OOC: I have to say your rugby jerseys are awesome and I along with everyone else appreciate your efforts! Was curious however, are you able to make them more similar to the following?

http://www.geocities.com/PopularFreedomTicker/2006-05-21-001.html

These are the jerseys the home jerseys of the Locke Harbour Dragons (who will represent PopularFreedom at RWC 7) so was hoping you may be able to tweak the ones you made for me to look more like what the Dragons normally use? (again if you can that would be AWESOME, if you cannot get the colour quite right, the home jerseys should be more red than purple in case you cant find the exact colour)

Snake Eaters
11-06-2006, 07:07
=Starting Line-Up=
1)Tight-Head Prop = Robin Johnstone
Long time Oured Otters prop Robin Johnstone makes his international debut this year, having only recently joined the team from the local university.

2)Hooker = Tom Garsea
Garsea has been playing on and off, but missed the last World Cup due to hamstring issues. However, since then this Cinigrad Crusader, who is among the larger members of the team at eighteen and a half stone, has been back in solid training.

3)Loose-Head Prop = Gareth Lorenze
Another new addition, also from the Otters, Lorenze and Johnstone have proven themselves as formidable in the scrum, their slightly smaller frames hiding their unwarranted pushing power.

4)Second Row = J'Tal Killian
5)Second Row = Andrew Fisher
Both Killian and Fisher weigh in at nineteen stone each, providing the scrum with some serious power and weight. Although neither of these men is the quickest on the pitch, they are among the strongest.

6)Flanker = Hugh Pilkington
7)Flanker = Robert Sheardown
8)No.8 = Frank Gibson
The final three of the scrum are well known friends, having all served in the Colonial Marines at some stage. This bond allows them to understand the others actions, making them seem almost telepathic when handling the ball, and is particulary useful during the ruck.

9)Scrum Half = Lorenze Paulucci
Paulucci is considered by his team mates at Hierlark Eagles to be a ball wizard with sticky tape for hands. His control over the back row is absolute, which is combined with excellent handling to make him a more formidable opponent.

10)Fly Half = Jacob Cameron
Beating out all the competition, Cameron has secured his place on the side by his record and his determination. He is also an extremely dangerous player in defence, however this has led to injury problems at problems, not unlike Johnny Wilkinson.

11)Inside Centre = Ben Staton
Staton's position as winger has altered as his tackling skills have come more into play. This change of direction has heralded his movement within the squad. However, his adaptability means he can play almost anywhere in the back row.

12)Outside Centre = James Williams (C)
A veteran world cup player, Williams has yet to see his team make the quater finals. However, with his position as captain firmly established, he looks set to lead what might be the strongest side in Snake history far into the tournament.

13)Winger = Tom Corner
Another cup veteran, Corner has been noted for his pace and agility. However, it is known that he intends to retire from internation rugby following the end of the tournament. It is almost certain that he will be putting in as much effort as any one.

14)Winger = Sam Pealing
Pealing may be another newcomer to the world cup, but he has been playing for the international side since the end of the last one. Serving with Corner, he also played rugby for the Army, a feat that is impressive in itself given the ferocity in those games.

15)Full Back = David Helliwell
Helliwell is not what many would call a typical full back. Having come from the front row, he brings raw power to a role that also requires quick feet, something he also possesses in bucketloads. Opponents would be wise not to underestimate the shortest member of the world cup squad.

=Replacements=
16) Nathan Arndt (PR, SR)
17) Jack Loveridge (H, FL)
18) P'al H'egert (SR, No.8)
19) Ryan Mays (SH, OC)
20) Callum Northwell (FH, W)(Recovering from injury, or would be in first team.)
21) K'ith T'lii (OC, IC, FB)
22) Arnold Lister (W, SH)
23) David Samson (H, PR)
24) Jack Hallam (FH, FB)

Coach = Norman Fletcher
Fletcher's return to coaching is welcomed by all in Snake Eater rugby circles. It was by his guidance that the first world cup was not a complete disaster, and his prescense was missed by many in the last tournament. A near total revamp of the squad has led to some decisions that have been frowned upon, but it is hoped by many that such radicalism on behalf of Fletcher will pay off in the long run.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my point breakdown - Y
Choose my point scorers - Y
Hand out yellow cards to my players - Y
Hand out red cards to my players - Y
RP injuries to my players - Y, only minor
Godmod injuries to my players - N
RP other events - Y

Snake Eaters will once more participate in the Rugby World Cup, hopefully with more success than the last one. Norman Fletcher is back behind the wheel, considering the poor performance of the national squad under Anthony Treadstone last time. By now old hands at the international game, players such as James Williams, Ben Staton and Tom Corner will be looking to make their mark in what is being viewed by many as their last world cup. The pack has been reworked yet again to provide an emphasis on raw pushing power at the expense of pace, whilst the backs have changed little, still maintaining a good balance.

We here are SWN Sport look forward to bringing you all the updates from the World Cup as it progresses, hopefully with more success than before. New kits have been confirmed, and the home kit in particular is deemed very striking by the players themselves.

Hello and welcome to the 2006 Rugby World Cup 7. I'm Mick harford and your watching ABC WC, the number 1 WC station for all your world cup needs. Today we'll be looking at the Austian Team thats being sent out to the finals.

We need to reamber of course, that Aust was banned from the last two RWC world cups after RWC 4 after the behavour of there fans after the Austian World Cup Victory. However most of the World Cup winning Austian side remains in place,

After a strong domestic season here in which Aust City tiogers won there 3rd Super League Tital we can all look forward to the RWC in peace. So lets look at the Austian team with RWC legend James Perch:

"Thanks Mick, first lets look at the front row. As they say Forwards win you matches and treditionally Auistian forwards have never been the strongest. This year though Aust have picked young debuant Ryan Binner in the Squad after a superb season. The ex-weightlifter weighs in at over 19 stone and packs a punch in the notoriously weak Aust Scrums

Supporting him are the experienced duo of Charlton and Ripley. Both now have well over 50 caps and Charlton is another beast in the scrum, whos not bad in the loose eather. Ripley was voted hooker of the season this year in the ASL and is, we have to say, a legend of the game. Though he's nearing his 29th year this year he's also nearing his 90th cap.

He'll be playing in his usual combative style, making up for his small size with lightning pace, handling and line-outs. He is not the biggest hooker in the world.

Now onto the powerhosue, the Austian locks. Treditionally these have never been the biggest but Ben Hardcastle willa dd bulk and line-out ability. Next to him is the vetren Steven Cuthbert who will reach 112 caps if Aust reach the final of this tournment. Cuthbert will be playing his usual gameplan of acting as a 4th backrow, and the ex-100m champion will be up for what will proably be his final RWC.

Now the Back-row, treditionally Austs strongest area. Though small the Austian backrowers sure pack a punch, all of them are experienced internationals and experts and stealing good turnover and playing a terrier style game to attack the oppersition fly-half.

The man to watch here is Christpher Howick. If you looked at the lads number of caps you'd be forgiven for thinking he was in his early 30's but you have to reamber that Howick made his debut when he was 17. dispite his 105 caps he's still only 27 and just hitting his prime.

The Half-backs are interesting. Joel Gill is the ajck of all trades having appeared all over the place in the Austian backline. The ex-fullback is now firmly established in the Austian scrum-half booth and his tackling and speed will be a great asset. However his passing could still do with some work.

Alex Witek is a key-man for Aust, the 25 year old, who amde his debut as a raw 16 year old back in 1996 has come a long way since the famous Mortlock dump on his debut. Now with bags of Experience and more cups than you could imagine he will be aiming to set free the ferious Austian backs.

And what a backline they are, young, experienced and ex-winners of the cup the Austian backs where all part of the goldern generation of 97. Despite there huge amount of experience the odlest is only 28-james Austian the highest try scorer in the RWC4.

Certainly the Austian squad is a team to be feared at the World Cup. Should they overcome there defisencys in the scrum and line-out they will be a good bet to win this World Cup.

Location: Locke Harbour, PopularFreedom

Prime Minister Julia Westerlake had concerns. It had been some time now since 5 Aust citizens had been jailed for their participation in the Rugby World Cup riots that took place just after Aust won the championship on Locke Harbour streets. With Aust back after missing two world cups Ms. Westerlake was concerned.

The nation of Aust had expressed interest in having the prisoners transferred to their nation as soon as possible and with Aust back in the nation there was a good likelihood they would press the PopularFreedom government on this again. Normally PopularFreedom would agree to this however the former Prime Minister who was in power when these individuals were tried, convicted, and sentenced, had expressedly noted that these individuals should rot in PopularFreedom jails. Ms. Westerlake knew that there was considerable support for the former Prime Minister, and especially after her ouster of his replacement, Mr. Rolis, she knew that to disobey his request would be political suicide.

Whatever the case, this time there would be no disorder. She had the best of the best in PopularFreedom security to deal with these crowds. Straight from the neighbourhoods of Loyalty Bay, PopularFreedom. She knew the Locke Harbour police would be furious however there would be no repeat of the riots that ensued after Rugby World Cup 4, at least while she was in power there would not be.

Aust requests the return of Citizens accused of Murdser and Rape[/b]

Emporer William the 4th of Aust today called for the return of Austian presinors held in popular freedom jails. The 5 prisioners are accused of murder and rape during the Rugby Riots in RWC4. Since then they have been held by the PopularFreedom goverment.

"These men are Austian citizens," The Emporer said today, "They may have acted dishonourbaly but that is for there fellow Austians to decide, not a foregn body who ahve little idea of Austian customs and actions."

In Aust the current sentence for the crimes that the men are accused of is Death by Torture, however the Winter Empire may also accuse the men of the crime of Dishonourable Conduct, which carries a sentence of Death by DVP-the harshest of all Austian punishments.

RUGBY: LOCKE HARBOUR TO FACE NATION OF SILAGE IN PRE-RWC MATCH. Match to be held at Champions Heaven Stadium.

Locke Harbour - Despite the fact that both Locke Harbour squads are eliminated from the PopularFreedom Rugby League playoffs has not prevented high quality rugby from being played in the city this weekend. Locke Harbour South residents need to only head north on the PHS-103 (http://img394.imageshack.us/my.php?image=20060101phsinlh8vo.jpg) less than 10 kilometres to watch the Dragons face off against the nation of Silage this weekend.

