The Lowland Clans Stars - The ASLC National Team
Manager: Oliver Doig
Formation: 4-4-2 - Style 0
* denotes starters
C denotes Captain
Strikers
09 - Ryley Bloudin, Castle of Lisbon*
Age: 25 Nationality: Portugese
Skills: footwork, power
One of the few survivors of Tom Hall's purge of the national team, Bloudin is quickly becoming what everyone hoped of him: a mature leader whose skills on and off the field are examples that all players should be following. Along with Mackallen, Kavanagh and Kellen Markoff, they are the only players to remain from the squad who came this close to winning qualification for the first time in decades.
11 - Jonathan Kavanagh, Vancouver FC*
Age: 26 Nationality: Canadian
Skills: ball control, accuracy
Another part of the devastating offense that helped push the Stars the closest they've ever come post-isolation to qualification, Kavanagh is looking at a new landscape as one of the few veterans of the team. With only one International competition under his belt, it will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure expected of him
03 – Christopher Landry, Hearts United
Age: 29 Nationality: Welsh
Skills: hard working, patient
Christopher Landry was just as surprised as most pundits were to discover that he had been chosen as the third striker for the Cup of Harmony. Not to say, that the call up was undeserved. Landry has been noted for his ridiculously hard work ethic and patience on the attack, which as gotten him quiet fame around Hearts United fanatics, but little recognition outside the team.

Midfielders
07 – Quentin Mackallen, Graham City FC * C
Age: 32 Nationality: Scottish
Skills: physical, passing
Quentin Mackallen is getting old. But, like most football fans in the Allied States, he hasn't noticed. His amazing physique and body shape have helped maintain his status as rock in the midfield, and now they are serving to prolong his ability well into his thirties. With this being his fourth international tournament as captain, many are hoping he will lead the Stars to a victory in the Cup of Harmony
13 – James Kingston, Grand Captiva*
Age: 28 Nationality: English
Skills: vision, passing
The first new name to be announced by Chief of Football Operations Daniel Davies, Kingston's selection to the Stars for the Cup of Harmony came as little surprise. Many wonder why Stjepan never chose Kingston over Konstantinoppolis, because they both possess largely the same skills, but Kingston is without the hotheadedness that plagued Phillip. Look for him to help push the philosophy of ball control and mobility that is being preached by Doig.
05 – Henry Castintallas, Fort Manchester
Age: 24 Nationality: Portugese
Skills: endurance, accuracy
Henry Castinallas was the first of the surprise picks for the Stars. There were several players Doig looked over to select Castinallas, all with more skill than Castinallas, but they all lacked what Doig called “it.” Apparently he found it in Castinallas. He's known more for his hard work, like many of the new selections, as well as his uncanny accuracy of his passes. Many pundits though, after the shock of the selection, see that Castinallas has plenty of time to develop skill that will benefit him further down the road.
10 – Iska Djukashenki, FK Sarajevo
Age: 19 Nationality: Serbian
Skills: footwork, passing
Another huge surprise for Daniel Davies, many are not exactly sure what to with the selection of Djukashenki. Clearly a talented player, also has a quiet manner and style of leadership about him (he captained his youth squad and is an associate captain for Sarajevo), but lacking in professional experience. Doig has said that he's not always looking for the most talent, but the most chemistry, and he sees Djukashenki as bringing it in the future. Not expected to get much playing time, but definitely an injection of fresh blood and thinking into the midfield.

Wingers
04 – Krotos Daganopoulis, Highlanders*
Age: 22 Nationality: Greek
Skills: speed, crossing
Krotos Daganopoulis was one of the least shocking surprises of the team that Daniel Davies put together with the assistance of new manager Oliver Doig. Daganopoulis' work ethic and speed were well known, making him a key addition to the Highlanders squad. His comfort on the wing and his crossing ability are arguably the best in the Allied States. The main reason he was kept off the team for the World Cup was his youth and consistency problems
01 – Jason Yulaniche, Sheppard's Well*
Age: 27 Nationality: Albanian
Skills: speed, vision
The selection of Yulaniche was not many critics first choice for a starting winger spot of the Stars, but his talents gel well with the team as a whole, leading many beleaguered pundits to believe that this choice was the most orthodox choice of the whole team. With a young and inexperienced team, Yulaniche's speed and vision are expected to allow his to support the defence, as well as play up and make many of his now famous runs to attack the goal.
07 – Elliott Deldier, Graham City FC
Age: 23 Nationality: Canadian
Skills: physical, speed
Deldier was another unorthodox selection to the Stars. A strapping winger whose size and speed make it difficult to stop, he his renowned to draw ridiculous amounts of fouls to those trying to take him down. His physical size make it difficult to defend against him, and his speed makes it even more difficult to predict exactly where he's going to play upfield.

