When I said it was closed, I kinda lied. If you want to be in, and can explain to me in approx. 200 words through PM why, then you can be in.

Otherwise, this is mainly for CotG folks, so post chars the chars you want to use.

Basic Idea is:

The Jiltakin Thieves Guild has based its teachings off a sacred text known as the Jiltakin Scrolls. The Original Scrolls were dispatched across the Great Sea many millenia ago, and the Jiltakin have been working from multiple translations and rewrites since. Problem is, their special skills, the Shadowfold being the most important, have stopped working based on the methods in the translated scrolls.

The Story will be about the Journey Across the sea, and the quest to reclaim the True Word of Arcturus Jiltak, the first Jiltakin.

Openings for new Chars on the side of Evil:
I need essentially an entire cadre of baddies. The Chief Villian is Daedelus the Inventor, the leader of the Tecnotians. He needs two-three lieutenants, plus a right hand man... or woman.

Race: Human
Description: Harlin is a man who chose to live outside the law at a young age. As a boy he joined the legendary Jiltakin Thieves Guild and quickly rose in skill and proficiency. A master of slight of hand and thievery in general, authorities have reported him having the ability to disappear. He is 5' 10" tall and slim with a muscled physique. He has jet black hair that he keeps just short enough to stay out of his eyes, but not short enough to make himself memorable.
Abilities: A master of the shadow arts, Harlin has the ability to virtually disappear. He also wields two Fandarian Scimitars with deadly effect at close range, and at long range is an excellent shot with a crossbow. Also, "The Shadowfold" (see CotG)
Occupation: A professional thief, Harlin steals many things ranging from works of art to rare artifacts. The Jiltakin also offer the service of assassination to anyone willing to pay the price.
Age: 33
Origin: Born to two poor fruit sellers in the desert city Karahd. He was orphaned as a boy, the Jiltakin took him in when he was caught stealing bread by Centurus Froms, the master of the Jiltakin Order.
Alignment: Neutral, he would rather not get involved in the conflict, yet he feels that he will inexorably be drawn to one side or the other.
Weakness: An often misdirected sense of honor. An undying desire to return equality to the world. Mortality.

Bio: Since the end of the Conflict with Valtrox, Harlin has quested with other members of his guild for the lost Scrolls of Arcturus, the keys to preserving his decaying order. After locating and retrieving the texts in the far off land across the sea, he returned to become the High Master of Training for the Guild, only one step below Minos Praetal, the High Master of the Guild.

Race: Human Elf Hybrid
Description: 5' 7", slender, but fit. Well proportioned, possessing both a keen wit, and incredible physical beauty. Typically wears normal clothing, but also has a suit of plate armor she inherited from her mother (the elf in her heritage).
Abilities: Although she does not possess the magical talent inborn with elves, she can perform some healing magic. Skilled with a short sword and shield, she is quite deadly in battle. Also can use her beauty to seduce men into doing what she wants.
Occupation: Healer in the Jiltaken Fortress
Age: mid 130's
Origin: Her mother and father died when she was very young, victims of a dark plague that swept through Fandar. Afterwards, she was raised by the Sisters of the White Rose in Karahd. The Sisteres are highly skilled in white magic and healing, relying mostly on the powers granted to them through prayers to the goddess Wistera (goddess of health and healing). Powerful practitioners of this art can even call Wistera's will to smite opponents in battle, making them powerful allies in the field.
Alignment: Good
Weakness: Humanity, because she is a hybrid, she lacks the incredible magical talent of elves, but gains their longevity.

Bio: Following the ultimate banishing of Valtrox, she and Harlin were wed. Now, they live together in the Jiltakin Fortress, where she acts as the head healer.

