Predictions! (Reviews!) Previews!

Guess what? It's time for our favorite bunch of underachievers (The baseball team) to show their stuff again the 3rd NS Baseball World Cup. The players have still yet to win an outround but the second generation is coming around this time (And we all know that the second generation does better) with new players on both sides of the ball the Warriors look dangerous. Manager Jack Yosefon said, "We have a chance to do great things this cup. Of course we had a chance for great things the last two cups and failed so that might not be saying much. But screw that we're playing the White Sox this time. We're going to crush them like bugs. CRUSH THEM!"

Now for our group predictions:

Group C
Milchama- Hey look we're top seed! How the hell did that happen? Anyway that means we're favorites and expected to progress. That should happen easily.
Iesus Christi- Also known as Jesus Christ in another language, probably latin. Anyway these guys while debuting last time don't seem to be to into the cup this time so we can expect a good win or two against them.
Rorysville- Newcomers. They might do alright and will most definitely finish second in the group. They are slowly making the rounds of NS sports and this will just further that. We'll probably beat them one of two if not both games.
IDF- WHITE SOX! Bastards. Bastards. Bastards. They will lose all their games guaranteed after Beurhle blows out his shoulder, Contreras get captured by the Cuban government and Piezynski gets mauled by a rogue Cubs fan. It will be to easy victories for the Warriors with the only question being, can we win by more than 10 runs.

As for the predictions in the other groups (Isn't just a great tradition) Here they are:

Group A: NMS rolls while Az skirts past the other two as we don't know any of their players or how they did.

Group B: LE also easily advances while West Pacific barely beats out Quakmybush for second spot.

Group C: Look up you idiot.

Group D: The closest thing to the Group of Death but actually the group of easy predictability: Casari and ASMV advance, easily. Waaaaaaaaaaay to easily.

It's not your fault. The algrithm that outputs strike outs is very ad hoc and overly simplified. I knew that when I created it, but I coultn't have pitching stats without strike outs.

Twins 2 run 9th not enough, lose 9-5

Larry O'brien, AP - The West Pacific Twins lost in their first game in international play last night, losing to United Transylvania in group play. Johan Santana apparently couldn't handle the pressure as he gave up seven earned runs on five hits and three walks in only five innings pitched. Capping the night for Santana was the fact that he had zero strike outs, we have gone thru several different databases and according to our information in is the first time in Santana's carreer, going all the way back to high school, that he has not thrown at least one strike out in a game, very unusual.

The night wasn't all bad for the Twins though, the top of the line-up (Castillo, Punto, Mauer) went a combined 5 for 12 racking up three of the teams five runs and Hunter added a solely home run in the ninth it but alas it was not enough. Liriano will be on the mound when the Twins next take the field.

D&S Ready to Goooooooooo...


The Sylvanaes Kingdom was finally to begin play in the World Cup of Baseball III and the Queen had already secured her seats for every game of the group stage. Right behind 1st Base. No better seat in the house.

The Pegasi were new to international baseball and a recent report out of Milchama give the team absolutely no chance of moving on past ASMV or Casari. We have just one word for them. Pffftttt. Just Watch US! Miracles can and will happen.

Let’s take a look at the group we have been given.

Group D:

ASMV. The Vegans have performed well in many international competitions. But for every success there is a failure for them. They play well in WC qualification before bombing out in the WC proper. They play well in the AORBC( Basketball for non-AOers) They suck at grid ball and hockey but only slightly underachieve in the AOCAF. Hopefully they will be on a downside here.

Casari. Much like ASMV. Up and Down. But they did win a WC and a DI. That’s enough for them. They can settle for that and be happy.

D&S. The Queen knows her sports and has put together a solid team. Considering our WC struggles we should manage to do better here.

Lexington SC. King of the mod bombs. But mouthy. They could push us for the second spot behind whoever does better between ASMV and Casari - The other will suck completely.

Now for the other groups:
Group A - NMS could go undefeated. Az-Cz will be as close as it gets to actual competition for them but will only get second. Virginia Nova should finish ahead of Marion Oaks 2.

Group B - Liverpool England is the best team in the group. West Pacific will barely beat out Quakmybush for the other spot. United Transylvania is just plain screwed.

Group C - Milchama and Iesus Christi will battle for the top spot while Rorysville comes up just short. IDF finds no love and few wins here.

The schedule is unclear as to who we will face first, but expect the Pegasi to make some real noise and prove they will be tough to beat in this tourney.

