Since there has been 6 Women's World Cups. I think its time the Women had their version of the Cup of Harmony. So the Qazoxian Football Council is intro ducing the Q-CUP. The Q-CUP will be an invitation-only tourney, with 8 teams fighting for the Q-CUP. If there is enough interest for the tourney, more teams will be added. So here are the 8 invitees to the inaugural Tourney will be:

QAZOX- (host) (confirmed)
Jeruselem (confirmed)
Wentland (confirmed)
Sativaville (confirmed due to puppet status)
Rorysville (confirmed)
Starblaydia
Green Wombat (confirmed)
Yafor 2(confirmed)

For this tourney only (i hope) I'm using dice and no RP Bonus or Ranking changes (yet) just Fun in anticipation for the 7th Women's World Cup. All invites please either reply in this thread or TG me in NS. thank you

(ooc: All replies due by December 1st at 8:00 pm EST thanks)

Jeruselem's in, except it's sending in team of giggling pranksters called schoolgirls, since there's no U21 competition for the girls to play in.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE WENTLAND WFA

The Wentland Women's Football Association wishes to express its gratitude to their Qazox counterparts for their invitation to participate in the inaugural Q Cup. The WWFA is happy to accept.

However, it has been a long, hard season in Wentland women's football, with a second final appearance in the World Cup, the Oldhill-Oldfield rivalry reaching a peak and Petterham winning their first ever trophy. Consequently many of the players - most of whom are part-timers - are not in sufficient shape to participate in a further international competition.

Therefore the WWFA has decided to enter its under-18 team for some valuable experience. The squad will be announced in due course but will be led by international captain Anna Kumble, who has her pro licence, and Anne Foy, who is the one player who can understand what they are saying.

The release caused a buzz. The WFA was concerned that it would be seen as a snub by the Qazox hosts, a revenge for yet another defeat at international level.

However many of the junior players were delighted by the prospect of international football. "Yeah, I could do with plenty of experience," smirked Katie Barnfield, breakthrough star at Oldhill and favourite to make the squad.

The Lady Stoners sat and waited for the draw for the 1st Q-Cup, and they were slighty shocked and slightly dissapointed. Head Coach Andrea Childress-Turner had this to say:

"While our group is tough, I personally wanted to test our mettle against the best, namely Qazox. Seeing this is my 1st competition as Head coach, I'd like to see just how far we've come, and how far we still need to go. I hope that somewhere in this tourney we do meet up with my former team, and I guarantee this, they will be surprised as to how well we'll play."

The roster remains mostly un-changed from the last World Cup, witht e only notable chance, besides the coach, being the addition of 2 new players, Helen Herr and Riann Helms. (starters in Bold)

Somewhere in Chepchestershire a letter hit the mat. Also in Loaph and Warpstone and even in the remotest part of Northmere where footy had recently taken off.

Everywhere under 18 girls eagerly ripped open the envelopes. Eagerly they read the contents and cried out in joy. "Mum!!! I'm in!!!"

The squad of Little Tits was henceforth announced...no real surprises, but hopefully massive experience for the young squad.

Especially as they would face the world-cup winning hosts.

At the team hotel Anna Kumble was proud to present to the squad the new, specially designed kit for the Little Tits at their first lunch together:

http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/2666/wentlandlittletzo5.png

"Looks a bit like the Crowhurst kit, that change one," remarked Katie Barnfield.

"Well, maybe it'll make you play like Crowhurst," responded Kumble.

Anna continued, talking about how she hoped how they would represent the Went nation with pride and dignity, how it was a great honour and experience to play in Qazox, how they would be expected to behave with decorum at all times, not talk back to referees, not do anyt-

"FOOD FIGGGHHHHHTTTTTTT!!!!"

Anne Foy had got a bit bored and dumped trifle on Anna Kumble's head. Within seconds custard, cream, jelly and chocolate sauce was flying around the room, with Anne Foy directing each side of the room against the other and getting most of the mess. Young Matsushita got the wrong end of the stick and started squirting cream over her own head, but soon realized the error of her ways and launched into a suicidal charge into the other side.

By the time the food had run out Anna Kumble was looking at a scene reminiscent of trench warfare in a pudding factory, with the squad's royal blue tops and shorts - and the varied hairstyles of the youngsters - turned into a sort of yellow-white swamp.

Anna Kumble emerged from somewhere in the middle. "As I was saying, we have to behave calmly and in a friendly manner...but it might be too late-"

SPLAT!!

Anne Foy had kept one custard tart back. "OK girlz...who wants to play on the Wiiiiiiii?"

No.

This is not possible.

This cannot be happening to me.

How could I have failed? How could I have failed? How? Just how?

It is not possible. This is not happening to me.

I tear at my hair, letting myself slide into the pain. Pain is a release, sometimes, after all. But the pain is not enough. I cannot face the pain, because the pain is not enough. More! More! I demand it! Now! Give me more!

I raise my first and slam it down onto the mirror in front of me. How foolish could I have been? Why could I not have, for once in my ego on the side table and let them see the true me, the hunger that I have, the passion, the fear? Why could I not have just let down my shield for once, and showed the coaches what I was - seperate from my skills, from my messing around, the true player who is inside the one who wants to get out? Why could I not have just listened to that voice inside my head, the one that told me that I would fail if I continued this way?

This is not possible! This is not happening to me!

