Crewe handed tough draw
Crewe enter for the first time in a foreign competition and and already it looks like their experience of it could be a short one.
In the Champions league first qualifying round they have been drawn against Irkutsk, a team from Hockey Canada, whoes national team are ranked fourth in the world. It remains to be seen how many of Irkutsk players will be playing in the world cup squad but all of Crewe's players said they will come to the teams aid from the cup of Harmony with the exception of Manuel Gucho who only recently gain a place in the starting line up and hopes to keep it.
When quizzed Manuel stated yesterday ," Yes Crewe pay my wages and gave me a chance to make a name for myself, but i have only just got my break for the national team and i intend to keep it, there a alot of quality players challenging me for that spot. I am proud to be a Matey and i want to get as many caps as possible".
Crewe are preparing to add 16 year old David Yonge to the starting eleven, but he is untested at this level and has only played one game in the Primerio Liga

Takil? No way!
For Rejistanians, the name Hades is nothing special, it's the abbreviated name for 2 kalesa'ny, which are not always friendly towards the other but at least got to live next to each other. At a time, where this was not the case and the hostility between the 2 kalesa'ny was unconcealed, the families of Darin and Xesu decided to try to end this hostile state by creating a sports-club open to both peoples, the Majuvedian and the Minokajetians. This club later became Hades Lavamje! As you can understand, the Hadesi do not plan to lose against a bunch of foreigners, whose name imitates their rival from the east, but who has less history than these Taharians. Takil Lines doesn't even sound as if they are a team, which wants anything but parody.

Celtic Get off on wrong leg. Celtic Open up Leg one of the NS Champions League with a Loss 2-1 to Warpstone. The Stones started off early as the Capacity Crowd at The Warplands would energize them. Crewe with a shock win
Going into this match no one gave Crewe a chance and even more so when Manuel Gucho said he would rather stay at the cup of Harmony, but they did it, 2 - 0.
Big players showed their worth Mc Niece was fantastic statistics show he made 99% of his 97 passes one of which set up the first goal and he also had all of his four shots on target.
New boy David Yonge did well and if he keeps playing like he did today he may well just steal Gucho's spot in the first eleven, even if he doesnt he might have a bright future ahead of him anyway.
Crewes goals where scored by Dougherty and Pierre Smith who used his pace and quick feet to take it round three defenders before slotting it past the goal keeper. Crewe now have to travel to the cold Hockey Canada but they should be able to hold on.
Wentland
15-07-2006, 14:16
Both Wentland teams picked up home first-leg wins but went to their return matches in different frames of mind. Tommy Barnes of Crowhurst was dismissive of the trip to Anadyr - "there's no way they are going to put five past us" - but for Warpstone manager Harry Telfer there was a much more difficult task. A late goal from Treves gave the Stones a vital one goal advantage, but Celtic's away goal meant that they were slight favourites.
***
Tommy Barnes was not as confident as he had projected. A sickness bug had lain low Jones, Cooper and Tanner and he had had to call up Gordon Hill, Oscar Bennett and David West as last-minute replacements. Keep this a secret from Anadyr as much as we can, he thought. Make them think that we're ultra-confident - it might cow them.
***
Harry Telfer meanwhile was preparing for a 90 minutes siege. He had ordered the team to be on the ultra-defensive - but for the forwards to remain on the half-way line. Facing the infamous Rorysville Roar, he wanted tactics reduced to a bare minimum. Block everything - and if you get the ball whack it up to the half-way touchline and sneak a goal. Simple as that.

CELTIC MOVE ON!!!!!
CEltic Blistered there oppenent Warpstone in the true celtic Fashion with a 4-0 victory in leg 2 of the NS Champions League First Qualifing Round.on to the game.In front of a sea of green and white with a small contingent of black from the visiting stones fans the Celtic Faithfull packed every ounce of Celtic Field to a capacity crowd of 102,955 the Game started off with a gametime temperature of 93F making for a ridiculously hot match. At the 27th Minute Celtic's Negeuanne Broke free of the Defense and drilled a shot top right beating Leiper.Things would stay tight as the heat dictated play early. by halftime the game was 1-0 Celtioc and the temp had broken some.Things continued with the heavy play unitl Warpstone's Savage took a nasty slidding tackle into Maxime Fréchette resulting in a Yellow card and a penalty kick as the tackle took place on the inner edge of the box. The kick would be taken by Martin Fréchette.Fréchette would bury it into the back of the net putting Celtic up 2-0 at the 50th minute.Rorysville enraged and energized by the tackle would Continue with vigor as at the 78th minute mark Martin Fréchette buried another shot past Leiper that would be followed by another Fréchette goal this time by Maxime at the 88th minute and Celtic would finish the game 4-0 as they would finish Warpstone 5-2 in aggregate.Up next for Celtic is Milchama's Norman Spartans.
"The Fans man the Fans this is my First game here for the Celtic. and the crowd is amazingthey really put us past the Stones in the early going. The tackle on me in the box I'm not going into it was in the heat of the moment so we'll let that go as we are advancing.I look forward to our next round against Norman."--Maxime Fréchette

