Okay. This takes place in the future. Humans are gone and now there is a war for Earth between the two rival races, the Angels (led by Metatron) and the Demons (led by Lucifer). You can only have one character. Lucifer and Metatron are NPCs.

Question - are these races that only appearance wise mimic angels and devils out of the RC bible? Or are these actual Angels and Demons per the Bible? With all the conotations of Divine Power - contact with the Divine / Adversary etc?

If no one objects, I would like to claim one of the most obscure/well known saints for my character, the man who pierced Christ's side.

And King Arthur, St. Michael is actually a Seraphim from what I can tell. Apparently Archangel was more of a title then his actual choir. Lucifer was the Eightht of the High Angels, until he turned on God, which made Michael the new commander.

Interesting choice. I am currently playing Casca on another RP (Shadow War.) What source of material are you using. Remember, some think Casca is unkillable, hence he would have to be alive at this time. I have studied much of the myth, the stories, and the fiction, and I know Barry Sadler's best friend from Vietnam.

SERAPHIM:
The uppermost section of the hierarchy, these are the angels closest to the throne of God. It is they who unceasingly chant the Trisagion, "Holy, holy, holy..." and encircle the throne, existing off the love emanated by God. It is this fiery love which gives them the term 'fiery serpents'. In this form of fiery serpents, it is said that the light they give off is so intense, that not even other divine beings may look upon them. There is said to be four of these angelic beings. They are listed as the four holy beasts in the book of Revelation and are also described as angels with four faces and six wings.

CHERUBIM (Cherub, singular for Cherubim):
Second to only the seraphim, the Cherubim hold the knowledge of God. It is also they who are often sent to earth with the greatest of tasks; the expulsion of Man from the Garden of Eden and the Annunciation of Christ were both performed by Cherubim. Spirits of the Harmonies. The guardians of the fixed stars, keepers of celestial records, bestowers of knowledge. Chief rulers are Ophaniel, Rikbiel, Zophiel, and, before his fall, Satan.

Contrary to paintings on greeting cards and new age book covers, the cherubim are not depicted as fat, winged babies. Instead they are described as sphinx like creatures in Assyrian lore, or the angels gracing the Ark of the Covenant and Solomon's temple in biblical terms.

THRONES:
Also known as the Ophanim, these angels serve the primary function of being God's chariot. But besides this, they are also noted as being the dispensers of God's judgment; acting with impartialness and humility to bring about the desires of the Lord. Having the most bizarre physical appearance of the celestial host, they are described a great wheels, covered with a great many eyes and glowing with light. One explanation given for this (besides them acting as God's chariot), is that they mark the end of the first Choir, where the emanations of God begin to take on more material forms and as such exist in a state of transition. Spirits of Will. Bring God's justice to us. They are sometimes called wheels and in the Jewish Kabbalah, CHARIOTS or the MERKABAH. The occult book, the Zohar, ranks wheels above seraphim, but other sources place them as cherubim, the whole thing being confused. The ruling prince is Oriphiel or Zabkiel or Zaphiel

Actually after doing some deeper investigating into angels I will have to say that King Arthur the Great is incorrect in this assertion:

I've looked over a number of sites with information from a wide variety of religous perspective ( angles aren't just a Christian notion, and did not even originate with them - they show up in much earlier religions ) / literature/ art/ history/cultures etc.

There are definitely male and female angels, and the highest levels of angels don't even look human....and they are of the Divine, not Divine in and of themselves.

DOMINIONS :
Act as a sort of middle management between the upper choir and the lower, holding the task of regulating the duties of lower angels. They receive their orders from the seraphim and cherubim and are responsible for ensuring that the cosmos remains in order. Spirits of Wisdom, through them is manifested the Majesty of God. They hold an orb or sceptre as an emblem of authority.

I strongly encourage you put a subrace for your character now that Tanara put up that site.

So UO-Z, tell us more about the setting - is it on Earth, another planet, in Heaven / Hell and the interface betwen them?

Earth. The Angels are from their civilizations in the Clouds, whereas the Demons live in mountains or UnderGround.

Do we know what happened to the human? Did they destroy the surface of the planet, just up and leave, did the Rapture happen and they all get taken?

Loverly. I (not my character, St. Michael) get offed by a canary. This is why we should build a giant glass bubble around that one area in Asia where Bird-Flu, SARS, and each year's influenza virus come from. Disease problems solved.

Apperance: Figure of a young man. He has Charcoal, Jet Black Hair. His Skin is also charcoal in colour, but glistens in light. His ears are pointed like that of an elf's. His height is 5'11". And at times he can turn into a full blown Fallen Deva (fiendish/hellish look) or an Ascended Deva (Godly/Angelic look).

Job/species: War-Lord, Seeker of Pain. Drow, Fallen Deva, Dark Lord. Weapons Master. Dethar. (Basically a mucho-High Demon)

Powers: innumerable; mainly deals with silence, death, destruction, pain, healing, etc..

Weapons/Armour: Sword of Death & Sword of Scythis (both of which are Fallen/Vampairic blades that are a mix between short and special friend swords), Staff of the Drow, Shield of Delthar, Leather Armour of Delthar along with Chain Shirt of the Fallen King, Cloak of the Shadow Kin, Vambraces of Delthar, Ring of Driak (Boosts Demonic Power), Ring of Delthar (Boosts Demonic & Angelic Power), Amulet of the Fallen (Boosts Undead, Demonic, and Angelic Powers), and Crown of Delthar (Boosts All)

Origin: From the ashes of Ba'al, Scythis rose to cleanse all who shall disrupt the Balance. He followed his near only ally Rose to a castle far from the lowly village from where he was born. He became a full Fallen after a confrontation with a nemisis, Jak of Spades, and will always be the figure with a drow-like appearance until the Balance reshifts to his liking.
