Women's World Cup 3: Rosters/RP/Scores

Liverpool England
16-07-2006, 08:26
First, the technical side of things - up to two more teams can sign up (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=489669&page=2) for his cup.

Scorinator and Rankings:
NSFS, with styles of -5 to +5. Simple and easy to deal with. We'd be using the points from the rankings, rather than linear rankings.
Please indicate your playing style (-5 most defensive; +5 most attacking) when posting your roster.

Format, depending on whether we get the two more teams:
36 teams: 6 groups of 6. Top two from each group, plus best 4 third placed teams qualify.
38 teams: 5 groups of 6, 1 group of 8. Top two from each group qualify. All third placed teams, plus the 4th and 5th placed teams from the group of 8 (8 teams), playoff for the remaining 4 spots.

Important! RP bonus and such:
Per 150 words, or part thereof, earns you an additional 2.5% of your linear ranking to your points, to the second decimal (IE, lower-ranked teams get more RP bonus for the same amount of RP as a top-ranked team would get, as a 20th ranked team would get a 0.5 scorination point bonus, while the 1st ranked would earn just 0.03 (rounded up from 0.025), which in this case where the points are so closely packed, would mean RPs count much more). This is however not taking into account quality. Poor quality RPs (defined as anything that isn't coherent, incivil, or just obvious bitching - unless it is done ICly; dyslexia and grammar mistakes can be forgiven) will see a 15% deduction of your scorination points.

Roster RP bonus will be counted by quality.

I'm aiming for a July 18 group draw (IE, all signups closed by then), and hope to start by the 20th.
------------------------------------------------------------
Now, the RP side of the post:
"The host of the Third Women's World Cup will be.... Liverpool England!"

The crowd gathered at the FALE headquarters in Orean went wild. Liverpool England had, for only the fourth time ever, been chosen to host a major football tournament (after a Baptism of Fire, a Cup of Harmony, and a World Cup), and it was the first time in over 25 years that the country would be hosting an international sporting event.

The FALE's bid had been submitted late. Indeed, it just barely met the deadline for bid submissions. By all standards, no one expected the bid to win. For all intents and purposes, the bid was submitted to see whether Liverpool England had the capacity to host another major international tournament ahead of a widely-publicised expected hosting bid for the 31st or 32nd World Cup.

The results were in. Liverpool England would indeed host.
Ariddia
16-07-2006, 12:08
The following is the squad announced for Ariddia's participation in World Cup 3:

GK: Cécile Granville (5)
DEF: Aurélie Lor (7); Awe Esh (15); Thérèse Chantier (10)
MID: Hanifah Kyaw (3, cpt); Wol Eosh (6); Jeanne Finnan (18); Uha Teh (13)
ATT: Michelle Dru (22); Najmah Majrashi (20); Nathalie Simon (12)

Substitutes:
GK: Grace Wesspring (23); Ila Ho (2)
DEF: Hazel Oqararu (16); Julie Bertrand (19); Kanika Gikenyi (11)
MID: Marjolaine Collins (4); Chloé al Safi (14); Heather Chuwong (8); Keshet Zandberg (17)
ATT: Lai Es (9); Tania Baszczynski (21); Adèle Nord (1)

The Dames en Rouge will be playing with a +4 style modifier.

You can hand out yellow cards to my players, and red if you really want to. You can RP injuries to them, as long as it's not severe enough to keep them out for more than a couple of games. Please do not choose my goalscorers, however.

As you should all already know, the Ariddians will perform the ulek (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ulek) at the start of every match.
Wentland

The Blue Tits are ready!!!!

Following a 4th placed finish in WC2 despite being totally unranked, the Wentland women's team is back in action for another tilt at the Women's World Cup. Playing in their familiar royal blue shirts, white shorts and royal blue socks, the Blue Tits will be hoping to go 3 better, although attention may be diverted by the forthcoming Festival and the Olympics.

1 Philippa "Foz" Forrester, goalie, 32, Atworth - being challenged for her number 1 spot by Sara Elgan, who had a magnificent World Cup

2 Rachel "Ken" Horne, right-back, 24, Newchurch - squad joker

3 Ellie "Hedge" Crisell, left-back, 25, Newchurch – most bizarre hair of the team

4 Pui "Po" Lee, midfield, 28, Vosburgh – just over 5 feet tall but boundless in energy

5 Lucinda "Sis" Rhodes, centre-half, 29, Warpstone – star of many a pin-up

6 Janet "Sink" St Clair, centre-half, 20, Oldhill – praeternaturally quiet and calm

7 Tricia "Frankie" Yates, midfield, 18, Oldhill – the most naturally talented squad member

8 Stacey "MBK" Cadman, midfield, 23, Warpstone – blonde bombshell

9 Thalia "Sham" Pellegrini, centre-forward, 23, Newchurch – advertises shampoo, whence her nickname; other members of squad delight in messing her hair

10 Gemma "Gem" Hunt, centre-forward, 24, Esford – highest jumper of the team

11 Anna "Skip" Kumble, midfield, 28, Oldfield – deadly from a dead ball

12 Sara "Dynamite" Elgan, goalie, 28, Oldfield – good things come in small packages,

13 Kate "Ratzo" Sanderson, right-back, 32, Oldfield – versatile in defence

14 Laura "LJ" Jones, centre-half, 29, Newchurch – stentorian

15 Heather "HJ" Jones, centre-half, 28, Warpstone – not related to LJ but very skilled for a centre-half, if not exactly robust

16 Lizzie "Norman" Greenwood, midfield, 28, Newchurch – nickname Norman because of her spiky hair (after Spiny Norman)

17 Honey "Wednesday" Weeks, centre-forward, 30, Oxton – accidentally gave the Blue Tits their squad nickname following an over-exuberant goal celebration

18 Ellie "Goal Machine" Beavan, left-back, 23, Oxton – 128 games now for Oxton, no goals; the only goal she ever scored secured qualification for the Blue Tits to WC2 finals

19 Jemma "Double J" James, midfield, 24, Oxton – hitherto lacking impact at international level

20 Imelda "Meld" Davies, midfield, 19, Oldhill – little miss brutal

21 Mohini "The Moz" Sule, 24, centre-forward, Esford – graceful in attack

22 Rani "Killer" Khan, midfield, 26, Atworth – little miss brutal part 2

23 Anne "XXX" Foy, goalie, 26, Esford – from her xxxtreme sport activity, is Wentland's champion paraglider and street-sk8r

The B Team, a mixture of experience and youth, with the older hands bringing along the younger players. They have been numbered in solidarity with the main squad and are listed only in case the main team get lost on their way to Liverpool England or some such nonsense:

<EDIT> The B team has been sent off to Andossi Se Mitrin Vega and are here for reference only...</EDIT>

24 Kirsten Cassidy, g/k, 16, Oldhill

25 Jane Anderson, defender, 18, Westree

26 Conchita Quddus, defender, 22, Petersfield

27 Carol Leader, midfield, 35, Atworth

28 Zoe Pike, centre-half, 16, Petersfield

29 Chloe Ashcroft, centre-half, 38, Esford

30 Sally James, midfield, 39, Atworth (pioneer of women’s football)

31 Alison Bettles, forward, 16, Oldhill

32 Sonali Gold, forward, 16, Newchurch

33 Anna Boulter, 31, midfield, Oldfield

34 Debbie Flint, midfield, 37, Oldfield (Olympic speed-skater, almost devious in her ballplaying ability)

35 Katy Torpenhow, g/k, 33, Petersfield

36 Lynn D. Layton, utility, 16, Oldhill

37 Leigh Fraser, utility, 16, Oldhill

Other RPers can do what they like but don't kill them
General starting 11 is numbered 1-11, unless the B team is playing because the main team has got lost, in which case they are numbered 24-34
4-4-2 but attacking - modifier = +4, they've got a bit gung-ho following WC2

Style Modifier - -5. Oh yeah, it's defensive all the way!

Goalkeeper:
#1, Marie D'Ancanto - true, the season after WWCII wasn't exactly productive, what with being out for most of it with a broken leg, but the matches she did play she didn't look that bad in

Defenders:
#2, May Sydal - never ever say that being related to the boss gets you nowhere. After some poor performances in the league, her entry was a very, very big surprise that actually surprised few.
#3, Danica Kouerson - she of the stupid last name.
#4, Natalie Scott - if you ignore the shady background (whispers of something beginning with "F" and ending with "uck Orgy" can be heard if you listen close enough), she actually has very little to offer.
#5, Rebecca Quinn - having migrated to defence in light of the new tactics being played (i.e. do nothing for 89 minutes, then score in injury time), nobody has a clue how she's actually going to do
#6, Annie Maiden - apparently not even a player, just thrown in here because the scouting team couldn't be bothered to find someone competent.

Midfielders:
#7, Hector Francis - heeeeeeeeee's back, and he brought a friend!
#8, Jimmy Corn - heeeeeeeeeeee's the friend! Supports Hector's position on equal rights to the death, allegedly.
#9, Jenny Rai - blonde, bimbo.
#10, Lisa Varon - having spent the better part of last year meditating in a forest on the question "If a tree falls in the woods, does anybody actually care?", God only knows why she was picked

Strikers:
#11, Sara "Srar" Koivu - the starting striker, and indeed the only striker the female Psychos are packing. Hooray for Karela!

DEF - "Babs" Barb, 26, Barbie doll who tackles like Chuck Norris
DEF - Penny Gadget, 28, World Cup 30 player.
DEF - Chris Tuggarnong, 20, Junior Weightlifter turned soccer player. Can throw other players around just for fun.
DEF - Cicino Canabaro, 23, Master defender in the Italian sense - likes to act too.

MID - Shinita Habashi - 22, Buddhist Japanese girl who like to kick hearthen ass
MID - Anna Goldstein, 20 - Not the JGN reporter but her 6th cousin. Small and hard to catch
MID - Penny Handy, 32 - Handball expert is back as the eldest player. Will retired after this world cup. CAPTAIN
MID - Sassani Alba Fa Jihad, 20, plays everygame like it's holy war. Prone to red cards

STK - Dizzie Ohmed, 27 - Just the person you want to have on your side when someone needs tripping over to get a penalty for the team
STK - Sister Sarah, 30 - Catholic nun who plays soccer leading God's team to victory
STK - Penny Lane, 25 - Beatles fan and corner taker
STK - Sophie Olmat, 26, daughter of a diplomat. Played for fun and was so good, they made her permanent.

And Now, The Magnus Valerian Princesses

That's right, folks! The Emperor, Tsar Alexander III, has thoughtfully created a national women's team. However, their skill has yet to be proven, and the Tsar has not yet completed filling out the new, proposed Valerian Women's Football League. Even so, the most promising players have been brought onto the team, and there will be no doubt, troubles for the inexperienced team as they go on the world stage for a competition between women from other countries.

The defending runners-up, who "scored goals like they were going out of fashion" with an average of over 2.5 a game, are too lazy to post a good roster. So they will post this tidbit, and post good

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m133/IshtarIsland/SoccerBanner.jpg
The Most Serene Republic of the Island of Ishtar
Style Modifier: +2 (aggressive)
Formation: 4-4-2 Flat Back

Ishtar's first-ever Women's World Cup soccer team is made up of the best professional and collegiate soccer players from across the Serene Republic.

The team employs a highly-disciplined, 4-4-2 Flat Back formation, and an aggressive, attacking style centered on the attack by the sweeper, strikers, and the center midfielder.

They are nicknamed the Mermaids, after the national emblem of Ishtar. The players are very popular in their home country, and many of them have appeared in commercials, calendars, and television shows.

The whole country is excited about their entry into the Women's World Cup.

Head Coach: Miriam Westmoor, 38. A fiery redhead with an iron will, Ms. Westmoor is the foremost soccer coach in Ishtar.
Goalkeeper and Team Captain: #1 Anya Rasputina, 26. This tall, buxom Slavic woman is agile and quick on her feet. On the field, she is the captain and commands the defenses.
Stopper: #3 Freya Gottfried, 27 years old. This powerfully-built, muscular redhead is the strongest woman on the team. As the stopper she marks the other team's best forward and sticks to them tight.
Sweeper: #2 Keira Madchen, 24 years old. Don't let her busty figure and calendar modeling fool you, this blonde beauty's one of the best athletes in the country.
Left Defender: #8 Halabra St. Troix, 24 years old. A quiet, soft-spoken brunette with a good work ethic, she brings a balanced game to the field. She is married with three children.
Right Defender: #17 Raven Westmoor, 19 years old. A diminutive black-haired girl with a knack for stealing the ball, she is the coach's daughter.
Left Midfielder: #12 Marcia Mueller, 19 years old. She's a tough, hard-tackling blonde with great stamina and a wise-cracking manner.
Center Midfielder: #21 Sappho Jones, 22 years old. With a distinctive, punkish hairdo dyed a shocking green, this lean girl is fast and agile.
Center Midfielder: #11 Mandy Boatswain, 21 years old. A tireless sprinter and natural athlete, this woman is launching a new line of handbags this fall.
Right Midfielder: #4 Kasumi Miyamori , 18 years old. This Japanese girl is known for her post-game press conferences, as she almost always ends up in tears.
Left Striker: #6 Ayane Kamikawa, 21 years old. Another representative of Ishtar's Japanese community, she is stereotypically shy and polite.
Right Striker: #13 Eleana Romanoff, 19 years old. The fastest girl on the team and an adept ball-handler, she is the most potent scorer in Ishtarean football.

Reserve Defenders: #5 Svetlana Valdanov, #22 Natalie Whitechapel, #7 Dawn Valentine, #9 Nicole du Lyon
Reserve Midfielders: #10 Tracie Taylor, #14 Ingrid Goldfields, #15 Candy Carraway, #16 Astrid Rose
Reserve Strikers: #18 Kelly De Beers, #19 Maggie Brandywine
Emergency Keeper: #20 Cassie Woodridge

The Same roster as last time
Well we no longer have the suspense of what the roster is for the Milchama Attacker (nor with the nickname as we're the Attackers). Also the coach for the Attackers was revealed to the general international public, the coach was Milchama footballing legend Quin Temple who retired before the Warriors got to play internationally but was the all time leader in MFL goals before Marc J. Floren. The 45 year old Temple does not have much manager experience but has helped both Great Alexandria and the Norman Spartans on numerous occasions. The roster was unveiled to a small crowd as the rest didn't really care. As they are fairly anynomous there will not be biographies for many of the players. As they are called the Attackers they will play in the suicidal 0-0-10 formation which of course will be +5.

Montegrande

The Montegrande´s Lady Jaguars Roster
The Montegrande`s women national team, is in their first Women World Cup will try to make a good performance with their south american agressive and technical total football, not to mention that the fact of being a communist state infludes in the great physical preparation of the players in order to get a good place in the cup (in a country apassionated about football, the favorite game in Montegrande) , which would assure the government`s already high popularity. The local uniform of the Jaguars is red shirt, and black shorts and socks. The away uniform is white shirt, red shorts and white socks.
Formation:4-1-2-1-2
Style modifier: +5

Players

1- GK Millaray Gutiérrez (33 years old) - Libertad San Arturo: The experienced goalkeeper of the second team of Montegrande wishes to complete a good performance in her first and probably last world cup.
2- RB Miranda Escudero (22 years old) – Sierra Bonita FC: Young and fast, her offensive projection could be an important factor in the total football Montegrande will try to impose in this world cup.
6- CB Alejandra Torres (28 years old) – Vista Hermosa AC: The oldest member of the defense, has the obvius responsability of mantaining the order of the montegrandean last line.
22- CB Soledad Ramírez (19 years old) – Red Star Montegrande: Even when she is a sparkling young promise of the league champion, it is certainly risky having such a young defender, and she will try not to be a deception.
13- LB María Gracia López (23 years old) – Libertad San Arturo: Her technical skills and speed (even when she is a defender) are in concordance with the offensive tactics of the team.
4- CDM Trinidad Cuneo (34 years old) – Deportivo Teirepué : The old captain of the team has to combine her role as defensive midfielder with the task of serving the ball to the younger offensive members of the midfield, not mention her role as captain.
8- RM María de los Angeles Godoy (23 years old) – Red Star Montegrande: Smart, and technical, her ability for shooting free kicks and corners could be of great important, specially for tough, equilibrated games.
7- LM Lirayen Enríquez (22 years old) – Libertad San Arturo: Although not as skilly as her teammates, her great speed is what the team needs for rapid attacks.
10- CAM Graciela Belmar (18 years old) – Red Star Montegrande: May be the more gifted player of the team, and may be the symbol of the south american attack football Montegrande has to offer. Her ability charms all of her fans and her beauty attracts the men of the country.
9- RS Patricia González (29 years old) – Deportivo Che Guevara: Experienced and tall player. Even when she is slow and has little technique, her ability and experience near the goal could be decisive
12- LS Romina Glahn (19 years old) – Red Star Montegrande: Talented and speedy forward, forms with graciela Belmar the dynamic duo of the Red Star of Montegrande, and both of them hope to make explosion in the Championship.