Crewe trundle on
Can Crewe pick up pace, they beat Irkutsk 2-0 at home and then 2-1 in the cold north of Hockey Canada.
The second game again everyone pulled their weight, playing a high tempo as players tried to stay warm, even Mc Niece was breaking into runs more than normal. Dougherty got both goals, but Crewe's defence definatly where the saviours along with Billy Talent, who being a Hockey Canada national new what the conditions would be like and dealt with them well. Talent made many excellant saves, and the defence didnt let much past them with David Yonge again showing that is ready for this leavel of football.
Next Crewe move to play Bettia's Akani Sands with the first match being played in Bettia, hopefully they can come away from that without too much of a deficit which can be turned round at Moira Road
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/bettia/akani-badge.gif
It was a wonderful sunny day in the beach resort of Akani Sands, just as it always is round these parts - the sort of day when you'd rather be basking on the beach than doing any kind of strenuous exercise, right?
Wrong.
It's time for the Storm to make their Champions League entrance, albeit in the qualifying stages, and Shubunkin Park has once again become the place of pilgrimage for their thousands of diehard fans. Akani Sands name a full strength squad, including their newest signing, Bettian international Brennan Alasanne, who will be hoping to supply the front two from his new attacking midfield role, playing just in front of Nedalian duo Trent Hardman and Sammy Ewene. Akani Sands' biggest threat comes in the shape of young international Gwrlais Devanallt, who has certainly made a name for himself in the latest World Cup.
Akani Sands' opponents are Lisburn Mateys outfit Crewe, who caused something of a stir in the first qualifying round by knocking out Hockey Canada's Irkutsk, including a rather impressive 2-1 away win - certainly not the kind of team for the Storm to take lightly.
And the home fans certainly aren't taking this lightly, turning out in force to roar their heroes on as they bid for international glory. A large lead will be vital from this home leg, but can the team live up to their fan's high expectations?

Dingam-Roh's biggest challenge
For their first participation in the NSCL, Dingam-Roh will surely be dissapointed by the draw. They're set to meet one of the teams with a real chance of getting further in the competition : Carter FC, from Bedistan.
According the the famous KPB rankings, Carter FC are the 20th best team in the running for the CoH... Whilst Dingam-Roh are 101st according to the same rankings. That goes to show what a task it will be for Dingam-Roh to get past Carter FC and into the next round of the NSCL.
But all is not lost for Dingam-Roh. They know that if Jim Bennett manages to play anywhere close to his best, then an upset wouldn't be outlandish. However, defence remains a weak point in Dingam-Roh's line-up, so they'll be counting doubly on Barjona's ability to disturb the opposing midfield.
Jim Bennett - "Sure we've got a chance. Start of the tourney, two games... Even if they are hard nuts, they can still be beaten."
Vladimir Loginovskiy - "It is an honour to play against such a team like Carter FC that has long-lasting success in their league and in international football. But we will still give 120% to beat them. It would be marvelous for me to score, and I intend on leaving the pitch happy."
Mario Young - "Playing in Bedistan is always a challenge. But since we are seen as a small team, it could play in our advantage to start with the away game. If few people turn up to support Bedistan, then we will not be too different from a home game. And when Carter FC come to visit us, we'll have an extra man for sure : the fans."

WARPSTONE Press Agency. -Mixed fortunes for the Wentland teams in the Champions League. As expected Crowhurst made it through to the next round after a defeat at Anadyr, nerves calmed down by a spectacular late goal from substitute Gary Gibson making a rare appearance after the Crows' aggregate lead had been halved. A trip to Giant Zucchini awaits after the Sequor plays host to Nordic IF.
However Warpstone crashed out disastrously, a defensive line-up conceding four to the Celts of Rorysville. After an early goal and a penalty the Stones collapsed and were relieved to come away with only a four goal defeat as the Stones mirrored the Crows.
Crowhurst's win makes them the first Wentland team to win a round in the NS club competitions. -corres

