From Chrono comes to Sol (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=494358)

OOC To welcome Chrono to Sol, the following is one of many such works released by the Yvresse government in a information campaign. I might do a few others, to repersent different medias being looked into. This can viewed as being released to academia and religious institutions as far and wide as possible. To academia it is released in the form of a journal article, to religious institutions a letter addressed to the most relevant person.

On the Ruinous Powers:- Knowing the Faces of Disorder.
By Urgelolar Melkan’Desorar

Released for general perusal by the Farseer Council of Tor Yvresse

Foreword

In the face of the arrival of agents of the ruinous powers within the sector of space known to it’s local inhabitants as Sol, the council found it necessary to aid others in understanding the faces of disorder and Chaos. Amongst many of the treatises they considered for release was my own work. Written originally in my youth and first tentative steps upon the path I currently still walk to this day, it is a far from complete work. Still I am proud that it should be considered worthy of release to agencies outside of my home. In presenting this second edition I have strove only to correct factual errors, on my part, and to make it more open to cultures outside of my own.

My thanks to the assistance of the Xeno’s Studies department for their aid in producing this second edition. Lastly a note to my readers, the information contained within this work is by necessity far from complete. When dealing with the Ruinous Powers sometimes knowledge is more dangerous than ignorance.

Part One:-Introductions.

In the Cosmology of the keigh as we know it, the Ruinous Powers number four. A common mistake is made in examining the Four. The newcomer sees the open face and looks no deeper, the count of those fooled by the claims of Khorne as Lord of War, for example, are without Number. This false hood is a common theme in the Ruinous powers and one we would do well to remember in understanding the face of our foe, always remember the truth is hidden behind the public mask.

Khone Is not Lord of war, of battle for these things are too ordered for Khorne. War and Battle may provide him some sustenance some satisfaction but it does not please him, it provides little more than survival fare. Khorne is lord of slaughter, of Murder and Blood. His followers are not soldiers they are murderers. Death is what they worship, any death. When Khornates lose they will turn on each other to fuel their god’s hunger. There have been recorded incidents of entire regiments standing in parade formation the front line stepping forward turning to form a new group and the new front line of their old formation being given the order to open fire upon their former comrades before they too do the same thing, stepping forwards to take their place on the bodies of the recently departed… A pattern that repeats until all are dead.

An unpleasant truth, then, all the powers hide the truth of what they are. Ah you cry what of Nurgle, surely the god of disease cannot hide the horror of his existence from the universe. He states what he is… If my rule fails here, then surely I am wrong elsewhere. Consider then this, Nurgle is not Lord of disease, that is merely his tool. Nurgle is the Lord of entropy and decay, he claims the eventual heat death of the universe as the moment of his ultimate victory. Again the horror of Nurgle is masked, it’s eventual dream is a cold dead universe where no life can be sustained where all has decayed and faded, and nothing stirs. Nurgle is emptiness.

Part Two:- The Follower’s of the Ruinous powers.

What then of those that follow the forces of disorder, they may worship beings of complete darkness and evil but does that make them so. Perhaps they are simply mistaken and misled, what draws a person to such an existence after all?

The ruinous powers are the powers of corruption, their faiths do not approach openly, they do not show you the truth openly, rather they show it to you in small increments. First comes the rare exotic drink, the secret society that promises power, then the drugs, or the rare thrill of danger. Eventually the web has ensnared each step a small one, easily taken before leading you to the next. They are patient. At some point comes a moment of choice, when it is feels too late to turn away.

After this point comes the madness, where the mind is twisted away from any rational state of being, where the worship of the dark being becomes the focus of the soul, and the will. How else can one explain the followers of Slaanesh laughing as arms are blown of, screaming ecstatic glee when their bodies are ripped asunder, all the while begging for more. This is the insidious truth of Chaos, when it has finished with you, no part of your original nature remains, you are emptied of your self, and refilled with destruction and pain. You exist simply to fulfil the need of the being you worship. Your wishes are secondly to it’s goals, worse still, you have long since forgotten what your goals where.
