OOC: Good old fashion high fantasy anyone?

Im in the mood for a good fantasy/adventure RP and, thusly, have come up with the following background story for an RP:
First, the world as we know it:
The realms of Haven:
Kingdom of Avera:
The (European based) mostly human kingdom of our mythical realm. A massive empire that controls some of the most fertile areas in the East. Towns and small farming villages dot the scenic landscape of this idyllic kingdom. The capital city, Delain, is the worlds largest sea harbor and commands commerce along Crystal Bay and into the Eastern Depths. Delain also boasts a large population of Elves. Despite recent turmoil resulting from the demon/wizard Kurtz (more on that later), the empire is relatively stable and commands a large, well trained, and well equipt army. The King, His Majesty Louis XXII is both competant and benelovent, and has brought prosperity to the realm despite the unrest outside of its borders. Avera's Church weilds a great deal of influence over the politics of the empire, but is mostly benevolent and uses its power in favor of the poor. If you could choose where to live in Haven, it'd be in Avera.
The Baronies: A large swath of hilly prairie land directly north and west of Avera ruled by various dukes and lords, the Baronies are governed by Avera only in theory. Petty wars and rebellions constantly sweep the country side, and violent political and religious revolutionaries continously stirr up the commoners and serfs. Whereas Avera, aside from its more diverse cities, is almost completely human, the baronies are a mix of dwarves and men. The Baronies are more than triple the size of Avera, but has only a slightly larger population. The Baronies suffered a great deal from the misdeeds of the sorcerer known there as Kane.
(think the American West in the 1800s w/o guns)
The Territories: Even more remote than the Baronies, the 'territories' is a vast wilderland that stretches continually west, growing continually more mountainous, until met with the vast Almighty's Crown mountain range.
There are a few sparse human settlements, mostly inhabited by ranchers or loggers, depending on the terrain at hand. (The territories contain large pine forests as well as grass lands). Herds of buffalo roam and wild horses the open plains, while the woods are filled with bears and deer. There are a great many, small elven camps and villages scattered throughout the wild landscape due to the fact that this area was once the seat of the lost Elven Empire. Massive ruins, tombs, and countless artifacts are littered throughout the wilderness. Goblins also inhabit the wilderness, and are more than happy to prey on any elf or man foolish enough to stray to far from the path.
The Almighty's Crown:
The vast peaks of Haven's largest mountain range is home to the dwarven kingdom, or 'The Federation of Stone.' Merchant cities, like the Brotherhood's Capital, Durnham, prosper from healthy trade with Avera, which is accomplished on several massive trade roads that span the territories and baronies. The Dwarven army is by far the best trained in the world, and, though few in number, weilds deadly technology- IE the musket. Perhaps more than anything the dwarves despise the goblins, who inhabit abandoned mines and constantly war with the Federation.
Cathay: A mysterious realm west of the Almighty's Crown and East (across the ocean) of Avera, only the dwarves have really interacted with it's strange human inhabitants, since they trade with them- gold for gunpowder.
(like ancient China, not to play a big role in the story.)
Darkwood, Witchwood and the Northern Badlands: North of the the baronies, Territories, and the Almighty's Crown, Darkwood and Witchwood are essentially the same massive forest that stretches from the sea to the mountains. Full of foul, close growing pine trees with blueish pines, poisonous mushrooms, and choking vines Darkwood and Witchwood are unpleasant places to say the least. Haunted Elven ruins litter the forest, filled with vampires, necromancers, and their undead puppets. Goblins thrive in this venomous environment, though they are not the worst creatures dwelling under Darkwood's boughs. Werewolves are a common sight, and frequently head into the Northern baronies to feed on villagers.
The Northern badlands are even worse than the haunted forest directly south of them. A mountainous, freezing wasteland previously home to a race of elves known as "Cra'yvan"- or Lost Souls, the badlands are full of mutant abominations that are the result of the Cra'yvan's experiments. Like the dwarves, the Cra'yvan lived in massive underground cities and mountain strongholds. However, instead of gold their passion was science, and it proved to be their undoing. The Cra'yvan delved too deeply into the earth, and experimented to much with it's rock until finally they discovered WarpStone (think fantasy plutonium). This new, pulsating green rock was an amazing source of energy... but constant exposure caused the Cra'yvan race to become sterile... and it eventually vanished from the earth, leaving only ruins and vast quantities of WarpStone behind. As a result many of the native creatures to the northlands have either disappeared or mutated, creating horrorific half-living monster's that roam the northern wastes preying on one another. WarpStone also caused the downfall of the Elven Empire....
History:
Aristocratic and arcane High House Velim, the elven royal house who ruled what was to become Darkwood, wanted to embrace the power of WarpStone a cleanse the world of humans. House Dur'quaar, the house which ruled what is now the territories, realized that the stone was unnatural, and opposed Velim. A massive civil war ensued. Using WarpStone weaponry, House Velim vaporized much of Dur'quaar's armies... before the deadly stone was accidently dropped within the Velim capital city, leveling it in single deadly blast. Darkwood thus fell under WarpStone's taint, and the goblin race was born from the Velim survivors. Human's now inherited the world...
Recent History:
A well known sorcerer and travelling magician, known to some as Kane, acquired several peices of warpstone in his travels. Planning to use the deadly substance to his own ends- namely wiping out Averian armies and seizing the throne... and using his magical talent, rallied a massive army in the baronies under the banner of democracy and marched on Avera. A huge war between the Averian loyalists within the baronies and Kane's revolutionaries ensued, culminating in the devastating battle of Orchard Hill Chapel (...fought in an orchard, on a hill, near a chapel). Again WarpStone was deployed unintentionally, decimating Kane's forces. It was during this battle that ArchDuke Andre DeGrasse unmasked Kane (or Kurtz, or Kraag, or Karne as some knew him) as not a human but a demon in the guise of a man. He nearly slew Kane, but the wizard escaped due simply to an unfortuate arrow that plunged into DeGrass's torso as he hefted his sword.
The RP:
Simply this: you are an imperial soldier, battlemage, priest, healer, sorcerer, mercenary, ninja, archer, w/e, charged by the emporer himself to hunt down and kill Kane. You can choose your proffession, age, race, skill level ect ect... please dont godmod- and it'll be more fun if not everyone's a pro at everything. I will RP as the GM and as Kane and his minions and, possibly, a member of the party. All RPers will be a member of Kane's hunting party. Fairly straightfoward for such an in depth intro, isnt it?
Alternately, you can choose to be one of Kane's many minions... a goblin leader, necromancer, psycopath, assassin... just prepare to die at some point.
Or you can have one of each. If you choose to be evil, feel free to have a fortress, cave, tomb, attic, or other dwelling place... Kane will come to you...
Sound fun? I hope so...
If you didnt understand all of the above history crap, let me put it simply- you are hunting a badguy that caused some big war- or serving him.
Sounds interesting, do you have a template you wish used?
Also any restrictions on race?

