SAN ANTONIO DE SEDGEFIELD (RUETERS): Thousands of placard waving demonstrators made up of militant members of the Cult of the Immaculate Penguin took to the streets today protesting against comments made by the Right Dishon Jaques Strawman, Mayor of Pingu Town which they claimed was offensive to their religion.
The debate started on Monday when Mr. Strawman made reference to the face covering garms worn by Cultists and said that he would prefer to be able to make eye contact when talking to people. Mama Shabubu, Chief Fanatic has called for the Mayor's immediete resignation.
"How dare this Uncultly buffoon make reference to what I chose to wear. Santa Maria De La Loma is a country built strongly around the tenants of freedom and democracy and I have the freedom to wear anything I like, how I like where I like. Mr. Strawman should be dragged through the streets and stoned"
When it was pointed out to Mama Shabubu that the freedom of speech which accorded to Cultists everywhere was the same freedom of speech that allowed Mr. Strawman to make his comments, she promptly decided that freedom of speech should come with built in caveats that favoured her opinion and nobody elses.
Vice-President Yossarian Dogsberry stood firmly behind Mr. Strawman (Well about 35 miles behind him actually) and showing his support said, "If you actually listen to Strawman's speech he never once said that Cultists should not be able to wear the garms of their choice nor offended the Immaculate Penguin in any shape or form"
The protests and effigy burnings continue.
