Let the Party Begin: New Haven

Somewhere outside Baltic Major System aboard the USS Party Van

“We are exiting hyperdrive. We hit FTL inhibition, Sir.”

“Very well.”

The Allanean navy does not have a uniform system at all. Instead, basic armbands are worn on each arm to designate a rank. Other than that, every ship crew decides upon a certain costume theme – and then, costumes from that theme are worn by the entire crew, and the ship is decorated in the appropriate style. Even now, as four fleets emerge from hyperdrive from different directions, each and every ship has it’s crew wear it’s own separate colors – literally.

It was the USS Party Van that was going to be the command ship of the entire Allied effort against Baltic Major. It’s crew was wearing handsome three-piece suits and black wigs that made their heads look like giant balls. They ran agilely through the corridors of the ship as literally thousands of Hughie corvettes formed in front of the advancing battlegroup. Around them, even greater amounts of fighter drones buzzed, forming an umbrella of steel before the battlegroup – similar to what the other fleets were doing.

The commander of the Van sat down in front of his command array and put his hands on the keyboard. On his black jacket, multiple medals and badges glittered, signs of his bravery and skill. He spoke, and his words were heard all over the various ships of the fleet and on any New Havenic vessels that could receive the signal.

“Hello, friends!

This is the USS Party Van – not quite as funny when it’s in your planetary orbit, is it now? Within several minutes, we are going to enter combat with a communist enemy. I recommend the firing of disruptor missiles ahead, by the way.”

Immense, cloaked missiles were fired within seconds of that statement, exploding at various distances ahead of the Allanean fleet, sending immense energy shockwaves ahead of them, shredding small asteroids and cracking big ones. And of course, mines ahead would be rather screwed, if there were any.

“Arm your rockets, commies. Hide in your bunkers. Do whatever you like. Because from now on you are free men – free to do whatever the hell you like – because no matter what you do, you will all very soon be dead. Such as the will of Allanea. So let it be done.”

The enormous black wedge-shaped ship forged ahead, mighty explosions clearing the way from any stray rocks or such threats, the inscription on it’s side bearing the slogan of the ship’s crew in immense silver-colored lettering:

[b]USS Party Van: Not quite as funny when we’re in your planetary orbit.[/i]

(Imperial Fleet Command)

"Allanean fleet has emerged from FTL on the far edge of the Baltic System on the extreme edge of the FTLi field," Commander John Pierce said as he looked at the giant holographic projection of the situation in the basement of the Ashertonopolis Citadel. "Six battlefleets, thats rather impressive, considering we're still trying to rally whats left of the First through Fifth Fleets."

"Do you wish to deploy the Sixth and Seventh Fleets?" A lesser officer asked.

"No, this isn't the time for that just yet. Fire torpedoes via the hyperspace gate, lets reduce the edge of their blade." The Commander's orders were immediately sent to the disorganized and battered fleets still in orbit after the Electronian ambush.

In orbit, a Trondheim-class DD positioned itself in front of the gate, its Hermium Wavefront Torpedoes armed and ready to discharged through the gate. It fired a spread of four torpedoes, one for the top, one for the bottom, one for the left and one for the right. Their angles would carry them 100 km above, below, and to the sides of the center of the Allanean attack force and detonate, and their emergence point would be in front of the Allanean front... destroying a mine would just set the other three off and would still produce a wavefront dangerously close to the Allanean line.

“Jesus Christ on a crutch!”

The wavefront mines ripped through the front edge of the battle line, destroying literally thousands of drones, and two hundred corvettes. Six hundred sailors died there and then, and others were cast adrift in flaming hulks of ships to die minutes later.

Four of the carriers were disabled, adrift in space. From the Allanean fleet, a message came.

“While of course we are the aggressor party, we would like to request a 45 minute ceasefire to collect injured and escape pods.”

"Attention Allanean Fleet, this is Imperial Fleet Command. We are an honorable people and will permit you your 45 minutes, as per request, unless we detect funny-business. As long as you're collecting your dead and escape pods, we will maintain the cease fire." The communications officer turned off the audio and video feed from the IFC, but instead of turning the whole thing off, accidentally switched it over to the Imperial News Network, which was reporting on the Mars Crisis.

"How well did we do in our strike?"

"We're unable to garner an actual figure of losses due to the amount of debris and residual gravitic effects, but if we had to estimate, we disabled a large part of their fleet. Once we're done with their cease-fire, we can send in the fleets or conduct another mine attack."

"Excellent. Scale back the FTLi field a bit and widen it. Lets give them and us a bit of room to work with."

"Aye, Commander."

“Jesus Christ.” – blinked the Party Van’s commander. – “Open a comm link with the New Havenites.

“Gentlemen, it appears Auman is facing attack. Whatever common differences we have, we should perhaps postpone them until a better time…”

“But Sir! Our orders….”

“You can execute me for mutiny later. As of now, we must not let our fellow Aumanii be subject to such a vile attack. Resume comm to the New Havenite vessels.”