Bio:
As for races, stick to humans, dwarves, or Elves- they can all be good or evil
Or goblins and Vampires if you are definately evil. Goblins look rather varied but a very intelligent, love technology, are cannablistic, and generally have green skin, slitted eyes and rows of sharp teeth.
Trolls also exist, but are not smart enough to be a character.
You are welcome to have a good and evil character, or two evils. No more than one goodguy though, unless you ask me and I approve.
Any objections to half-breeds?

Nope, go for it.
Will get up character(s) no later than tomorrow. Last question, do you mind a 'semi-character'(a troll minion to another character)?
Old Atlantia
06-09-2006, 02:49
No... I had that idea myself actually. Just be aware that they are not Tolkienesque trolls. They are massive grey skinned mutants that have random extra (or missing) appendages, red eyes (or eye) and ALOT of teeth, horns, spikes and claws.
I'm in... I'll get a character up eventually (after I read through it and think about it).

Cool, thanks for the interest
hey I'm in. How many characters can we have? Would large famlies count against a quota?
Oh and would anyone be intrested in joining a few RP's of mine? I'm sorry but I'm getting desperate

To answer your first question- you are allowed one good character and one evil character (if you wish). If your large family is intended to be evil, then I might consider it...
Also, Ill happily join some of your RPs, lemme just read em...

I thought about Glory Road, but it was already well underway when I started RPing again. I hope Tanara and some of the others join this one though
Trolls get the 'standard' regen?
Vamps standard weaknesses/any necro abilities(mild)?
This kind of troll is loosely what you invision: Chaos Troll (http://uk.games-workshop.com/beastsofchaos/miniature-gallery/11/)?
Perhaps I want a large good family? But I'll understand if no.

Ill join that RP in a few, and sorry but I really cant let you have a large good family... this is supposed to be a relatively small hunting party.

Theao,
like those trolls, but more like something that crawled out a nuclear wasteland.
As for Vamps, they can either be warriors or necromancers- full on powerful ones if you wish... the standard weaknesses/strengths apply- and since the religion of Avera is its own version of Christianity- crucifixes and holy stuff do work- along with sunlight, silver, ect.

Gotcha, but silver's Werewolf weakness, not a Vamp(or at least I've never heard of silver affecting a vampire)

Great to have you on board Tanara.
Oh, and I forgot something- before you all start your bios- someone will have to be the leader of the hunting party...
I will keep the leader informed OOC of what his/her char needs to know IC.
Anyone interested? Please dont be offended if I dont pick you, Im just trying to make a good story.
Theao, read the novel 'Salems Lot by Stephen King- it's great. I got the silver stuff just from the Blade movies though
I got the silver stuff just from the Blade movies though
Aye, I was about to say that.
@Tanara: What is the other half of Aradia? You said Half elvin... does that imply the other half is human (I was thinking about doing a half-elvin half-human myself)?
Yes Aradia is half elvin / half human, I figure a life span of about 6oo years or so.
I am going to play Aradia as fairly 'fresh out of the academy'- naturally skilled & Very well trained but not highly experienced. Mother elf, a mage - father human- an Imperial Officer, so she has 'war stories' from both and a fair amount of common sense to leven the inexperience.

Hey Old Atlantia, would it be possible for a good vampire character? Or a good goblin character?
Just a query from the curious
Alright... maybe I'll just do a human warrior/ranger then.
Name: Deo
Race: Human

Age: 20s
Physical Desc: Tall, lean, blue eyed, brown hair, handsome
Weapons: Number of knives, short long sword.
Skills/Spells: Thief/Rogue type skills, fairly skilled but gets caught, but not arrested often
Bio: Deo was born in the capital city of the Empire and was raised as a thief, a scoundrel and generally the kind of person young women are taught to fear and flee from. He became a well known rogue and was well liked, even by the gentry to an extent as it became a sort of badge of honour to be burgled by him. Due to an incident with the daughters of a high ranking noble and Bishop(changed to nobles if clergy are not allowed to marry/have kids), he had to leave town post-haste and had generally been getting up to mischief ever since. One of the most effective, if naughty, ways to get him to stop whatever he is doing is to have an attractive woman pass his field of vision in an advanced state of undress.

Arriving at a carriage, she entered with him till they arrived at a manor house. The strange man then spoke for the first time since she'd met him and for what would also be the last. He informed her that she could either follow him on the path he walked or returned to her home as if nothing had happened.
Deciding to follow him, they entered the building and ate a simple meal in silence as while she was full of questions she could not voice them. That night as she slept, he began the process of her becoming a vampire. Waking the next night, she found a book, a note, the crystal kris and an freshly born troll. Sorry Blastit, but both are by nature evil...
Theao, you're accepted- Im going to have Karina live in Darkwood for now... which means she might not see action for awhile. But we'll see how it turns out...

Fair enought, thought it's not traditional. In fact not even sunlight is a traditional anti-vamp, at least in the slavic countries. Many preventative/binding methods, not so many killing methods.
Sorry Blastit, but both are by nature evil...

