by Stewart Knowles, Frederick Georgios, Andrew Peterson and Robert Wright. Though based on a true story the impressive writing team added twists and a more elaborate plot, not to mention editing it to be a musical, this has taken the true story and turned it into something else, something enlightening and exciting as it takes a turn into beneath the barrel, how muddy and full of backstabbers the Wrestling world really is. It's a dog-eat-dog world and it takes a journey there to find out how much of one it is.

Name: Stewart Knowles
Film Worked on: Following the Dream
Role: Director, Writer & Casting Director
Award Nominating for: Best Director
Why this person should be nominated:

Knowles moulded, shaped, and directed Following the Dream to perfection, he made sure that he had all the correct cast that he needed, the script that the film needed, the Composer and Music Writer that was needed and directed it to excellence. What he visualised had to come right, and he earned the nickname "The Sergeant" as he usually made the cast do takes of scenes over and over untill he got what he was visioning. He did however allow some creative freedom, as a few times the actors would make mistakes but he'd think "Hmm, that sounds better, let's try that again".

Name: Harry Yeovil
Film Worked on: Following the Dream
Role: Lead Actor(Jamie Bowyer)
Award Nominating for: Best Leading Actor
Why this person should be nominated:

Yeovil worked his absoloute best, coming in every day and working untill he was exhausted, which was needed with a demanding Director such as Knowles. Yeovil put his real emotions into his work and played the part just like the real life equivalent. Yeovil would probably have been in more movies if, because of his stunning performance, he wasn't asked to play Bowyer in the theatrical version.

Name: Majdy Gasaan
Film Worked on: Following the Dream
Role: Supporting Actor(Wajeeh Umaraah)
Award Nominating for: Best Supporting Actor
Why this person should be nominated:

Never before has there been such a hated figure in New Propagandian Cultural history, the man who ruined Bowyer's dreams, Gasaan puts such an instantly unlikeable tone on his charector that you hate him before you even know what he's going to do, and when he does it... Put a screen guard infront of the television, or you'll see objects flying through it in disgust. Gasaan is pretty much unbeatable at the Villain role, and a certain gem in the New Propagandian talent pool.

Name: Nikos Decius
Film Worked on: Following the Dream
Role: Song Writer
Award Nominating for: Best Original Song
Why this person should be nominated:

"The Truth about Life" was beautifully written and executed thanks to Decius, not to mention to other songs of the musical. It was well-written, rhymed, and catchy. The fact that it inspired the nation is proof enough.

Name: Tyrone Kendal
Film Worked on: Following the Dream
Role: Music Composer
Award Nominating for: Best Original Score
Why this person should be nominated:

Kendal absoloutely brought Following the Dream to life, with the beautiful music and symphonies that accompanied the Musical, it was his music that made the part where Bowyer was weeping after the death of his company really effect the audience and make them bring out the Kleenex, the wrestling fight scenes with the dramatic fight music that make the audience want violence and blood. Tyrone Kendal is a musical genius.

You can show this film at the festival.

(OOC: I couldn't help it, there's only one in the category so I had to enter with a very small one. The shortest film in New Propagandian history, since the New Propagandians don't do much other tha nwork, watch their favourite programmes on TV, socialise and go to the movies, if the movie doesn't last long enough then they feel robbed. I hope you're happy about making me type the movie and nominations for half of my day.)

"Titus the Draklyn"

Awards nominating for: Best Horror, Best Foreign Language Film
Director: Dwayne Urbanus
Runtime: 98 minutes(1 hour 38 minutes)
Country: New Propagandia
Language: Xanthonian(English subtitles avaliable)
Year Made: 36AM
Genre: Horror, Independent
Rating: R+18
Major Cast List: Dwayne Urbanus, Kai Collins

Plot Outline: "The Draklyn stalks us all. Fiction or not, you do not want to enter the Killpeak." - Heirro, Leader of the Santii. The year is 34AM. The Xanthonian war is over, and with the victory comes the territory of the Xantho peaks. Titus Cappius(Urbanus), a soldier, is one of the first to explore the famed Mountain of Killpeak. However, by nightfall as he camped there, the blood-drenched moon rose and the Draklyn, a shadow of his former self, stalked Titus and bit him in the heart. Titus became possessed by the Draklyn the next day, Titus went back home to Cronom. Will New Propagandia survive a re-invigorated Draklyn?

BEST HORROR: While the horror niche is almost non-existant in New Propagandia with audiences craved dramas and fantasy's that expand the imagination. Urbanus has always wanted to make a movie based on Draklyn and finally did, capitalising on it's popuarity. It doesn't completely rely on the usual scary music to get the heart pumping or the villain appearing from no-where to make the audience jump, instead it relies on what Urbanus calls "The Chill Factor" with subtle imagines that makes your spine tingle and your blood run cold in fright, for example, when after the Draklyn who was hunting Cappius best friend, Aaron Johnson(Collins), the Draklyn got jammed into an assembly line before Johnson escaped downstairs.

Then suddenly, the Draklyn crawled down the stairs eerily, with a broken arm and leg and a head that was twisted round the wrong way. Then, the head turns and looks at Johnson before leaping over the barrier in the blink of an eye, tearing Johnson's chest out and eating his heart. This film is New Propagandia's current best Horror film according to "Lights! Camera! Critics!" the popular Movie TV show.

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: This film uses Xanthonian like the original movie, the explanation for that is that as the Draklyn is near, people can't help but only talk in Xanthonian, which is claimed in this movie as the most ancient language in the world. And as the Draklyn is in Cronom, they all can't help but speak it. It also warned the Xanthonians that lived near Cronom that the Draklyn had emerged.

Dwayne Urbanus(the owner of the rights to "Titus the Draklyn") has decided that he doesn't want "Titus the Draklyn" to be shown at th eFestival as he has moved on to better things.