Reserves
16- GK Antonieta Pavez (22 years old) – Defensor Montegrande : Young goalkeeper, is thought to be the sucessor of Millaray Gutiérrez in the goal.
15- D Emilia De los Ríos (20 years old) - Vista Hermosa AC: Young defense, had a good campaign in the local league and seems prepared if she has to enter to the field.
3- D Juana Estévez (32 years old) – Red Star Montegrande: Experienced player, may be useful if the defense doesn´t close well enough.
20- D Dámaris Reynoso (19 years old) – Defensor Montegrande: Young defense, had a good campaign with a small team.
5- M Eloísa Fernández (35 years old) – Red Star Montegrande: The oldest member of the time, may be her experience would be useful for difficult games.
28- M Gabriela Román (25 years old) – Alejandría FC: She is an alternative for right midfielder. Although she isn´t as skilled as María de los Angeles Godoy, she is great passing the ball with almost no mistakes.
19- M Sofía López Campos (17 years old) – Libertad San Arturo: Left midfielder, she is with Graciela Belmar and Romina Glahn one of the beautiful young talents who hope to surprise with ability and offensive football.
18- F Francisca Almeyda (21 years old) – Deportivo Maqueda: Young and strong forward. A good option for the starting forwards.
33- F Anastasia Gómez (28 years old) – Sierra Bonita FC: Another good (but not too technical) forward that could be a good option for a substitution.

Head Coach: Martina Suárez (47 years old): In her times as player she was the star defense of the Red Star Montegrande, and won 6 local tournaments in her career. Now as coach she wishes to complete a good debut of Montegrande in Women World Cups
Assitant Coach: Isidora San Pablo (29 years old): She is the promising young coach of Montegrande who wishes to add her new ideas to the experience of Martina Suárez in order to make the offensive style of the Jaguars as deadly as they can.

My players van receive yellow or red cards and be injured (but no deaths, close deaths or careers of young stars ended by the injury) and I wish to choose my scorers.

Dammit, dammit, dammit. Of all the teams to get in the group phase...

It was true. Groups 1 and 2 had had their second seeds drawn. It was either going to be Sarzonia for the Blue Tits, a tall order indeed, or...

"And the second seed for Group 3...WENTLAND."

Or the World Champions.

Extremely bloody hell.

Edwina Bluff sighed...the momentum from WC2 could all be gone for a burton if they did not make it through the group. Having said that, three unranked teams meant that it was not the most difficult group statistically, although Magnus Valerius - or should that be Magna Valeria? - had shown well enough in the men's game and their women might show a similar flair. Initial reports suggested they were going with an IV-III-III formation, a little old-fashioned but still serviceable.

The main concern was Spaam. The jinx team. Every time the men faced them it was humiliating defeat after humiliating defeat. Would it be different for the women, or more of the same?

Edwina could not help it. Who would the Blue Tits face in a play-off? Oh jeez, the Lowland Clans...or ASMV...maybe even the hosts themselves. Thank Zarquon we missed Group 1.

Edwina had had an idea though. The depth of the women’s game was still lacking and the annual world cups would soon tire the best players. So she was going to form a B international line-up; some of the experienced girls from WC1, like Flint, to go with some of the youth teamers. The likes of Cassidy and Bettles. They could play friendly matches and gain international experience that way. And, who knows, they might even be able to play a qualifying match proper, if the first team squad went missing or something. Which would never happen, of course.

Lady Raiders Ready

Womens World Cup???
Yes, that is the question most ESF citizens are asking themselves right now. The idea of a competition including only one sex does seem strange to those who reside in the ESF as all their competitions allow both sexes to participate equally. So it is now that for the first time in history that the ESC has assembled an all female squad. Many of the names will be familar to those who follow football inside the country, but their are a few suprises, even for the most devout fanatic.

Manager - Grace Casien
Assistant - Tamara Ofur

Goalies
1 Maria Sharas
Age - 1102
A veteran of the Hartdale Hawks, she stands tall in net and is ready to shoulder the burden of the team and try to lead them onto victory.

0 Pamelia Goodson
Age - 1032
Just out of the Footy Acedemy in Capri. Pamelia shows signs of a potential great career, but lacks any expierence beyon her first year in the Star League

Defenders
11 Liliam Kries
Age - 1243
A solid force in the back, who uses her great footwork and patience to frustrate strikers all throughout the match. Won Defender of the Year two years ago in the Premiership, becoming the first female to do so.

17 Ashley Walker
Age - 1219
Ashley is a talent through and through. She started her career as a striker and has moved her way back through the years due to an unfortunate knee injury during her prime. Though not as tough as she once was, she can still create magic off of set pieces and the occasional run.

4 Sarah Parker
Age - 1148
Sarah has been playing football for nearly a century and has earned a reputation as a crackdown ceterback both at home and abroad. She uses her unnatural hieght and muscle to bully strikers off the ball and clear it safely.

12 Allison Cooper
Age - 1079
People have a hard time finding Allison on the field, not because she isn't there, but because of how short she is. Yet her size is a deception as she is as quick as a cheetah which leaves many strikers wondering where she came from.

6 Brandy Hardsworth
Age - 737
Younger sister of Placibus, Brandy is as stout defender as her older brother. Still coming into her talent, she is one of those rare talents that just needs to blossom.

21 Gabriel Manderine
Age - 1254
Like Brandy, Gabriel is the sister of a Marauder, but she is as well known in the ESF as her brother. Her age is starting to get to her however and she finds herself coming off the bench despite her talent and reputation.

27 Samantha Iclen
Age - 1087
A good defender in her own right, she just lacks that spark that would get her a starting position. Yet the competition posed by her presence makes the starters work that much harder

Midfield
Marsha Stone
Age - 1143
No rest for the weary as Marsha is not taking time off following the regular world cup and instead is looking to the WWC with a passion. She is the midfield general and everyone on the team respects her play and personality as one, if not the, best on the team

Victoria Riot
Age - 31
Unlike everyone else on the team, Victoria is not an elf. After immigrating from Assegai, Victoria was placed on the Marauder and now Lady Raider roster because of her cousin who plays on the Assegai national team. During WC29 she proved her worth with a goal and assist, and is looking to make an offensive impact.

Christina Applegate
Age - 914
A youngster compared to most on the sqaud, Christina has been groomed to be a perfect holding midfielder. Her defencive awareness is increadable and so is her ability to free strikers.

Rosemary Redhorn
Age - 1039
Another holding midfielder for the squad. Having Rosemary start clearly shows the Raiders will be playing a defensive/counter game. Rosemary herself is decent, but can be shaky in pressure situations.

Daniel Yi
Age - 1100
A troubled player emotionally, but brilliant on the pitch. Clearly her multi personality disorder is the only reason why she is on the bench or else the foe would have one amazing talent to try to defend.

Amanda Young
Age - 1068
Your typical midfielder that is nothing special, but you know she will do her job game in, game out.

Gloria Rolich
Age - 1153
About the same as Amanda, but does possess a flare for the dramatics.

Forwards
Kyla Night (C)
Age - 1078
The "Devil's Kiss" looks to torment the WWC defenders much like she did WC defenders. Already the leading goal scorer in ESF history with 32 in 44 international appearances. She will likely be guarded by the best defender by the oppsition throughout the ESF' run.

Jennifer Sar
Age - 1302
She came out of retirment to help the Raiders make a decent run in the WWC. Before Night came along, Jennifer was the most feared female striker in the ESF, and despite her age, she still has all her talent.

Victoria Icecloud
Age - 1046
Victoria is wonderful off of set pieces, but her reckless play is what makes her a liability at times. This is why Grace has decided to keep her on the bench and play the standard 4-4-2 formation.

Mary Orealus
Age - 923
Another one of the youngsters who made it onto the squad. She is here mainly as a spectator to watch and learn from her betters.

Jeruselem Government News
Chicks World Cup goes 3x3

Another World Cup? The Women's World Cup - the won Jeruselem won last time (not one we never progress past the 2nd round). Edition 3 of it to be more precise. Jeruselem are World Champions (sounds good eh?) and ranked #1 too just for good measure. The Angel's are back to defend their cup - in the land of the Women's World Cup I winners, Liverpool England. Just be consistent we are placed in Group 3 with some familiar faces.

Who's in Group 3 apart from ourselves? Firstly our friends Wentland who like following us around it seems. 7th ranked Wentland should qualify as they did pretty well last World Cup and the rest of group look rather unfamiliar unless we have a bolter here. 20th ranked Spaam are here. We've forgetten what the female Spaamians are called, but they are the only other ranked team here apart from Wentland and ourselves. Spaam did well in World Cup 29 but can their more feminine team do better?

The other teams - with some familiar names. Hiiraan and Magnus Valerius of World Cup ilk are here but unranked because they did not play during I and II. Expect some quality from these teams due to World Cup experience, but we don't how well they will do. Jagada are an unknown quantity for everyone here.

Expections? We should qualify and our main concerns will be Wentland and Spaam here. No LE or Starblaydia since we avoided them as we won the last one. The other teams are unknown and can do anything. As World Champs, we are expected to qualify. We need to make quarterfinals and that's just the minimum aim - to win AGAIN is the true goal.

On checking other groups, you can't get it easier than this really. Penny Handi and the team have a high expectation to satisfy.

Regular JGN report Rachel Kool will not be at Women's World Cup because she's got an issue common with women all over the universe, she's having kids - so Dazza Dallas will be filling in as team player and reporters. Dazza likes to talk a lot.

The Revolutionary of Montegrande- Sports Section

Montegrande prepares its debut in international tournaments.

The Football Women World Cup 3 is about to start in the distant nation of Liverpool England, but why do us montegrandeans care? Because the Lady Jaguars are participating in a woman world cup for their first time in history. And more important than that, this is the first international tournmanet Montegrande has ever participated, which is a great weight the Lady Jaguars will have to handle, apart from the strength and ability of their rivals.

By noon yesterday, the Comisar of Sports, Gonzalo Rivas in a press conference said: "Even when the government and the people of Montegrande cares about practicing sports, this is absolutely new and different for us. An International tournament is certainly a really tough challenge, and more if it´s your first one. So that´s we, as government, ask all the people of Montegrande to support the team even if we were smashed, what we hope it won´t happen. Other important point that raises our participation in this tournament is to evaluate if the sport promoting and development politics we have taken are accurate or not. With no other issue to discuss, I hope you a good weekend."

The practices of the team are completely secret, and it seems the government will pay for five stars hotels for their feminine pride, that have driven our people to a World Cup, but now will have to justify in the field all the hopes and expectatives the montegrandean people has for the squad that has in their lines promising young talents as Romina Glahn and Graciela Belmar, both from the most popular team in the country and last champion of the league, Red Star Montegrande.

The Lady Jaguars are in the group 6, with Sarzonia, which is 4th of the World, Mpsychoville, that is in 13th place, Swilatia (ranked 18th), and two other unranked teams (as the Jaguars themselves). Quakymbush and Los Mexico. The goal is to pass the group stage, and we hope the Jaguars will reach it with their offensive and technical football, characteristic from south America.

Island Footballers Touch Down
Ishtar women arrive in Liverpool for World Cup

LIVERPOOL, July 19 -- Twenty-two players, their coaches, trainers, families, and friends have arrived at Liverpool John Lennon Airport for the third annual Women's World Cup. The safe arrival was broadcast live on IBC-TV, and a small throng of onlookers and well-wishers cheered as the team crossed the tarmac.

Upon deplaning, the team was greeted by Ishtar's Ambassador to the UN, Lady G. McGee, and awarded ceremonial Golden Mermaid medals, representing the "hopes and dreams of the Ishtar nation," according to the Hon. Ms. McGee.

Ishtar Coach Miriam Westmoor then made some brief remarks, thanking their hosts, the city, and the ambassador. She said the team was well-rested and ready for their first match: "We welcome the hospitality of the Liverpudlians and the opportunity to compete with some of the top footie clubs in the world," Westmoor said. The game markes the Serene Republic's first venture into international sports, Westmoor noted. "We're looking forward to the challenge, and we're proud to represent our Republic in this important venture."

When asked about how the unranked Ishtar squad planned on handling their very first game against #3 ranked Yafor, Westmoor said, "I have high expectations for this team. Not a lot of people about know about Ishtar, so we may sneak up on a few people."

After the press conference and hotel check-in, the players were given the remainder of the day to go sightseeing, before several days of practice regimen were begun. Some of the girls visited the Royal Liver Building to see the Liver Birds. "What's with all the livers?" asked midfielder Mandy Boatswain, whereupon she was ushered into a pub.

Wentland
20-07-2006, 17:15
The messages of congratulation poured in from all sides following Wentland's successful qualification to the Women's World Cup finals for the third time. "It was certainly a great achievement," crowed Edwina Bluff, "we had great competition to get this far."

“Let’s see the crucial moments again,” suggested interviewer Sir Terence Wigan.

The camera cut away to a shot of an official by a fax machine…she carefully pressed the numbers and laid a piece of paper, face-down, onto the machine…green button pulsed and “it’s looking good…”

The crowd watched, breaths held, as the machine whirred into action…another bit of paper popped out of the bottom…a close up view stating “TRANSMISSION OK”…”IT’S THERE!!!!! Wentland are THROUGH!!!!”

“Bit of a cheap qualification, then, Edwina?”

“Not at all. Any idea how much an international fax costs?”

The squad had been announced and the B-team squad was being prepared, only a select 14 would be chosen for that. But the squad boarded the plane for Liverpool England in high spirits. Ranked seven in the world and semi-finalists – could they go that one little stage further and make the final?

First, though, the little matter of the group stage. First the little matter of Jagada, a totally unknown outfit. Bluff had not been able to glean anything from her spies but she would have to rely on the strength of her own team.

Suddenly Bluff was called off the plane. Family emergency, they said. She had to leave the squad to take off without her…she would catch them up later in Liverpool England. Meanwhile she could work with the B team before they went off to Walled City.
Wentland
20-07-2006, 21:14
It had been an uneventful flight, probably because the plane had been chartered to the WFA and there were no other passengers. But it was going to be a long one – Liverpool England is not exactly close to Wentland.

It was only over some massive ocean that there was the first inkling that something was not right. The in-flight info service had the plane flying at a much lower altitude than normal. Anna Kumble asked a stewardess if there was a problem – she was assured there was not. She was not privy to the cockpit – where the pilots were passing out through lack of oxygen.

A couple of hours later the emergency lights came on. The players buckled up and waited, nervously, apart from Anne Foy who suggested a loop-the-loop. The senior stewardess approached Foy and suggested that she sit down as there was some difficulty with the pilots. “Oh, pah. I could fly this thing…”

“She can, too,” said Lucinda Rhodes, “she has her pilot’s licence and everything.”

“In which case…”

Anne Foy was taken to the cockpit. The pilots were almost insensible and the plane had been flying on autopilot. “We just need to find someone to take it down…there’s an island somewhere around where we can get assistance…”

Foy spotted some land on the radar screen. “I’m jettisoning some fuel to reduce a fire risk.” She glided down to the island, a jungle-encrusted speck of emerald in the sapphire sea, and spotted a landing strip right in the middle. Her landing was expert, much to the relief of the senior stewardess.