“Aye, Sir.”

”I apologize for the interruption. At any rate, how would you like to proceed from here? Shall we keep fighting each other or perhaps you will let us make way for Mars?”

RMF Serenity -20 Minutes to Assault

"Admiral" an enlistedman said running the latest data pad said. "Ma'am fleet is in bound. We will achive penetration of solar defences directly. Quad prong formation as you ordered ma'am" he said snapping to attention.

"Very Good" Admiral Kreiger replied. She sat down lightly on the edge of her seat. "Bring up holo projection. All officers link into to the network. We have work to be done" she said calmly. She blew a strand of hair out of her vision. Infront of her was a large blue sphere showing the fleet progress in formation. Emperor, protect our souls

Zero Hour
RMF Serenity
The Bridge rocked with fire from the incoming fire.

"Status" barked Krieger who was now pacing the inner ring of the bridge

"Outer shields fine no losses yet, no FTLi yet. Prongs one and two have reached planetary orbit and are awaiting bombardment orders. Prong three is awaiting in holding position and ready for attack orders. Ma'am our PRong is awaiting orders as well" Comm officer Chan said.

"Prong three will be with us in attacking the remnants of their fleet. Order pprongs one and two to begin bombardment on military targets only. WE will not commit war crimes here" Kreiger said moving to the central computer hub.

With that the fleet set into motion. Around the planet's surface 1,000 craft began pummeling any and all military targets to glass plates. They were droping anti-matter warheads in the 500-600 Megaton range on the surface. All that was left of where ever was struck was a desert sized glass plate.

Prongs three and four moved into attack position.

There was a brief message from the Allanean ships:

We requested a forty-five minute ceasefire, and it was kindly granted to us by you. We would like to suggest that a similar ceasefire be extended by the Allied Fleets to the New Haven fleets, in order to avoid accusations of us engaging in dishonorable combat practices. We would like to note, that, according to our FTL communications, four more battlegroups are en route from the ElectronX rally point. Please consider this fair warning.

It is also necessary to understand that our friends the Aumanii are facing attack over Mars. Would the need to defend Auman be reason enough for peace?

A message was received by the Allanean fleet after the Metallinauts began their siege:

TO: Allanean Fleet
FROM: New Havenic Imperial Fleet Command - Asherton

While we are an honorable people, the fact that one of our Homeworlds is now under direct attack by what we assume to be one of your allies only shows how dishonorable your people really are. You shall receive no additional time and no quarter from here on out. Prepare yourselves.

With that, the gate at Asherton locked onto a sweeping pattern through the main body of the Allanean fleet, wavefront torpedoes dropping from hyperspace one second and detonating as soon as the gate aperature was clear. All in all, 20 torpedoes were launched through the gate, and as soon as the bombardment ceased, hyperspace signatures could be detected on both sides of the inhibitor field: The Sixth and Seventh Fleets had arrived with four Helsinki detachments, their shields and Minovsky particle fields activating as soon as they dropped. The ships also began acquiring optical and gravitic locks while flashing over a message:

Towards the end of the message, the New Havenic fleets began opening fire, their Helsinkis firing Teraton-yield cfracs from their ortillery spinal mounts...

==================================

(Baltic Major)

"Where the fuck did they come from?"

"Unknown! No known IFF codes, no ship profiles on record! Possibility this is coinciding with the Allanean attack for a reason: 85%!"

"Radio IFC, let them know whats going on. Raise planetary shields and bring all batteries to bear. Let Baltic Minor know that its game time!"

While Mjolnir batteries fired teraton-yield cfracs back at the attacking fleet from the ground (the planetary shielding network taking the brunt of the attack), Baltic Minor slowly rose above the horizon. Its planetary shield grid came online and its Mjolnirs too began locking on.

(Baltic Minor)

"Missile batteries ready! Torpedo batteries ready! Mjolnirs have reached their charge and are ready to fire! Shields at maximum!" An officer called off.

"Lock onto the bombarding platforms and open fire!" More teraton-yield cfracs flew out from the moon, impacting the Metallinaut vessels with great speed and glorious vengenace. Missiles and torpedoes flew from the Luna-sized satellite, speeding off to impact the attack forces with further destruction.

At the same time, the gate at Asherton, fresh from dropping torpedoes and mines onto the Allanean fleet, began to dial into an attack pattern against the enemy as hyperspace signatures from the fifth and final Helsinki detachment began to be reported from behind Baltic Minor...

RMF Serenity

"Admiral return fire is getting heavy and it appears that we are taking fire from Baltic Minor as well" said Commm officer chan.

The admiral was thrown into the air as the ship rocked from a glancing cfrac explosion. Shehoisted herself back to her feet, unphased by the episode. "REPORT GOD DAMNIT" she bellowed.

"Relfective shielding down, refractive at 75%, dual and absorbtion are ready to come online" a voice said.

