TOUR de QAZOX Signups/RP/Results thread
With so many other sports represented here on NS, I figured once to try a Wresting one.. and that went well...(cough) But with a Surfing tour, a College football one and even once a golf i figured why the heck not a Cycling one???
Sign up below with the following provisions:
1- Maximum of three riders per country.
2- Each rider will be graded in the following catergories:
Climbing (the higher the number, the better climber you are)
Sprint (the higher the number, the better in time-trials and finishes you are)
Speed (the higher the number, the better in the flat stages and overall time)
Endurance (the higher the number, the less likely to be injured or wear out on the longer stages)
3-Each rider will have 30 points to be placed in each of the 4 catergories, with a maximum of 10 allowed in each.
(examples:
RIDER A
Climbing- 10
Sprint- 4
Speed- 6
Endurance- 10
This type of racer will be one of the better riders in the mountains and longer stages, but worse during the flat stages and time-trials.
RIDER B
Climbing-5
Sprint- 10
Speed- 10

This type of racer will be one of the weaker riders in the mountains and the long stages, but great during the shorter stages and time-trials.
RIDER C
Climbing-8
Sprint- 7
Speed- 8
Endurance- 7
This racer will do well in most stages, but probably won't win any stages.)
Unlike the RL events this will be sort-of based on (ie Tour de France/ Giro de Italia..etc) there will be no drug-testing of athletes, so if you want you best rider to be injected with HGH or EPO before every race go right ahead!!
There will be a Blue Jersey for the overall leader, a Green Jersey for the best sprinter and a Red Jersey for the best climber.
Have fun and GL and see you in Lake Porter City for the start!!
Qazox, for the 1st time will open its Tour de Qazox to international competitors and a $3,000,000 prize will go to the winner. The following three riders will comprise Team Qazox:
Greg Johansen, 32 yrs old, Fromburg. Winner of last year's Tour and a 3-time winner, Greg is a strong favorite to win this year, but will his age catch up to him?
Climbing- 6
Sprint- 7
Speed- 9
Endurance- 8
Alan O'Neill, 26 yrs old, Joehio. Last year won 5 stages, but a Stage 19 crash ended his chances to surpass his mentor Greg Johansen. Not the best sprinter, but in the mountains, almost impossible to beat.
Climbing- 10
Sprint- 6
Speed- 6
Endurance- 8
Veronica Forrester, 28 Yrs old, Qazox City. The 1st female ever to win a stage and to wear the Yellow jersey. While she finished a dissapointing 7th in last year's race, Veronica is back to prove that women can compete in this race and could become the first woman to win the Tour.

Pepper prefers barbecued ribs and cornish game hens as his pregame preparation.
Mike St-Jean
Climbing- 10
Sprint- 8
Speed- 4
Endurance- 8
St-Jean injects himself with anything he can find. He now weighs 300 pounds, although he's so buff.
Az-cz will submit riders 3:
Go-Gdjt:
Climbing- 5
Sprint- 10
Speed- 10
Endurance- 5
Go-Gdjt is not really a mountain biker, more of a speed cyclists. But since Az-czzers could care less about cycling as a sport he competes where he can. Hopefully he'll be a bit of a rabbit on mountain stages and dominate time trials.
Ed-Hlry:
Climbing - 10
Sprint -3
Speed - 7
Endurance - 10
Ed-Hlry is a grinder. When asked why he liked to mountain bike, he replied simply "because its there."
Grg-Lmnd:
Climbing -7
Sprint - 7
Speed -8
Endurance -8
If any of the Az-czzers are to do well in the overall tournament Grg-Lmnd is the one.

These are the choosen trio to represent Northern Caesarea in the Tour de Qazox.
Mikel Perurena
Climbing- 5
Sprint- 10
Speed- 5
Endurance- 10
Perurena is a very clever sprinter. He knows where to be in the end of the stages, even if his top-speed is not very high. He can win scores of stages if the rest of the team works as Cipollini's "Trenos"
Marino Induráin:
Climbing - 6
Sprint -5
Speed - 9
Endurance - 10
A very regular cyclist. He is the alternative for general overall
Mikel Lejarreta:
Climbing -8

Gruenberg
20-09-2006, 14:05
I love the idea, and do plan to one day do a Tour de Gruenberg. However, professional cycling tends to be team-based. Three people is not really a lot: if you include a sprinter, he's going to need lead-out men, yet your climber won't be any good at that, and your main cyclist won't want to waste energy doing this.
Are we then assuming that the team also has a number of domestiques, who we don't bother submitting stats for and who won't ever win anything, but will simply be there to pad out the realism? Or will national riders organize into teams?
((OOC-ya know Q- about a month ago i was seriously thinking about trying this exact same thing but couldn;t figure out how the heck i could include the various skill bonuses with mixed terrain, say a stage that starts out with some mountains but then finishes in flats. and was getting scorinator headaches too))
Tynelia sends in its trio
Karl Gordon age 27
The Tynelian King of the Mountain welcomes the challenge to add the title of the Oxen King of the Mountain as well. Gordon excells at the long climbs where his superior endurance can crack the better climbers over short distances.

Jerry Conroy age 29
The Tour de Tynelia runner up he made this trip because of the injury suffered by top cyclist Beau Jackson who injured his leg celebrating Tynelia's advancing to the Cup of Harmony knockout stages. Conroy's greatest weakness is that while he has the ability to stay with a breakway and hang on in the hills he lacks any sort of finishing kick to the line.

sprint-7

John McRoy age 25 McRoy is a time trial specialist who is rumored to serve mostly as domestique for Conroy in return for getting a chance to shine in the time trials. He is solid in the other areas thought not much of a threat to win any of them and lacks the long distance stamina of his teammates though it is hoped in a few years he will gain the edge needed to become a potential tour winner.

To be honest with you the riders of each nation are the team.. and as for the three people, Its far easier to track 2 or 3 people from a team than the usual 7 or 8.
Sign-ups will close on Saturday sept. 23rd at 12:01 am due to RL stuff, so I need to get this started (sorry about the rush..) The Prologue will take place on Monday.
SIGN-UPS ARE COMPLETE.. (OOC: brownwick you have until 9:00pm Eastern Time to post your riders or you'll be dropped sorry. if you do post riders, they will go off before Greg Johansen.)
(ooc2: Quak: you have too many points allocated please take 2 points off each of your riders. there's a 30 point limit thanks.)
I'll have the prologue results posted later today as I got to work over night on Saturday night/Sunday morning.. so here's the Prologue Order:
PROLOGUE: Lake Porter City, Qazox to Kraken, Green Wombat. Distance: 32.5 miles (52 km).
Rider's order, randomly drawn, except for Greg Johansen of Qazox. As defending Champion, he will ride last. (each rider will leave 1 minute after the previous one)

GOOD LUCK ALL AND SEE YOU IN QAZOX CITY in 3 weeks!!!
Announcing the Baz-Cz racing team.
Due to the small number of racers it has become apparent that it will be hard for the cyclists to provide the necessary support they usually get from their team. Therefore the nations of Bazalonia and Az-cz have decided to join forces to provide drafting protection and support to each other. As you can see the team will go by the moniker of Baz-cz.
With this action we hope to push each other towards greater heights. The two chasers who will be the most supported are Grg-Lmnd from Az-cz and Neil Johnson from Bazalonia. The other three cyclists will provide support, rabbits, and whatever other help they can provide.

Rachel: I'm Rachel Kool starting the coverage of the Tour de Qazox for JGN! The land of the current Women's World Cup champs. I'm with Jeruselem's team of three nice young men in training, in some really tight pants on.
Team: Hi everyone.
Rachel: In the team is Padroso Fina, Vance Jumberjack and Ricky Pointy Stick. They have numbers 9, 18 and 28 accordingly. This Jeruselem's first ever cycling team. We've got our soccer teams, golf team and now cycling. Hopefully we can emulate the Women's World Cup team effort lately.
Ricky: Yes, it's good to make history for our nation. I hope we can do our nation proud but don't expect miracles.
Rachel: First question, those suits are so tight! Us girlies have enough trouble with our dresses, but how to you deal with these?
Ricky: Well, you just get used to them. Some people think we all look gay or something, but we aren't. Some girls just love us in these suits.
Rachel: Yeah, I'm pretty excited to. Good thing Dazza isn't here. For training, Jeruselem isn't the idea place is it.
Ricky: Far from it, but it makes us tougher. We get used to tough conditions and when conditions are good, we can thrive. Yes, Jeruselem roads can cause havoc with bikes but we do get an idea if our bikes are tough enough.
Rachel: When you get to Qazox, you must feel a little strange being away from home. You rarely leave home.
Ricky: Yeah, true. Away from the missus and kids. We work in the day, and train by night. It's tough on the family life but I think we're ready for the big international move. We want more young men out there to learn about cycling. I know football is as big as religion in Jeruselem but maybe we could have some new cyclists from this.
Rachel: What about girls, you think they could take this up?
Ricky: Oh yes, you know Rachel - you'd look good in of these suits and on a bike. It's good for you. I encourage the women out there to have a go, even if it is for exercise. For single women, I think it's good way to keep fit and even find a man who likes cycling. I met my wife that way, she was cycling along and well, I followed. Burns off the fat, and you look good too. Even the kids love it.
Rachel: You're a smooth man, Ricky! But I'm a 150% football wife. That's it for now. Rachel will be with team when we go to Qazox. Good night and happy biking.
Tynelians Set for Tour de Qazox
Today a trio of Tynelians embark on what is reportedly one of the most grueling events in cycling- the Tour de Qazox. The favorite of the Tynelians has to be Jerry Conroy a five year veteran and Tour de Tynelia runner up. While not the swiftest of cyclists which will hurt him in the sprints the man known as “The Machine” for his steady unrelenting pace is expected to do well here. He is looking towards the mountains as the place to make his bid for the title.
The second of the three is the mountain specialist Karl Gordon who is expected to be side by side with Conroy in the mountain stages which will be good for both men to have a teammate to help them out. Gordon however lacks the all round skills to be seen as a serious contender for the maillot jaune. But many feel that the King of the Mountain is certainly in his reach. Some even argue that Conroy may actually be one of his more serious threats.
Finally the third member of the team is John McRoy who just finished his first Tour de Tynelia in 9th place. While some question his inclusion it seems many of the other top cyclists had already committed for to the Damak run in Tynelia, a four day event where each stage begins and ends in the Tynelian curling capital. McRoy jumped at the chance to participate here as he feels it will give him good experience for the future. Not considered a threat to win anything, McRoy is seen to be here just to help Conroy out in his chances.
With this first ever event most people aren’t really sure who to favor in this first ever event which makes things much more exciting than finding Starblaydia drawn into your World Cup group. This time no one will know what happens which makes this such an interesting race to watch.