Warlocks ready to Rumble

It’s baseball time again! Last time ASMV made some real noise for a newcomer and was only derailed by Iesus Christi in the playoffs. As one of just two very active media entities from that cup, ASMV returns to see just how far we can go this time around. With our eye on a Championship, this is the road we must take -

Group D.

ASMV. That’s us. We’re back with a new team, a new name, and new kits from Sabre Incorporated. The Warlocks are the team that will top this group and make an appearance in the quarters against Milchama.

Casari. Sense says they should move on from the group stage. Both others are new and Casari does have experience. But D&S will give them all they can handle - and maybe a bit more.

D&S - How can a team that wears pink expect to compete? How can a team full of girls expect to move on? These are two questions not to ask D&S. They will get pissy. You can count on them to be vocal and that might be enough to move past Casari.

Lexington SC. Full of spirit. But they have no attention span. That will kill them in this competition.

Predictions
1 Milchama - we really felt we could meet these guys in the final. But the schedule says otherwise

4. IDF - Hmmmmmmm………..Good luck and all.

That means ASMV will face Rorysville and Milchama will face Dorian and Sonya if our predictions hold true. The two #1s should move on after very tough series that will push both to the limits.

ASMV will beat Milchama in the semis. You heard it here first.

Now for the other side of things.

Group A
1 NMS - by a long shot. No one will come even close.
2 Az-Cz. - The best of the rest will move on fairly esily
3 Marion Oaks 2 - we don’t know why, but they will knock off Va Nova
4 Virginia Nova - The Bad News Bears wont win this one

Group B
1 West Pacific - The newcomers have some life and that is always a good thing
2 Quakmybush - Active. That will be enough to move past a normally silent LE
3 Liverpool England - The best team in the group bombs out miserably.
4 United Transylvania - ????????says it all

That means NMS will face Quakmybush while West Pacific faces Az-Cz. NMS is easily through and West Pacific will edge out the gnomes

NMS will blast WP in the semis


That sets up an ASMV vs. NMS finals. Not the one we hoped for, but close enough. We will be lucky if we win this one.

Sharks Lay Spanking on Liverpool England


The Quakmybush National Baseball team got off to an amazing start today with a 16-2 spanking of Liverpool England. The team was just dominant compared to their competitors. Julio Frazier had an impressive 6 RBIs and Mark Goodman chipped in 4 RBIs. It is unkown who the team will face next. But theh certainly hope to continue this run.

Gnomes small ball early, hold on late

The Gnomes offense did exactly what they wanted it to do in their opening game against group favorites, New Montreal States. They put runs on the board in innings 2 through 5 and exploded for 6 runs in the seventh for their 14 runs and survived a late charge from New Montreal States, who turned the 14-4 score in to a 14-10 final before being subdued by Rd-Bk.
Wl-My was an absolute Giant out there today, coming up only a triple short of the cycle, while hitting a grand slam in the 7th that really put the game away. He was definitely the player of the game.
After Shn-Est allowed three runs in the 8th to slightly open the door the Gnomes looked like they'd get through the 9th quickly. Rd-Bk mowed down the first two New Montreal States batters before consecutive errors by Ray Durham
a single and then a base clearing double led to three more runs. However Rd-Bk induced a pop up to end the game and provide joy for Az-cz fans contrasting the concurrent horrors of the AOWC, AOCAF and Cup of Harmony.
They follow up this game with a matchup against Marion Oaks 2, a team that got absolutely pounded in their opening game 13-2. The Gnomes will definitely be looking for a similar result.

OOC: An Archy you realize that your innings pitched is ridicoulous. My guy gives up 3 hits and 1 run yet only goes 5 innings yet their guy goes 7 innings while giving up 13 runs. What the hell? Also can you put in at bats just so I can figure out how successful my guys are in terms of avg.

Next generation starts off on a rampage (literally)

Well we now know that this second generation of baseball will definitely be at least as good as the first generation as they started in almost perfect fashion with a 23-1 victory over Iesus Christi. No that's not a typo, 23 runs for the Warriors including a whopping 9 in the 9th innning. Manager Jack Yosefon said, "Some doubted us after we didn't win the Olympics but that was our B team. Our A team is much better and is out to beat any and all comers. We fully expect to go undeafeated from the group and undeafeated in the tournament." Now for the daily rendition of how they scored:

2nd inning: Tal Gool led off the inning with one of his 4 doubles in the game. Then Barrett Hamilton singled him in to make it 1-0 Milchama. That was just the beginning as Marcus Loshe flied out. Then Kent Monarch singled to put runners on first and third. Matan Williams walked to load the bases followed by Ronny Bjork flying out for the second out. Finally Del Carmic got out to make it 2-0 Milchama.