Central Defenders
15 – Kellen Markoff, Glasgow United*
Age: 25 Nationality: English
Skills: containment, vision
Markoff was the last veteran to be announced to have a place on the Cup of Harmony squad, much to the relief of critics everywhere, whose hearts were about to collapse from the surprise of many of the selections. Markoff's main talents lie in his ability to contain the main threats to the goal, and use his superb field of vision to prevent any attack using his target.
14 – Ryan O'Rory, Dublin Clovers*
Age: 31 Nationality: Irish
Skills: physical, vision
O'Rory was another surprising choice for the Stars. Thought to be a player whose best days were behind him, he surprised most domestic fans with a great season for the Clovers, aiding them to produce one of the toughest defences around. He uses his size and vision to block runs forward, intercepting passes and generally wreaking havoc with on the opposing teams attack.
06 – Rugar Jagr, Limassol United
Age: 28 Nationality: Croatian
Skills: physical, containment
Rugar Jagr is considered a good, if a bit strange choice. Jagr is a massive man, adding up with the rest of the team to produce a physically impressive Stars, who hope to fix the deficiencies of the smaller, more attacking focused Stars of Westley Stjepan. His size is very complementary to his read of attacks, helping him contain threats before they become dangerous.

Wing backs
08 – Yuri Kvendazi, Graham City FC*
Age: 26 Nationality: Bosnian
Skills: speed, disruption
Yuri was a little more expected choice, as he was a dark horse for the expected choices. Critics have noticed that his skills at getting a disrupting touch on the ball really slows the attack down, forcing the attackers to move the ball away at a disadvantage. His speed helps him keep with even the peskiest of attacker, though some have questioned his physical health and endurance.
19 – Garry Delvecchio, Heartland Central*
Age: 22 Nationality: Canadian
Skills: disruption, power
Delvecchio was one of Tom Hall's favorite players when he was managing Heartland Central, and it's no surprise that he is on this team. His powerful foot and ability to seemingly touch every ball that comes within ten feet of him no matter who is on it fits well and fills a much needed niche in this team. He's expected to provide leadership as his experience gains and stiffen up a weak back end.
16 – Szlavko Koblina, FK Sarajevo
Age: 24 Nationality: Slovenian
Skills: containment, passing
Szlavko Koblina was another surprising choice. Part of the successful attacking defence of at Sarajevo, Koblina uses his containment ability to slow down the attack, but is also a hub of the back of the play. His ability to get passes anywhere he needs often prove fatal, as opposing defences are unable to deal with the surprise runs and attacks.

Keepers
00 – Darien Santander, Okehampton Citizen*
Age: 23 Nationality: English
Skills: quick, deflection
Darien Santander is another strong keeper from the Okehampton Citizen. His young age and relative inexperience to many of the keepers in the Premiership really raised a lot of eyebrows. His skills are definitely up there, and his quickness and ability to get at least a hand on any ball that comes near him is supernatural. However, he has a tendency to freeze up in tense situations.
99 – Figo Dentarilla, Hearts United
Age: 30 Nationality: Portuguese
Skills: experience, holding
Figo Dentarilla was very surprising choice. Dentarilla’s age was seen as a major limiting factor, and despite his ability to swallow up balls and let only a handful of rebounds go free, he was seen as past his prime. But Davies defended him against all attacks, saying that his age will not effect his performance.