First time trial starts well
The first time trial in the Qazox cycling championship started out nicely for the Baz-cz race team. However one would have to say it looks better for the Az-cz half of the partnership.
Go-Gdjt started out really well showing his sprint skills finishing second and currently holding the green jersey. Although he will probably have to give it up as Qwik of Okielahoma gives up the blue jersey.
Ross Gulliver of Bazalonia finished fourth showing that the Baz-cz partnership will have good sprinters to set the pace for them.
Grg-Lmnd finished in 18th but is still well positioned to make a run at the blue jersey. Expect him to move up the charts on the long second leg of the race.
Neil Sullivan, the main cyclists of the Bazalonia struggled a bit on opening day, but looks to rebound.
The Baz-cz team hopes their unity can carry them to the top of the charts in the next few stages of the tour.

Baz-Cz... The partnership between the Bazalonian riders and the Gnomes of Az-Cz has been a real benefit for both the two teams, Despite the pre-designated "leader" Bazalonian Neil Johnson being 1 minute and 51 seconds behind the pace
Ross Gulliver whoever is sitting in forth behind team mate and Az-Cz gnome Go-Gdjt both of the team mates are looking well-placed in the stadnings both in Overall time and Sprint, being 4th in both.
Ron Qwik is in the lead with the stage win and the blue jersey but it will take more than a good prologue for them to remain in the lead. As there are the 4 riders within 10 seconds of each other. In the mountain stages this triffling small and it will take the entire combination of the Baz-Cz squad to lift the multinational team to take first place in the tour De Qazox
The Baz-Cz team went into their accomodations and plotted their next ride, the one today was only a prologue... next one is going to show who really are the better riders.

Rachel: I'm Rachel Kool for JGN at the TOUR de QAZOX. I'm speaking to our sprinter Vance Jumberjack who came third today in the 1st stage, a fantastic effort! Padroso came in 19 and Ricky 22nd. Vance, that was unexpected.
Vance: Oh yeah, 0.04 seconds off being the main man. I surprised myself, but you gotta take success when it comes.
Rachel: That was one scramble, but you managed to get clear attack when it mattered at the end.
Vance: Ron was too good but all the sprinters around here are great. Anyone can win a sprint, you need a little luck and a good position or else you get jammed in with rest of the riders. It's sprinter's nightmare.
Rachel: The others didn't fare to so well, Vance.
Vance: It's my job to sprint for the team. I can't climb so well when it comes to that job, that's their job. I'm doing for the team like your soccer boys and girls.
Rachel: You have the bigger muscles than the others. That is normal for sprinter.
Vance: I'm a big man and for sprinters you need explosive speed. The others are tougher and fitter over a long distance so they don't need muscles like mine. Speed is my job - short distance and fast pace.
Rachel: It's a great job you're doing. Good luck.
Vance: Thanks Rachel. I wish to send my love to my family. I'm doing this because you want me to.
Rachel: That's it from JGN. It's not the FOOTBALL LIFE but the Tour de Qazox isn't boring. See you all next time and good night!
...
Dazza and Finn are watching TV.
Dazza: Well, interesting sport. Hey, how about we go cycling to see what's it's all about?
Finn: Except we don't have bicycles.
Dazza: I'll just borrow some old ones from my sister's gym. No need to buy them.
Finn: I don't know, I fall off bikes.
Dazza: Really? It's not that hard. I promise I won't race off like a rabbit.
Finn: As long I don't wear those tight suits.
Tynelians Off To Disappointing Start
In the first time trial of the Tour of Qazox the Tynelian entrants found themselves quickly at a disadvantage. Only John McRoy managed to do decently with a 7th place finish in the stage only 27 seconds back of Tour leader Ron Quik. This was actually a better than expected development from McRoy though it must be noted that time trials are his strongest event.
The favored Tynelian to win this Jerry Conroy had a poor showing to this tour with a disappointing 20th place showing 1 minute and 39 seconds back of the leader. While he is not that strong a time trialist Conroy had hoped to at least be in the top half of the field. Conroy looks to stay close before making an expected move in stage three when the first hills are encountered. Conroy is still confident that he will be there in the end.
The last entrant Karl Gordon didn’t put in that much of an effort with his second to last place showing. Clearly saving his energy for the mountain stages, Gordon finds himself 2 minutes 22 second back already.
Finally it was neglected to be mentioned earlier that Pep-co Cola , the Tynelian favorite soft drink, is the official sponsor of this Tour de Qazox team and is represented by the red and blue jerseys of the team members. Pep-co is confident that this venture will help increase awareness of cycling throughout Tynelia.
Wow, the deadline for signups must've changed like three different times. I'll take the hint and kindly invest my time somewhere else.
No. I only set one Saturday at midnight.. I'm sorry if you missed it. and RP is cut off for the Prologue. the restlts will be up shortly.

Baz-cz team positioning itself well
The Baz-cz team is looking strong after the second leg of the course. Although they have yet to win any leg, they are looking strong overall and as the only group of cyclists who seemed to have united together they should be able to use their team strength to push to the front of the pack.
With the first two legs being flat legs the two sprinters have pushed towards the front of the pack. Ross Gulliver of Bazalonia sits in third place overall and Go-Gdjt of Az-cz sits just behind him in fourth place overall, 11 seconds behind Gulliver's pace.
The two main cyclists of the team Grg-Lmnd and Neil Johnson are both stills in the middle of the pack, but neither can be too worried about their position at this point. Grg-Lmnd sits in 16th overall and Neil Johnson sits in 20th, but as the sprinters fall back to the pack expect them to move up the rankings.
As for the fifth member of the team Ed-Hlry sits near the back of the pack in 28th. However considering that he is a climbing specialist he will definitely benefit as the tour starts to move into the mountains. He's expected to provide a big push for Grg-Lmnd and Johnson during those mountain stages.
It's too early for anyone to have put their stamp on this tour yet. Clearly we expect the homeside Qazox cyclists to move to the front and the cyclists from Jeruselem seem like they ought to provide stiff competition, but if the Baz-cz team comes together we see no reason that chasers from one of those two countries can't take the Blue Jersey.

Ross Gulliver, the first person in the overall standings not to have a coloured jersey on is set for the upcoming stage, As a sprinter, he needs to have a late run and conserve his energy throughout the race, where as Neil Johnson, the main rider for Bazalonia charged up the pack and was only 5 seconds behind his compatriate and fellow team member.
As for the other team members from the Az-Cz delegation of the Baz-Cz team, Go-Gdjt sits only 11 seconds behind Ross, taking the fourth spot.
Grg-Lmnd and Neil Johnson sit 36 seconds apart in the middle order of the tournament and it will be the climbing stages, as the sprinters start to drop off. It looks like there is harmony within the group as it seems all four of them are working together to achieve their goals.
Now whether this unity will continue through out the Tour particularily to the end stages, is uncertain. I guess if one Bazalonian and one Az-czer are in the potential running then tensions might get strained but at this point it is too early and a great multitude of things could happen. This race is not over yet, for indeed it has only just begun.

Rachel: This is Rachel Kool at the Tour de Qazox. I'm here for cycling not women's soccer! I'm travelling with the team and JGN is helping cycling in Jeruselem. Cycling may not be big in Jeruselem but JGN thinks it's next big thing. I'm with Ricky Pointy Stick.
Ricky: You look sweet Rachel. Glad to be here!
Rachel: Thanks Ricky. Day 2 and Stage one is over. Vance did a great sprinting job being 3rd yesterday and today, Ricky turned up in fourth. As expected, Vance struggled and finished 20th while Padroso Fina come home 14th. Actually, for a rookie team like a great result.
Ricky: That Zak K Speed was too good today. I tried to keep up with the leading bunch but Zak had rockets on at the end. I was lucky to finish 4th really, but we endure and fight to the end. Those Northern Caesareans gave me a really hard time and they got past me at the end too. But 4th is not too bad, even if I was 48 seconds off the pace.
Rachel: Padroso seems to be struggling while Vance did well for sprinter today.
Ricky: Vance held up well, but Padroso's results aren't flash. His time will come later, but for now as a team 3rd and 4th is not bad at all. Actually, Padroso Fina is 17th out of 30 so he's underperforming but he's not far away either. Vance is our best so far but he will suffer on the mountain stages.
Rachel: Any changes to the game plans?
Ricky: Not really. Maybe not trying too much too early, but this is cycling. The best cyclists are here and we can easily get wiped out by better tacticians.
Rachel: Now, any news from the injury side?
Ricky: Lucky so far, but as we progress riders will be feeling the pressure. All of us fall from time to time but we just get up and ride again. We have to.
Rachel: That's it from the Tour de Qazox. Me and team on the 3rd day, 2nd stage. Don't miss it. Now for Dazza Dallas presenting Girly Soccer live from Jerusalem United stadium. People if you hate soccer, do some cycling.

Tynelians Shuffle After First Stage
After a below expected showing in the prolouge Team Pepco hoped to improve their positions on the first flat stage of the Tour de Qazox. There was a change in the maillot jaune as Zak K Speed won the stage by 37 seconds which was more than enough to put him ahead of day 1 leader Ron Quik by 25 seconds. Quik however keeps the sprinter's blue jersey as he now sits in second place overall.
Team Pep-co had another so-so outing but did manage to make up a little ground in the overall rankings. John McRoy, whoi statered the day in 7th as best Tynelian after a pretty good time trial had trouble keeping the pace and stumbled home in 23rd place. This disappointing run dropped him down to 14th place 1 minute 23 seconds behind Speed.
The other two members of the squad did actually move up. Karl Gordon surprised a few experts with a strong for him 13th place 1 minute 14 seconds as the twelve man peloton broke apart a bit as some put a bit more of a sprint into the last 500m to pick up a few seconds. This result moved Gordon up to 23rd from his earlier second to last place showing in the time trial. Clearlky the lure of the first major climb put a little extra energy into his cycling today.
Finally Jerry Conroy had another below expectations showing with a 21st place finish 1 minute 33 seconds back of Speed. However this finish actually moved him up to 18th from the 20th spot he started the day at. Like Gordon, Conroy seems to be waiting for the hills to start before going to the attack. At only 2 minutes 19 seconds back of the leader one good day in the mountains should be able to get him right back into contention again.
With an intermediate stage with one big climb up next for the Tour, it will be interesting to see how the sprinters can hold up once the incline starts increasing and see who will try to step forward to take command of the Tour de Qazox.

