Baptism of Fire, for WC31

Bazalonia
30-09-2006, 01:42
The BFSA for a second-time welcomes all new sporting nations to the shores of Bazalonia to compete in the WCC-Sanction Baptism of Fire, a WC-31 Pre-tournament that gives new international footballing(soccer) nations a chance to cut their teeth before entering the main arena in the World Cup.

Listed Below are stadiums that will be used throughout the tournament with a description of them. The Numbers will be used further below to determine who plays at what Stadiums

Stadium 1*
TeleBaz Stadium, the nations largest and most spectactular piece of sporting archetecture in Fauxhan. A number of Bazalope Statues adorn the stadiums forecourts and facade. It seats an impressive 90 thousand persons and has great facilities for both the spectators as well as fully fitted changing rooms including closed circuit television showing the field and current TV broadcasts.

Stadium 2*
SeaBazalope Arena which is in the city of Cantinople boasts a total of 55,000 seats, and will be used for all group matches. Sitting in an ideal location, right in the centre of Cantinople and what seams only metres away from the cities famous beaches the SeaBazalope Arena is certainly a nice place to visit

Stadium 3*
Drago Soccer Field(DSF) situated in the city of Drago containing a total of 59,000 seats. The DSF is the only 'field' that is managed by the BFSA. Actually containing a fully equiped stadium around it the DSF has been a sporting institution in Bazalonia for as long as anyone can remember. DSF has recently been expanded to accomodate larger crowds.

Stadium 4*
Stadium Verona situatied in the idealic city of Hughestown which was founded on a plataeu near an ancient, now dead, Volcano - Mt Hughes, Stadium Verona boasts a 59,000 seat capacity and is the highest major sports field in the nation. Stadium Verona is also a multi-sport stadium that is constantly re-marked to contain whatever sport is comming. So players may get confused. Stadium Verona is sponsored by Verona Inc. Makers of fine quality Bazalonian cars. Check them out.

Stadium 5*
Via Voleta Dome was the nations biggest stadium until TeleBaz Stadium and CBBC Dome. It is located in Pinksford and has 67,000 places for the crowd to park their behinds and watch the game. Pinksford is a very frindly town but also have very strict ideas about what is acceptible behaviour. Expect to end up the night in jail if your celebrations get too boistrous.

Stadium 6*
Trevton City Enclosed Field as the name suggests is in Trevton city, it contains a total of 40,000 seats and is the only stadium/arena/dome/field that is not directly controlled by the BFSA however Trevton city does a great job at making sure this field is up there with the best that this nation has to offer.

Stadium 7*
CBBC Dome in Woolgolga was constructed especially for the Baptism of Fire and was financially supported by the Allanean-based firm Cute Bunny Burgers Corp, which has CBBC markings plastered all over the walls and on the field of this stadium. In addition the Bazalonian arm of the companies security division will be responsible for security once inside any and all stadiums used during the BoF. It contains a total of 80,000 seats and is only outseated by the nations crowning glory of a stadium. The TeleBaz Stadium.

Stadium 8*
Georgetown Nova Stadium, 59 thousand seating capacity stadium in the highest altitude stadium in Bazalonia. It's cooler and has been known to have snow on it in winter. But it isn't winter but there are cold nights. Bring warm clothes.

*Please note: The numbers listed here will be used during official BFSA releases to denote which teams play where.

For Press release

The Mushroom kingship's national team was Unvealed today as it will enter it's first competition.

The Baptisim of Fire is a precursor tournement for new WC entries it has been around since 1973 and runs every other year since. Inagural Champion was Dance 2 Revolution who would ten years later become WC 2nd place. Other sucsessful teams that have won in this tournement were Turori, Bettia,Cuation and WC Hosts The Islands of Qutar.

As for our team it looks promising, We have a 2-1-7 With 2 Kongs 3 Toads 3 Koopas 1 Human and two Goombas including Team Captain Mackey DeBullie who despite being the smallest player in the KFCU(Goomba's are naturally small, but Mackey is even small for a goomba). Anchoring the Defense is A.J Jefferson, A human, From Oil City will Help the Defense. (what little Defense we have.

Divensi actually debuts

I guess technically we debuted before but nobody cares about the women's world cup thus we start over in the Baptism of Fire. Where we hope that the fires are defensive and that we win.

The style is -5 and its a 10-0-0 formation. The team is coached by Visnu Kanavan, former Rejistanian goalkeeper.

As all the people in this compeition there won't be anything interesting on them but we'll try, here we go.

Danesk- Look at Funnia Lan
Divensi- The karelans of life. That's what we are, one of Rejistania's and System Karela's most trusted allies we are sure that our karelan ways will lead us to many victories.
The Mushroom Kingship- Tonissia. oooooooooooooooooh. Disgusting. Just terrible. We will crush them like bugs on a stick of doom.
Cyredel- The only team in the group that we actually have no idea about. Most likely good.
Lord of Hosts- Jews. Not just regular jews but actually frums. We all know that intensely religious people like Orthodox Christian Monks can't play football at a high level. So probably a win.
Bushes Been Quaked- They seem to think that the President of the fictional United States got Quaked. Whatever that means. It's probably not good. But how will they play football? Like I have any idea.

Notes:
In Backwardistan, the surname is written before the given name. The only exception is the name of the nation's leader, the Relur Emerpus, Max Power.
While it may look like the names are written backwards, this is not the case. Take this in mind when abbreviating the given name for example when there are two players with the same surname. There are an Ulus A. (#3) and an Ulus U. (#10), and no Ulus D. or Ulus H.

Should my opponent RP first, he or she is welcome to:
Choose my scorers? - Certainly!
Red Card my players? - Nope.
Yellow Card my players? - Certainly!
Injure my players? - Minor injuries only, please. No deaths.

NEWSFLASH...
the most read news in the nation

Sports Funnia Lan announced today the squad for the Baptism of Fire (http://forums3.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=501506) soccer contest to be held in Bazalonia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=bazalonia).

The team will be flying with Airkar to Singapore where they will be transferring to a Bazalonian airline for the trip to the Bazalonian capital. The team will be accompanied by the partners of about half of the team in line with Sports Funnia Lan's family friendly policy.

Sponsors include Lovely Chocolates, Funnia Lan Bank, Cowling Stores and Independent Media Corporation. Sports Funnia Lan denied that there was any disagreement over the decision to accept Lovely. The Dieticians Council of Funnia Lan also denied that they had protested against the sweet company's sponsorship. Inside sources claimed however that the Dietician Council's
Cadre Supérieur Jennifer Chiffon demanded a private meeting with Sports Funnia Lan's Marc de Lima and tried to persuade the authority to resisit sponsorship by the company of the soccer event.

Also controversial was the decision to keep Jon Poisson in the squad after he tore another hamstring earlier in the year. Poisson denied he was injury-prone in an exclusive interview with CITY-Tv's Footy Show.

Coach Le Craix expressed strong confidence in the team and excitement at the opprotunity to play in so many state of the art stadiums.

The tournament will be broadcast on GAME-TV, SEN-FM and SP-AM.