Champs League: Carter to face Dingam-Roh
CARTER -- Fresh off a mediocre IAFL run that saw the club finish 10th out of 18 (2nd out of 3 Bedistani) in the Fire Conference, Carter FC now gear up for Champions League action. Their first opponents: Dingam-Roh of Vuam and Isma.
"Well, to be honest, we really don't know what sort of play we expect from them," said team captain Matthew Clarke. "But we know how to be flexible, so if they start out getting a good jump on us, we can adapt and turn it back in our favor quicker than you can blink."
Carter will be missing starting left winger Felipa Alansa, who is away in Casari playing for the Bedistani national team in the World Cup. Tonya Cohen is expected to start in her place.
"Well, yeah, we'll miss Felipa," said striker Randy Douglas, "but national team member or not, she's still just one player. A good team knows how to get by with a player gone, and we can do that."
The first leg will be played at Freedom Road in Carter and the second leg will be played in Vuam and Isma, something Dingam-Roh's players see as an advantage.
"Our fans are very loyal and will certainly come out in full force to the home game," countered goalkeeper Anita Delgado. "I'm absolutely confident they'll be behind us all the way."

Home Advantage?
The Hades as considered to be already eliminated after their loss against Takil Lines. It was lucky that the fans did not become violent but simply revived chants, they normally only know from their opponents. Nanti fans said full of Schadenfreude: "Thank you, Takil for making Hadesi sing the last division song and 'NilJaDe Nilna, mi'halen viki'! Eventually these {CENSORED} got what they deserved!" Nobody believed that they'd make it through the first round? well, nobody but coach Kiete Jana. When he said in the post-match interview: "They scored 3, okay, this was not planned, but we score 4 at home and advance!" everyone thought it was a weird sense of humour.
However the Hadesi did not play in the home game in order not to lose, they played to win. As Jana'he promised, they were trying to score the 4 goals. In contrast to other teams, Hades did not try to make an 180° turn from their normal tactics, just minor changes and the order not to give up, whatever will happen. The fierceness, the "hetaki tekne*" was something, the Takilans were not prepared for. The takilan defenders Brandon Webber and Jason Gibbs struggled horribly against the counters of the Hadesi. The defense could deal with the attacks of the Takilans remarkably well. Their strength were the quick counters, which made nearly every Takilan chance a chance for the Hadesi. The first chance for the Hadesi was a corner-kick - for the Yellows. However Simu "Kitame" Kyan directed the ball to Siaeli~n Ka~n who then started a counter.
When in the 57th minute, defender Lyku Kansu headed the 3:0 in, everything seemed possible. The Takilans were desperate and it only got worse for them. the few chances they had landed either in the stands, in the hands of goalie Hiki Deteme or were cleared by the strong defense. In the 75th minute, coach Kiete Jana wanted to substitute in Keami Syku to replace a "staminally challenged" Seas Karela. The fourth official was slightly unhappy with this, since he did not know how to show a 351 on his board and eventually settled for 51. Keami Syku was pretty nervous and the foul on Xander West surely was not required. The following freekick was fortunately saved by Deteme'he.
The match ended 5:0, so Hades Lavamje advanced by a 5:3 aggregate over the takilans.

Celtic Earn A First Leg Draw
Onto Norman for the Match Between the Spartans and Celtic.Things started off with a bang as the teams exchanged Chances but both Sweeney and Leal Were up to the task. The teams would continue exchanging chances until the 39th Minute when the Spartan Defense got sloppy and Martin Fréchette Took advantage of the sloppy play and Drilled home a shot just under the crossbar. Celtic would head into halftime up 1-0. The Second half continued on much like the first half with execlent play at both ends. at the 67th Minute Star Goal Scorer Schreider Martin Got a betifull chance off a corner and hit the rebound home to tie the match at 1-1. Norman Energized by the goal would go on the offensive and would capitalize on a Free kick and Daveed Lintooney Would knock in a header and put Norman up 2-1 with only 12 minutes left in the match.Celtic with a flare for the Dramatic would wait until the 90th minute with only 2 minutes of Stop time would score the equalizer off a Adam Negeuanne bending Shot past Leal. Stone the Crows!
Crowhust through in extra-time thriller
Well, after underestimating the little-fancied Nordic in the first leg, Crowhurst had a mountain to climb in the away tie. And climb it they did, with a Peter Davey goal breaking Nordic hearts with little more than nine minutes to go and a Cooper power header securing the game just after the start of extra time. Needing another two goals to get through Nordic just did not have the energy, having seen their dreams of giant-killing dashed, and the Crows now face a trip to Tajikistan in their attempt to reach the group stages.
Qorghonteppa are a more highly-regarded side than Nordic but even so are seeded well below Crowhurst, having finished third in the competitive Tajik league. Although on paper the Crows should get through their international inexperience betrayed itself in the home game against Nordic, being caught with a sucker punch after tiring against a resolute defence, and the Crows were within 700 seconds of the same happening again. Only this time Nordic could not pinch a goal and Davey evaded his marker for the one and only time to toe-poke a Loder cross into the far corner. Loder again was goalmaker with his extra-time cross and with Nordic still trying to re-arrange themselves after a substitution Cooper was unmarked with all the time in the world to bullet home what proved to be the winner.
It could have been even better at the close of extra time but Barnes proved uncharactieristically profligate in injury time in a 1 on 1. But job done.