However, there was one small problem. It was the wrong island.

And there was not enough fuel left to take off again.

“Where the bloody hell are they???” demanded Edwina Bluff in Liverpool England.

“Mrs Bluff, we have hundreds of experts looking at that…but they may be in one of the Emerald Islands. They’re way off and miles from civilization after the earthquake.”

“So you’re not going to get them?”

“We are trying, but it might take some days. It is unlikely we can get them until the knockout stages.

“The Committee has come up with special dispensation. You can name some alternative players and replace them when your team arrives. But you must be quick as your first game is tomorrow.”

“Where can I get players at such short notice?”

A quick call to Sally James, with the Bs having beaten Walled City, and the reserve team – known as the Little Tits – were on their way…an unexpected World Cup call-up for some of the veterans…Kirsten Cassidy was going to make her WC finals debut, as she had hoped would happen at WC2…unless Katy Torpenhow would be preferred as a reward for her career…

Liverpool, the eve of the first match

The Montegrandean national team finally landed in Liverpool England. Although it was a quite long flight from the distant South America, it was quite peaceful (may be because the government lent the team the best plane anmd pilots in the whole country and because the skies over the Atlantic Ocean are relatively calm, at least in comparison to the skies above the furious Pacific Ocean.)

Even when the flight was calm and the hours of relaxation before their first match against the presumably very strong team of Sarzonia were more than enough, the montegrandean players seemed quite nervous: this was their first time in an international competence and they didn´t want to desappoint a country in which football had such an important place like Montegrande (or any south american nation.)

The girl that were more nervous of the team were the young stars, Romina Glahn and Graciela Belmar. The fact of being under 20 years old and being the promising stars of a country that had may be too much hopes for its first international tournament was a burden too heavy for girls that were just in college, and if they couldn´t find quick the way of carrying that weight properly they shouldn´t rend well in the cup.

The captain of the team, Trinidad Cuneo and the coach Martina Suárez understood quickly how the young stars of the Red Star Montegrande felt (in part because as leaders of the team they would have to face the chriticisms in their country more than any one else) and decided to talk quickly to Romina and Graciela (privately, of course), to calm them a little.

Trinidad managed to have a private conversation with the two nervous players and after hearing them trying to appear more confident than they really were, with the objective of hiding their anxiety and fear, the captain said to them: "You are not the only one who are nervous in the team but if we sucumb to anxiety and fear less possibilities we have of doing a good championship. If we fall, all of us will, not only you, and our only way to prevent elimination is playing the best that we can, and may be better than that. You are great players and if you relax and play like you do usually we might do a good debut against Sarzonia. And remember that we are all supporting you, and I´m sure so does the people of Montegrande." As answer, the two girls smiled at their captain, a little ashamed for their attitude and a little more confident for the big match.

In a press conference, the coach Martina Suárez declared that even when she was sure the jaguars were a great football team, may be the expectatives of the montegrandean team were too high for their first world cup and that hopes were generating unnecessary pressure over the team, which would difficult a good first participation of the jaguars. However, the montegrandean squad was preparing their best football for the match with Sarzonia, which would be the great test for the team.

Small teenage girl in an Jeruselem Angels soccer uniform in front of a camera

"Hi viewers. This isn't Rachel Kool, err no. I'm nowhere near as good looking either. This is actually Dazza Dallas, midfielder for the Jeruselem Women's soccer team for the Women's World Cup three. I got this job because I'm a big mouth and can't shut up. Yes, the Women's World Cup three has started with Jeruselem as defending champions back to fight all who seek the crown. First games of this championship have been played and I'm glad to say things seem to alright even though I never got on the field today. Maybe next game. Anyway a brief summary of Group 3 with six teams. Actually most groups have six teams except Group 1 which has eight. Group 1 also has the hosts Liverpool in it, but I can't explain that either. Results results ..."

"All the seeds in Group C won. Defending champs beat new female World Cup team Magnus Valerius three one. A cruise for the first game but the inexperienced Magnus girls found the going a little hard against the champs. Our attacking 442 formation may seem rather defensive, but the Magnus team let in 3 goals but to their credit they got one when it was all too late. Expected win but a winning start for the champs. Wentland got their 3 points too. The team who follow us about scored two one win against rookie Jagada who we don't know much about as we don't even know they have male team. Anyway three points to Wentland still. Spaam hit the road and grabbed all the points off first-timer Hiiraan too. Score was three one and Spaam are here to show their male teammates have a rival female team to rival their skills. Great for the Spaamians! I hope the name right ... oh and the Magnus team are the Princesses. Angels beat Princesses today, sounds funny."

"Jeruselem goal scorers. Zizzi Zidane headbutted a goal in 30 minute and not someone else. You shouldn't be leaving players unmarked but that's what happened. Dizzie Ohmed scores another fantastic goal for the angels just when half time started when she got upended in the penalty area. Hey look she didn't dive - she got hit by three players at the same time. Sophie Olmat finished things off with tap in goal from a game of soccer ping pong late. The Princesses score late when we were slacking around. The scorer was Anastasionova , but don't quote me on that. That's it from big mouth Dazza who needs some Cute Bunny Cola or she'll fall asleep."

Quakmybush lose First Game

The Quakmybush Lady Sharks played their first game in The Womens World Cup. The Lady Sharks played quite well against a more experienced Swilatia side but came up short losing 4-1. Hannah Estyer gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute, but then it was all downhill from there. Swilatia players scored in the 45th, 60th, 86th and 90th minute. To seal the deal. The Lady Sharks will next face another unranked team, Los Mexico who are coming off a draw against Mcpsychoville.

Lady Rockies Win In A Shocker

The Toranat Lady Rockies played their first game in the Women's World Cup today, and they Won! The Lady Rockies took on the 6 ranked squad from New Montreal States and played exceptionally wel. In the 42nd minute a NMS player scored. The team was dejected and thought it was over. But then in the 56th minute a shot from the top of the box by Denise Meade sailed over the keepers head and made it a 1-1 game. The game was winding down and the team felt good. Then in the 89th minute the Lady Rockies got a lucky bounce and the ball went straight to Meade again, she made no mistake and made it 2-1 Lady Rockies. That is how the game ended. The Lady Rockies next match will be against 10th ranked Starblaydia who is coming off a very convincing 4-0 win over Marceau State.

Ishtar Women Defeated
International debut comes up short in 4-3 nailbiter.

LIVERPOOL, July 20 -- Elation turned to disappointment as the Ishtar National Women's team played a hard-fought match against rival Yafor before going down 4-3 in the later stages.

The Yafor squad, ranked #3 overall in the tourney, opened up a quick 1-0 lead, but Ishtar midfielder Mueller answered back with an agile shot into the back of the net off of a well-placed corner from Kamikawa. Yafor answered back with two more scores before the half, including a penalty kick given after Ishtar sweeper Madchen was yellow-carded for tripping in the box.

Trailing 3-1 in the second half, the Mermaids rallied back. Striker Romanoff put the ball past the Yafor keeper on a long breakaway that stretched the field and revealed the team's offensive potential. Two minutes later Mueller gained her second point of the match, heading home a kick by Romanoff that bounced off the upright, tying the game up at 3-3.

Yafor was not to be denied though, answering with a strong goal off a corner on the 70th minute, before falling back in the final minutes into a defensive posture that the Ishtar squad could not crack.

"While I'm disappointed we couldn't hold the draw, I think the girls played extremely well and lived up to their potential," said Coach Westmoor. "Our offense is definitely talented, and our defense is gelling quickly. We're definitely looking forward to the next fixture."

Some of the players were less sanguine. Goalkeeper Anya Rasputina, marked for four points, declined to speak to the press after the game and angrily stalked out of the stadium, while Midfielder Kasumi Miyamori wept openly in the locker room, pounding her fists against the lockers as the tears streamed freely down her face, while saying, "Why oh why gods have you forsaken me?"

Most of the players however took the loss in stride. Particularly pleased was midfielder Mueller, who scored two goals, including the first International Goal in Ishtarean history. Asked for a comment about her accomplishment upon this historic occasion, the chipper all-star attempted to suppress a grin and said, "I ask our Serene President to declare July 20th as Mueller Day, now and forever."

Other Group Five results were Virginia Nova 4-1 over Carvalo and Becquerelia pulled a 1-1 draw against Sliponia. Ishtar's next match is against Group Five table leader Virginia Nova, which can be veiwed on IBC Channel 1 at 11 PM Ishtar Standard Time.

Lady Raiders Lose but Succeed

Yes the Raiders lost thier opening match, but it wasn't due to lack of effort. In fact, after the 10th minute, Liverpool England never had another shot on net. Unfortunately for the Raiders, they only had two shots, both coming from Kyla Night. The Devils Kiss did have her oppurtunities, but the LE keep was up to the challange. Hopefully some extra training on penalties will get the offence sturring. They will need it to be firing on all cylinders if they want to secure a few points and possible lucking into the next round.

San Haven accepts 1-1 draw to Rorysville in its first ever women's world cup:

San Haven 1-1 Rorysville

The #7 Allie Slone, a young player from the Rorysville side scored in the 23rd minute after several minutes bombarding San Haven defense & they finally cracked. But the match did not start there. After the half-time break, San Haven dominated the field & has around 60% of the ball & made 11 attempts at scoring finally scoring the 11th time by Veteran player Jobe Lamb (#9), when she headed it in over top of the goalkeeper.

The game convinced the San Haven Squad that they have a lot to face, because Rorysville attempted goals 14 times & all 13 were close, but one has to slip in (which was the second attempt). San Haven knows that if other nations play better than Rorysville, than there world cup hopes could be short-lived.
Los Mexico

McPsychoville simply too good for the Mexican's but it was a 0-0 Draw Overnight. McPsychoville has great offensive skills, drawing more power from behind as they went deep into Los mexican territory, but the array of Mexican tactics, especially up front was too much for McPsychoville to handle. The opposition tried 4 times at a crack at goals, with 3 barly making it & the last attempt in the last 4 minutes of the game nearly went in hard, but the Mexican GoalKeeper's hands were not quick enough, so she threw her whole body against the ball & succesfully defended his goals, although for the whole 5 seconds, the Los mexican players thought they would loose the match.

Los Mexican Sports Articles & Major newspapers throughout the nation & even spread across to the region (San Haven, Toraquay etc) boasted that the Mexican Women's team could have a high chance of making it to the finals, but International Officials & People have turned it down, because they have not even scored a goal.

"All right girls, that's it for the films," Coach Westmoor told her team. "Everyone go get a hearty supper and a good night's sleep. Curfew is 8 PM sharp. That means no carousing," she added, casting a meaningful glance towards her star goalie, Anya, before gathering her clipboards and exiting the room.

Don't worry about me Coach, Anya scowled. After giving up four goals today, she was in no mood for the press, her coach, her teammates, let alone carousing. She angrily squeezed a soccer ball between her palms, flexing the tendons in her arms and frowning at the wall. Her teammates carefully avoided her, sensing her sour mood, as they filed out in twos and threes, no doubt to sample the cuisine in cosmpolitan Liverpool.

Four goals! She hadn't even given up three goals in a match all year during First League play. Angrily she threw the ball against the row of lockers in the empty room.

Or almost empty room. The upstart young midfielder Marcie caught the ball on the rebound with her foot, juggled it a bit and booted it back towards Anya, who gloved it with another scowl.

"Don't you have another press conference or something?" Anya said.

Marcie walked over and put a friendly hand on Anya's shoulder. "Nah, I'm done with that. Want to go get something to eat?"

"No."

"Aw come on, don't get down on yourself. You're the best goalie in Ishtar. Come out and have fun with me, hit some pubs, some clubs...?"

"Look, college girl," Anya said, pushing Marcie's hand off her shoulder. "I was a pro when you were still in high school." Kids. What did they know? If you asked her, the whole team should be pros, none of these college all-stars. "I don't need pep talks from a rookie, no matter how many goals you got today."

Marcie rolled her eyes. "Fine, fine maybe I can still catch up with Eleana. I hear she likes to party," she said, turning and leaving the room. "I heard you did too, but I guess that rumor wasn't true. Hope they all aren't," she said, glancing over her shoulder and sticking out her tongue.

"Bah!" Anya said, hurling the ball at Marcie as the young midfielder scampered out of the room. Irresponsible kids. It was time for Anya to go to her room, lock the door, and watch tapes of the Virginia Nova penalty kickers. She hadn't time for carousing. She really didn't.

Montegrandean team after the defeat

The humiliating defeat against Sarzonia destroyed quickly the hopes that all the nation had in their squad, and the press showed all the deception of the montegrandeans. The Federation, however, held a press conference to explain to the people the fact that if this was not a good tournament for the team, they would try harder to succeed in further competences. The fans, however, couldn´t reprime their sadness and angry against the football authorities and a great number of them protested to ask for the resignation of both the federation president and the coach´s resignations.

The mood of the members of the team was as low as the one of the fans, and many of the girls, mostly the younger of them were crying hopelessly because of the bad result. May be the most affected were Romina Glahn and Graciela Belmar, specially because their poor participation in the first game enraged the fans.

The older of the players, as well as the captain tried to calm the angst of the young players, but it was unsuccesful. The sad players cried they weren´t good enough to be playing the World Cup and they would dissapoint a whole nation that had trusted a lot in them, and kept weeping until the coach came into the room, visibly furious.

She shouted first to the players, and the ones that were crying stopped, because of the impression: "If you´re afraid to dissapoint the nation the first thing that you should do is stop your moans! This championship is not over yet for us and we knew this first game againts one of the best teams of this tournament would be tough. The only way to revert this defeat and try to clasify us to the next stage is to stop acting like we have lost any hope and prepare for the next game. "

After the intervention of the coach, the team tried to be a little more confident in their ability, and the older players made the others feel a little more comfortable. A tough match would be the next if the wanted to continue in the WWCIII and not fail this time. They should be strong, for the sake of their whole nation, and they would do as much as they could for accomplishing that goal.

LAKE PORTER SUN

Liverpool England- The Lady Oxen began their QUEST FOR THE CUP tm today with a less than impressive 5-3 win over Risa-Aramour, a new comer to the Cup. Head Coach, Kylie Rena had this to say after the match:

The 2 years off in between Cups has shown us that we maybe a bit rusty, but I'm confident that we'll shake off these early jitters and gel together.

Risa-Aramour opened the scoring early with a goal in the 13th minute by #3 as the Risa-Aramourians only put numbers not names on their jerseys. In the 24th minute, a brillantly lead counter attack lead by the Childress Sisters, lead to the first goal by Aki Fa'Mau-Tana, who continued her impressive debut last Cup. Fa'Mau-Tana scored once again this time in the 39th minute to give Qazox the lead they would not relinquish. Just before the half in the 3rd minute of injury time, Kelli Renoir scored off a direct kick giving the Lady Oxen a 3-1 lead.

Just like the 1st half, Risa-Aramour scored first in the second half, this time by #7 in the 53rd minute to cut the deficit to 3-2. But the offensive prowess of Qazox couldn't be contained by such a young team as Kelli Renoir scored her second goal of the match in the 67th minute. But Risa-Aramour held tightly as in the 75th minute #7 scored again, on a penalty kick, after Stephanie McDonald blatantly took down #5 of Risa-Aramour in the penalty area. Now with the match at 4-3, Qazox looked to hold on to the slim lead and get the 3 points, but Risa-Aramour looked to tie the match by shifting from an 5-2-3 to a 3-3-4 but that cost them as in the 86th minute; a misplayed throw-in allowed Qazox, a 4-on-2 break, and Kelli Renoir got her hat trick to end the match at 5-3.

Up for the Lady Oxen is Elves Security Forces a 0-2 loser against Host Liverpool England. This match should not be close, but as today showed, these Lady Oxen maybe on borrowed time.

Risa-Aramour- 3 #3 (1)- 13'; #7 (1,2)- 53' 75(pk)'
Qazox- 5 Fa'Mau-Tana (1,2) 24',39'; Renoir (1,2,3) 48+', 67', 86'

Oh, I didn't play again but it means I'm not to all sore when I do these reports. I'm only 14, and with all the other players being bigger, I get knocked around a fair bit. I'm not going to bore folks who the goalscorers as you'll see all the results on JGN with goals and all."