Sooners Ready for First Match

Lexington - As the Okielahoma Sooners ready for their first Baptism of Fire match tomorrow the mood is hopeful here and the nation excpects an excellent finish at the World Cup warm-up. Coach Randy Evans on his team’s chances to bring home the championship: “I think we have an excellent chance to win this tournament. It’s a very small field compared to the past and so that obviously elevates averyones overall percentage chance. Our team is really flowing right now we are functioning as a seasoned unit even though some of the guys have only been practicing with each other for a month or two now. Our younger guys [Harris] and [Belue] have really looked good at their respective positions.” And there you have it from the coach himself, a strong finish is likely at the Baptism of Fire for World Cup 31. Team arrives in Bazalonia

Drago, Bazalonia - Today the Backwardistani national football team arrived in the North Bazalonian city of Drago, where the team will be playing against Okielahoma at the Drago Soccer [Editor: a Bazalonian term for football] Field. This stadium can seat 59.000 spectators, but it is unlikely that many of these seats will be occupied by football fans from Backwardistan because it costs a small fortune to travel all the way to Bazalonia.
Only because the Backwardistani team is sponsored by the generous Bram the Bored coorporation the team was able to use one of the BtB airships for free (as long as they make sure the airship and all of the advertising on it is seen). Otherwise Backwardistan's participation in this tournament would have ended even before the Baptism of Fire had even started.

Bees BoF Preview

The Bushes Been Quaked Bees will embark on their maiden World Cup and Baptism of Fire. The team hopes to do as well as they can and maybe win the Baptism of Fire. The team's star player is offensive defender Lev Petrovič Elʹcin. "I hope I can play very good defensivly but maybe chip in a goal or two. I know this is frowned upon in my nation however, I want to do what is best for my team." The team will open up against Danesk. Very little is known about this nation and it will hopefully be a win for the Bees.

Sooners loose first international match

After weeks of preperation the Sooners were straight flat and played with a lack of effort verses the predicted group winners, Backwardistan. Backwardistan beat the Sooners on both ends of the field, with goals in the 30th and 63rd minutes respectaviely. The Sooner's best shot came off of the opening kickoff when teenage phenom Drew Harris (F, #10) hit the crossbar. A suffocationg Backwardistan defence allowed onyl 1 on target shot the rest of the match (Bateman, 43th minute) and it was tipped wide left by Ekip. Coach Randy Evans refused comment after the match, but looked furious walking off the pitch.

Nothing is known about this team. They had a bye the first round and posted no roster.

TMK 2 Other team Less than 2

A daring display by a bunch daring footballers gave the kingdom it's first Intl win over Divensi. The game ,a 2-0 blow-out, was played in Bazalonia in front of a bi-partisan (mostly) crowd in Bazalonia. this game had a high amount of press after a Divensi player called our team a binch of bugs and threatened to squish us. Apperently forward Mackey DeBullie took this literally and at the start of the game the 2"6' Goomba from Fern Haven looked as if he shot out of a cannon, knocking over the five players and scoring a goal @ 00:03. Though it more likely he ate an invinceble star right before the match than actually ahooting himself out of a cannon.

With Divensi running an 0-0-10 the 4 Species decided to pass the ball in and amongst them selves for about 30:04 minutes. This got rather boring so they decided to tease Devensi and put the ball over the line unfourtinetly doing this made the ball go out of the playing field making several TMK players unhappy espescially when one of them, whose name we won't mention (midfielder Juago Billyong) got a penelty that gave Devinsi a penelty kick. the Devinsian player would have made it through, But Awah beverly manged to through a koop shell into the path of the ball to block it.

After some more passing about the ball The 4 Species decided that they should keep the crowd awake and decided to cross the line. This time it payed off, as Wally Booster passed it to Timmy green who then headed it Mackey Debullie who helicopter kicked it to Ronnie Blitzjabber who scored on a chest bounce. that 2-0 score would be all we needed as we just sat on the ball the rest of the game. Our next game will be against Danesk, who lost 2-0 against to a bunch of Bar-Be-Que (BBQ)

We predect a 3-1 victory

All Star Debate soccer team lose to TMK only 2-0

In what is becoming more and more usual for the young Divensi defensive football association (there is also a regular football association but we don't care about them). This time it was rather minor though as the regular team accidently ended up at the wrong stadium two hours before game time. Of course this stadium was on the other side of Bazalonia meaning that they couldn't come to the game in time. This led to some scrambling and eventually a debate camp where 13 people from Divensi just happened to be. These kids who were considered the best soccer players at the camp were led out and became the first ever Divensi national soccer team. The coach for the team, Stephan Shess said, "They played well for the circumstances. These guys are certainly far from internationally skilled soccer players and for them to only lose by two goals was pretty good. Espiecially considering we didn't actually play a tactic system and at points had only like 2 defenders for significant periods of time." Now to the match report:

The game got off to a terrible start as nerves from the debaters got the better of them and the LSDs scored in the first minute only 10 seconds in. A pass by Billyong found Mickey Dabullie and his speedy run easily gave the LSDs the lead. After the goal though the play improved from the debaters as they managed to hold the ball more although chances were still hard to come by. The regular 10-0-0 being abandoned by the debaters the possesion was still hard to come by as their endurance ran out quickly and the LSDs just passed the ball back and forth in their own half. Eventually though Jossoloson got the ball and managed to make one attack. Poor defense helped a lot and Jossoloson got a PK. Gedmy was to take the PK but missed after he hit the post. The rebound went astray and also the Divensian threat. Before halftime the organization went to poor. Halftime score 1-0 LSDs.

After the coach talked to them the Debaters organization got up to solid and actually started playing a 2-3-5 formation which was a step up from their 10-10-10 formation from the previous half (namely go where the ball goes very little actual formation). This step up led to a play increase and more chances for the Debaters. Jossolson hit the ball off the post and Pranoiki should have scored but his shot was poor. The LSDs though showed their actual footballing prowess as a nice display of passing led to a second goal for them, this time Ronnie Blitzjabber doing the scoring. Then Divensi got one back. Gedmy, who was playing midfield, found a streaking Jossolson who was past the defense and he scored. Unfortunately the lineman had the flag up for offsides but on the replay it looked like Jossolson was barely onside. For the rest of the game the LSDs again kept the ball on their side and ate up clock. The debaters could do nothing as they were dead tired and went in proud to only lose 2-0 against a superior foe.

Final Score:
Divesi 0 (See Defense works)
LSDs 2 (Dabullie 1, Blitzjabber 70)

Divensi Man of the Match:
Clearly Robby Jossolson did excellent from top to bottom. One of the top LD debaters in Divensi, with 3 bids, Jossolson also showed some excellent football prowess as he almost scored once and could have scored a couple of more times. After debate is over he might want to become a soccer player and maybe join the national team.

Conclusion statement: It looks to be a long tournament for the LSDs as they could barely beat a bunch of debaters. As for Divensi we'll see what the real national team can do next time.