Tough day for the Baz-cz team
On the first stage of the tour that started to have a climb the Baz-cz team was expecting to make their move up the charts, but they never really got going.
Perhaps most responsible for dragging the team down was Ed-Hlry. He wasn't able to take advantage of his climbing prowress and only managed to finish 27th, leading to him falling to dead last for the whole tour.
Ross Gulliver also struggled on the day finishing 28th, although not as big of a suprise as he is a sprint specialist and couldn't handle the climb.
However there were some decent runs on the day. Both of the remaining Az-cz chasers stayed firmly in the middle of the pack. Grg-Lmnd finished 14th and Go-Gdjt finished 16th. Grg-Lmnd currently sits in 13th for the overall tour and Go-Gdjt remains near the top, in fifth place.
The best run of the day came from the Bazalonian Neil Johnson. He finished 9th on the day and moved well up the charts to just in front of Grg-Lmnd in 12th.
It's currently very tight to try to determine which of those two will be the lead cyclist for the Baz-cz team. Although Go-Gdjt sits in fifth he isn't expected to be involved at the end. When the mountain stages really kick in those two will separate themselves.
Although the Baz-cz side has yet to establish themselves like they'd hoped, they are heartened by the fact that none of the sides they were most worried about has really established themselves either. The two Jeruselem cyclists sitting in sixth and seventh do seem like the cyclists to be most concerned about going forward.

Dazza: I'm Dazza Dallas. So why the hell is Dazzas standing in front of a nice red Ferrari in some skimpy red dress? Because I like Ferraris! Actually, I'm covering the Tour De Qazox too, from home. I'm with car, motorcycle and bike dealer Bob Fina, a relative of Padroso Fina who had a really bad day today. Vance and Ricky are doing really well, and Bob's helping them too.
Bob: Hi everyone.
Dazza: I know you sell these, but I didn't know you also sell racing bikes.
Bob: Yes, if it goes fast I sell it. From here I sell the best racing bikes that even the pros use. Of course, there are cheaper models for the average person to buy too - ones which don't require a morgage.
Dazza: What is the difference between a bike used on the Tour de Qazox and one used by the average person.
Bob: Well, a guy like Ricky can't use a normal bike. It's too heavy, the parts are not designed to tested to the max when racing and they are not designed for speed. Pro bikes use the best technology to improve speed, reduce weight and increase reliability. This means using exotic materials like carbon fibre.
Dazza: How much for bike like Ricky's for example?
Bob: About 50,000 shekels. Yes, a small car price but those bikes are tough.
Dazza: OK, so they are Ferrari of cycling those bikes?
Bob: Yes, that's a good comparison.
Dazza: Your customers?
Bob: Mainly rich people and pro sports people. They want the best, Bob will import the best. The Jeruselem team ride bikes I get for them.
Dazza: What would you recommend to say the cyclist with no money?
Bob: Well, get a decent bike which you can fix. Things will break off them and be prepared for buying lots of tyres. One with a strong frame, and don't buy crappy bikes with bad gear systems. Buy quality. And tip from Bob, if the new bike has rust in the showroom, don't buy it. It won't last.
Dazza: What about the girls? They use different bikes it seems.
Bob: To be honest, get a man's bike. There's no real difference.
Dazza: This is Dazza Dallas for JGN talking to a Jeruselem Cycling team sponsor. Sweet dreams and Dazza needs to talk to Bob about that Ferrari!
<Camera turns off>
Bob: Bob does the best deals on cars, motorbikes and bicycles. How about you help in my ads, and I can get nice Ferrari in cheaper for you. Simple stuff, sitting on the car looking sexy and just saying a few words. Nothing complicated. Getting celebs to do ads these days is so expensive.
Dazza: Sounds good - and I can trade in my old Renault? I'm keeping the Mazda.
Bob: As long we as we can resell it again and the thing isn't wrecked.
Dazza: It's a little old, but it's fine apart from a few dings. I sound like a whore, but let's do it. I get a Ferrari for doing your ads.

With the first real climb of the Tour before another short time trial, it was thought that Team Pep-Co members Jerry Conroy and Karl Gordon would finally have a chance to make an impact in the Tour de Qazox. Unfortunately for the team only one of the two stepped up in stage 2.
Karl Gordon made a statement that he will be a factor in the King of the Mountains with a strong 5th place finish in stage 2. Gordon was hampered by the fact that an eight man breakaway took off early in the stage which left him well behind when the hill began. Cycling hard once his favored mountains started up, Gordon led a chase group of six which included the maillot jaune Zak K Speed. The group caught four of the breakaway but the remaining four maintained their edge until the end where Michel Canard of NMS took the stage win by six seconds over Mikel Lejarreta from Northern Caesarea who started the day fifth overall.
This second place finish however enabled Lejarreta to claim the maillot jaune as his own after stage 2 by 11 seconds over Speed who was dropped to 8th in the chase group sprint won by Gordon who finished fifth overall but two spots shy of getting any points in the King of the Mountain now led by Canard who also moved into fourth overall with his win.
Godron moved up to 18th place with this finish right behind teammate John McRoy who had a lackluster 21st place finish on the stage and hopes to rebound in the sprint tomorrow. They are 2:58 and 2:59 behind the leader right now.
The major shock came from Jerry Conroy who was expected to do well in the hills but instead suffered a crash 15km from the finish line after puncturing a tire, which cost him valuable time. He ended up finishing with some of the sprinters 3:04 back on the stage. Now this also meant he dropped to 27th in the standings 4:28 back with the short time trial tomorrow. Not noted as a strong time trialist, Conroy hopes to at least improve his overall ranking some and will no doubt hope for some better luck when the hills return.
And on that note RP for Stage 2 is no done... Stage Three coming up..

Baz-cz team looks strong, Go-Gdjt earns Green Jersey
The Baz-cz team was definitely the top squad on day 4. With 3 in the top 10 and 2 of the top 3 chasers the Baz-cz team had quite a good running pushing the whole team well up the charts.
Leading the way was Go-Gdjt. Although he was just pipped to the wire by Vance Lumberjack their times were identical for scoring purposes. This allowed Go-Gdjt to move to the top of the sprint standings.
Just behind the top two was Ross Gulliver of Bazalonia a mere 7 seconds outside of the pace.
Grg-Lmnd rounded out the top ten with a nice showing to keep his overall chances well alive.
Even Ed-Hlry showed some spark today finishing 16th on a sprint course, a big accomplishment for the chaser.
The only disappointment for the team was Neil Johnson of Bazalonia. He finished a disappointing 22nd and fell off the pace that he and Grg-Lmd were holding together.
Currently Go-Gdjt is sitting fourth overall and Grg-Lmnd and Ross Gulliver are just outside the top 10 looking to make their moves.
Talking with the team here's the team plan of attack for tomorrow. They want to rabbit one of the sprinters early then use Ed-Hlry to guide them up the hill then send the sprinters and the main riders near the end of the course. With Ed-Hlry currently sitting in 29th he has gladly accepted his role to help his teammates move up the charts. He'll get his first real chance to do so tomorrow and we're hoping it pays off.

Rachel: Hey, you're the man today!
Vance: Thanks, my wife says that too when she's in the mood. Yeah, gotta be happy with the time trial like this.
Rachel: Considering no one knew who you were before, now a top 3 sprinter in the Tour de Qazox. People are paying some attention now.
Vance: Considering the best sprinters are here, I'm doing well. It's a long way to go. Only 3 stages done so far. I have keep up with other two sprinters all the way.
Rachel: It's amazing how power you generating around the course. You just get faster and faster.
Vance: I'm designed to speed and I have really powerful leg muscles built to accelerate which means I'm hopeless at changing speeds all the time. I tend to just start a slow, built up and finish fast. I hate stop-starting. which means long stages don't suit me, that's why Ricky does so well there.
Rachel: Padroso didn't have a bad day at all in 14h, and Ricky was almost last in 28th.
Vance: Padroso can sort of sprint but Ricky isn't that kind of person. I'm a go-all-out-and-attack man while the others are tactical riders. I'm hopeless at tactics, so I just get used to test the opposition's resolve but hope to finish when I burn out.
Rachel: You are 5th overall which is pretty good for a sprinter.
Vance: My problem is I'm not really an all-rounder so the result is flattering really. Ricky will be ahead of me at the end.
Rachel: You are really composed for sprinter, not making too much of everthing. Don't talk a lot either.
Vance: I let my manager do all the talking, or my wife. I just get the job done as best as possible. It's easy to talking to you, because you look like my sister except she's a little taller.
Rachel: It's good talking to you and hopefully, a few more wins. That's it for JGN at the Tour de Qazox. Vance the man wins the 3rd stage, but there's some climbing next stage which should suit the other team members more. Good night all. Now, coming up next is Jerusalem United vs Beersheba United. Dazza, Finn and co are playing don't miss it or the cycling.