"Status of the fleet" Kreiger said while examining the holographic representation of the battles going on.

A female computerized voice came on the loud speakers " Fleet losses so far 10 Valliant Cruisers and 20 Hyrdan Frigates over all fleet strength 98.5%"

"Order the bombardment fleet to warn the surface that unless they surrender we will crack the tectonic plates with Kenetic Harpoons. Then fire one off from each flag ship to show we are serious"

RMF Serpentine, Serpentine Class Heavy Battleship

"Affermative Admrial Kreiger" Captian Harold Van Harris said. "Tactical warm up kenetic harpoons on grid co-ordinates X:67, Y:109. Order all Serpentines to lock on that target as well and await my order to fire. Mean while we will fire one valley onn my mark. Ensign Hooks, issue as message to the suface. Surrender of face tectonic destruction" he looked some what remorseful for the order. He looked back at tactical ops and nodded.

The Serpentine sent out of it's starboard bow a pellet of nuetronium that was less than a gram at .999c. In the less than 2 miliseconds that it took to reach the surface; the pellet sent a sonic boom that would liquify anything within 50 miles of the projectile. Then it sturck. The resulting impact was 100 terratons. An ungoldy amount of money that left an equally ungoldy crater on some remote military base. The resulting blast threw moletn ashe and rock out into space and was visible from several thousand kilometers away.

Captain Van Harrison sat in his chair and awaited the planet's response.

OOC: Hi... umm... wtf are you doing?

I'm not one to be judging, seeing as my RP street cred is rather low as it is, but are you calling my damage before I even have an opportunity to react? I tend to have a problem with that sort of thing, so... explain yourself.

BTW, less than a gram of anything is going to burn up or explode on touching any gases traveling that fast at an atmosphere, regardless of whether its made of dust or neutronium. The fact you also took the liberty to ignore the fact I have planetary shielding nets you no brownie points. Explain your physics...

Whats its density, and whats its angle of entry?
The Island States
29-10-2006, 19:00
OOC:

Look, what I'm getting at is that Neutronium is too dense, so much to the point that a gram would be microscopically small. If a teaspoon of the crap weighs a billion tons on Earth, a gram would be a microscopic (if not almost near-atomic) speck and not the size of a golf ball.

Secondly, launching a gram of it would have it immediately flash out upon hitting the atmosphere at near-c. Hell, with the amount of debris generally in orbit of an inhabited FT world, I'd expect it to hit a paint chip and flash out well before it even hit the atmosphere.

Lastly, Neutronium requires Neutron Star-like conditions in order to maintain cohesion or it'll fly apart in a shower of neutrons and other exotic matter.

To finish up and get to the point, Neutronium cannot be weaponized, even in the wankalicious world of NS Future-Tech Roleplay.

To be blunt:

Either ditch the Neutronium or pack up and go.

(New Havenic Imperial Fleet Command - Asherton)

"Emergency combat restoration of the First Fleet has been completed. We've had to juggle around the ships and reorganize them to get a fleet ready to roll back into battle, but the First Fleet is done. The Second and Third Fleets will be finished tomorrow, and the Fourth and Fifth Fleets sometime after that."

"Excellent," Admiral Advisor Watterson stated. "Prepare to deploy them to Baltic Major to shore up our defenses in that system against the Allaneans coming in. They might have forced us to fall back at the rally point, but we're not going to allow them to push us back any further."

"Exactly, which is why I will be in command of the I.N.H.V. Intrepid," a familiar voice stated. Larinov looked back to see the Imperatrix dressed in her pre-Imperatrix Captain's uniform, but this time it bore the rank of the Imperatrix (five stars wreathed with olive leaves. "I will lead the fleet into battle."

"But who will lead the Imperium?!" Watterson exclaimed.

"Alaric Newman, the Imperial Heir, will do so in my place," The Imperatrix stated. "He is qualified to conduct affairs in my absence and to continue doing so if I am slain in battle. Until then, my place is with the fleet. Is that understood, Admiral Advisor?"

"Understood, Imperatrix..."

"Good. I'm off to board my ship. I'll say 'Hello' to your old crew for you, Admiral Advisor." With that, the Imperatrix and her Praetorian Guard Platoon left for war.

Aboard the Allanean Fleet

"Okay guys, ceasefire is over. Ten minutes are also over. Fire another peace offer at them, in the meanwhile order the ships to go full steam ahead to Baltic Major. Do not fire at their ships. Focus all firepower on point-defense, assign fighters for interception duties, use anti-ship missiles to cut down enemy missile fire, is that understood?"

"Yes, Sir!"

"Also load all heavy missile tubes with fleetkillers and gravity bombs. There may yet be a new, novel use for them here."

Message to the New Havenite Fleet

We again request for peace due to the danger to which our mutual allies the Aumanii are currently exposed. However, if you care so little for their safety and survival, we are quite prepared to fight this out on your terms. ETA Baltic Major 2 hours.