Description: 4' 9", Orange Hair, blue eyes, Dressed in ratty clothes, usually wears a hat. Almost constantly smoking.
Abilities: Sneaky Sneaky Sneaky, and knows the Tecnon (Tecnotian Capital) Undergrounds like the back of his hand.
Occupation: Newspaper boy/ petty thief/ informant to whoever will pay
Age: 9 years
Origin: Born to poor parents, and abandonned at the age of 6, raised by street children.
Alignment: Self, but he'll be helping the good guys
Weakness: Small, and Human

Bad Guys

Race: Human
Description: 6' 2", Grey Hair, Dark Brown Eyes, Handsome, but aged face. Has a clockwork hand. Usually wears gentleman's attire, but dons steam powered plate armor in battle.
Abilities: No Tecnotians have magic, but they have made up for this by great advances in the sciences. Daedelus is an alchemist, and can transmute base metals to precious materials. Using this skill, as well as mysterious powers of persuasion, he gained the position of the Tecnocrat, the leader of the Tecnotian people. He rules them with an iron fist, and has amassed a huge army.
Occupation: Tecnocrat, Tecnotian King
Age: 62
Origin: Arrived out of the East, and quickly rose to power in the Technotian Kingdom. His past before his arrival in the empire is unknown.
Alignment: Himself, and thus evil for this story.
Weakness: Mortality

Description: Steam Knight (see the picture, what more can be said...)
Abilities: As powerful as a locomotive, and as fast, Stamina only limited by his supply of coal.
Occupation: Daedelus' Military Advisor
Age: 94
Origin: Was a soldier in the Tecnotian Army who suffered wounds so grievous that part of his body had to be replaced with clockwork, including his heart. All the remains human is his head which is nestled inside the iron behemoth.
Alignment: Daedelus
Weakness: Extended exposure to water, not having coal, direct shot to his brain.

You have any specific attributes or something you really want to see in your RP, Regenius?

Ever played Guildwars? If you have, then you know what balanced means in terms of a group. If not, then you might get the idea, but it means every major skill set is represented with maybe a couple overlaps for healers and warriors... That's fo the good guys anyway. The bad guys are all non magic users... with the exception of Daedelus... dun dahn duuuun. So, any kinda tinkerer or gadgeteer would be great, like a whole nation of Marlene's and Mebbiwik's. Also, Bad guys are all human-esque.

BTW, I'm out. I hope that when I get on after school tomorrow that there will be some characters up here.

Origin: Iskan, in Lustria, however, moved to Technotian Kingdom

Bio: Born to rich nobles in the land of Lustria, Sir Franklin Antarnes was given a very 'proper' education, recieving education from some of the best at the Technological Universitys of Iskan, before he too became a professor.

His views on magic, however, were views of distrust and disgust. He believed that for every magical ability, a technological one can be created, with the same, if not a better effect than that of it's counterpart.

His outspoken views frightened many of the students at the Magic Universitys and he was soon on the streets, never to come again. In frustration and anger, he left to a place he believed his talents would be much more appreciated.

To the Technotian Kingdom he went, a land of machines and mechanisms. A perfect world for one such as he...not an ounce of magic.

Setting up shop and using a modest sum of wealth under his family name, he opened up a few laboratories and researched and created what he could. He was able to create several very simple clockwork mechanisms, however his speciality lie in the weapons he can create.

His favored weapon, the Scoped Pistol, was a deadly weapon in that it was incredibly accurate.

His rapier is also a wondrous creation. It's hilt is wrapped in rubber, as it unleashes electrical discharges against anyone who he may be sparring against, severely damaging his opponent's processes in a humiliating and deadly fate.

His current creation has been kept under wraps, but the man has been quite busy on it, rarely leaving his house.