Rachel: Hey Ricky, That was another great performance. You can't sprint but when it comes to distance you are the man.
Ricky: Slow and steady, that's me. The master of energy conservation. The boys did well as a team today - everyone did well.
Rachel: 24 seconds of the best two cyclists in the Tour today is not bad going. You just could not keep up with the final sprint at the end.
Ricky: Well, I tried but didn't have enough on the day. I can't complain as I made up ground in the standings.
Rachel: 3rd today for Ricky, while Padroso was 52 seconds off the pace in 13th and Vance did really well for a sprinter in 19th, only 1 minute and 17 seconds away.
Ricky: It was tight racing today with few break aways actually working apart from mine at the end. The team did well to keep within a minute of winner, so overall our tactics worked well.
Rachel: The next stage is the 2nd longest at 242 KM, but flat. How do you think the team will handle that?
Ricky: No problems for me, but Vance should like it too. He might even make the top 10 if he's in right place at right time. Padroso is working up the field now, but he's got quite a time gap to close. Being flat, breaking away is easy but then you get shut down real easy too. I think the winners will sprint at the last corner, hopefully one of us will be there.
Rachel: The other riders are looking for Jeruselem riders now, you think that's a sign of how good we are?
Ricky: well, it is. No one though Jeruselem had real cyclists - until now. Me and the team are putting Jeruselem on the cycling map. I know the soccer team have two Women's World cups and two under 21 cups but maybe a Tour De Qazox? It's not impossible.
Rachel: I don't see coach around much
Ricky: He's hiding in the car all the time. He only gives advice when needed - he believes in self-develepment of riders.
Rachel: I noticed a "Rachel" tattoo on your arm there.
Ricky: That's my wife's name, and your too but I'm one of your fans too. My wife jokes around "I'm Rachel Kool" sometimes when she's drunk. She's a bit like you too which is KOOL by me. Man I'm lucky, a Rachel at home and one at work.
Rachel: You like the attention from the Podium girls?
Ricky: Oh yeah, you'd make a good podium girl, but then you and Dazza are the UBER CHICKS of Jeruselem.
Rachel: Well, you're a ladies man for real and I think your name says it all. This Rachel Kool for JGN at the Tour de Qazox with smooth Ricky here. I tell you, he's a charmer. Maybe we should name this little show KOOL RIDERS.
Ricky: Sounds good to me!
Rachel: How you don't look tired when you're on TV?
Ricky: I'm like you, born to be seen and heard all over the world with style. Say, how is Harry?
Rachel: Can't disagree with that Ricky. Well, he's got the kids and I'm working. He does some consultancy with the Jeruselem FA from time to time. Well, good night all and as Dazza says sweet dreams!

<somewhere in a dark alley somewhere in Qazox>
“What’s in this junk you’ve been giving me? I’ve had the worse racing ever since I started taking this garbage.” Jerry Conroy demanded of the other man standing in the shadows.
“What’s wrong man? This is the best performance inhibitor in the market today. Two drops of this in anyone’s drink and its guaranteed to drop their performance by at least 10%.” the other replied.
“INHIBITOR!?!” Conroy roared before remembering where he was and lowered his voice as he continued. “You idiot! I wanted a performance ENHANCER not a damned inhibitor, I’m the one taking this stuff you moron dammit! No wonder I’ve biked so lousy. Get me some enhancers damn you before I blow the whole damned race.”
“Easy man, don’t get your tighties all bunched up here. I can get you some of that stuff tomorrow, but it’ll take a while for th other stuff to run through your system man. Might be a week before the stuff is done and you’ll see any benefit from the new stuff.”
“I don’t care, hell if the new stuff can just get me back to normal I’ll worry about getting on the plus side afterwards. Do you know how badly I’m doing right now.”
“Well man, next time your people should get the order right. I just sell what the slip says. I don’t worry about the who and whats of it all. But I’ll get you the good stuff you want now. I’ll even drive ahead and meet you at the next stop on your race thing. It’ll be alright.”
“It damned well better be or I’m taking my business somewhere else next time around. Now I have to get back to the hotel now. You better be waiting with some enhancers next time we meet.”
<Conroy leaves the alley>
More of The Same From Tynelia
In what is beginning to look like a disappointing tour for team Pep-co, the short time trial again proved to be too much for mountain challenger Karl Gordon who matched his second to last place showing from the Prologue. Equally disappointing was Jerry Conroy who dropped to third to last overall after another poor showing.
The only bright spot comes from the man no one would thought would do anything but caddy for Conroy, John McRoy. With his seventh place tie in the time trial, McRoy gained three points in the race for the green jersey. McRoy is still stuck in the middle of the pack moving up one spot to 17th place. With another climb coming next stage look for Gordon to try and earn some king of the mountain points and for Conroy to try and do something positive in the Tour de Qazox for the first time.
stage 4
Poor Tour Showings Continue
In yet another disappointing day none of the team pep-co members made any sort of move during stage 4, a mixed course with early hills before straightening out. The field stood together for the most part with Karl Gordon posting the best finish for the team. Staying amidst the peleton Gordon finished 17th, last of the eleven riders in the bunch. Following behind in the next two groups of stragglers came Jerry Conroy in 22nd and John Mcroy in 24th.
These finishes still keep all three teammates in the bottom half of the field with Gordon now besting McRoy by a second as they line up 17th and 18th overall. Jerry Conroy moves up slightly overall to 26th but still finds himself losing time daily.
The next stage however looks to benefit both Gordon and Conroy as the second longest stage of the tour takes place. Despite their poor times, conditioning has always been a strength of the duo and this may be the point where one or both of them can finally make a move. Despite the poor showing to date a Team pep-co spokesman expects at least one top five finisher in tomorrow’s run. The spokesman also hinted that either Conroy or Gordon is planning to attack the field in an attempt to pull back a large chunk of time in this stage. Time all three team members certainly are in need of.

Peleton day at the races
Today was a day when things grouped up wildly. There was hardly any seperation between races and basically everybody stayed together.
This can be best seen by looking at the top three Baz-cz racers on the day. The two Bazalonians finshed 7th and 8th while Grg-Lmnd finished 12th. As for the difference between 7th and 12th? 0 seconds. So despite a lower place Grg-Lmnd stayed on exactly the same pace.
This tournament continues to be unpredictable as it seems that the name of the racer has more to do with their finish then their training. It seems that the Tynelia, Jeruselem and Baz-cz teams are doing the most training but they are in the middle of the pack while inexplicably Zak Speed has moved to the top. Suprisingly Northern Caesarea is also looking quite strong.
The Baz-cz team is still in the hunt but they'll have to start improving their performances if they really want to make noise on this tour.

Jeruselem
29-09-2006, 12:18
Rachel: I'm Rachel Kool at the Tour de Qazox. A great day for Jeruselem today on a really tough long day for all concerned. I'm with Ricky and Padroso.
Ricky: It's good to see you after a long days slog. Man I am tired.
Padroso: Me too ...
Rachel: Fantastic result as team effort, Ricky 4th and Padroso 5th. Ricky was only 41 seconds off the pace and Padroso 55 seconds. Poor old Vance had a hard day, but all the sprinters suffered badly - they mostly came around last. vance was 29, almost last. I think he's probably asleep by now.
Ricky: Tough stage but as a team we did really well. Vance didn't enjoy it much but then all the sprinters don't like long stages anyway. I was happy but you can see why Padroso is in the team. Me and Padroso might not be fast, but we are tough. Endurance is our strength here.
Padroso: Well, the first four stages were a non-event for me, I just didn't perform at all. Today me and Ricky stuck together and almost got into the top 3. We may not be star individuals like Zak K Speed but together we made the results.
Rachel: OK, we have a long climbing stage next. Confident?
Padroso: This is when the climbers will perform and poor old Vance will once again suffer. I don't expect to win these type of stages but me and Ricky will try to put in a good result. We may not win stages, but Ricky staying in the top ten is our main aim at the moment. It's a bonus if I do well as well.
Ricky: Padroso isn't out of it at all. If he does well in climbing, then that 5 minute deficit is small. He could come back into the upper rankings. Look now, he's almost caught vance. For Vance, it's just torture the next stage. Vance might win the sprinter's jersey yet, all he needs is some luck. Padroso is a good climber and he can sprint better than me - he might do really well.
Rachel: Any girl in your life Padroso?
Padroso: Me, no. I'm sad single cyclist. No one wants me.
Ricky: I do try to help but most girls like soccer players, ones with money and all. I'm sure you can relate Rachel.
Rachel: I suppose I'm the uber soccer wife - married to best ever soccer coach in Jeruselem for the World Cup. Don't stop some from flirting with me, like you Ricky.
Ricky: I like my Rachels. I can't help it.
Padroso: And there's guys like me who cycle and drive trucks. No love life whatsoever, as soccer players to have recreation time but not me.
Rachel: Hey Padroso, you're famous now. There's millions Jeruselem girls watching you now and they might be interested. Don't lose hope.
Ricky: Don't worry, there's always a Rachel Kool out there for you or a Dazza if you prefer.
Padroso: I really hope so.
Rachel: Now, I know Ricky is best climber here so who's going for the line?
Ricky: Depends who's closer. I can't sprint to save my life but Padroso might have a chance if he's close enough. I hope he does.
Padroso: I couldn't catch Ricky today despite his inability to sprint, so my sprinting is overestimated. Vance the man there.
Rachel: This is Rachel Kool at the Tour de Qazox, tomorrow is the rest day and then a hellish climbing stage after that. The boys here will rest and then put themselves through hell just for the love of it all for the nation. Goodnight all.

Signs of Life From Team Pepco
In the second longest day of the Tour, team Pep-co finally found reasons for hope. Taking advantage of their endurance during long races, something which they hope will help them near the end of the Tour when everyone starts getting tired, the team put two cyclists in the top 10 for the first time this Tour.
Karl Gordon again lead the way with a sixth place finish arriving at the line with Padroso Fina from Jeruselem both 55 seconds back of the stage winner Marino Indurain of Northern Caesarea. These two pulled away from the chase group near the end as the group of five strung out near the end. last of the chase group was Jerry Conroy who had his best showing of the Tour to date. Conroy seemed to have a little extra energy out there today and its hoped that this is a sign of good things to come in the mountains where Gordon is also expected to do well. John McRoy had a poor showing today finishing in the bottom third of the field well back of the leaders.
This result however launched Gordon into ninth in the overall classification 4:14 back with two racers only seconds ahead. With the mountains looming Gordon may actually be able to make a move in the overall standings as well as making his expected run at the King of the Mountain title. If he was not such a poor time trialist people might consider Gordon to have an outside chance of a podium spot. Conroy's strong showing moved him up to 22nd place, ones spot behind McRoy but both are nearly 6 minutes back. Its thought that Conroy may not be a strong enough climber to come back from this deficit but certainly he hopes to at least move into the top half of the field.