<scratches back>

"Those Wentland girls showed why they are go good. Magnus Valerius or Princesses, go beaten up badly on the scoreline. Wentland hammered them 5-2 on top of their loss to Jeruselem 1-3. Wentland and Jeruselem with a perfect record while the Princesses have a record you don't want - two losses. Hiiraan played Jagada and you'd think they'd have goods? Unknowns Jagada beat them 1-0 to score their first points and move up the table. Hiiraan with two losses too."

"Some news on the team who beat us 99.9% of the time. Starblaydia! Some team called Toranat beat them 2-1. Wow, I wish we had the same kind of luck. Toranat are actually leading the Group with Starblaydia, Haraki and New Montreal States at the moment. Now that's what we call an impressive debut. Some team called Lexington SC are 2nd in the that Group too. Group 4 will be very interesting indeed while most groups seem to following the script with seeds having no trouble."

"That's it from Liverpool England. I'm working on my new PC project, bigger faster and better. So I am pwn all you wannabe Counter Strikers."

Lady Moose Continue Unbeaten Streak!

With two games under thier belt now the Lady Moose have continued on thier game with a 2-0 win over Dorian and Sonya in the WWC. The Win puts The lady moose in Second place behind the ever impressive Chicanda. As for the game let's take a look. The game started off a bit sluggish but as the game moved on it was obvious who was ready to play and who wasn't as the Lady Moose took the offensive and were rewarded at the 43rd minute when Carrie Banner netted a goal on a beatiful one timer.Beating Iraida Polhill to the low corner. The half would end at 1-0 RV in the second half a few chances by the Faeries Yahaira Savitsky and Sunday Zunino had the best couple of Chances but Irina Svenernsky was ready for them. at the 80th minute the Lady Moose would strike again with a 2 on 1 rush as Carrie Banner and Alex Banner Beat the Faeries defense Carrie fired it at Polhill who made the save but the rebound fell right to Alex who buried it to put the Moose up 2-0. The game would end with that result and the Lady moose look on to the next match versus Milchama.
"Well these girls continue thier to notch play I'm really proud of the effort but with that said they need to work harder as the games will get even tougher when we face Milchama,Chicanada and San Haven."--Coach Federov

Ahmed Jones (presenter): “And we’re live now with Sophie Jenkins, coach of the national women’s team, to talk about the performance of the Dames en Rouge in the World Cup so far. Mrs. Jenkins, a loss, a draw and only one goal scored. Is this a disappointment, a fairly good performance, or is still too early to say?”

Sophie Jenkins (coach): “The Cup is only just beginning of course, but yes, in a way it is disappointing. I can’t say it’s a good performance, but it’s definitely not a bad one. Both our matches, against Andossa Se Mitrin Vega and Khenas, were very close and could have gone either way. The basics are there; we just need to improve on them.”

Jones: “Most viewers are used to seeing Ariddians score lots of goals. We all still remember the mixed-gender team beating Chicanada 6-2 in the latest World Cup. But the ladies don’t seem to be scoring. What do you think that’s due to?”

Jenkins: “They’re not scoring much, but they’re not conceding nearly as many goals as the mixed team does either. I’m not saying we’re focusing on defence; far from it. But I’m not Evgheny [Melenciuc, coach of the mixed-gender team], so my approach isn’t exactly the same as his. Still, we do need to be scoring more, and we’ll be working on that over the next few games.”

Jones: “It’s been said by some that the team would be doing much worse if it weren’t for Hanifah Kyaw. She’s scored the only goal so far, against Khenas. What would you say to that?”

Jenkins: “I’m sure Hanifah would be the first to disagree. She’s an excellent player, probably one of the best in the world today. But a team is a team, and Hanifah plays with her team mates, not on her own.”

Jones: “Group One so far is very, very close. Have you got any predictions to make?”

Jenkins: “Our girls can qualify. They’ve got the skill to do it, and we’re going to work together to make sure it happens.”

Jones: “All right, thank you Comrade Jenkins, and good luck for the next matches! The weather now. . .”

Lady Sharks Lose In a Heartbreaker

The Quakmybush Lady Sharks played their second game in the Women's World Cup yesterday and they came up short. The team lost 1-0 to Los Mexico The game was even for the first 85 minutes. But then in the last minute of injury time a Los Mexican player broke through the Lady Sharks defense and put one past keeper Dayna Gretta. The Sharks will next face Mcpsychoville who are coming off a 1-0 win over Montegrande.

Lady Rockies Win Another

The Toranat Lady Rockies have won another match in the Women's World Cup this time defeating 10th overall seed Starblaydia. The team got of to a rocky start with Starblaydia scoring in the 20th minute. Then in the 27th minute Denise Meade scored her third of the tounrament. Then in the 87th minute Meade scored again making it 2-1 Toranat. This is shocking seeing as the Rockies are now sitting at the top of their group.

Lady jaguars defeated again and are impelled to win all the remaining matches

After the humilliating defeat against Sarzonia, the montegrandean women team lost again, now against McPsychoville, in which has been a terrible first international competition for Montegrande, with only one goal in favor and 6 against. The aggresive and technical football that the lady jaguars promised for this world cup hasn´t been seen until now, and the popular claim for the resignation of the association president and the women adult team coach is now generalized all arounf the country.

Even when the montegrandean team is in the last place of the group with 2 defeats, there is still the reasonable chance of finishing in the third place of the group, but for that the lady jaguars have to win all the remaining games. It is now the time for the montegrandean team to show all what we haven´t seen in the jaguars in this world cup: technique, style, goals, and above all, courage.

Nyriads Test Group Playing Well

Project Erosis - Phase III
Field Test Progress Report
Breann Mikkola, Supervising Controller

MD1& MD2 report.

The Nyriad test group proved themselves in the Second Women’s World Cup and easily qualified from their group, only giving the group title back to Jeruselem on the final day of qualification. Then the higher level of competition sent the Nyriads home with some answers to questions that had been present before. The one area the test group had not been able to compete was in overall team speed.

In all honesty, there is little to be done about that issue, and those adjustments will have to be made with the next generation of subjects. What could be worked on was basic skill levels and concentration efforts by subjects in the Nyraid grouping. That has been done effectively. Now we just have to see how well those adjustments will work in light of WWC3.

The first day went rather brilliantly, as the Nyriads downed a very tough Ariddian side 1-0. Tobi Ausman scored the only goal of the match in the 34th minute.

The second match was a little more difficult as the Nyriads struggled to a 2 all draw with Risa-Armour. The speed issue again showed its ugly head and the Nyriads struggled to simply keep even for the match. A goal from Ausman in the 21st minute and another from Reagan Smythe in the 86th kept the Nyriads from dropping the match. We will make some adjustments to shore up our limitations in transition defense.

More will follow once we know how the adjustments are working.

Mermaids Drop Second Straight
Women footballers plummet to bottom of table
LIVERPOOL, July 22 -- An exciting first half that saw the Ishtar women's national team holding the lead ultimately gave way to injuries, penalties and futility in an ugly finale.

Meeting #15 ranked Viginia Nova on the pitch, the Mermaids jumped to an early lead in the third minute off a long, crossing shot by outside midfielder Ayane Kamikawa. It was her first international goal and gave her club the lead, 1-0

Virginia Nova marched back in the twentieth minute with an excellent header, tying it up 1-1. Ishtar midfielder Marcia Mueller answered quickly, booming one into the back of the net on a rebound, putting Ishtar again in the lead, 2-1. Fifteen minutes later Virginia answered back with a header off a sharply-placed corner ball, leaving the game tied 2-2 at the break.

Things fell apart quickly for Ishtar early in the second half. The Virginians came out strong with a nice chip shot off the crossbar, taking the lead at 3-2. Injured on the play was Ishtar midfielder Kasumi Miyamori, who strained her leg. She was replaced by Tracie Tailor making her first international appearance.

Two minutes later Ishtar's top goal scorer Mueller was booked with a red flag for a questionable play, taking down a Virginian striker with a sliding rear tackle. With the team now a man down and having lost a scoring threat, Virginia quickly slashed through the porous defense with crisp passing and bolstered their lead to 4-2.

In the final ten, Ishtar striker Eleana Romanoff pushed the margin closer with an arcing crossbar shot, moving the score to 4-3. Virginia put the game finally out of reach in the 85th minute, with a well-placed penalty kick.

Final tally was 5-3, marking Ishtar's second straight loss and dropping them to the bottom of the table. With only three matches left to go and the worst Goals Against tally in the entire Cup, the girls' chances for advancement are looking grim.

The team's next match is against #19 ranked Becquerelia. Miyamori's injury was deemed minor, and she is expected to play tomorrow.

Westmoor Defends Poor Showing
Claims Ishtar woman's team 'showing strong' and advancement 'still possible'
LIVERPOOL, July 22 -- Miriam Westmoor, head coach of the Ishtar women's national football team, defended her squad's performance after her team's second straight loss.

Questioned sharply about the porous defense, she said it needed more time to gel, and when asked pointedly if she would replace under-performing goalkeeper Anya Rasputina, Westmoor flatly refused, calling her favorite player a "true all-star."

Complete transcript follows:

Sal Jenkins, Ishtar City Gazette: "Coach Westmoor, is it fair to say your defense has broken down completely?"
Westmoor: "Absolutely not. Our defense is showing strong. It just needs more time to gel, and remember the teams we're facing have played together often before. Ours has not."

Pauline Smoot, IBC-TV: "The talk shows are buzzing, they want the goalie benched. She's given up nine goals, on pace to set a Cup record. Is it time for her to ride the pine?"
Westmoor: "Of course not. Anya is one of the best players on our team. A true all-star. Replacing her in the middle of a five-day tourney would be ridiculous."

Jenkins: "Ms. Westmoor! Are you playing favorites? Anya's from your own team [Euphonia A.C.] after all."
Westmoor: "Sal, don't be absurd. She's the best player for that position. Next."

Smoot: "Coach, what happened with Mueller getting a red card? Is she some sort of psychotic criminal?"
Westmoor: "That was, um, well an unfortunate incident that I think we can all learn from. No she is not a criminal, come on now. We're waiting to hear if she's suspended for just the game or, um, more."

Izzy Bunion, Harmonia Herald: "Miss Westmoor, your team is in shambles with no hope for advancement. Where did it all go wrong?"
Westmoor: "I don't think that's fair. There are three games left, we could still take third place and advancement is still possible."

(Laughter)

Bunion: "Ms. Westmoor, are you deliberately trying to embarrass our nation on the world stage? Do you hate the Island of Ishtar? Do you want us to fail?"

Westmoor: "What?!"

Bunion: "Ms. Westmoor, for the good of the team, for the good of the country, for the love of God, will you please step down?"

(More laughter)

Westmoor (angrily): "Now look here, you fat miserable couch jockey. You can bash me all you want to sell your filthy little tabloid, but these girls are out here playing their $&#@ hearts out and for you vultures to sit there and insult them makes me want to puke. This press conference is over!"

The montegrandean team headquarters, Liverpool

The girls just couldn´t believe they were defeated in a game in which they improved in relation to their awful first match against Sarzonia. They were last in the group with two played games and their dream of classificating for the next stage of the world cup seemed more and more impossible as the time passed by. The next games would be tough, they knew they should win all the coming matches to have a slight chance.

The next match against Swilatia would be tougher than the previous ones: they were obligated to win the team that was the first of the group until now, and the swilatians had recently defeated the powerful team of Sarzonia, the same that had easily smashed them by 5-1 in the first game of the Montegrandeans.

The atmosphere at the light dinner that night was depressing. They knew their first performings were absolutely forgettable and they had to be a completely different teams, full of style and ideas the next day, for the entire nation´s sake. However, the game against Mcpsychoville showed that the lady jaguars could learn easily from their mistakes and even if they were eliminated in this cup, the experience that the young players of the team were getting would be of key importance for an eventual next participation in a women world cup.

The night before the game, the players talked, seemingly relaxed: they knew the angst would only make tougher the coming games, and if they didn´t classify they knew that they had to play the better they could, to show they were learning fastly and should not fail in a next cup.

LAKE PORTER SUN

Liverpool England- The Lady Oxen today continued their QUEST FOR THE CUP tm Withanother unimpressive match as they drew with new-comers Elves Security Forces 1-1.

The match was played in heavy drizzle and the unexpected early injuries to both Forward Sunny Powers and Keeper Alice Springs, placed the outcomw of the match into very young and inexperienced hands and feet. In the 15th minute on a leaping save, Alice Springs landed on the left leg and broke her ankle. She is expected to miss the rest of the tourney. Juila Kidd came in and despite having palyed in a few matches before, this would be her first real long substitution. In the 37th minute, Sunny Powers injured herself by jumping up for a header and was upended and landed on her shoulder, dislocating it. She will miss the next two or three matches. In her stead, HC Kylie Rena shifted the usual 3-2-5 to a 3-3-4 adding Midfielder Danielle Childress.

These injuries and the subsequent subsitutions allowed ESF to recover some of thier wind and in the 36th minute, Kyla Night scored on a goal that Alice Springs usually would have stopped, a bouncing knuckler that skidded past Juila Kidd.

At Half time, Qazox trailed 1-0 and the momentum was all ESF's. But the second half started well for Qazox as Aki Fa'Mau-Tana scored just 4 minutes into the half to tie it at 1-1 all. But now the drizzle had developed into a full downpour and neither side could do much in the driving winds and rain.

Up next for the Lady Oxen is Andossa Se Mitrin Vega one of the better young squads in this Cup. Anything like the last two matches and ASMV will walk all over Qazox, but hopefully Kylie Rena has something up her sleeve.

Faeries Playing Like Fairies - Go Figure

Seryak Quaranto was quite literally ready to pull out what remained of his hair. 4 years of hard work. 4 years of grueling decisions. 4 years of playing babysitter to a bunch of whiny brats. He had thought the Faeries would be ready to make some noise here in WWC3. He had thought that the effort would pay off. He had thought things would be better this time around. He had thought wrong.

The Faeries - what a fitting name to the bunch of candy-asses - had played well in the first match against Milchama. They had earned a 1-1 draw by some freak of chance. But a draw is a draw and the faeries had managed to get one. Sunday Zunino scored the goal for D&S in the 58th minute but had to be replaced when that shot broke a toenail. Ok so maybe it was the whole toe, but that isn’t the point.

Next the Faeries really lived up to their name by allowing Rorysville to trounce them 0-2. The style of play, effort, and overall result showed just how poor the squad was doing. 0-2. Damn thing should have been 0-5. But luck kept it at least somewhere where respectable could been seen at a distance. Yeah Right.

Anyway, it is in to the bag of tricks for the next match. Akilah Kon will see plenty of action in the midfield. Perhaps her recent defense of her World Sumo Championship will have her fired up and ready to squash the competition. Yelena' Kannady will also see time in the next few matches as Zunino rehabilitates her toenail - er ummmm broke toe. Same difference.

Jeruselem Government News

WWC3 - Group 4 in chaos!

This is your regular JGN update on the Women's World Cup III, in case you missed Dazza Dallas's live update from Liverpool England. Well, Jeruselem's group is boring - very boring so far.

Firstly Jagada - fresh from a win, found out what World Champions do to the weak. Jagada took us on and well, lost, badly. World Champs Jeruselem tore them SIX NIL. Poor old Jagada had no answers to what Jeruselem had to show - defensively and offensively. To make things worse, Jeruselem took off some stars in the 2nd half to see what the "kids" could so and nothing changed. The kids including Dazza Dallas showed the Jagada team who was boss today. Five star Jeruselem scoring 6 goals.

Wentland kept up with Jeruselem with a predictable but less dramatic 3-0 win over Hiiraan. Wentland undefeated and looking good to make the finals we say. And for Hiiraan? They must hope Spaam choke sometime or the unranked teams can book early tickets home.

Spaam beat the Magnus Valerius Princesses who still don't have any points. Nothing like the 6-0 or 3-0 wins, but only a mere 2-0 win. Spaam aren't a team to be laughed at but they have only one loss - to Jeruselem.