I roar, letting my anger flow through my voice, but I am cut off. Cut off by my own sobs. This has never happened to me before. I was always the star, always the most skilled, the most welcome. It was always me! Always me! Me! Me! And somewhere in there, I forgot that the sport I play has more than one member. Somewhere in there, I forgot that my skills were not the key to success. They were but a tool to help my get more successful.

Somewhere in there, I learned the lesson that everyone said I had long since needed to learn - that my place on the team was not a right, it was a privalege! I was not worthy, I know it. I thought that it was all about me. And they made me pay. They make me pay. They will make me pay! Oh, the pain! It is not my hair that hurts. It is not my body that hurts. It is my whole conscience. How could I have been so blind? How could I have been so stupid?

This is not possible! This is not happening to me! It is not!

This is all my fault. I know it now. It is all my fault. I acknowledge that. It is all my fault! I can't blame it on anyone anymore! It is all my fault, that I am where I am, that my eyes are red and puffy, that my hair is in a mess, that I cry this way! Funny how life is, isn't it? At times like this, instead of like a movie, where one makes a pledge to succeed for eternity, here I am, thinking about my hair.

Hey, I would never make a heroine.

A villain, maybe.

I need to do something to punish myself. Something to harden my resolve so that I will succeed next time. I know - Wait, my phone rings. I might as well see who it is. "Bmal Gergoron". The coach. I know it. But why is he calling me? To gloat. I hurridly wipe the tears from my eyes and pick up. "Hello?" I cannot conceal the pain from my eyes. "Bmal?"

The voice on the other end is warm, polite and warm. Oh so warm. "So you have learned your lesson, Ms. Kariin?" he asks. I blow away another flood of tears as I manage my answer. "Yes. Too hard. It is too hard, Bmal!" His voice does not waver. It is warm. So warm. "Good. Now, quick, get your tickets. If we are to win the Q-Cup, we will need our star, Livandra Kariin!" The phone clicks.

I stare at the wall. I am in! I am playing!

I know that this is too good to be true, but somehow it is.

Fate is like that sometimes.

OOC:Please don't ask me where this came from. I have no idea. Sometimes, my finger dance, and something very odd comes out.

Anna Kumble had an interesting revenge on her team for the food fight. OK, it was mainly Anne Foy's fault, but she needed to instil some discipline into her young charges.

So the squad was bussed out for a special training session. The youngsters were originally pleased to get out of their training hostel and see the great expanses of Qazox - until they arrived at their destination.

"Right, girls...you have a nice little cross-country run to get yourself toned. Only about six miles, so a piece of cake."

"Here?" said Katie Barnfield. "It looks like quicksand."

"No, actually, it's merely a marsh. A bit smelly, but you will soon get used to it."

Anne Foy smiled. "Anne, could you do me a favour? You're pretty fit...you can run off to the turning point, you know where it is, while I give the team their briefing."

The goalkeeper paled. "Oh, OK, what-ever..."

As Foy ran off, stumbling through the mud, Anna Kumble addressed the team and went through in detail how best to get around the course. And the times expected.

Anna Kumble smiled as the team got underway. The Northmere players were not unduly bothered; the outpost town was near Bagger's Mire, the biggest expanse of marshland in Wentland, and they were used to training there. They scampered off in a team and were easily the first home.

The remainder, however, were soon in difficulty. The mud didn't bother the goalies, who were used to poor pitches, but the others kept losing boots and other footware in the cloying wet. Kita Oliver was the first to plunge headfirst into the mud, emerging in a new change kit of all brown, and desperately trying to claim that it was good for the skin. The smaller members - tiny Trish Grogan and firecracker Nella Homer - were next in it and the fizzbomb Matsushita startled everyone by yelling "Geronimoooooooooooo!!!!!!" and launching herself into a belly-flop into the biggest mud puddle.

At half distance the team had been transformed into a bunch of lumbering mud golems, where they met another mud golem, Anne Foy, who joined them on their stumbling way back.

When the team finally made it back to the coach, Anna Kumble directed them to a shower before they were allowed on board. Unfortunately for the team the shower was not working and Kumble resorted to hosing them off with water. Freezing cold water.

"Right, girls," said Kumble. "Don't we all feel better now? All for one and so on?"

"Oh, yes," responded Barnfield, sarcastically. "We feel wonderful. Everyone needs a mud bath once in a while."

The team got onto the coach and Barnfield had an idea. She had a quiet word with the driver, who grinned and nodded, and she whispered to Oldhill team-mates.

The driver started to pull away and then stopped. "Oh oh, there seems to be a problem at the rear..."

The team trooped off whilst the driver wandered around the back of the coach, shook his head and went back to check his manual. Anna Kumble could not see what was wrong.

"Boss, I think it's here," said Katie Barnfield, looking closely at the rear wheel. "There seems to be something wrong with the tyre."

Holly Bowers looked and expressed agreement. "Do you want to check, boss?"

Kumble went beside the wheel. "No, I can't see anything..."

"You have to be a bit this way, boss, stand right by the side and look closely..."

As Kumble examined the rear wheel, Amber Hodgkiss gave a thumbs up to the driver - who suddenly accelerated.

The rear wheel kicked up a tsunami of liquid mud backwards. Fortunately most of the team was out of the way.

Unfortunately for Anna Kumble she was right in the way.

"AAAUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!"

Anne Foy, who had been watching with amusement, went out to the saturated coach with a bottle of water each. "Here you go, Cap...here's mud in your eye..."