1 Out of Three Isn't Bad Right?....
Over the past few days 3 Quakmybushian Cyclists have been participating in the Tour de Qazox. 1 of these 3 cyclists has been doing good while the other 2, not quite as well. After 5 Stages, this is where the Quakmybushian Cyclists sit; Lance Legstrong sits 5th, 2:37 behind. Pëtr Vladimirovič Surikov sits 23rd 6:05 behind. Sepp Neitemeier sits dead last, 30th over 7 minutes behind. Hopefully the team can improve on their run.
QSPN2 coverage of the TOUR de QAZOX
Hi folks I'm Rick Prendergast, 3-time winner of the TOUR de QAZOX and your host for the weekly update. Today is a rest day for the riders, and so far Qazox is doing well, but the early surprise so far has been the riders from Northern Caesarea Marino Induráin and Mikel Lejarreta. Both riders are in the top 5, meaning NC is the only country with that distinction. I'm now joined in the studio by a fellow three-time winner and defending champion, Greg Johansen. Welcome Greg.
Greg: Hi Rick, glad to be here you old goat.
Rick: After the 1st 5 stages and the Prologue, you are currently sitting in 6th place, almost 3 minutes behind the surprising leader, Zak K Speed of the Mushroom Kingship. How is this race different when you are the defending champ?
Greg: There's more pressure on you and everyone wants to know or knows where you are on the course at every minute. Sometimes towards the end of a stage the riders will you will try to cut or 'accidently' bang into you. Its more of a mental challenge than a physical one, at least early on.
Rick: up next is the first true mountain stage, granted you aren't the best climber, but is there a chance for you to pick up some lost time?
Greg: Of course. the riders in front of me in the standings aren't as good in the mountains, so I should at least pass them, but most of the guys right behind me are a bit better climbing than I am, so hopefully after the mountains, I'll be in a good place to win.
Rick: Thanks for your time and good luck tommorrow. That's all for now, stay tuned to QSPN2 for live coverage of the National Foos-ball championships.
PREVIEW OF STAGE 6:
Day 8 Stage 6: Graverville to Joehio. Distance: 106.2 miles (170 km). One long climb as the mountain stages begin. Climbers will make up some time, but some flat portions towards the end of the stage could see some great sprints to the finish.
(ooc: I'm not going to be one tommorrow, so Day 8 Stage 6 results will be up on Sunday.. guess this really is a rest-day.. so Rp away as too way.. too rainy.. an avalanche.. terrorists.. long lines at the steroid booth.. just somw ideas.. see you on sunday!!)
Miscue Forces Delay in Stage 8
In what may be an embarrasing developement for the Tour de Qazox organizers a mapping miscue has forced a one day delay in today's stage. Stage six, which was to go from Graverville to Joehio ran into trouble when the cyclists arrived only to find their bikes hadn't.
It seems in a typo the equipment trucks and support vehicles for the teams were given a map which had the start of the stage at the nearby town of Craverville. The arrival of the teams' equipment shocked the people of the sleepy village, at least the few who hadn;t travelled to the posted Tour route to watch the race. It took some time to get everything straight and by the time the teams could get their bikes moved to the right location the organizers decided to delay the stage one day to give teams a chance to get reorganized after the miscue. The mapmaker was rumored to be banished through time and space from the Continuum for his error.

"Welcome here for another edition of How Much the World Sucks. I am Howard Sam Uck, and today the main feature is again about the tour de QAZOX, and why the people driving the truck with the bikes of the cyclers suck. We're now going live to Ben Hodibi, who just returned from prison for abusing the martentopian law which states that you may not swear against the country on TV. That law sucks, by the way!"
"Hi, Howard. Well, i'll tell you why the people driving the trucks with the bikes of the cyclers suck: they stink like baloney! Oh, and they can't even do their job properly. We brought a truck driver here to the studio in QAZOX (which sucks becasue it doesn't have airconditioning) in order to throw some rotten apples at him. Give a hand for Gordon Truckdriva, one of the truckdrivers who sent the bikes to the wrong place!"

Rachel: Ricky, did you know you are ranked 2nd in tour?
Ricky: Really? Wow, who's first?
Rachel: Zak K Speed.
Ricky: Cool. That was hard work, but then I'm not a pro climber. 12th isn't bad considering all the climbers beat me in Stage 6. I'm happy anyway.
Rachel: Padroso Fina came 16th and Vance Jumberjack 27th. No bad really?
Ricky: Padroso isn't a bad climber and sprinters hate climbing. At least Vance didn't come last.
Rachel: You sure are making waves now. People might laugh at your sprinting but you are just a star.
Ricky: Wo, that's what my wife Rachel says a lot. Oh that's right you're Rachel too. Yeah, I can't sprint as I always say but I can do everything else and more. He he.
Rachel: That looked like hard work.
Ricky: Oh yes, I maybe good at it but it is hard work. It's not pure speed but endurance and more endurances. You can't just go fast, you go just have grind your way up the mountain. One big grind and it is hard to keep on the bike when all you want to do is rest. The sprinters hate climbing as I've said before but little folks like me thrive on it.
Rachel: Padroso did well, only about 20 seconds away. He's getting better.
Ricky: He's the team man. He won't win but he's doing all he can to help me win as I think he's worked out he needs a miracle to win. Vance can help me too when final sprints come, by taking the points away from other riders.
Rachel: What now?
Ricky: More climbing but a shorter distance. A climbers dream once again but Ricky will try to keep in the top 3.
Rachel: Hey, you don't look tired at all.
Ricky: I am but I don't sweat a lot.
Rachel: You do look a wobbly.
Ricky: That's why we need the bike to lean on. And some girls to look at.
Rachel: Naughty, naughty. I'm a lucky girl, he he.
Gordon Wins Stage For Team Pep-co
Today in a first for Tynelian cycling, mountains specialist Karl Gordon took stage 6 by half a bike length in a same time finish with John Linkin Wilkins Kollv'sbayer from Martenopolis. This is the first ever stage win for Team Pep-co and after a very slow start to the tour, things may be looking up at last here in the mountains.
The duo pulled away in the last km from Ed-Hlry from Az-cz who finished third six seconds back. Their three man breakaway managed to hold off a chase group of six riders who ended up finishing 23 to 37 seconds back as they too separated over the last few km. This finish puts Gordon tied with Koll’sbayer for first in the King of the Mountain race with another day in the mountains ahead. The former leader Michel Canard from NMS in the race for the Red jersey finished eight but still picked up a couple points to hold onto to third place in the standings. This finish, one which found tour leader Zak K Speed from the Mushroom Kingship a distant 21st, moved Gordon into 5th overall only 1:59 behind the leader.
With another day of climbing ahead its conceivable that Gordon could very well find himself in the maillot jaune of the tour leader. In fact of the current top 10 in the overall standings four of the cyclists finished in the top ten in today’s hilly stage and Gordon is placed placed of them all. Second place Ricky Pointy Stick from Jeruselem fared best of the four cyclists ahead of Gordon with a 12th place finish 1:17 back of Gordon today.
Stick in fact finished with Jerry Conroy who placed 14th in a group of three. While riding a bit better the last couple of stages with a pair of top half finishes, Conroy’s chances of winning the Tour seem to be dimming. His finish today left him 17th overall though he did pick up a minute on Speed’s overall time as the climbers begin to make their move on the early leaders from the sprint.
John McRoy had a tough day in the hills with an 18th place finish barely finishing ahead of the sprinters. Trailing Speed’s time on the stage, McRoy finds himself freefalling to 25th place overall now. His brief time in the top ten now a distant memory. His biggest goal now may very well be to find a way to get into the top five in the green jersey sprinters race or to possibly win one of the remaining time trials.
Rp cut-off for Stage 6... and Stage 7 is now posted below this post.

Up next: Stage 8: New Bruxen to Monteverde. Distance: 89.3 miles (142.9 km). The toughest stage with 5 different climbs totaling 4500 feet, after an almost 6000 ft ride down the back side of Mt. Carlo. The chances for accidents are very high during the early part of the stage due to the steep decent.

Maillot Jaune For Gordon
In another amazing run in the mountains, Team Pep-co’s Karl Gordon was on the wrong end of a sprint to the finish in today’s stage. In a near repeat of yesterday’s stage Gordon was on a breakaway once again with Ed-Hlry from Az-cz and John Linkin Wilkins Kollv'sbayer from Martenopolis. This time Kollv’sbayer had trouble over the final few km and dropped off the pace leaving Gordon and Hlry to battle for the win. In the end Gordon didn’t have enough energy for the final surge at the end and Gordon conceded the win to Hlry when he sat up in the final 50m knowing he couldn’t catch him, finishing 2 seconds back and 15 seconds ahead of Kollv’sbayer. Only two other riders could stay within a minute of this trio so it seems clear that the King of the Mountain will come from one of these three cyclists as early leader Michel Canard of NMS finished a distant 12th today.
However the big news, is that while Gordon claimed the king of the Mountain lead outright a bigger reward was waiting for him at the finish as well. With Tour leader Zak K Speed from the Mushroom Kingship finishing 15th some 2:51 back, Gordon now finds himself wearing the Maillot Jaune of the Tour leader as well. The race is still pretty tight at this point however. Jerusalem’s Ricky Pointy Stick had another solid day in the hills finishing 10th 1:45 back and remains in second 25 seconds back. Taking a big jump as well in the mountains is Kollv’sbayer who moves into third 34 seconds back while Speed drops to fourth 50 seconds back.
As for the rest of the squad, Jerry Conroy had one of his better days hanging with the chase group most of the day before losing ground on the final climb. Still he finished a strong seventh 1:10 back. This run has now finally moved him into the top half of the field at 13th though still 4:09 back which is still an improvement from the last stage. John McRoy continues his struggles in the hills finishing a distant 21st which leaves him 23rd overall.
Now up next is the toughest mountain stage of the tour. Some fell there could be some huge time gaps involved in this stage. And at the moment both the King of the Mountain and maillot jaune will certainly be hotly contested between Gordon and Kollv’bayer with no doubt Hlry in the mix for the stage win as well and looking for the king of the mountain jersey in its own right. On the other hand after two days of breaking the field down, will any or all of these three riders pay for it tomorrow and someone else takes the stage win?