Backwardistan - Okielahoma: Two to nil

Drago, Bazalonia - Despite the match against Okielahoma being Backwardistan's first international football match ever and the lack of Backwardistani football supporters, Rehsurc's team played very well against an Okielahoman team that no doubt could have done better. [Sponsor: if they had been playing wearing the shoes and kits for champions, from BtB Sportswear]

Ulus Urakih [with shoes from BtB Sportswear, like the rest of the team] scored in the 30th minute. Keeper Ekip prevented that a shot at the goal in the 43rd minute by Okielahoman forward Bateman resulted in a 1-1, so the first half of the match ended with a one to nil advantage for Backwardistan. During the second half, in the 63rd minute, Rekir managed to get the ball past the Okielahoman goalkeeper, bringing the score to the 2-0 that was still on the scoreboard when the match was over.

Coach Rehsurc was surprised to find coach Evans of Okielahoma had already left the pitch when he went over to congratulate them with a fine match. "I've heard he left the pitch looking kind of furious. I might have expected that had we been playing, and won from, Ropa-Topia with coach Klungelaer, but not now. Oh well, unlike Klungelaer, Mr. Evans has of course reasons to be angry. His team isn't sponsored by Bram the Bored of course." When a reporter asked if Rehsurc was being paid to say that, the coach refused to comment.

Our Oslean Boys Lose First Foray Into International Competiton

At the Oslean locker room, there was an aura of dissapointment of the Oslea loss to Candy Rocks, a close 2-1 affair. Scorer of the lone Oslea goal, #67 Rob Fuentes had this to say about the loss: "We gave it our all, and we just couldn't do it. It was a close game, and Candy Rocks gave up a good fight. We wanted to get out onto the international stage with a better entrance, but you don't always get things your way, you know? We'll do better next game."

With 6 minutes left in the second half, Daniel Foley nearly headed in the ball, but was stopped by an amazing save by the Candy Rocks goalie. Candy Rocks scored on a penalty kick and a great play by two Candy Rocks offensemen, consisting of them passing the ball back and forth and finally kicking the ball in past #37 Timothy Slade, the Oslean goalkeeper.

TMK Has Fun With Funnia Lain

Random Bazalonian city, Somewhere in Bazalonia TMK is now undifeted in Intl Compition after a 1-0 victory over Funnia Lain. The game started as the other games have on a Soccer Field somewhere in Bazalonia. but this one was played in nasty weather, with massive wind gust and sometimes even snow!(I hope it's Winter Bazalonia). with the chilly and gusty condition was evedenced when Awah Beverly tried to to core early on a "trick the goalie with a Koopa shell" trick but failed when the wind caused it to hit the goalpost. Bevrly had a nother try but that went wide left again. Timmy Green had a chance on a penelty kick but that messed up, Jose Koodrah hit one of the top of the post but fourtianatly Mackey DeBullie headed, or in his case bodied, it past the goalie. and that would be the final score as the 4 Species held of Funny lane and are now defeated at 2-0-0.

Backwardistan crushes Brownwick

Bazalonia - Backwardistan's second match in the Baptism of Fire was against Brownwick and it could have been a very interesting match if the Brownwick defenders had put up a bigger effort to keep the ball away from their goal. Sirbened (23rd minute) and Ulus Urakih (40th) scored in the first half of the game.

The second half of the game, coach Rehsurc must have decided to take advantage of the Brownwickian's weak defence and substituted midfielder Seyer with forward Us Refinnej. Only minutes after the start of the second half this proved to be a wise choice, when Us scored the third goal of the match. The fourth goal was Ulus's second, in the 67th minute, followed by a goal by Rekir nine minutes later, bringing the score to 5-0.

Rehsurc started the post-match press conference with an announcement from the team's main sponsor. The official Backwardistani football shirts are now available at any BtB SportMart. In fact, that was Rehsurc's only comment before leaving again, claiming he hadn't time for any questions because they had to prepare for their match against the Reanimated States tomorrow.

Dumbass anal-ysts can't compose decent reports

The Baptism of Fire started out horribly for the Ikeea Barbeques and since then has never recovered. With two games passed, Ikeea only has one point from a pathetic opening match against Brownwick. A lopsided 1-nil loss to reanimated States only made the situation worse for the Barbeques who now sit 5th in Group A with other teams pulling away quickly. But who is to blame for this? The Coaches? The Players? The Fans? Ikeea's National Soccer organization believes it is the soccer analysts who have been running the programming. It makes perfect sense: No reports lately, not a single televised match, even the IBC has been left in the dark about the Baptism of Fire. So we had the perfect solution for these misguiding suckers- we deported them. They did protest that they never had a camera or even a computer to work with but it is too late for excuses. Fans can only hope that the Barbeque's flame doesn't run out on the steak of success.

Divensi loses

In a rather embarassing performance Divensi won 4-1 over Cyredel. The players were way to takilan and s****d a lot of g*****. They even con**ded 1 g***. The play was awful at all ends and need to be fixed up by the next game. Coach Visnu Kanavan said, "Our performance out there was embarassing. I'm apologize to have coached and I feel like letting Andreas Pfeffer onto the sidelines for the breif portion of the first half was probably a bad idea. He seemed to give them takil and they used it. Next match we need more va karelyny."

Anyway to go to that portion of the first half that we were describing. At about the 20 minute mark Andreas Pfeffer was allowed on the field. He immediately yelled something to The Great One and suddenly he was attacking! The Great One then went onto s**** not one but 3 goals in a 5 minute period. Then after Pfeffer left the field The Great One got lucky as his shot went off the post and to a charging Sammy Grandall who scored easily to make it 4-0.

The Shields then came back and started to att*** too much and this led to bad things as Cyredel pulled one back through X and Q. The rest of the game was unimportant.

-------------------------------------------------------

"How could you!"

"what?"

"You scored 3 times!"

"Pfeffer was there and he was controlling me with his mind. It was horrible. I tried to stop but there was nothing I could do."

"I expect better next time"

"Don't let him on the field and I won't score, I promise"

"Ok, you better"

Ekip and Ulus shine again; billionaire loses teeth

Hughestown, Bazalonia - Stadium Verona in Hughestown is the highest sport field in Bazalonia, but the Backwardistani were unaffected by the height. The net behind the talented Ekip, where no ball had gone so far, stayed empty for a third time in a row, although this wasn't because the team from the Reanimated States didn't try. However they didn't try hard enough and the few attempts they made to score were thwarted by Ekip.

The keeper of the other team was not so fortunate. Four minutes into the game Ulus Urakih scored the first goal, nearly followed by another goal by Yawenaj eight minutes later, but the female forward seemed to have forgotten what the height of a goal really is and her ball went a few meters above the goal and by a weird twist of fate, it landed in the face of the only Backwardistani spectator present, eccentric billionaire Enarhcoc Marfez (who won two times in an Uhuh-Topian lottery while he was visiting a cousin in Uhuh-Topia).

Enarhcoc, who gave up a substantial part of his fortune to be able to travel all the way to Bazalonia, and even though the incident caused him to lose two of his teeth, said it was the best day of his life.