4th inning: Barrett Hamilton doubled to start off the inning. Loshe then got him to third on a sacrifice bunt. Kent Monarch got him home on a groundout for a 3-0 Milchama lead. Matan Williams then doubled to keep the inning alive followed by a Ronny Bjork single for a 4-0 Milchama lead. The rally continued when Del Carmic singled up the middle for the third run of the inning and a 5-0 lead.

5th inning: Micheal Flinter singled to lead off the inning which was an omen of good things to come, espiecially when Tal Gool doubled him in for a 6-0 lead. Barrett Hamilton then singled Gool in for a 7-0 lead. However Phil Foster struggled a bit in the 5th inning as the lead off man doubled followed by the next guy doubling him in for a run to make it 7-1 Warriors at the end of the inning.

Due to the awesomeness and longness of the 9th inning, we take you there.

9th inning: Kenny Merrick led off with a single then Flinter followed with another single. Tal Gool then hit another of his 4 doubles to drive Merrick in for 1 run. Hamilton then singled and Flinter scored but Gool only got to third because of the nice play by the left fielder. Marcus Loshe then got a pitch he liked and finally was able to drive a long fly ball out of the stadium for his first homerun and a 17-1 lead. Kent Monarch then kept up the fine display with a homerun of his own that gave the Warriors 18 runs on the night. Yosefon then gave out the call, "don't stop until we get 20." Matan Williams took it too heart as he doubled down the first base line. Bjork then singled to put runners on first and third. Merrick came up again and walked to load up the bases. Flinter then struck out and Gool singled to score a run. Barrett Hamilton got a nice screwball that he missed to make 2 outs and the bases juiced. It left the 20 down to Loach who did not dissapoint as he hit another homerun, his second of the inning to give the Warriors 23 runs and him 5 RBIs on the night. The final score was 23-1 Milchama.

Milchama Player of the Game:
None other than Phil Foster. His complete game 3 hitter was brilliant from all ends. He only had one real hiccup in the 5th inning with the back to back doubles but outside of that it was perfect as he only gave up one other single, in the first inning, the whole game. It should make for good rest for out bullpen.

6 run inning kills off Expos

Yet another bad start in World Cup action

AN ARCHY - Arguably the worst start yet in the three World Cups of baseball for the Reformed Expos took place last night as the Expos self-destructed in the bottom of the 7th inning, coughing up 6 runs. Maybe.

We can't figure it out, as the entire game was played in a giant, really thick fog that made it impossible for anyone, down to and including the players. We'll have more details when we figure out what the hell happened.

I have to agree with Milchama but I think there is a better example out there. Lexington game, pitcher gives up two hits on zero ER yet he gets pulled after six innings, sure six innings is still considered a solid start, but how many managers are going to pull a pitcher in a situation like that? I can only think of a few and usually that would be in the All-Star game.

"Happer-Synan Show" Leads Pegasi to Win

The Pegasi saw their first action of the Baseball World Cup III today against fellow newcomers from Lexington SC. The Sylvanaes Kingdom had high hopes of what would happen in this game. Starting off strongly was very much needed as ASMV and Casari are also in the group. But the results today were far more solid than we had ever hoped for.

Lakeshia Di Pierro was the starter for the all-women Pegasi and everyone knew that she planned to make a big statement in her first start. And she did just that. 5 innings pitched with two Ks and allowing just one hit. Not bad for a female in a men’s league. Set-up pitcher Daria Sandhop and closer Alesia Mahrer were brilliant as well - Lexington Sc was kept off the board. No runs allowed in the One-hitter. A great start for Pegasi pitchers.

And guess what? We can hit as well. And score. Let’s see how things went down.

The first two innings saw no score, but in the third D&S took a 1-0 lead as Enriqueta Happer stole home. Too bad the Lexington players were watching Brigette Synan pick up the bat she had “dropped” at the time. We use what God gave us. And He gave Briggette a lot.

Two more runs would come in the 7th inning on a two run shot from Enriqueta Happer that also plated Brigette Synan. The score was now 3-0 and the Pegasi were looking to win their first-ever international game.