Qutar Sports News Network
Good Afternoon Qutar, although Cëre United has had a rocky start to the season this year the fans are hoping that they can pull something out for the Champions League. Last year as you remember they were knocked out of the NSFA Cup on away goals, but according to David Hamilton, manager of Cëre United, his team are in great shape and results at home may not have been going their way, but the Champions League is a whole different ball game. He added that a good result in the competition could be just what they need to kickstart their domestic season. If Cëre United don't make the cut in this stage of the Champions League they do have a second chance in the NSFA Cup, as losers of this round are put into the pot for the Second Qualifying Round.
After the draw last night it was revealed that Cëre United will be facing PARANOiA CiTY a side from Dance 2 Revolution, the first leg will be played in Dance 2 Revolution meaning any goals scored for Cëre United will be vital away goals helping to boost Cëre United's chances in the return leg. Pundits have put Cëre United the slight favourites in the first game, with them putting a draw the most likely outcome.

Damogran FC (SQU) vs Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade (TJS)
Damogran enter competition in the third qualifyin round, facing Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade from Tadjikistan. We anticipate that among the challenges faced by our Dragons will be leerning to pronounce their opponent's name, and practicing saying all of it in one breath. Damogran are led by Striker Igor Khabarov and young goalkeeper Pyotr Nedvinsky, along with midfielder Jarri Boskovich. The Dragons typically play a fairly neutral strategy, so we anticipate they will shape their style of play based on what they think will work best against this opponent. Damogran are acknowledged as the second best team in Squornshelous, behind only the phenomenal Vogsphere United, so we don't anticipate them tripping up at this stage. We predict that Damogran will advance on an aggregate of 3-1.

Crewe crush Akani Sands
Crewe this afternoon crushed Akani sands at 5 - 3 at a sell out Moira Road stadium, the score overall was 8 - 3 to Crewe. Akani sands needed to score four goals in order to progress and where looking like they where able to do it scoring two goals early on.
Crewe though turned on the still with Pierre Smith scoring two goals in three minutes and O'Flannery adding another from a free kick.
During half time the Akani Sands manager must have told them to go for it as they left themselves exposed at the back, Dougherty got one shortly after half time., making the Akani sands defence look like amateurs. Akani scored again making it 4 - 3 and was probally the goal of the game stringing together 53 passes and having a total of 4 shots in the move, all without a Crewe player touching the ball. A quick break by Morrison put Akani in trouble and Chris Spencer brought down Morrison in the box , he was the last defender and rightfully sent off. Smith converted the following penalty claiming his hatrick, he and Dougherty seem to have a very good partnership with each other
Final score
Crewe 5 - 3 Akani Sands ( 8 - 3 on agg)
Gwrlais Devanallt - 3, 55
Brennan Alasanne - 5
Pierre Smith - 21, 23, 79 (pen)

Sports: 쇼코 (Syoko), Veernan exceed expectations in Champions League
쇼코 (SYOKO), UCS—Despite having been placed in the first qualifying round of the NationStates Champions League due to their poor performance seven years ago, the 쇼코 폭격기즈 (Syoko Poggyūggijī), the team that lost the Capitalizt SLANI League title in extra time to Sonoma Center, have made it to the third qualifying round, and need only a win or a two-goal draw to advance further. They currently face Rorysville Celtic FC, from—you guessed it!—Rorysville, whom they drew 1–1 with in the first leg. This is not the only excellent performance by Capitalizt teams—Sportverein Veernan, starting in the first qualifying round of the NSFA Cup, recently advanced from the second qualifying round on extra-time away goals over fellow IAFL team Darkness United. The opposite effect has been seen in the Port-au-Honey Hive, who were among the top teams in the SLANI League at the time of signups, but are now ranked 60th in the nation. They entered in the second qualifying round of the Champions League, and failed to advance. These performances are evidence against the widely-supported theory that performance in this type of international competition is completely unrelated to the actual strength of teams, but is instead based on arbitrary constants entered into the RP bonus machine at the time of signups. “We’re not sure what’s going on here,” said Erich Leisten, a researcher at the newly-built Altera Paranormal Insititute. “We’ve tried to pull some strings to get the Sonoma Center Panthers to send us their machine at the conclusion of the CL, but without much success.”