Andrea Childress-Turner sat on the bench just after the final whistle blew on Sativaville's 0-0 draw with favored Jeruselem.

"Coach...Coach.. COACH!!!" yelled Su Mathe, who was trotting back from midfield following the handshake with Jeruslem's captain, Rashina Dallas.

"Huh?? Umm.. Su.. what?" replied Andrea.

"Did you ever think that we'd draw Jeruselem?" asked Su, her uniform caked with sweat and grass.

"No.. but it's the JV team.. I wanted the real thing." answered Andrea. "Damn.. only the Q continuum teams sent their 'A' squads. I want us competing against the best... not college kids."

Su stood there thinking for a moment, and came back "Well, it's better than losing to a bunch of kids right?" To which Andrea could only nod as they walked into the locker room.

Gary: Hey Rashina, you look a bit of a mess.
Rashina: I'm a defender, I'm always spending a lot of time sitting on grass unless I get moved to midfield or something!

Gary: Well, from today's display I don't think you're a Dazza or Debbie Dallas even if you are Debbie's daughter. You definitely need to work on scoring goals.
Rashina: Yeah, I definitely can't score like my auntie does. I kick too weakly for that.

Gary: What's that stuff in your hair?
Rashina: Mud, from sliding backwards. I think it was mud anyway.

Gary: Well, I'd better get the training back to scoring goals and shooting straight. These NIL ALL draws are not acceptable, it's winning or nothing.
Rashina: They are kids and it was the full Sativaville team. At least the defense held up.

Gary: There's a shiny thing in your hair.
Rashina: Hey, it's a ring. Funny the things you pick up sliding around in the mud.

Gary: Well, better ask the girls who lost a ring today.
Rashina: Might belong to a Sativaville player.

Gary: You'd better get changed, you look like a Wentland player.
Rashina: Oh, the mudfighters girls? Hear about their antics.

Gary: Someone's going to have fun washing your underwear.
Rashina: Err, what underwear ....

Gary: You've spent far too much time with Dazza. None of that booby flashing when he win big games like Dazza does.
Rashina: Didn't I do that when we won the schoolgirls championship?

Gary: Oh yes, you did. The crowd liked it anyway. Schoolboys ...

The dam finally broke in the 88th minute to the despair of the Little Tits. After a resolute defensive performance, with Katie Jackson in particular magnificent, Sonja Clay finally broke through as a corner was palmed onto the bar by Lisa Clark.

Kumble and Foy were watching from the side, devastated. "Such a shame they're losing...they've put such effort into it..."

"There's still time, Skip...just get 'em to bung it forward..."

"I don't think they've got the energy."

"Except Matsushita, she's got it to spare."

Sally Summers was waiting for the kick-off by the box. Kumble yelled at her. "Get Lulu to run through the middle...knock it back and give her the long ball...you never know..."

Summers ran over with the orders and the ball was duly passed back to Hodgkiss, who sent in a long ball as Matsushita charged. Alas it was too long...but both Kidd and Macdonald went for it, collided, and the keeper got only half a fist on it...straight to a surprised Matsushita who half-chipped, half-slipped the ball gently in an hyperbolic arc towards the now-empty net...and the ground watched in incredulity as the ball bounced two feet in front and again two feet behind the line. Luisa Matsushita had equalized. The Wentland under-18s were level against the world champions with their only shot on target.

It took most of injury time to catch the ebullient midfielder and despite the marauding attacks from the Lady Oxen the whistle blew with the scores remaining level. 1-1.

"Damn.. Damn.. Damn... DAMN!!!" yelled Andrea Childress-Turner in the locker room after the match with Yafor 2. "We blew a 2-0 halftime lead and a chance to gain 3 points!!!" Andrea stomped around the floor a bit and pointed at a player. "Helen!.. why on god's green earth would you be playing out at the edge of the 18-yd box, when Yafor 2 is counter-attacking? You needed to be around the penalty area at the furthest, that 1st goal should not of had a chance. I like that you were being agressive, but that was the wrong time to be." She stopped and walked around the room for another minute or so and then pointed at another player. "And Lauryn.. What have I told you about retaliation? Don't do it.. but if you have to at least don't do it in the penalty area!!"

Su Mathe walked up to Andrea and whispered something into her ear. "Ok ladies," Andrea began. "2 games in and we haven't lost yet, but we need to win our next game if we want to avoid either Qazox or Wentland in the Quarters. I want us to meet at 7 a.m. tommorrow for practice. If anybody is late.. you're benched or you're off the roster for Rorysville. Have a good night."

GREEN WOMBAT DAILY WOMBATIAN

UPSET!!!

That's right folks, somehow our Ermines upset the 2-time World Cup Champs eariler today 2-0 in Graverville. Perhaps it was the fact the Lady Oxen were coming of a match the previous day against their rivals Wentland, or maybe that it was raining cats and dogs or perhaps the Ermines have improved a lot over the last 2 years.

The scoring started in the 54th minute when Qazox' Decieta, slipped on teh wet pitch while covering Lambermont, and Lambermont easily placed the ball right between the far post and Juila Kidd.

Qazox' offense renewed their powerful attack, but the slick field began to get worse as the drizzle that prevailed through most of the match began to worsen around the 63rd minute. Qazox' speed advantage was taken away, and it didn't take the Ermines long to expolit the slippery conditions.

