OOC/signup thread for Ballad of Valerie. This RP is going to start out as a bounty hunt, but eventually turn into a survival RP against a zombie like situation. To join please ask for permission in this thread, we'll work out the details in here rather than in the IC thread.

It's a FT RP
Earth has been host of only poorest of the poor, buildings have not made much advancement from the year 2025.

Other those are the only constant details at the moment, I'll think of some more later.

I'm asking for the basics, spelling and grammar, good RP style, the sort.

I guess I should point out that I'm not only looking for bounty hunter types, I'm also looking for civilian types, and just about everything inbetween. I plan on having the bounty end up being on earth, so people could play characters that were too poverty stricken to leave earth, or there could be people that were wealthy business sorts looking for indentured servents on earth, or anything you can think of.

I'll bite. I'll post up a charachter tomorrow; too tired now, though.

Sure, if you'll be RP'ing in the slums of earth. The buildings you will be living will be ancient, and many of them will be rigged with IED's that were used in training missions for Nofian soldiers, least the area were the RP will take us.

Of course you could be an interested party about the bounty and just tagging along, in which case the bounty will be a scientist sort of person who who is conducting illegal research on the planet.

Thats all I can think of the top of my head, if you have anything specific bring it up.

If he had any interaction with Valerie, then you can't use her. Otherwise he's free game, although he would have to be fairly old, least if he was the one that was in FoaL. If anyone knew Valerie, or met her, even as a child, they would long be dead.

No, no. Usually I go for modernish to postmodernish tech RP's of my nation, but for this one, I wanted something completely different, so I decided to go FT with this one. In doing so, I get to really develop a certain character I made FT wise, and I get to develop Valerie as well.

My characters are mercenaries, and have been hired for this job to serve a special purpose. You are welcome to post in the IC thread whenever, but I request that the you meet the guy hiring the bounty in the bar where my characters are. I'll make an IC post soon to describe the guy who is hiring the bounty hunter.

An unknown, Ddienw is a special soldier raised by a mysterious group known to him only as “They”. He is the latest in a line of clones of the one “They” called Nemo. Ddienw is a quiet person, rarely showing emotion, if he shows emotion it was often moody.

Despite his obvious quietness, Ddienw is bright and talented at tracking.

That character will work, but how do you plan on using him? I'm just curious.

Hired to go after the bounty because of his tracking skills.

Name: Esdras Duperard

Eyes: White, with a slight shade of green
Skin: Greenish

Esdras has a background in Megan special forces, and become a bounty hunter after choosing not to renew his commission. He spent several years fighting in the Ultimate Challenge League, where his skills and prowess served to win him fame and fortune, until the underground bought off his supporters, and he was soon ejected from the sport. From there, he joined a rag-tag crew of privateers captained by a Torontonian. He served with them for many years, making many fortunes, and losing countless more to authorities in various countries, eventually becoming the second-in-command. After the crew was disbanded, he became a bounty hunter again, wandering across the galaxy in search of work.

I'll have my post up sometime soon, but probably not tonight.

Esdras wears a pair of black BDU's which are more of a gray color due to their age. The BDU's are made of a woven synthetic available only in Megas which provides him with limited protection from most small caliber projectiles and beam weaponry, and also physical attacks are buffered to some extent.

He has a rifle, an sidearm, and a HUD that are all contained in his rifle sling, which he usually wears over his right shoulder.

Osis heralds from a small tribe of nomads. He grew up as most did in the tribe, but took the religion to heart. As he grew to adylthood he became aware of the breaking of the holy laws almost daily by his people. One night, god spoke to him in a dream and told him what he must do. The next day he killed every other member of his tribe. He left the desert behind and traveled to the city, where he had the ancient texts of his people tattoed all across his back, arms, and the left side of his head, so that he would never forget the teachings. After some time it was discovered what he did and he was banished from the city. After bing cast back in the desert, he honed his ability to hunt in order to survive. Eventually he caught a caravan to another, farther away city. He has been a hunter ever since.

What are the limits on weapons if any? Can Ddienw have a zat'ni'katel?

I prefer if we stuck to projectile weapons, so assuming it is one, then he is more than welcome to use it. I just feel that the likely hood of creating a weapon that doesnt' fire a solid projectile is highly unlikely.

It's a weapon off Stargate, Val was shot by one in that 'Princes Coming Of Age' thread.