Better luck next time!
This was no good day for the Rejistanian teams in the Champions League: Karela Lines... well, if we try to formulate it as the temple did: The team was infected by foreign takil and lost after conceding more than one goal. The match was so horrible undefensive, that everyone left the stadium or the TV. The team is currently in the temple to be cured from the effects of the evil foreign magic. This of course means something like: The Karela Lines team lost abroad 2:3, since after having conceded, the Karelans did not just falter and tried to keep the score as low as possible, they even equalized and took the lead. However, suddenly the monks of karela appeared and shouted something. Suddenly, everyone, who did cross the line after the score was 1:1 suffered horribly. Great Alexandria suddenly could play against a very reduced squad and scored twice. Everyone who did play in this match or watched the match from the bench was sent to the temple for an 'ethical readjustment' which means in non-temple-of-karela terms: 'torture'.
The Hades Lavamje team did not face that drastic consequences for their 0:1 loss against San Solari FC. The penalty kick, which decided the match was highly controversial. Maybe the referee did not see it correctly, but according to the TV pictures of TV-R, Franseska Sanqesa dived. The referee from Starblaydia however saw it as foul of Syku Lyku (Desnike'tes). The penalty kick was converted by Ian Graham. The Hades goalkeeper Hiki Deteme had "no chance in 100" to stop the shot. The rest of the match, the Hadesi tried to equalize the score at all costs - and nearly conceded the 0:2 in a counter-attack if goalie Hiki Deteme would not have reacted blindingly fast.

Pressure? What pressure? A one-goal lead to take to Tajikistan with 2 away goals conceded...piece of cake, surely?
No-one thought it would be. But by the end of an explosive first half, which saw Crowhurst four goals to the good, the tie was over as a contest. Vakhsh Qorghonteppa were blitzed and the Crows were through. The second half saw a couple of consolations but that was it. Barnes triumphant.

Bringing hope to many McPsychovillian domestic football fans that their teams do not suck on the international scene, Triela Wanderers went toe-to-toe with Fmjphoenix's Sunnyslope FC in a match hotly hyped as "Match of the Tournament" due to the exceptional rankings of both teams - Sunnyslope was ranked top by neutral Qutar reporters, while the Wanderers came third; third, that is, out of EVERY team in the entire tournament.
As the teams beat one another to a standstill, the feeling was that it would end scoreless, both taking home a point; of course, these predictions almost never come true, and in this case, it was Sunnyslope who delivered the killer blow, a looping free-kick taking a wild deflection from Brad Hutchinson en route to the goal. But were the Wanderers down? Fuck no - Tristan Kancer gave Sunnyslop the proverbial single-finger-salute by blasting home a beauty of a volley in the dying second to re-secure a point for the Wanderers

