IC: Eliaza placed the last of the legal papers down, signed and ready to be sent to the Governing Hall from there to the South Council of Education from there to who-knows-where-land. She stood up and walked toward the exit to her office when the door burst open and a robed female figure walked in.

“Well, hello,” said Eliaza, “are you a new student?”

The Queen Regent of the Northern Realms was not amused. “Did you get my letter?” asked Lunop Goca.

The White Elf nodded, “I got your letter.”

“Then why are you still here? Why are there three-hundred children here?”

Eliaza responded candidly, “I read your letter, understood your warning, and chose to disregard it.” She showed little outward emotions appropriate for speaking to one of the most powerful people in Phaearth.

“Maybe I was not clear enough,” said Goca, “Sometimes meanings get lost when written down. The Frostlanders are seceding from the Omnik Empire. The Omnik are going to send a fleet of warships down from Eastmost Island to take back the Frostlands. This island is going to be caught in the crossfire, and this school of yours could draw hundreds of innocents to their deaths.”

“Regent, I know about the Battle of Omnikar,” returned Eliaza, “You do not give a damn about innocents. What are you really here for?”

The brow of Goca’s mismatched eyes furrowed, “The Frostlands and the Northern Realms share a common enemy. I do not want you or your students to suffer for that. That is all.”

“Well, I’ve worked for years to make this academy a reality,” said Eliaza, “I will not give it up now.”

“Well I’ve worked for decades to end Omnik’s death grip of Phaearth, and I will not give that up now.”

DAY ONE
Farjumper walked late into the massive assembly hall. His peers seemed to be exclusively humanoid, mostly humans and elves from other parts of the Great Archipelagos. The Saurian received nervous glances from many of them, who had only heard of his kind in books and ancient histories. At least two of them, however, did not give him a second thought; they were pale humans with black hair, probably from the Northern Realms and used to Saurians.

He sat down in one of the chairs, which were designed to fit most any kind of sentient life form, to wait for whatever it was he was to wait for, probably a speech from the headmistress.

OOC: This is just kind of an opportunity for your char’s to walk in. Take it or leave it; it’s not really important.

Jarhn entered the assembly hall and looked in awe around him. The noise was tremendous with the sound of people talking and laughing. He was nervous but he kept his composure. He saw an empty seat and sat down waiting to see what happened.

"If only my powers were more developed then I would know what was going on", he thought to himself.

Maula wanted to enter the hall silently and relatively unnoticed, he disliked having to socialise unless it was necessary. Using telekenisis to create a small disturbance on the far side of the hall in the hopes of distracting most people he entered and found a relatively secluded location to sit and brood, he had been happy to wander the lands as he saw fit, yet he found himself in an academy.

OOC: Just to clarify, the disturbance can be anything, something making a loud noise (e.g. something metel falling, a chair falling over) or someone thinking they got bumped and starting an argument with who they think bumped them, whatever.

Haeli entered the hall, her long green braid drapped over a shoulder while her tail swished. Taking a seat, she looked over the others assembled before closing her eyes while trying to find a comfortable position in a chair not entirely designed for her.

Azrael walked into the assembly hall with an apathetic air about himself. He didn't care if others took notice of him or judged him, but at the same time he was not looking to analyze the other students.

However, he decided to enter discreetly. A small, red and orange cat entered through the main door and proceeded to deftly scamper under a table. It weaved in and out of people's legs as they sat ignorant of his presence. Eventually, when it was about halfway across the room, it exited from under the table and sat in the middle of a narrow and crowded walkway - still the kids did not notice.

He noticed an empty seat on one of the long benches between a girl and guy that seemed to be just slightly younger than he was. While thinking about how to transform without being noticed, the opportunity presented itself. A loud and mysterious crash of metal was heard at the opposite end of the room and while everybody was distracted, the little cat disappeared and in its place stood a relatively handsome young man (http://kenny17.free.fr/galleriehp/albums/userpics/10001/cedric_diggory1.jpg).

"I hope you don't mind if I take this seat," he commented to the guy and girl as he sat down between then.

