A Modified World
A Modified World, commonly called AMW by its members, is a completely seperate roleplaying experience from that of NationStates.net. A Modified World is a group of roleplayers who choose a real life nation circa 2006, such as Serbia, Germany, or Japan. Then, they roleplay the changes in that nation to their liking, beginning on June 12th, 2006. As in, the members of the site are not affected by any changes in their nation after June 12th, and may roleplay as they like with the nation.
Say Russia went to war with China on June 11th, 2006 (in the real world.) Then, on AMW, China and Russia would be at war. However, say this war ended August 15th,2006 by a treaty. The roleplayers of China and Russia are not affected by this; they choose their own destiny. If they wanted, they could sign a similar treaty...or they could continue fighting...or they could do anything! The sky is the limit, folks. Say Germany splits on July 3rd, 2006. The roleplayer playing as Germany is unaffected by this, and can continue roleplaying a united Germany. If any change occurred after June 12th, it didn't happen on AMW. It's simple.
On A Modified World, the nation name on NationStates.net has nothing to do with the roleplaying experience. You roleplay as a real-life nation, not the one you created on NS. You get their population, their ethnicity, their government, etc. etc. However, you can change all of that! If you want to play as the United States, but want them to becoem a dictatorship...well, you can!
Also, on A Modified World, all existing alliances exist. N.A.T.O., C.I.S., U.N...they all exist. Everything that existed before June 12th, 2006, exists. The Kosovo situation in Serbia still rages on in the U.N. section, due to the fact that the recognized independence occurred after June 12th.
This is your chance to change the history of any country you wish.
Make Cuba a nuclear power.
Make Spain a liberal and neutral state.
Fix up Africa's tribal slaughters.
Anything's possible on A Modified World!
The rules on AMW are simple.
Before registering, please look at the world map. Choose what nation you wish, then register as that nation. Post in the world map to notify the moderators of such a claim. Then, you may begin roleplaying as the nation of your selection. The main aspect of the rules of the forum are posted below:
1. You are to regester as the nation which you intend on RolePlaying as. No names or other RolePlay associations are allowed. Any accounts that violate this rule will be asked to claim and then an administrator will change the said account's name to an appropriate name.
2. Your nation is to be RolePlayed accordingly to both what has happened in-game and what has happened from the beginning of its nationality all the way to June 12th, the begining of this RolePlay.
3. You must RolePlay the government which is in control of your nation at the moment you join this RolePlay. If an other member has changed it through RolePlay or if it was changed by someone who once controlled your nation, you will be notified once you claim by an administrator or by an other member.
4. It is allowed to invade a Non-Player Controled (NPC) nation, as long as it is RolePlayed accordingly. One is also allowed to RolePlay the resistance him/herself, or request someone else to do it.
5. Nuclear weapons are a hot debate, and all are allowed. However, strict guidelines are installed to ensure that this world does not turn into a winter with kangaroos who have more than two legs.
6. Biological and chemicals weapons are also allowed. However, use of said weapons have guidelines, also.
7. As to have it clear on all pages, both nations must concent at the begining of the RolePlay if they intend on having Biological, Chemical, or Nuclear weapons as an option for both sides.
8. Before launching any attack, make a post preparing. The targetted nation shall state any and all defences and other information relevant and needed for the future RolePlay. This includes, but is not limited to, military possitions, capability of defence, and so forth.
9. When researching, you must post the project, in detail, and the time expected for it to complete. Afterward, if it is a military item, you must post how much of the specific unit you plan to have in your arsenal in a "first wave" kind of fasion, the firsts in your armed forces.
10. Factbooks must be made within a week (7) days of your confirmation. Their contents are souly up to your tastes, however, all important information must be shown. This includes economic situations, military numbers, and your political status. Furthermore, and easy factbook (minus the military information) can be found in the CIA Factbook.
11. No flaming, spamming, trolling, etc. etc. You get the point. First offense moderate warning, second offense direct warning, third offense banning.
Lastly, but probably the most important...