The win was solidified in the 9th as The “Happer - Synan Show” was in full effect yet again. Altagracia Mollins would score first on the Happer double. The Synan put the game to bed with a three run blast that also plated Kyong Bisesi and Roxane Samborski. Final score - D&S 7 LSC 0.

Expect the “Happer-Synan Show” to be in full effect for the next game. We are still unclear who we will play, but that makes little difference to us. Lashanda Aumen will get her first start and will look to continue the solid pitching.

Warlocks Survive Casari's 9th Innning Efforts

Casari vs. ASMV. What a way to begin the Baseball World Cup’s third installment. In terms of sheer excitement, it doesn’t get any better than this. And the game would be every bit the showdown that fans had hoped to see when they bought their tickets.

Casari would take the lead when they scored in the second inning but the third would see Wally Mc Tush score on the Britt Datu single. But it was the fourth inning that saw the flood gates open as The Warlocks put up a massive six runs while Casari earned just one. ASMV would add three more runs in the eighth inning as they pushed the lead to 11-2.

But this is Casari. And they weren’t going away without a fight. A Grand Slam and two more runs were enough to scare the pants off most of the ASMV fans. Casari looked brilliant enough to pull off the rally. But closer Dorsey Evanchalk pulled himself together and finished the game with 2 Ks that secured the win for the Warlocks.

Manager Maximillian Vega, nephew of the Presidente Commandante of the Draggonnii Socialist Empire, had this to say following the game -

“If you would have told me before the game that we would not get a single home run and still manage to beat Casari 11-8, I would have told you that you were nuts. But that is just what we did. The batters did a good job of putting the ball in play and legging out the runs. We had a huge lead thanks to the efforts of Lynwood Greenrose. He is very good at making the opposition hit into bad plays. But it wasn’t easy. Did any of you see how strong Casari was in the ninth? Damn good. The booze wore off. We have to keep them drunk the entire game next time.”

I have to agree with Milchama but I think there is a better example out there. I've decided that the scorinator isn't quite equiped to output pitcher stats. For the rest of this tournament, pitcher stats will be RP'd.

Also, I'll add at bats starting in the next set of games. I'll add at bats to each of the previous game as well, but it might take a few days.

It looks like we've gotten off to a pretty rocky start for this tournament. As some of you have noted, there were a few problems with the Box Scores. There's also a potentially catastrophic problem if a game goes into extra innings. Furthermore, I'm only getting 4 games done per day. That's only half as fast as I originally planned. So I'm going to delay scores for today so that I can make some tweaks to the scorinator that will allow me to streamline the entire scorinating process and fix any potential errors before they happen.

Wl-My was an absolute Giant out there today, coming up only a triple short of the cycle, while hitting a grand slam in the 7th that really put the game away.

Just so you know, it is literally impossible to get a triple in this socrinator.

Sorry, sorry, and sorry again for the delay in scores. I've been moving to Philadelphia over the past few days and I haven't had internet access. I should have warned you all about the move, (I knew months in advance that I would be moving.) but I never got around to it. Procastination sucks, I know. I'm not following the scores at all.

The first column tells you the position of the batter in the batting order. The second through eighth columns tell you 1B through ERR respectively for each batter.

If the new format for posting scores annoys you at all, I'm sorry, but using this format speeds up the process tremendously for me, making things much easier.

I hope this clears things up.

Things Got off alot better in Game 2 versus IDF in the NS Baseball World Cup III as RV held on for a Thrilling 1 point win in what resembles a football score 14-13.Again the Bullpen Faultered as Starter Mitzeger Surrendered 8 runs in his 7 innings but left the game with a 11-8 Lead surely the bullpen would hold this time but Santos Left a runner on in the 8th and Penero would give up 3 runs one that was left on by Satos's Hit Batter leading to Williamsons Illustrious 2 Run Homer that he Surrendered in the Sox 5 Run 8th inning to put them up 13-11 RV would again Answer it's Pitching Struggles with Hitting as they used small ball to notch 3 in the Bottom of the 8th and take the lead back 14-13. Milster would hold the lead in the 9th for a Slim RV Lead.

Gnomes baseball rolls up the runs again

Despite being a team based around small ball and defense the Pink & Green is rolling up wins by crushing the ball.
They opened it up in the third inning using a combination of walks, singles and one gigantic Br-Bnd grand slam to move up by seven runs. They moved up another four runs in the 4th inning with Will Clark driving in a couple of runs and New Montreal States giving up an unearned run.
Marichal had his one tough inning in the bottom of the fourth giving u p three runs which gave the Expos a bit of hope.
However the Robbers stole 3 more runs in the top of the fifth and Marichal held the Expos to one run over the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings before Flp-Alou went to the bullpen.
Although Shn-Est gave up four runs over the last two innings, the Gnomes added two of their own and the Gnomes won 16-8. With two wins over New Montreal States the Gnomes have established themselves as the team to beat in their group.