Cassae Driiquar spread her wings to fly as she as she dived off the roof of her home in Aerie of the Snow Eagles. Cassae felt free with the wind blowing through her hair and under her wings. Starting her trip to the Stonerock Isle Academy of Magic, she power dived into the valley south of Aerie pulling out of it just a few feet above the rocky fast flowing river beneath her. Looking down she could see the trout fighting to swim upstream to their spawning grounds and the bears that meant some would never make it. To either side of her, using her peripheral vision she could see the Ice Rim Mountains of Sossel rise into the morning sky as she rushed on. As she passed over the first of many small waterfalls she saw an owl bear fishing in the river below the falls. She then edged upward then began flapping her wings harder to gain the needed lift and turned southeast towards Eagles Peak in North Kormanthor where her Dire Eagle familiar nested.

After meeting Aerie at Eagles Peak they flew southeast on the first leg of their journey to Essembra, toward the City of Khrandi on the west central coast of Kormanthor, on the Sikyvn Sea. For hours they flew over open tundra, small mountain ranges, open water of an inland sea, and two great forrests, finally arriving at Karandii Falls just north of Khrandi. Here they parted company so Aerie could spend the night in the Karandii Mts just
north of the City. They reasoned that the arrival of a member of a legendary race such as the Avariel would raise more than enough eyebrows for one day without that person being accompanied by a giant eagle.

The next morning Cassae met Aerie over the Mountains east of Khrandi where they turned southeast towards the Capital City of Kormanthor. That evening they arrived
at Essembra where they could buy passage through the dimensional doorway to Phaearth, where the Stonerock Isle Academy of Magic could be found. Even though they were expected in Essembra there was a large crowd of people assembled at the Dimensional Door’s location. They where received with a loud expression of awe from the assembled crowd as they landed. As Cassae walked to the ticket office she saw a group of human men and one elf dressed in robes break off from the crowd and start walking towards her, seconds later as they approached her the elven male spoke to her in Sylvan.

“ Hello my dear, I am Taeghen Amalith, an old friend of your mother’s, I am to escort you to Phaearth, and act as your personal body guard during your stay there. “ said the Elf.

“ Oh yes, mother told me to expect you Mr. Amalith, thank you for coming on such short notice. Please excuse me for asking, but you are a sun elf are you not? You see this is my first time outside of Sossel, so even though I have studied the different races, this is my first time meeting members of other elven races. “ replied Cassae.

“ Very good my dear, you are quite correct in your assumption. Not only am I a sun elf but I am a very well known wizard in this area. But please call me Taeghen, as we will need to be on a first name basis if we are destined to spend so much time together. “
stated Taeghen.

“ How wonderful! Would it be possible Taeghen for you to teach me the magic of
the sun elves too? “ asked Cassae.

“ Yes Cassae quite possible, however now it’s time to leave for Phaearth, and the Academy. So call your familiar and lets be off! “ said Taeghen.

Cassae stepped out of the dimensional door onto the northern end of the island in a seaport surrounded by a beautiful evergreen forest followed by her body guard and familiar. The sun was directly over head but there was a cool breeze blowing with a hint of pine in the air. From a distance location a rumbling from deep in the earth could be heard and felt a little. Knowing that the academy was located directly south in the center of the island just south of a large observatory on a hill. Cassae called Aerie over to allow Taeghen to mount him for the coming flight. Then with a last glance of the seaport they leapt into the air on a heading directly south and the academy. After a flight of a couple hours they were passing above the observatory with the Academy within sight.

He looked around the hall warily, it seemed nearly full of students, he was beggining to get bored of waiting, focusing his mind he began to lift a few small objects and toy around with them, letting them drop and catching them to hone his skills, considering what he could do with them and what he could expect from his life at this school, from what he heard, schools seemed to be boring places, this was a 'magic' school though, so hopefuly something interesting would happen.