Name:Kalzog Eyegouger, The Flayer
Race: Ogre
Physical Discription/Appeance: Massive, 12 feet tall, and about half as wide. He is a massive muscle bound hulk. But he also has a large belly, so he may look somewhat fat in the stomach, but it only hides his chest muscles. His eyes have a redish glow to them that gets brighter as he gets closer to a battle or something chaotic. He is covered in stringlike black tattoos that curve all around his body like smoke. What isnt covered in tattoos reveals his dark peach colored skin. He has teeth like small daggers and extremely bad breath. He wears greyish platemail armor on his shoulders, and a loincloth over leather pants below his waist.
Powers/Speciality:The tattoos all over his body are not there just for show, they protect him from many many spells, including some extremely powerful ones. His skin is extremely protective from most weapons. He is also an acolyte of his god of Chaos and War, and has been known to summon lesser creatures of his master, and has quite an expansive spell book in his head, most resulting in something gruesome. Being an ogre, many creatures get the impression he is big, dumb, and slow...Well, he is big, but he is also quite smart and he is surprisingly fast.
Occupation: Fighting magicians, dragons, and whatever else gets in his way!
Age: Upper middle age, but has been alive for a looong time!
Gender: Male
Where From: Unknown, known to wander
Alignment:Through a surprising turn of events, he is actually somewhat good, in his own rough little manner.
Weakness: What can stop this seemingly unstoppable force? Nothing has yet, but he is only one man...If swarmed, he will surely pound everything to a bloody pulp in time, but if the enemies work together and tie up his arms and legs so he cant use them....thats just real hard to do when u got a massive ogre in a frenzy... He is also a bad long-distance runner. There are some other ways to kill him, that being the one of the hardest, but they'll be revealed later on...

BIO: He had quite a past. This ogre has been on all sides of the moral spectrum. He enjoys eating little children, ransacking villages for the fun of it, and long walks along the beach.

However, over recent years, his mood has mellowed out greatly. At times he would just remain still for hours upon hours...he knows something is up...and his end may be near...

His past is shrouded in mystery, however, Kalzog is not afraid to reveal some of it to those he would consider non-edible, non-enemies. Or friends as one would say, despite his refusal to call anyone by that name.

After the gate wars, Kalzog went into a frenzy, searching for the valuable little orb that contained a certain arch-rival demi-god. But his search was fruitless. It was no where to be found.

So the ogre began to believe it must have been Harlin or some jiltaken soldier. They were quite sneaky and easily could have stolen the orb when Kalzog was not looking. Whatever the case, he's going to get the bottom of this...and he doesn't even know what's in store for him.

I also have to mention, I like how Daedilus looks lol.:p

Description: The picture is more of less what i had in mind. They are similar heights to gomes/halflings, maybe 3-4 feet
Abilities: Some control of fire and manipulation of darkness, limited flight, the wings aren’t just for show but it does take effort to remain airborne.
Occupation: Ex wizards 'pet', Ex Thief/smuggler, Ex 'Innkeeper'. Currently on the run from several authorities.
Age: Unknown.
Origin: Summoned from another plane by a wizard to serve as its menial labourer.
Alignment: Chaotic.
Bio: (Just a quick one at the moment)

He had lived many years in his own plane, a lowly peon in the grand scale of things, but life was good, he had scraped together a small hoard of collections and survived better than most. He was intelligent and skilled, frequently outwitting many of the larger and stupider denizens of his plane.

It was much to his distress that he was wrenched one day from his normal life to the tower of a clearly inept and possibly crazy wizard. He was compelled by magic to do this foolish wizards bidding, but within weeks found ways around the enchantment, but was still bound to the wizard magically. He bided his time for two reasons, the first was to learn a way to free himself from the bothersome being and the second was to learn about the realm he was in. Over the coming months he scoured the wizards tower and used his own magical abilities to learn the words necessary to read the language and magic spells in the hope of finding a way to break the spell he was under. Eventually he succeeded and on his way out of the tower, took many of the mage's shiny and obviously magical goods. Using the knowledge he amassed and a vague idea of where the nearest town was he made his way towards it.

He pawned many of these off to travellers and vendors in town, unsure of there real value, but he bargained hard. People were often unnerved by his appearance, but their had occasionally been... confusions, where he had been attacked by scared individuals, but reason and occasionally force had allowed him to make his original sales and after that he let gold speak for him. Eventually he found his way to a town and stayed briefly at an inn before being chased away for the mischief he had caused.

