What Once Was OOC Thread

Ok, this thread has become a requirement it seems. For one I absolutely abhorre seeing OOC posts in IC threads, it just annoys me and I think it hurts the flow of the thread. Two, I think I need to elaborate on some things before I go on; my mistake, sorry. I didn't mean for things to get as tense as they have on IRC, in fact I didn't want things to be tense at all. That was one of the factors in my choosing Neptune: it is not Mars, it is relatively well inhabited with semi-active nations, but without the trigger happiness.

However, I guess the onus is on me to do more research than I did on the subject, for if I did I might have realized that Neptune is apparently more xenophobic than is Mars. So a reaction such as when Khrrck probed in is probably typical.

I also should have mentioned participation is 100% optional(duh?); no one has to acknowledge it, no one has to touch it, no one has to pretend it exists. Fractal reality or whatever, I won't force my idea of fun on anyone. I should have said this somewhere, I really should have: because then maybe people would have been less zealous ith the gunnery, appropriate IC response or not. Two, it would have made me come off as less of a dick, as I probably did in the IRC room tonight. As I said in the opening paragraph: I'm not trying to be a dick, and I am sorry if I came off that way.

Three, this is suppossed to be a character dirven story with some sort of tangible meaning to it, even if the only ones who realize it are the characters from the respective players who choose to get involved. I want to avoid all things wank, all things national space navy, all things military and political, I just want this thing to be character driven. Characters I can connect with, characters are not boring pieces of fictional technology; they make an emotional connection with the reader when executed correctly, which is all that matters to the story. Not saying this will be the best story ever mind: I'm still new to story creation and sometimes things don't work out and look less spectacular after being fleshed out than they did in the planning stages, but regardless my motivation was to avoid any unneeded conflict and wankery.

So please understand that when I see the same exact bullshit that I am trying so hard to avoid, that accompanies -every- incident I've ever had the unfortune luck to see. There's the passive threats of war, of being able to annihilate the other without expending any effort, and the prickish attitudes inherent in anyone intelligent enough to use an IRC program. So if I appear to aggitated, well I am. If I appear to be a dick, again for the third time sorry, that I am not, at least I am trying not to be.

A quick note: anyone can hear the signal, Raem heard it from the other side of the galaxy, so if you don't want to send a ship to see it, you can still have one character waltz in and be teleported away just like Raem and Vegana.

I just want to have some fun damn it, I don't want to deal with space ship fleets and national impersonal politics. So please, can we all try to avoid that? Please? Now I have to sleep, it's 2 AM and I feel sick.

I'm pretty sure one of these are needed.

I have set up some demands from my part to make this work. When I asked Joranhor about the story I told him it sounded a bit too fantasy for me but I would tag along anyway for the chance of some character RP. But he had to promise me that there would be No elves in my team.

The reason for this is simple. The RP would be rather short, especially for my team.

I brought out my Inquisitor from the webways because he would fit into a party and wouldn't create too much of a mess. I used the webways because frankly, to try to get into Neptune by a ship is as easy as trying to get some showering gel and a pair of scissors in a handbag through Heathrow airport at the moment.

For all those who doesn't know what an inquisitor is here goes:

I base my nation vaguely on WH40K with an emperor and all, but it is fundamentally christian and instead of Chaos we have the Nephilim. This is the way it has been for more than 3 years RT.

An inquisitor is mainly an individual who has been bred to fight the nephilim and genetically enhanced to perform that well. On top of all the steroids, training and drugs used to create the perfect warrior they add vigorous religious education. Basically since they are bred and brainwashed into this role they would never even think about cooperating with the enemy. That would be as unthinkable to do as for a zealous priest to cooperate with the devil. It would end in tears.

Now in a group of other humans and actually even to some degrees not so human, he will still be the odd man out. But he will add to a character RP. He just wants to go home after spending an eternity in the Webways.

I think the idea of the RP might be fun, even if the location maybe was not the best chosen. But lets try and get this interesting and leave all the Steel penises at home.

Ok uh, sorry: I was at Ole Miss for my school Speech and Debate team, and fell off the map for a few... days. But I am working on a / 'the!' post as of right now, though it might not be up till later tonight.