As Cassae landed in the courtyard outside the school she saw a newspaper blowing across the courtyard. Her little voice in her head that she had grown to trust over the years suggested she pick it up before it could blow away. She quickly scooped it up and began reading the front page story. As she read she became deeply concerned, the headline read:

Frostlanders have seceded from the Omnik Empire, the Omniks sending war fleet from Eastmost Island to take back the Frostlands.

“Aerdrie Faenya perserve us we have flown right into the middle of brewing civil war Taeghen! “ said Cassae as she quickly turned towards her bodyguard who had just dismounted from Aerie.

“ What! Let me see that paper Cassae! By the Gods! Corellon Larethian protect us
your servants. Cassae I must get you out of here immediately! You are not safe here! “

“ No I am not, but neither are the other three hundred students that I was told would be here today to start orientation! Taeghen I will not desert my school or my fellow students in their most desperate hour of need! “ Turning towards Aerie, Cassae spoke to him in his native tongue Auran saying,

“ Aerie men come here in boats to kill us, I need you to fly high into the sky and be my eyes so we know their movements. “

“ Yes Mistress, answered Aerie as he leapt into the air, and started his assent.

“ Ok! Now we must warn the students. “ said Cassae as she leapt into the air towards the school entrance. As she flew away from Taeghen she heard him say.
“ Yes you are right it is the honorable thing to do, but your mother is going to kill me if you are hurt. “ answered Taeghen. Unable to keep up on foot he decided to make an entrance of his own and activated his Ring of Teleportation. During this entire span of time he was thinking how proud he was of Cassae this day, and how much she reminded him of her mother when she was Cassae’s age.
Cassae dived towards the school entrance, her wings drawn in near to her as she passed through the door. Inside she again spread them wide and flew straight towards the stage at the front of the hall. The wind from her passing just above some of the students in her flight caught the attention of a number of the students who were still awake. Apparently many of them had become very bored during their wait for orientation to start, unfortunately her news would be a very rude awakening. As she landed hard on the stage and walked quickly to the podium, Taeghen teleported onto the stage just to her right nearly scaring the life out of her. Quickly regaining her composure Cassae took the Podium and began to speak.
“ Fellow students I am Cassae Driiquar of Aerie of the Snow Eagles and I have discovered that in coming here we have all walked into a brewing civil war.” announced Cassae. “ We are all in horrible danger! We must work together if we are to save are lives and our school!

He raised an eyebrow as the winged being flew in, landed on the stage and saw someone appear next to her. She, he presumed it was a she by the features, started warning about a civil war they were supposedly in the middle of, perhaps this year wouldn't be as boring as he had anticipated...

He lowered the objectss he had been practicing with and left them on a table nearby, leaning back he watched the initial reactions of other students, some were shocked, some were curious, others had slept through it and a few just didn't seem to care. It wouldn't take long for small groups to band together and start talking, whether they were going to panic or start blaming people who looked different from them he wasn't sure, both were likely.

Jarhn woke up disturbed from a fractured dream. These were not ordinary dreams. These dreams told him of the future. In his dream he had seen fires burning people screaming and this school. Something wasn't right. As he thought this over a winged creature flew over him and landed on the stage in front. She started talking on about a civil war. That was what he must have dreamed of. He got up and ran towards the stage. Many students were taking this as some sort of joke and so went back to their conversations.

"Fellow students", he said loudly, what this person says is true. I am a Seer and have seen it. We are in terrible danger and so we must defend ourselves."

He looked towards the winged creature as he finished speaking.

As Cassae finished her statement, she began looking around the room expecting excitement! However, instead of excitement she could see that most of the crowd did not believe what she had said. Then suddenly one young man got up out of his seat and started running towards the stage. As he got nearer to the stage Cassae stepped back from the Podium somehow understanding that he had something he wished to communicate to the crowd. She was correct, he ran straight to the podium and immediately launched into his statement of support of her. He claimed to be a seer, and said that during his sleep he had a dream that showed him fires burning, people screaming, and this school. Then he looked her way as if expecting something from her.
In answer she said, “ Thank You Seer for sharing your dream with us, but I fear we still have not convinced our fellow students of the danger. As I said before, I am Cassae Driiquar of Aerie of the Snow Eagles, I am a member of a race of winged elves that are called Avariel. We are a race that has lived in seclusion for a millennia. My coming here to attend magic school marks a new era for my people, and I do not intend to allow the civil war here to push my people back into another self inflicted exile. But I could use all the help in fighting these warring factions that I can find. Together Seer I think we could be a formidable force for good. "