Sikane Sekhika loses fight
The Sikane Sekhika lost their first Champions League match by a 1:2 defeat in New Montreal States against Chateauguay Unité. Manager Vajan Takil just commented with a "Happens! Next game, we win." While this normally is quite cynical, this time the 'happens' refers to the fact that despite the fight of the Sikane to come back after their trailing was eventually without success. After Chateauguay shocked with 2 early goals, the Sikane fought like Tahiakan'ny against a New Montrealese team, which basically stood in front of the goal like the Karelans did in their best times. This different roles made if difficult for fans to define their preferences: "Are you Lines in disguise?" was shouted by the Chateauguay fans, while the Sikane fans for some reason chanted the Hetaki Tekne sing, which is, despite having been outlawed before the vinali revolution, still known and famous.
Bedistan
22-07-2006, 16:16
"...and now we go to Mark Thompson with sports. I understand it was a pretty good day for Bedistan in the Champions League, huh?"
"Not quite perfect, but pretty good indeed. We'll start off with the bad news. Carter faced off against Tadjik powerhouse SKA Pamir Dushanbe in what turned out to be quite an exciting match. Felipa Alansa had finally made it back to Bedistan, returning from Casari after the national team's quarterfinal exit in the World Cup, and it was obvious that she had not let that elimination get to her. Right from the opening kickoff, Carter starts the attack, Patton passing it over to Alansa, who apparently hopes to catch the other team off guard by charging right at their goal, and apparently she succeeds - look at this! A powerful shot from 20 yards, into the net I think before the goalkeeper even realizes the game has started. Twelve seconds into the match, it's one-nil to Carter.
"But the Dushanbe club fights back hard, and by halftime they've taken the lead, 2-1. Then in the 64th minute, Elijah Powell goes down in the box and the ref awards a penalty. Pamir is incensed about this, and one of the defenders actually ends up getting a yellow for dissent, but I don't blame him - I'm a Carter fan myself, and even I think Powell dived. Matthew Clarke converts the resulting penalty, and it's 2-2. But the Tadjiks weren't about to get robbed of two points by the referee, and player number 7 - unfortunately we weren't given a team sheet, so we'll have to refer to them by number only - puts in this beauty of a goal going into the 83rd to put his team up 3-2, and that's how the match finishes, final score: Carter 2, Pamir 3.
"This next match is one we've seen countless times before, thanks to the wonders of the International Association Football League - Sokojiwa and Great Alexandria. The Sokojiwa players knew their opponents like the backs of their hands, and it showed in this match as the orange and teal thoroughly dominated the whole way through. Highlight of the match: Yonatan Mitayel with what looks like it should be a sure goal, but look at this! A miraculous diving save from Cameron Stokes - this, my friends, is why Sokojiwa made it to the postseason in the IAFL, and ex-national team manager Kenter Surf surely had to smile when he saw that play. Just beautiful. Sokojiwa get a big win, 4-1 over the Milchaman club.
"Finally, San Solari went up against Giant Zucchini's Iberia CF. In an interesting quirk of scheduling, all three Bedistani clubs played at home for this matchday. This was a very even match on the whole really, and my personal pick for the highlight is this goal here from Iberia's Yoshikatsu Nakamura - he takes a shot and Amaneqo is able to fist it away, but he gets his own rebound and fires again - but look at that, it hits the post! Nakamura gets the rebound again and gives it a third shot, finally getting it into the net to tie the match at one. But Nakamura's heroics weren't enough for Iberia, as San Solari pick up a full three points in a 3-2 victory. So all in all, a very good day for Bedistani football fans."
"Sure looks like it. Thanks, Mark.
"We thank you for watching Channel 7 News at Six, and we'll be back at eleven, covering all the major stories in local, national, and world news. Good night, everyone."

Albert Hall-Stewart could not contain himself. "Ah, if there were a patron saint of the 90th minute, it would be St Thomas of Crowhurst. Twice the svelte svengali has scored crucial goals that have twice ensured the Swifts maximum points. And top of the group they are having a laugh. An almighty struggle this time in Qutar where Fareham fared well for a 50% portion of the match and led only for the blond bomber to direct hits on the Qutar goal to secure the points. Cometh the hour and a half, cometh the Barnes."

Sikane reaches for the Stars
Sekhika was playing at home on the last matchday when they met the starblaydian team Iskara Daii. Rejistanians were the majority of fans, most the Sikane, others disguised as neutrals. Sekhika dominated the match against a Daii team, which could not compare to the times, when Tuade "Louie" Lue was in the team. For the rejistanians, matches against Starblaydian teams always remind of the World Cup 25 tragedy, which led to the vinali revolution and so it was clear that the Browns had the dedication to win. The bad side of this is however that two rejistanian defenders have been booked for fouls. Teke I Sulateru and Xalki Saratera were too valiant, others close to be booked. The only goal in this match was scored in the 48th minute after the Daiian defense made a big mistake. Sam Wildgoose (called "Sami") scored for the Sikanians.

Five points inside the top 2...Tommy Barnes´team was suddenly looking good for the next phase, thanks to the surprising draw for Damogran and a sumptuous 4-2 win at Portland. The game had a couple of unusual features, Ian Talbot scoring a rare goal from a corner in the first half and Bertie Tanner scoring an even rarer goal from a set-piece when pouncing on a rebound. With Cooper scoring the others with trademark bullet headers, one would have thought that Barnes, having hitherto been leading scorer, would have been disappointed by not being on the scoresheet, but far from it. "I knew the Portland defence would concentrate on me so I just played a bit deeper. Nutter can hold on up front on his own and apart from his two he was also fouled for Bertie to get his."
Crowhurst go into the final couple of matches knowing that they were a scant couple of points away from a guaranteed place in the next round of international club football - in whichever competition.