Alright(perhaps on the borders of the Dark/Witchwood?), and while I don't object to her death, would prefere to avoid it. Also she's likely to not work well with others, nor would other vampire work with her as she has a tendency to kill them.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/Venisar.jpg
Name: Venisar
Gender: Male
Race: Elvin
Age: 217 (appears between 25-35)
Hair: Spiky Blond
Eyes: Blue
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 165 lbs.
Weapons: Crystal double-bladed stave imbued with magical energy (see picture) and a Clawed metal glove (see picture)
Abilities: Aside from his natural Elvin strengths and benefits as well as his warrior skills, Venisar has the ability to jump inanely far or high.
Skills: He is quite skilled with blades of various kinds as well as his clawed hand which he wields like no other weapon. He can fight weaponless and knows how to use a bow, but be prefers to and generally sticks to fighting with his weapons. He also knows three spells taught to him by different Elvin wizards. One of the spells makes him disappear, another heals very minor wounds, and the last calms other beings (especially animals and beasts).
Personality: Laid-back, peaceful, passive, accepting, non-combative or confrontational
Pets: None serious, occasional birds.
Venisar was born to loving parents of the till. He grew up as any other Elvin child of his day did and enjoyed his childhood like any other. His family owned a little claim of land in a mixed settlement in the Kingdom of Avera. The town was on the smaller side, but was home to a diverse people from different races and beliefs. Loved by his parents, it was the town as a whole that raised him as he was the only child of his age group - no other children from any race had been born to the village within ten years before or after his birth. Though seemingly lonely, his experience would teach him two important lessons for the future: to learn to be alone at times as well as relying on people at times and to be accepting of others, whatever that entails.
For the next couple decades of his life after he came of age, Venisar worked diligently on his family's land. He learned the meaning of hard work and making a honest living, both of which would later have an effect on his character. However, when he was in his mid fifties, still extremely young for an elf and looking not a day over twenty, the young laborer felt something... something very strong. It wasn't an emotion so much as a metaphysical feeling and it was not something that was to be explained. The only thing he knew was that there was an undeniable calling for him to take up arms and be prepared to defend his life, his family, and his people when the need arose.
As many an elf does, Venisar begun his training, which he did by himself and without any true guidance, with a bow. With his keen eyesight and dexterity, the young warrior-to-be became a good shot, or at least decent in Elvin terms, but not without time and temperance. However, it was clear to the young elf that the bow was not his true calling. When he first picked up a blade it was evident to all that he had a natural knack for it. In a matter of months he had become quite skilled with the blade he chose and in a couple years with any blade he picked up, but he would still be no match at this point for a true warrior. So far many years he continued training, but still his aid was not needed as the town and surrounding countryside remained peaceful for decades.
No longer a young lad, Venisar had become well respected in his village at the age of one hundred sixty. And though the dangers he felt still not come to fruition, Venisar continued using his time to better his skill and even occasionally hired himself out for various tasks in order to make a coin or two. At this point, he done away with his basic weapons and forged unique ones of his own. Taking an indestructible hilt he had found and a formation of powerful crystals that he happened to venture across in his journey over the hills one day, the Elvin warrior crafted a weapon that few had seen before - it was double bladed and sharp with the handle in the middle. It took many years to master, but when he did, the weapon and fighting style became something he could call his own... and could call effective. Quick, strong, and dexterous, Venisar had the uncanny ability to jump innanely high and far (thousands of feet) and when combined with a style and weapon none had ever seen before, he became a very potent warrior. Once, while practicing his art in the shade of a tree, a high Elvin wizard arrived to watch him after a long journey. The wizard was quite impressed and offered to imbue his stave with a self-replenishing energy (not healing) that would add effect when he made contact with the crystal and that would absorb or reflect limited amount of energy that was deflected at him. Needless to say, Venisar accepted, but was surprised when the wizard went one farther and stayed with him for a year as he taught him three useful spells; the first spell made him temporarily invisible for a short amount of time, unknown sensible in the physical or metaphysical realm; the second gave him the ability to heal the most minor of wounds; and the third was the ability to calm other beings through a strange energy that he emitted. Venisar was quite happy with the gifts he had been granted and vowed to use them for good. But still no dangers lurked near...
However, before the century was out, danger and far beyond would reveal itself. Death and destruction would rear its ugly head when Kane raised an army through his guile and trickery and marched on Avera. In the years since he had begun his training, Venisar's mindset and attitude had changed vastly. He had now become quite laid-back, relaxed, accepting, and passive. Although still a warrior through training and skill, the elf no longer truly wished to fight. He had seen his share of death and the misery it brought, and though not quite a pacifist, Venisar preferred that conflict and disagreement be settled verbally and diplomatically, relying on sword and blood as a means of last resort. In some sense, it was what set him apart from many other Champions of his day...
But when the call came for the armies of Avera to amass, the once young elf with dreams of his destiny answered. Hoping to put this evil down, Venisar took up his stave and claws and prepared his skills for battles. And a mighty it was as blood stained the land. The battle of Orchard Hill Chapel would forever be cemented into his memories, only pushing him farther towards his views. However, when the Emperor put forth the challenge of hunting down and ending the villainous man responsible for this all, Kane, Venisar had no choice but to respond in hopes that he could destroy this evil one and for all...

I'm not sure if some of these things may be iffy, but if you want, some of the things I'm willing to change ;)
Name: Malivious Dren (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/Blastit52/vampire.jpg)
Race: Vampire
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown, Possibly several thousand (If alright).
Physical Description: Tall (6'2), pale skin. Black pupils and black hair. Wears elegant black clothing, and considered handsome by most. Skinny, but has a good amount of unnatural strength in him (effects of WarpStones). Unnaturally elongated canines (Warpstones).
Weapons: Pistol, musket, rapier.
Skills/Spells: Necromacy, Curse, raising the dead, dead-eye (as much as the musket/pistol would let him), Resistance to mind-spells. Increased reflexes. Can turn into Batlike creature. Dramatically Increased rate of healing.
Bio:
Malivious Dren was quite the nobleman back when he was actually human. He was the life of all parties, and he got along quite well with others, including several 'higher-ups'. His profession was that of a scientist, biologist, more like, but a scientist none the less.
However, as he was traveling to a noble's house in Darkwood, his carriage was ambushed, and massacred by a vampire, whom never revealed to him his name. Not that he really had the chance.
After Malivious awoke, he found himself healed, only recieving two strange scars on his neck. As he explored in his ruined carriage, he pulled out his mirror to examine the two imprints on his neck, yet he was dreadfully shocked to know that the mirror revealed nothing of his image, only the background behind him.
With terror and fear in his heart, he ran home, as fast as he could, before he felt the effects of sunlight on his newly vampiric form. His skin burned as though he let them sit in a fire for too long.
His skin did return to it's normal, if not paler, self within hours after the sunlight hit him, he had to be careful. He would not want a clergyman to notice him, much less anyone.
Eventually, he did get himself back to his mansion, and worked feverously to get himself a cure, in many ways, nearly killing him.
Yet, as time progressed, he found himself enjoying this 'blessing'. He realized he was faster, stronger, smarter...more powerful. In fact, he enjoyed it so much, he had to indulge himself in it's fruits. Every night, he would leave the safety of his own home, sucking the blood out of basically any person to get in his way.
After several years of going unnoticed...he made a terrible mistake. He had tried to feed upon a holy man, which he had not known, and paid dearly for it. Again, he burned, if not more lethal than the sunlight. That was when he ran, bringing everything he could with him. For the most part, his vampiric studies were destroyed, along with his house and his servants, who, he had good fun learning necromacy on...
Eventually, he continued his way through Witchwood, the Darkwood, and finally, the Northern Badlands.
Along the way, he found himself a friend, or more like, an eager slave, promised with the prospect of a workshop and perhaps more power. Grelch Metalooze, a genius of a goblin, with several ingenius clockwork soldiers, firearms, even machines that Malivious couldn't understand were the work of the tiny creature.
And so, with the help of Grelch, Malivious was finally able to reach the Northern Badlands, create a luxorious manor, with several workshops and labs.
The elves certainly intrigued him, performing tests on these deliciously intriguing 'Warp Stones'. Yet he vowed not to follow their mistakes...at least not all of them...
Using Grelch's ingenious clockwork creations, the vampire was able to test the stones vigoriously, sometimes experimenting them on himself to examine the effects. He noticed even his vampiric senses were heightened even further by the effects, despite the nearly lethal doses he took.
Year after year passed, Malivious losing contact with the outside world, until someone by the name of "Kane" fought against those that were once his friends. He felt nothing for the lives lost, but what took his attention away from his precious work, was the fact that Kane was attempting to use the 'Stones' as a weapon. What kind of weapon? What would the effects be?
Malivious was so entranced at the idea, diverting his attention to focusing the stones power as a weapon that could possibly make him the most powerful creature in the world...
Spending most of time researching, hypothosizing, and practicing his necromacy has left his fencing skills somewhat lacking, but by no means weak. However, he has become quite a necromatic power, along with quite an accomplished vampire.
Name: Grelch Metalooze
Race: Goblin
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Physical Description: Short, green, long pointed ears. Wears black goggles. Rides on automaton that is about nine feet tall and has a row of muskets under the 'cockpit' and large metallic hands used for crushing, grabbing, or anything else that could be thought up.
Weapons: Automatons, pistol.
Skills/Spells: Mechanical genius. Bad aim with a pistol, however has several 'marksmen' kind of machines. Tends to keep himself away from a fight, even if he's inside his automaton.
Bio:
Grelch was born to a goblin clan that lived with genius expectations.
His father was an explosive expert, his mother a medical genius (In goblin standards).
However, even such talents could not keep a society such as this one together. Many goblins disliked their leader with a passion, while others agreed he was the smartest and wisest of them all.
Both Grelch's mother and father soon joined in this short spanned civil war in their own clan. In about two hours, the disgruntled goblins had won the battle, killing their leader and Grelch's parents.
Grelch, however, was spared, and taught how to put things together and basic mekanics.
Yet, after ten years of studying under a renowned master, he surpassed him with his own ingenius creations that were previously dismissed as 'wild hog's turds of thoughts'. With these new machines, Grelch killed his previous master and used all the parts available to create more automatons.
The leader realized this new thread and exiled the goblin, much to the agreement of the now tiny clan.
Grelch, seeing nothing being accomplished should he fight them, merely accepted the fact he was too good for them. He began his travels, nearly getting eaten by a werewolf or two.
Realizing that Grelch's tiny, frail, body would be useless if he were alone, he combined several of his machines into one. A mechanical suit, where he sat comfortably on a small stool he had stolen from a small village.
Soon after, he met a man who carried himself as though he were the King of Avera. But the man's words carried through to Grelch. He saw the opportunity to create armies of automatons. To secure his place in the world, to become a somebody.
And so now he follows Malivion loyaly...or so he lets people think he does...