Now for the story of Group 4! Firstly, unexpected leader Toranat LOST. World Cuppers Haraki beat them 2-0 but we expect Haraki to do well. Is this the start of the Haraki revival, or blimp on Toranat's record. We can't say if Toranat will continue it's good form or Haraki will wake up and take control.

New Montreal States and Starblaydia BOTH lost. Yes, not to a team like Jeruselem but some teams we know nothing about. Marceau State took down the Paladins 2-1 in a shock as this was not expected. Either the rookies in Group are simply really good or the favourites are jus starting slow. New Montreal States aren't looking good now but all this can change later. Lexington SC vs Starblaydia? You'd expect Starblaydia to bounce back from a loss? Lexington SC didn't follow the script - they took down Starblaydia 1-0. We can't beat Starblaydia in any competition but anyone else can it seems.

Group 3
Jeruselem 6-0 Jagada
Wentland 3-0 Hiiraan
Spaam 2-0 Magnus Valerius

Lady Sharks Lose Third In A Row

Today in Women's World Cup action the Quakmybush Sharks lost again. The team lost to Mcpsychoville 1-0. The game started out even but in the 67th minute when Sara "Srar" Koivu, put a shot in from the top of the box. This was the only goal of the match. The Lady Sharks now sit fifth in the group and there is little if any hope to advance. The Lady Sharks will next face basement dwellers Montegrande and hope for a win.

Montegrande´s lady jaguars defeated again and say goodbye to the chance of advancing

Just when it seemed the Montegrande women national team was learning from the mistakes of the first match, the spectacular game of their swilatian adversaries had vanished the last hopes of the team with a categoric score of 5-2. Now the mission of the team is trying to win if possible the two coming games, trying to scape from the last place of the group, in which the team is by now, with 0 points and a goal difference of -8 in three games.

the next match of the montegrandean ladies is against Quakmybush, which is inmediatly over Montegrande in the fifth place of the group 6, and like Montegrande, already eliminated. A victory over the lady sharks of Quakmybush, would make the enraged public of the nation this disastrous participation, at least little, and would be a good boost for the last match of the team against a surprising squad from Los Mexico, in which the lady jaguars are impelled to kiss goodbye the championship with dignity.

It seems that the isolating policy of the government has been the key factor in this poor showing of the montegrandean squad in this first participation in an international championship like this. However, this is only the first step that the nation has done in international competences, and is probable that Montegrande will learn important lessons from this first world cup, and the decision of the federation of keeping their president and the coach of the adult women team for at least the next women world cup seems to be the more prudent decision it could be taken, for this bitter experience in Liverpool should be used wisely for next participations.

Still no victory for the Dames en Rouge

Going up against Cup hosts and former World Champions Liverpool England, the Ariddians knew the task would not be easy. The most important, in the minds of many supporters and analysts, was to avoid a crushing defeat. In that sense, at least, the Dames en Rouge did not fare too badly.

Liverpool England created several good opportunities for itself in the first twenty minutes, prompting the Ariddians to cautiously limit their attacks, and strengthen their defence instead. In the seventeenth minute, Awe Esh took the ball from a Liverpudlian attacker and made a very risky pass to goalkeeper Cécile Granville, who grabbed the ball with her arms protectively.

With their defence in place, however, the Ariddians turned to attacking once more. The opening goal was Ariddian, courtesy of the omnipresent Hanifah Kyaw in the twenty-sixth minute. Holding on to their lead through the first half of the match, the Dames en Rouge lost it in the fifty-first minute, and Liverpool England took the lead in the seventy-eighth. Once again, Ariddia had lost by one goal.

“Such a close match against a side like Liverpool England is encouraging,” was all Sophie Jenkins, the team’s coach, would say. Ariddia is now in an extremely precarious position, and few abroad would bet on the Dames en Rouge qualifying.

In the Cards

With a dissapointing loss to The Lowland Clans today, the team's chances of advancing are vanishing quicker than the wine at a royal party. The game itself was entertaining, the winning goal coming in the 83rd minute. Until that point, the game was back and forth, with the teams roughing each other up for every loose ball, yet the ref allowed the physical play only handed out fouls when a player would go down hard. Jennifer Sar scored in the 8th minute, but the Raiders gave up the lead in the 36th minute off a badly timed corner. Nothing gets easier as the Raiders still have 4 games left, each coming against quality teams, and if nothing else the teams looks to at least leave a good impression in their first WWC.

The team had encamped in a jungle clearing whilst they awaited rescue. "Looks familiar," said Thalia Pellegrini. "Yeah," said Rachel Horne, "you probably did one of your adverts here." "Shut up, that´s not funny."

Half-an-hour later Thalia Pellegrini apologized. "Rach, I think you´re right...I recognize that tortoise...he hasn´t moved much."

"I wonder what´s happening in Liverpool England?" asked Laura Jones. "Don´t worry," said Anna Kumble. "They won´t have started without us. In fact, I would suggest they have delayed our matches to allow us to arrive and get ready. There´s no-one else that can be played."

Meanwhile, the Little Tits, in sheer joy at being given their head in the Cup, had gone out against Magnus Valerius with revenge in their minds for the suspicious defeat in the Cup of Harmony. And with a bunch of has-beens and never-weres, there was a sense of justification and desperation.

A nervy win in the first match suggested that the Little Tits would be home before the Blue Tits arrived. But that gave the team confidence for the grudge match.

Even so, no-one could have predicted the burst at the start. Five goals in half-an-hour? Utterly magnificent and Magnus Valerius were destroyed. A rare goal for Debbie Flint started it off. Chloe Ashcroft celebrated her return to the team with her first ever international goal. And Alison Bettles scored a brace from midfield before an own goal finished it off.

Three subs at half-time to rest the team allowed the Valerians a slight comeback but the result was never in doubt.

The disadvantage of conceding 2 goals was offset by the fact that Hiiraan were utterly shattered after their defeat to Jagada and were overrun by a fresh team. 2 in the first half and a late one from Boulter meant the Little Tits, against all odds, had maximum points.

Edwina Bluff was looking at a dilemma. What happens if they make it through? The Spaam game was going to be more crucial than Mr Crucial McCrucial of Crucialand, winner of the Most Crucial Person Ever in the Crucialympics.

Ishtar Women Take Win
First international victory spurs local celebration
LIVERPOOL, July 23 -- Ishtar kept its World Cup hopes alive today with a crisp win against table rival Becquerelia. The final tally was 3-2.

While the final score was close, the game was never in much doubt, with Ishtar taking the lead early and never yielding it. Midfielder Mandy Boatswain took her first international goal in the 18th minute, and the team took that 1-0 lead into the half.

The remainder of the scoring came in a fifteen minute stretch in the second half. Defender Raven Westmoor also got her first international goal in a bold play in which the defenders raced forward and the strikers shifted back to defend, catching their rivals off guard and leaving the score at 2-0.

Becquerelia answered with an excellent long shot from a midfielder, inching the score up to 2-1. Ishtar on the ensuing kickoff immediately took the ball downfield and reserve striker Kelly De Beers put it in the net off a rebound, garnering her first international and bringing the score to 3-1. She was on the pitch for a winded Kamikawa.

Becquerelia struck back in the seventy-second minute, bringing the score to 3-2, but would never truly threaten again as Ishtar fell back into a solid defense that defied the opposition's best efforts.

Ishtar had only one injury as midfielder Tracie Tailor was taken off the pitch with a sprained arm. Tailor was in for Mueller, who sat out a game with a red card, and was replaced by Ingrid Goldfields in her Cup debut. In a scary moment, one Becquerelia player took a concussion after colliding with a teammate. There were only two bookings, yellows to Becquerelia, that did not affect the outcome.

After the game, Coach Miriam Westmoor held a brief press conference in which she did not take any questions but read a short, prepared statement:

"Today was a good day for Ishtar football," she said. "We made a game plan, executed it, and were rewarded with a win. I thought our girls played exceptionally well, our defense pulled together, and we're pleased to give the country its first international win."

Vindicated by sticking her to plan, Westmoor noted that each game now was of paramount importance: "We have to win the next match if we want a hope of advancement, it's as simple that. It will be difficult, and we appreciate all of our supporters. We hope to get another win for our island."

Midfielder Mandy Boatswain also expressed her appreciation for fan support: "This win means so much for us. I want to thank all the fans, who have been so great to us. It means a lot."

Local reaction to the victory was intense and strident. Ishtar supporters flooded into the streets Saturday night, in an outpouring of celebration and joy.

"Ishtar rocks!" screamed local supporter Dirk Hathaway, 21, of Ishtar City College. "We rock! We are the greatest country in the world! We are awesome!"

"Marcie's so cute I want to kiss her! Go Mermaids!" screamed another drunken supporter, who would not give her name. Authorities noted that while the celebration was boisterous, it was peaceful.

"The supporters are having a great time, but in a good way," noted Police Captain Roger Thornbush. "We've issued a few citations, but nothing serious."

The next match for the national team is against the Athletic Paradise of Sliponia, a left-leaning college state in the region of Lancre noted for its superb civil rights. The game will be broadcast live at 3 AM on Channel 1 IBC-TV and again on tape delay at 8 AM on the same network.

Lady Rockies Finally Lose

The Toranat Lady Rockies played their third game in the Women's World Cup today. The Lady Rockies finally lost a game. They took on Haraki, a more experience team. Harakian player number 5 scored in the 4th and 65th minute. The Lady Rockies now sit in 2nd in the group. They are only behind Lexington SC who they will be playing on the last matchday. The Lady Rockies will next be taking on the Marceau State team who are not playing well, and sit in the bottom of the group. This will hopefully equal 3 points for the Lady Rockies, however in the World of sports, you hust never know whats going to happen.

LAKE PORTER SUN

Liverpool England- The Lady Oxen finally seem to play a complete match in today's game against ASMV. TheQUEST FOR THE CUP tm has now seeming turned back into Qazox's favor with the dominating 3-0 victory.

The scoring opened in the 19th minute as Aki Fa'Mau-Tana continued to be a force blasting a 17 yd shot right past Mitsuko Chinen. While the Nyriads covered Aki well, her dangerous left foot still caused problems.

In the 36th minute, Qazox was the lucky reciept of a fluke goal as Danielle Childress lined up for a corner kick. A sudden gust of wind altered her lofted kick and an unprepared Chinen just deflected the ball right into the back of the net. This was Danielle's first international goal and was joined in her celebration by her younger sisters Juila and Andrea.

The rest of the first half saw the Nyriads attack and counter most of the Lady Oxen's attacks, but Juila Kidd in her 1st international start, showed why she may take Qazox to the Cup by stoning ASMV on 5 shots.

The second half saw more of the same as ASMV continued to pressure Kidd and the defense, but nothing went through. The final goal was scored 2 minutes in injury time by the teen age phenom Stefany Heisel who was subsituted into the game in the 85th minute. This was the first of hopefully many goals for the 16 year old.

Up Next for Qazox is Khenas, a team that played in the 1st Cup, but didn't play 3 years ago. This game could be the proverbial "trap-game" as matches with Liverpool England and The Lowland Clans loom on the horizon.

* 14 year old girl in a bathrobe sitting on a dressing room *

"Hi viewers. It's Dazza Dallas reporting on the Women's World Cup 3. Now why you ask I'm sitting here and not outside. Well, it's really windy outside and really cold too. I like here better. And I'm not going to do anything really stupid, or try not to. Actually, I was late getting ready so that's why I'm not exactly dressed up."

<cleans camera lens of water>

"It's crunch time here at Women's World Cup 3. No time be slack or slow. Teams must make their move or be booted out of Liverpool England. Good news for us Angels girlies. We have qualified once again and remember we are the World Champs. We played big rivals Wentland as our biggest test so far. Once again the Angels prevailed. Oh yeah and Dazza had some game time! We won two one and basically qualify as are still undefeated. Oh yeah, finals time and we are serious about make it two Women's World Cups. We've beaten Spaam and Wentland, both great teams but the best are ahead to play. The other games were draws! Spaam made a complete mess when they drew with poor old Jagada NIL ALL. Look Spaam should have won, as we trashed Jagada SIX NIL. Spaam wasted a chance to win really. The Princesses and Hiraan had a draw, 1 all but all too late really. Why, those two teams are eliminated!"

<sneezes>

"Sorry. Wentland, Spaam and oddly Jagada are still in the hunt for qualification. But all us girls here want Wentland and Spaam to make it. We like those girls, and hopefully then can win their last games."

"Group 4 is so interesting! Every world cup, the favourites cruise through and battle it out with their mates. This year rookies are rising to the challenge, but not in Group 3. BIG GAME - Starblaydia played and beat the Paladin girls. Both team needed a win and Starblaydia did the deed, knocking out the Paladins. Haraki charged to 2nd with a win over Marceau State 3-2. I think Haraki are looking good personally. Toranat won again and keep top spot. They beat Lexington SC 3-2 in a critical game which would have seen one of these two rookies take full advantage of current results. SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?"

"Group 4 - Toranat, Starblaydia, Haraki and Lexington SC fight it out. Any loss will hurt and a win make life so much better for. Two teams here are rookies and they are showing the favourites about a fight. Can the favourites show their true credentials?"

"And lastly, you know that team called Yafor 2? Last year finalists? They won all their games and qualified, but finalists do that. Jeruselem and Yafor 2 are doing really well so far. They are staying in Liverpool England for now, but other teams will be fighting to be bitter end to join us. Chicanada made the semis last time and should qualify too pending any disasters."

"This is Dazza Dallas from the Women's World Cup 3. I'm not making up the fact it's windy outside either now. If you watch the highlights, I get clonked in head by accident by an opposition defender! I'm alright, as I run into elbows all the time."

Again?!

For the third time in four matches, the Dames en Rouge lost by a single goal, this time to the Lowland Clans, dropping yet another place in Group 1. The team are now virtually certain to be eliminated.

“How does a team with such an attack-based style score only two goals in four matches?” a disgusted supporter asked, before blaming the refereeing. “It’s all biased in favour of defensive playing. Every time our girls try to attack, the whistle’s blown.”

Others are questioning the strategy chosen by the coach, Sophie Jenkins.

“She should do what Melenciuc does,” a supporter said, referring to the coach of the national mixed-gender team. “A lot more attack.”

Analysts, however, have noted that the Dame en Rouge’s playing style does rely very heavily on attack. It just isn’t getting them anywhere, and it will be up to Jenkins and her players to figure out why

Island Women Earn Draw
Advancement hopes still alive, but much help needed
LIVERPOOL, July 24 -- The Ishtar women's national team battled rival Sliponia to a 1-1 draw, in a tough battle to keep their Cup chances alive.

The first half was a rough, scoreless battle of defensive wills, the gritty play marked by an excessive number of yellow cards shown, three to Sliponia and one caution being drawn by Ishtar stopper Gottfried.

In the seventieth minute, Sliponia's right striker finally slipped passed the Island defense to put one in the net. Ishtar defender Halabra Ste. Troix was tossed out on a red card on the ensuing play after an aggressive collision.

Ishtar would answer back in the eighty-fourth minute, with striker Kamikawa getting her second International goal on a penalty kick. She had been blindsided by a Sliponian roughneck on a hard tackle, who was ejected with a red card for the game.

The draw leaves Ishtar's hopes for advancement still alive, however they absolutely must get a victory against fellow unranked Carvalo to advance. They will also need help getting Virginia Nova and Sliponia to take a loss, hopefully large ones that knock down their goal differentials.

The coach and players declined to speak to the press after the game, with a spokesperson indicating the team was "in seclusion" to "focus on the upcoming, must win game."

Izzy Bunion, an outspoken critic of the team in his influential columns for the Harmonia Herald, again blasted Coach Westmoor, calling her a "raging cancer on the body of Ishtarean football" and a "mentally-handicapped pygmy with a playbook done in crayons," in a widely-watched, post-game interview.

"They will lose tomorrow, just you watch," Bunion promised. "They will end up at the bottom of the table, and be forced home in embarrassment and shame. I guarantee it."