Little is known about the nation of Silage at this time with them yet to post their official roster for the upcoming Rugby World Cup 7 to be hosted in Locke Harbour starting on the 5th of July, 2006.

The Locke Harbour Dragons roster (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11137441&postcount=10), though yet to be posted, will most likely take on the same form as how the Dragons ended the PopularFreedom Rugby League this season. It will be interesting to see how well the squad can do against this relatively unknown squad from Silage

2006-06-18 EXHIBITION RESULTS:

Match played at Champions Heaven Stadium, Locke Harbour, PopularFreedom

OOC:

Above you can see how the scoreinator works.

-the first column is the numbers Silage entered
-the second column is the results for Silage
-the third column are the numbers PopularFreedom entered
-the fourth are the results for PopularFreedom

-the first five rows are the first half, the second five rows are the second half
-the final row with numbers is the final score

Assumed FAQ when I start posting these results for the actual RWC round robin etc:
Q-can two teams score in the same row
A-no, likewise in rugby both teams cannot score at the same time

Q-not all the numbers I requested are in there. Why?
A-First off, only the first 10 numbers you submitted are used (most teams only submitted 10, however 2 others submitted more).
A-Secondly, each row is based on different elements.
-The first 5 rows are for random numbers meaning if you outguessed your opponent on whether it would be higher or lower you win that row and score some points.
-the 6th row is whether you have posted your roster or not. IF YOU HAVE NOT posted your roster, your 6th number is DELETED and not used.
-the 7th row is whether you were in RWC 6 or not. IF YOU WERE NOT then your 7th number is DELETED and not used.*
-the 8th row is whether you were in RWC 5 or not. IF YOU WERE NOT then your 8th number is DELETED and not used.*
-the 9th row is whether you RPed prior to your match or not. Notice in this case that neither team had their numbers there because Silage did not RP (therefore causing his number to be deleted) and PopularFreedom is the host and therefore is expected to RP (and therefore has his number deleted as well).
-the 10th row is where both teams numbers are used unless one has a higher rank than the other (by 20 points or more) according to the ranking system used in RWC 6 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11093715&postcount=95). In that case only the higher one is used, while the other is deleted.*

*=If you feel these rules are not fair then tell me ASAP. I can always change the scoreinator beforehand (up until June 27, 2006), but once the RWC actually starts (July 5, 2006) it would not be fair to change it then so again I STRONGLY SUGGEST you get exhibition matches with each other (and with me) so you can see whether you like how it works or whether it needs tweaks! :)

"Hello, sports fans! This is Jay McYule alongside 'Toothless' Sam St. Pierre, coming to you live from the Revolutionaries' practice field in Havensbury, Cliftonshire."

*hacking cough*

"Sam, sounds like you have something caught in your throat?"

"Indeed I do, Jay. There seems to be something wrong with the air around here."

"Sam, my poor foothills compatriot, that is the smell of progress."

"I assume this progress has something to do with the smokestacks yonder belching black filth into the air?"

"That 'black filth', Sam is in fact a byproduct of the second-largest foundry in Clyftonshire. It's these industrial miracles that sustain the armies fighting for the Republic against the black forces of reactionary royalism from Manila to the upper Jaizar."

*more hacking coughs*

"At any rate, Sam, we're here to do an interview with scrum-half Blast Hardcheese. Blast, what do you say?"

"It's good to be here, Jay. I think we have a very good side and will definitely be playing in this competition."

"Erm, of course. Are there any teams you're looking forward to meeting in particular, Blast?"

"Well, Jay, I'd have to say that Larkinia plays rugby."

"And you'd fancy a match with them?"

"That's what I said."

"Of course it was. So, Blast, any reason in particular you'd prefer to see the Eagles early on?"

"Well, they just think they're really playing. We'd like to show them that we're really playing too."

"Well, thank you for your time, Blast!"

"No problem, Jay. I love your show!"

"As Blast trots off to join his teammates, Sam, I'd like to go over the Revolutionaries' starting fifteen. Coach Arrow handed them to me earlier. Let's see:

"1) Bolt Vanderhuge
2) Buck Plankchest
3) Dirk Hardpeck
4) Rip Steakface
5) Brick Hardmeat
6) Big McLargehuge
7) Crunch Buttsteak
8) Gristle McThornbody
9) Blast Hardcheese (c)
10) Smoke Manmuscle
11) Smash Lampjaw
12) Buff Drinklots
13) Trunk Slamchest
14) Bob Johnson
and, taking up number 15) Stump Beefgnaw.

"Quite the impressive side, wouldn't you say, Sam?"

Okay:

Wingers: quick guys whop score the trys, numbers 11 and 14. They satnd on the end of the backline and when in defense drop back to cover the kicks.

Fullback: stays back at all times ind efense to providecover tackling and cover kicks. Number 15.

Centers: Stay in the line at all times. usually you have 1 big guy (13) for the crash ball and a small guy (12) to distribute to the 13 and the back 3. (11,14,15)

Fly half: he runs the show, usually he can't atckle but she calls the abcks moves, kicks, runs and passes. Usually your most talented player.

Scrum Half: usually a small guy who distributes the ball to the abcks and bosses the forwards.

no.8: Usually one of the largest guys on the pitch, often a ball csrriers though some teams play him as a 3rd flanker. He basically contols the ball at the back of the scruma dn sacurs it at a ruck.

Flankers: There job in the chase and tackle. they follow the ball and try to steal it when the opponent goes to ground

Locks; These guys are usually the largest guys in the team, they are the 'pwoerhouse' of the team and take the lineout.

Front Row: The front row of the team, usually short, squat and slow.

There are two main strategies to play, either the power game/"10 man rugby" or the mobility game.

The AMW China team plays a mobile and fast moving game emulating countries such as the All Blacks, Wales, and Australia. Argentina and England play the power game quite well, especially the English team under Martin Johnson and Woodward. The power game requires a beefy pack, enough to dominate possession and suffocate the opposition - the backline mainly defends. The mobility game is based on an attacking backline and finds gaps through opposition defences as opposed to smashing them open.

At the moment in R.L international rugby, it seems the mobility game is winning out over the power game, since it seems quite hard for the forwards to exert the dominance required over their opponents in the power game in an international scene that is essentially a level field.

AMW China lacks quality forwards due to structural deficientcies at the grassroots level but as a result has perhaps the best backline in the world so we have small but No 8s and flankers to try and move the ball around even more.

By RL do you mean league or Real Life.

And yes, running rugby is the way to go now in my opinion, modern defenses are too good. thats why my packs got 4 flanekrs in it, plus 3 line-out specalists. i'm not going to win any scrums, but in the Line-out and contact area I'm king.

In rugby you got the pack (the front 8) and the backs (the guys who run fast and pass the ball and score)

Pack =

prop
hooker
prop
flanker
lock
lock
flanker
8 man

Backs =
Scrumhalf (some will argue this guy is not a back however...)
Flyhalf
Inside Centre
Outside Centre
Winger

Fullback

PS: Notice how I capitalize the backs cause they are the most important players lol :P Needless to say what position I played in real life :P

The Outcome of this game will be very large for both teams.

John Peters from the PopularFreedom Security Services Agency studied the satellite footage of Locke Harbour International Airport and the neighbourhood of Skyview (http://img473.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lhcsskyview7xm.jpg). Teams were now either flying into the airport or already settled and gearing up for their first match. His job was to monitor the incomings of all players, and fans. Especially after the deadly riots of the Rugby World Cup 4, also held partially in Locke Harbour, he was determined to ensure nothing like that happened again, being fired was not on his list of things to do for the upcoming few weeks that was for sure.

Coach Keith Wright was furious. He had argued what he could but it was settled. The Dragons were to play the defending champions to start off the 7th Rugby World Cup.

After a devastating season in the PopularFreedom Rugby league for his Dragons, where his squad had been relegated, this was the last thing he needed.

It was bad enough that the Dragons had been originally scheduled to play their matches in Locke Harbour South, home of their crosstown rival Locke Harbour Blues. He had put that plan to an end more than a month ago however with his backroom arguments. Still though he wondered now whether that was such a great idea in light of his questions about his own team.

The Rorysville Moose were one of the best teams on the planet and Wright knew it. Only a serious effort from his boys would allow his team to get out of the match with a victory, let alone without getting slaughtered.

The media had already picked the Dragons to come 3rd, well some 3rd, some dead last in their pool. He had to do something to make sure that did not happen but what. He pondered what he could do as he watched his team continue to practice on the university rugby pitch, preparing for their match July 5th.

AMW China plays Milchama in the first game of the world cup group games. Having met them 6 times in the past and winning the last 5, AMW China are the favourites to win the match. Of concern to coach Graham Hart was the last minute substitutions he had to make - Winger Jonathan Bayer was mauled by a dog, and needed to skip the game for recovery. He had substituted Alan Kwok who was also a specialist winger, but lacked the size to make breaks.

The Chinese scrum continued to struggle, but as usual the backline was perhaps one of the top in the world. Hart prayed it would be enough for the big Milchama side.

OOC: Rules for RWC 7 are here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11116145&postcount=1) as a reminder to what everyone agreed to initially. ...

Those who did not win their matches, ensure you have posted a roster and RP your match for better results in your next game. :)

Any questions, again feel free to let me know. The blank spaces for the record are where your numbers were not used (cause you did not RP, or did not post a roster, or was not apart of RWC 5/6, or was out ranked based on the Haraki ranking system. Again see the rules for further clarification if you are unclear about how this works.

Keith Wright, head coach of the Locke Harbour Dragons had his heads in his hands at his desk as he went over tapes for the Dragons next match on Thursday.

The phone rang and he looked at the call display feature.

Keith Wright: 'PopularFreedom Ticker' , he said aloud

Not feeling like talking to anyone, Keith still picked up the phone.

A voice on the other end stated bluntly: 'thought you should know that tomorrows national paper has the headline, 'Drop Kicks Don't Win Games'.' Suggest you coach better next...

'click'

Keith hung up the phone on whoever it was on the other line. Shaking his head he went back to looking at game footage.