In the 79th minute, Manx, who was subbed in just moments before lead a counter attack, that left the Qazoxian defence flat-footed and Manx scored when Julia Kidd after a deflection off to her right couldn't recover her footing in time, and Manx put home the 2nd goal.

The Qazoxian crowd was stunned into silence when that 2nd goal scored, and just 11 minutes later, the Ermines had pulled off their biggest win ever.

Scoring:
Lambermont- 54'
Manx- 79'
Yellow Cards:

Rashina Dallas stood on a table addressing her team. She was only member of the Jeruselem Women's World Cup 6 team playing here which had lost to Rorysville twice and hence today was a great day for her - she captained the side to beat the Rorysville team, revenge in a small way.

"Great game girls! Remember, we are only school girls and we beat the Rorysville's finest college team. Most of their team are around twenty and well most of us are under 18. Yes it was a hard slot, us little schoolgirls against a team a potential Rorysville players, fantastic. I love the spirit - despite our skill levels lacking and our lack of experience on big stage, this is a good day. The future of women's football looks good - and we just played a team who could have been the future Rorysville team. Great defense, we didn't let them rest and we ran after them like rabid dogs. The midfield was a little stale but our ball control is getting better but we aren't Dazza Dallas and Anna Goldstein level yet, we must work on this. Our attack, come on girlies - just one goal. I'm a defender and I know what attack is because I see my auntie doing it right. Girls - we need more goals OK? I want to see 4 goals next game. I don't how they come as long you get the ball into that without swan diving err like my auntie. OK, let's clean up and hit the showers. We all look like Wentland mudfighters at the moment."

Rashina's mobile rang and she picked it up "Oh hi Rocky!". The rest of the team laughed "Rashina's got a boyfriend. OOOOOOOOOO, she's gonna score!" as she went somewhere more private to finish the phone call.

"Sorry, I don't want them on telly...they've got a big match to prepare for..."

"Look, it's just a kids' programme...shall we send someone round with a video to talk you through it?"

"OK, won't do any harm..."

But when Anna Kumble saw the video she grinned. Heh, this was her chance to get a little revenge for the coach incident.

***

"We're gonna be on telly? GREAT!!!"

"Yes...just a bit of fun for the Qazox kids...you'll love it..."

***

"And now it's time for....JUSTICE!!!!"

The daygloed presenter raised her hands and screaming kids in an audience cheered. The studio was in a bizarre parody of a courtroom. Behind one lectern was a Qazoxian eight year old. In the dock was the Little Tit squad.

The young Qazoxian charged the Wentland team with daring to score against her favourite team - a charge to which the Little Tits could only plead guilty.

Anna Kumble, as special guest, pleaded mitigation - but there was only one sentence; imprisonment.

The team trudged off faux-unwillingly to a big cage at the side of the studio. None of them thought to look up.

"And now they're in prison, they're gonna be remanded in...what?"

The audience yelled. "CUSTODY!!!!"

Tubes opened up above the cage and yellow gloop poured out, whilst other kids hurled buckets of yellow stuff at the occupants.

"AUGGGHHH!!! The boss never warned us about this!!!" glubbed Katie Barnfield between waves of lumpy liquid.

When it was finished, they were stuck suppurating in the cage for the commercial break. "Dammit, boss, you could have warned us...anyway, why are you not in here?"

"Oh, I'm on the video vote later...plus I'm on the Gunge Challenge...so I might get messy..."

Anna Kumble did not let on that the Gunge Challenge was rigged. A kid had to answer impossible questions; they would win a prize regardless but unless they got them right they would be glooped.

And after the break the presenter mentioned that the Wentland team was doing "porridge" and a wave of grey goo was deposited.

Anna Kumble grinned - this was all going well.

***

The team trudged out of the showers, finally clean, as Anna Kumble came in.

Fuming, steaming and dripping in a vile green substance.

The presenter was following and apologetic. "Sorry about that, Anna...how was I to know that the kid's dad discovered asteroid number 2342 and named it after him?"

"I don't know...and I don't care...just get that bloody shower on...auuugggh, my best suit ruined..."

Lulu Matsushita grinned. "Sorry, boss...I think the hot water has just run out..."

And Holly Bowers suggested that Kumble might want to stay as she was. "It is GREEN Wombat next, boss..."

Q-Cup Edition

Well the Girls Have been a disappointment so far. as they have dropped thier second straight this time to the perinnaly stoned from Sativaville. after a thrilling win over Yafor2 they slipped against Jeruselem in a tight contest and again another one goal difference as Sativaville beat the College All Stars.now for a recap of the first 3 games of the Q-Cup.

Game 1-vs. Yafor2
The Girls got off to a sluggish start allowing two goals at the 22nd and 39th minutes. After the halftime break The Girls finnally gelled and a goal by Jordan Kielty at the 53rd minute put RV within a goal and a goal at the 76th minute by Erica Soderstrom tied the match sending it into extratime afte one period of extra time the score was still knotted heading into the second extratime period when the youngest member of the team netted the winner Terri Kanuch scored to put Rorysville up for good.RV wins 3-2.