He learnt to pack light, on many occasions he was chased from towns. He was merely lessening the weight weary travellers carried by removing them of the burden of their coins or the occasional possession; he couldn't understand why they were so angry. Though sometimes, albeit rarely, it wasn't his fault. Eventually he moved to the big cities where it was easier to hide in these events.

He soon tired of that life though, not entirely of his choice, he was hunted in many areas as a thief, scoundrel or smuggler. Eventually he travelled across the seas and settled down in a new area, building an Inn and legally robbing money from his patrons by charging extortionate prices. Although he was reputed as having on of the best inns in the city. That these reports came from people on his payroll was a minor detail.

This legal life was not for him and he soon began to play his part in many local smuggling operations and frequently had slaves working for him in the inn. Unfortunately, one escaped and things went downhill from there, when news got out there was a riot since it was also discovered that many of the higher ranking people in the town knew but were involved.

Leaving the patrons to themselves he had fled and was now trying to stay out of the public eye.

ooc: * When engaged in perverted activities(Anime style pervertedness) is close to invisible, can take incredible damage with only minor injuries and a number of other minor things like being able to find a woman close to anywhere. When in pervert mode is weaker against men, but still very tough.

Lup has made this kind of pointless... It was supposed to be an exercise in Magic v. Tech, and now Marlene's got essentially everything I was going to use, except back in Lustria.

I am thoroughly disheartened.

Well, it can all go many ways.

I had several things I was going to use for Rimoru that I never spoke about.

Some of them I saw similarities here.

Others were being done by Lup.

So I made other things to compensate. I can't wait to show them off once RotS gets off. One of the many machines was supposed to make it's appearance in Clash (see if you can find out what it was), but I just flew by without them being used.

Tech is hard to think up for the past. Mechanical men, spiders, steam.
I personally think it's all good, considering how hard it is. Maybe make a few minor adjustments on machines. Or major ones if you can think them up.

The Tecnotian Palace is suspended from an Airship. They also have fixed wing gliders with rudimentary engines though...

Steam Punk was gonna be the theme for Tecnotia, it'll have to be past that now. Air technology is going to be big for them.

Still, it feels like it's not going to be original or fun, and a waste of time now that the same kind of acton is happening in RotS.

Well, here's what I believe is the steampunk for RotS.

Habdebza/Rimoru is going to have Magic/tech. A splicing of the two I suppose.

Marlene/Hel is going to have necro/poison/tech, and there will be zepplins from what I've heard.

Technotian can very well be an air superiority. You'll find that Habdebza/Rimoru will have little air forces (actually, take that literally. If things go as I planned, he'll have a devastating force of tiny flyers lol. He'll also have missle kind of things in that they explode lol, but I won't reveal everything).

Tecnotia can always have ornithopters, gyrocopters/Da Vinci copters, suspended platforms, floating drone kind of things, etc etc.

Actually, now that I think of it, massive floating platforms is an amazing idea lol. Giant slowmoving sheets of metal that lay waste to anything underneath. I won't use it if you do, but I'm just throwing ideas out there lol.

The novelty has died for me though... I like the characters... maybe I'll bring them into RotS...

Considering it seems to be burning a monumental amount of coal, it would need an efficiant way to get it from the ground to the palace(and the easiest/most practical method would likely be some form of cable, at least that's how I figured it)

It gets its coal by way of smaller dirigibles. It only needs to burn a lot of coal if it wants to move. If it wants to sit, it only needs a small amount.

Of course there are hot chicks, would a palace be a palace with out them?

So, homemade glider/ultralight would be an awesome way to end up on Dae's verranda.

Fandar is Harlin's home country. It is mainly desert, but has a sea coast, and a breadbasket fed by glacial water to the north. Three biggest cities are Karahd, Holicon, and Jobesum (the port from which we will depart, and where Harlin will meet the rest of your chars).