Woodstock goes Wild
Woodstock Wild travelled from their sarzonian home to play against the Browns from Sikane. The Sikane fans knew that this match was very important and so they used all sorts of weirdness to discourage the Sarzonians. The entire way from the ratansa tani'mesit KaMaRi to the stadium was full of brown and white flags and banners in English saying things like: "How does it feel again not to defeat us?", "Victory means Sikane!" (which is not right even though there is the ehila~oan term Sisxane~l for victory, Sikane comes from another root word) or even "Hippies smell!".
The Sike Sekhika team played a very attacking style of soccer, they needed a win and they tried much for it. The Woodstock team was already qualified and did rest some of their top players. The Browns took the lead in the 14th minute when Selek Kim's long distance shot sailed past keeper $didn'tpostrosterdamnit and into the net. The Wild Woodstock team did nearly equalize the score in the 39th minute, but Xalki Saratera cleared spectacularly. The Sikanian club extended the lead after a freekick by Siki Kansu was headed into the goal by Karima Kama. The second half, coach Raira I Iknet did a kiirii towards more defense and this meant the Browns were playing as if they were the Karela Lines team and were leading 1:0 in a very crucial match. This meant that neither team had any good chances and the match ended 2:0. By this, the Northern club squeaked through in the second place.

England may cry
The Liverpool English team Al-Digoshi was defeated in the first leg of the Second Round elimination matches in the Champions League. All over Sikane, the Browns celebrated their Lasane. The match was very close and could have ended the other way around as well.
The Englishmen took the lead in the 5th minute: Teke I Sulateru resorted to a foul to stop a chance. A free kick was awarded to the Liverpool team, $player shot and $otherplayer headed it past Jeri Kis into the goal. Despite a flurry of attacks from both sides, the score remained 0:1 until the halftime.
For the second half, coach I Iknet'he took consequences and replaced the most horrible players without much of a tactical change. Midfielder Xaha Ily watched the second half from the bench and the female player Jeame Taren replaced him. Winger Selek Kim also was no longer among the players in this half, Kalaxje Syku here was the replacement. This new team played better. The Brows were able to get more chances now that attack and defense were linked better. The score was equalized in the 57th minute when Lyku I Sil just tried it from a distance since he did not see any free player. He later said: "That shot was pure desperation... I closed my eyes after it only to see that the impossible apparently did happen." Later in the match, the Browns did even take the lead: a mistake of the Al-Digoshian defense in the 63rd minute allowed it for Kalaxje Syku to somehow make the ball hit the post and then bounce into the goal. Of course, the Liverpool team tried everything to avoid the loss. not without success. te Brows also had a set of nice chances but were unable to capitalize them. The match ends 2:1 for the Sikane.

Sikane advances
The Sikanian club Sikane Sekhika advanced through the Second Round of the Champions League by a 5:3 on aggregate after winning also the return match against Liverpool English team Al-Digoshi. The Liverpool team lost on their home ground 2:3 in a highly exciting match.
Since both teams played really attackingly, at least in rejistanian standards, many chances for both teams happened. Karelans switched off the TV or radio after the first 3 minutes, which already saw more action than a normal match of Karela Lines against a weak opponent. The Liverpool English teamtook the lead early, but only three minutes later, Wildgoose'he equalized the score after an assist of I Sil'he. Only 13 minutes were played and the score was already 1:1. Sikane's Kami Siki caused a free kick against the Browns when he was a bit too physical in stopping an English attack. Goalie Jeri Kis could barely redirect the ball over the goal. In the additional time of the first half, Al-Digoshi took the lead after an defensive error of the Browns.
While any karelan team would have faltered and emphasized on at least not to lose highly, coach I Iknet'he again showed his Imdilanism by adjusting the tactics to more become attacking: instead of Jeame Taren, striker H~sela Kyil played from the 56th minute on. The Browns now had more chances and converted the 1:2 trailing into a 3:2 victory after two beautiful goals (unless you are karelan) of I Sil'he and Simu'he.
The Browns will now face Sokojiwa Dosi CK of Bedistan in the quarter finals.

Sokojiwa on a roll
Despite having just finished off a grueling postseason in the IAFL that ultimately saw them win the league title, Sokojiwa Dosi CK didn't appear to be any the worse for wear as the team came into Rejistania to face Sikane Sekhika. Attacking midfielder Sū Doŋ-gīn ended up being declared the hero of the match, picking up two goals for his side. The second of these was an absolutely beautiful free kick from 25 yards, placed perfectly between the near post and a sprawling Jeri Kis. Tiffany Taylor put the game beyond doubt for Jiwa with a short yet powerful shot from inside the six-yard box in the 65th minute.
"Well, of course we're on a bit of a high right now," said Jiwa manager ʼI Gaŋ-gīn. "And of course we also know that it has to end eventually. And of course we're hoping that that occurs sometime after the Champions League final," he remarked with a wink. This reporter pondered taking the trout of his lunch bag and slapping Gaŋ-gīn around a bit with it for using the phrase "of course" too much, but decided it would look unprofessional.
The second leg will be played tomorrow night at Sokojiwa National Stadium.

