ooc: I'm not sure, but I think this belongs in Gameplay.
I believe the only ways to improve regional influence are age(time spent in a region) or by getting UN endorsements.

Yeah, this belongs in Gameplay, but check out the first item in the "news" section of the actual nationstates site. It has a link that says "Read More!" at the end of it, click that and it'll bring you to a page that explains it. Sorry, but it doesn't have a link.