Becquerelia

Puntaforia Football Invitational Preview

Group B

http://www.geocities.com/becquerelia/images/thelowlandclans.gif
The Lowland Clans
Composition of team: A squad

The best team in the group sends their best team to play. A oddity among the 16 teams in the invitational, they decided to send their National Team. Perhaps the team will be worn out from World Cup qualifying and won't do as well as they would like in the tournament? We can hope, can't we?

Projected Finish: First

http://www.geocities.com/becquerelia/images/becquerelia.gif
Becquerelia
Composition of team: B squad

While not as experienced as The Lowland Clans' National Team, the Becquerelia B-squad isn't that green on the world stage. Almost half the squad has played in the U-21 World Cup. Blaise Rouillard was a member of the National Team for quite some time. Head Coach John Meurer was a assistant coach of the National Team for two World Cup qualification attempts. This level of experience might give the B squad a edge in the Invitational.

Projected Finish: Second

http://www.geocities.com/becquerelia/images/newmontrealstates.gif
New Montreal States
Composition of team: High School Squad

In the grand tradition of New Montreal States, a team of high schoolers are being sent to play in the Invitational. While that might cause the average football fan to scoff, those in the know will remember that for quite some time, NMS sent high school teams to represent the country in World Cups. Furthurmore, these high schoolers would proceed to do very well in said cups. However, that was then, and this is now.

Projected Finish: Third

http://www.geocities.com/becquerelia/images/milchama.gif
Milchama
Composition of team: C squad

Milchama have been around international competition for quite some time, but had disappeared for a bit before trying to make another attempt at World Cup qualification. As of press time, it looked as if the Michama national team was propbably going to fail in their attempt to qualify for the finals of the World Cup. One has to wonder just how good this country's C team is going to be.

Projected Finish: Fourth

OOC:Liga Developmente is basicly the B league in VN. It's teams play in the smaller markets and it's also used to train Prsopects and foreign players to get them used to Virginia Nova. so I'll probably use Foreign player's in my Roster. We are using a defensive 5-2-3

High School Squads for Invitational

vs. The Lowland Clans

The Paladins and the Stars haven't met since CoH 16, where the States edged out the Stars at the Paladin Dome. How we will fare on the road against these guys remains to be determined, but since this is their national side, they should be considered early favorites. Medlerville High has past experience against the Clans, although none of the students has ever played them.

Having written us off for dead, the Paladins are determined to show them the fate of those who question their abilities on the pitch. vs. Milchama

Assigned to take on one of our foremost national rivals is Frog's Academy, long the gold standard of the Ligues Scholastiques. From dispatching Bedistan and Nikea in the first coming to challenging Tadjikistan and Starblaydia in the second, the Academy is the pride of NMS High School football with a proud tradition of spitting in the faces of those who would challenge the ascent of the States. This generation is no less keen than their predecessors in this pursuit, and are eager to face up both to the Warriors and their past. A pair of famous alums have volunteered their time off between qualifiers to help out their alma mater...

Liverpool England crush Virginia Nova
Liverpool England have claimed their first three points of the PFI from Virginia Nova, at Ferma D'Accanto Ce, in the second match of 20 to be played on this ground, which has raised concerns among the Liverpool England team about the state of the pitch.

"With so many games on this pitch, it's going to get impossible to play very soon. There are an average of two games a day on this pitch, it just won't work! All three of our group games are to be played here, and that's a cause for concern."

The team only aloud 4 shots. The next game will be June 28th against Liverpool England where the team looks to improve to 2-0.

OOC: I would have liked to have waited for Yafor 2's roster, but what's one going to do...

Hamptonians lose at next-to-last last minute

Hamptonians and Fire-Elleve fans were shocked at the squad's last minute defeat at the opening match of the Puntafora Football Invitational. The Fire-Elleves were against the much more established team from Yafor 2.

Amalric Jensen scored the match's first goal at the ten minute mark. The Yaforite team quick answered with a quick series of four shots, the last of which was just out of reach of goalkeeper Jan von Rosen. The game remained tied until the eighty-eighth minute when the Yaforites scored on a penalty kick.