If you have a bye, your RP carries over so do not worry.

With the standings, you are technically correct. I will incorporate that into the standings beginning following game day 2 results.

Quakmybush Thump Harlesburg

Today in the World Cup of Rugby the Quakmybush Sharks destroyed Harlesburg. The score was 38-5. Quakmybush totally dominated play. Most of the teams trys were in the 2nd half. Quakmybush also played basically mistake free defensively. Quakmybush's next game will be against AMW China after a day off. AMW China lost 26-24 to Milchima in the other Group A match.

Snake Eaters
06-07-2006, 18:08
A closely fought match between Aust and Snake Eaters resulted in a win by the narrowest of margins for the opposition. Given that both teams fielded strong sides, many fans, although dissapointed with the loss, acknowledge that Aust are quite obviously not to be underestimated in this upcoming tournament.

Snake Eaters opened the scoring inside the first ten minutes, a long kick from Tom Corner allowing the forwards to maul the opposition long enough to form an overlap, quickly exploited by Ben Staton, and easily converted at thirty yards, giving Snake Eaters a 7-0 lead. However, Aust replied without much hesitation, scoring two tries in the before half time, and converting both without too much effort. At half-time, the scores stood at 7-14 to Aust.

As the second half opened, Snake Eaters came out with a renewed vigour that had been lacking in the latter stages of the first half, with Jacob Cameron missing one conversion to make the scores 19-14, with twenty minutes left. Once more however, Snake Eaters got lax with their defence, allowing Aust to score two more tries, again converting both to bring the score to 19-28. It was during the ruck for the next try, scored by Snake Eaters, that tight-head prop Jacob Cameron needed to be removed from play, allowing Nathan Ardnt to stretch his legs and employ his bulk to drive the ball over the line, the first try in international play for this up and coming prop. Cameron, struck with nerves after missing the previous kick, missed the conversion once more, but redeemed himself not two minutes later when Captain James Williams set him up for the perfect drop goal, bringing the score to 27-28 in favour of Aust. With the scores so close and five minutes left to play, Snake Eaters went on a renewed offensive, seeing that victory was just within their grasp. A decision by the referee deemed that David Helliwell had been taken into touch by an Aust tackle, and thus ended the game, the final scores being 27-28 to Aust.

In a post-match press conference, coach Norman Fletcher said,"I thought we played very well... but at the end of the day, Aust had luck on their side. They played a good game, and maybe they deserved to win. This loss is only going to make us try harder at the next game."

Final SE Stats:
Tries (4) - Ben Staton, Tom Corner, James Williams, Nathan Ardnt
Conversions - Jacob Cameron (2)
Drop Goals - Jacob Cameron (1)

HRUA Announces National Rugby Team
From the Atherlon Times

Pete Vans, PopularFreedom. Haraki's coach Allan Ferris only today announced the team he has taken to PopularFreedom for the seventh Rugby World Cup. Surprisingly enough, it is exactly the same as the team he used in RWC6, where the reigning world champions crashed out in the quarter-finals.

Ferris says that the young age of the team - Not a single player was over the age of 25 for RWC6 - has led to the team being the same this year. He claims that 'This is still the greatest talent pool in Haraki, and I have great faith in them this year.' The average age has, predictably, risen, but still no player remains over the age of 27. Fly half Nathan Cannon is still in his prime at 24, and is expected to perform well in this Cup as he has in the past.

1 – Alexander Dupree – Loosehead Prop – Revolution
He plays for his home side from the city of Vitasale, where he was born, and rumours abound that he lives with his parents, which he denies – “although she is a good cook” – he definitely has some secret to his play. Not as tall as some props, he is stocky and large, with powerful arms that he uses to make devastating tackles and rush right through defensive lines, making him one of the best crash ball players on the field.
2 – Brad Winters – Hooker – Kiros RFC
The fastest forward on the team and the captain of Kiros RFC, the best rugby team in Haraki, he’s the best man at crash balling on the team. Can quite often steal the ball against the feed off of throw-ins to scrums, and often lifts his second foot off the ground during scrums to aid the take. Although it makes it more dangerous, he relies on the size of his props to support him and using both feet gives him an extra advantage that has helped him take Kiros RFC to the top of Haraki’s league two years running. Actually scores a large portion of tries, and is also a spectacular line-out thrower. Was assistant captain for World Cup V, and got the captain position for World Cup VI due to outstanding leadership.
3 – Philip Lasnet – Tighthead Prop – Kiros RFC
Winters brings with him from Kiros RFC his tighthead prop, used to helping him in scrums. Not quite as tall as Morris, he is stockier and has no neck. With very strong arms, he almost always joins Morris in the ruck, and is the primary lineout lifter for Haraki’s first jumper in seven-man lineouts and the back lifter for four-man lineouts. Good at driving the scrum back and using it as a ground-gaining device rather than simply a penalty.
4 – Sid Galworth – Lock – Uses Raiders
Another of the team’s best ruckers, Galworth is the second jumper for Haraki when they are forced to run a seven-man lineout. Although moderately fast, his specialty is in the rucks and scrums, where his powerful legs can be put to good use driving the opponents back. He plays for the Uses Raiders, who were defeated in the last season 17-12 in the playoff final against Kiros RFC. Mysteriously enough, he is also a magnificent tactical kicker and actually takes a lot of drop goals for his team. When deep in the opposition’s end, sometimes when he calls for a crash ball instead of running it he kicks a drop goal, almost unheard of coming from a forward.
5 – Kevin Lanning – Lock – Dragons
Hailing from the [North Atherlon] Dragons, Lanning is the tallest man on the team and Haraki’s first jumper for lineouts. Not as talented at kicking as his companion, he specializes in tackles that make the spectators wince. Has racked up more injuries against other players than any other in the Harakian league over the last season.
6 – Michael Benes – Blindside Flanker – Caltis Union RFC
The son of the famous Victor Benes, Michael follows in his father’s footsteps by playing professional and international rugby. He is the best tackler on the team and usually does not enter rucks, choosing instead to post along the outside of them to catch those running on the other team and bring them down. He also often crashes the ball, and is good at advancing and gaining ground on the field, although he usually does not capitalize on offensive plays to score tries. Stands at the back of lineouts to catch long balls.
7 – Nick Renset – Openside Flanker – Susa Black and Reds
A quick man, any fly half on an opposing HRL team would be ready to tell you of the many times they have been battered silly by Nick Renset, tearing off the side of scrums to come straight at them. He has become famous in the media for his diving tackles, often just as the opposition is making a kick, quite often forcing a knock-on. He chooses to wear a scrum cap ever since a concussion last season following a straight-arm to the face from an opposing prop and subsequent raking on the ground.
8 – Thomas Gerryin – Number Eight – Liusu Griffons
Quite fond of the pick and go, he seems almost to hold the team backs in disdain, as he will instead choose to gain ground by picking the ball out of a ruck, scrum or maul and trying to sprint it past the opposing flankers. However, he is also fast enough that often in loose play he joins the back line to create an extra man so they can exploit holes in the defence. He is well-known for his tendency to take opposition players into touch rather than wrapping and taking them down.
9 – Carl Thint – Scrum Half – Arkia Pirates – Assistant Captain
The best ball handler in the HRL, by far, and one of the best passers. He is small and quick, rushing into the back of rucks to pick the ball up and recycle it to the back line or crashers before the opposition forwards can free themselves from the ruck. He is also fond of picking the ball up right out of the ruck and running it through the defence himself, gaining significant ground due to the other team not expecting it. He also manages to be a good punter, and when trapped behind his own 22, often picks it and punts it far down the field into touch. The best scrum half in the HRL, far and away, he is multi-talented and has definite star factor.
10 – Nathan Cannon – Fly Half – Isasi Lions - Goal Kicker, Captain
He plays fly half for the Isasi Lions, and is the best kicker in the Harakian league, by far. Many considered him one of the best kickers in World Cup V, and thus one of the best players in the world. Cannon takes all the team’s kicks for posts and is especially good at drop goals. He is most famous for one last year in which, after his forwards forced a turnover deep in their own end, he kicked the ball over sixty metres down the field and straight through the posts on full time for a game winning goal. However, despite his excellent kicking, he is also a great runner, sprinting through holes in the defence to score tries himself. Made captain of the team for RWC7.
11 – Daniel Virlan – Left Wing – Susa Black and Reds
Has the best catching hands on the whole team, even better than the fullback. Any punts on his side of the field are always caught by him, and his strategy then is to run as far and as fast as possible without passing at all, choosing instead to get taken down and have it rucked out over him. Very fast, he is too selfish to make any other position but wing or fullback, and his passing is worse than it should be. As such, he never passes, due to inability and selfishness. Good with a punt if trapped behind the 22, especially as he is always so close to the sideline.
12 – James Keay – Inside Centre – Uses Raiders
As fast as a wing and as talented as a fullback, Keay (Pronounced Key-ay) played fly half for Haraki in World Cup V. However, his lack of ability to make drop kicks – although he is a very talented punter – led to delays in scoring while he passed to Nathan Cannon which cost Haraki points. Coach Allan Ferris could not deny his skill, though, so he was relegated to Inside Centre where he can still make plays with the other backs. His specialty is making plays or passing and rejoining the line further up for an overlap.
13 – Adam Farreley – Outside Centre – Arkia Pirates
The second fastest player on the team, he is most often found playing right wing for the Arkia Pirates. However, due to differences between the coach and his players, he was instead assigned to outside centre. He still acts a lot like a wing, though, exploiting holes in the defence and his outrageous speed to make his way to the try line. However, his speed is now coupled with the ability to draw off the fullback and pass off to the wing for a perfect try.
14 – Kurt Ellis – Right Wing – Tri-City Gold
Coming from Division Two’s Tri-City Gold, Ellis is only twenty-two years old but has been playing rugby all his life. He’s fairly large for a wing, making him good at tackles, but also he’s fast, although not as fast as Davies who he replaced or reserve scrum half and wing Adam Halsey. His technique is nearly flawless, though. Could also fill in for any injured centre.
15 – Brad Weckit – Fullback – Caltis Union RFC
Although caught in a bidding war over this talented fullback, Caltis Union, the first rugby club to offer him a position, eventually triumphed and managed to sign him. Although slated a reservist for World Cup V, former fullback Xavier Walker degenerated over the course of the Cup so badly that Weckit was the starting fullback by the end of the cup, and managed to take Haraki all the way to a victory in the final against AMW China. Now he has returned for his second World Cup to try and preserve Haraki’s tenuous grasp on the championship. His main strength is his speed, although he also has very good handling skills and is unafraid to make any tackle.