"And what if they win?" asked the interviewer, Pauline Smoot of IBC-TV. "What if they advance? Will you eat your words?"

"Impossible," said Bunion. "They are incapable of advancing. Westmoor wants to fail. She despises our country. Frankly, we'd all be better off if they just left her and her miserable goalie in Liverpool. Our nation doesn't want them back."

A Neat Trick

Coming into todays game, we all knew that Kyla Night was special, perhaps the greatest footballer ever in the ESF. We knew that she could make defenders look silly, entertain the crowd with masterful goals, and was worth the price of admission by herself. Yet despite all what we knew, none of us could of been prepared for the display of pure talent she showed today as the Raiders took care of Andossa Se Mitrin Vega 3-0. Night recorded another hat trick as she lead the way to victory, but the hat trick alone wasn't enough for Night. No, she wanted to leave an impression on everyone who came to watch the game.

So it was in the 81st minute, already up 3-0, that she made the play of the game, perhaps tournament, even her life. Marline Stopphad taken the ball off of Sarah Parker and had what looked like an easy 1v1 with Sharas. She went at Sharas and Sharas came out to close down the angle when Stopphad lobbed the ball towards the net, clearing Sharas hands and dipping into the net. That was when Night came from out of nowhere and through her body in between the ball and the net. The ball bounced off her abdomen, and to the foot of Kries who cleared it.

With her efforts, it was no suprise when Night was named PoTM. Also with her hat trick, she becomes only the 3rd ESF player to earn three in their carreer and continues to add onto her ever increasing goal lead.

For the start of the second half Rorysville poured it on heavy and the hard work payed off at the 52nd minute when Carrie Banner Struck for her third goal of the game as she broke through the tabby defense and sent a soaring shot past the keeper just under the bar and put Rorysville up 3-1. After a couple subs got some time in Erica Soderstrom got herself a goal at the 82nd minute. With the win the Moose continue thier unbeaten run for Womens World Cup Glory.

Surely you have mistaken me for someone else, as I did not, and will never, participate in any Virginia Nova-hosted event.

Another question, then - why is this only being highlighted now? This should surely have been highlighted after Matchday 1.

May I take this opportunity to bring up what was in the bid - the 15% deduction of scorination points for bitching. Anything after this post, OOC, on this topic, including by myself, will earn that penalty.

Dynamic Duo

With the qualifying round starting to close, the Raiders are in a favorable position. With today's convincing win over Ariddia, the Raiders sit 4th in the group, holding onto the last playoff spot . In order for the Raiders to qualify, they are going to have to win at least one of their games, and tie/win the other.

The game though was another display of talent from the striking pair of Sar and Night. Coming into the game, they had combined for all 5 of the Raiders goals, and left combined for all 8. Sar got the scoring started in the 16th minute when she recieved a pass from Kries and charged up field. As defenders were coming in, she lobbed the ball to Night who briought it down with her right leg. As she turned and fired a strike, it hit off an incoming defender and bounced to the top of the penalty area where Sar made a run and slid in to deliver it into the bottom right corner.

The game went on with the Raiders dominating play, but thier defences began to break down towards the half, with Ariddia notching one in the 42nd. After catching their breath at half, the Raiders went on a full fledged attack, and were in Ariddia's end for 10 consecitive minutes before Night headed a cross in at the 61st minute mark. Just two minutes later, Sar recieved a long ball from Walker and had just two defenders to beat. She turned them, and firied a rocket from 20 yards out that dipped right into the left corner, leaving the keeper staring in awe.

The game closed out with the Raiders going to a shell, and just trying to waste time. The last 5 minutes were frantic as Ariddia pushed and pushed trying to get the equalizers, but were stifled each time. The entire team jumped into the stands and celebrated with their fans. It wasn't until a WWC came and threatened penalization that the team finnaly headed to the locker room and left the stadium shortly there after.

"...it´s been a stellar effort from the Little Tits, Geoff, but it looks like it´s in vain..."

"Yes, that goal has probably killed off their hopes...with two minutes to go, how cruel a game football is...matching the World Champions for long periods before going down, and now against Spaam, a team ranked much lower, has snuck into a lead..."

"They are not giving up, though...the depleted, second-rank squad is on the attack again and looking for the equalizer that will guarantee qualification for the next phase..."

"...Layton coming down the wing...she has played her heart out..."

"Bettles and Gold are in the middle...Fraser up with her..."

"...oh, she´s gone to the by-line - corner!"

"Everyone´s up for this now! Cassidy´s going up! It happened to the men´s team, will it happen for the women´s?"

"In it comes...Bettles!!!! GOAAALLLL!!!! IT´S THERE!!!! IT´S THERE!!!! TWO-TWO!!!!"

"The Wentland players have gone BERSERK!!!! There´s a pile of them by the corner flag..."

"Wait a minute, the referee´s given a free-kick...it´s been disallowed!!! And Spaam have taken it with half the Wentland team off the pitch!!!"

"Spaam are going forward...some of the Little Tits are running back...but this is a farce...with the Wentland half empty it is going to be 3-1...there it is and the Little Tits are looking to a play-off...but the entire team is pursuing the referee...she is indicating a hand was used...the manager has joined in as well...this is utter, utter chaos...the Spaamanians are celebrating because they are through and I think I see some Wentland supporters on the pitch..."

"They should get off, this is doing no good..."

"High drama here...Wentland have had a goal disallowed that would have seen them in the next round...we´re looking at the replay and we can see that the ball was punched into the net - by a Spaam defender...Bettles was nowhere near it...ohh, that is a total disgrace!!!"

"Ludicrous refereeing! Come on, let´s get down there..."

The WTV audience was treated to the sight of their esteemed commentators launching themselves from the press-box towards a haplessly fleeing match official, accompanied by the Wentland team, Edwina Bluff, a number of spectators and the Benny Hill theme.

***

"There´s going to be ructions for this," mused Edwina Bluff. "They could suspend the entire team..."

"They can´t do that, we have not got one!" said Geoff Turnbull, the reporter.

"Unless the first choice lot come back," said Edwina. But I can´t abandon these now, at their moment of truth..."

The WWC official was surprisingly sympathetic. "We can´t do anything about the result, but we´ve given the ref a right good kicking. Your entire team is suspended for their actions for one match..."

"Oh no..."

"...but suspended for the next three games. Any cards in those means there´s a one match ban.

"By the way, where´s your first choice team?"

***

Somewhere in the jungle the Blue Tits were making smoke signals to summon a plane from somewhere. They had lit a fire using Gemma Hunt´s glasses. They were starving, the only food so far found had been a pig´s head stuck on a stick and a conch shell that made an interesting chowder. But they were looking forward to World Cup action.

Kodiaks Make Group Stage
Unlike Stars, ladies projected to advance to Knockouts

Eastentown - While the Mens National Side is confused after the disaster in Ashford and the Chicanadan Club sides got bounced hard by their foreign competitiors, it's nice to know that the Womens National Team can run amock and qualify for the Group Stage.

The Kodiaks headed off to play somewhere in Liverpool England and took home a 3-2-0 record from the Qualifying Round, easily winning Group 2 and making the Round of 16 for the third time. This time, the Knockout is smaller than World Cup Chicanada I or II.

Team captain Meliana Rjal of Red Pyramid said that the team was pleased with their final result, a 2-all tie against Rorysville in which most of the starters were rested by National Coach (and coach of Sparta Star Point) Leslie Bilbau.

Group Reports

With The Lowlands maiking their third Group Stage (and locking in at worst at 16th place finish, the Clan mark their highest showing after bottoming in World Cup II. LE, even under controversy, make their run for their second cup. Qazox and Khenas head to the playoffs while, we think, ASMV will play cinderella again and capture the final playoff slot. Sadly, our friends from Risa-Aramour bottomed out in their first ever qualifying, but expect to finally launch their own womens league this year, rather than just send their players to Chicanada to play.

Chicanada easily topped Group 2, and will be joined in the Group Finals by Rorysville, who looks primed for a cinderella run. San Haven, who did not fare well in Chicanada I, surprises all by passing a primed Milchama and a determined D&S to snatch the play-in slot.

The defending champs made it look easy in Group 3, as Jeruselem and Spaam easily were the class of the field. Wentland, last tourney's surprise and 4th place finisher, has to make due with a playoff slot but should be considered a lock for the Group Stage.

Call Group 4 a surprise, as high seeds NMS and Starblaydia got hoodwinked and ousted by unknown Toranat and unherald (but hated in Chicanada anyways since their club sides ousted Finnen and Southampton from the Champions League and that just bugs) Hakari. Lexington SC benefited apparently from their name change by edging NMS for the playoff slot.

The runners-up win a rather easu group, as Yafor 2 run a 5 game win streak to finish well ahead of new side Carvalo and a lucky Sliponia. VaNova, finalists last year, and Becquerelia both end up underperforming and are bounced early.

And in the final group, once again the favorite to advance fails to do so, as Sarzonia ends their run on a disapointing finish. Swilatia makes a good return after protesting Chicanada II, finish ahead of unknown Los Mexico on GD. McPsychoville makes the playoff cut.

What does this mean for the Kodiaks? A lot will depend on how the playoffs go, but as one of the top-pot sides something magical could happen and get the Kodiaks a Cup to go with that Ylompics Gold.

Ariddians avert disaster

Anything less than a win would have meant elimination, as Ariddia faced Risa-Aramour, the lowest placed team in Group 1. Coach Sophie Jenkins had promised she would resign if her team lost, but her resignation is looking increasingly likely whatever the outcome of the Cup.

In the end, however, the game provided the Dames en Rouge with a solid victory. . . and their first win in this competition. Despite two goals conceded, the Ariddian ladies scored four, as many as in the five previous matches put together. Hanifah Kyaw, looking much more like herself, scored two, while Najmah Majrashi and Nathalie Simon scored one each for the ladies in red and black.

“They’ve finally woken up,” said one fan, looking both mildly relieved and extremely annoyed it had taken so long.

The Dames en Rouge now need a miracle to reach the play-offs, or they’ll be heading home early yet again.

Liverpool England- TheQUEST FOR THE CUP tm has reached a snag. Qazox Lost for the 2nd consecutive game this time to a The Lowland Clans team that played like they had to win, while the Lady Oxen seemd to just play the match, as Qualifaction or a Playoff seemed all but certain.

In the 17th minute, TLC's #5 scored a goal that was quite controversial as seemingly she had used her elbow to deflect the ball into the net. This "Elbow of God" seemed to completely throw off the Lady Oxen and only 3 minutes later, #5 scored again, this time using her foot to put TLC up by 2 early in the match.

After a halftime most likely filled with things that this paper would not dare print, Qazox seemd to recover their composure, but it was too little too late. Although Aki Fa'Mau-Tana scored her 7th goal of the qualifying (so far the best by any player) in the 72nd minute, the 2 goal lead was too much to overcome and Qazox had to settle for a playoff. Up next is Ariddia, a team that needs a win badly to advance. Hopefully the Qazox team of Old will show-up and advance to the play-off with Sliponia, a much easier opponent than either Wentland or McPsychoville.

The Island of Ishtar
27-07-2006, 05:37
No mob of cheering fans, no photographers snapping pictures, no reporters hitting them with questions -- just an empty tarmac as the Ishtar girls quietly boarded their airplane for the long, sad flight home.

They had come with high hopes, only to see them dashed early, briefly revived, then crushed utterly, as they slunk to the bottom of the table and were eliminated.

Several of the younger players wept only, while a few of the older pros shrugged it off and chatted nonchalantly to their friends on cell phones. The goalie took it hard though, drinking as soon as she got on the plane and sitting alone.

Worst of all though was Coach Miriam. She knew she'd likely never get a chance to coach the national team again after this poor showing. In fact, if her team didn't do well next season, all the extra negative publicity could likely cost her the job.

"Oh well," she said, looking back into the city lights as the plane lifted off from Liverpool's airport. "Good luck to all the rest of you."

Do or Die

Yes, unfortunately enough it has to come down to this. The Raiders have to tie or win their next game in order to qualify. The easiest route of course is to win thier next game and possibly move into a higher slot. But if the Raiders do tie, Andossa Se Mitrin Vega would have to win their game by 8 goals just to force another tiebreaker, which is highly unlikely to happen. The hope of the nation is that Night can find the back of the net and the defence holds strong.

Can We Do?

In what can only be called the last lifeline, the Raiders made their way into the playoff with a Night goal in the 2nd minute of extra time. The goal was celebrated with cheers from the small elf contingent that made the trip and groans from the belittled home side.

The Raiders can not be happy and celebrate now, for they desire more. Now they must face a determined and difficult foe in Wentland. If the Raiders win this game, the qualify for the WWC proper. Night will be looking to lead the charge, with already 6 goals in the 7 games. She will once again be the hero, or the one to blaim, such is the fate of talent.

Liverpool England- TheQUEST FOR THE CUP tm continues as Qazox dominated Sliponia 4-1 in the playoff to qualify for the 3rd Women's World Cup. The scoring came fast as a returning Sunny Powers scored her 1st goal just 4 minutes into the match giving the early edge to the Lady Oxen. Kelli Renoir added a goal in the 29th minute to give Qazox a 2-0 lead. A late 1st-half goal by #4 of Sliponia cut the lead to 2-1.

The second half began with Sliponia pressing to tie, but a counter lead by the Childress sisters again lead to a Kelli Renior goal in the 55th minute to put Qazox ahead by 2 goals again. The third goal seemed to sap what little resolve left in Sliponia and in the 70th minute, Genny Gump scored the final goal of the match to make it 4-1.

"Yummy. A quick form check! Jeruselem were undefeated all 5 games and we drew the last game to spoil a perfect record. If you look at our Group 3, we had Spaam and Wentland who are in Group A if people are wondering. We do have the best record of all teams ain Group B nd well, being World Champs it's expected really."

"Group 6 had Swilatia and Los Mexico on the same 3-1-1 record. It does mean these teams did make it on well earned merit and played well. We do fear Swilatia as they have played our other teams and they know us pretty well. Los Mexico have done well and can upset anyone as demonstrated already. Carvalo's record comes from Group 5 - and they were 2nd. On paper, the weakest team but it's the results on the day that count - not the past."

"Stats stats stats! Let's see what stats we can use to look the team records. Jeruselem scored 13 goals and conceded only 3. By far the best team of the four on stats. The big stat is the 3 goals for an attacking team conceded. Swilatia attack too! They scored 14 goals, that's more than us. However they conceded 8 goals which means the defensive lines are not as tight as can be. Los Mexico are very Karelan. Scored 5 and conceded a miserly 2. Conceding 2 goals in 5 games is a dream but scoring only 5 means their attacking potential is not like Jeruselem or Swilatia. We put 6 past one team in a game - more than Los Mexico in 5 games. Carvalo have the worst stats of all. Conceded 13 and scoring 8."

"Conclusion, Jeruselem and Swilatia will attack their way into the 2nd round. Los Mexico would have to defend their way instead while Carvalo must improved 200% on everything."

What One Can

Obviously dissapointed about not making the proper, the team headed into this round robin with low spirits. Yet for one Jennifer Sar, this is her last chance to prove that her coming out of retirement was not foolish. She came into the game with a few goals, and left with a few more, as she single handedly worked her way through the Sliponia defence in the 29th and 41st minutes to give the Raiders their lead. That was enough for Sharas who saved 4 of 5 shots after going up. Only allowing a goal in the 76th minute, to give the fading Sliponians a flicker of hope in the dying moments.

"This is Dazza Dallas reporting for Jeruselem Government News at the Women's World Cup 30. Yes, the girls including moi did us proud! We beat lowest ranked team Carvalo THREE NIL. A real easy win and best of all, guess who finally scored a goal? Moi, of course. After shooting over, left, right, at the keeper, being trapped off-side and elbowed in the head - I finally score. A nice little chip over the keeper to put the nail in the coffin 3-0. Not going to say more about the win because JGN sports news will make sure you know all about it! Swilatia had a win too but we all expect them to win. They beat Los Mexico TWO NIL. Yes, the attacking teams showed some teeth and beat up the puppies. Yafor 2 beat San Haven FOUR NIL so they are looking at cup with big eyes but we won't be scared either. The Lowland Clans won big too, but watch them too. One more win and we'll be into the 2nd round."