Blastit, everything there is fine you're accepted
DMG- pending your bio your char is accepted. Just a suggestion, I think his clawed hand should be either a weapon he wears over his real hand, or something he can magically turn his hand into.
OA, any objection to me setting out how Karina is viewed amongst other vampires?
As I view it(percents are aproximates):
5% would be terrified if she was in the vicinity
60% would be respectful/differential and very unlikely to oppose her
30% would be respectful thought not differential, would oppose her on major issues, not minor ones
5% wouldn't have a problem telling to piss off(due to being brave, stupid or because they're powerful enought to(with the majority in the first two catagories))

It is... I just couldn't think of a good way to explain it (in part because I was tired). It is a glove type thing (though the palm of his hand is most exposed and it is all metal).

Is it intended as a punching type weapon or a slashing type?
If punching type, it's sounds similar to an adaptation of the Cestus called the Myrmax, while if slashing it sounds like a Neko-te (http://www.spiderwebart.com/images/art/105024a.jpg)
You can see it in his picture... it is a slashing and stabbing type weapon... massive, sharp claws.

Characters RPed by moi:
Alias(es): Kane, Arnold Kurtz, Alexander Kaine, Andrew Ketterly, Artemus Kandy, Anthony Kraag, the Smiling Man, the Magician, Satan, Beezulbub, Lord of the Flies ect ect ect
True Name: Legion
Race: ?, looks human
Gender: appears male
Age: More ancient than the oldest elves
Attire: black, broad brimmed hat, dusty black jeans, black traveling cloak (like a trench coat), white linen button down shirt, black vest, worn out cowboy boots- everything he wears is worn and frayed with age
Physical desc: Tall, slender with a very handsome face (everyone sees it slightly differently, so its impossible to describe), dark grey eyes, and shoulder length raven hair. He is very pale, though heathy looking, and is nearly always grinning
Skills: Extremely powerful sorcerer
Bio: Ageless, faceless, and ever changing, Kane is an agent of chaos, an eternal bringer of lunacy, suffering and death. His ultimate goal is quite simple, the complete self destruction of man (and elves and dwarves). It was he, in the guise of a scientist, that brought WarpStone to the Cra'yvan and, in the costume of a royal advisor, convinced House Velim to use the malign substance against their brothers. The greed, gullibility, lust, wrath, and hate of man are his primary weapons... and they are potent indeed.
For the centuries after the fall of the Elves he traveled the lands in the guise of a wandering magician, impressing farmers and commoners with card tricks while he whispered poison in their ears. He caused villages to tear each other apart, convinced lovers to kill, priests to lust, and Lords to war against their neighbors. He waited, content with minor mischeif... until finally he saw the opportunity he was waiting for in the form of the Baronies. Under the name of Kane he led a host of the misguided poor against loyalists to the Crown, decimating the population and livelyhood of the region and weakening its ability to fight a foriegn foe... leaving Avera exposed. His defeat at Orchid Hill Chapel mattered little, for the chaos, death, and destability that his war caused was the end, not the means. Now the monster heads north towards the badlands, scheming to use the ancient Cra'yvan technology against Avera.
(One more char to come, a good guy that will lead the expedition initially.)

OA, seeing as how you are having a religion based off an equivalent of Christianity, could I bring use a character with an angel's sword (equivalent to the Flaming Sword of Saint Michael the Archangel)?
I have a character from another RP that's got this (our realm based), but I intend to create a new character for this RP.
So essentially a super-sized Neko-te?
Just look at his picture... there is no better way I can describe it or say it is similar to something than you just actually looking at it.

My good character and initial leader of the expedition:
Name: Jack Hawthorn
Race: Human
Gender: male
Age: 42
Proffession: Witch-hunter, Vampire Slayer, Exorcist
Attire: Dirty, light brown travelling cloak, dark blue linen shirt, faded blue jeans, beaten up boots
Phys desc: Tall, solidly built, rugged looking and unshaven with longish brown hair and deep blue eyes. See- http://www.jaestudio.com/gunfighter.jpg
Skills: Unrivaled marksman, first class swordsman, due his training and status as Witch Hunter he has the ability to negate some types of sorcery... sort of a psychic anti magic.
Weapons/equiptment: Twin revolvers, composite bow (slung across back), ornate, magical silver sword in cracked leather scabbard (http://www.jaestudio.com/BlessedSword.jpg), hunting knife
Bio: Hawthorn grew up in the tiny peasant village of Cardou, in the extreme North of the Baronies, on the border of Witchwood. Vampire, goblin, and werewolf raids were a constant threat from the shadow of the forest; children were always in danger. Despite the dreary life of peasantry, Jack found joy in his studies- in a one room school administered by the local priest-and, at the age of fifteen, found love... Diana, the prettiest girl in town and only a year older than Jack himself. On the happiest day of his life Hawthorn found out that her feelings were mutual, and a brief but golden period in his life began. For three months the lovers spent every waking moment together, and planned to be married in the local church. Then, in this sadly predictable world, tragedy struck in the form of a vindictive Vampire. The unholy creature hypnotised Diana over the course of several nights, and lured her into the shadow of Witchwood... forsaking her life with Jack for immortality. Hawthorn vowed revenge on the creatures of the night, and headed south to Avera. There his intelligence was recognized by his soon to be teacher, the prominent, elvish clergyman Cardinal Vaisseau. Vaisseau instructed Jack in the ways of combating the undead and unclean for ten years. Under the Cardinal, Jack learned how to combat sorcery, wield rare pistols made only by the Dwarves, and was instructed in the art of swordsmanship. In the many years after his intensive schooling Hawthorn has roamed the world, hunting vampires, werewolves, necromancers, witches, and other abominations. He is one of the few men alive to have survived the terrors of Darkwood, and is the only living Averian to have ever seen-albiet briefly- the northern badlands. Now he has been called back to Delain, at the request of his mentor, to lead the expedition charged with finding and killing the elusive and dangerous demon Kane.