Reserves

16 – Ian Halvith – Hooker, Prop – Barbarians
The [Ferria Borderlands] Barbarians’ hooker manages to make his way onto the World Cup team for Haraki. Built like a prop with the leg speed of a hooker, once he wins the ball he helps drive the scrum as much as either of his props. Nearly impossible to injure, he is a good choice to fill in any injured or tired front row players.
17 – Neil Higgins – Lock – Isasi Lions
Higgins is a tall man, renowned in the league for his adeptness at lineouts. As the Isasi Lions run a four-man lineout system, Higgins is their only jumper and almost always manages to take the ball. Part of that is his long arms and incredible height – He stands over 6’8” tall – but much of it the speed with which he gets into the air, before the other team’s jumper even starts to jump. Higgins is fairly slow, though, but strong as a push in a scrum, ruck or maul.
18 – Joseph Vaughan – Number Eight, Flanker – Vidaen Whites
The Whites bring onto the team their eight man, Joseph Vaughan, as a reserve for the sides and back of the scrum. He’s fast, strong and nimble, and although his passing isn’t great, he’s still an all-round great player. Often joins the back line beside the wing during loose play to create an overlap.
19 – Adam Halsey – Scrum Half, Wing – Kiros RFC
The fact that he is a tiny man should not be taken against Halsey. Standing barely 5’3”, he is the shortest player on the team. However, he is a fantastic passer and runs like the wind. When playing scrum half he tends to pass more, although the national team coach, Allan Ferris, has also picked him for wing as he is fast and an excellent ball handler to catch kicks or long passes.
20 – Kyle Ennisby – Fly Half – Dragons
The Dragons’ fly half comes to the team as a reserve. He is their goal and tactical kicker, and most likely the second best in the league, after Nathan Cannon. Should Cannon take an injury or fatigue overcome him, Ennisby would take over for him. He’s not as fast as some fly halves, but has the passing ability of a scrum half, making up for it with long passes to outside centres and wings.
21 – Jasper Hull – Centre, Fullback, Fly Half – Liusu Griffons
Playing centre for the Griffons, with Thomas Gerryin as Number Eight, he sees the ball less than some other players. However, when he does get it, he’s a devil. A good tactical kicker and very fast, had Ferris not placed Cannon as a centre to get his kicking ability on the field, most likely Hull would have been chosen. A devastating tackler as well, famous for diving tackles to the knees for players that the crowd are sure is on a try-scoring breakaway.
22 – André Tulua – Flanker, Centre, Fullback – Vicily Vipers
A Karaki native, he grew up on a farm raising domesticated animals and wrestling cows. He got very good at running because there wasn’t much else to do, there was no school bus, and he frequently slept late. His strength makes him a good flanker, while at the same time his speed makes him a good centre, and his tackling ability thanks to strength and lack of inhibitions makes him an excellent flanker or fullback. He is an all-round great player, and one who hopes to take his division two team to the top.

Coach – Allan Ferris – Uses Raiders
The coach of the Uses Raiders brings his wisdom and expertise to light as coach of the national team as well. He has chosen an all-star team to represent the nation, spread out over all of Haraki’s top twelve Division One teams. The other teams in Division One and all those in Division Two have expressed their indignance at their exclusion from the team, but have been mostly ignored. Ferris coaches a very aggressive offensive game, and has taken the Raiders almost to the top two years in a row, only to be defeated by Kiros RFC both times, first in the semi-finals and then in the finals just last season. This season, under his watchful eye, the Uses Raiders have a perfect record – except for their one season loss against Kiros.

Ferris himself once played for the Dragons until his retirement at age 32. During his tenure (He played fly-half), the Dragons won the championship five times and were at the top of the division tables eight of his eleven years. However, that was in the time nearly a decade ago when the Dragons had a nearly unbeatable team, until they aged. Many retired, many received career-ending injuries, and following their exit from the team three of the star players went on to coach domestic clubs. Ferris has been the most successful of those three. The Dragons today still hold the fourth-place spot in Division One and are a force to be reckoned with, but another team, Kiros RFC, has stolen their thunder. The Dragons have a cadre of good, younger blood, but they have lost the outstanding team that won them so much.

Good luck to the Hawks in PopularFreedom, where they lost their first game to Sarzonia 36-3, only due to a late drop goal by Nathan Cannon from thirty-five metres out.

Artitsa
06-07-2006, 19:02
It was a close game; 26 to 24, but Artitsa defeated Marceau. Scoring in the opening minutes, Kyle Robinson danced through the entire Marceau back line before finally throwing a pass out to Steve Orban, missing Kyle Buckley for the try. The try was converted by Kyle Buckley. The Score, 7-0.

At about the 24th Minute, in open field play, Kyle Buckley recieved the ball, and found his gap. His opposing center began to close him, and the fullback moved up to make the tackle. Buckley, thinking quick, chipped the kick over the fullbacks head; The quick #13 sprinted past the Marceau fullback, running onto the ball on the first bounce, and touched it down; He converted his own try. The Score, 14 - 0.

Marceau responded with their own try at the 36th minute, and a penalty at the 22 metre line at the half. The Score, 14 - 10

After the Half, the Artitsan squad came straight back with another try by Kameron Spraggon underneath the posts. Converted by Buckley once more.
Marceau then responded with a quick penalty initiating an interesting dummy-switch-miss combination that somehow worked. The Score, 21 - 17

In the closing minutes of the game, Artitsa was stagnant at the 10 metre line just over half, into Marceau territory. The Scrummy dished off the ball to Kyle Robinson who proceeds to chip kick the ball down the field towards the touch lines. Instead, Tony Felix runs onto the ball, jukes the Marceau winger, and grubs the ball past the fullback. As the ball rolls into the try zone, both players dive, but Felix comes out on top. Buckley fails to make the conversion. The Score: 26 - 17.

In the dying minutes of the game, Marceau score a try underneath the posts while the Referee blows for fulltime afterwards. The final score: 26 to 24.

Coming off an exhausting season, the Chinese team looked out of sorts and sluggish as they lost to a resurgent Milchama side 24-26. The team was outmuscled up front and did horribly in the scrums, although a late fightback from the backline with tries from Peng and new winger Kwok gave them a measure of dignity.

Coach Graham Hart will be resting more of his key players next week - Spencer seemed lethargic, and fullback Chen will also be rested. Chu replaces Spencer, Kwok continues as winger while Bayer recovers from his wounds, and Chiang will come in at fullback.

OOC: Always glad to answer questions. :)

-To save space I included BOTH POOL B games on one post.
-The first four COLUMNS refer to the match between Larkinia and Virginia Nova, the 5th to 8th columns refer to your match verses Snake Eaters.
-the 5th column are the numbers Snake Eaters used
-the 6th column is his results
-the 7th column are the numbers you used (2 of your numbers are missing as you were not apart of RWC 5 or RWC 6)
-the 8th column is your results

Each row represents 8 minutes of play approx. So in your match against Snake Eaters
-you scored in between the 1st and 8th minute a converted try (as shown by the 7 points in the first row of the last column)
-Snake Eaters scored in between the 9th minute and the 16th minute a converted try
...

The 4 points was the standings which is based on how they tabulate points in the Rugby World Cup where a win earns a team 4 points. It does not represent the actual score.

Aust got off to a winning start in there quest to win RWC 7 with a 28-27 victory over a tough snake eaters team. Teh Austian side scored 4 tries in there victory, three of them coming from centers J.Moore and J.Austin.

Moore scored for his first try within 3 minuates of kickoff. A long, high ball from Witek was dropped on the Sanke Eaters 10 and the ball was turned over by Howick who was first to the scene. staying on his feet after making the tackle the small Asutian flanker managed to rip the ball from his opponent inside the 22.

From there the Asutians attacked using there forwards, 6 phases of play gaining them 10 yards, finally a clever switch move between Austin and Moore led to Moore breaking two tackles to score. Witek converted.

Snake Eaters came back strongly, scorig a try as Aust failed to stop a rolling maul that crashed over there line. Witht he scores tied at 7-7 the game began to settle with Snake Eaters seemingly encamped in Austs half. however a rare forlay into the oppersition 22 by Aust led to a poor clearence from the oppersition scrum-half. Austian Winger Ray atacked immidetly, stepping 3 players before a huge tackle by the oppersition 15 brought him crashing down. before more players rached the scene ray was able to pop a pass up to Austin racing through to score.

A long penilty by the Snake eaters FH brought the match to 14-10 at half time. but after halftime, fired up by an agressive team talk from there coach, the Austian blitzed there opponents scoring 2 converted tries in 16 minuates, moore claimning his second and Corkell touching down under a rolling maul.

After that, with the game seemingly won, Aust relaxed and where punished for it, there hosts coming back with 2 tries to bring the game to a close at 28-27.

Locke Harbour Dragons finally win a match.
Barely able to pull off win over Marceau State.

Locke Harbour North - Drop kicks finally did win a match. In this case had both teams just scored tries the Dragons would have won, but only barely. However whatever way they can get it, a win is a win nowadays for the Dragons.

The Dragons, no longer the dynasty they once were, immediately faced a wrath of pressue in the opening few minutes from a Marceau State squad determined to make amends for their loss on the 5th verses Artitsa. However it was the Dragons who were able to opening the scoring.

In the 7th minute of play, after playing defense for the entire game thus far, the Dragons were able to pick up a loose ball and with their backs, run downfield. The Marceau backs were able to overtake them just past midfield, however the resulting maul helped to suck in a lot of Marceau defenders. The Dragons were able to capitalize on this with the ball whipped out to Sam Walley who hit a outstanding drop kick from just outside the 40 to give PopularFreedom the lead 3-0.