Game 2-vs. Jeruselem
The girls were really pressured by the young school girls from Jeruselem. The Spirt of the younger team was really a deciding factor the Girls were up against a revenge factor as the Schoolgirls wanted to do what the ational sqaud couldn't do and that was beat us the lone goal came from Natasha Greski as for us our best chance was a shot by Kielty and it was foiled by Nicole Kiddie.RV falls 1-0

Game 3-vs. Sativaville
The Girls had this one and let it go. The managed to score goals at the 22nd minute by Kielty and at the 52nd minute by Anna Okoye. Then RV's Defense faltered as the gave up 3 goals in the second half at the 55th,72nd and 83rd minutes sending Rorysvile to the bottom of Group A and in desparate need of a Win on Matchday 7.RV Falters 3-2

(ooc to wentland.. Didn't you do that once before.. and once again it was hilarious.)
(ooc: it was meant to be slightly different, previously it was a girl who had a shampoo deal & didn't want to get her hair messed...this time it's St Trinian's mixed with Grange Hill...)

"What a goal!!! What a goal!!! Fantastic finish from Nella Homer...she's nicknamed "Fizzbomb" and has lived up to it today...the Green Wombat defence just has not been able to handle her and that's her second...and surely that's sealed victory? A two-goal lead with a minute to go..."

The Little Tits could not keep a clean sheet as the girls in green snuck a consolation with almost the last kick of the game. Unfortunately the mad scramble to get the ball out of the back of the net saw an unseemly dust-up and only the generosity of the official prevented some needless red cards.

The effort of the girls in gaining their first win had drained them significantly. Second time up against Qazox they could not pull off a second miracle result but they did manage to keep it down to one, with reserve goalkeeper Holly Oakley magnificent throughout and only beaten by a wicked free-kick.

Still, half-way through and the Little Tits were atop the group. No-one had predicted that.

***

Anna Kumble received a phone call from the Qazox television team whilst the team was on a training break. "Look, we're sorry you got gunged on 'The Madhouse'..."

"So you should be...I would not have put on that suit otherwise...I'm stuck with my tracky bums now..."

"Is there any way we can make it up to you?"

"Yes...my team managed to use all the hot water and have been making fun of the smell all week...they keep saying things like "suits you, boss"...I think we need to play a little trick on them..."

"OK, we can do that...there's our 'You've Gotta Laugh' team, they might be able to assist?"

"Excellent - shall we discuss this another time?"

"Yeah, we'll be round at the hotel at sixish?"

"Fine."

Anna Kumble closed her mobile and chuckled.

Anne Foy had overheard part of the conversation. Now, she thought, what could the captain be planning now?

Andrea Childress-Tuner looked at the team after their 3-2 win against Rorysville, and after a couple of minutes of hard glares and silence, erupted with a loud:

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

After the rest of the team joined in, Andrea waved her hands to silence the team.

"Now that is how we should play every match. The last 35 minutes, we need to to that for 90 minutes, and we'll be in the World Cup. Granted the field wasn't in the best condition, but you girls hung in there, and despite being down 2 goals, you didn't fold. Su good shots on those 2 goals and way to go Twanna putting home the winner. We got one more game left, against Jeruselem. We held them down once, but we can do better. See you tommorrow at 10 am for practice. That's right you all get to sleep in a bit. Have a good night."

After the team left, only one person remained behind, besides Andrea. As she went into her office, she heard foot steps behind her and quickly turned around.

"Su..what are you doing here? I released the team." Andrea asked politely

"Coach.. I got a bit of a problem." Su replied, looking rather sheepish for a woman of 27 years of age.

"Sure.. anything for one of my players.." Andrea answered sitting down on the edge of the desk, "What is it?"

"Um...I don't really know how to say this... but..uh.. I'm falling in love with you." Su replied, muttering the last bit.

"What? I didn't hear you at the end there." Andrea asked.

"Coach, I think that I'm falling in love with you." Su answered, and then quickly ran out the door.

Andrea stood there stunned for a moment and could only reply, "Oh...Shit."

After knocking of Qazox in their 1st match, the Ermines look to take down another powerhouse in Wentland, but after an early goal by Nella Homer in the 17th minute, the Ermines couldn't regain the rythym they had against Qazox, and when Nella Homer scored agin, this time in the 88th minute, it seemed over. But 24 seconds after the goal that put Wentland up 2-0, Cieloha scored to make it 2-1. After the goal, both sides fought over the ball, as Wentland tried to stall and our Ermines were determined to try to tie it up. Both teams received 2 red cards each, effectively ending the match when all was said and done. A game that should have been a lot worse, didn;t turn out too bad, as we still control our destiny for 1st place in Group B.

Rashina Dallas were watching DVDs of their next opponents Sativaville. The team needed a win after losing to a team which they normally beat - Yafor 2. The team had the best defense and worst offense so far and nothing but a win would be needed. They were quite impressed by the Sativaville team but all the teams in the group were not certain as none had been dominant in any way so far. All games had been close and the last games too would be close.

The coach put in a new DVD

Rashina: Err, I think this is not a Sativaville DVD
Gary: Oh, it's the Dazza does Dallas DVD - how'd it get in here?

Rashina: I think it belongs to one of the assistants.
Gary: So we've got a missing DVD somewhere

<They check again>

Rashina: Well, it looks like someone mislabelled the DVDs
Gary: Actually I've never seen Dazza cheerleading, let's watch your auntie.

<Later>

Gary: I must say, she hasn't changed much. I've been coaching and I've never seen a cheerleader like Dazza.
Rashina: Actually, she sometimes gives me a few tips about cheerleading. I'm no good at it and at her age, she's still so good at 26.