After the match Assistant Coach Baudouin Angermannus told the press that starting goalkeeper Jan von Rosen sprained his right ankle during the game. "We have our medical team looking at it," he told reporters during the post-game interview, "and things look good. I don't know if he'll be out there for our game on the 28th, but Bob Creutz is more than ready to take the reigns."

(OOC:Sorry, Hamp'! Here's my roster, I'll get a match report up in a bit. This is copied from the last U21 thread - I've got no time to update it. Sorry)

Silver Wolves Roster

* - denotes starter

Manager: Isilvarnon Moraedenshar - Ramen United (LIDYT First Division). Moraedenshar is one of the top managers in the entire LIDYT. He is regarded as an expert with younger players and amteurs, having experience in both fields. Nonetheless, with the LIDYT season in full swing, he is not expected to divert all his time to the Under-21 World Cup. His performance in the last Under-21 World Cup was rudimentry, but succeeded in what he was trying to do. Now, with the hopes of a sport-failing nation on his back, he looks to bring the Yaforites to sporting glory.

*1) Imon Juile (16), Goalkeeper. Juile is quite easily a starter. While, according to LIDYT regulations, is not allowed to participate, is still thye up-and-coming star of the LIDYT systems. Juile is althetic (some Universities looked to recruit him to basketball) and lithe, with strong arms and legs. His 6'4" frame is good in goal, where he shines on the field.

2) Vyas Huve'ed (19), Goalkeeper. Huve'ed is a journalist's dream story. He was born into poverty in a small tribe in the Killany Mountains. His people were relocated during the change of that area into a national park, and on the journey, his father perished, falling off of a cliff. His mother soon followed, with diease her killer. Somehow, the young boy survived and is now on the field, a back-up, but glad to be somewhere.

*3)Loerd Kiserta (18), Right Defender. Kiserta, son of a steel tycoon, has had, throughout his life, the best of everything. He has enhanced his love of the sport, playing on flat, green, grass and with former stars as his coaches. A child like that is bound to succeed, especially when money comes into play with a broke Football/Soccer Federation.

4)Point Yuiolko (16) Right Defender. Yuiolko is tough, on the field and off. Of all of the myriad of Yaforite U-21 Players, he has attracted the most attention, from his consistent antics on the field, to his behavior off. He had been in jail eleven times, and has been suspended more. He is fairly skilled, but his behavior does not guarentee he will succeed in the future.

*5)Lhatis Riegan (17) Center Defender. Riegan is one of the star defenders of the team. A midfielder at heart, he agreed to try this position which would more uniquely suit his body frame and skills. He had since excelled, showing skill and maturity that are reserved for people far past his age and his experience. A game breaker, Riegan usually faces off with the opposing star and, more often than not, wins.

*6)Klientar Loverado (17) Center Defender. In Riegan's shadow, Loverado is able. He has the body skill and the structure that a defender needs, but is not nearly as skilled as his counterpart. However, he is tough and is rarely injured, and would be an asset on any LIDYT team.

*7)Omon Nomo (18) Center Defender. "Nomo! Nomo!" his fans cheer when he comes on to the field. He is quite a well known star, ever since he made it to the Imperial Yaforite Top Footballers/Soccer Plays List in a surprising 6th. Women swoon over his face and his endorsements are nearing the record set by Iktam Velastros (who, ironically, was 5th in the list). Regarded by some as the natural successor, his success here will guarentee Yaforite success in the long run.

*8)Vihada Re'es (15) Left Defender. Re'es is a loner. Not much is known about him, his family, or anyone close to him. He shuts the press out of his life, and follows no one. His teammates barely know him, but he can certainly play the game well!

9)Plot Tlop (20) Left Defender. A fairly obese back-up, Tlop no doubt only made it on the team after his parents, two rich lawyers, gave a massive donation to the IYF/SA.

*10)Vierd Kiersones (16) Right Midfielder. Kiersones is tough and fast. His skills are many, with ball control the most important part. He is, in some ways, an integral part of this defense, for he often shuts down the opposing midfielder, cutting down the opponent's plan. Kiersones is fast and can outpace most players on the circuit, but his medium-sized body and fair height often make teams overlook or ignore him.