07-09-2006, 01:33
Name: Kyoko Tanazaki
Race: Human/Sorceress
Age: 22
Physical Desc. Kind of tall, slender, nice build, long dark hair
Weapons: Magic
Skills/Spells: Light, Dark, Element, Healing (Can not reseurect or prevent death, heals only minor injuries, or sickness)

Staff: Long and silver, a single gem. The top curves over, and has a lone blue gem in it.

Pyro time!
Name: Lieffreid the Redhand
Age: Physically 25, but actually 80
Race: Human, Arch-Pyromancer
Profession: Vampire Slayer, Demon Killer, Witch Hunter, Werewolf Exterminator. If it prays upon Humanity, he kills it.
Attire: Suit of Fallen Star Armor (Titanium Plate), under garments of woven steel.
Appearance: Giant, 6'8" hulking figure, but his size belies his agility.
Weapon: The Flaming Sword of Balahur the Archangel. (Hand and a half sword that ignites by will of Lieffreid).
Bio: A small boy growing up in the Baronies, he was schooled in the ways of warfare to be a defender of his people. In actuality, he was taught by one of the local barons that noticed Lieffreid's relative size to others his age, that being, nobody more than half a year older than he stood above his shoulders. For this reason, the baron hoped to make Lieffreid into a champion that would be unbeatable in single combat, saving the baron both money and men and making it easy for conquest to occur based on the strength of the youth.
When he was sixteen, and already over the mark of 6'4," the baron went to war with a neighbor. Lieffreid was finally used as a champion, and defeated his opponent simply by bashing him to the ground with a swing of his shield, forcing the opposing champion to yield at sword point. This went on for two seasons of campaign, but halfway through his third campaign, Lieffreid met a man that beat him soundly. It was a Pyromancer assisting a brother, who refused to allow his brother's territory get swallowed up by a hulking youth. The pyromancer set flame to all of Lieffreid's weaponry and armor, but for it all, the youth was unscathed, and was not defeated until he retaliated with his own, misguided blast of fire, revealing him to be a latent pyromancer in his own right. The opposing baron, bowing to his brother's fee for service, did not become Lieffreid's baron's sovereign, but Lieffreid was released from his oath of servitude to be taught by the pyromancer.
After seven years of apprenticeship, Lieffreid was able to challenge his master, and defeated him in a battle of will alone, forcing his master's defenses down and thus winning without having to harm the man. In accordance to these laws, Lieffreid was given his master's most important power, that of temporary immortality. The power mandates that after a century of life, he take an apprentice, and continue to do so until one can force his own barriers down, though he may do so at any time prior, as his master had done. Thus, for the next twenty years Lieffreid is under no obligation pass the mantle, but after that time he must begin to search for a successor.
After gaining his full powers, Lieffreid was given a custom made suit of armor, made from the metal of a fallen star that had landed near his birthplace. the metal was called Titanium for its use of cladding a man of titanic proportions, and along with it came a suit of steel woven clothing, thus giving the Arch-Pyromancer garments that not even his powers could burn through. After gaining these valuable gifts, from his own master none-the-less, Lieffreid set out to go questing. During this time he undertook a journey that began as a simple errand, but ended with his acquisition of the Flaming Sword of Balahur the Archangel. His former master, having taken an apprentice only ten years after gaining power, spent his remaining days hunting out evils of the land, and when he died, Lieffreid was the man to ceremoniously burn his body and scatter his ashes.
Lieffreid has travelled a great deal, hunting evil with almost a supernatural sixth-sense He is one of the few Baronians to have seen the Northern Badlands and lived, accomplished during his quest for his holy blade, and has now hastened to Delain to join the expedition under the leadership of a respected and admired colleague, Jack Hawthorne.

Bio: A young farm girl who just left her family to marry and start her own with her husband. Sadly her husband went off on the hunt and she hasn't seen him since then.

Although this was a violent region she never saw war before, and was getting to feel safe, always knowing she was aways away. But life on her own was proving tough. She was pregante at 19 but sadly had a miscarriage, and she hasn't been the same since. She really yearns for a baby girl of her own, but with her husband gone, it isn't likely.
She began to think about the hunting parties, but was always hesitant. But one night, the war came to her. Her farm was burnt to the ground, and now she want's some payback.

Fantastic post Blastit, and though Dren probably does not know of Kane from books (the intro is only a couple of weeks after the battle), he could of heard of him in other ways. I'd rather he not know what exactly Kane is, but just have an idea that he is ancient, infinitely powerful, and both insane and evil. As for him knowing everything about the crystals, that's fine.
Since Dren lives in the northern badlands, there are some things you should know that I forgot to mention. First off, the ancient Cra'yvan were scientists and inventors with a high level of technology. The ruins of this technology (primitive oil derricks for example) and the remains of long dead towns and cities are scattered throughout the north. You could even have Grelch try to re-animate one of their ancient automations if you like. The capital city of the Cra'yvan is a massive underground metropolis (it is beneath a mountain) that is filled with mummified bodies, still half-working steam/warpstone powered machines, now useless automations, warpstone mutants, the warpstone crystal itself, and other goodies. That city is Kane's final destination for reasons to be revealed later (unless things change). Dren's manor might even be an ancient Cra'yvan stronghold?
****
Theao, Bishops really arent supposed to have kids (that doesnt mean that your bishop doesnt though, so your post is fine... the daughter could be illegit.). As for titles, the standard names apply- duke count ect. Your post was fine, I love your char- the playboy/theif concept is a good one.
The Blastit Empire
08-09-2006, 23:22
Why thank you!
I'll have it that Mal heard rumors about Kane, the wild ones like he's ancient (which he wouldn't believe) to one's he'd expect as in like he's a strapping young lad with plenty of ideas. Not knowing everything about the crystals, just studying them. I meant if I could know everything about the crystals like effects it would have on certain things, etc.
But if it's fine as it is so far, then it's fine with me :p
Sure, Dren's manor can be an ancient stronghold, with several smaller buildings added to it (Grelch's workshop and Mal's labs/test subject quarters).
So you wouldn't want Mal and Grelch to delve into the ancient city of the elves yet, right?
They'll probably just wander the frozen wastes, scavanging for test subjects/pieces to use for machines and possibly take a few machines. And to get more warpstone crystals lol
Old Atlantia
08-09-2006, 23:31
Id prefer you didnt find the City yet, no.
I have a slight dilemma... since Mal is located so far from where the action is, Im not sure how to get him involved with the group...
Would you be interested in creating another villain that can torment the party while Mal, Grelch and eventually Kane himself do whatever it is Kane wants them to do? When the heros reach Darkwood, Mal and Grelch can be more personally involved but for the first chapter distance is a big issue. Feel free to have him be whatever you like (if you agree to do it), a goblin cheiftan, necromancer (an idea I like), evil noble or anything you want.
Theao, Bishops really arent supposed to have kids (that doesnt mean that your bishop doesnt though, so your post is fine... the daughter could be illegit.). As for titles, the standard names apply- duke count ect. Your post was fine, I love your char- the playboy/theif concept is a good one.