Gary: Triple sumersault and then two backflips, no wonder someone wanted her to try out as a soccer player.
Rashina: Most popular Jerusalem United cheerleader two years running.

Gary: You know these schoolgirls aren't near as flexible as Dazza was. I have an idea, we run the girls through some cheerleading exercise and find out who is most flexible and then put them as forwards. Our forwards aren't performing at all.
Rashina: I'm still a rough and tumble defender though. I've tried bicycle kicks - too hard. Dazza just does them for fun.

Gary: Maybe next time we put the girls through a gymnastics training course.
Rashina: Well, I'm as stiff as cardboard really. Even my Mum Debbie wasn't the most flexible of players.

Gary: Oh yes, your auntie had a different father to Debbie. John Jerk - nice guy, fancy him being Dazza's father. He liked his tricks, so does his daughter.
Rashina: Pity the poor man never played a World Cup. Went around to his place with Auntie for dinner once and he's not a Jerk at all. Happy little wife he has. Actually one of neighbours mistook Dazza for his wife once, funny it was. Dazza played along with genuine Russian accent and they didn't know any better.

Gary: Well, you have a interesting family.
Rashina: The Dallas clan has fun, that's what counts.

Trish Grogan's big moment came in the 78th minute. With the Little Tits a goal down she had been pushed on with Kita Oliver to bolster the forward line. And the firecracker somehow dived between defenders to glance Keaton's cross into the Green Wombat net.

The final twelve minutes or so were played out in an almost casual manner, and Wentland were through to face Sativaville in the quarters.

Anna Kumble had a nice surprise for the team. "The telly people feel a bit guilty about splatting you on that kids' programme...so they're offering us a travel programme...you'll be presenting about some health spa somewhere..."

The team whooped and hollered.

"Will you be coming, boss?"

"Yes, I'll be interviewed there...I'm not having any of the treatments, though, I've just got my suit cleaned..."

Katie Barnfield and Lucy Verasamy sniggered. Kumble took note.

***

The team had enjoyed a day of pampering, some horseplay and presentations to the camera. Katie Barnfield, the model of the team, had particularly enjoyed the presenting and she seemed to have a gift for it.

Finally the team reached the last treatment - the beauty therapy. Some were lain down on couches wearing swimming costumes and bikinis - "the Qazox boys will like that" whilst the remainder lolled around at the foot in a big pit of medicinal mud.

Meanwhile the beauty experts were discussing the treatments for each member of the team. "I should not be doing this," said one of the experts, "as I'm doing myself out of a job, but there are many everyday goods that can be used to assist with beauty treatment."

"Really?" said Trish Grogan, on the first couch. "Such as?"

"Well, for a facepack, why not use baked beans? The mixture of the bean and tomato is excellent at removing any dirt pores."

As the expert said this her assistant poured a can of beans over Trish's face. "Aaaugghh!!! They're cold..."

"We just leave that for a bit and we go over to Amber...now, you've got very pale skin, so beans are not suitable for you...however a nice facepack is mashed potato...the milk is good for the skin..."

The assistant smeared Amber's face with potato. Amber Hodgkiss could barely remember her line but spluttered it through the mash. "And I suppose you don't have gravy with it..."

The assistants giggled. "Of course not..."

Amber secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

"We use that for shampoo..."

Amber gave a little scream as she felt something cold and smelling of Sunday dinner being poured in her hair..."urrrrggghh...are you sure that's good for me?"

The presenters went over to Lisa Clark. "Lisa has long, wavy hair, so gravy is not very good for that...however we've found that rice pudding can lighten a very dark hair and we'll see how that looks on Lisa..."

There were different grotesque treatments for the players. Lulu Matsushita had a yogurt face and body wash. Kita Oliver had semolina.

And finally there were Katie Barnfield and Lucy Verasamy.

"Now Katie had pale skin and very black hair...for this combination we can use mushy peas as a face-pack...as my assistant is now demonstrating...and as an overall body scrub...again as my assistant is demonstrating..."

By now Barnfield was gagging in green...

"And finally as a shampoo. It's the overall treatment."

"Do I get to wash this off?

"No, you have to keep it on for an hour."

"Bleeechhhhh."

"And finally, Lucy...we thought it would be a good idea to go through the other treatments again."

So they blasted Lucy Verasamy with rice pudding, semolina, baked beans and all the other dinner leftovers.

"There," said the beauty experts, "don't you feel a lot better now?"

"Errr...no," said Lucy.

"Well, here's someone who can give an independent opinion..."

***

Anna Kumble recognized her cue. She had been watching off-camera with the You Gotta Laugh team which was filming her reaction - and giggling with undisguised glee, especially at the treatment inflicted on those who thought her ruined suit to have been so funny.

"Surprise!!!!" she shouted to the team. "These are not beauty treatments at all...but revenge..."

More cameras sprung out to film the team's reaction. Lucy Verasamy spoke from beneath layers of food. "You mean that was all a set up? Ha ha, boss...very funny..."

"Don't come near me, Luce...don't ruin my suit again..."

Jazz Lowson was still in the mud-pit. "This is still a beauty treatment, though, isn't it?"

"Actually, no...they just filled it with random earth from the playing field..."

"UUrrggghhh..."

Meanwhile the team heard a yell of "geronimoooooooo!!!!" and Anne Foy, who had suspected something, charged in from outside. She had tagged along even through she was not meant to be involved and swept Anna Kumble up in her arms. And ran perilously close to the mud pit.