Seeung another person jump on stage he considered the finer points of the situation, they were on an island, any attacking party would have to land first, unless they were flying critters, so they should have an extended warning, the school should contain several powerful mages, and built to withstand punishment from wayward students. He doubted they could find a much more suitable position to defend if it came to it, that just left teaching the students and this was a school.

Shouting to be heard over the top of the noise he asked; "Who is the war between?" He was somewhat reluctant to ask, a fight might break out between students from the two areas.

Headmistress Eliaza stepped up. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting." She said, "Someone has been writing a story, studying for his first driving exam, and dealing with family turmoil caused by his brother's manic skitzofrenia."

Okay, now IC.

"Students, professors, faculty, and whomever else may be here," said Eliaza, "I am sorry to keep you waiting. Welcome to Stonerock Academy. I am Headmistress Eliaza." She seemed not to notice all the commotion that had occured in her few minutes of absence.

She proceeded to make a long, dull speech about academics, knowledge, magic, on and on and on. She introduced the professors, "The professor of the Nature of Magic, Mr. Ugarb," a tall, hairy blue Frostlander was leaning against the far wall. He raised a massive hand in greeting. "The professor of Elemental Magic, Ms. Arrowfeather," she indicated a short Wood Elf in what would equal, in human years, her mid-thirties. "The professor of Math(OOC: sorry, folks), Mr. Night Effigy," He was a tall, fourty-year old human. Judging by his dark skin but blonde hair, he was an Omnik. "The professor of Destructive Magic and Negative Energies, Mr. Karl Page." She gestured towards a morbid-faced caucasian man who seemed not to notice.

"The professor of Phaearth history, Mrs. Elena Rockmore," this was a plump human woman with red hair. "The professor of Nature Studies, Ms. Alexna," another Wood Elf, this one with a swirling tatoo on the back of her hand that probably extended up the lenght of her sleeve-concealed arm. "And the professor of Tele-Abilities, Mr. David Page."

She said some more boring things, then, "As I'm sure many of you already know, this school seems to have opened at a most inopprotune time. The dark winds of war blow in our direction, but I assure you all this: Myself, the faculty, and the guards will do whatever it takes to keep this campus safe, and if the governer and his advisors are wise, so shall the rest of the island be."

She said some more boring things, then opened the floor for questions.

Throughout the happenstance on the stage Taeghen watched the reactions of the other students towards Cassae from the background. He saw one creature with purple eyes looking at Cassae very intently. The creature stared at her while swishing it’s tail. For some reason this creature was more interested in Cassae herself then the warning. Hmmm … thought Taeghen … Interesting … I must keep a close eye on this creature until I figure out what it’s motivation is.

Azrael listened with a disinterested ear as an odd figure spewed a warning about a brewing civil war. They seemed to be relatively safe where they were: a school that appeared to be well fortified on an island. Not to mention all of those with magical abilities in the school... namely the well experienced and talented teachers.

Then the headmistress stepped up and once again Azrael only half listened as he scanned the crowd of students. However, he managed to catch one simple and important phrase: "The professor of Destructive Magic and Negative Energies, Mr. Karl Page." Karl Page...

She thought back, trying to remember ... oh yes! now she remembered, he wanted to know who the warring factions were. Because the podium had now been taken over by the headmistress she decided to try to send the answer to his question by way of a whisper spell. As he reached the door, he picked up a schedule and began looking at the choices. At least they let you pick your own classes. Of course he quickly checked off the class entitled 'DESTRUCTIVE MAGIC AND NEGATIVE ENERGIES,' but what other one or ones to take was a harder decision.