11)Poerta Nueveles (20) Right Midfielder. A back-up to Kiersones, Nueveles is also good. Though slightly chubby anf older, Nueveles can handle the ball with a magnificence the dazzles the opponent. He has a tendancy to dribble forever, and then, finally, lose the ball, but he rarely stays in long enough to do that much damage.

*12)Mosada Juhan (16) Center Midfielder. Juhan is often lost in the buzz of the Yaforite media. The real stars are always the defense in Yafor 2, but it is Juhan who holds the attack together. He doesn't take flamboyent shots, nor steal the glow with amazing passes, but his simple mastery of the basics of the game are what keep the offense intact the whole time.

13)Loiuniou Pasanda (18) Center Midfielder/Defender. A versitile back-up, Pasanda is skilled, but is, in some ways, a "super-substitute" who can play all positions with average skill when someone, a start usually, is injured. It takes real will to do that, and will is something Pasanda has in plenty.

*14)Hierna Klienta (19) Left Midfielder. A fast, tough, smart midfielder, Klienta often seems like a defender, with his mentality tilted that way. But most Yaforite players are like that, great believers in the power of the defense. But when Klienta scores on a thunderous shot, is it difficult to remember what his real skills are.

15)Dikerast Poverino (20)Left Midfielder. A back-up who contrasts with Klienta immensely, in that he attacks and often seems like a starting midfielder. Sometimes, coaches and managers use the two in a tandem to befuddle the other team and the opposing players. It often succeeds, in fact.

*16)Zyante Meleherat (18) Striker. Meleherat is the headline-maker, the man with the headers and surprise goals, and the fancy moves, and all the rest of it. He is not overly concieted in his private life, but on the field, with his ring of long hair flying about his face, he seems like the idiot attacker who is always winning.

*17)Imorando Damachelek (18) Striker. A counter to Meleherat's skill, Damachelek always lurks. He has skills in ball handling, but his setting up of Meleherat is masterful. The two are good friends on and off the field, and share dorm rooms together. Teams tend to forget about him, and then he strikes, like a viper. His nickname is also that, "The Viper". And his bite is very, very, deadly.

18) Stuant MacGilesar (20) Striker. A back-up with moderate skill, there is not much to be said about him, except that he only play when the Yaforites are up by six, which hs very rare.

OOC:The Silver Wolves will be playing in a 5-3-2.Opponents will be allowed only to choose scorers and godmode scoring events.

Karo Earns Point For U21s
Haraki 'B' Squad held to draw

Down in Pacitalia, Starblaydia'sUnder-21s have been chucked in at the deep end. The only thing is, however, they're considered to be the sharks. Thanks to Starblaydia's excellent Under-21 programme - which has lasted for over half a century now - the Under-21s are thought of as better than even near-neighbours The Lowland Clans national team. Put that in your Allied States' pipe and smoke it.

Starblaydia, who lined up with their strongest squad and brought on González, Volaré and Kaza Matranga, had to come back from 1-0 down after Haraki's second-string side took the lead in the first half, capitalising on Darijo Cravex's hard tackle on their striker and scoring through neat play from the resulting free-kick. Cravex, 17, was convinced of the legality of his challenge.

"I got the ball first, as every Starblaydi defender is trained to do," he said, "this foreign referee obviously didn't play to fair rules, and I'm still sure it was a perfectly fine tackle."

Perfectly fine if you like to be taking strikers down at the back of their knees, perhaps, but, to be fair, he did get the ball before the man. Bloody foreigners. Talenii Karo, the versatile female midfielder who recently signed her first contract with FC Farça, pulled Starblaydia back level with a goal in the second half, breaking forward from midfield to play a one-two with Lawrence Asante and drilling the ball low past the Haraki 'keeper.

Starblaydia face the best in Pacitalia next, a team who they only ever seem to draw with. For the sake of the top-seeded team getting out of this group, a win against the Blue Foxes - who defeated Bostopia's Under-19s today - would be very nice indeed.