In the 27th minute, Ulus got the ball again and scored, followed by another goal by Rekir sixteen minutes later. Both forwards has several chances to score again in the second half of the game, but they showed the Reanimated States pity by scoring only once (Ulus H., 66th minute), bringing the final score to 4-0 for Backwardistan.

Coach Rehsurc's press conference after the match was strangely free of advertising for any of Bram the Bored's fine products, although he did mention something about BtB producing better cars, obviously referring to the sponsor of Stadium Verona. The coach concluded the press conference with the words, "Don't worry, tomorrow after the match against Ikeea, I will have an announcement about another very cool product from Bram the Bored."

Sooners Sneak by Brownwick in Stoppage Time

OSPN

In dramatic fashion today earlier at Stadium #6 the Sooners needed all of the 90 minutes provided in today’s match and a little more to sneak past Brownwick. The winning goal came just twenty seconds before the final whistle, a hard blow to Brownwick, dropping them to sixth in Group one, and vaulting the Sooners to number two. But it is a distant second behind undefeated Backwardistan who has outscored opponents 11-0 and pummeled Reanimated States today 4-0. Brownwick got on the board in the 32nd minute with an on goal. Here’s Doug Davies with the call:

“Corner coming up here for Brownwick, and they’re set. Here comes the kick everyone jumping its right in the middle and it’s in! Let’s have a look at the replay… oh no… headed in by Belue. He got up and got on the ball, but he headed it right by Nurmii, what bad luck for the Sooners here midway through the first.”
But the tide was about to turn just three minutes later…

“Here we are now in the 35th minute, Cobb with the ball now looking ahead, lob pass to Morris who heads it up to Lloyd, controls it now advancing. Here’s Lloyd he’s got options he’s looking now winds up from way out, GOAL!!! Holy moly from about 60 feet out Lloyd delivers a strike… oh my goodness he went top left and there was nothing they could do about it.”

There would be only one more shot on goal (Morris 56th) for either team the rest of the match and we pick up the action again in stoppage.

“Only about a minute left now, but the Sooners with the ball. Morris with it now dribbling down the left side, nice move to get by a defender he gets rid of it to Bateman. Bateman now moving in, there’s a nice move and a shot! Deflected wide but Harris is there to put it back in!!!! In stoppage Harris is probably won it! The keeper deflected it right to him as he fell and Harris just chipped it over him as he sprawled over the ground!! What a finish and the match is over!!! Sooner fans are going absolutely nuts!!!”

And that's how it was folks a dramatic finish and the second world cup goal for the sixteen year old. That's all from OSPN studios here in Lexington we’ll see you tomorrow y’all…

Rock Solid Defense...But Cotton Soft Offense?

Oslea and the Reanimated States were locked in a scoreless 0-0 tie today. New rookie goalie #1 Frankie McLean actually played well, to the surprise of many spectators, expecting lackluster performance from him.

The ones who were lackluster though, were Oslea's offense, who couldn't pot in a goal despite many good chances.

Coach Manny Grendel was sacked today for poor leadership of the team, and was switched with Mark Irwin.

Because of this, new coach Irwin switched forward #3 Derek Foley with #16 Darien Navasco, and took away the captain's armband from #88 Henry Linden and gave it to #67 Rob Fuentes, hoping for a better offense for the next game against Brownwick.

Ikeea ends winning streak

Hughestown, Bazalonia - Another match in the Stadium Verona, this time against the Republic of Ikeea. Three wins in a row seemed to have made coach Rehsurc and his team overconfident that they would easily beat Ikeea as well, but this proved to be a different case. Backwardistan struggled against a strong Ikeean defence and the match seemed to take a turn for the worst when the Ikeeans scored just before the end of the first half.

During the second half of the match, the Backwardistani team showed that the Ikeean goal hadn't thrown them completely off balance and in the 56th minute, Yawenaj scored for Backwardistan. From that point on, both teams tried their best to turn the game in their favour, but 1-1 would also be the final score.

Backwardistan's sole supporter, billionaire Enarhcoc, was interviewed at the end of the game, and he was asked if he was disappointed to see that Backwardistan hadn't won the game. "Disappointed?" Enarhcoc said, with a slight lisp, "Definitely not. I am very surprised. Yawenaj really is an amazing woman. Last night she came to my hotel room to apologize for what happened during the game yesterday, and let's just say she spent the whole night apologizing. I am surprised she still had the energy to play today, and score no less. What a woman."

Coach Rehsurc didn't seem very disappointed about the match either. "It happens. Your luck sometimes runs out, but you will never run out of water again with Bram the Bored's new AquaCubes." He then showed some transparent cubes to the assembled press. "Available in several handy sizes, you can carry them around with you, and if you get thirsty, you just put them in a glass, add some heat and presto, a glass of fresh water."

Sooners Rest, Prepare for Reanimated States

OSPN

A day of rest, film and ice baths for the Okielahoma Sooners today as they enjoy their day off to lick wounds and prepare for their next opponent, Reanimated States. In group 1 action earlier today Backwardistan tied Ikeaa 1-1, that was ended Backwardistan's 3 game winning streak. Coach Randy Evans:
"For us to catch Backwardistan we need to win or tie the rest of our matches and we need help from another club to beat Backwardistan, who is playing some beautiful football right now. I think theyve given up like 1 goal through four matches."
No major injuries for the Sooners so far, just a twisted ankle here and there and coach Evans seemed confident about the Sooners' chances against Reanimated States tonight.

Bees Get Stung

The Bushes Been Quaked Bees contionued their Baptism of Fire run with a dissapointing loss to Divensi 3-0. The team looked to lack any sort of energy, maybe the Kareleness has finally caught up to them, maybe it was a bad sandwich, we dont know, nor do we care, there is no excuse for it. The loss sent the team into 4th on the group with a 2 win 1 loss record and 4 goals scored and 3 against. The team needs to start playing abit better or an early exit from the tournament might happen. The team hopes to get back on the winning track with a win over the undefeated The Mushroom Kingship.

OSLEA DEMOLISHES BROWNWICK 5-1

New coach Mark Irwin certainly worked his magic on the team in today's game against Brownwick, as his coaching skills were evident in the 5-1 win. Darien Navasco showed that he deserved to play after switching spots with #3 Derek Foley, by scoring, and assisting on a #67 Rob Fuentes goal. The new leadership by Rob Fuentes is having a positive impact on the team, and as teammate #88 Henry Linden told us, as an example of his leadership, #67 had instructed Linden to head over to the other side of the net so he could pass to him, and score a goal. Also, in the locker room, he was a positive presence and had given tips to everyone there.

#1 Frankie McLean again impressed fans in the most exciting game Oslea has played so far, and made an amazing jumping save on a Brownwick shot.

Darien Navasco's comment on the game was:"It's..It's just amazing. It's good to know that we all factored into today's win, and we all had fun, except myaybe for Brownwick, heh. That was the most fun I've had in a long time! I'd sure like to do this again soon, at the next game against Okielahoma."

And now... A Fact File!