I'm sure a way could come up eventually lol.
But, I wouldn't mind making a new character, perhaps something to do with that captive elf character caged in Mal's cellar.
LoL give me a few days to come up with something. Perhaps a 'trickster' kind of person who enjoys annoying the heroes without really killing them? Perhaps using several of Grelch's automatons to give them a fight once in a while, or even Hers or Mal's necromatic minions?
But would it be possible for her to be somewhat of a necromancer/sorceress?
Nothing too powerful, annoying spells, a few real bangers, and definately, some good looks lol.
Old Atlantia
09-09-2006, 00:02
That is fine with me... in fact if you want to be a female necromancer you fit into the plot I have planned out nicely.
*SPOLIERS, Heros do not read please*
I'm going to post Kane travelling through a small village, called "Eloh," on the edge of the baronies, one that the heroes will eventually travel through. This village is ruled by a ruthless but beautiful mayor and her little gang of thugs. Kane will travel through, and gather a crowd around him as he does some magic, and eventually card tricks. She will fall under Kane's hypnotic spell as he preforms his parlor tricks, and fall in "love" (or loony obsession...) with him. When it is her turn to pick a card (any card) she will pick the Queen of Hearts. He tells her that if she wants him to come back and be her King, she must preform a "little task."- namely killing our heroes when they travel through town. To this end he gives her a chunk of Warpstone, the King of Hearts card, and leaves town. When our heroes travel through, Eloh will be a hell hole. The "Red Queen," has beheaded many of the locals and stuck their heads on pikes- others, infected with Warpstone energy, follow her blindly and attack the heroes. The Red Queen herself will become something of a sorceress/necromancer because of the warpstone she possesses.
*SPOLIERS END*
OA, how common are trolls in the baronies/are they hunted down outside of the witchwoods?
Old Atlantia
09-09-2006, 00:36
Trolls and ogres can be found in the Territories- though not as numerous or as murderous as there Darkwood cousins. Occasionally a troll will cross into the Baronies to attack a fringe community... but since the Baronies are mostly hilly prairieland there is no where for them to den so they are not frequent. They, along with all monsters, do attack the Barony towns that border Darkwood more frequently- since they can retreat into the forest. And yes, they are hunted.

***********************
Name: Alexandria Beauregarde (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/Blastit52/Clash%20of%20the%20Gods/appraiser_elf_girl.jpg)
Race: Elf
Age: Looks 20
Physical Description: Golden yellow eyes, blue hair, pointed ears, perfect shape. Pointy ears...my kind of girl lol.
Weapons: Magic, minions, scimitar.
Skills/Spells: Many of em! Elementals, kinitic/psychic, necromacy, raising dead, curses (mostly along the lines of annoying/prankish), phasing/short distance teleportation.
Bio:
Alexandria is one of the few elves in the Baronies and one of the only governing ones at that too.
The elven mayor of Eloh is a beautiful girl still in her young years (as far as elves are concerned) and has enjoyed the attention she gets from the local men. She, however, has not even let herself be touched by any, believing them all inferior to her...making her all the more enticing to single men, or married even.
And she is definately not the best of mayors, being ruthless, selfish, and dislikes the idea of bringing a man or woman to court. She would rather have those accused, executed as efficiently as possible. She has been known to tax the people heavily, just to use the treasury money for her own purposes.
Alexandria is and has been a trickster for all her life. She enjoys the humiliation of others and has been known to set up rather dangerous pranks on people, random or known.
As an only child, her parents had her well educated in some of the finest schools Haven had to offer, and she excelled in most of them, even though she has a knack of not showing it at times.
But after her parents died, she delved into more of the darker arts, ones her parents had forbidden her to use, not with the intention of raising her parents, as one would expect, but rather for the devilish pranks it had to offer. But as she first picked up the heavy tome of necromacy, she realized she could do so much more. Already, she was somewhat of a powerful wizard, but the image of thousands of undead warriors fighting for her and her alone intrigued her greatly.
Every day, she would spend several hours alone, reading, studying, and testing out these powers with the hopes of one day becoming the greatest sorceress that ever lived.

Can I be a High Elf who is called such as he is a noble o the High House Velim, but by the way are elves immortal, in a sense, or can they use their magics to extend their lives to unnatural life spans?
I am assuming that Venisar is immortal... but perhaps I am wrong.
I'm pretty sure elves are allowed to be ageless but not immortal. I could be wrong thought.

Elves do not age like normal humans in this RP, they can live for millenia but will eventually fade out of existance. There are so few elves on the earth b/c they wiped each other out in a huge war long ago using warpstone and have beeen out bred by humans.
Scandinavians, I'm afraid House Velim has disappeared from Haven centuries before this RP, all that's left of its members are goblins, vampires, ghosts.

Alright, then can I be a ‘High’ Elf that believes that all non-elves should either be destroyed or be servants of a new elf empire established where the pure elves serve as the ruling elite and the commanders of the amry?
Old Atlantia

Yes, and your char is free to admire the ambitions of House Velim. Obviously, your character would have to be a villain, given his Hitleresque attitude, and not part of the heroes' party. I would like to make a few suggestions before you make your bio:
Please have your character have a following in Delain's Elven community, and please have his beliefs be kept secret from the athorities.
(Much later in the RP) Your character, and his followers, are going to be lured North by the main villain where he will arm you with rather unique weaponry and send you south to attack Avera.
Please have your char be accepting of Vampires and goblins, since they are the remnants of House Velim.

Yet, as for goblins what about he treat them as low creatures only fit for battle and not as equals, but as for vampires what about he hold them in higher regard and treat them with respect and seek to make them a power in the new eleven Empire?
Old Atlantia

I dont care if you want to enslave humans or destroy them. Vampires, at least elvish ones, he would probably treat with respect while goblins he can pity- since they were elves once too.

no prob.
@Theao: If Deo often gets caught, and in fact was just captured in his most recent attempt, why does he think he can escape from a room of 'heroes,' royal guards, and thugs?
Also, why does he think the offer is not worth it? He would be getting pardoned as well as a huge amount of money... if I remember correctly, Hawthorn said it was enough to buy half of Delain... that seems like a bit of change.
He get's caught because he get's distracted by females, not because of a lack of skill. ALso the original offer didn't mention a pardon, just 10k drakes. That and money's not really important to him(beyond a way of keeping score so to speak), he's more interested in the kisses.