Rorysville and The Eagles of Virginia Nova Tie Up at nill
Is this a Crisis in RV Soccer the A squad just getting it's first win and now the B squad at 0-1-1 Things are looking rather grey at the moment.so far The B squad has yet to score a goal in the Punta Football Invitational. Though they are 3rd in the Group and with a win against Liverpool England they can advance to the next round provided Quakmybush losses to Virginia Nova. There are other scenerios but that is the easiest one as the others involove Goal Differential. On to the Game In the First Half RV castaway Alex Canderlyn had a great shot as he broke through the Defese and rifled a shot at the lower corner but Arthur Magnatosk of RV State Fame made a spectacular Save just as he did in the RVCSA Finals to lead RV State over RV Coast Guard Academy. That ws the highlight of the half and the game as in the second half the teams exchanged chances leading up and into the added time.
"Well I think we'vefound our game now and if we can get the offense going we have a shot against Liverpool England. Liverpool Is sitting atop this group and will stay there so we might be able to catch them by suprise."--Coach Merriles

BECQUERELIA BEATS HIGH SCHOOLERS
Scores Important Early Win In Puntaforia Invitational

PUNTAFORIA, PACITALIA(JNS) - The New Montreal States came into the Puntaforia Football Invitational with a interesting idea. To give several young Paladins experience on the world stage, they would send three high-school teams to Pacitalia to face off against their opponents.

The youngsters did get some valuble experince, and played the Black Cats B-squad tough, but couldn't overcome the veteren play of the Becquerelians.

The Polyvalente St-Edouard-de-La-Rive team came out strong early, possibly spurred on by comments made in a partisan Becquerelian sports magazine regarding their chances in the tournament. The offense came fast and furious early, as the high schoolers got off three shots on goal before the Becquerelians could even get one.

The first shot on goal for the National Team was important though, as Ahmad Makhoul beat the NMS defense and scored in the 22nd minute. From there on, the game was mostly dominated by the Becquerelians.

One sad note came before the half, as team captain Titian Malstrom was injured attempting to get head a ball coming in from the NMS keeper. He and Paladin defender Wilson Farmer tangled up, and Malstrom ended up hitting his head hard on the ground. Early doctor's reports say that he suffered a concussion that could take him out of action for the rest of the first round of Invitational Play.

However, Malstrom's replacement off the bench, Arik Dotan, seemed to be a capable replacement, and he scored Becquerelia's game winning goal in the 60th minute, with a nifty move to break past two NMS defenders and bury the shot in the top corner of the net out of Goalkeeper Charles Thivierge outstreched hands.

Becquerelia next plays Milchama, who lost their first game 4-0 against Group B leading The Lowland Clans.

BLACK CATS MOVE ON
Victory Over Milchama Guarantees Advancement

PUNTAFORIA, PACITALIA(JNS) - Becquerelia shut out Milchama to win their second game of the Puntaforia Football Invitational, and to guarantee a spot in the second round.

"This is all very exciting," said Head Coach John Meurer. "We're playing better than I honestly could have expected."

The game featured another great game from ex-backup Forward Arik Dotan, who scored one goal in the 26th minute, and got the ball to Midfielder David Livnat off a corner kick for the National Team's second goal in the 37th minute.

"In all honestly, I'm just excited to get the opportunity to play on a world stage like this," said Dotan after the game. "I feel bad for Titian Malstrom, who's still recovering. This is his spot, I'm just trying to fill in as best I can."

Because Becquerelia is guaranteed a spot in the next round of the invitational, Coach Meurer has decided to sit some of the starters to keep them fresh for the next round. Midfielder Celestine Lamprecht will start for Ahmad Makhoul in the game against The Lowland Clans. Also, Defender Saad Bechir will replace Blaise Rouillard, Defender Shaul Galili will replace Felix Weltzin, and Goalkeeper Benyamin Avital will replace Serapion Petchulis. Meurer was quick to insist that these are only temporary changes.

OOC: W00T! Third-Place! I have to say, Pacitalia, that you ran a good tourney, even if you didn't get the RP-level you probably would have prefered.

OOC: Yeah, but I expected lax RPing especially since the WC is on. But at least the tournament's name and success level is out there, if anything at all! :)

the lack of RP may be due to running it during the WC, but dont worry ill be in the next one :D