History and math seemed pretty boring and if he didn't have to take them, he would try not to. That left: Nature of Magic, Elemental Magic, Nature Studies, and Tele-Abilities. Nature Studies also sounded boring, so he decided to go with the other three.

Not paying attention to the stutue he said; "Maybe that's what the teacher's do to bad students." obviously joking. Taking a closer look he turned more serious, "It's probably a statue, though a well made statue. As he walked down the path to the boy's dormitory, Azrael noticed and heard a brief part of the discussion between two younger students. Apparently the one who was a bit different looking was slightly naive, at least in this realm. On top of it she seemed to have a very literal way of looking at everything...

When Azrael reached the dormitory, he scanned the room for his bed and quickly found it near the corner. The few items he possessed were placed under his pillow as he sat down to think what to do next. I guess I could take a look around the school and island... He looked around to see if there was anyone else close to his age that was also looking for something to do.

"They were made to honour the memory, usually statue's were only made for dead people or in memory of people who have done 'brave' - or in my view stupid - things. They have a whole system for showing how they died by how the person is standing, especially if their on horseback. I have to agree though, there's not much point to it." "Other than that, it's usually boring." She said thoughtfully. "When I was a bit younger, we go around teasing the piglets, playing with the neighbour's dog, and generally slacking off."

"This place is sure interesting." She added.

Farjumper finally caught up, a large paper sack in his claws. He sat down with the other kids and extracted from it an obsurdly large slab of raw, bloody meat. He found a fork and funbled around with it with his three fingers for half a minute before he actually managed to tear a piece off and eat it.

"Unto each his own... right?" Azrael said as he polished off his food and leaned back slightly to stretch. This new... thing... looked like a dinosaur that he had seen in books before, but never in real life... and never intelligent and speaking.

He washed down his food with a healthy glass of pure water, draining it in one large gulp. "I wonder when classes start," he mused, looking forward to the Destructive Magic and Negative Energies... his forte.

"Interesting assortment for breakfast," he said casually to one of the younger kids who was in line ahead of him. After getting a plate of morning food, Azrael found a seat at a relatively empty seat and began eating in silence. The anticipation of the day was killing him...

Spending a night on an actual bed was pretty awesome.

Light crept in through the curtains. It was early morning. Uni changed her clothes, hastily combed her hair with her fingers, then procceeded down to the canteen with her backpack.

Not really a morning person. Uni decided to finish her breakfast in silence.

"What was the first lesson again?" she said loudly to herself, as the students began to leave the canteen.

' Taeghan must of contacted mother ' thought Cassae. Turning to the right Cassae started flapping her wings harder to gain lift. Working hard she climbed towards the Moonwhisper
knowing that her Mother could be found aboard it.
Luckily the ships weren't traveling as fast as they could have been but it
still wasn't easy catching up to them. Finally she flew just behind and above the deck on the spelljammers stern where Qwia Amakiir stood speaking to one of her crew, and said, " Permission to come aboard ".
Recognizing Cassae's voice Qwia turned around to see the youngster following along behind the ship and said, " Of course you may come aboard
Cassae ... welcome to the Moonwhisper. " " Thank You Auntie " replied Cassae
as she landed lightly on the deck beside Qwia. " I'm glad you came to us so quickly your mother wishes to see you. Come with me I will show you to her stateroom.

After Vanna had left she had sent a thank you to Aerie via a whisper spell then went to meet Qwia for breakfast so they could talk about their plans and try to figure out
who this strange winged drow elf could be and why she was after Cassae.

" Good Morning Qwia, we have some very important decisions to make this morning. " said the Queen as she sat down at the table on the stern section of the Moonwhisper's main deck.

" Good Morning your Majesty, I have already heard about the winged stranger and her allies. I think I know of what race she belongs too, but if I am correct then I will have need of a spy that is totally unknown because we have had much trouble from this race in the past. " stated Qwia.

As the Queen thought about this a servant arrived with their breakfast and placed all the dishs in the center of the table.

" Thank You Mialee, you are dismissed " said the Queen to the servant who answered only by bowing as she backed away from the table and returned to the galley.