Group stages drawing to a close

Bazalonia - No match for Backwardistan today in Group 1, so there is not a lot of things to report about. We're not very interested in the matches of the other teams, at least as long as Rehsurc's team remains at the top of the group, with Okielahoma the only real threat to take that position if they win more of their remaining two matches than Backwardistan. Number 3 of the group, Ikeea, is no threat to Backwardistan at all though, they are 4 points behind and have only one match left. The two remaining opponents of Backwardistan, Oslea (tomorrow) and Candy Rocks (day 7), as well as Reanimated States, can still get 10 points in theory, if they win both their next matches, but that isn't very likely.

The team has been training all day to the last two matches of the group stages, but forward Yawenaj was curiously absent. Substitute player Yremogtnom Asirk commented, "Oh, she is 'training' all right. I think she's with that toothless billionaire again."

Coach Rehsurc was too busy with the training that he was unable to speak with the press, so sadly today will be without any of his Bram the Bored advertisements.

TMK Passes big test and BBQ's BBQ

A town in Bazalonia TMK passed it's first (and probably only) big test in the Bof with a resounding 2-1 victory over Bushes Been Quacked. Thhis game was played in some warmer conditions rather than the Cold windy Snowy Conditions We've been faced with. It started off bad for TMK as concede a goal in the first ten minutes and ended the Scoreless streak of 6 hours and 8 minutes. But that was okay as Awah beverly went on the offensive and made a nifty move to get around the defender and stunned they goalie with A fake kick move that gave her a chance to score. but then it got desperate for TMK as no scoring for the next hour put us in a desperate spot,That was till Ezzy hillmond made a nasty Tackle on a BBQ player, that was so hard it Dislocated his shoulder. this gave TMK the moentum needed and inderectly by a copmplex math forumla nvoling the letter d helped Mackey Debuille score (he has now scored at least once in every game.). and that was all she wrote as BBQ 0 TMK 2.

So many g***s

Divensi team very bad. Score way to many G***s. Beat one team 4-0 then another team 5-0. Still have only given up 2 goals which good but we score waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to may g***s. Situation needed to be reclified by World Cup.

Thank you everyone for looking at our English challenged writer's department. They come from Rejistania and are used to Rejistanian so English comes hard for them. Now for a more literate report.

The Divensi Shields have done quite well so far in their first foray into international soccer. They still have yet to lose a match (remember it was a debate all star team that lost to the LSDs) and they have won a lot. Unfortunately their karelaness has not worked well. Despite no more Andreas Pfeffer appearances since that horrible second match The Great One has still been s***ing at a phenomenal rate including 4 g***s in their 5-0 victory and a hattrick against Bushes Been Quaked. This gives him 10 g***s in the tournament and makes him among the high scorers list. If he keeps this up he could break some record or other I don't know what.

Today Visnu Karavan decided to take The Great One out and play a highly experiemental and offensive 9-1-0 formation. Johnson Presscot to play the one midfielder. With The Great One out the offense looked terrible and the play was better. The defense did not allow anything past the halfway line. Then on a counter attack Presscot got free and scored to make it 1-0. With 1-0 lead everybody was happy and it looked to be a good win for karelans but then a mistake by Danesk allowed Dee Fef Kay to get a good chance which he took and scored to make it 2-0. Kanavan later congratulated him on scoring saying, "He knows when to take oppurtunities. This is why he scores. Kay is good karelan except he smart and be good offensive defender. We play much better today after The Great One out. He stay out tommorow and game after that too."

Divensi actually debuts

Lord of Hosts- Jews. Not just regular jews but actually frums. We all know that intensely religious people like Orthodox Christian Monks can't play football at a high level. So probably a win.
Our Citizens and Believers reject this. "Jew" is a slur in our country, as is "Arab." We have Believers in the Lord of Hosts of Jewish, Arab & Other origin, without any racial discrimination.
Divensi
07-10-2006, 23:14
OOC: Your ruled by a rabbi making you Jewish but even if you don't buy that Jew is not a race its a religion.

There are black Jews, Arab looking Jews, European (white) jews, Indian (as in India) Jews, therefore its a religion and not a race in any sense of the word.

If you want to make it a slur go ahead but please don't call Jews an ethnic because we are far from that and calling us an ethnic group only furthers the Nazi message that we are inferior as a race when it is not true at all.

IC:

Divensi already in controversy

Divensi has already embroidered itself in some small international controversy last night when the Lord of Hosts criticized an international newspaper report about the Cup of Harmony saying that Jew is a slur and calling them that is an insult to the people of that country.

The writer of the report said, "Well I really didn't care, they seemed to be ruled by a Rabbi making them Jews. Even if they weren't Jews the main point of that blurb was humor because as we all know The Archregimancy are Orthodox Monks and they are quite good at football. If I offended them in any way I'm sorry."

The general Divensi person on the street didn't seem to care about the controversy and those that did comment the general consensus was, lighten up it's not that big a deal we're another country that really doesn't understand your culture.

The main thing they seem to comment about was the terror of The Great One and the amount of g***s he has scored in the tournament and the scary prolific offense the Divensi has employed to this point to get wins and be the leading s***ing team so far in the Baptism of Fire.

Wow! Controversy does seem to come fast for everybody.

From the desk of our Sports Correspondent:

"The cherub-driven airbus with the Elitzur team lands in Trevton City's airport, all set and ready for their first match. We have high hopes to win against Cyredel today.
I'll refer to Cyredel's players by numbers as they've been kept their players' names secret (and they are unpronounceable by most of us anyway).

"Cyredel plays today in a Classic 4-4-2 formation against our own daring 3-5-2.

"The first 9 minutes of play, marked by Elitzur's domination of the field, end with an easy goal scored by Lord of Hosts' best Soccer player ever, Elimelekh Zorkin.

"Cyredel responds with great pressure on Elitzur's half of the field. Their #3 Middle player passes to Forward #24, who scores Cyredel's first goal in this match on the 15th minute.

"Cyredel continues with their pressure. At 23 minutes, Cyredel's Midfielder #44 intercepts a pass of Ahmed Horwitz aimed at el-Soleil. #44 drives the ball past Horwitz, and passes to their Forward #2. #2 continues toward Elitzur's gate. Kaje stops him, a bit too aggressively. #2 is lying on the grass. Referee Red-cards Kaje! Kaje angrily leaves the field.

"Elitzur continues playing with 10 players… and without their best Goalkeeper. Avinoam Ellan replaces Arturo, making Elitzur's formation 3-4-2. Cyredel's #2, not really injured, continues to play.

"6 minutes before half-time, Dubbie Gal storms past Cyredel's Midfielders. Defence player #17 tries to stop him, unsuccessfully. Perhaps a miracle will happen and Elitzur will score? Gal tries to pass Defence #6… #6 tackles him! The referee whisles for a penalty. Lord of Hosts' hosts of fans curses #6 vehemently. 2:30 minutes till half-time. Will Gal score? Yesssss…….. Goalllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!

"The second half sees Gamlouni Rashd instead of Elitzur's Arturo, who has not been performing well enough in Klein's opinion.

"Cyredel dominate the field, and score two more easy goals at 63 minutes and at 88 minutes.