After both teams exchanged tries to make the score 8-5 for Locke Harbour, the Dragons once again found themselves with the ball, this time, Winger Mark Anderson was able to break through a tackle and speed his way to a try. With the convert this gave the Dragons a commanding 15-5 lead. Marceau State was able to get one last try before half, however at half the Dragons were still in front 15-10.

In the second half the Marceau State squad came out on fire. Their pack again pounded the PopularFreedom front eight until finally one of the Marceau flankers was able to burst through the line and touch the ball down for an early try in the second half. The convert put Marceau State ahead 17-15 early in the second half.

The Dragons however started to revert to their usual way of scoring points, at least in relation to their scoring methods during 2006. Dragons' Inside Centre Sam Walley attempted over 10 drop kicks during the second half with 2 of them finding the mark to make the score 21-17 for PopularFreedom by the 61st minute.

Both teams then played intensely, with a ton of rucks as both teams tried to wear down one another. The Marceau players were especially intent on forcing themselves into enemy territory and this strategy paid off when a high tackle resulted in a penalty, which flew through the uprights to cut PopularFreedom's lead to 21-20 at the 70th minute mark.

The final 10 minutes of the match was war. Both teams fought it out with PopularFreedom defending within their 22 for the majority of the time remaining. Finally, a blind pass by a Marceau State back sealed their fate as Outside Centre Vlad Smith intercepted the pass and raced downfield for an easy try at the 79th minute, which with the convert, brought PopularFreedom back to a 28-20 lead.

A little over a minute later, the final whistle blew cementing the match score in history.

The win, keeps the Dragons in the running for a playoff spot, however their inability to score 4 tries places them in 3rd spot, with only 4 points to their name. This puts them in a position of having to win their match verses Artitsa and hoping for Rorysville to at least tie Marceau State for the Dragons to have any hope of making the playoffs.

'It'll be tough, no doubt', noted coach Keith Wright. 'Our boys however know what is at stake, do not worry, they will do well'. One can only hope that the Dragons will show at least a bit more heart then they have for the majority of 2006. Else, they will be the first host in Rugby World Cup history to fail making the playoffs when hosting the event.

Snake Eaters records first win
Written by Kimar Farston
Snake Eaters was able to record it's first win of the rugby world cup by a six point margin over Larkinia. Although the opposition made Snake Eaters fight for every one of its points before the match was ended, there can be little doubt that an impression has been made.

After a close match with Aust, in which many of the team thought they should have won, Snake Eaters marched onto the pitch full of the will to win this next match, and prove that they deserved to be here. Having lost the toss, Larkinia was allowed to kick off, the wind at their backs. The Snake Eater line-up was similar to the original, but full-back David Helliwell had strained a calf muscle in training, and was thus replaced by K'ith T'lli (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sportacademy/bsp/hi/rugby_union/rules/img/cut_intro_picture298.jpg), a strongly built Snakkesse player with a reputation for his sheer power in defence.

Snake Eaters was forced on the defensive to begin, with Larkinia piling on the pressure early, capitalising on a deeply kicked start to score two tries, both of which were converted, taking the score to 14-0 by thirty minutes. However, after the replacement of No.8 Paul Gibson with P'al H'egart, a renewed offensive on the Larkinians was brought about. A dropped ball by their full back resulted in a five yard scrum, which powered over the line to score the first SE try of the match, which was easily converted to bring the score to 14-7 at half-time.

After a gruelling pep-talk from Norman Fletcher, who could be heard shouting out in the corridors of the players area, they returned to the pitch much more on form. Two more converted tries came quickly, with captain James Williams recording his second of the tournament, having sidestepped his opposite number. Score: 14-21.

Another try came soon after, but the conversion was missed by Jacob Cameron, leading some to speculate that he is not on the form he should be, seeing as he has missed a fair few of these conversions in both matches. With the score at 14-26, Larkinia suddenly came fighting back, scoring another try, but the conversion went uncomplete, bringing the score to 19-26 with five minutes to go. As the minutes ticked down, they forced their way into the Snake Eater 22, but were unable to create any real try scoring oppurtunities, so dogged was the defence. Eventually, a won line-out allowed their fly-half to drop the ball between the posts, taking the score to it's final total of 22-26 to Snake Eaters.

Following the match, one would have been forgiven for thinking that PopulareFreedom's Locke Harbour South had been claimed on behalf of Snake Eaters, so full were the streets of rightly jubilant fans. Some who were interviewed said,"Well deserved win. We've got a difficult group... but no one really has it easy in rugby."

Haraki Manages a Win
Rugby World Cup Opening Up?
From the Atherlon Times

Pete Vans, PopularFreedom. The Harakian rugby team managed a win last night against Silage, after dropping their first game rather spectacularly against Sarzonia. The team must now win against Viamont to progress to the knockout stage.

The game progressed according to plan, with Haraki's forwards managing to keep Silage trapped in their own end except for some brief moments of genious from the Silage backs, who managed twice to break out from the deadlock Haraki's forwards forced them into and manage a try, once converted and once not, along with two penalties deep in Haraki's end for offences by the forwards. But Haraki managed to score enough points during their periods of dominance to overcome Silage's eighteen points and score a comfortable victory.

The Hawks' wingers dominated the scoring, letting the forwards push almost all the way to Silage's try line before passing out to the backs, who would pass along the line looking for openings until finally the wingers found them. Both of Haraki's wingers, Daniel Virlan and Kurt Ellis, managed two tries each. Nathan Cannon managed to convert two of them near the centre, but seemed to be missing his lucky boots as two from farther out went sailing wide. He made up for himself, though, with a penalty made from near centre for offside, and a drop goal near the end of the match.

The win, together with the scoring of five tries, propels the one-time world champions to second in the group, four points behind Sarzonia in first and one point ahead of Viamont in third. Silage has been eliminated with only one point. Whoever wins the Haraki-Viamont game will move on to the knockout phase along with Sarzonia, who have already qualified.

In all their time at the RWC, Haraki has never failed to qualify for knockouts, being crowned champions in RWC5 and losing out in the quarter-finals in RWC6. Could this be the year the team's luck runs out? We may find out next week.

Haraki 30 (Virlan try x2, Ellis try x2, Cannon conv. x2, Cannon penalty, Cannon drop goal)
Silage 18 (tryx2, conv., penalty x2)

[center] Aust Slaughtered in RWC7 [/cener]

It's a sad day for Austian rugby, for the first time iun 5 World Cups Aust lost a pool game, and lost it badly. The defense was a shambles, the attacking play, while brilliant at times lacked direction or speed. Skill was non-existant as a serise of missed kicks added to the humiliation.

The fact is that for a proud Rugby nation a 25-12 loss simply isn't good enough.

The only bright moments game for a ever present Howick-who is turning out to be a star of this world cup team, and Gill whos lighting poass and excellent tackling prevented another two oppersition trys.

Harlesburg Forwards Dominate
Harlesburg 27 AMW China 18
After a disasterous loss to Quakmybush 32-5 where the much respected and in somecases feared Forward pack was constantly out muscled and out numbered at the breakdowns and could not find parity in the scrums due partly to sneaky though intelligent tactics by the opposition scrum, Harlesburg brushed aside a late AMW China charge to secure a 27-18 victory to get their campaign back on track.

Harlesburg started the scoring early on when James Hargreaves the much experienced Halfback darted off the back of a ruck dummied to his left 15 metres out and watched as a large gap opened up in front of him and he got through unopposed to score the first try 11 minutes into the game.
Micheal Stains converted to give Harlesburg the lead 7-0

13th minute AMW China in control of the ball, after Harlesburg Lock Freddy Stevens had fumbled the kick off, had a scrum Maberry Swello was penalised for driving up and from 35 metres Carl Spencer slotted the penalty.
7-3

24th minute Fedor Chenescu ran 34 metres before being dragged down into touch by a Coleman Liu and Mark Chou tackle, However the AMW China lineout ball was not secured cleanly by Kieran En and number 6 Charles Belle running onto the lose ball 25 metres out from the line set up a ruck from where Charles Williams then Hayden Burrows followed by a maul based around Toby Anderson crashed over the try line 3 metres in from touch, Stains converting.

29th minuteDean Woo was penalised for boreing in on the scrum and Micheal Stains kicked for touch gaining 30 metres to bring Harlesburg inside AMW China territory.
Freddy Stevens fro the lineout tapped the ball down to Hargreaves who passed to Ricky Gervais who before being brought down offloaded to Hamish O'Halloran who unsupported at the breakdown was penalised for holding on in the tackle.
Carl Spencer kicked long for 40 metres of territory and off the top of the lineout Andrew Hui passed to Spencer who skipped out Alan Peng who ran into the arms of Gervais and Belle but Belle tried to retrieve the ball while off his feet.
Spencer calmly slotted the penalty score 14-6

Again in the 38th minute close to halftime Harlesburg were penalised for being off their feet at the breakdown and Spencer kicked another penalty from 46 metres out.

Halftime 14-9

It didn't take long for Harlesburg to again feel under pressure as Jay Chen running into the backline off of a well worked rap around by Peter Lee and Alan Peng ran 55 metres before Danieli Delilliaou ankle tapped him only 8 metres short of the line but with not enough numbers at the breakdown Ricky Gervais killed the ball andearned himself a Yellow Card many in the crowd were demanding a Penalty try.

Spencer indicated for a scrum and after 8 succesful drives from Mauls off of the scrum another penalty was awarded but this time he went for goal.
14-12

64h minute Gervais is back on the field, Harlesburg have a scrum 30 metres out after Jonathan Bayer knocked the ball on with an open field in front of him, Hargreaves kicks behined the defence into touch.Kieran En wins the lineout and Jason Dao passes back to Spencer but it is a horrible pass Spencer steps dead trying to reach for it and Harlesburg get a scrum 5 metres out.
Danieli Delilliaou comes crashing in to recieve the ball but is thrown back by a strong wall of defenders, not making the advantage line is a sin and after losing 6 more meters on a maul AMW China colapsed it when Harlesburg looked to be regaining their poise.

OOC: I don't understand why you've been putting scores up like that. Unless it's to show possible combinations of scoring to get the final score?
...

Excellent question and I apologize for not being clearer earlier.

