World Cup Introduction:

For more information on the World Cup, its History, how it works, who runs it, and the competitions related to it, check out the World Cup Wiki Site (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/World_Cup).

The NSWC is a tournament for any NS nation who signs up. This World Cup is about to start its 31th competition, and your nation can take part! Every team is given a rank based on their performances in previous Cups, and the starting rank is roughly 200 (the Current 'best team in the world' is Starblaydia, with a rank of 1) See: KPB Rankings (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/KPB_ranking_system)

Scores are generated using either a Java program or through various or MS Excel sheet 'scorinators' which use random numbers, weighted by ranking and RP bonus to produce the scores.

It is encouraged for Nations to RP - roleplay - their matches, team rosters, players and such. Good RPs will help raise your chance of winning (especially in the Baptism of Fire and Colony Cup). Please note: A lot of RPs does not guarantee goals or wins, but your chances are improved or this happening. i.e. Two debutant, Rank 200, nations play each other. One has RP'd a few times, the other has not. The nation who has participated should have the better probability of victory, but still has a chance of a Win, Loss or Draw.

RPs can be Team Roster announcements, fan comments, press conferences, media stories, anything about the game, as long as you've kept to the score as posted or TGd to you by the host/scorer.

If this is your first Cup, please indicate whether you wish to be registered for the Baptism of Fire or not.


Puppets have to post with their nation and identify their master. One Puppet per Master nation, and you may only enter a puppet once you have already competed in a World Cup'

I think Swilatia, judging by his posts in threads like the Women's WC Signups, meant that he wasn't signing up this time, not that you wouldn't be allowed to host the BoF. Particularly as Swilatia has about as much influence on the WCC, and with me in particular, as a small blue gnat called George who lives in Malaysia.

Baz is right, that the BoF hosts are usually appointed by the President: i.e. me.

So far Baz and Rorysville and now LE/Milch have offered to host. If LE doesn't think his WC bid will get very far, then I don't have any confidence in your BoF bid being particularly good, either.

So I'll appoint Bazalonia as host of this Baptism of Fire and, Rorysville, if you'd like to co-host with Baz on this one I'm sure he won't mind. After all 8 whole teams must be a long-winded job to scorinate ;)

Spindomia is in for its 3rd entry. We only lost 1-0 to Starblaydia last time...

Also due to the unusually small number of teams there will also be changes to the standard format.

With 6 or 7 BoF teams the format will be:

1 group neutral matches in Bazalonia (1 leg)
The top 4 will go straight into the Semi's (with 3rd place play off)

With 8-15 BoF teams the format will be:

2 groups, neutral matches in Bazalonia (1 leg)
The top 4 will go into the Quarter finals (with 3rd Place Play off)

With 16+ BoF teams the format will be:

4 groups (2 groups in Bazalonia & 2 groups in co-host), neutral matches
The top 4 will go into regional Quarter finals (regional being brackets of each host) The winner each region will face the other regional winner and the losers of the regional final will face each other in a 3rd place play off.

I actually did say I wanted my country to join the BoF.

Also.. As a generic point of housekeeping. BoF signups will stay open for 3 days after the WC30 final has been completed. At this post Signups will close and the appropriate roster/RP/Scores thread will be created by myself.

Contestants in the BoF will have 3 more days to post a roster and any initial RP they might want to before scores start being generated and posted. Thanks.

Confirming Intention to join the BoF will do for now. About 3 days from now I will close the Signup for the BoF and will also link to rhe Roster/RP/Score Thread for the BoF.

That thread will contain information about who is face who and when, As well as stadiums in use for the tournament. This will be the thread will contain everything related specifically to the BoF however it is generally not a place for OOC discussion. That is for the WC Discussion thread (Link (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=293066&page=469)) however if you need to have a bit of OOC to explain an IC that's fine.

Also, BoF is much more RP reliant than the WC as that is only thing apart from random numbers that seperate the teams, where as in the WC there are also the KPB's to consider.