"The game ends with 3:2 for Cyredel. Elitzur's angry fans storm the playing field of Trevton City and attempt to attack the referee. Police elite troops easily control them."

Oslea Strikes Again

This was truly not expected around the start of the tournament, when Oslea was poorly playing and lingering around the bottom rung of the ladder. Just a good shakeup of the team midway through the tournament seemed to do it for Oslea, giving them a new competitive edge and helping them beat Okielahoma 3-nil.

By now, fans are expecting goalie #1 Frank McLean to stop all the shots in tomorrow's game against Backwardistan and to help beat the topdog in Group A, a feat that no one has managed to do yet. Fans are also expecting much of the Oslean Touch, the nickname for the four forwards (Henry Linden, Rob Fuentes, Rony Raffello, Darien Navasco) that make up Oslea's offence.

As coach Mark Irwin put it: "It was a good mix of offense, defense, goaltending, good leadership, and good team camaradie and chemistry. Everyone helped in today's win against Okielahoma, and that's what I really like about it."

Tomorrow: Beating up Backwardistan.

Bazalonia - Today's 1-0 win against Candy Rocks (Yawenaj scored in the 53rd minute) ensured Backwardistan of the top spot in their group. This means that tomorrow's match against Oslea will not make any difference for Backwardistan, but it still can for Oslea. If Okielahoma doesn't win from Ikeea, and Oslea would manage to win from Backwardistan (the Oslean press seems confident they can do that), Oslea can still get the number two spot. Who will get the 3rd and 4th spots is harder to say, because there are quite a lot of possibilities. It is certain however who will be number 7: Brownwick is already last of the group, and they have no more matches to play, so that is not going to change.

The situation in Group 2 is a lot simpler. The top 4 has already been decided, with the only thing that can still change is the exact order. Numbers 1 and 2, Divensi and the Mushroom Kingship, can still swap places, and likewise for numbers 3 and 4, Funnia Lan and Bushes Been Quaked.

Sooners scrape by 2-1

OSPN

At stadium 5 fans were treated to an exiting match Ikeea and the Sooners, with three goals being scored withing ten minutes of each other between the 51st and 61st minutes. In a game of time possesion (Okielahoma 74% Ikeaa 36%) and not alot of attacking in the first half led to spotty Ikeean defence at the start of the second half. And in the 51st minute the Sooners got on the board

"Harris with it now he's looking around, passes to Morris in the center he takes a shot GOAL!!!! Oh my its little Luke Morris scoring frow waaaaayyy out its his first international goal."

But Ikeaa struck back quickly in the 56th minute

"Ikeaa take the ball from us, now they have a 2 on 1 and theyre past Cobb only Nurmii to beat and they do. A dummy to the other and a chip shot goal and Ikeaa is right back in this game its all tied up folks 1-1"

But the Sooners would not stay down and got back ahead in the 61st minute

"Morris with it now he's got one goal alread, he hits Harris on a run, Harris fires GOAL!!! Its yet another for Drew HArris, and the 16 year old contunies to work his magic."

And thats how the score ended 2-1 at stadium 5, the Sooners will face hapless Brownwick next. The Sooners have already clinched 2nd place in group one, but cannot get to first, as Backwardistan has nto lost a match.

Quarter finals: Backwardistan - Bushes Been Quaked

Bazalonia - Another win for Backwardistan today: 2-1 against Oslea. The certainty of having the top spot in the group seemed to have its effect on the team. The match started slow, with Rehsurc's team seemingly uninterested in scoring goals. An almost successful shot at goal by Oslean Raffello in the 35th minute apparently made the Backwardistani team realize that losing could be a possibility too and it started to look a lot more like football. Ulus Urakih scored in the 46th minute, just before the first half ended. Again the 46th minute, but this time the second minute of the second half, Rekir scored as well.

Oslea, seemingly intent on not going down with a nil on the scoreboard, tried everything to get past the Backwardistani defence and their persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when Foley scored for the Osleans, but that was not enough for them to win the match.

With Backwardistan's 2-1 win, the group stages are over and the next match will be the quarter-final against Bushes Been Quaked, the number 4 of Group 2. The winner of this match will proceed to the semi-finals and will then be playing against the winner of the Oslea - Divensi quarter-final.

Overall the 4 species now have record of 5 1 0 and a nice gd of 11 (second only to Divensi,bt Divensi is now playing a more defensive style). was named Tourniment Big Timer by popular Bazalonian magazine BazGoal. (Though not an official award Jumper was still exstatic) Jumper who managed to save 10 shots in one game, also only allowed one goal in six starts. as for the rest of the tourniment it looks promising as we will face Candy Rocks Gummy Bear team in the next round.

Looking ahead:Oslea Vs. Divensi in the Quarterfinals

After an unsuccessful shot at winning against Backwardistan, a 2-1 affair for them, Oslea looks ahead to the quarterfinals with powerhouse Divensi. This is how the quarter finals will look like:

Quarter Finals:
1: Backwardistan - Bushes Been Quaked @ Stadium 1
2: Oslea - Divensi @ Stadium 2
3: Okielahoma - Funnia Lan @ Stadium 3
4: Candy Rocks - The Mushroom Kingship @ Stadium 7

Semi Finals:
5: Winner of 1 vs. Winner of 2
6: Winner of 3 vs. Winner of 4

3PPO: Loser of 5 vs Loser of 6

Final: Winner of 5 vs. Winner of 6

Oslea will head into the quarter finals with the same lineup as they had for the last three games they had, which was largely a success, save for one change. Foley will take Navasco's place again, as Foley was given another chance to play against Backwardistan, and managed to score a goal against them.

Oslea has:
2 Wins
1 Tie
3 Losses
12 Goals For
8 Goals Against
7 points

Divensi has:
5 Wins
0 Ties
1 Loss
17 Goals For (1st in BOF)
3 Goals Against
15 Points

Now, it may seem like Divensi has the upper hand, but it will be hard to tell, as Group 1 is much more competitive, which is where Oslea is from, and Group 2 is heavily lopsided. No offense to any teams in Group 2, but either they are just mediocre or the top teams there are actually powerhouses.

Fact File: Top 3 sports players in Oslean history, as voted by Oslean sports fans

Derek Nazsky (3,110,967 votes): The best and most exciting Oslean hockey player ever, with 780 goals, 870 assists for a total of 1650 points in 24 seasons in the OHL (1971-1995). (This doesn't include playoff stats)

Rob Fuentes (1,102,504 votes): The most skilled Oslean soccer player in Oslean history, he has 90 goals in only 6 seasons (2000-now) in the 40-game OSL season. He's playing in the Baptism of Fire currently, and is playing as advertised, although he doesn't score as much as he did in the OSL. Never once has a player this young got into the yearly Oslean sports player poll at second place. This could be the start of a very exciting future for Oslean soccer.

Mark Blumley (509,600 votes): The winningest hockey goalie in Oslean history with 1.96 GAA, 609 wins, and 211 losses in 10 82-game seasons in the OHL (not counting playoff stats) (1969-1979), never once missing a game. Unfortunately, in the 1979 playoffs, an ankle injury ended his career and ended a great era in Oslean hockey. Derek Nazsky would mark the start of a new era, with his groundbreaking 88 goal season in 1981.

