Midlonia Strikes It Alone

Midlonia

"As of today the Greater Kingdom of Midlonia no longer considers itself a member of The Concordat, the Foreign office and Office of Concordat relations are sick and tired of trying to play mediator to a series of nations, such as the Roanians, ex members like Valinon and Pilon all playing to their own personal agendas. As such, all Midlonian forces deployed outside of currently defined borders are withdrawing, this includes the former Divine City and the MPA zone which is supposedly organized and administered by The Concordat. As of now, Midlonia as a whole will look after Midlonian interests. our diplomatic policy will now also reflect such, as will our responces to perceived threats."

The speaker was George Hillcrest at a podium with the dove symbol on it was clearly displayed, along with the iron and jewel encrusted symbols, the ones representing preparation for war, conflict or times of strife, they would not be replaced with the enamel ones again for a long time.

"Further-more, Midlonia will now be looking into reformation and complete modernization of its Armed forces on the land sea and air, new technologies created on its Martian Colonies will be implemented and equipped within the rest of the armed forces as a whole. These extend to new communications technologies and optical technologies developed over the last 10 years, programs of which are finally ready for use and to be deployed to all units. Along with these reforms is the extension of National Service by 12 months and deployment zones now also include that of the Northern Martian Colony."

There was some murmuring from the associated press, the last time the Greater Kingdom had stood alone like this was for the Uranium war of long ago. Since then it had always been members of alliance structures, but now this massive policy shift would cut down on the various things the Midlonians would need to keep an eye on. As well as sort out its allies into a neater list then the previous "Spheres" that had Allied-Concordat and "Concordat freindly", "Concordat Unfreindly" and "Enemy" it now made it into a much easier thing of "Allied" and "Not allied".

Clean, simple, less of the rubbish it had wound up dealing with mediating over various issues in the Joint Forces planning meetings and responces, it had even been talked down with regards to some ideas the nation had come up with itself, as ever Midlonia was partially to blame and partially right, at ease with its moral questionability it had grown tired of the unecessary pressure from other parties who thought that the entire light of Sol tended to shine out of their backsides and finally snapped with the Pilonese withdrawl after their overt military actions, and then having the audacity to list off a load of planned musings in just such a meeting, reality was that most countries tend to have plans against others, it just made sense when such things could happen at any given moment.

Thus as the Great Bell nicknamed as "Huge Harry" an iron bell that stood at the top of the first clocktower in Swadlincote rang out, Midlonia stood alone.

And so, Midlonia quits the Concordat. It seems this way didn’t work out for them, and I really can’t blame them. Big alliances are always rather problematic, and even though a lot – and I mean a lot – of benefit – they are very difficult to manage. I cannot say more at this stage, but there is one thing certain – Allanea has always been ready, and is now ready, to offer a friend of handship – I mean, a hand of friendship – to Midlonia. As such, I would like to come to Midlonia myself and discuss the relationship of our two nations, if the Midlonians allow it.

The move is certainly understandable. In fact, Tiburon did the exact same action a few years back, for the exact same reasons. To be fair, Tiburon was replaced by its Cocentrican allies than resign outright, but the effect was the same. Nevertheless. This action pulled Midlonia from an alliance with an ally, bringing with it slight concerns about the safety of a huge border that Tiburon shared with Midlonia- in particular, the Proteus border. There was no doubt that Midlonia was still on very friendly relations with Tiburon and that the border would be secure. It's simply that Tiburonese prefer things in writing so as not to get screwed over at an inopportune moment.

Prime Minister Hillcrest,

Greetings. First off, I wish to congradulate you on your recent decision to pull yourselves seperate from the Concordat, an action that we ourselves had taken several years back. Although Tiburon has excellent relations with the members of the Concordat in the context of the Mars Defense Initiative and our excellent relations with the Zeppelin Manufacturers, we have come to the same conclusion regarding the nature of what the Concordat has become.

I write to you, however, on a subject that comes closer to the concerns of Tiburonese- namely, the border on Proteus in NeptuneSphere. Given the fact that the Proteus division was made in the context of what was then our nations' common membership in the Concordat and that now neither of us are members of the Concordat, I believe it is necessary for both of our nations to secure assurances of the eternal nature of our mutual border on Proteus. I'm positive that this can be easily done given the excellent relations our nations have and historically have had.

In order to secure these assurances, I would like to invite you to an informal summit meeting in New York City. It's a wonderful town, after all- the Bronx is up and the Battery is down.

Sincerely,
Anthony Kennedy,
President of the United Solaris Federation of Tiburon