Using your last game as an example:
22 Larkinia
26 Snake Eaters
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/3595/rwc72db12ai.png (http://imageshack.us)

The first column is the random numbers that Larkinia chose. The second is his results based on those numbers (the first 5 being random, the remaining 5 being allowed if he has posted his roster, participated in RWC 5, etc).
The third column is the random numbers your nation chose. The 4th column is the result based on those numbers.

Each row represents a period of 8 minutes.
-The first row shows that you scored 3 points in column 4 (so either a drop goal or a penalty kick) which again with the first row representing the first 8 minutes means you scored early in the match to make it 3-0.
-The second row shows that you scored an unconverted try in column 4 which represents minutes 9-16 of the match. So by the 16th minute you had a lead of 8-0
-The third row shows that you scored an unconverted try in column 4 which represents minutes 17-24 of the match. Meaning by the 24th minute you had a 13-0 lead.
-The fourth row shows that Larkinia scored a converted try in column 2 which represents minutes 25-32 of the match. So by the 32nd minute Snake Eaters lead had been reduced to 13-7
...

Hope that clarifies that question and if anyone strays from this I do not mind however I will be RPing it as such and therefore entering it into the standings (if a team gets the bonus for scoring 4 or more tries) as such... :)

OOC:
Greetings,

I have explained this twice before however I do appreciate the question and apologize for any confusion on this in advance :)

the first column is where your random # goes
the second column is where one of the following FORMULAS goes (ignore the rows)
=IF(A13<C13, "7","0")
=IF(A16>C16, "7","0")
=IF(A14>C14, "3","0")
=IF(A15<C15, "3","0")
=IF(A17<C17, "5","0")
=IF(A18>C18, "5","0")

NOTICE, if the FIRST formula goes in column 2, then the 2nd formula will go in column 4. If the 2nd formula goes in column 2, then the 1st formula will go in column 4. If the 3rd formula goes in column 2, then the 4th formula will go in
column 4. If the 4th formula goes in column 2, then the 3rd formula will go in column 4. If the 5th formula goes in column 2, then the 6th formula will go in
column 4. If the 6th formula goes in column 2, then the 5th formula will go in column 4.

What this means is that based on random factors will determine whether the HIGHER or LOWER # wins.

Using the following match as an example therefore:
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/3595/rwc72db12ai.png (http://imageshack.us)

we see that in the first row - THE LOWER # won
the second row - THE LOWER # won
the third row - THE HIGHER # won
...

Again it is random, so sometimes the higher # will win, sometimes the lower # will win. It depends on the random nature of it (for the first 5, the last 5 somewhat too HOWEVER it also is impacted by the fact that some teams may not get their #s played in the latter 5 for not meeting criteria). Again great question and I hope I addressed this in this response.

Harlesburg game racks up injury list
In a disastrous blow for the Chinese team, three forwards have been ruled out off the game against Quakemybush after the scrum was completely pulverised by the Harlesburg pack. Both of the starting props are out through injury. Roger Lam has a shoulder strain, and Dean Woo reported a sore neck after the game, which turned out to be a slipped disc. The scrum will be headed by replacement tighthead David Dong and the import Stewart Kennedy, both making their international debuts.

New debutants make big impact
Dong and Kennedy, playing for the first time in an international test, managed to ease Graham Hart's scrummaging worries somewhat with a decent performance against Quakmybush.

Bayer's return from injury was welcoming and he immediately showed his skill, scoring two tries to be named the man of the match. Halfback Dao also impressed, making several breaks and bullet passing all night. Spencer was his usual accurate self, kicking all penalties and conversions.

POPULARFREEDOM ELIMINATED FROM RUGBY WORLD CUP
Sloppy defense helps to keep Dragons out of the playoffs.

Report by: Stephen O’Malley
PFT News, Locke Harbour

The Dragons are having a horrible year. After ending off last year in style with a International Rugby Championship (IRC) title under their belt, they entered the 2006 PopularFreedom Rugby League (PRL) with high hopes. Those hopes however, like their year, has been dashed.

The Locke Harbour Dragons set history, becoming the first team to fully host a Rugby World Cup tournament and not qualify for the playoffs. After previous strong showings in the World Cup from the Camelot Wasps and the Sacredicity Saints, it was thought that the Locke Harbour Dragons, arguably the premier dynasty franchise of the nation, would be able to make it further than the quarterfinals in the Rugby World Cup. Alas however those expectations were far too premature in thinking it does seem.

http://www.geocities.com/PopularFreedomTicker/2006-07-09-001a.jpg
The Dragons were scrambling on defense throughout the Rugby World Cup

Though some fans and observers were sounding warning bells prior to the Rugby World Cup beginning, based on the terrible season the Dragons had in the PRL, forcing them to be relegated, many observers still felt they would make a mark in the Rugby World Cup, and in hindsight, they did, just for all the wrong reasons.

'They suck', lamented more than one fan leaving Champions Heaven Stadium in Locke Harbour North after the match.

Other commentators were more specific but came to the same conclusion. 'No defense, no heart, no skills, no desire, no drive', all were used on various occasions to describe the state of what was one the premier team in the nation. In defense of the team, many of their starters were still not playing 100% however many fault coach Keith Wright in not substituting replacements far more frequently both so that these players would not be a liability on the field, and so that they could have healed quicker.

'We've been hearing about injuries since February. Yet they keep putting these players in so of course they will never healed', complained one fan after the match.

OOC: I personally don't like the system you've put in place, PopularFreedom. It's a little too overcomplicated. Like Haraki said, you should just post scores, and then the first one to post gets to set the way the match goes. They'll still turn out the same anyway.

IC: Snake Eaters Secures Place in Quater Finals
Despite todays loss, Snake Eaters has, for the first time in their history, been successful in making it through the group stages. Due to administration errors in the previous tournament, they were denied what they thought to be rightfully theirs. However, a loss to Virginia Nova will not have roused spirits.

The match started poorly, with Snake Eaters going 5-0 down before a drop-goal from Callum Northwell, making his first international appearance in almost six months, brought it back to 5-3. They then capitalised on this with Ben Staton running past a try to make the score 5-8. However, Northwell missed this first conversion, a reminder to all that he is still not at full fitness despite words from Norman Fletcher at a mid-week press conference:

'I'm...uh... I'm convinced Callum is fit to play in this match... he's been out a while, it's true, but he's always been in the World Cup squad, and he hasn't let us down yet.'

However, the brief euphoria expierence at this lead was brutally cut short by a devastating series of plays by Virginia Nova, who mauled the ball over the line and scored their second try of the match, taking the score to 10-8.

As the match continued, Snake Eaters found themselves increasingly on the defensive against a riled opponent, and their focus slipped when a dropped catch led to a scrum on the five-yard line, the Snake Eater pack struggling in the fierce rain and terrible playing conditions to maintain their grip, with Nova pushing over for another try, this time converted to take the score to 17-8.

Up until the last fifteen minutes, it seemed as if this would be the final score. However, a high tackle allowed Snake Eaters to regain some momentum, which they were unable to capitalise on for any more tries, but allowed Northwell to redeem his earlier conversion failure by putting away two beautiful drop goals to take the final score to 17-14.

At the post-match conference, Coach Fletcher said that he was not too happy with the result, as they had lost two of their three group matches, and that he would be pushing them even harder during training for their next match.

k, assuming no one else has a problem with me changing it to this consider it changed to your and Haraki's request for the playoffs.

For the record, the only reason I provide so much detail is so that everyone can see how the scores are attained. As noted before one can choose to alter the exact specifics on how your team scored as I do not mind however in light of your and Haraki's request I will, assuming no one requests otherwise, start posting scores in the format you have requested.

Artitsa finishes first in its Division!

Previous champions, and Rival Team, PopularFreedom struck first. Scoring a try along the touchlines, the convert was failed. The Artitsan boys were quick to respond, Kyle Buckley finding gaps in the once strong PF defenses, touching down under the posts. Kyle Robinson took the conversion.

Popular Freedom fired straight back, powering through the Artitsan lines eventually earning PF another try along the touchline. The conversion was failed once more. The score at this point was 10 - 7 for PopularFreedom, but the Artitsans weren't finished yet.

Before the half finished the crowds would watch Steve Orban return a deep kick back through PF territory, popping if off to Prop Tyler Robbins touching it down for the try along the wing. Kyle Robinson failed to Convert. 10 - 12 Artitsa leading.

Popular Freedom struck one more, again failing to convert. Having had enough, Artitsa pushed through again under the posts; Kameron Spraggon claiming a try for himself. The kick was converted easily by Kyle Robinson.
The score now 19 - 15 for Artitsa.

The pressure and frustration of the match became apparent as Artitsa gave up a penalty on their twenty-two leading to an easy kick for Popular Freedom. In response during a series, Dale Newstead stole the ball off a tackle, dishing it off to scrumhalf Ryan Dorker. His pass made it off to Kyle Robinson, cutting back inside against his opposite number. He then proceeded to stutterstep past the PF Fullback, and touched down. He converted his own try.

In the closing minutes of the game, the Artitsans decided to finish the game off completely, another try put down by Kyle Robinson after a well place grubber.

The Final Score: 33 to 18 for Artitsa.

Point Tally:
1. Kyle Robinson: 34
2. Kyle Buckley: 16
3. Kameron Spraggon: 10
4. Tyler Robbins: 10
5. Mike DeVries: 10
6. Tony Felix: 5
7. Steve Orban: 5

Through to the Quarter-Finals
From the Atherlon Times

Pete Vans, PopularFreedom. Haraki added their much-needed second win as a convincing victory over Rugby World Cup newcomers Viamont, as the veteran Harakian team managed an impressive two tries in the first ten minutes, both by winger Daniel Virlan, who dominated the entire game and won the well-deserved Man of the Match title.

The Susa left winger managed to break out almost straight from the kickoff and score a try in the corner, which Nathan Cannon was unable to convert, before managing another on a break through the Viamont lines only five minutes later, which Nathan Cannon slotted home for two extra points. It looked as if the rout was on, but doubts were seeded in the fans' minds as Viamont managed a try ten minutes later, although unconverted. They were the last points Viamont would see, though, as Haraki managed to dominate the game for the next sixty minutes, scoring four more tries and a penalty.