I can deny it no longer. These scores are out of control. I mean, 43 runs is just unacceptable, and I fear that we haven't seen the worst.

Just to put this in perspective:

The league On Pase Percentage is .468. It should be about .334

The league Batting Average is .428. It should be about .266

The league Extra-Base Hits per TOB is .303. It should be about .249.

The league HR per Extra-Base Hit is .470. It should be about .377.



From these stats, the only logical conclusion is that the scorinator contains an error that causes undesired offensive productivity. So, the question is, what should we do now?

1. We could continue the tournament ignoring the absurdness of the offensive output.

2. We could cancel the tournament and restart after I fix the problems with the scorinator.

3. We could cancel the tournament and restart with the old scorinator. (Version 2.1)

4. We could continue the tournament after a delay, during which I fix the problems with the scorinator.

5. We could continue the tournament using the old scorinator. (Version 2.1)

OOC - The runs scored is completely ludicrous. I agree on that fact. But on in my group, those have been fairly normal. I would say that any way it can be fixed needs to happen. No offense to Az-Cz, but 43 runs scored in one single game is beyond anything even resembling plausible. As for restarting the whole thing, only if the rosters do not have to change. But something needs done now - and if it is fixed then the absurd results already posted only serve to skew the stats in favor of those who have benefited from scorinator flaws. 43 runs scored in one game would only serve to keep that team at the top of that ranking list - not quite fair if we all dont have the chance for the same results.

The Sylvanaes Kingdom was fortunate to see its Pegasi Baseball team in action again against Lexington SC in the group stage of the WC III. It was the second meeting with LSC in as many games. And a chance for Synan - Happer Show to be in effect again.

Brigette Synan and Enriqueta Happer did their thing again as they combined for 4 RBI and 3 Runs. Not a bad day at the office for the dynamic duo. But the offense was more squarely on the shoulders of Alanna Sonza as she knocked in 4 and scored twice. Sonza was obviously the beneficiary of an LSC attempt at dodging the batting prowess of Synan for the most part. Adrianna Dearson’s Grand Slam in the 8th slammed the door on any attempt by LSC at a late rally.

But the real hero was Lashanda Aumen who controlled the flow of the game from the start as she held the LSC order to just 2 runs on 5 hits in the complete game - a rarity for Pegasi pitchers - and a feat not likely to happen again this World Cup. The only downside was that two of the hits went yard allowing the two LSC runs. But all in all it was a solid effort from Aumen.

And the 13-2 win finished off the two-game set with LSC and now the Pegasi must move forward to face one of the favorites of the group in either ASMV or Casari. ASMV has looked tough as they have controlled both games with Casari very easily. But don’t let Casari fool you. They will be tough as they look forward to playing either of the newcomers to this scene. Both teams will be very tough for the Pegasi to handle but we do look forward to the challenge of knocking off the big boys of the group.

that's a good point D&S. I'm not that concerned about my runs scored differential. I'd be willing to say that there was a mercy rule inforced and the other runs were just for fun. But if I lose three victories and the tournament starts over that's annoying. I agree that the scorinator is out of whack and I benefited from it, but that's what it was.

Considering the format of the tournament it doesn't make that much difference. It just means if I'm in a tie in my group I'll win the tiebreaker. Not a big deal.

We all agree that the scorinator was broken. I'm willing to accept retroactively changing the scores of my games. But the results should at least stay as simmed.

I will agree slightly with that fact Az as i have two wins over Casari and it would be annoying to lose those results, and D&S has two wins that make it hard for her to choose a restart when you take into account how often her teams seem to get screwed in competitions (Olympics notwithstanding) BUT it would only seem to be fair to start the thing over with a scorinator that works properly. The results have been too far out of normal for my taste. And starting over is not without precedent. WC25 had its MD 1 results changed to Friendly status due to error.

A restart would be fair. Simply consider the games thus far to be exhibition rather that competitive. That might give some credibility to the outlandishly high scores. Believe me, I like my two wins over casari and my wife really doesnt want to lose the two wins over Lexington SC. But 43-14 scorelines are too far out of whack. And this is just one of the outlandish scores posted.