@ Old Atlantia: I intended for Lief to be a South Baronian, but stop refferring to him as being a barbarian. He does have an education fit for a baron, so even if Jack calls him a barbarian, he should know enough to recognize Lief's intelligence. Also, I thought that he and Hawthorne were close friends, or at least, well acquainted colleagues that had worked together on a number of jobs. For your reference, pyromancers, especially ones that carry big flaming silver swords made in divine smithies, generally are sworn to poverty and charity, but Lieffreid can request money for others, like say, an orphanage be established with a new cathedral in the charter currently being drawn up for one parish or another and ensure that said orphanage is never to be closed down.
He speaks like a barbarian or dwarf... ;)
Old Atlantia
10-09-2006, 02:02
@KAG, Jack calling Leif demeaning names is meant to be friendly teasing, not contempt. Sorry if that's not clear. I know they go way back, and when Jack dies (yes, he will die... but when? that's the mystery) he will ask Leif to lead the expedition. Jack respects Leif greatly, even though he thinks he's odd.
@ all, what do you think of Jack and Kane as characters so far? What can I do to improve? It's been awhile since I last RPed seriously
Aye, you and they be doing fine. However, I think Jack needs a little character.

I dont care if you want to enslave humans or destroy them. Vampires, at least elvish ones, he would probably treat with respect while goblins he can pity- since they were elves once too.Alright then, here is my template.
Name: Lord Eldascar Eliadmire
Height: 6’7”
Age: 1012 Years Old, About in the late 20s/physically due to the elven life span and using his own magic abilities to prolong his life.
Weight: 210 Pounds
Eye Color: Piercing Light Sapphire Blue Eyes
Hair Color: Silver Blonde Hair
Weapons: Recurved Blade, Elven Long Bow, and a Knife
Skills: Magics. Melee Combat, Ranged Combat, Alchemy, Public Speech, Riding Horse, Military Leadership, Siege, Battle Command, Morale Boasting, Politics, the Arcane and Occult, and language.
Spells: Goblin Mind Ensnare, Mind Reading, Flame Bombardment (basically an attack of a hanful of small fire balls), Healing, Ice Shatter, Flame Hands, Lightning Arrows, Corrupting Touch, Holy Hand, and a few smaller more utilitarian spells useful for starting things such as campfires, cleaning, and cooking.
Bio: Born into a noble family that had support the extermination of mankind during the elven civil war many years ago they had resulted in the extermination of two thirds of their house in the battles and the conflict. Their weakened house fled to Delain where they hid their past and did not openly preach a new war against humanity.
So for many long generations they lay hidden regrouping their house and building a strong loyal following in the elves of their new home. In that time the leadership of their house passed to a new elf every generation who were taught all their past and were given the ancient despise of humanity and of ‘lower’ elves who did not share their beliefs. This continued until a elf as if out the years before the great civil. This elf was Eldascar who was gifted in all magical arts, leadership, and combat arts this led to him being named the elf who would restore the empire of old and thus was treated with great respect by all his house and their followers and was raised with the goal of reviving the old elven empires.
To help on his mission he was sent to the remaining high elven houses scattered throughout the lands and he was trained well by them and learned all the arts of the old empire. As well, after that he spent many hundreds of years alone training himself and going throughout the world to the old elven ruins learning what he could from them and uncovering many ancient secrets long forgotten, but he also spent much time befriending those creatures of the night and gaining the service of goblins to fight for him when the time came for the war of restoration. And as for the last hundred years he has begun to secretly build an army of like minded elves to serve him n the future.

Your char's abilities are a bit godmoddish, perhaps you should stick to simply being a warrior, or simply being a mage. You can be a mix, but his understanding of magic should be reduced a bit.
Aye, I felt the same way. Especially when you put 'etc.' at the end of Spells... it kind makes it seem like he can know any spell and thus is omnipotent.
The Scandinvans
10-09-2006, 03:38
Alright, I cut my spells down to combat spells.
Old Atlantia
10-09-2006, 03:40

Old Atlantia
10-09-2006, 03:53
We'll see how the RP plays out...
Also I'd like a level of clarity in the writing of this RP
saying: "then can he in the end be redeemed in the end" is redundant and difficult to understand. please be careful of this tendency, Scandinvans. I dont want to sound mean, or for you to leave the RP- b/c you have good ideas- but I would like you to be a bit more careful in your writing.
The Scandinvans
10-09-2006, 04:11

He's your char. it's up to you. That makes sense, since Kane will have lied to him all along.
Mind if I control(and name) one or more of the royal princesses?
Also don't mean to nit-pick but it's ie rather than ei for thief.
Also any objections to having Karina/Blarg starting to do stuff?

He's your char. it's up to you. That makes sense, since Kane will have lied to him all along. Thanks, but he is really more into the fighting due to rebuilding the ancient elven empire and for his stance on perserving the pure blood of the elven race and looks down on other races, most so on half breeds.

@Theao I'd rather you wait till Kane passes through Darkwood and contacts her (he will, very soon) before Karina does anything.
Feel free to name princesses, describe the castle, w/e.
Sorry about the mixed up spelling, I'm a horrible typist and often get my metters lixed up.
@Scand.
Right, I understand his motivations. Kane is deceitful and manipulative, and will thus trick the elf into furthering his ends, though the elf thinks he's doing what is right.
Also don't mean to nit-pick but it's ie rather than ei for thief.
How can you say you don't mean to nit-pick when you are intentionally nit-picking? :p

As of where to start, OA will have to tell you ;)

As Eldascar and his entourage were going through the city a High Elf, who was of lower nobility, who was a member of a their group who had yet to prove his loyalty to the group was sent a to a market area of Delain. There he stood up on a box and said to a crowd of many mixed peoples ranging from humans, elves, and half-elves and said in a loud voice,” My fellow elves the time for the arising of our people is coming and I have come to tell you of many things. All true elves most rise up against the lower races and half breeds of this world and either destroy them or make our servants. From there we shall be led by our leaders to recreate the elven empires of old and restore the glory of our race of old and we shall again rule the world.”Pardon, for a second do you want to send a guard to arrest for encouraging violence or do you want a small riot:D to break out by either other members of his group or regular persons attempting to subdue him for his hate speech?

Weapons: Greatsword, Bow and Arrows
Skills/Spells:Moderate with Horsemanship, Markmenship, and with his sword.

Growing up in "territories" his family was under constant attack. His family was murdered one night by goblins, while Largo was out wandering the plains. For weeks Largo wandered the plains, then finally passed out. He awoke to find himself in a hut. A man had taken him in named Matteo. Matteo used to be a knight back in Delain, but ran to the territories the day after his wife was mudered. Becoming a friend with Matteo, Largo was chosen to become the squire of Matteo. Over the next ten years Largo was trained. When Matteo was on the way to village he was killed by the goblins. Largo found Matteo, who was barely alive, Matteo told Largo that he thought of Largo as a son. Also that he had finally become a knight. Angry grew inside of Largo. Going back to the Matteo's hut he grabbed his greatsword and rode out on a horse to find the goblins. Finding the goblin's village he killed every single one, and then burned the village to the ground. Largo became a well known hero in those part of the Territories, but his family and Matteo's death still haunt him. Largo has made a agreement with himself that he would do anything to fight evil.