"OK, some parents have complained about a 14 year old girl with a nice figure, big mouth and no shame to cover the Women's World Cup 3. Firstly, Rachel Kool is a Mum and wanted to stay home with her kids. She's be working at the World Cup 30, so don't fret Kool fans. In fact, ME and Rachel will be covering World Cup 30 - oh yeah - eye candy for perverts these parents say."

<adjusts dress>

"Sorry, dress sneaking down. Back to my rant. I'm a very smart girl. I know when there's a good opportunity to take advantage and make a career for my future. When JGN said they need someone to cover to Rachel, I took it. Why? I'm a soccer player but I never got be a journalist. Now, I am. This is my career move and if I can't play soccer, I'm going cover it as journalist. So, I take my chances to make a name and people who complain I should cover up more - shut up. You didn't make the best of your opportunities and I am. Take some risks and it will pay off. World Cup 30, here I come - as a player or a journalist. I am ready! Kids, dreams can come true - bomb those roadblocks stopping you now. The future is yours to take, respect the past and make your future count."

“So how do we get around this?”

“Some of the changes will be easy enough, boss. We’ve not looked too good in defence. Ten conceded in 6 matches. Chloe Ashcroft does not have the legs anymore and Zoe’s too callow.”

“And with their bookings keeping them out for the next three matches we have to drop Bettles and Boulter. Flint’s shattered so we have replacements for them at least.”

“How about in goal?”

“KC’s still young but is learning. I do not want to wreck her confidence by dropping her, she’s one for the future. Truth be told, I don’t want to affect any of the youngsters’ confidences, but we have better players arriving now…”

Husband Edgar had a suggestion. “I’m still in contact with Tommy Barnes…he owes me a favour for the assistance I lent Crowhurst that once…”

“And?”

“We’ve been invited to the Dragon thing again. If I know Barnesy he will treat it as an unwanted distraction affecting his masterplan…how about I speak to him and suggest we send the girls?”

“Which ones?”

“The Little Tits. It lets them down gently…no-one will mind if they lose heavily…and they will gain a huge amount of experience.”

“Who will manage them?”

“Well, one hesitates to propose oneself…”

“OK, let’s do that, then. Who will square it with the FA?”

“No need to tell them. They probably still think women don’t vote or something.”

***

And so it was agreed. The Little Tits were sent to ASMV, where probable humiliation awaited them…or an experience not to be forgotten. The Blue Tits were back and in force. And whom better to face than bogey side Spaam?

The Spaamanians entered the game with some confidence having beaten the Little Tits in the group stages. But they were not expecting to meet a fresh side. There had been some pre-match criticism in the media because of the metaphorical (nearly literal) parachuting in of a new side but Edwina Bluff deflected this by stating that Wentland had been punished enough by having to field a sparse reserve outfit.

More to the point, the Blue Tits were rusty. The fortnight on the desert island had not done much for their nutrition or training, although they were all beautifully tanned. Rumour had it that it was all over.

And in Spaam they faced typically doughty opponents. Victory here, Spaam must have thought, would practically guarantee progression to the knock-out stages as San Haven, who had beaten a leaky Lexington SC team, were not considered a great threat – perhaps justified by their 4-0 defeat to the Yaforites.

But Spaam’s attacking start met stiff resistance from Rhodes and St Clair who proved Gibraltarian at the heart of defence. With such resilience the midfield started to play a bit and it was an exquisite through ball from Yates that found Pellegrini unmarked 18 yards out – one right-foot drive in-off-the-post later and it was 1-0.

The Blue Tits tired in the second half and Bluff risked a treble substitution on the hour to boost the defence; Hunt, Lee and Cadman off, the two Joneses and Greenwood on as the Blue Tits went ultra-defensive. It worked – just about; despite hitting the woodwork twice and having one disallowed for a push in the area Spaam were not able to break down the 5-4-1.

So suddenly Wentland was looking good for qualification. A win over San Haven should settle things – unless Spaam can bounce back and defeat Yafor 2.

The goalfest that was Group D seemed to have inhibited Yafor 2 and the Blue Tits in their game. Very, very cagey as both teams knew defeat would be devastating to their hopes of going through to the next round.

The half-time news from elsewhere suggested that Spaam were handily defeating San Haven which put an emphasis on their match with Yafor 2. This meant that the Yaforites came out with a new intensity as defeat to Spaam could send them home. Their early pressure paid off with a goal seven minutes inside the half, Forrester flapping at a cross leaving an easy chance.

Forrester was injured by her fall and was replaced by Elgan. However, instead of pressing, Yafor 2 sat back on their lead and allowed the Blue Tits back into the game. Tricia Yates started to dominate on the right and sent in some killer passes with which Pellegrini and Hunt just failed to connect.

The forwards were looking tired and Bluff gambled by replacing both with substitutes Sule and Weeks. The die was cast and it came up 6 - 6 minutes to go, that is, as a Yates cross was headed goalwards by Sule; it came back off the bar and with Yafor 2 players appealing for offside Weeks forced the rebound home. Replays suggested that Honey Weeks was indeed marginally offside but the Wentland players did not care, they had equalized and with fear dominating the final few minutes the game rode out to a 1-1 draw.

With Spaam eliminating San Haven the cost of the late goal was evident to Yafor 2. A win would have effectively put them through to the next phase, only a 2 goal defeat would have finished them off. As it was a defeat would mean that they would be out unless the Haven outfit beat Wentland.

From a Blue Tit perspective the late goal was utterly vital. A point against San Haven meant qualification for the next phase, guaranteed. They would finish above whichever team lost the Spaam-Yafor 2 game, or, if that were a draw, would remain above Spaam. And a win could see them top of the group, albeit it would have to be a large one.

Is 17th Ok?

That's what the team must now ask itself as it heads into tommorow's match, the last for the team. Despite having a good showing in the Cup, the team can not help but still feel as if they didn't achieve their potential. With strikers like Night and Sar, the offence should of shined, instead it hardly came alive. Despite this hollow mood, the team does continue to win in the group placings matches. Stone and Riot both scored in the first 10 minutes to secure the lead, and eventually the win.

On a side note, the squad finnaly recieved it's shipment of new uniforms. The team had been using the old mens uniforms, but now they will at least have their own uniforms for the last game. When asked why the delivery was soo late, the driver replied that he got lost somewhere between Oliverry and ESF.

LAKE PORTER SUN

Liverpool England- TheQUEST FOR THE CUP tm continues despite recent satellite troubles which caused 98% of Qazox to miss out on the thrilling 2-2 draw with Chicanada. Both of Qazox' goals were scored by Kelli Renoir her 6th and 7th of the tourney. Chicanada's #6 scored twice as well , the second goal in the 87th minute to tie the match up at 2-2.

Yesterday, revenge was served as Qazox avenged an earlier loss to The Lowland CLans 1-0 on a 79th minute goal by Aki Fa'-Mau Tana, her 9th goal so far.

Now with only a game against Khenas left, Qazox is in good position to advance once again into the quarterfinals. A win will put us through. A draw plus a TLC draw or loss vs. Chicanada will also put us through. A win plus a Chicanada loss or draw will give us the group. And the result we do not want is a loss and either a TLC-Chicanada draw or a TLC win as that would eliminate us.

Kodiaks A Tie Away
2-0 Victory Moves Ladies To Group C Lead

Eastentown - After a uninspired 2-all tie to Qazox, the Womens National Team chose to make a run back to the final 8 with a 2-0 thumping of minnows Khenas, setting the Kodiaks up for a needed tie against The Lowland Clans in order to lock up advancement. Madison I'jial scored twice to run her goals for the Group Finals to 4 after her last-second herorics kept the Kodiaks undefeated in the Group Round in the past three rounds.

Going into the final match, the Kodiaks need just a tie against The Lowland Clans to advance, regardless of Qazox's result against Khenas. With a possible rematch with Liverpool England, who the Kodiaks beat in Group Play during World Cup 1 but lost to in the Quaterfinals as LE ran to the first Womens World Cup, the ladies might be drooling at a chance for revenge and a shot at their first ever title.

Group News

Yafor 2 and Wentland tied it all up as they head to their final matches in Group A. Wentland does have the easier match against San Haven, so we'll peg the Blue Tits to hold of their rivals for the top side. Spaam does have a slight chance to advance, but must beat Yafor 2 or hope for an upset (along with a tie) to make it in. Sadly, the ladies from Yafor might just be too much for the Lady Waffles.

The reigning champs are in the final 8, as Jeruselem brings Swilatia, who protested Chicanada II, along to the Quaterfinals. We have the Angels facing Yafor 2 in a Chicanada II rematch while Swilatia gets a game with Wentland.

We talked about Group C a lot in the Kodiak recap, but we think the Kodiaks will hold off The Lowland Clans to stay ahead of Qazox and get their rematch with Liverpool England.

Over in Group D, Hakari and LE finished in a draw, giving Rorysville a shot to make the final 8 in their second try. But sadly, we aren't sure that Hakari will buckle under the pressure, finishing as the top side on GD over the hosts.

Quaterfinal draw predictions:

Wentland v Swilatia
Chicanada v Liverpool England
Jeruselem v Yafor 2
Hakari v Qazox

Dazza Dallas is adjusting her skirt ...

"Oh, I'm on air? Hi viewers. Once again this is Dazza Dallas reporting for the Jeruselem Government News at the Women's World Cup 3. Yes, it seems attack is the best form of defense. Jeruselem smashed the Karelan-style Los Mexico FOUR NIL and Dazza was there to inflict the carnage on them Mexicans. OK, somehow I couldn't score but everyone else did so it was the team effort that counted. We are in the quarterfinals once again like the previous two cups. Swilatia also attacked and it worked too. They swatted Carvalo THREE ONE and progress into the quarterfinals too. We play Swilatia next for the bragging rights who is best in our Group, the others are playing for pride. Now who might we meet in the quarterfinal? It's either big rivals Yafor 2, Wentland or even the Spaamian chicky babes. Group B is decided and Group A is not - far from it. Three teams with a great chance there."

<trumpet sound>

"Now, once again it's Dazza's Mailbag. One viewer complains about the fact women are playing soccer in the World Cup and worse a Women's World Cup. He thinks women should be at home with the family and not being immoral by playing soccer. My answer is really simple - get your mind out of the dark ages. This is the modern age where women can do things men can. This fellow thinks we are bad influence on his daughters as they actually want to think for themselves. One wants to play soccer. I say the more you try to suppress freedom, the more that they want it."

<bins something>

"A male viewer asks how my sister Debbie is going. She's running a gym as well as taking care of her many many kids. No, she hasn't slowed down and she isn't growing fat either. She's still really fit and good looking as ever. I think the viewer should turn up at the gym to find out for himself. It's good for you."

San Haven were demoralized but determined. They had not expected to make the group stages and after two heavy defeats did not want to suffer a third. The Blue Tits, knowing they needed to score 4 more than Yafor 2, had at the back of their minds that a goal for San Haven could spell disaster for the tournament so were less willing to go all out attack.

A corner four minutes before half time settled nerves. Yates pumped it in, it was punched half-clear and Anna Kumble on the edge of the area carefully side-footed it back in a loop over the prostrate goalkeeper and just under the bar. 1-0 and the delighted team piled on their captain. Just what the doctor ordered.

The half-time score from elsewhere had it as 0-0 so at that moment the Blue Tits were top of the group – but with San Haven piling forward at the start of the second half thoughts turned more to holding on than to pressing forward.

Then news came through that Yafor 2 had scored, which deflated the Blue Tits somewhat, even though it meant qualification was almost assured. They pressed forward with more vigour and a long ball from Rhodes at the back was glanced down by Pellegrini for Hunt to double the lead. But with ten minutes or so to go there was little hope of scoring another three so the Blue Tits conserved their strength, hoping for a Spaam equalizer that did not come – their island exertions still left them a little short of match fitness.

After the match thoughts turned to possible opponents. The host nation would be one to avoid, but no news had come through from their group yet and the other teams in the group were hardly pushovers. Fingers crossed it would not be Jeruselem yet again - the Blue Tits seemed to be meeting the Champs a lot lately. It was nice to test themselves against the best in the world, but in a quarter-final? That would be too much. At least get to the money matches. Chicanada would be much preferred - but again would be difficult.

Edwina Bluff was not concerned overly. “Never mind, girls...we knew that any match in the last 8 would be difficult - and we were only seeded to get this far anyway. We've got the Olympics straight after this and we need to be fresh for them! Perhaps a better chance there...”

Liverpool England- Despite a 0-1 loss to Khenas in the final day of group play, TheQUEST FOR THE CUP tm will continue for Qazox as Chicanada defeated The Lowland Clans by the same 1-0 score allowing the Lady Oxen to back their way into the quarterfinals. While it is not yet known whom Qazox'll play in the Quarters, any thing less than a win will be disappointing. Other teams advancing are: the Hosts-Liverpool England, the defending champs- Jeruselem, Yafor 2, Chicanada, Wentland, Haraki, and a returning Swilatia .

With the 1st two champions, one a host, the 2-time third place team and other ranked in the top 20, this shapes up to be one of the best Knock-out stages so far in the young history of the Women's World Cup.

"Oh, I'm on air. Hang on!"

<finishes cleaning>

"Hi, this is Dazza Dallas reporting for Jeruselem Government News at the Women's World Cup 3. That's WWC3 not WW3. We don't a WW3, do we? Anyway, the quarterfinals are over and the semifinalists have been decided. Yes, it was so exciting. The quarterfinals had the host, the world champ which happens to be us and some finalists. It was all nail biting excitement, all the way"

<sneezes>

"Sorry folks and folkies! Jeruselem took on Qazox. A close game but we are in the semis! Dizzie Ohmed sent home the first goal after the Oxen Stephanie McDonald was sent off for striking a Jeruselem player. We were one nil and looking good. Aki Fa'Mau Tana struck back when I err, tripped over, lost the ball and she took it and then scored. Silly Dazza. The game wore on as the heat took it's toll on the players as they tried to break the dead-lock. Finally Shinita Habashi fired in desperate direct kick and scored the winner. Two more games and we can take that cup home again like last time. Oh, no Starblaydia to block us either."

"Now the other games. The Blue Tits I think or Wentland went down 0-1 to Haraki. Haraki look impressive in the group stage and the unlucky Tits lost a really close game where any team could have won. Haraki are here and look hungry for our cup. Yafor 2 had the final last time and now, look like repeating this. They had the difficult task of playing first-ever champs Liverpool England. Yafor 2 did win 2-1 and denied the Englanders a chance for a 2nd cup. They look good and will be really hungry for the cup we denied last time now. Last but not least, Chicanada played Swilatia. Chicanada made the semis last time and we stopped them the semis last time too. Once again Chicanada made the semi taking down Swilatia, and scoreline was ... TWO ONE."

"Now, are these shocks? Not really the favoured teams including us won. The game of most impact was the Yafor 2 vs Liverpool England game. Almost-champs against an ex-World Champ. Last four teams have proven they didn't fluke their way here. Any can win and any can take home a cup"

"Now, who are the semis? We play Haraki while Yafor 2 take on Chicanada. WWC2 semis were Wentland vs Yafor 2 and Jeruselem vs Chicanada. WWC3 is not much different to WWC2 except Wentland are replaced by Haraki, and a team swap. So, semis and we are almost there. BEST FOUR TEAMS are here to fight it out and hopefully Dazza avoids all divots in the next fields."

LAKE PORTER SUN

Liverpool England- The QUEST FOR THE CUP tm is over for Qazox as they lost 1-2 to defending champions Jeuselem. In a very hard fought match, The Lady Oxen proved up to the task to deny the champions attempt to repeat, but a costly early red card wore down Qazox and Jeruselem escaped with the win.

In the 24th minute, Jeuselem's Dizzie Ohmed scored the 1st goal of the match, off a penalty kick. The penalty was given due to Qazox' Stephanie McDonald receiving a redcard for intentionally striking a player in the penalty area.