Bushes Been Beat

Bazalonia, TeleBaz Stadium -With a 2-0 win against Bushes Been Quaked (Rekir 23rd minute, Ulus U. 42nd), Backwardistan is going to the semi-finals tomorrow, also at the TeleBaz Stadium. The opponent: Divensi, the number two of Group 2, and the only team in this tournament which scored more goals in the group stages than Backwardistan. It is likely to be a hard match and at this point it is hard to predict who will win this match.

When Backwardistan wins, the most likely opponent for the final game will be The Mushroom Kingship. This promises to be a very interesting game, as this team consists of several species from this fascinating country. Koopas, Goombas, Kongs, Toads, and one human. It will be very interesting to see this team in action against the Backwardistani.

Should Backwardistan lose from Divensi, then the tournament isn't over yet. In that case there is still the play-off for third place, and it is likely that would be Backwardistan's second encounter with Okielahoma.

The most interesting way to end this Baptism of Fire would certainly be a match (the final) against The Mushroom Kingship, but if the opponent of the last game (final or play-off) would be Okielahoma then that would be fitting as well, because the Baptism of Fire also started with a match against this nation (a 2-0 win for Backwardistan).

No matter how the BoF will end for Backwardistan, Rehsurc considers it a great success for his team. "We got farther in this tournament than Ropa-Topia did in the Baptism of Fire four years ago, and they have the same sponsor, so it can't just be because of the great products by Bram the Bored that we got this far."

This year's Baptism of Fire of course can't be compared to the one from four years ago, because this time there were fewer teams participating. The qualifiers for the upcoming WC 31 will be the real test to see whether Backwardistan is really better than Ropa-Topia.

Bazalonia TMK won again, this time a come from behind two-one win Over Candy Rocks. Another Game ws that was played in Bazalonia was a mildly pleasent affair with temps in the mid 60's. As for the game TMK got off to a slow start. with 5:19 on the clock CR got on the board first with some nice passing and nice shooting. things looked even more desperate when Awah Beverly's koopa shell trick failed do to a gust of wind. Even Cpt Mackie Debulle had troubles making goals as he missed three shots. But at the 82:09 mark suddenly the cloud got a silver lineing when Ronnie Blitzjabber spin kicked one in past the Goalie. and to finish it off Timmy Green got his first goal of the BOF. Up next is Okielahoma, a team witch somewhat struggled to beat Funnia Lain.

Sooners Win a Thriller, Advance to Semi-Finals

OSPN

At Bazalonian stadium five earlier today the fans got all the paid for, and more after today’s thrilling match between Okielahoma and Funnia Lan. It was 3-3 after 90 minutes, 4-4 after the two overtimes until Okielahoma pulled away in penalty kicks to win 5-2. It was a thrilling matches that kept fans glued to their seats for four hours.

Note: OSPN does not have permission to name Funnia Lan scorers so we will just simply have to say a Funnia Lan scorer

The scoring got underway in the fifth minute when a Funnia Lan player put in a free kick after a foul called on Will Belue. Then in the eleventh minute it was David Wilson on the attack:

“Wilson has it now past midfield excellent dribbling by Wilson two defenders by, here’s something Wilson fires tipped and deflected in!!! David Wilson scores his first goal in international play. The goalie got a finger on it but not enough as Dave Wilson has tied this match up, 1-1.”

But Funnia Lan would not take long to get back into the lead and in the twenty-second they took the lead once again:

“Funnia Lan on the attack again, Cobb with a hard tackle. They’ll book him and it’s a yellow card and a close free kick for Funnia Lan. They’ve already scored once form here lets see if they can duplicate that feat. Here he is lining it up, a shot it bends past Molander and in! Its 2-1 now as Funnia Lan retake the lead.”

And 2-1 was the score at halftime and Funnia Lan looked to widen the gap straight out of halftime in the forty-seventh minute:

“Funnia Lan with the ball now. Its past midfield as Funnia Lan go on the attack. There's a man running down the side and they hit him! He’s past Belue now and only Molander to beat he shoots and the ball is in the back of the net. Funnia Lan take a 3-1 lead here and the Sooners are in trouble in the quarters.”

But the Sooners weren’t out of this match yet and in the sixty-third minute the match took a turn for the better:

“Lloyd with it at midfield looking to advance. Here’s the pass to Dave Wilson, he looks to shoot, no he passes and its Harris right in the middle he turns, fires… GOAL!!! Its another for the 16 year old, his fifth goal in the Baptism of Fire, and its 3-2, the Sooners have new life!”

And in the 85th minute the Sooners tied it with great ball movement:

“Lloyd at midfield passes to his left to Morris who works it back to the middle to Wilson, to Bateman, quick pass to Harris who passes right back to Wilson. Here’s a shot deflected back but Lloyd sticks it back in!!!! What a clutch play, Jay Lloyd has most likely sent this match to overtime.”

The match indeed continued to overtime where each team got a goal apiece:

“Funnia Lan with the ball striking deep and a quick shot… in! Funnia Lan score in the 112th minute and the Sooners trail once again.”

But the Sooners came right back:

“Free kick given to Harris. He’s 0 for on this shot so far and here he goes, its bending beautifully and its in!!! Oh my!!! Its his 2nd goal today, 6th this tournament, the man is a magician. Excuse me the kid is a magician.”

So the game went to penalty kicks and the broadcasting system went haywire so many a faithful Sooner fan at home had to log on to the internet to see the results. That was Sooners 5-2 in PK’s!!! So the Sooners advance to play The Mushroom Kingship in the Semis.

Divensi squeak through to semis

In a poorly played game the Divensi Shields managed to barely beat Oslea 2-1. The game was terrible as s***ed twice and c*****ed once which is even worse. Coach Vishnu Kanavan said, "Sure we win but performance no good. We play terrible, concede once and score twice. If we keep this up no way we win any more. Backwardistan beat us in semi and we finish fourth. We need to stay back and play defensive and let game to us then we counter attack and win. That how we play against Backwardistan and that's how we win."
Now to Report on how they s***ed:

5th minute: Divensi defending well. The Great One over to Dee Ef Kay over to Sammi Grandal. Grandal gets the ball stolen by Giancarlo over to Giancarlo whose wide open. Simmons tries to stop him but can't Seller's been out run as Giancarlo shoots! Marrilt makes the save! but he's hit the post and the ball comes loose and Giancarlo pounces and scores! To make it 1-0 Oslea. Terrible start for the Shields they have already conceded one goal.

45th minute: Halftime and it does not look good for Divensi they have already conceded once and they did not do anything the rest of the half. If they continue this trend they will lose for the second time. For the first time as the actual national team.

46th minute: Oslea ATTACKS! but Divensi DEFENDS and using va'karelny get the ball away. Now they COUNTER-ATTACK! Mick Roitmann gets the ball over to Sammy Grandall who finds The Great One streaking as he passes it! The Great One leaps over the heads of two Oslean defenders and SCORES! 1-1. A wonderful counter attack by Divensi. This is where a goal is good when you get down it is ok to score.

