Californian President Jennifer Jourgensen was far from happy, as were both houses of Parliament, her face showing just how stressed she was over the events of the last nine months. She had alot on her mind with this matter regarding the territorial trade with the United States for their approval on this war, and their assistance in the invasion and annexation of Cuba. With the United States Government delaying things with its deliberations in Congress on the strategic issues of the territorial trade was clearly agitating her to the point of anger with the Americans. She walked to the podium and began to adjust the microphone and test the volume to make sure she could be heard clearly before the room went silent. She seemed relaxed for this one moment before she began. "Good evening, My fellow Californians. This statement I am about to deliver goes out to the United States Government. We have sat by and waited while you have continuously deliberated on the territorial trade off we have both set the terms for and agreed, we have been more than accommodating to your terms, and we have been more than patient in waiting for you to accept the terms of this agreement. For the last nine months now, we have been forced to stand idle while the Communist Republic of Cuba continues to finance and aid the terrorist organization — the Revolutionary Alliance of Socialist California — that operates from their soil, every time we have moved to strike the Cubans to eliminate this terrorist threat we have been blocked from doing so by the military forces of the United States as a few of their states are close in proximity to the the nation of Cuba. However, we cannot stand by helpless to do anything about this situation any longer — simply because the United States said not to, we cannot be forced to sit on our thumbs while they receive aid from the Cubans. So, as of now, we issue this notice to the United States Government. As of 21:00pm Californian Coastal Time (PST), The Californian Federation declares a formal state of war with the Communist Republic of Cuba for their decision to harbor and financially aid the terrorist organization responsible for the attack on our capital, and for the loss of lives including the Californian President Sharon Vassaretti, we are declaring a formal state of war with this nation. All Californian military units that have been positioned in the Carribean Sea and throughout the Californian Federation that have been waiting for their orders, you are now clear to commence combat operations in Cuba. The Californian Federation would also like to issue this warning, we implore any nations who are neighboring the Californian Federation or Cuba to refrain from interfering with this conflict as any interference will be considered as cooperation with the enemy and will result in said nation's being listed as an enemy combatant resulting in the possibility of your nation being attacked.

I am not just speaking for myself when I say this, however, we are tired of waiting for the approval of the United States to begin this conflict, all that seems to be coming from the Americans is more and more procrastination on their behalf and we have had enough. Californian Forces will commence combat operations beginning at twenty-one hundred hours Californian Coastal Time. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter my fellow Californians, Good night.

She walked away from the podium towards the security detail guarding the express elevator to her suite on the 265th Floor with a wide smile across her face, she marvelled at how easy it was to deliver this speech and how better she had felt once she had gotten this matter off of her chest. Her Vice President Natalie Kensington walked to her side and grabbed her hand as they walked into the elevator, Natalie leaned over and pecked Jennifer on the cheek, "You seem to be in a better mood tonight than you've been in for the last few months. This must have felt like the weight of the world being lifted from your shoulders." Jennifer looked over to her as the elevator began its climb, the lights of the Greater Los Angeles skyline panning out in all directions "You can say that. She pecked Natalie on the lips and smiled before giving her a full kiss. As the elevator made it to their floor, Jennifer and Natalie walked into the Presidential Suite, Jennifer's hand resting on her right hip as they made their way into the living room. Jennifer walked toward the balcony and opened the sliding glass door and stepped outside to take in the panoramic view of the capital. Natalie joined her seconds later, taking Jennifer's hand in hers she smiled "Why did you take this job Jennifer? Everything used to be so simple back when you were the Vice President and all you had to do was look after the country when Sharon was out of the country meeting with other foreign dignitaries or with foreign leaders maintaining our relationships with them as allies. Why can't it be like it used to be, when it was just us?" Jennifer slightly frowned when thinking of the answer for this question "The reason I took this job, is for the simple fact that I happened to be the next person in line. I am sorry that things haven't seemed like they were." She gave Natalie a long passionate kiss. "Being that you're my wife, you are caught up in the politics of this country as well as I am, I can't simply hold up my hands and tell everyone here to give us a break for a while. Someone has to run this country. However, soon — very soon things will go back to being just us. I promise."