"AAAAHHH!!! Exy, for God's sake don't drop me in there..."

The team was baying for Foy to do exactly that.

Anne Foy said "don't worry, Cap...I'm not gonna do that."

The team booed.

"GERONIMOOOOOO!!!!!"

Anne Foy jumped.

With Kumble in her arms.

"AAAAUUUGGGGHHHHHHH!!!"

The team cheered.

The director was delighted. Wow, mudwrestling on prime time television? There was a QAFTA in this for her.

Rashina Dallas connected her laptop a very large TV for the Jeruselem team. It was TV day for the Jeruselem schoolgirls team and Rashina had a special treat for the team - Wentland videos. She had DVDs of all the Wentland mudfighting, mudwresting and other fun thing. It was the school's entertainment night. All taped from Wentland public TV.

She smiled "Well girls, well done for topping the group and earning us the bye. So for a reward the coach decided to watching something fun, and it's not soccer related. You know Dazza has lots of fun keeping the public entertained with her hip shaking and boob wobbling but Wentland have rivals to Dazza. It's Anna Foy and Anna Kumble - great soccer players and people who like their fun. Now this will make you laugh girls! You earned it. Have fun. Now, I have to talkie to my man, OK?" as she pressed PLAY on the DVD software.

Sure enough, two hours of the Wentland Q-CUP team getting covered in disgusting gooey liquids starting the two Wentland Annas. The Jeruselem girls enjoyed every minute with all round fun and poor old Anna Kumble getting into sticky situations all the time.

The coach Gary was in his office talking to Dazza Dallas about how best to organise an offense. Two goals in three games and then four in the last game. The team needed to be more consistent and Dazza Dallas was the one to ask about getting a midfield to function.

Gary: Good to talk to you, Dazza.
Dazza: What's all that giggling and laughing going on?

Gary: Oh, the girls are watching Wentland mudfights.
Dazza: Oh, the two Annas. Seriously Wentland are mudfight champions - they'll win any mudfight world cup anytime.

Gary: Not us, finding mud in Jeruselem is impossible - the mud is rock hard.
Dazza: But we could a sandcastle world cup!

The Qazoxians had been most impressed by the Little Tits and their increasingly frequent (and messy) appearances on television had quite caught the popular imagination. So an invitation was made for the Little Tits to attend a special celebration dinner after the Sativaville match, win or lose.

The gold-rimmed card was elegantly calligraphed with the details, addressed to "Madam A Kumble and guests" for the team to be present at the Maximilian Tower Hotel in Graverville. Black tie.

Anna Kumble announced the invitation to the team. "We're going to have to get posh togs hired, girls...we're invited to the swankiest hotel in Qazox for a formal dinner! All the great and good of Qazox are going to be there...there's a minister coming...maybe a prince or two..." Trish Grogan blushed, she quite fancied being Queen Trish. Not bad for a working class lassie.

"Cor, where are we all going to get ballgowns from?" asked Holly Bowers, her already wide eyes even wider.

Anna Kumble suddenly had an evil thought cross her mind. "Oh, it's not black tie," she said. "It's fancy dress."

"Brilliant!!!!"

Anne Foy was a bit suspicious again. "Fancy dress? Sounds a bit odd, Cap...can I have a shufti at the invitation?"

"Why, Exy...don't you trust me? After we mudwrestled together? Tut tut. Maybe you could go in fancy dress as someone smart...make a change from your skater stuff..."

"Ha bloody ha. Who said satire was dead."

Anna Kumble meanwhile made preparations for her ballgown.

This was going to be a fun evening.

Anna Kumble yelled to Sally Summers. "Remember Qazox!!!! Hit them while they're celebrating!!!!"

Wentland kicked off, back level to 1-1, and the ball was hefted straight forward for Barnfield. The irascible model flicked the ball backwards to Lulu Matsushita running through from midfield and a fierce right-foot half-volley immediately restored Wentland's lead.

The game was made safe with six minutes to go. On a break Angie Bell sent in a cross that was handled in a panic and the referee pointed to the spot. Katie Jackson, the morose right-back who preferred to be called Asmodea and never plays without her eyes kohled out of existence, has ice for blood and lugubriously took hold of the ball, grimly placed it on the spot and dismayingly drove it right into the right-hand corner. 3-1 and the semis.

"Good stuff, girls...and you can enjoy the, er, fancy dress party...we'll have to watch for Jeruselem in the semis, they're BOUND to have been watching us on video..."

Anne Foy found she was getting on like a house on fire with the Qazox FA secretary - a bit of flirting had evidently awoken something in him. So she went for the jugular.

"How about making tonight's do a fancy dress thing? Our girls have never been to a black tie thingy and they're a bit rough and ready..."

"Oh dear, I was hoping to see them in their strapless gowns..."

"Don't worry, I'm sure they will have, er, appropriate costumes. I think though it would be great fun, though, wouldn't it? I can see you now as a Renaissance prince...all tight britches..."

"Ah, er...yes, I see it would be quite fun...actually it's a capital idea. I will inform everyone of the change of plan, I'm sure they'll love it. I'll call you later to confirm."

"Oh, you're the bestest secretary ever. I hope you can pull it off..."

"Ah. Er."