48th minute: The Great One steals the ball. He should pass now and wait out the clock but he *GASP*! ATTACKING! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! He passes two defenders. And nobody comes up with him, thank the Monks, but he is still going. NO! NO! NO! It's now him against the sweeper. He goes one way on Frameson and Shoots! goal! What a travesty. He has s***ed to make it 2-1 and it looks like Divensi could win. But that was not good. He should have waited to counter attack and not take it into his own hands.

Final Score:
Divensi 2 (The Great One 46, 48)
Oslea 1 (Giancarlo 5)

Divensi Defeated

Bazalonia, TeleBaz Stadium - Namtab, Senidras Yloh! [Esrever slang; used to express bewilderment, surprise] There are no other words to describe the semi-final between Okielahoma and The Mushroom Kingship. We had predicted that the latter would be the most likely team to make it to the final, but we were wrong. The Mushroom Kingship was defeated 2 to nil by the Okielahomans.

The other semi-final was of course the one between Backwardistan and Divensi. We'll be short about that. Ulus, Yawenaj and Rekir scored, and the Divensi team only scored twice. Senidras Yloh, we are in the final! That means we will be playing against Okielahoma again, and this is what Coahch Rehsurc had to say about that:

"We've beaten them before, in our very first international football match, at this very same Baptism of Fire tournament here in Bazalonia. Beating them a second time is certainly one of the possibilities. Losing is the only other option, but I am not sure if we can do that. We have no experience with that at all. Okielahoma does, so all I can say is that Okielahoma has a better chance at losing."

Billionaire Enarhcoc also had something to say. "It has been a great tournament so far and I am glad I gave up one of my villas, my private helicopter, and my priceless rubber duck collection to be able to get here. I am also glad to announce that tomorrow, after the final against those Okielahomans, I will be making a very special announcement, although of course not as special as those special announcements made by the Relur Emerpus every now and then."

Sooners Dominate The Mushroom Kingship, Advance to Finals

OSPN

In a match in which many of the pre match pundits were on The Mushroom Kingship, the Okielahoma Sooners came out fired up, energetic and dominated the Mushroom Kingship for 90 minutes up and down the field. The team of four species managed only one shot on target during the entire 90 minutes, and Drew Harris added two goals for the Sooners who kept the ball for 74% of the match.

The first goal came in the 33rd minute as he bent a wicked free kick in:

"Here's Harris lining up the free kick. Here's the kick bending, benidng and its in!!! GOAL!!! Drew Harris scores his 7th Baptism of Fire goal the kid is amazing!"

And in the 76th minute he struck for a second time:

"Harris on the attack and he broke his ankles!!! Harris with the goalie to beat and its not even close!!! Harris's 8th goal and its 2-0 Sooners this match is all but in the bag!"

And so the Sooners advance to play group one champions Backwardistan for the second time this tournament. In the first meeting, Backwardistan was unchallenged by the Sooners, who fell 2-0.

Can the Sooners pull though? Log on the OSPNtv.com for FREE streaming video from stadium 1 or watch on natinal channel 1 OSPN for complete coverage.

A living room somewhere in an Uhuh-Topian city

"Why are you watching football? I thought you told me the World Cup didn't start for at least a few more months," an Uhuh-Topian wife says to her husband who is watching a football match on television.
"Yes..." the man sighs, "This is the Baptism of Fire. I am watching this."
"Baptism of Fire?" the woman asks. "Weren't we in that four years ago? I thought you said nations can only participate once in that tournament."
"Indeed, they can, but Backwardistan is in it this time."
"Where that no-good cousin from you is from?" the woman says with a frown. "If that entire country is like your cousin, they must really suck at playing football."
The man laughs. "No, they've been playing extremely well apparently. Too bad I didn't find out earlier. They are already playing in the final right now! So shut up, please, and let me watch."
"Hmm," the woman says and sits down next to her husband. "What's the score?"
"1-1 right now. Those Okielahomans just scored a few minutes ago, and if Backwardistan doesn't score soon they will have to play extra tim- GOAL! Well done, Ulus! There's no chance now that Okielohamo can score again."
"Hmm."
"'Hmm'?" The man looks at his wife. "What do you mean, 'hmm'?"
"Isn't that your cousin there, among the spectators?" the woman says. "Look, there," she pointed at the television screen, "In that silly red and blue suit."
"I'll be damned, it is him," the man muttered.

OOC: A Backwardistan RP should follow later today. Yay, they won!

Sooners Give Valiant Effort, Fall In Finals 2-1

OSPN

Backwardistan was simply just too good at stadium 1 today as tehy played a near perfect match and defeated Okielahoma 2-1. The most interesting part of the match came in the 15th minute with the score tied 0-0.

"Harris with the ball passes and intercepted by Ulan. Harris going after the ball hard tackle and whistle blown. Referee coming over and its going to be a red card for Harris! But neither player has gotten back up. Harris up gingerley now he's favoring his ankle. Ulan has a nasty bend in her leg it could be brooken but i cant tell from here."

And her leg was indeed broken on the tackle from the side by Harris, who suffered a sprained ankle. Backwardistan got two goals from each forward and Okielahoma got another from Dave Wilson.

Newsflash - Funnia Lan's best selling daily!

Funnia Lanners contiued to party on the the streets today to celebrate after a thrilling match. Despite losing to the Okielahoma Sooners, Funnia Lanners were proud of their team's efforts in what was a very very impressive run and a very close game against Okielahoma.

The team scored 3-3 after 90 minutes and 4-4 after two overtimes until the Okielahoma managed five penalty kicks to the two produced by the exhausted Funnia Lan team.

Jenny Sky of Konig was typical of people celebrating in the streets of our cities: "I d never even heard of Okielahoma a few days ago and now we almost beat them" she remarked. Police estimated that 25 000 people gathered in Zone 24 to watch the finals on large screens and then party on into the night. There was some minor violence at the Top Hat in Funnia Lan city and at bars in Regalia, in the Port Area. Police arrested fifteen people overnight, mostly on charges relating to public drunkenness. Ambulance crews treated twelve people, one of whom was seriously injured when he was knocked down by a 512 bus on the Red Line Busway in Funnia Lan Cite. Capital#One condemned the individual for climbing onto the bus guideway warning citizens that buses operate on the busway at speeds of 110km/h.

Lovli, have provided free soft drinks at hundreds of outlets across the country through the Baptism of Fire series. As chief sponsor of the team, the company acknowledged the Funnia Lan team's result and resulting publicity was a shot in the arm for the company, currently under takeover threat.

Commentators agreed that the Batism of Fire result bodes well for the 31st World Cup (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=497634) and the Womens World Cup V. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=499524) Both are events which Funnia Lan are participating in for the first time.

After beating Funnia Lan in penalty kicks, the Okielahoma Sooners beat the Mushroom Kingship in the Semi Finals before being defeated in the finals by the Backwardistan team.