Rachel: Hi this is Rachel Kool from the Tour de Qazox. I'm with Ricky Pointy Stick once again, the others are too tired to be here.
Ricky: Hi everyone, love to my family.
Rachel: How to you do this? 10th today with Padroso 13 and poor old Vance 27th. And then you are 2nd, 25 seconds off the pace. Soccer players don't have this kind of endurance?
Ricky: Well, this is what we train for every day. It's torture but it's what we do for a living.
Rachel: Those mountains look awful and you cycle all the way. You are really tough! And then we have worse mountain stage next, 89.3 miles. The people out there must be interested in how you guys survive this.
Ricky: It's all mental really. Yes you need the body for this but you must be strong mentally. You got to keep on going even if the body says it hurts. The next stage is dangerous and if you fall, it will cost lots of time. Anyone can fall.
Rachel: So how you mentally prepare for this? All the guys out there look like it's not fun at all.
Ricky: No fun, but it's a job. We treat it as a job - a race against time and ourselves. We must succeed because no one's going to finish the job for us.
Rachel: The guys are OK?
Ricky: Just tired and need to cool down. We push our bodies to the limit. It sounds like insanity but there's no other way.
Rachel: Your wife want so sent a message from home. The kids miss you and think you're misbehaving again.
Ricky: Well, I don't misbehave - it's not normal. I'm just a big kid really. My wife knows that.
Rachel: You need to get ready for next stage - it looks really tough
Ricky: Oh yes, but I'm not going to give up. There's too much to lose now. Quitters are losers.
Rachel: Do you want your kids to take up cycling?
Ricky: Well, I'm not going to force them. They can make their own minds up - I'd prefer they did but they want to play soccer that's fine by me too. I'd object to them joining the army though.

Baz-cz team picks their main cyclist
With 7 stages of the tour finished the Baz-cz team has finally sorted out the top dog status of their team. And despite the fact that Az-cz has two jersey wearers, it won't be an Az-czzer leading the pack.
Go-Gdjt is currently leading the sprinters and Ed-Hlry is currently second amongst climbers, but with the current climbing leader also leading the whole tour. However the main Az-cz cyclist isn't currently pulling his weight. Grg-Lmnd currently sits in 19th place overall, well behind Neil Johnson of Bazalonia.
"Neil's just riding better than I am." said Grg-Lmnd. "Hopefully I'll have the chance to be the main rider for the team in another tour, but in this tour it just makes sense to have Neil as 'the guy'."
With that the Baz-cz team will be looking to provide plenty of protection for Neil Johnson. All of their energy will be devoted to pushing Neil Johnson up the charts. Even Ed-Hlry and Go-Gdjt will sacrifice their jerseys if it wll help Neil Johnson move up the rankings.
sorry its a bit early but Rp for Stage 7 is dead now (have to work early in the AM). And Stage 8 results will be up right after this commercial break....

Ricky: You alright Vance?
Vance: That was hell ... ouch. I'm OK, well done Ricky - I'm glad these mountain stages are nearly over.
Ricky: Well, it's your turn next to shine. Flatter stages - go for green man!
Vance: I hope so too.
Rachel: Hi guys
Ricky: Hey babe. I think Vance needs a little encouragement here.
Rachel: He looks ill
Ricky: Well, mountain climbing is hell for sprinters. No fun out there today.
Rachel: You and Padroso did pretty well, 7th and 8th within a minute.
Ricky: Vance was lucky to finish. He's not as tough as us but he's a fast man that's his job.
Vance: Hi Rachel. Can you dump that bucket of ice on me?
Ricky: Hehe, we normally do that to the girls.
Rachel: Sure (dumps ice on Vance)
Vance: Thanks
Ricky: Well, let's leave him to cool down. He'll be back and fighting again.
Rachel: I hope so.
Ricky: Oh Padroso is hiding again. We gotta get him a girly!
Rachel: Between you and me, we can get job done. Dazza's out of the question - say what about one of the Dallas girls when they turn 18.
Ricky: Well, if they all look like Debbie and Dazza or you, he'll be happy.
Vance: Hey, I got a single sister.
Ricky: Well, that's another idea. What she look like?
Vance: Catherine Zeta Jones
Rachel: There you do, that works.
Ricky: I gotta meet her first.
Rachel: Oi, lunch Ricky?
Ricky: Sure thing, Rachel.

Rachel: Padroso Fina, well done today. 4TH - 25 seconds off the leader. That's got to feel good.
Padroso: You know, you''re right. Ricky had a bad day today and Vance did really well. Ricky can't always do it for the team so it's my turn to step up and contribute for once. I really disappointed in my first few stages but now I'm going for 150%.
Rachel: Well, Ricky finished well off the pace in 25th and Vance finished ahead in a handy 19th. You move upto 14th on the standings and Ricky holds down 3rd still. Vance is still near the bottom in 28th. You think you have a chance?
Padroso: Not really, 4 and half minutes to make up. Nope - I'm going to hope Ricky can strike as he's only 1 minute away. Vance should be real happy when these time trials are in - he's going blow them away I say.
Rachel: Now, time trials up next. Any plans?
Padroso: Not really, I know Ricky is the weakest in time trialing so Vance is going all out get all the bonuses. I'm going to try but I don't expect to do so well.
Rachel: I noticed Vance was just really happy.
Padroso: He hates the mountains. Now it's his turn to burn rubber - I think he might just win the Sprinters jersey.
Rachel: I'm looking forward to Vance going quick. He looks mean and really determined.
Padroso: Don't get in his way, he'll stop only when you stick a brick wall in front of him.
Rachel: Well done again and the Jeruselelem do well again. Not bad for a first tour really.
Padroso: No, we are surprised. We expected to be worse but I think we might get something out of this.
Rachel: That's it from Tour De Qazox. A credible effort by the team but Ricky had his worst day of non-sprinting. Padroso flew the flag with great 4th. Good night.
Gordon Fades But Keeps Lead
Tour de Qazox leader Karl Gordon suffered a major off day in the last day in the mountains finishing a distant 21st 1:30 behind the stage winner Mikel Perurena from Northern Caesarea. He also lost some ground in the King of the Mountain as the climbing machine Ed-Hlry had his fourth top three finish in the mountains some 19 seconds back. However Gordon's closest competitors Ricky Pointy Stick, John Linkin Wilkins Kollv'sbayer and Zak K Speed were also worn out by the mountains and only Kollv'sbayer managed to not lose any additional time to Gordon.
However his fellow members of Team Pep-co both had very strong runs. Jerry Conroy had his best finish yet with a third place showing only 22 seconds behind the leader as he and five others headed the chase group that dopped off one by one over the last 10k. This finish moves him up to 11th now in the overall classification and actually grabbed him a couple points in the King of the Mountains though this isn;t his goal for the Tour of course. Now only 3:42 back of Gordon, Conway has made up over two minutes in the mountains.
Even John McRoy had a good run with a 9th place finish only 49 seconds back. However McRoy is still only 23rd nearly 8 minutes back and probably glad to be out of the mountains.
Next up is the team time trial and some think Gordon was told to save some energy for this event. With the slowest rider setting the time for the whole team, Team Pep-co coaches hope by saving something today Gordon can improve on his back to back second to last place showings in the individual time trials and hold onto the maillot jaune which in Qazox is the maillot bleu . The team's strategy seems to be that McRoy, the team's strongest time trialist can finish in the top four and neutralize some of Gordon's expected losses with a time bonus.
With the mountains behind the Tour now, it is expected to be tough for a climber like Gordon to maintain the race lead with so much racing yet to go. The pre mountains leader Zak K Speed is still lurking in fourth and is expected to make up his deficit on the flat stages that he had used to build on his early Tour lead. So it may only be a matter of time before Gordon loses the maillot jaune though Conroy has slowly pulled himself into having a chance to rally even further. The next few race days should shake up the pack once more that's for sure and it begins with the team time trial tomorrow.
QSPN2 coverage of the TOUR de QAZOX
Hi folks I'm Rick Prendergast, 3-time winner of the TOUR de QAZOX and your host for the weekly update. Team Qazox is not doing great after the mountain stages, but with the flatter terrain and longer stages, the team's chances seem to be better. The next stage is the Team Time Trial, and personally i think Qazox has an advantage. most of the teams have one sprinter, one good overall person and a good climber, and in a Team Time Trial, only the sprinter counts as that person determines the time bonus. Alan O'Neill and Greg Johansen are not the best sprinters, but with Veronica Foster doing the sprinting, they could climb up the leaderboard. The teams that have 3 riders should do well, but team Baz-cz the co-op team from Az-cz and Bazalonia have 2 sprinters each, so they are my pick to win the trial. Teams that only have 2 riders will fall back, as they debate as to wether or not to send their best sprinter out and hope the other rider does well or to keep them together improving thier overall time, but losing out on any bonuses. Well taht all for now. Only 8 more stages until we're in Qazox City!!

Rachel: That was great team effort! 3rd and only beaten by the uber teams!
Vance: Yes, this is team game - we're happy.
Rachel: Padroso - do you realise you are now 9th?
Padroso: Really? OH ... wow, you mean I'm catching up? I didn't know that. Well, all I can say is what it good for team helps everyone.
Rachel: And Ricky, 2nd and 4 seconds off the leader.
Ricky: That close, I though I would be dismay but then I'm just underestimating myself. You know - I might just win this. With this team - we can do many things together.
Rachel: And Vance, once again Go-Gdjt beats you. He must be good.
Vance: Yes, Go-Gdjt is good but I'm not giving up. I might be 28th but he's only 26th. Between him and me and the rest, not much really. I do my best to help Ricky win this and maybe get Padroso into the top 3.
Rachel: Any plans next?
Ricky: Endurance stage is next - so me and Padroso will be quite happy. Vance won't. Simple plan really, just hang in with leaders and then try to strike late. Me or Padroso could just do it. Striking early is useless because you get all tired and then disappear into the pelaton. Best to conserve all the effort at the end and hope you don't fall over.
Rachel: Well, an excellent day for Jeruselem at the time trials. 3rd overall with Vance gettting a bonus as well all expected. I think we might have a chance here, because no one laughs at our cyclists now.
RP is cut now!!! Results soonish!!!