Virlan accounted for a third try just before half, again unconverted by Cannon, who seemed off form for the first half. Ending the half in the lead 17-5 though was a good boost for the Harakians, as coach Allan Ferris gave them a rousing speech that seemed to inspire the Harakians more and more for the second half.

Haraki scored off the kickoff, a Harakian kickoff which James Keay caught, running forward and jumping into the air to retrieve. Off the ensuing ruck, Haraki scrum half Carl Thint gave a long pass to right winger Kurt Ellis, who sprinted off, leapt over the Viamont fullback and scored between the posts for an easy conversion. Ten minutes later, a rolling maul heading for the Viamont line was collapsed deliberately by Viamont's openside flanker, who was given ten minutes in the Sin Bin for his trouble, as Nathan Cannon kicked a beautiful three point penalty kick, and seemed to be back in the game.

Haraki managed to more tries, one by hooker Brad Winters on a crash ball over the line and down, once again converted, and one by scrum half Carl Thint, who simply grabbed the ball out of a scrum on the line and ran over the line to touch it down, with another conversion. Haraki ultimately ended the game 41-5 and, with this convincing win, qualified for the quarter-final against Artitsa, a team which dominated Group D with three consecutive wins and three bonus points for a perfect run in the group stages.

RUGBY WORLD CUP PREPARES FOR LAST DAY OF ROUND ROBIN PORTION OF TOURNAMENT.
Four teams in group A still have a shot for 2 playoff spots

Locke Harbour South - Though initially group D looked like the 'group of death' it now appears that group A will be forever remembered with that moniker. As the teams prepare for their last round robin games on Thursday, four of the teams have a shot at making the playoffs. Though the upper hand has to go to Quakmybush and Milchama.

With Quakmybush and Milchama having 1 game remaining, and both tied with AMW China with 11 points, both teams need only either score 4 tries or more, or lose within 7 points to clinche a playoff spot. AMW China, who has a bye on the last day, will be glued to their televisions to see how their rivals do. Finally Harlesburg, though realistically out of it, still has an outside chance of making the final playoff spot with a little luck and a herculian effort on Thursday.

The first match on Thursday will probably be the biggest decider in who makes the playoffs. Harlesburg will be fighting for their playoff lives when they face Milchama at 3pm at Locke Harbour Stadium in Locke Harbour South. If Harlesburg wins and can score 4 tries, depending on how many points they beat Milchama by, along with what happens with the match at 5pm will determine their fate.

At 5pm Quakmybush will face Iansisle, the only team officially eliminated in group A. Quakmybush need only gain one point to assure themselves a playoff spot though again expect Iansisle to play spoiler here for national pride.

Tickets for these matches, like all the other World Cup matches have been sold out for weeks, however it seems that many scalpers are seeking to gain a profit as reports indicate that tickets are going for as much as $700 on NSbay, the international online auction shopping website.

Today in World Cup of Rugby action Quakmybush took on a very good Milchima side. Quakmybush won 16-13. This win put Quakmybush tied for first in group A with one more game left. They are tied with Milchima and AMW China. Harlesburg is in fourth and Iansisle is in last. Iansisle is Quakmybush's next opponent and a win will qualify them for the knockout stages.

Keith Wright, coach of the Locke Harbour Dragons, was planning to scout the quarterfinals on Sunday. With his team out of the RWC playoffs and coupled with his squad's relegation in the national rugby league this past season he needed to start looking at trades to make his team better. Already rumours were rampant that one of his starting props was to retire in the next few days possibly so he was extremely worried for next season already.

As he looked over the games he looked at what would probably be the best teams to watch.

The Quakmybush vs Snake Eaters match at 9am was definetly going to be a good one. Snake Eaters were happy at reaching the playoffs that was for sure but still they would not be satisfied with just that, while Quakmybush made sure they had their team into the playoffs, winning their pool at that.

The Virginia Nova vs AMW China match at 1pm would be interesting. AMW China made the playoffs via having a bye and having the other squads win or lose with enough points to allow them to sneak in. Some were saying they should not be in the playoffs however he knew that AMW China were always a good squad so he suspected that the match against the heavily favourite, and currently unbeaten Virginia Nova team might be a lot closer then people were suspecting. Either way it would definetly be a match to watch.

Third match at 5pm would be Sarzonia vs Rorysville. This game he was most looking for since Sarzonia was unbeaten and Rorysville were the defending rugby world cup champs. He was just drooling with anticipation.

Finally the last match he still could not pick a winner at 9pm. The other matches he already had a feeling who might win, but this one, no way. Haraki vs Artitsa. Haraki always had good teams in the Rugby World Cup, however Artitsa would have a good team one year, then not, then again they would have a good year. Artitsa's squad this year looked strong. However one could never discount Haraki as they were rugby warriors. Definetly a match to watch.

He could barely contain himself with excitement though he kept telling himself he was attending to scout the games not just watch.

'2 more days, 2 more days,...' he kept telling himself.

Quakmybush Makes World Cup of Rugby Quater Finals

Today, In world cup of Rugby action Quakmybush thumped Iansisle 25-3. This gave Quakmybush a record of 3-1 and this let them advance out of pool A in first place. AMW China is the other team to advance. Having one of the lowest Points Against totals, and one of the highest Point Differentials mean that Quakmybush will be a force to reckon with in the Kockout rounds. The team will face Snake Eaters. They finished second in group B, and advanced by only one point. Their record was 1-2. THey had a Point Differential of 0 with 67 points for and against. This will be a good game, but we really think Quakmybush should win.

Galaxians clinch group title, face champs

14 July (ASP) -- Despite the media blackout that saw the Sarzonian national rugby side not get a lick of coverage, the Galaxians finished the pool stage a perfect 3-0, winning Pool C. Their reward? A date with defending champions Rorysville.

"It's going to be tough for our lads, but we've made some unbelieveable progress in the last couple of seasons," one fan said at The Brig, the venerable sports bar in Portland, Somerset where Galaxians matches have been shown to increasing crowd interest. "I don't think we're quite at the level we want to be yet, but we have some solid building blocks for the future of the sport in our country."

The Sarzonian professional rugby league has finished its third season with the team representing Portland winning its second title in three seasons. The team lost to Tacoma in the final last season. Even more important than the professional league has been the increasing development of youth leagues and the popularity of the sport in secondary schools and universities.

"There's an excitement about the sport here in Sarzonia now," said Travis Malcomb, a bartender at The Brig. "Attendance has picked up throughout the country. I think it has the potential to be a real growth sport for Sarzonia in the future."

Even though the future may be promising, so is the here and now. Sarzonia defeated each of its three opponents in Pool C, including World Cup V champions Haraki, and a win over Rorysville would give the Galaxians wins over both recent champions. However, Malcomb warned against getting too excited too soon.

"We need to take it one match at a time. I know the lads have done real well, but Rorysville is an excellent side. They're going to give us our money's worth, that's for sure."

After a nervous wait in front of the big screen, AMW China made the semi-finals as Harlesburg thumped Milchama, putting AMW China ahead of them in the points differential and sneaking into the semis through the bye. All over China fans dressed in Harlesburg colours and cheered voraciously as the Harlesburg side ran in try after try.

The Chinese will name a full-strength backline against the Virginia Nova side and enter the game as underdogs. Both props injured in the Harlesburg game wil be rested as they are not match ready yet.

Snake Eaters will face Quakmybush in the quater finals. Despite only advancing by a single point, the scores in all the matches were close, and could have gone either way. Thus, the assumption of many in the opponent team and their fans that this should be an easy match should hopefully prove misplaced in this upcoming match.

Norman Fletcher, speaking after hearing of his teams draw, said,"Well, they have got a good track record. But records and stats can only count for so much. At the end of the day, it's really the team with the most drive and the desire to win that comes out on top. Currently, the lads are all training harder than ever before, and we should be at full strength for the next match. Quakmybush claim that they are a force to be reckoned with, which is certainley true. But they've never played us. They have no idea what they are up against in real terms. Of course, the same applies in reverse... either way, it should be an interesting and closely fought match."

"Norman, what about Williams? Rumours are flying that the Captain of the squad is suffering in training."

"It's true that James has suffered a minor strain to his calf muscle. However, our teams physiotherapist has assured me that he will be fully fit on match day."

Backline rescues China

AMW China 21 - Chou try, Liu try, Dao try, 3 conversions (Spencer)
Virginia Nova 15

The backline played with flair and composure today to send AMW China into the semis through a 21-15 victory over Virginia Nova, with the midfield backs combining to set the game alight. The scrum held up most of the match, and the lineouts were dominated by En's jumping.

7rd minute
Openside Flanker Liu manages to turn the ball over in a ruck as the Chinese come under pressure 18m from the tryline. Halfback Dao throws a bullet pass to fullback Chen who does a monster of a punt but it is caught by the opposite fullback some 75m from the chinese try line.

With the opposite fullback isolated, 2nd 5/8s Alan Peng races to cut him off and manages to partially charge down the clearing kick, which floats towards right wing into the arms of Chou, who has a clear run to the try line.

45th minute
45m from the Virginian Nova tryline, the Virginian lineout throw is stolen by Lock En who delivers to Bayer. Bayer charges towards the tryline but the defence holds and only makes a small gain. 2nd 5/8s Peng retrieves from the ruck, sidesteps a defender to break the defence line and does an overhead pass over another defender to Spencer who accelerates and throws an enormous pass directly, skipping the halfback, to left winger Chou.

Chou closes on the tryline and notices the Virginian fullback preparing to land a tackle on him and decides to take no chances, throwing a behind-the-back pass to halfback Dao who scores between the posts.

67th minute
5m from the tryline, AMW China recieve the scrum feed after a penalty. The scrum produces a mammoth effort to push the ball over the line, and a flurry of hands hit the ball. The try is awarded to Liu.