This is a tough decision for all of us. And I know you (Az) do not want a restart. But really consider what is the right thing. You dont want it due to your early success in this tourney. But you have had nothing but early success in every tourney you enter. For my wife (D&S) to call for a restart it takes a lot considering that she is always at the top of every RP ranking and very seldom gets any results that reflect that in the final standings. You won the first three games this time around and could very well pull the same results again. I do respect your opinion but have to disagree.

But this is just my opinion and we will have to await the final decision and go on from there.

I think there are two separate issues here:

1. Believability as baseball

2. Fairness of the results

Now lets look at the issues

1. Clearly for believability as baseball the scorinator needs to be fixed. From this standpoint we might be better off wiping the scores and starting over. Or we could come up with in character explanations for them. And continue on with more reasonable scorelines.

2. However from a fairness of the results standpoint I'd argue it's much more unfair to start over than it is to continue with the results already in the book. If we continue on all that the unreasonable scores would do is guarantee that I win any tiebreakers and Marion Oaks 2 loses them. But if we made the score say 18-2 instead of 43-14 I'd still be quite likely to win any tiebreakers and they'd still be likely to lose. The teams in my group would still be able to pass me by winning games. And if I continue to win then it wouldn't matter anyways. So as far as continuing forward the unreasonable scorelines have some effect, but not that big of one. However to take away all the results have way into the group stage would have a huge effect. We'd be not just talking about the effect on run differential but actually changing results, and we're not just talking about one round. I've played half my group games. It's much more unfair to go back and change a large number of results than it is for teams in one group to have slightly skewered chances of winning their tiebreakers.

If we continue the tournament, each tie breaker will be determined by a three game series. This will eliminate the unfairness created by the exteme run differential in games such as Az-cz's 43 run slugfest.

Although I specifically designed each stat to have a median equal to the AL average over the past 8 seasons, the upward variability was unintentionally higher than the downward variability. As such, the average for each stat was higher than the 8 season AL average. This basically means that the advantage of good batters against bad pitchers is higher than the advantage of good pitchers against bad batters.

From the poll, it seems that 4 out of 7 are against restarting the tournament.
Also, 4 out of 7 voters favor keeping the current scorinator (after modifications.)

So far, I'm leaning toward continuing the current tournment after modifying the scorinator. I want to see a few more votes or comments before I make a final decision.

As long as it is a 3 game series that determines things rather than the runs scored, it will be ok with me (and my hubby) to continue on using the fixed scorinator without a restart. So both of our votes can be changed to continue tourney after fixing the scorinator. This of course is on the condition of the run totals not being used as a tie-breaker.

The thing is, there was no consistant bias against batting oriented or pitching oriented teams. D&S is a pitching oriented team, and she's doing great. The marginal utility of pitching skill is close to (if not exactly) the same as it would have been without the errors. Nevertheless, after careful consideration, I think that I have found a consistant and unfair bias against certain types of rosters.

Pitching oriented rosters with a well rounded batting order will unexpectedly perform worse offensively compared to pitching oriented rosters with an emphasis on individual talent in the batting order. Batting oriented rosters with an emphasis on individual talent in the batting order will unexpectedly perform worse offensively compared to batting oriented rosters with a well rounded batting order.

Not all biases are unfair, though. In the first two tournaments, there was a slight bias in favor of teams whose fifth batter was rated higher than their fourth batter, but my explanation of how the scorinator functioned allowed a diligent participant to understand this bias before creating their roster. The bias in this tournament, however, could not have been expected, even by the most diligent participants (or even myself for that matter). So this bias was clearly unfair.

As of now, I'm undecided as to whether to cancel the tournament or continue it after adjusting the scorinator. No solution is completely fair.

Alright, I've made my decision. I've fucked up too many times this tournament, and we need to start over. Sorry to those who have already won several games, but I think everyone can recognize that this tournament has been completely absurd.

My first step is to create a new scorinator. There were just too many problems with the old scorinator. Aside from the over powered offenses, roster creation was too complicated, and some of the statistics didn't add up correctly.

I'll try to have the new scorinator as soon as possible.

There's no point in letting our players get jerked around like this. At some point in the future we'd be interested in returning to compete in international baseball, but for the time being we can't ask our players to compete under such disjointed circumstances. With the schedule being entirely uncertain and their hard work thrown down the drain the players just didn't see the point in continuing. It's not like the only thing they have going for them is this tournament. So the team withdraws from the competition.
