World Cup Introduction:

For more information on the World Cup, its History, how it works, who runs it, and the competitions related to it, check out the World Cup Wiki Site (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/World_Cup).

The NSWC is a tournament for any NS nation who signs up. This World Cup is about to start its 30th competition, and your nation can take part! Every team is given a rank based on their performances in previous Cups, and the starting rank is roughly 200 (the Current 'best team in the world' is Bedistan, with a rank of 1) See: KPB Rankings (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/KPB_ranking_system)

Scores are generated using either a Java program or through various or MS Excel sheet 'scorinators' which use random numbers, weighted by ranking and RP bonus to produce the scores.

It is encouraged for Nations to RP - roleplay - their matches, team rosters, players and such. Good RPs will help raise your chance of winning (especially in the Baptism of Fire and Colony Cup). Please note: A lot of RPs does not guarantee goals or wins, but your chances are improved or this happening. i.e. Two debutant, Rank 150, nations play each other. One has RP'd a few times, the other has not. The nation who has participated should have the better probability of victory, but still has a chance of a Win, Loss or Draw.

RPs can be Team Roster announcements, fan comments, press conferences, media stories, anything about the game, as long as you've kept to the score as posted or TGd to you by the host/scorer.

If your nation is new to the World Cup, you will be able to take part in the preliminary Baptism of Fire Cup (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Baptism_of_Fire) competition.
If this is your first Cup, please indicate whether you wish to be registered for the Baptism of Fire or not.


Puppets have to post with their nation and identify their master. One Puppet per Master nation, and you may only enter a puppet once you have already competed in a World Cup'

This, if you come over all Superbowlesque, is number XXX, which is quite an acheivement on NS. It'd be difficult to do something special, organisation-wise, that wouldn't completely undo all the incredible amounts of effort we've all put into this over the last however-many cups (14 for me). All I ask for (as if you'll give me what I ask for, hehe) is that the participants make it special through our behaviour, RPing, storylines, newspapers and all the rest. It's the summer time, there'll be no football on the TV, and we'll have WC30 on our hands. Make it special, guys and gals.

The Emirate of Alif Laam Miim wishes to announce its inaugural bid to enter in the World Cup. Though we are a relatively fresh nation [ooc: don't want to say young...], we are hoping that the athletic quality of our people shall be a welcome addition to the tournament - even if we do not qualify for the finals.

Details on the national team shall be revealed when the Emir Jalal al-Misri has concluded national contracts for the coaching positions. He furthermore expresses his vehement desire to enter into the Baptism of Fire competition, so as to provide the national team with the most experience in international play.

Oh, and please, act in a civilized manner. Qazox was only making light of the situation, one which you clearly don't understand properly. I have also seen your posts in Oliverry's OTC kit storefront thread, and I haven't seen someone post in such a rude and inappropriate way in a long time.

i think the point of contention is that both teams are claiming the Chuck Norris of action hero fame is on their team not that someone else that just happens to have the same name is present on both teams.

The sign-up sheet was almost filled out, excitement and sighs of relief fill up the air contained in the Royal Chambers of The Greatest Crap Football Team, seeing as the 2 years of training, which was filled with sweat, blood, and band-aids, would be put to the ultimate test.

They would hopefully be playing the World Cup.

There had been a team sign-up at the capital Ferhagid 2 years ago, many attempted, few were chosen to be approved, the rest were given the choice of being a waterboy, explaining the 20 waterboys in the crew. The candidates were approved by King Freaky Mutant Man the Fifth, back when he had only been in power for 2 months. Training soon began afterwards.

Also during that time, the team name, the TGC Disco-Crazed Penguins, were chosen. The team symbol was decided to be a penguin with psychadelic clothing on in a disco dancing. The uniform was decided to have a rainbow on the shirt with the team symbol on the front of it, and the shorts was decided to just be a rainbow as well, except the colors are in reverse order from the shirt color order.

Now all the stuff they learned in their training would finally be showcased, along with the team name, symbol, and uniform. The King was in the Most Royal Chambers Of All Royal Chambers In TGC, which he owned all of. The King was dressed in his most elaborate royal clothing he had, pacing around, thinking of what great fun the games must be to watch. He was to come attend the games shall the sign-up be accepted and his team qualify, and he was to also sign the sign-up sheet personally once it had been filled out, hoping that a King signing the sheet increases the chance of acceptance dramatically because of it.

The players were in their royal chambers, playing a Monopoly tournament. The semi-finals of it had been underway for 1 hour, the timer had 20 minutes left on it. Accusations of cheating were yelled out every 5 minutes. At 15 minutes left, one was made about hiding a hotel the accuser had at Park Place while he was at the bathroom. This kind of accusation happened alot before and after this occurance during every round. And while this did bother the person filling the sign-up sheet out, he was under orders to take out all his frustation on The Lowlife Punching Bag after they had left, and was to never mention that he was frustrated with it, or he would be punished via being strapped to a chair and being forced to watch Teletubbies with his eyes kept open.

4 minutes later, the sheet had been signed by the King and the Royal messenger was called upon to deliver it. They dropped him off in the only place the nation that was accepting the sign-ups were allowing people to be dropped off, which was far off from the building, but it did have a dirt road leading to it.

The messenger prepared for the trip, gave his Royal horse a semi-automatic to defend herself with, shall bandits attempt to kidnap her while he was inside. And with everything ready, he rode off, with the jukebox playing Royal horde riding music that fits a hero, but not a messenger. When he got there, he got off, started to walk in, but then remembered he forgot to do something. He remembered it, after 1 minute of painful thinking, and then went up to the horse. He then gave her extra ammunition for the gun, and went inside. he went to the box for teams to sign-up for the World Cup and dropped off the sheet in there, after checking to make sure that the box for the Baptism of Fire cup was checked. He then rode off, came back to the castle, and told everyone in the castle. Waiting ensues.....

OOC: Sorry, that was actually my first roleplay, so please excuse the unnesscecary parts that make it long (Longer than most things I write, anyway), I'm excited. And incase you didn't read the part with it, I wish to be in the Baptism of Fire cup.

The United Socialist States of Az-Cz submit there application to play in both the world cup and the baptism of fire tournament. Although the football federation is brand new and the people are mostly descended from gnomes, meaning height is a problem, they hope to use their speed and stamina (and limited danger sense) to take down the bigger nations they will be facing.

Since I cant seem to find Legalese either, I would like to welcome all new nations to WC30 and the Baptism of Fire that will preclude it. This is a momentous event for anything NS as we have reached the 30th installment of the World Cup.

The hosts of the BoF will create a thread for the BoF that will contain everything rsoters, RPs and scores for the BoF. Usually there is a week or so before the Baptism of fire tournament gets underway.