Now down a woman and a gaol, Qazox attempted to keep the potent Jeruselem attack at bay while trying to score the tying goal. Aki Fa'Mau Tana in the 42nd minute provided the equaliser sending the match into halftime tied at 1-1.

But the warm temperatures and the loss of a player began to take its toll on the Lady Oxen in the second half. Despite a brilliant effort by GoalKeeper Juila Kidd, Jeruselem finally broke through the defense and in the 79th minute, the eventual game winner was scored by Shinita Habashi off a direct kick.

While dissapointed in not winning, Head Coach Kylie Rena does have a young talented team and should still compete for the cup in the years to come.

In other Action, Host Liverpool England lost to Yafor 2, the runners-up at WWC 2. Chicanada made it to its third consecutive semifinal by beating Swilatia in a rematch from the Quarters of WWC 1. The final team to make the semis was Haraki , the lowest ranked team to make the Quarters, a 1-0 winner over Wentland.

The post-match interview with Edwina Bluff was memorable and often repeated on Wentland TV.

"One-nil defeat, Edwina...some controversial decisions out there..."

"Some? SOME? SOME??? That clown...that moron...that daughter of a bitch...if I...damn...what...oh, this is just too..."

"What is your reaction about the winning goal?"

"What goal? WHAT goal? It never crossed the line! It never came CLOSE to crossing the line!! You've got the replays, haven't you? On what planet was that cretin living?"

"Our replays do suggest that the ball was a good three feet from crossing the line..."

"That decision was bent. Bent. Bent as a nine guinea note. The whole match was bent. Why were our two goals disallowed? Why? Why?"

"We understand the referee thought there was a handball from the first..."

"The only hand was the Haraki goalie punching it into her own net...no handball, not at all..."

"The second was disallowed for a push..."

"It was Gemma who was pushed...she was pushed into the ball...she'd've missed otherwise...but she did not push anyone...what about the red cards?"

"Our replays suggest that Yates was sent off for maliciously intercepting the ball and Elgan red-carded for handball in the area...I know Elgan is the goalkeeper, but the referee seemed to have it in for her, booking her for time-wasting during the national anthem..."

"We are not only going to protest the officiating, we are going to play the reserves for the 5th-8th place play-offs. We are off to the Olympic Games with the first team and the reserves will catch later. We might get some unbiased officiating there. That official...if I see her on a crossing I'm going to accelerate...what a waste of DNA...the only good thing is that Jeruselem will murder them. I will LOVE it if they beat them. LOVE it."

The organizing committee were going to punish Bluff, but on reviewing the video evidence decided instead to award her a medal for busting an obvious match-fixing ring. There is no way that Haraki, whose squad had not even been officially named, could beat a team so far ahead of them in the ranking on a level playing field, surely? There was a feeling that the referee had been tapped up by interests to ensure the semi-finalists from the previous tournament were not repeated...

Assistant boss Nikki Griffin was aghast. Her team was ready for the 5th to 8th round robin but the ground was not. "Postponed? What do you mean postponed?"

"Er, there is a technical problem...the server's gone down..."

"What does that mean? No wine for the corporates?"

"No, we cannot issue or check tickets...we know that the Blue Tits are such a massive crowd draw that we cannot possibly let people in without checking."

"Oh."

Left with the reserves as the first choicers were off to the Olympics, and having managed to drag some of the Little Tits back from their World Tour of ASMV, Griffin's starting line-up was a bit ad hoc...but hopefully would suffice.

Liverpool England- The Lady Oxen ran into a determined team yesterday as Wentland's B team shockingly sent Qazox into the 7th place match against hosts Liverpool England with a 3-1 win.

Wentland's Weeks opened the early flood of scoring with a goal in the 11th minute right past an out-of-postition Juila Kidd. Only 9 minutes later, in the 20th minute, Weeks scored again this time on a header following a corner. After Aki Fau-Ma Tana scored her 11th goal in the 35th minute to cut the lead down to 2-1, Weeks completed her hat-trick in the 43rd minute.

Head Coach Kylie Rena saw enough and surprisingly subbed in rookie Gidget Zingarelli seeing her first action at the international stage. Gidget, though, cold off the bench, stopped all 8 shots faced in the secong half, but Qazox could not put anything past Foy either and the match ended 3-1.

In the other placement match, Swilatia edged out hosts LE 2-1. The other matches of the day were the semifinals were Defending Champions Jeruselem walked over Haraki 5-2 and Chicanada was once again denied a spot in the finals losing to Yafor 2 1-0.

So the last day of the Cup has some intrigue. Will Chicanada finish 3rd place for the third time in a row or will Haraki take it? Will Jeruselem Repeat or will Yafor 2 get revenge from the last Cup?

<Teenage girl with a huge smile appears on TV>

"Hi, this is Dazza Dallas for Jeruselem Government News at the Women's World Cup 3. Yes, I am really glad to say Jeruselem are once again in final. So, all you Wentlanders - thank you for your support it WORKED. Yes, yes. It was tough, competitive and really one-sided. Oh yeah, Jeruselem trashed Haraki FIVE TWO. Five star Jeruselem and best of all, Dazza score a goal! OK, I did get knocked over by Haraki girls a few times but I'm here and I scored a goal. Goals in the 5th, 30th, 50th, 66th, 80th and 89th minute to Jeruselem and as usual I scored the last one. Haraki tried posting goals in the 40th and 55th minute but we ran them over like a steamroller. Wentland will rejoice as they wanted to be here but honestly the result might have been the same. Wentland did win their game 3-1 and well, they must be happy now."

"The other semi. Yafor 2 took on Chicanada and scraped home against a valiant Chicanada ONE NIL. Yes folks, only one goal not the seven in our semi. Chicanada are so unlucky, but they didn't play us today and so I don't what kind of luck they would have against us. Yes, a repeat of the last final. It's the big one - Jeruselem against Yafor 2. Once again the best teams meet and the 3rd and 4th teams can look on and say We'll be BACK. Don't miss it or God will drop a 1000 pound bomb on ya dog, OK? Just joking"

"The results of the other games? The Terminator chics, or Liverpool England got terminated by Swilatia TWO ONE. Swilatia are a great attacking team and once again, attack got them home against a team who are so good to. The Blue or Little Tits or Wentland beat the Oxen girls or Qazox THREE ONE as mention before. But those games have decided the positions except the best two."

"Now, it's the big one. Replay of last World Cup final. Jeruselem vs Yafor 2. I'll be there and hopefully holding the Women's World Cup once again with other Jeruselem girls. Yafor 2 cannot be dismissed as they want this cup as bad as we do. We have more to lose, they have more to play for. Dazza and girls will be defending until the last minutes, the last penalty kicks and hopefully the Crusaders will be holding the Holy Grail of Women's football once again"

<pulls out a PDA>

"Dazza's mailbag. OK, I don't have one but that's what we have call it. I'd call it Dazza's Yap Yap. A fan asks me what Dazza means? Well, it's Dazaronafishinayasha. Now, I know most people can't spell it that but they can spell Dazza. It means Cute Little Fishing Girl ... yeah, I actually hate fishing except for good looking fellas. Right oh? And some Christian asks me my religion. Well, my mum is Russian Orthodox and so is my sister and all the clan. My Dad is Catholic, and I'm Catholic too. I hope that answers the question for those religious people out there."

<looks up something on PDA>

"Right! One more question - a father asks how a girl like me gets into soccer. Simple, hit the JGN web site and look for the Football link. There, it has links to all the football sites anyone needs in Jeruselem. Just ignore the Nedalian links unless you want to fly to Nedalia which is a nice place for football too. I hope he can help his daughter find fame and glory or maybe infamy like me. That's all and happy dreams football fans. Dream of us with a big cup in our hands, because it just might come true."

Yaforite Training Camp, Three Hours Before The Final
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The atmosphere was one of total concentration. Each member of the team was grim faced as they gathered around their coach, Irora Nuevelt. Irora was a woman, like the rest of them, but she was a legend in her own right. It was her who had publicised women's football/soccer, who had formed the female branch in the IYF/SA, who had given another side to what had once been a male-dominated sport. Her face was cold and each member of the team was prepared for a long speech. Irora Nuevelt was an orator beyond orators.

The face of the youngest member of the team, starting midfielder Jira Kive, matched that of her teammates, but inside, she was very, very nervous. She had been up all night, for the past amount of days, tossing and turning, afraid of the fate that would come in the final. She knew, just as well as anyone, that they had a second chance. Last time, they had thrown away what they had had, against this very same team, and now they met, with the world looking on once more, and it was her chance. No, it was their chance. And she doubted that it would come again.

Irora Nuevelt took and deep breath and everyone in the camp became silent. She breathed out in a slow sigh, letting the anticipation the air rise and rise. She was in no mood to let it disappate. She wanted them to be afraid, to feel afraid, to feel apprehensive. And so they should. It was the World Cup - the World Cup, for God's sakes! She didn't believe in God, but at right that very moment, she knew that they were all praying to God, to some deity or deities, someone who would help them. As was Irora Nuevelt.

She breathed in again, and once again, everything became silent. Thus, she began to talk. "Revenge." she began, talking moderately loudly, so that they all could hear, but she did not need to speak loudly to command attention. They were all focused on her anyway. "It is such a simple word, a simple trait. It is something we all have and few of us want. Revenge was what lost the Rocaerian War, the Golden Walls of Gived, thousands of castles, homes and lives, have been broken by it. And yet, we stand here, consumed by the utter want of revenge."

"That is only human. But being human is not enough to win us the World Cup. We need to be beyond human, beyond anything we ever dreamed off. Last cup, we came here full of energy and hope, but as the final wore on, at last into penalties, that hope slowly drained away. Today, we will play without hope, without weakness. It is our humanity that is our weakness. I know you are all afraid. I am. But we cannot be afraid. We cannot be weak."

"We must be more than human, greater than human. You must go beyond all hope and ambition, go beyond everything that you ever knew. You must be consumed by your game. You must be in the Zone, in a place where all humanity is lost, where your mind is at utter peace, where your body and mind coexist on a seperate plane. We must go beyond the simple feelings of revenge, of hope, of humanity, to go beyond." She stopped, took a deep breath, and began to detail their position, to go over what they had been practicing for each player. But it was those five minutes, the beginning of her speech, an almost Zen or Buddhist call, that were the most important.

She hoped here message set in. She hoped the girls, especially Jira, would play better than they ever had. Because that would be how they would win.

Kodiaks Go After Third Straight Bronze Finish

Eastentown - Another Womens Cup, another Third Place Final.

Chicanada played flat against an inspired Yafor 2 side and settled for a Bronze matchup with Hakari after their 1-0 defeat.

Yafor 2 now move onto a rematch of Chicanada II against the Angels of Jeruselem, who handidly defeated Hakari 5-2. If it's any consolation for the defending runners-up, whoever beat Chicanada in the semis has gone on to win the World Cup - Liverpool England got their group revenge in Chicanada I and Jeruselem held off the Kodiaks in Chicanada II.

And while the Kodiaks are now 0-3 in Semifinal appearances, they are 2-0 in the Third Place game and should be proud to be still a part of the elite sides in the womens game.

In Rabbler news, while the official Qazox rankings will not be out until after Jeruselem/Yafor 2: Electric Socceroo, the modified version used for Chicanada II is still in play for us, allowing us a chance to gage the rankings ahead of the Fourth Edition. And what it shows us is Jeruselem the #1 team in the world regardless of the final result - thanks to the 5 points/4.75 points scale. Yafor 2 would move ahead of Chicanada for second, while the Kodiaks, thanks to those 3rd places, will be comfortably ahead of Wentland or Hakari for 3rd. Hakari becomes #4 in the world with an upset of the Kodiaks along with a Wentland loss, while the Blue Tits move into 4th with a victory over Swilatia, who is playing to move up to 15th. Three teams - Casari, Krytenia and Spruitland - will fall out of the Modified Chi-Qaz Rankings (used by the Rabbler!) after the next World Cup should they fail to return.

Not too bad, thought Edwina Bluff as she took the remaining squad members over to Casari for the Olympics. 5th in the world, only iffy refereeing stopping us from getting to the semis, although Bluff thought in her heart of hearts that getting past the semi would be a step too far.

But the Olympics...now there's a thought. When the rankings came out Wentland would be looking towards the top 4. And maybe a medal...

Yaforians blasted in Women's World Cup replay

In the Women's World Cup 2, Jeruselem beat a valiant Yafor 2 on penalties after extra time resulted in 2 ALL deadlock. Jeruselem prevail but only on penalties 3-2 to sink the Yaforians. Replay - Women's World Cup 3. Once again two team squared up. Yafor 2 had beaten poor old Chicanada (who keep on making the semi-finals and losing - THREE TIMES). Yafor 2 beat then 1-0 while Jeruselem smashed Haraki 5-2. Going in there were two outcomes. Chicanada has lost to the eventual winner twice - Liverpool England in WWC1 (WWC3 hosts) and Jeruselem in WWC2. History say Yafor 2 would win. On form, Jeruselem was the favourite - after wiping Haraki out like a tidal wave in the semi-final, while Yafor 2 had fight past Chicanada. We feel really sorry for Chicanada, truly.

The outcome? Did Yafor 2 get their hands on the cup they failed to gain in WWC2? They fell over and got run over by a tank called Jeruselem. God was truly with once team today, the Angels helped by the God's Archangels dealt out God's wrath SIX TWO. Yes, it was SIX TWO. The girls in pink looked likethey had wings as they danced around the unfortunate Yafor 2 team. In particular, Dazza Dallas - JGN reporter and midfielder had one of those games.

In the quarter final against Qazox he was responsible for conceding a goal but today she was PERFECTION. A hat-trick by the schoolgirl ended all hopes that the Yaforians had on the day. The 14 year old make the Yafor 2 team look like the real schoolgirls as she destroyed all in sight.

Yafor 2 started the better as they knocked a goal in a from a corner in the 6th minute. The Jeruselem keeper was too slow to the threat and Yafor 2 looked like upsetting the Angels. Dazza responded with the goal from hell. A shot from 30 yards which was more like a low flying cruise missile stunned the Yaforians as it eluded everyone to crash into the net. 1 ALL in the 15 minute.

Retiring captain Penny Handi put Jeruselem in front after heading in from a corner, 2-1 to Jeruselem in the 27th minute. Jeruselem went a little defensive for a while but once again Yafor 2 struck. They scored in the 46 minute when a failed clearance went wrong and Yafor 2 scored an easy goal from short distance. 2 ALL at half time.

Now for the highlight of the day. Dazza Dallas pinged a shot from half-way seeing no one for Jeruselem was at home. The Yafor keeper was caught out too far as it hit the ground, bounced skidded and skidded into the goal. 3-2 to Jeruselem in the 50 minute with a red-faced Yafor 2 keeper. The last 40 minutes as a goal-fest with Jeruselem piling on 3 goals in half an hour due to desperate Yafor 2 trying to claw back the deficit going forward and leaving the back vulnerable. Dazza got her hat-trick from well placed corner shot on the 70th minute.

In the end, Yafor 2 girls were in tears once again while God smile today and Angels DO FLY.

Liverpool England- The Lady Oxen finished their time in Liverpool England against the hosts, who had beaten them previously in qualifying by a score of 3-2. This time how ever, the hosts looked tired and worn down and after a record setting day Qazox came out on top with a surprising 6-1 victory.

The avalanche began in the 8th minute as Rene LaTreque scored her 1st goal since qualifing to put the Lady Oxen up 1-0. Aki Fa'mau Tana continued her historical run with goals in the 31st and 39th minutes, her 12th and 13th goals of the tourney, setting a new WWC carrer scoring record. Kylie Rena then shocked the stadium, subsitiuting herself into the match. LE scored but 6 minutes later in the 45th minute to end the half a 3-1.

The story of the 2nd half was Kylie Rena. After almost a year off from competition, Kylie scored just the 3rd hat-trick in Qazox' history as she scored in the 56th, 73rd and 85th minutes to re-take the carrer scoring record back from Aki with her 12th, 13th and 14th carrer goals.