It shoots a type of energy, one shot stuns, the second kills.

A mysterious man, Eschaton is a very solitary and deadly figure; he rarely talks, even if directly addressed. A brilliant killer and a genious alchemist, he prefers to use subtle means of assassination; he carries a high-powered dart rifle tipped with his very own poisions. Depending on which poisions are used, the weapon is capable of instantly killing or paralyzing any living organism. He also uses poision-tipped needles for close range combat, and posesses a very large custom pistol, complete with improvised explosive ammunition. Eschaton usually wears a long brown overcoat and a pair of square sunglasses.

His origins are unknown; there are no records of his life before the age of 26, when he became a bounty hunter.

Sure. We have more than enough bounty hunters though, so I would suggest something like a civilian, or something a bit less focused. You could even be a nephew of the passed out man. If you go that path, his name is Jacob Lauber.

Name: Uni Sinclair
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Build: Average
Hair: Light Brown
Eyes: Blue
Skin: Lightly Tanned
Appearance: Clothes one size too large. Trousers rolled up all the way above the knees and pinned. Short hair, long enough to cover her ears and forehead. She has thin eyebrows, and a birthmark happens to be above her right one, hidden by the hair.

Uni Sinclair grew up around farm animals, understanding at a young age that they were all going to die and be eaten (the animals). She knows how to milk a cow, bath a pig, and shear a sheep.

Used to living alone on the farmstead apart from her brother, she lacks people skills, and often tell them directly the unfiltered truth, making her sticking out like a sore thumb. She feels awkward and clumsy in the enclosed space.

She loves food, especially pork sandwiches, yet doesn't seem to get fat from it, an ability admired by many. She has a simple mind and an aura of self-content. Some people feel unwell in her presence, but she dismisses it as something to worry about never.

Looks interesting. I have a perfect way to have you meet up with us. Assuming she is from a poor family, which seems very likely. We won't be able to actually land in NoF, since she will be living on Earth (assumed) she will be very likely to be chased by any number of things, bandits, gangs, anything, you could have her being chased, and bump into us shortly after we arrive on Earth.

I can also make her a niece of that drunk guy if you wish.

Lol, that's what I figured. I'm trying something new with Esdras, and I'm not exactly sure which way I'm going to develop his character, yet.

I found out I'm going to boot camp the first week of october, so before then lets get this RP rolling, and get some IC posts.

Robert got on Earth as an accident. He was hired to be a guard for a rich tourist who wanted to see the dregs of mankind, but things went wrong. Despite his extensive combat training and field experience, Robert, his fellow bodyguards and the crew of the ship they had taken failed to protect the ship and it was taken by a gang seeking to get off-world. Unfortunately, the ship crashed very shortly after takeoff.

With no way to contact anyone off-planet, they tried to make it in this new environnment. However, with only Robert having any sort of ability to survive in an hostile environment, first the rich man and then the rest of the group either died or went on their own way. As the last survivor, he made a home of sorts for himself in a ramshackle but serviceable house in the middle of a small community where no one asks any questions.

In the ways of clothing, he has done away with the utliities he had brought with him, instead falling back on civilian clothes. His preference runs towards cargo pants, a sweater or long-sleeved shirt, his own tactical vest and then a long, tough overcoat. His pistol is permanently strapped to his right thigh and his grossesmesser, or German-style long-knife, is at his left hip. His rifle, though, he always seems to keep close to hand. It is to note that his gear is extremely well-maintained, and because he uses common calibers, finding ammunition is not much of a problem and his house is well-provisionned.

Sounds fine, it is getting a bit crowded, but so long as you prove worthwhile you are welcome to join.

Why don't we have Robert meet up with Uni, and save her from...... whatever you decide. While they are leaving the community for reasons I'll leave up to you, why not run into our ship as it lands, which should be shortly.

I personally have never been fond of the first person narrative in an RP, but if you want to do it, I'm not going to stop you.

That may be because it's hard to control multiple characters in the first person, and often times I do so. Although if you'd rather do first person, I'll work with it.

I guess its quite problematic for the plot to keep switching from one person to third.

Yeah, sorry it took me so long to post. This past week has been very busy for in RL. So much so that I've got half the GFFA and the ESUS breathing down my neck waiting for me to post in those threads as well.