Rashina Dallas stood on a box during training

"OK girls! The latest results came out. We are playing Wentland in semi-finals while Yafor 2 are playing Green Wombat in the other game. Apart from Wentland being good at keeping people entertained covering themselves in yucky liquids - they are a good team as they beat the senior team in the last World Cup. I want a big effort today! No being lazy, 110%. We must win this and then beat Yafor 2 or Green Wombat. We maybe schoolgirls but we are future world cup players here. People will be watching for the next big thing like Dazza. One of you could be the next Dazza! The next super Jeruselem player. I want a big effort here and during the game. I'm not Dazza, but if I was I too would want 110% from all of you. OK? Here is a chance to impress and we little girles can show those bigger girls out there what we can do. That's it - let's get out there and work hard."

Debbie O'Hare asked "Hey Rashina? What happens if the pitch is muddy? Won't the Wentland team have the advantage?"

Rashina replied "Good question. It helps us because we don't have a mudfight fixation. We might not like muddy fields but we all know when we are on the field - it's serious. It's a football game, not a fun thing. We play to win."

Debbie O'Hare asked "Hey Rashina? You going to do that Dazza thing if we win the cup? You know what I mean."

Rashina replied "I shouldn't but probably will"

Debbie O'Hare stood there shaking. She was the 7th Jeruselem player to take a penalty shot - she was scared. The other six Jeruselem players had done their job but she was doing a foreign job - kicking a ball into the other net. She wasn't expected to play this game but Nicole Kiddie got injured and she came on to complete the job. The job just got harder.

She faced Lisa Clark. It was not something a keeper did everyday. Rashina saw her teammate not handling it and came up to her and said in Russian to O'Hare "Hey Debbie, think of it as a mudfight. Foy and the Wentland girls will duck pies at her head - think of it that way. Just do your best, Jeruselem aren't supposed to win these shootouts."

O'Hare lined her kick and looked at Clark. Clark looked ready. She kicked straight and hard, then looked away afraid she might make a complete mess of it. The ball caught Clark by surprise as she moved in wrong direction and tried to use her hands to punch it away. It almost worked as it deflect sideways into the sidenetting, she had just failed. O'Hare looked with Clark on the ground with her hand covering her face and the ball in the net. She had one last thing to do.

Luisa Matsushita faced O'Hare. She knew Luisa was good and had to do something right as she had failed the last 6 time to stop a goal. Luisa calmly fired her shot under O'Hare but O'Hare was going sideways - wrong way. She stuck out her foot as a last resort not expecting a good result, just a messing landing. Her foot somehow was in right place kicking out the Luisa shot as O'Hare landed on her face like Anna Kumble in a mudpit. O'Hare got up and looked around for all ball, expecting it to be there, then saw Luisa crying like school girl and ball outside. The team rushed in and picked up O'Hare - carrying her around like hero. She was covered in grass and mud and other debris but the moment carried the pain away.

Unfortunately for the Wentland team - the girls trained by Anna Foy and Anna Kumble would not been in the final. The disappointment was all over their faces but both teams knew they was only one winner in finals game. Jeruselem would face rivals Yafor 2 again and this time - they wanted revenge over the earlier loss.

OOC - Oh my, I won a shootout!

The dinner had been postponed to allow the guests to collect fancy dress - although strangely no-one had bothered to tell Anna Kumble of the change; Anne Foy felt it was not necessary and of course the Little Tits had thought that Kumble knew all along.

Instead it was to take place after the Jeruselem semi-final, which risked it turning into a wake after Wentland's defeat - Lulu Matsushita had been inconsolable post-game but cheered up at the prospect of dressing as a pierrot for the dinner that night, with symbolic tear on her white facepaint.

The team assembled on a bus to go to the dinner - Kathy Jackson dressed as a black widow (a cheering up Matsushita telling her "you could have worn fancy dress"), Katie Barnfield as a whore ("you as well"), the Oakley sisters as Batwoman and Robyn, Emmie Keaton as a librarian, Maria Swinton as a ballerina...only Anna Kumble was dressed in ballgown ("cor, boss, what have YOU come as?" laughed Barnfield. Kumble just smiled evilly).

Anne Foy was about to join the coach in her ballgown when she was called away by one of the porters. She went off, promising to meet the team at the dinner, and as soon as the bus was out of sight got out of the gown (it did not really suit her) and into a clown costume with full make-up.

Anna Kumble was suppressing a smile when she led the team into the dining hall - only for the smile to disappear as she was faced with a whole panoply of Renaissance courtiers, Scooby Doos, archaeologists, bishops and buxom wenches. "Good idea, this fancy dress lark. Welcome, Anna, sorry you did not get into the final..."

***

Anna Kumble felt a bit out of place in her strapless number...especially so as she could not see Anne Foy anywhere, surely she would be in a gown as well? In the end the toastmaster called for toasts for the team, and the QFA secretary announced that there would be a prize for the best costume.

"And the winner is...ANNA KUMBLE!!!"

"Eh? I'm not in costume..."

"No, you win for your impersonation of a football manager..."

The room laughed as Kumble turned crimson. "Well, at least I get a prize...what is it?"

"A cake."

"Oh, goody..."

"Presented by your assistant..."

Kumble's heart fell through the floor when she saw a big gooey creamy cake being held by a harlequinned clown..."oh no, I can see where this is going..."

"Joke's on you, Cap..."

SPLAT!!!!

"AAUUGGHHHH!!! I've got to get this dress back to Moss Bros..."