Hey, I'm back (for now at least)... school and the workload has (and will continue to be) a bitch. No time at all to do anything except work and sleep for six hours. I'm going to try to catch up as soon as I can and I will post shortly after that (be it tonight - not likely - or tomorrow).
Good to see you back Tanara. Coincidentally, a friend fractured his pelvis about two weeks ago. Hope you heal quickly...

@Tanara, welcome back! I hope you're feeling a bit better at least. If you'd please read up IC on what has happened that'd be fine... I'm sure we could fit you in. Since you were in the hospital I had your char go on a special assignment from the Cardinal that required her skills, I have nothing in mind as to waht that assignment was, lol, but I'm sure you and I can come up with something. Suggestions?
@DMG: There's no rush to get this RP over, and my workload's been nuts too so no worries. Post when you can, so that the thread doesnt die, and I'll stay happy.
@Osteia: I'm afraid this thread is closed, but read along please! I'll try and fit your char in enxt chapter. You can even post a bio here if you like.

Good to have you back Tanara.
Oh, and my workload has just been increased substantially, so I'm putting in a heads up that I'll post when I can, just not as much as I have been doing. But you have my solemn word that I shall do my best to not let the thread die.
Aye, I will post tomorrow.
So long as we post once in a while (when we can) it should be fine.
Suggestions...Perhaps Kane has a relic in his possession ( doesn't know what it really is, considers it just a baubbel/ pretty toy ) that the Cardinal needs retrieved by a Shri'vaur ( as only one can keep from being influenced by it or keep it from activating - something along those lines ) and she has been given special instructions as to what it looks like and does and is now free to join the rest of the hunting party?

Great suggestion Tanara, have Victrix ride up and meet the party at any point than. I'll figure out and tell you what the device is exactly later.
Hehe... me see something for Deo to do... :p

Does it involve the pilfering of some object, which needs require not to be named?

I think if I were Deo, I'd do what I think your thinking, and I'd dance. And laugh.
And then run, because I can see something that involves fire running after me
We are talking about the female elf... right?

Blastit, I havent forgotten you. Please post the following (only Blastit highlight pls) :
Have Mal wandering the enormous underground city w/o Kane or Grelch. He can be doing w/e you want, but remember there are lots of weird mutants, bodies, old weaponry, and the like down there. The Cra'yvan had a massive civil war in their city before they completely collapsed as a race, and the wreckage should reflect that. Warpstone weaponry would be similar to fantasy laser guns- describe them as you want to. Grelch should be busy with automations repairing an old pipe and several gears in a tunnel under the city. He would not know why. thanks, and sorry for not posting, Ive been crazy/busy.
Is Kane going to be heading to the Witchwoods soon now that he's got Blast's vampire(forgot the name) to the cave/whatever it is?

In the square the High Elves now began to kill people using their recurved swords which forced Eldascar to flee with his entourage knowing now that they may well be arrested just for being at the seen of the crime and now decided to go to a house of a member of their group to stay low for a while. In the meantime the High Elf that had spoken ordered for the other elves of their group to begin to kill everyone in the square. Please respond as I am getting lonely.

@Scandinvans, please continue to post about your chars revolutionary activities in Delain- however you will have to wait a bit before you get involved with the other chars- good or evil. Sorry, but Im trying to make a good story and your char, while an interesting late-game plotline, does not have much to do with the quests begining

Name: Adelpa Wynn
Race: Sylvan (think human+plant or like a wood nymph)
Age: 19 Sylvan Years or 40ish regular years
Physical Description: Best explained with a picture (http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e246/WingCommanderVC/Nymph.jpg)
Weapons: Bristles, and a bow.
Spells: Can control plants and their growth.
Bio: One of the last of her kind, Adelpha has descended from the Witchwood to live amongst men. She has been received only with bigotry and mistreatment, often treated as sub human, and more of an oddity. When she heard the offer of the king and the chance to prove that she was worth something, she jumped on it.

Regenius, you may join, but you'll have to wait a bit before posting. Our heros will in the relatively near future be travelling through the massive pine forests of the Territories... your char can meet us there. She will have her own reasons, namely revenge against Kane his warpstone which has... well warped Darkwood and witchwood. That sound good? Or perhaps Aradia, Tanara's character, could magically summon the Sylvan to aid them?
Regenius
22-09-2006, 04:25
Sounds fantastic. Summoning would be ok, but it makes my char seem subordinate, ya know?
Old Atlantia
22-09-2006, 04:26
True, but you'd get involved sooner. Your char would have a mind of her own once she was summoned.
Maybe it is more of a 'requesting' than a summoning... if you know what I mean.

Or provided she isn't a goody-goody like Hawthorn and his band(Deo excluded), perhaps she could meet and decided to work for Karina.

Theao, I assume she is a hero....
I like DMG's suggestion though, requesting the aid of mother earth sounds elvish enough to me...

Ah, my view of her alignment is 'Whatever it takes to safeguard my woods' type over 'Good'. It would make sense to ally with the good guys because they want to whack Kane, who's harming trees, but Karina is while not totally pro-nature, she isn't anti-nature like Kane seems to be.
Old Atlantia
22-09-2006, 04:38
a valid point...
Aye, but if the goodies (i.e. Aradia) requested her aid, she would be even more likely to help...

@Tanara... pls have Kane appear in a dream to Aradia. He should look like he did when he went to Eloh- a good looking, good humored travelling magician. The content, and what he says/does, is up to you. I think he would be trying to scare Aradia though, not recruit her.
@Theao and KAG: Have Kane appear to Deo and to Leif in a dream; have him appear in a black hooded cloak. Kane would be trying to tempt Deo + Leif to join him and kill Hawthorn. What he says/does/promises is up to you. Note: they would be seperate dreams for each character, so feel free to make up your own dream.
@ Venisar: Have a raven sit in a tree opposite Venisar and stare at him. Eventually the elf will fall into a daze from looking too long at the evil bird and have a vision of the impending war- general nightmare war stuff: goblins and mutants killing innocents, burning villages, ect ect. Have the vision/dream end with Kane's laughter...
@Everyone: Notes on Kane for your dreams: he is insane, nuts, overtherainbow crazy- but he is also very smart, sexy, convincing, scary ect. Soooo he would laugh alot, often at his own jokes and often at nothing. Feel free to have him do/say w/e in your dreams, and remember that what happens in your dream (IE where the dream takes place) is also up to you- have fun.
How much would Kane offer?
Old Atlantia
25-09-2006, 02:16
Anything and everything Deo wants (Kane is a liar, but a skilled liar). Have Deo ally with him if you like, but please dont act hostile to the party immediately... have him bide his time and gain their trust, then betray them. In fact, that's an interesting subplot-Deo's conflicted emotions.... join Kane and power or Hawthorn and righteousness? Anyway, w/e happens is your choice, that's just a suggestion.

So he'd offer anything Deo asked for?
And all he'd wish was for Deo to kill Hawthorn sometime later on?