Quakmybush Smashed! Snake Eaters Victorious!
"Against all the bookies odds in favour of Quakmybush, who went into this match with odds of 5-2, Snake Eaters have emerged victorious over these proud warriors. Although they did fight valiantly, and in some cases appeared to have Snake Eaters reeling, they eveidently lacked the constitution required to deal with a lethal dose of rugby venom. ((See what I did there :p))

The match did start in their favour, however, with their kick-off going deep into the Snake Eater half. For a few moments, it was touch and go, before Quakmybush opened the scoring, in what was widely believed to be the worst possible scenario for the Snake side. With the score at 7-0, there were times when Snake Eaters seemed to loose focus, taking plays that were far too risky, and could have gone horribly wrong. However, it would seem that the mighty god Leviathan ((Patron god of Snake Eaters, although 'God' is above him in totall.... it's hard to explain))

Snake Eaters did eventually reply with two tries, one courtesy of the captain, both of which were converted, taking the score to 7-14. However, the match then, once more, ground to a halt slightly inside the Quakmybush half. Stalemate was continued until half-time, when both sides trooped off, Snake Eaters in resonable spirits, their hopes raised.

These hopes were almost dashed when a missed tackle allowed a Quakmybush player through in the opening seconds of the next half, scoring a try which eventually went unconverted, but the event was more than enough to rouse the sleeping snake. When play resumed, Snake Eaters went on to show how truly dangerous they can be at international level rugby. Having previously being dismissed by many as a team that was good, but not quite good enough for beyond the groups, they proceeded to storm the Quakmybush line constantly, causing them to make mistakes that they wouldn't have had the pressure not been piled on. As a direct result, Snake Eaters scored another two tries, the second of which went unconverted to take the score to 12-26. Although there was promise of another try, the remaining points all came from penalties, four of them to be precise. Final score: 12-38

Snake Eaters will now face AMW China, the number one ranked team, which has sent more than a shiver down the collective spine. However, the team and fans, many of whom will be up into the early hours of the morning celebrating this win and perhaps consolling their fallen opponents as only rugby fans can, are confidant that they can give AMW a game worth remembering.

The Epic Clash of Rugby Titans is over and the Moose have beaten Sarzonia in the Quarterfinals 28-15. The GAme started off with typical Rorysville Fashion hard hitting by the Rorysville Backs lead to great chances and Rorysville would take the early lead and add to it with a pair of trys scored at the 14th and 17th Minutes Succsessfull conversions would have Rorysville up 14-0 early on . Sarzonia would answer with a beatifull play set up by the Sarzonian BAcks and would leed to a 14-7 Halftime score. The second half would continue with the heavy hits as Greenleay Put on a clinic on Defensive play. Rorysville would add to thier lead wiwth a pair of Trys and put the game away 28-7 Sarzonia would answer with a try and a penalty kick to attempt a comeback but too little too late. The game would end 28-15.
"Well with this tough test we really showed that the poor play in qualifing was just an anonomly. The Boys in Black are continuing to impress me more and more every game this team is built to excell in pressure situations and tehy'll continue to suprise us all.,Our next Test will be a tough one as we will be facing Artitsa for the Second time they had us good last time I hope the boys don't underestimate themselves and in the same sense overestimate themselves"--Coach Sitller

Diane Smith: Hey Jim, why you working so late?

Jim Balowin: Have to do a story for tomorrow's semifinals with a prediction and not sure who to pick.

Diane Smith: Ain't that hard. Just pick a team.

Jim Balowin: Naw I wanna be right, but how do you pick? Take the first match at 5pm, AMW China vs Snake Eaters.

Diane Smith: Whose the better team?

Jim Balowin: See that is just it. On paper AMW China. However this tournament they have played just okay. Course one could argue they got stuck in a really tough group however Snake Eaters have played AMAZING! So who do you pick?

Diane Smith: Well the team with the better momentum.

Jim Balowin: See that is it, but then do you just ignore the fact that if AMW China steps it up then Snake Eaters will be snakemeat?

Diane Smith: Well surely the other game is easier.

Jim Balowin: Yea you would think, but hell, Artitsa is a great team and this year they have an awesome group of players.

Diane Smith: So there is your answer...

Jim Balowin: Not so fast, Rorysville has an awesome team as well.

Diane Smith: Who has the better record?

Jim Balowin: Artitsa, but that is cause they beat Rorysville by 1 point in round-robin play, 1 point. It could have gone the other way easily. Furthermore Rorysville are defending champions so they are no slouch.

Diane Smith: Who wants it more?

Jim Balowin: See I don't know.

Diane Smith: Well I assume if you figure that, then you should have your answer.

Jim Balowin: See not necessarily cause a sudden wind gust kills a convert...

Diane Smith: Jim, I'm going home cause I have a life. I suggest you get one and not worry about who wins and loses. Just make a prediction, base it on some fact and back it up, and if you are wrong, then you are wrong.

Jim Balowin: Yea but...

Diane Smith: Jim, shhhhhhhhhhhh. Stop yacking, start writing. Bye!

In a match that deserves to be held in the highest esteem, Snake Eaters has managed to defeat long-standing favourites of this tournament AMW China, 27 points to 21.

The number one ranked team were formidable on paper, and in person they were even more so. However, Snake Eaters has, by what some are calling a miracle and others are calling a superb display of rugby at it's best, managed to oust them from the tournament they have dominated for so long.

The match opened well for Snake Eaters, who scored a try in the first ten minutes to take the score to 7-0. However, lax defence allowed AMW to reply in kind, scoring two tries to take the scoreline to 7-14 as half time approached. Snake Eaters did manage to put a penalty between the uprights to leave them 10-14 down at half time.

The temperature had only served to get hotter during the break, and it seemed for a time that this favoured the AMW side, who scored another try mid-way through the second half to take the score to 10-21. However, seemingly roused, partially be the replacement of the entire front row, Snake Eaters came back with a vengence, scoring another converted try to bring the score to 17-21, and then pushing AMW back, seemingly encamped in their 22 for the remainder of the match. By doing so, they forced mistakes, just like against Quakmybush, although the AMW mistakes were much harder to come by, resulting in two unconverted tries, a total of ten additional points, to bring the score to 27-21 at the final whistle

Being interviewed after the match, captain James Williams said,"WEll, we're astonished. We've never gotten this far before, and to beat a team like that... well, it was a game to remember."

"With this being your final World Cup, do you think it's lead you to play even harder?"

"I think it's fair to say that I have pushed myself very hard this tournament, and hopefully I'll be doing the same against Rorysville in the next match."

After being dumped out at the semi-final stage after being heavy favourites, Chinese fans let their emotions run riot. Vegetables were thrown at the team bus after the game, and Openside flanker Coleman Liu was assaulted in a bar "for being a pussy of a forward". Coach Graham Hart has come under intense media pressure, and for the first time there are calls for his resignation from many commentators, especially RugbyChina.com

"Hart has failed to achieve international parity amongst the forwards despite having 8 years to do so," an editor writes. "His obsession with his attacking backline has led to a murcs (scrum going backwards), weak rucks, and a team lacking in depth and experience, with the result of AMW China being perenial underachievers despite dominating the Five nations scene for many years."

Having started well and at one point leading by 11 points, the game collapsed midway through the second half, the team made silly errors, and Snake Eaters scored 17 unanswered points to come away with the win.

"It was a disappointing game to say the least, but we will come back from this stronger and better prepared."

The Chinese team will be retained for the next game, except Stewart Kennedy will be replaced by Roger Lam who returns from injury.a

THE DREAM IS OVER!!!!

The Moose have lostin the Finals of the Rugby World Cup.Thier Second straight trip to the Finals is quite an accomplishment to say the least but still a loss hurts when they got so far.Snake Eaters Played a great style and some blame the loss on the fact that the Moose could not be the Boys in Black"Had they been able to wear thier Black we mighta had better luck"--John Q. Public in the end thier luck ran out against a great squad from Snake Eaters. In a twist of Irony RRV Sporting Goods Provided Snake Eaters with thier Kit. On to the match.A Warm 25C Temerature made for a more comfortable playing atmosphere. Snake Eaters got off to a quick start with a great tackle on Jordan Staal stopping what coulda been the opening Points. not 3 minutes later Snake Eaters would Capitalize with a try to put them up 7-0. at the 16 minute mark Rorysville would answer the call one ore time and notch a try to tie things up at 7 all after exchanging a pair of Kicks the Half ended 10 all. What happened in the second half is unbelievable. Snake Eaters got out of the blocks running and Notched two Quick Trys to put the score at 24-10. Then an unbelieveable Defnsive effort completely shutting down the Moose Potant Offensive Attack. The Game would end at that 24-10.
"Well in my Third time around this is the hardest feeling. These Boys answered the Bell till the end and threw everything they had into it. in the end we ran out of luck against a great team."--Coach Sitller

Snake Eaters
20-07-2006, 20:00
Snake Eaters has won the Rugby World Cup, defeating previous champs Rorysville to put the crowning achievement onto what has been a campaign of epic proportions.

Snake Eaters had already beaten the worlds number one, AMW China, in the previous round, and came out with real hopes that this could be their World Cup. Making their final appearances on the World stage were winger Tom Corner, inside centre Ben Staton and the captain James Williams, giving them even more incentive to win this match.

It all started well, although the black kit did not help in the heat of the day, causing a high need for fluid replenishment, with Snake Eaters running a try in after nearly ten minutes of excellent play from both sides, with Callum Northwell easily putting the conversion over, taking the scoreline to 7-0. Rorysville were down, but by no means beaten, as they came back with a try of their own, bringing the score to 7-7 with a few minutes left in the half. At this point, play became a bit dirty, with both sides taking away penalty kicks, bringing the score at half time to 10-10.

The second half was a much more Snake-dominated affair, with the team, now filled with hope, but still playing the game that had defeated AMW China and Quakmybush in their previous two matches, forcing mistakes, but these were much much harder to come by, as the then-defending champions fought strongly, but ultimatley failed to take away anything from it, with Snake Eaters running in two more tries, with the retiring captain scoring the winnner.

As the fireworks erupted and the team lifted the trophy, parading it around the stadium, the roar of the Snake Eater fans could be heard for many hundreds of metres. As they returned to the tunnel, Norman Fletcher was seen to be crying slightly, and James Williams took his opposition captain to one side, and exchanged shirts. They had a brief conversation, in which Williams is believed to have said,'... take it, I won't be needing it anymore. At least, I don't think I will. You never know in this game.'

Snake Eaters would like to thank everyone who played us, and gave us the tournament of our lives. We hope not to dissapoint at the next tournament in four years. See you over the coming international seasons though.