Ricky: You alright Rachel?
Rachel: Err, apart from getting soaking well from someone spraying stuff from bottles on me, yeah.
Ricky: She looks cute Padroso?
Padroso: She always looks cute ...
Rachel: Thanks guys, where's Vance?
Ricky: He came last and then kinda collapsed. He'll be OK, he just needs sleep.
Rachel: Right, great team effort again. 4th and 7th. We may not win many stages but we sure keep up the pace. You guys are really tough.
Ricky: Well, after years of training in a desert - only the tough survive!
Padroso: We maybe tough, but we aren't superman either.
Rachel: You just cycled nearly 300 KM. That's amazing, people like us would just wilt.
Ricky: It's the training - mental toughness. We cyclists need it or we give up and loose. A healthy body and a tolerance for pain - lots of pain. We are hurting right now.
Rachel: The good news is Ricky is now leading and Padroso is moved upto 8th. Vance is dead last in 30th.
Padroso: That's good news apart from Vance. I think this team is clicking now. Vance doing the sprinting helps us stay in the race while we climb our way to good positions. Simple but effective. People may laugh and say that's too simple but look it works for us.
Rachel: Yes, if it works don't break it. This is Rachel Kool the wet sponge reporting for JGN at the Tour de Qazox. Great day overall, as Ricky leads by 18 seconds overall and Padroso is making ground. 4th to Padroso and 7th to Ricky in the 11th stage - Vance was last. 31 seconds between 1st and 7th in the 11th stage - it was exciting but I'm just all wet.
Ricky: Well, I think this will be in the highlights DVD. Rachel winning the wet dress competition. We all need to have bath, including Rachel. Tomorrow is another day!
Rachel: Next time, I'm getting a raincoat when I'm standing too near the winner.

Baz-cz still alive
With only six stages left in the Tour De Qazox it looks as if there is still a chance for Baz-cz to come up with the championship for the entire tour.
Currently Baz-cz has two cyclists in the top 4, with Ed-Hlry sitting third and Neil Johnson of Bazalonia sitting fourth. Although Ed-Hlry is more than a minute ahead, Neil Johnson is the one considered to have the best chance. There isn't much climbing left which means that the regular cyclists now have their chance to shine.
But Ed-Hlry can use his rank to help Neil Johnson immensely he can provide rabbiting for the team. Although he doesn't have great speed if he makes a push the other riders can't just let him go.
As for the other three riders, Go-Gdjt is still holding on to the spot as the top sprinter. He is on tenuous ground so he'll need to push to hold that up for the rest of the tour. But him Grg-Lmnd and Ross Gulliver all can help Neil Johnson.
Ricky Pointy Stick definitely looks like the cyclist to beat so they'll do what they can to slow down him and his Jeruselem teammates. We'll see how things turn out.
Results will be posted....sometime after this post as Rp'ing is done for Stage 11. Just in case any was wondering (and none of you are) there is a formula i've been using to "scorinate" these.. but its not perfect. Any suggestions as to improve the formula will be greatly appreciated.
Current Formula:
For each stage there is a key factor: Endurance, Speed, Sprint or Climbing.
To calculate the winner on the order I've been using the following formula:
(for example Stage 11.. the very long one)
End/1 +Speed/2 + (Sprint+Climb)/3= X pts.
I then arrange the points (rounded to the nearest 1/100th) and then figure out the average time which usually is Stage length/27MPH. For the Climbing stages i used 18 MPH and for the Time Trials I use 36 MPH.
So overall it sorta looks like this:
X+y/2+(a+b)/3= N (determines order)
X miles/y MPH= T (determines time)
Time behind: [Nx(rider's number)/N1 (leaders number)]*T= time behind.
Please note that I didn't include how the Rp bonus is calculated so if you try to re-sim this.. it may not come out the same..gotta keep some secrets. ;) :D
If i think a time is too long or short for a certain stage (orginally for Stage 11 i got almost 7hrs) i'll take 20-25 minute off or add on 10-15 minutes.
There now you know how i scorinate this. Once again any suggestions for improvements will be greatly welcome.

Rachel: Don't worry, my reputation is fine. Now, what you doing during the World Cup 31?
Ricky: Me, resting I guess. A break from trying kill myself on the roads.
Rachel: Well, how about co-hosting THE FOOTBALL LIFE?
Ricky: Me? I'm a cyclist. Don't know much about football really. If I do, aren't I stealing your or Dazza's spot?
Rachel: Well, I'm still going be be there as a roving reporter. But we need a male to replace me, you're the man I think.
Ricky: Me? It could be a mistake.
Rachel: Ah, you get work with Dazza Dallas. Think about it.
Ricky: Oh, that teenage babe. She's worse than you, right?
Rachel: Oh yeah, and lots of fun. Come on, you'll get paid really well.
Ricky: A cyclist covering soccer, not sure if that's a good idea. These sports are so different.
Rachel: Hey look, here's some videos of THE FOOTBALL LIFE. Just watch and see if this is what you like.
Ricky: OK. I'll think about it.
Rachel: I'm asking you because I think you'll make a great counter-balance to Dazza Dallas.
Ricky: What's she like?
Rachel: Cute, smart, emotional, fun and opinionated. Come on, she's really good looking!
Ricky: How old is she?
Rachel: About 20.
Ricky: Really?
Rachel: Watch the videos and tell me what you want to do, OK?
Ricky: OK
<a few hours later>
Rachel: Well, I'm back. So interested?
Ricky: Where do I sign?
Rachel: Whoa, you're keen.
Ricky: Oh yeah, great way to pick up sponsors for my cycling team. And whoa, that Dazza is hot.
Rachel: I'll organise it for you? I've got contact at JGN.
Ricky: Yeah thanks. Should be fun this World Cup 31.
The Rp Cut is the deepest... so how deep was it? Results will coming up over Santa Monica Boulevard soon. (sry had to listen to WAAAAY TOO much Sheryl Crow at work today)

Ricky: Hello there, come in Rachel. You look like my wife everyday.
Rachel: Hey, just don't get me pregnant eh?
Ricky: I do have self-control most of the time. Well, what does JGN say?
Rachel: Well, they like you.
Ricky: Really?
Rachel: You are just cool on TV even after riding 300ks. Never seem to get stressed and always have an answer. Just what we need for the male presenter at the World Cup.
Ricky: So, any rivals?
Rachel: Doesn't seem to be any.
Ricky: If I win this Tour de Qazox, I might been even more popular.
Rachel: Sure will, but I think you have fans already.
Ricky: Great, so when will this be confirmed?
Rachel: Probably after the Tour.
Ricky: That's alright. I just try winning this tour first.
Rachel: What happened to Padroso? He was almost last today. God, even Vance did better.
Ricky: Just tired I guess. Had a bad day, but I'm doing OK. Tired still.
Rachel: Some sprinting is up next - you might lose some ground.
Ricky: My plan is Vance to take the stage and make my position better. Well, that's always been the plan for sprinting stages.
Rachel: Well, have to talk to more people. Well done, Ricky.
Ricky: You're always welcome here.
Rachel: I know. Staying too long could be risky! I'm not your wife, remember.
Ricky: Well, maybe it's the homesickness. 3 more stages to fight on.
Rachel: You can do it.
ooc: had to work late 2nite so no results, will have them tommorrow, so a free RP day (the travel day will still take place, but now that day and Stage 16 will be posted the same day).
Rp done??? if not its too late baby now its too late.
Results soonish.

Rachel: Vance, it's alright.
Vance: But I could have done better.
Rachel: Look, you came 3rd as a sprinter. That's good - look at the other below you. Ron Quik had to earn it, you make him work for it.
Vance: I suppose your right, next time I'll do better.
Rachel: Look, people are saying you did well. First tour and you gave the best a run for their money. Next time, you might win. All you can do now is help Padroso and Ricky. Remember, you are here as team.
Vance: I know, and I did help Ricky - but I could have done better still.
Rachel: Your family would be proud of your efforts still. You did all you can - and that's all you can do.
Vance: Thanks, Harry must be lucky to have wife like you.
Rachel: Just say, I've been there and done that. World Cup 29 - we failed to get the 2nd round for the 4th time - things looked bad. World Cup 30 - we made quarter-final. Harry didn't give up.
Vance: You have a point there.
Rachel: Now, all you can do is get Ricky the yellow jersey.
Vance: Yes, that's what I'm going to do. The team will succeed.
Rachel: Out there, Jeruselem fans are here for you. You might not see them but but they are out there for you.
Vance: Really, we have that much support?
Rachel: Well, the miracle of TV coverage.
Vance: Oh, didn't think many people watch this Tour?
Rachel: You have to when you slot it in after the soccer and before dinner.
Vance: Clever.
RP os cut off for today.. and Tynelia asked me to post their post so here it is:
Gordon Still In Second, Last Chance Today.
Team pep-co's Karl Gordon continues to hold onto second place despite yet another second to last place finish in the time trials. Tynelian cyclists are left scratching their heads wondering how Gordon would be doing if he could only work on his time trial times. The only good news is that the Tour leader Ricky Pointy Stick didn;t have a good trial either but still gained another 31 seconds to his lead. Gordon now trails by 1:14 one of only three cyclists within two minutes of the leader.
The final mountain stage is today and is Gordon's best chance to either take the tour lead or manage to overcome Ed-Hlry's 6 point lead in the king of the mountains. Its expected Gordon's shadow, John Linkin Wilkins Kollv'sbayer will also be amoung the trio fighting for the Climber's jersey. Naturally however, Gordon is looking for the tour lead with one stage remaining.
As for the rest of team pep-co, expected challenger Jerry Conroy has dropped to 16th the past few days almost six minutes back. John McRoy, while gaining another top ten finish in a time trial is even further back in 24th over 11 minutes behind.

Rachel: Still leading Ricky!
Ricky: Not by much but two more stages girly. Two more days to hero time or disappointment.
Rachel: Now, many say you are taking drugs or steroids or some performance enhancing stuff.
Ricky: Not me, my endurances comes from training. I don't need drugs - I get my endurance via another means too.
Rachel: Really, it is legal?
Ricky: It's legal and fun too. Everyone does some time or another. OK, you might create something by accident if you don't take precautions.
Rachel: Oh that, I know what you mean.
Ricky: That's it, that's why I'm Ricky Pointy Stick.
Rachel: Well, viewer I hope you all know what we are talking about.
Ricky: For those clueless people, the bible says "Go forth and Multiply" about it.
Rachel: So does Dazza and I'm glad you are married. I might get unwanted attention you know.
Ricky: You and Dazza are the most beautiful girls in Jeruselem, only 2nd to my wife of course.
Rachel: 11th for you and Vance did well in 18. Padroso had a bad day - 26th. Not the best stage for the team.
Ricky: Not really, but they are doing it so I can cross that line with a yellow jersey. I just think Padroso needs more leg speed at the end sometimes.
Rachel: There you go, the secret of Ricky's endurance. That's why he's Mr Pointy Stick and there's little Pointy Sticks around too.
Ricky: I got no idea why that's my family name really, but Dad liked to have fun too.
Rachel: That's it - two stages left. Ricky still leads by over 1 minute. Actually 1 minute and 14 seconds. Padroso has fallen back 16th and Vance moved back up to 27th.
Ricky: I sure want this be over so I can see my family again.
Rachel: And make it bigger?
Ricky: Something like that.