From a letter to the Academy for the Rejistanian language:
May you have had a glorious morning,
I often heard the phrase "jilih'aru'ta" referring to unfortunate incidents like the 0:3 loss of Sike Sekhika against Sokojiwa Dosi CK of Bedistan. What exactly does the speaker here mean? Does he deny the match ever took place?
In the sign of Relekhakansa,
Ngakaleskarmamveri
Honored Karmamveri'he,
The phrase "Jilih'aru'ta" origins in the central rejistani regions and was originally either "jile ha~e'ru" or "jil-ili xan-ta'ru" The particle "'ru" is here slightly incorrectly: It normally implies a certain desiredness, unwanted, bad or simply horrible things (and the 0:3 surely falls into the latest category) are expressed differently. Rejistanian does not have the concept of "oda vaveka", this means, that a qualifying adjective should be provided ("jilih'aru'ta veka" meaning "this was not good") or the sentence should be revamped using the "oda vasejil" 'mer': Jilih'mer'aru (meaning this bad thing happened). Another root of this phrase might be the phrase originating from Snub Nose 38: "It never happened, it will never happen, it isn't happening now!" Normally people do not want to revise history when resorting to jilih'aru'ta (if they wished to, they'd be more explicit like: xkora mje'het mi'aru'ta: Doŋ-gīn'he mi'la'resky meaning: The first goal was none: Doŋ-gīn was offside. That he was is out of discussion), they are meaning it in a form of: Okay, this might have happened but do not remind me!
Yours sincerely,
Kari Ikeme, linguist
PS: Sike is the rejistanian capital, Sikane a city north of Kalimnintan-Maiju-Riandu kali (or short KaMaRi kali)

What a comeback!
The Browns were considered eliminated from the champions league after being defeated at home 0:3 by the Bedistani club Sokojiwa Dosi CK. The only optimist was coach I Iknet'he, who apparently said: "What do do if you were defeated 0:3 at home? Win 4:0 away!" The Browns did not do that but their 4:1 victory in Bedistan made them advance due to 4:3 away goals. Sikane Sekhika played as if their life depended on it. Despite an early lead of the Bedistani team, the Sekhika did not falter and play Karelan but attacked as if their wage depended on goals scored. As if Raira I Iknet became Ryan Howard of FMJphoenix.
Despite that, it nearly was not enough: In the 89th minute, the score still was 3:1 and the Bedistanis (who first "misunderestimated" the Sikane) emphasized on defense. I Iknet'he had used all of his substitutions - the only thing he could do was asking for total takil, well, rather demanding it. Only Jeri Kis remained in the Sikanen half. They were successfull: Xaha Ily scored the most important goal in his career so far when his shot sailed past Cameron Stokes. The 4:1 was the final score.
After the match, Rejistanis celebrated all over the nation. Bedistani authorities siad the celebrations in Bedistan were mostly peacefully with only some incidents.
An anonymous "source" told us that Sikane Sekhika was testing a new method against the rejistani away-weakness and it worked but unfortunately caused an even worse home weakness, but this should not be taken seriously since anonymous sources are in 85% of the cases the imagination of the reporter.

Homeweakness continues
The Sikane Sekhika team continued to be at home below their best when losing against Woodstock Wild of Sarzonia. The Sarzonian team was starting very takilan and forcing the Sikane into the unliked role of the defensive team. The Browns had some good chances, however they did not capitalize them. Sam Wildgoose's header after a corner kick was one of the best nearly-chances, but this day, the talented Qutarian midfielder was not successfull. I Iknet'he did maybe the wrong thing when Kiirii-ing towards more defense. The scene, which eventually caused the trailing did involve the newly substituted-in defender Xalan Ntela: Apparently in one scene, he had to resort to fouling Woodstock striker @@RANDOMNAME@@. He claimed that: "This person danced the keiri like a guru!" (this is a colorful rejistanian expression for a dive) but the referee did not see this and awarded a freekick to the Wild hippies. Midfielder @@RANDOMNAME@@ directed the ball to striker @@RANDOMNAME@@, who headed it past Jeri Kis. The score was 0:1 and due to the defensive formation, the Browns lacked the offensive abilities to create good chances for the equalizer. For the Browns, the next match must end in a victory with at least 2 goals if they want to advance.

NEWSFLASH!
After controversal decisions, which led to the loss of Sikane Sekhika against Woodstock Wild, referee Akamoari Ybaio of Turori had to flee. According to some informations, he managed to get on a freighter to System Karela. A person with the name Akamoari Ybaio was reported to have asked for asylum in System Karela. If it was him, his refereeing style will sooner or later remind of that of Laksu Kynsu.