Ed-Hlry is a champion, still time for Neil Johnson
With Go-Gdjt coming up disappointingly short of winning the sprint championship Ed-Hlry snuck his way into some amount of success by lucking into the climbing title.
He had a sizeable lead going into the day but just had dead legs all race. He was unable to ever really get in gear and stumbled all the way down to 26th on the day.
His poor performance left the door wide open. Both Karl Gordon of Tynelia and John Linkin Wilkins Kollv'sbayer of Martenopolis could have taken the title with a good run but they were only able to finsih 8th and 9th respectively. That meant that despite a poor leg on his own Ed-Hlry finished quite nicely. The Az-cz have of the Baz-cz team had a nice run as specialists, but conversely it's the Baz side that's had the run overall.
Grg-Lmnd has struggled all tour but Neil Johnson of Bazalonia has looked good. With only two stages to go he sits in third place, one of three cyclists who has a realistic chance of catching Ricky Pointy Stick. The entire Baz-cz team will now spend their full energy to getting Neil a title. It will be tough, but he could still make the move and claim the crown.

Gordon Hanging Around
It was a mixed bag for Team Pep-co's Karl Gordon. In a day where all the top four contenders finished with nearly the same time, Gordon found himself unable to make a move and try to capture the King of the Mountains title which went to Ed-Hlry. The only move was from Bazalonian Neil Johnson who broke away from the pack near the end and picked up 7 seconds for his efforts.
Now with a rest day and only two stages left, Gordon can shift all his focus to trying to make up the 1:14 he trails Ricky Pointy Stick by. It will be tough with no more mountain stages for the climbing specialist to make any big gains in but now at least he can focus on only one thing in the race. He must surely be cursing his poor time trials which, if he loses by a close margin will certainly be pointed out as being the reason why he lost. Of course few expected him to be sitting in second with only two stages to go either.
The rest of the team continues its disappointing efforts. Both John McRoy and Jerry Conroy finished in the back of the pack and dropped further down the standings. Conroy dropped to 17th after seeming to have found his legs in the middle stages and McRoy is an even more distant 25th. Team Pep-Co's hopes are clearing resting on Gordon's shoulders and the team is hoping that he can keep his spot on the podium if he can't pull off the comeback over the next two stages.
(ooc: like 1 said earlier this week I'm combinng the travel day and Stage 16. so Rp cut-off for Stage 15 is now.. well after this post... Results of Stage 16 later. )
QSPN2 coverage of the TOUR de QAZOX
Hi folks I'm Rick Prendergast, 3-time winner of the TOUR de QAZOX and your host for the weekly update. There's only 2 stages left and a non-Qazoxian Rider will win the TOUR for the 1st time, as defending champion, Greg Johansen sits over 6 minute behind the leader, Ricky Pointy Stick of Jeruselem. But Ricky isn't out of the woods yet as there are 6 other riders within 4 minutes of his lead, and as we found out last year when Alan O'Neill crashed on the next to last stage having a 4 minute lead over Greg Johansen, anything can happen.
Hopefully it won't have to come down to a final day sprint to the finish, as custom dictates, the leader of the TOUR entering Qazox City usually is the winner, despite there being 10 miles until the finish line. But with the foreign riders, who may not know of the custom, a wild scramble the last few miles could knock the leaders out and someone could snag victory from the jaws of defeat.
Overall this TOUR has had some great moments, like Michel Canard's (from New Montreal States, mad dash through the streets of Anti de Ox to win stage 2, despite being down by over 3 minutes at one point. Or Marino Induráin's (From Northern Caesarea) recovery from a mile 5 crash that had to be stitched with 17 stitches to finish 2nd in Stage 4. Or Ed-Hrly's (of Az-cz) back-to-back Mountain stage wins in Stages 7 and 8? The is only one more moment the world is waiting for and it is in Qazian Memorial Stadium in Qazox City, when the leader of the TOUR, whomever it may be, takes his final lap around the stadium, earning him the title of Champion.
Up next: Las Vitas to Carlovia Distance: 87.5 miles (140 km). Last chance for most riders as this stage is mostly down hill, but a small climb around halfway through will slow down some.

Vance: Hey Rachel.
Rachel: Well done, you're helping Ricky indeed. Taking 3rd in a stage so late.
Vance: Well, I figure he wasn't going to be able to sprint it out at the end so I figured if I took the initative to try to win his rivals will give up trying win this stage.
Rachel: The sprinters followed you and it worked.
Vance: Yes, I allowed Ricky to stay safely with the others so he does not have risk himself this stage. I know Ricky's main rivals don't sprint so well except maybe Zak K Speed.
Rachel: Padroso seems to have given up?
Vance: It seems so but he's young. Ricky knows all the tricks so don't worry.
Rachel: You like podium finishes
Vance: Yes, but I want to be the best sprinter too. Maybe next time. Today, it's all about helping Ricky.
Rachel: Overall, how to think this team works?
Vance: I think we need Padroso to maybe do more leading and sprinting work. He's young and needs some direction. I'm the speed man but he might need a bigger role. Ricky is yellow jersey man because he's the man for the job. We learnt something this tour and next one, we're going to be better.
Rachel: Well, one more stage and good luck team. Let's get Ricky over the time and make him a Champ. He's already a champ in the bedroom but he needs another trophy.
Vance: Yeah, Ricky likes making kids.
Rachel: Lucky wife then!
Vance: She seems happy.
Rachel: Well, good night from the Tour de Qazox - last stage. Don't miss it LIVE on JGN. Cheer on our Pointy Stick man.
<later>
Rachel: Sign this Ricky!
Ricky: My new job!
<signs document>
Rachel: There you go, you are new TV star. Just keep an eye on Dazza's antics.
Ricky: The former cheerleader. I'll watch her because you can't keep you eyes off her.
Rachel: Now, after this you have to watch some soccer games in between family life.
Ricky: I will. Can I ring you if I need some help - you know - your hubby was the Jeruselem world cup coach.
Rachel: Yeah, go ahead. I like to talk - Harry complains I talk too much.
Ricky: My wife complains the same about me.
Rachel: Dazza's worse than me, you know. And she does more than just talk.
Ricky: Well, I promise to behave during the soccer.
Rachel: You're supposed to misbehave, you know.
Ricky: Well, my kids say I haven't grown up but that's why I so good with kids I guess.
Sorry folk, but this is the last call for RP's... yay don't have to post it here but if you do it will count until the FIANL STAGE and RESULTS are posted.
I think this went well, until the WC started. I'm going to do this again, but not until probably near the end of qualifing.
If you come back, you will get to add one point to any catergory for returning riders, but the 10-pt limit will remain. so no sprinters with an 11 sprint level.
Oh yeah.. the RP bonus thingy was for every time you mentioned you rider(s), by their full name, not just first or last names, i took off 2-5 seconds from that persons time, depending on the length of the stage and the number of times mentioned. (i know not exactly the best Rp bonus.. but i couldn't figure out a way to incorporate it into my formula w/o really skewing the results.) For the Team time Trial, the "team" that had the most RP points had 1:00 deducted from their time, 2nd had 45 seconds and 3rd had 30 seconds taken off.
Hope you all had fun and hopefully next time i won't be kicked off for a week. (that probably killed some of the interest.) Once again ty all for participating and glad you signed-up.
(ooc: The only difference between 1st and 2nd palce was the RP points just to let you know. The 1st palce rider, without any RP points would have finished 2nd palce by over a minute)

ooc: just some weird things about this TOUR in case you'd like to know:
Most days wearing Blue Jersey- (8) Ricky Pointy Stick
Most stage wins- (3)- Mikel Lejarreta and Zak K. Speed
Most days spent in Top 5- (15)- Zak K. Speed
Ricky Pointy Stick won the TOUR, but didn't win a single stage.
9 different riders won a stage, with 2 riders (Ed-Hrly and Mikel Lejarretta) each winning back-to-back stages.
Each Team at one point or another had a rider in the Top 5. (somehow Qazox had the fewest total days in the Top 5 for a team with 1)
That's all the weird stuff i could find.

At the Tour de Qazox
Ricky Pointy Stick was standing on the podium as overall winner with a huge crowd cheering on. Zak K Speed of The Mushroom Kingship was 2nd and Karl Gordon of Tynelia was third. He had one by just 43 seconds from a fast finishing Zak K Speed but his teammate Vance Lumberjack had won the last stage dragging all the best sprinters with him and that allowed Ricky to relax and win the tour as most of the his main competition could not match the pace of Vance and other sprinters in the tour. The Jeruselem plan had worked - Vance forced the pace so Ricky's main opponents could not win"
Ricky dragged Rachel Kool, the soccer and now cycling reporter for JGN in the stage with him and gave her a big kiss on the podium. He made a big speech "Well, everyone. This is big! I wish to thank everyone. The tour organisers, the Qazoz government, the media people especially JGN, the fans, the crowds, my fellow riders and opposition as well. My team did a great job. While vance failed to win sprinters jersey - he did the job for the last two stages. This is a fantastic experience, I've never been on a Tour like this before and winning it on the first attempt is just a dream. The biggest thanks is for my family - they had to watch from home and I miss them. This is for them because I'm always away from home and they don't see me much. This is what I train for! I never expected to win really, but when I saw this chance I had the plan and the team to do it. I hope everyone here has a big party as well as those in their homes or getting drunk in the pubs. Thank you for having me here because I want to be back. I know Zak and Gordon and the other riders worked hard like I did - and well I got the spoils but we all worked hard for something. Thank you!"
